Awesome meal and great service!

I went to dinner and ordered a general tao. Really given the standard of this establishment I expected much better. The chicken was dry and the rice cold. When I paid my bill on this one there was a suggested percentage for the tip 18% of $48.00 = 8.64 But on the payment terminal this same 18% was 9.93. Rather weird. In short, it was still a good evening.

The service is impeccable and the food is delicious!

Really a great outing to do in Riviere-du-loup! We started with the cheese board!! Great with brioche bread on the grill! Dare to eat the 20oz strip steak for two!! A delight!! We accompanied everything with a nice bottle from their fairly well-stocked wine list. Several ate burgers and although they looked good, let yourself be tempted by the beef tartare, which we were able to enjoy as an appetizer, while waiting for our famous steak! Well done to the chefs!

Really disappointed. We each ordered two starters and received all 4 at the same time. We had seafood chowders. Lots of pieces of pollock and the taste is not extraordinary. Everything is going quickly, it seems like we want to leave quickly. 4 starters and half a bottle of white wine $120. Way too expensive for the quality of the food.

We went there on July 30 and Brigitte who served us gave us excellent service. The downside was my main meal, I ordered the beef/shrimp filet mignon and I was not served a nice thick medallion/tournedos as usual but the end which was not tender, full of torn, I have difficulty explaining the competence of the kitchen staff who are clearly not a chef and who serve this piece of meat to the customer. So I turned my plate over and chose the braise and therefore ate alone since my partner finished his plate since I had to wait to receive my plate.

Had the breakfast during an overnight visit. The quality and presentation of the food was superior and included a variety of fresh fruits. The only negative comment is that the portion sizes were on the large side.

This was our first experience for our group of 6 people. Upon arrival, I appreciated the cleanliness of the restaurant as well as the quality of the furniture and decoration. Once seated it took no time as we got them our water and ordered our drinks/cocktail. I had the tataki starter and it was delicious! To get all the flavors, dont forget to spread the mayonaise on the meat. My partner had the cheese plate as a starter and she really liked it. Just a small suggestion would be to serve small plates with the starter so as not to put crumbs everywhere and to be able to share it. As for the main meal I had the cod fish n chip. The breading was tasty and crispy, the fries well seasoned and the coleslaw very good. I leave a 4 star for the service, because the kitchens forgot our desserts after 20 minutes of waiting. In general I recommend this restaurant the service is very good the food is very good and quality. The atmosphere was also good.

A nice little quick service restaurant! We ate while the Tesla charged. However, the chowder is more fish than seafood and the club sandwich is good, nothing more.

We were very disappointed with our experience unfortunately... we are aware that taste is in everyones taste buds and that there was an event that evening, which delayed our service and therefore our experience. Besides that, my friend received his mac and cheese cold, the cocktails were not good at all! The margarita tasted like salty water (much too salty) and the amaretto sours tasted like orange juice diluted in water. Luckily we werent charged for the margarita and we really appreciated the gesture. When the people at the event were served, the service was quick afterwards, but we were still seated for 2.5 hours, including an hour without a meal. As for food, our meals were delicious, the portions were not gigantic but I appreciated not going out with an overly full stomach. For people who want to stuff their bellies, I dont think this is the place for you. We were expecting a chic, gourmet and hearty restaurant, but our expectations were greatly disappointed.

Steaks were undercooked, asked foe medium/medium rare got very rare. I ordered surf and turf and my lobster tail was 1/3 the size of a normal lobster tail and wal stringy, not tender. The server didnt seem to care and when mentioned said not much I can do. Not impressed for this dinner for both of us.

We flew in from New York to attend a family service and stayed at the hotel for one night, stopped in for a bite around 9pm. Busy Friday night so service was slow, but the food was unexpectedly delicious, favorable, with thoughtful presentation. Between the two of us, we had the beef carpaccio, scallop with fried palenta and lobster risotto. The scallop and lobster risotto are 5-star dishes in execution. Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff. I wish it wasnt 9 pm at night and that we could eat more and that we didnt have to head back the second day. What a nice find to cap an emotional day with food that soothe heart and body.

I wasnt expecting much but I was wrong. We invited our two children who came from Montreal to see us and ALL the dishes we ate were excellent. Tasty and well presented without fuss but with the obvious desire to do well. They succeeded. Our server Alexis served us remarkably. They made us feel comfortable, unpretentious. Exactly the way we want to be served. My children have also noticed this. I must say that our son has already been a waiter in Montreal and he gave Alexis a very, very good rating. Beautiful evening, Well drunk, well eaten and happy to have gone. Were going back for sure! Plenty of parking space, menu where everyone can find what they want. Accessible for everyone. They even have a private lounge to accommodate small groups in complete privacy. Naturally its not a McDonalds so the children will be able to eat there but wont be able to run everywhere.

We started with the cheese board which, to my great astonishment, was really small, the cheeses were not written on the menu and unfortunately they were not the best cheeses I have eaten I continued with the flank steak which was excellent and the fries which had a very good seasoning.

I indicated an allergy to snails in the allergy section of the room order form and the restaurant sent me a snail dish with my order.

We went to dinner last night on December 25 with family, generally speaking our experience was okay, nothing more. On the other hand, when receiving the invoice a 3% admin/kitchen tip appears on the invoice, we ask the butler and he tells us that this is the kitchen tip. As the owner of a restaurant it is not up to customers to tip the cooks of the establishment, this calculated before tax, or most people will tip the waiter on this 3% . THIS PRACTICE IS UNACCEPTABLE, IT IS UP TO THE EMPLOYER AND THE SERVERS OF THE ESTABLISHMENT TO DETERMINE WHETHER THEY TIP THE COOKS AND NOT TO IMPOSE IT TO THE CUSTOMERS. HOPING THAT THIS PRACTICE CHANGES FOR THE RESPECT OF CUSTOMERS.

Was seated at the bar, waited longer than 10 min and the bar staff didn t bring over water or ask for a drink order. Left before any more time was wasted.

Very long service, no communication. Ineffective coordination. Questionable hygiene, no tablecloth or placemat, the utensils are on the table... Too bad because the meals are very good. Kid-friendliness: Despite the presence of children, the service was excessively long. 1 hour 30 minutes between the starter and the main course.

We were a group of 18 people - without reservation - well aware of having to be flexible and patient. BUT our experience was extremely below our expectations. 1. Reception: we were separated, according to our order of arrival at the restaurant, with no openness from the person at reception to place us near each other under the pretext of a large number of reservations The restaurant was far from full to capacity. 2. Waiting time: we waited more than 45 minutes before getting a glass of water and more than 1h30 before placing an order. Note that I allowed myself to get up and go get information after 60 minutes without service. 3. The service: Nothing was offered to remedy the situation, which may suggest that the staff considers this to be a normal waiting time... 4. The food: interesting menu on paper, but ordinary in the mouth. The pros: beautiful presentation and very reasonable prices. My advice? Try the Back Door.

My dish, less salty, would have been perfect. Its really too salty Also, be aware that they charge a kitchen fee. Its a small amount that I wouldnt have minded if the waitress would have told us about it. In addition, this amount is taxed. She showed us that its written on the menu: Below the elastic SEE PHOTOS. I will perhaps return there during another visit to RDL. So much potential, the dishes are good but very salty. We arrived close to closing time, it was a big night I understand. But we no longer had services, the staff was more busy closing things rather than serving us. We never refilled our wine glass. Once we received the bill, we realized that there was a kitchen tax . Very disappointing its small hidden fees. Increase your dishes by $1 each instead. Ill definitely give it another chance one day.

What a glow up! The food was not only delicious, but the presentation was also great. I had wine, the salmon tartare as an entrée, and the bavette de boeuf as a main dish. Both were very good and worth their price. The service was attentive without being overbearing (it was not a busy night). The ambiance was elevated without being pretentious. I had a good time!

Ordered tonight while staying at the hotel. Food arrived 40 minutes after ordering, but just within their delivery time frame. Chicken was cold, reheated in the microwave. Mac n cheese was fine. My kid received expired milk that was curdled and disgusting. I called down to complain about the food and let them know the milk was bad. They sent up another glass of curdled milk. 0/10, will not eat here again!!

The service was really very bad..and the sweet potatoes were ultra salty, inedible...my boyfriends dish was forgotten..very few apologies..2 waiters took turns at our table, in a disorderly manner..in short ..we wont go back.

We went to Le Boréal for the first time on September 30, 2023, we were a group of 12 people. Our server Félix offered us excellent and flawless service despite a busy restaurant given the event taking place at the hotel during the weekend. There were a few errors in our meals, in particular the four people who had the mac and cheese received their meal without the famous cheese curds which should have been there. When we informed the maître d , who had just brought the dishes, we were told: Look for it and find some! » . A big lack of professionalism that we didnt expect from this restaurant... but we werent too surprised by the maître d since upon our arrival we heard him say rather rudely to the people in front of us what They would never eat at Le Boréal without reservations! . We looked and couldnt find the famous cheese. Luckily, Félix came back quickly and corrected the situation immediately in a very professional manner. At the end of the meal, two people in our group thought the taste of their dessert was strange. The maître d came back to see them to tell them that We tasted them all back and that s what it tastes like, it s normal. » very abruptly before leaving the table. We were a little confused by the interaction, but our server once again came to the rescue to reassure the people concerned and offer them a replacement dessert or coffee, assuring them that they would not be charged for their dessert. Overall, we rather liked our experience and if it hadnt been for the maître d who seemed to be doing us a favor by granting us the right to exist in his restaurant, the experience would have been perfect. despite the little kitchen addicts and the fact that for the price we found the portions small and not very generous. Otherwise, congratulations again to Félix for his impeccable service and his professionalism which should be the envy of his supervisor. 5 stars out of 5 for Félix!

Part of the meal was excellent, the entrée to the food and the service. On the other hand, what followed was more than disappointing. The fish was overcooked and the portion was insufficient even though we had forgotten one of the 2 starters and we had to tell 2 waiters before getting it!

Restaurant with magnificent decoration. A service with a lot of order errors, but the staff is friendly. There is an obvious difficulty for the servers to find the right tables linked to the orders. This was the case for us and for all the other customers around us. Finally, the food is bland and tasteless, probably due to the fact that there have previously been criticisms of too much saltiness in the dishes, instead of adjusting correctly and finding the balance, it seems that the Salt has simply been abolished in cooking. The foods were very simple and unsophisticated. When we read the description of the dishes, when we look at the website and see the chic decoration, we have the impression that we will be dealing with the same result on the plate. This is unfortunately not the case. The ideas and combinations of taste are good, but lack of finesse on the plate and clearly a lack of sophistication in the execution in the kitchen. There is room for improvement in the face of the customers expected requirements in relation to the projected image of the company.

If you dont have vegan options or dont know what they are, at least have the decency to say so. Really disgusting. Worst treatment Ive had in my life. If I could give 0 stars, it wouldnt even be enough.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Universal Hotel for a weekend getaway and on our first night we chose your restaurant for dinner. The service was excellent, drinks were delicious, however the food was mediocre at best for a very steep price in my opinion. She ordered the Bacon Carbonara and I had the burger platter. Not even 5 minutes after we had ordered we received our plates. Which raise the question of how long the food has been prepared in advance. For the burger platter, my fries were good although I believe they were not fresh cut in-house, the burger itself the meat was on the colder side and the coleslaw was good. The pasta was cooked to her liking, but had about 4 little pieces of bacon in it and the serving was less than what she has anticipated. So needless to say that we were disappointed of the food experience overall. Not to mention the average cost for each plate of about $20. I understand the costs went up, but it is not an excuse for poor output in food quality. Anyways. Seems like many patrons over the last few months have had the similar experiences. If you go back a year or so ago, everyone really like it which is not so much the case anymore. Hopefully management can turn it around? It would be ashame to keep going like this with such a nice atmosphere and excellent service by your waiting staff.
