The Painted Pony Bar and Grill in Sackville

Great place. Great food

Went in with my wife, and our neighbours, for a meal for our bi-yearly outing. I had the bacon and cheese gourmet burger (bacon, cheese, beef pady, letuce, tomato and onions)with a soupe du jour, and they all 3 had the painted pony burger (pulled pork on a beef pady, bacon, letuce, tomato and caramelized onions). My wife had the French onion soupe, and they ordered a onion ring order to share. The burger padies were cooked perfectly! They were moist, but not dripping. From what they said about the pulled pork on their burgers was hot, good and had very good flavour to it. The fries were pipping hot and crisp. We all enjoyed our meals. We even sat there for almost a hour after our meal, and never felt rushed or pushed to leave. I was keeping an eye at the door to make sure no one was waiting for a table. I really recommend this establishment for a good meal and friendly service. Our meals cost us 35 to 40 dollars per person, with tips and drinks.

Great service, good food and lots of it

First time visitor but not the last...

The next time I come through New Brunswick, Im going to stop here to eat. I was ravenous, and our servers did everything they could to make our experience memorable and enjoyable. They brought water for our dog, they made excellent menu suggestions, they made sure everything was to our liking. My burger was perfect and Nancys seafood linguini was to die for. Trust me when I tell you that you HAVE to eat at this place!

Not alot of gluten free options, however the salad was yummy and our server,Joe was the very best...wonderful experience

Server was flat out that day but still provided great service. Food men was your normal pub fare and came from the kitchen hot and tasty. Nice job and certainly worth the 3 minute drive off the highway to have a proper sit down meal in a clean and friendly environment. If you haven t driven into Sackville you should!!!

The food was great and not too much, which I enjoyed. Just enough to be filled but not feel overstuffed. Amazing salad and highly recommend the burger. Staff are friendly, and would definitely go again if I lived in the city.

Nice spot

We go to this establishment a lot, and its often our go-to for celebrations with larger crowds. We also recommended it to many out of town friends who told me their experience wasnt good at all. The owner, when this establishment first opened, was fun and welcoming but now, hes gruff and unpleasant every time were there. Yesterday was my 50th birthday celebration and the food and server were wonderful but again the owner was rude. A one point he pushed past me with my 7 month old nephew in my arms throwing me off balance. He was irritated that we needed another table for more customers with us than expected. Unfortunately, this experience is becoming the norm at this place. On one occasion I saw a server falling over herself trying to be perfect because he seemed angry with her. Its nice to have a nice place to sit down with family but when you feel unwelcome and like your a bother, is it worth it?

The patio was delightful!

Ordered takeout like I usually do and this time it was horrible. Felt like the chef just boiled pasta without salt and poured it into left over sauce as it was dry and tasteless. Keep in mind I always order this particular meal from there. I called and asked what can be done and they said I should bring back the food for a restaurant Credit. I just feel as though, the way the situation was handled was without care especially from a customer that always always goes there. No apology, no nothing just come drop the pasta and get a credit. Customer service is really important and because of this. I will never go there once my credit has been used up by me

My husband and I are staying an extra night in Sackville bc of the snow storm in NS. We decided to go to the Painted Pony for dinner. The food and the service were incredible. They made us feel very special. Brought out a cheesecake for me , we had mentioned that it was my birthday yesterday . So sweet, we definitely will be back

I typically dont give bad reviews to spots, because I know how fickle some patrons can be & how hard the servers work ....yet after each time I met folks here for lunch....Im thankful for the Au Lac Big Stop.

I had a very poor experience last night. I went alone to enjoy a beer and an appetizer. The place was very clean, food was good, but the server... How can I put this... Even people who are helping me at Tim Hortons and other fast food places dont make me feel that rushed. She spoke so fast it was almost like her sentences were one word. CanIGetYouSomethingToDrink? I had to ask her to say the draft list twice, and she gave me a dirty look. Every second she spent near me, I felt pressured and like I was a burden to her.

Good menu and the food that comes out of that kitchen is always excellent. A little gem in Sackville!

Super restaurant with super staff and super food!

Absolutely the worst service, food delivery, and attention paid by servers of any restaurant Ive eaten at in my life. Painted Pony is an idea of dining that hasnt been fully thought through before this disastrous implementation.

There was just one of those dealbreaker ingredients on my food, and the owner just seemed really rude when I asked for something else that Id enjoy more. Usually isnt that big a deal. Customer isnt always right here. Parking: Parking was great. Most businesses on this street only get 1-2 parking places, so coming from out of town, this is one of the more accessible restaurants.

Great restaurant\bar... Great atmosphere, food was delicious. Our waitress was very nice and upbeat. She took care of us, she was on top of our drinks, making sure we were satisfied with everything... I would definitely go back again. I came from ON and next time Im in the area, Id go back for sure.

Went to The Painted Pony Bar & Grill for dinner last night. Best choice we have made this far on our trip down east. Paul, the GM met us at the door, got our drinks right away and gave us a short history of the building. Fascinating. Laura was over to take our orders. Paul came over to top up my martini and laugh with us. Food came out in good time and boy, it was delicious! I had seafood linguine and hubby had chicken nachos. The chef knows how to cook seafood and the tomato sauce was homemade. I used some of the nacho chips to get every last bit of sauce it was that good. If you re in Sackville, make sure you get to the Painted Pony. You will not be disappointed.

As always, food is awesome. The bowtie chicken was creamy and so flavourful. Although we got this take out, the servers were real friendly. Come here often and will be back

For us German tourists a remarkable restaurant, very large and dark, the niche was cozy. The service is unusually friendly and quick. A way to adopt this simplicity for German restaurants.

Was in Sackville for the Mount A football game, a few of us headed to the Painted Pony for lunch before the game. We took a long time to order, the waitress remained very patient, pleasant and helpful. I order the mushroom burger and fries (special of the day) and was pleasantly surprised! Full of flavour and the fries were excellent. They have local craft beer from Flying Boats (Dieppe) so that was a plus. I would recommend!

had been there once before for lunch and it was a great experience. Went last night with our daughter and 16 year old granddaughter and it was unpleasant. The server never asked us if we wanted drinks; just took our order. I asked for a glass of wine with my order, thinking it would prompt her to ask the others if they wanted a beverage. About 20 minutes after ordering, server came along and said that they were working on our meals. About 15 minutes later she came back apologizing for the delay and offered to bring more bread; but again never asked if we wanted beverages. Note this is also a bar! Food finally arrived about an hour after ordering. Food was good but did not make up for poor service. August 30, 2023

Stopped in for chicken wings and a pint. They have the best wings that I ve had so far in the Maritime provinces. Dusted, crispy deliciousness. Friendly bartender, tasty food, clean washrooms. Will be back when I m in the area!

We shared potato skins and wings as starters. Had the salmon for mains. Delicious. Always a good atmosphere. The Maitre D is always good fun.

Don t overlook this place - Paul met us at the door with my very senior parents and he couldn t do enough - the service was over the top and the food even better. Everything is from scratch - it s not your usual bar fare. We also had a chat with Cathy. Both owners are clearly raising the bar. Highly recommended!

The food, for todays lunch, a freshly battered haddock burger with fries, was freshly made and delicious. The Belgian Moon beer was a perfect match for the food. The desert was a sticky toffee pudding, was moist and light and delicious as well.

Made a special stop on our trip East in Sackville, NB to this great bar and grill The Painted Pony. Kathy and Becky took great care of us. The food and atmosphere were amazing! Thanks so much see you next time definitely worth the stop

Our youngest son insisted he NEEDED the Onion Blossom to be a part of his birthday dinner. Hubby and I were both very happy he was so persistent, since this was our first time at The Painted Pony, but it certainly wont be our last. The inside is clean and spacious. The service was great, quick and friendly. The food came out hot and fast. Portion sizes are generous. We thought we would order a few appetizers for the four of us to share, and had no idea exactly how much food we ordered until it all hit the table. We all ate our fill and now have several take out containers stuffed full of leftovers in our fridge. Pace yourselves people, order accordingly or you too will be the proud owner of multiple take out boxes. Overall a great find in Sackville.

Warning come hungry or leave with a lot of leftovers! Our son wanted to try this place out for his 10th birthday so we decided to give it a go. It is much larger on the inside than it looks outside and is spotless from the decor, to the tables, to the bathrooms! Service was quick, friendly and fast. We decided to order some wings, nachos, a blooming onion and some cheesy garlic bread and share them together. Everything was awesome. The food came fast, fresh and hot! We did not realize how large the portions are and we way over ordered. The nachos alone, could have fed the four of us. It was all delicious and we all over ate. The server brought us out an amazing blueberry cheese cake and whipped cream as an added bonus for the birthday boy. He was thrilled and very grateful. We left with a huge amount of leftovers and not a single complaint. We will absolutely be back.

Unfortunately, we had a bad experience at this location. Our waiter had mis-explained the wing night deal and would not compromise or fix our bill. They were very rude & defensive and made us feel in the wrong. We felt scammed. We will not be recommending this restaurant.

Tonight we had a excellent ribeye steak and Jaeger Schnitzel. We travel extensively and eat out a lot. This restaurant is a surprising gem and we couldn t wait to post a review. The staff was friendly, informed and helpful! Highly recommend this place from a Texan and a Brit traveling through. Thanks guys!

Tasty Seafood Chowder and warm bread!

I found this little gem of a pub on route to Cape Breton for a few days of motorcycling. Great menu with delicious food, friendly and efficient service and ice cold beer! Need I say more.

We reserved a table and we were well placed. Next to the Christmas tree. Quiet restaurant but it was Monday evening, when I called on Saturday it seemed to have some atmosphere! Kind and efficient waitress. We didnt have much of a wait. The dishes were good!

I m new to town and love the Painted Pony, Cathy and Paul do an amazing job. The food is always great with menu items for everyone; add the spotless décor, the ability to seat large groups and friendly staff what more can one ask for. A must visit while in Sackville.

Food was alright, but the service wasnt.. very slow as it took forever to get our receipt when finished..then it was incorrect about 3 times, at least 30 mins later she got it right...

W3nt on a quieter day, Sunday, was pleasantly greeted at the door and seated. Order was quickly taken by friendly staff. Served shortly with good food that was reasonably priced. I would return.
