What a charming experience for breakfast. The parking lot looked jam packed but once inside there was plenty of room for everyone. The servers were lovely and made you feel right at home. The meals were enormous for the price and absolutely delicious. I don't eat a lot and I came close to devouring everything on my plate. Couldn't recommend enough!
The best home cooking in Metro Moncton. I love the dated decor. It’s so 1991… in a good way. The staff are all ladies who know their way around a diner. The food is something your grandma would make you. Homemade bread with each meal is the real star of the show. The only thing they could do would be to reconfigure the seating in the main area, as there is a lot of wasted space that they could fit more seating in. This would help the long line to get in. We go here all the time. Highly recommend
Homestead, just like it says. Amazing food. I had the Hot Hamburger Sandwich, and a friend had a hot Turkey sandwich. It's just amazing food. Service was awesome as well. Fast and in and out. We got there just in time for the 5 o'clock rush. And the variety of Pies is very cool. Didn't get to try then. Highly recommend this place.
Fantastic little gem of a place to enjoy great home cooked fare. A guy in the door line up suggested we try it as we were about to leave and highly recommended the reputation of this well established spot. We're glad we stayed. We were quickly seated and ordered breakfast. Coffee arrived within minutes and we barely waited 10 minutes for our food...our server as friendly and efficient. She chatted us up about the history of the area and gave us a lot of great pointers and places to see. We loved it. You gotta go there when you're in Moncton.
If your looking for a place that has that down home feeling, try the homestead restaurant. From the way the waitresses knew peoples names it’s obvious that they frequent this restaurant. We ordered the open faced hot turkey sandwich lunch special. Everything tasted homemade and delicious. The homemade bread that came with the order of soup was as if it had just come out of the oven at home. My only regret was I was so full I was unable to order dessert which also looked delicious. Service was great, food was delicious, I am definitely looking forward to going back!!
Been to this restaurant twice thus far. I knew from the first visit, with my lovely wife Pat, that this was a very homestyle eatery. Hospitality is fantastic while the service has been top shelf. Upon entering, noticing all the happy customer I could see this was a regular to many patrons, always a good sign. As my son pointed out, if there's a lot of older customers, it must be good because they wouldn't waste their money on a place with bad food nor terrible service. Both Pat and I enjoyed every morsel. During this last visit, neither of us ordered anything to drink other than water which was provided gratis. This combined savings allowed us to order their coconut pie. I had asked before hand if the pie was made within the restaurant. I was assured it was. I asked if it was actually made from scratch and was promised it was (I always dislike those packaged pie mixes). I must state that it was a superb coconut pie served with whipped cream topping (I did have the option of a meringue topping). I look forward to tasting all their many other deserts over our subsequent visits in future. The bread is also made in house and both Pat and I enjoyed the bread provided as well. We look forward to many years of future dining at this wonderful restaurant.
Very cozy and friendly restaurant. The staff seems to be very well organized and friendly. I ordered the meatloaf special at a reasonable price. 👍 Sorry to say but I didn't make the right choice for me. Tomatoes sauce covering the meatloaf was to much, it was too juicy and it's over powering the taste of the meatloaf itself. Didn't like their choice of vegetables either, I think it was turnup and carrots mashed together. 🤢 Although it certainly was a good size portion and it looked phenomenal. I've read the reviews for here and there is a lot of positive reviews. I will absolutely make another trip there and try a different meal, maybe a turkey dinner. The pastry there looked fantastic, I'm definitely have to try that as well. Not to sure on the closing time but I think its closes at 7 Not 8:30pm as it says on the book. You may want to call if having a late dinner 🍽 😋
First Time Going Here. The Service Was Top-notch. The Food Was Even Better. They Accommodated Our 3 Year Old With A High Chair, They Asked Us. Much Appreciated! Food Arrived Very Quick And Was Cooked To Perfection. Easily A 10/10. The Atmosphere Was Exactly What You'd Expect From A Restaurant Named "Homestead". Deer Hanging On The Wall Was A Great Thing To See And My Daughter Very Much Enjoyed Seeing It All Dressed Up! The Prices Were On The Lower End Of Restaurants With The Same Dishes. Their Sides Are Cheaper Than Most Places As Well. If You Are On The Fence About Going Here, Just Go, You Won't Regret It

We stopped in here for breakfast, and we were not impressed. The home fries were under cooked, and left an odd after taste. It was cold outside already, and they sat us under an AC vent, that they said they couldnt shut off, so we have to wear our coats the entire meal Food

Traditional homestyle cooking, the stuff your grandmother used to make. So far everything I have tried has been good. Sometimes can get very busy, especially Sundays after church and makes for a long wait.
My husband & I go here often. We went for supper tonight and it was not a good experience. My husband asked for a hamburger platter and specified no onions (allergy). The waitress even wrote it down. Our meals came out and there were onions on the hamburger. His meal had to be made over. We didn t eat together because his came much later than mine. I had the roast turkey dinner and it was skimpy and missing a vegetable. My husband asked the waitress if he could have a complimentary piece of pie for the inconvenience and she laughed out loud in his face. She came back and gave him pie and I thought okay they want to make it right. Wrong!! We were charged for everything. My husband was so mad - we won t be back for a long long time.
As always, the Homestead offers delicious home cooked food with exceptional service, and fantastic dessert if you can fit it in after the huge portions.
Great place for a home cooked meal
The food is decent, the bread is really good, but its pricey for what you get. You have to pay extra for home fries and coffee. As for the home fries: they are skinned and boiled with the consistency of apples. Crunchy and unseasoned and non uniform pieces so they all have different states of being cooked. Maybe thats what the older crowd likes but I was not a fan. Husbands eggs were cold which he told me after. I was hoping to tell the waitress about the fries but she never asked how the food was. She just brought the bill, said thanks for coming and rushed away. We went to pay the bill and stood in the formed line, when 2 old ladies cut us in line by just going to the other side of the cash where there wasnt a line. I am a physically disabled person that cant stand a lot so I was baffled when the hostess started processing their payment first. I told her you know we were waiting here first and she said she didnt know. The payment system they have had an automatic 20% tip built in; probably to trick all the old people that go there. Be vigilant against this sort of thing when eating out. The food was already much higher than most diners Ive been to in Halifax, with really no perk. I was going to give 4 star until my interactions with staff at the end. Im an out of towner so definitely wont be heading back here but want to warn other travellers. Id try somewhere else.

We went to the Homestead restaurant, a group of 10 of us. The food was fantastic. The service our server Nancy was pleasant and gave us excellent service. We had a variety of meals from Hambrock steak to fishcakes and the food was excellent. We would highly recommend anyone travelling through or local. Thank you, Homestead. Dietary restrictions: My wife has dairy allergies and they accommodated everything very well.

Small turkey dinner, it was delicious! I had leftovers! My favorite parts were the homemade gravy, outstanding flavor and bottomless just ask for more gravy. Good homemade lunch. Excellent flavor and real hash browns. On the other hand, the plate does not have any accompanying fruit. The price of my plate was $17, still expensive for the plate. The service is very good. Easy to park.

Went to The Homestead for breakfast for the first time last week, and I will definitely be back! The food and service were amazing. I love the artwork on the walls from artists, and all the fun pictures of local spots (Shediac lobster, etc). Hubby had the steak and eggs and it was cooked perfectly, I had the traditional breakfast and my eggs were cooked perfectly over-medium, just like I asked for. I can t wait to come back and try their desserts

Reviews were great so we stopped for breakfast but found the food was very bland and basic. No seasoning or anything. Prices were great and service was good but I d never go back due to the food. I can t imagine many people under 60 years old would enjoy this place. Which seems to be their clientele when we were there, 60+.
This is the restaurant for the weary traveller ,the hungry working man ,the early riser and the quiet meeting with friends. Home cooked style simple food like a BBQ Burger you will crave if you cant do your own ,theirs is better, or try the shepherds pie its got a different take on it super savoury a must have :)

Finally went to try the famous Homestead and really disappointed. We ordered a bunch of food and the clubhouse was dry, omelette was dry. Apple pie crust was white and undercooked. I guess the regulars go there for sentimental reasons.

If you re looking for fresh, homestyle food the Homestead is the place. We ve eaten there several times and have never had a bad meal or experience.
Food is bland, service is mediocre at best. Would not waste my money there again, there are much better restaurants with good food & service in Riverview.
It was a good breakfast
We came for the lobster roll and were not disappointed. Rather than having fries, we were able to substitute Caesar salad. Parking: Although a big parking lot, the matching large number of patrons can make parking spots scarce.

They served minced, as in pureed, ham on their sandwiches the day I was in. If that is something new going forward, I highly recommend they drop that from the menu. The waiters seemed a bit grumpy as well. Which, I think, is a bit unusual. Maybe they didnt like the look of us, I dont know! Anyway, it wasnt like all the times Id been there before. So disappointing. Hopefully it was a one off. On the positive side, the rhubarb pie is a must have!

Also great pies. Also offers take out and pre orders on pies cakes and bake your own pot pies and lasagne. Parking: 2 Accessibility parking spaces. Occasionally overflows to side street parking at busiest times. Kid-friendliness: Booster seats and highchairs available. Plus coloring pages for young children. Kids menu offers smaller portion sizes. Wheelchair accessibility: Zero stairs, lips or ledges at entrances. Open walkways for maneuverability. Bathrooms are very small.

Ive been a regular here for 30 years and the food and service hasnt changed in that time.. Always consistent, always quick, hot and delicious. Theres a reason theyre lined up out the door at times and I guarantee theyre worth the short wait!
I ordered the Special, quiche which came with home fries and toast. Huge and delicious. My husband ordered the big breakfast. Huger and also delicious. Clean, friendly, cozy.
Nice interior wood paneling and lots of booths. The food was boring. The scrambled eggs werent mixed enough (white and yellow) and what they call home fries are merely cubed potatoes with no flavoring and lots of oil. If thats what you like, then this is the place for you.

Every time I go to Riverview, we eat at Homestead and NEVER had a bad meal or experience. Food is delicious, desserts are scrumptious, and service is quick and friendly. Just GO!!
A very busy restaurant. There was a short wait fora table but we were promptly greet and told we would have a table shortly Waitress promptly arrived greet us and provided menus.Returned shortly and took our order. There wasn t a long wait for our food which arrived hot. Special requests were met. Overall we were happy with the food. The only downside was the. Coffee which was mediocre.
Long queue to wait for a table, so we guessed this was a popular place. Eventually got a table and placed our orders. The food was good, although portions are not the biggest I have had, so I went for a dessert too. The dessert was BIG!
Had the country breakfest mini size. Meal was good and the hot chocolate was ok. I would go there again.

What a wonderful little place! Our waitress was friendly and kind and we didnt need to wait for a table even though it was a Saturday morning. The prices are very affordable and the food was good. I also very much appreciate that they have a mini version of their Country Breakfast since the original amount of food wouldve been too much for me. Well definitely be back.

Came after lunch and place was not packed/busy, but service was slow and took a while to get started or refills. Got a chef salad and it was MASSIVE and delicious, fishcakes were delicious and chow chow for dip. Burger was just as good. The pies were To Die For delicious. Def save room for dessert (peanut butter pie for the first time was a great suggestion). Friendly staff, just a tad slow.

It is a very cozy family restaurant, I had onion soup but it was very salty, my companion ordered a meat sandwich and it was good. After a walk along the river bank and it is very cold, this place is a good option to warm up a little, the treatment is friendly and the atmosphere warm

Recently went for breakfast here for the first time. Everything was fabulous! I was with a table of 5 people and all of our meals came timely and correctly. Our server was great! Friendly and kept out coffee always topped up. Definitely will be back to try their delicious looking desserts.
