We've been here once and first impressions were really good. I would say it's easily the best Asian restaurant in town based on the dishes we had - lot of flavour, personality, and made us want more. We didn't try everything on the menu, so we'll have to explore some more options. But in any event, it was refreshing to have some very good Asian food in town!
We dined in the evening as two families with a bunch of small children. Everyone liked the food and the all-you-can-eat format was generous. They only serve Tsing Tao beer, but many other wine choices and a full bar. Some thought the staff was a bit gruff, but we never wanted for anything and requests were accommodated. Thank you for a nice evening!
Definitely not the place to go if you want both quality food and good service. The owner seems rather grumpy, and he rushes to answer any suggestions and reviews in a very rude way. According to him, it doesn't take a Ph.D. to understand his menu... Well guess what, I have one, still got confused and berated because of it... The nerve of these people! If you don't like getting reviews you don't agree with, then don't list your business here. That's the game, dude, just deal with it. I'm not paying to walk on eggshells around any grumpy business owner. I would advice never going here ever. I know I won't bother to go back under any circumstances.
The “All you can eat” menu should specify that the prices are for EACH person… it wasn’t clear… and it was super expensive!!! 😳it would be better for us just to order a plate for each… food is delicious but I think the menu is kind of tricky that way… very disappointed 😕
The food here is very good, though my partner didn't like the shrimp dish he ordered. It was too "gummy". He said he should have ordered the chicken General Tao. While the dish is quite generous, the rice bowl is quite small. I would have performed two portions of rice, but this one small bowl portion is quite common in Asian restaurants here in Québec. While the food was good, the service was slow. It seems most people had to go to the cash register to pay their bills rather than the servers bringing you the bill and pay at your table. Honestly, it seems like they were understaff. Most of the time, the main counter was left unattended. Despite this, the restaurant seemed rather popular.
Very flexible. Took my order 15 min before closing. Food is tasty. Found it difficult to understand French menu, but the server explained
Surprisingly delicious especially for a buffet at night. We found everything to taste extraordinary except for the Wonton soup. But if that’s your thing give it a try Good service and innovation for COVID-19. We were truly impressed. Thank you for an amazing meal
Food is not bad, service is friendly and the place looks clean. However, nothing authentic about sichuan cuisine. Its just good old westernized chinese/thai food. So as a real sichuanese i am a lil disappointed...
Very disappointed with the customer service but the food was good!
Horrible!! My pad thai was fluorescent orange, Yay chemical style... the bok choy was slimy and not cut so you could choke. The general tao chicken was the worst I have tasted in my entire life! Their sauce is too sour and too sweet. Plus the texture of the meatballs is horrible!! My partner was sick... Then we went there after a huge day to treat ourselves and comfort each other. We didnt really have the means to spend a lot but usually Asian doesnt cost us that much. There...$70 for 2 wonton soup starters and a padthai meal and a general tao chicken meal and 2 almond biscuits, who tasted not the almonds but rather the frying oil?! I dont recommend it to anyone!! Worst Asian restaurant possible in every possible way. $70 thrown in the trash....
I have my opinion today after 7 years... Good service even after the weather, buffet style but you have to choose the dishes brought to the table (all you can eat), I recommend the crispy shrimp with sea salt, the peanut wonton and the general tao chicken, if you like one good Asian restaurant these are the right place.
Everything is good... Go there with lots of people, it allows us to taste more dishes...
Really a favorite
Very good cuisine! Correct price quality!
First visit and I will return its on the portions are very generous and the food excellent Parking: At least 20 Wheelchair accessibility: Perfect
Perfect very good, the general tao and the wonton soup is perfect
Everything is good and we return regularly
Restaurant in a completely new building (not like in the photo). Very good, fast and efficient service
Very good and inexpensive
This evaluation concerns lunch. I go there very regularly. There is a good choice of lunch menu and everything is always very fresh and well priced. Spotlessly clean and good service.
Delicious, affordable dinner, very fast service
The best Schezuan restaurant I have eaten! Delicious
Since the owner no longer comes, the service is less good. The portions have been reduced a lot, and some side dishes have disappeared. Serving only fish, even a la carte, is not good.
I put three to serve because there was just one server for the entire room, the guy had very good service, very nice, he did an excellent job on his own, but since he was alone, it was long, there should have been at least one other server
The food is delicious and of good quality. The service is very fast and the waiters are polite and courteous.
Excellent food, good service but a little slow. It was my first time and Im definitely going to go back.
The dishes are really good
Good food. Expensive but rich.
I really liked the general tao as well as the wonton soup. The price of the lunch menu is very good with a generous portion.
Best Asian restaurant in Saint-Hyacinthe!
Delicious food tasting to take away it s very good it s for two and there s still some left! only 5 minutes of waiting! To discover
The food may be excellent, but the service is very ordinary. First visit on Valentines Day, 3 hour service for two dumplings we left without eating. Second visit, with my 3 year old daughter and my partner on a quiet Thursday evening. Incredibly stupid waiter, we felt too much immediately. We left without even ordering. We wont try again
The general tao chicken is excellent. Large pieces of chicken. Calm atmosphere. This restaurant is underestimated, to be returned. Fast service.
One of our favorite restaurants. Everything is excellent!!
Really impressed by the meal.. The food was super hot, and everything was tasty. The monaier who served me was alone for the entire restaurant! The service was good even if it was alone, not perfect but in the circumstances I understood very well. The principle is good and you think twice before going overboard with wasteful costs. I would definitely go back!
The food is very good, the portions are generous and inexpensive. We always go there for dinner and never wait. Parking: Parking in the back as well as on the street.
We didnt even eat, poor service, the man at the entrance spoke to us as stupidly as possible, we left as soon as we arrived. Disappointing.
Very good service and very good food
Excellent food, truly the best general tao. The service leaves a little to be desired. Its still quick, but one of the men who served us was stupid, in a hurry and really, really not polite. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Willing to pay a lot for a good meal
The food is great but the service is poor.
Very long service and the manager seems stupid, my dishes are very good
Its excellent.
This is our favorite restaurant!!! Pure madness sesame beef! A must for a good, calm, soothing and delicious restaurant! I recommend to everyone!!!
Very good restaurant.. meticulous manager and meal quickly served.. its worth it..
General Tao and sesame beef
No more..I dont like the principle but thats me
Simply the best place. Always excellent.
Absolutely delicious!!!!!! Wow! Completely renovated restaurant. Fast and impeccable service. Dishes to share. I adore !!!
Very fast and very good service :)
General Tao Chicken...Still The best ever
For a small number of people at a time its perfect
Very fast lunch service and good price for the quality and quantity.
Best general tao
Everything is delicious and the service is very good :)
Best Szechuan restaurant! Everything is excellent! Good service.
Way too expensive for what you have and in addition charge for tea and coffee with tip 90 its 45 per person you eat at 3 amigos its 55 tip comprice and its similar
Excellent service and exquisite general Tao
Excellent meal and excellent service
Not great, the food is mediocre and whats more, when I got home, a plate of breaded shrimp was missing, not worth it
Good food, clean place and impeccable staff. Despite the busyness we had very good service. I really enjoyed my experience.
Anything !! ... portions look like a bag of chips!!!! Dishes filled with air!!! Nothing to compare with LEtoile dorient Whether portion, taste or price 100% better than genuine Air!!
General Tao is the best but they have lost their beautiful cachet since the new building!!
I ordered a white fish with ginger and chives, received a soft white fish bathed in soy sauce, without ginger or chives; really not good for $24, plus no sauce for the imperial roll dripping with fat. Never again.
Excellent menu, and good attention!
Good, clean and super quick for dinner
Very good restaurant
General tao chicken and sesame beef are delicious Very generous portions, discovery menu to try at all costs! Very low waiting time (- 10 minutes after a call) very friendly, in short, I recommend!
General Tao is excellent
Too good
We bought the menu for two. We were very satisfied. Delicious and generous portions. I recommend. Just the peanut wontons the dough was a bit hard. Otherwise, it was excellent.
Good restaurant. The hot and sour soup is delicious (in the top 5 restaurants I know) as well as the general tao chicken and the lemon chicken. The fried rolls are crispy and delicious. Portions are adequate. Clean and well-kept places. Particularly fast takeaway service. A bit usual decoration though. Efficient and courteous staff. I will go back without hesitation.
Fast, clean and delicious. The all-you-can-eat menu is varied and everything is excellent
it is not authentic szechuan restaurant . it is a generic another Chinese restaurant with limited cuisine options. if you are looking szechuan region food / cuisine , please dont visit here.
Very good meal Very good service Remarkably clean even the public toilets near the restaurant
Very delicious very good service and fast no bad comments
General Tao is unbeatable.
Im a killjoy but I found that the service was long and expensive for what it was....for me; disappointment!
On Saturday August 28, 2021, we were a group of 28 people for a 70th birthday. We were extremely well received... The service was excellent as usual and the dishes were always delicious and appetizing... For us, for all these years; question of Asian cuisine: Authentic Szechuan, still remains the best value for money in St-Hyacinthe... Zhou was just missing, to complete our evening... Thank you all!
My husband and I went to pick up our meal. Very fast, very good service and the food was exquisite! A very nice discovery.
In mass of food
Nice little dinner with my son and my husband on Sunday 2021.10.17. Excellent service, warm and courteous welcome
Very expensive and not great, very ordinary.
Ready quickly
A la carte chicken fried rice really good with lots of vegetables and chicken pieces. Hot and sour soup and general tao chicken are delicious. I recommend without hesitation.
Good food. VERY fast service.
We went for the first time and the man who welcomed us was very cold and I asked for explanations for the menu and the answers were not clear...very disappointed with the service. Basic food.
I loved the all-you-can-eat service at a Christmas party!
Always a treat. I recommend it!
Good and clean place.
Very nice place and good meal. THANKS
We went on Friday of Valentines Day, Very slow service. After 1/2 hour of being seated, we had to raise our hands so that we could order, because no one was coming to see us.... We gave him the list of dishes, mentioning that we were having red wine. His red wine was refrigerator temperature. Not drinkable. We had, our soup and 3 dishes. Soup and rolls hot, but other dishes, lukewarm to cold. Yet another 1/2 hour without having a visit from the waiter or waitress. Still obliged to ask the waiter to come see us. We tell him about the wine and ask him when we will get the rest of our order. He went to check the temperature in his cellar, but I dont think he knows that red doesnt go to the same place as white. Then he returned to the kitchen. The waitress came to see us, but she was a bit in a cloud..... There, we decided to leave seeing that there was no service. And during all this time, no dish came out of the kitchen for 45 minutes Is this their way of not providing their meals at will? We paid $55.00 and left for another restaurant. However, we had been well served when they were in the other building. ... Have they changed owners? In any case, I do not recommend this restaurant.
It looks like a cafeteria but its very good
Very good cuisine very good the owner very friendly I liked the old place better but. Still so good...
Very good cuisine, dedicated staff as before Covid-19 and very respectful of customers
Lunch menu very well priced and excellent! For all you can eat the portions are too big so you taste almost nothing. Very disappointed with this
Best Asian restaurant in town
Good. No service issues. Adequate portions.
I ve been going there every week for 8 years! I love all the dishes
The general tao chicken is excellent! Wonton soup too!
Beautiful, good, inexpensive. Advantageous lunch specials.
I just called this restaurant for a take-out order. Its sad, we would have ordered almost $150 worth of food, but the person I spoke to on the phone was so rude that I have rarely encountered. Immediately, this person started shouting while trying to explain to me how I should order the tasting menus. I asked the latter to lower his voice and he continued to shout. So I hung up without further ado. It s a shame, dear restaurateur, since you not only lost $150 today, but also a loyal customer who ordered a few times during the year. Worst customer service I have encountered. Damage!
quality
The food is delicious, and the service is great, I definitely will recommend to my friends
By far the best Asian restaurant in St-Hyacinthe. The products are exceptionally fresh. We love it.
Very very very... bad value for money. Food without finesse, it looks like cafeteria food . The texture of the sweet and sour soup was like snot, even though the staff assured us it was all normal. The waitresses were polite. I will never go back there.
The food is delicious, just spicy enough and the service is quick. On the other hand, I found that the portions to share were too big for two people. We cant taste everything even if we wanted to! We regretted ordering 6 choices! (4 dishes and two side dishes) 3 dishes and one side dish are enough for two people. Phew! On the other hand, its our mistake :) we can order much less at a time and I recommend it for a group.
Parking available. Sufficient space between tables allowing peace and discretion. Dynamic waitress. Acceptable portion. Interesting and tasteful fried shrimp dish. Competitive prices.
My favorite restaurant, there is no better general tao, I recommend it for lunch. In the evening, crispy sea salt shrimp. Crispy beef. Yum yum. At will and more
The chicken is excellent. Some beef dishes were not as good
Poor service, our waitress beyond stupid and her friend with their feet on the table in the middle of the restaurant. We charge $5 in taxes on a $7.60 bill. Too bad for the owner that he wasnt there this evening. A very bad image for this small restaurant.
Normally, Szechuan cuisine leaves me a little indifferent. But I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness and composition of the dishes. Especially considering that it is an establishment without any pretension! Its great fun to order almost the ENTIRE menu and then share all the dishes with friends. And its very affordable. I also believe that the owners would benefit from increasing prices from $0.50 to $1.00 on all menu items. On the other hand, I dont like feeling the pressure of having to leave because the restaurant closes around 9 p.m. I would happily give 5 stars if the restaurant stayed open until 10:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
The main meal was delicious; I had the General Tao Chicken. For dessert, there is a lack of choice. But everything was delicious.
Perfect !
So good.
Outstanding food and welcoming staff!
Very good restaurant at a good price. I recommend General Tao to you.
Very good! I dont ask for more!
Very good restaurant, the products are quality and the service impeccable.
Good and good service
Bad. Food service....bad
Beautiful warm atmosphere, courteous service. Good quality food good variety. Price a little expensive
It was very good...
Very good food and affordable prices
Authentic Asian food, its very good, excellent service at very affordable prices, you can eat for less than $20, for lovers of authentic Asian food I highly recommend it.
The food is really good (especially the crispy sesame beef)! The places are very clean.
Very good service
Good food, good varied choice.
Wow, the new restaurant is great. To discover or rediscover!
I love food.
Excellent but expensive
Excellent product and good and friendly service
New premises with a friendly atmosphere. The food and service are excellent.
Good menu, honest prices, calm atmosphere, conducive to discussion, especially since their move!-)
Simply delicious
Beautiful, courteous staff and very good, succulent food
Excellent service, nice atmosphere, excellent food
Quiet place for an inexpensive asian style meal.
Unpretentious, delicious, fast and efficient service.
Good all-you-can-eat restaurant with a la carte choice
Recently renovated, it is sober and open, but it lacks character. I take the tasting menu to have the opportunity to taste more dishes. The choice is correct, at $28 it is reasonable (Not comparable to La Perle in Pointe Claire, THE all-you-can-eat buffet reference). Portions are adequate, food fresh. -General Tao: 4.5/5 light breading, tasty sauce -Crispy Beef with sesame: 4/5 very crispy and hot -Chicken with peanut sauce + crispy spinach: 4/5 thin strips of chicken -Crispy pineapple chicken: 4/5 large pieces, enough pineapple -Szechuan-style shrimp: 3/5 large but overcooked -Chicken fried rice: 3/5 -Spring rolls: 4.5/5 All very good, except for the wilted spinach, which tastes bitter, the rice which has the right ingredients but lacks spice, plus the vegetables are frozen and dry. The sauce that comes with the shrimp is the same that comes with the crispy chicken. Anecdote: when I arrived, no one in the restaurant, I was alone. A couple arrives and the waitress comes to seat them DIRECTLY at the table next to me. ??? Fortunately, they asked for a bench seat and relocated.
Super bon
The restaurant is located in a new premises but the atmosphere is a little strange (arrangement of tables? music?)... For lunch the service is very fast and affordable. The vegetables are cooked just right and the quantities are sufficient. I took the general tao which was good, without too much breading and with a sauce that was perhaps a little too sweet. The service was fast and courteous. You shouldnt expect the experience of the century in this restaurant but on the go it does the job well!
Best restaurant ever!!!!!
Excellent
Food to share.....I love it! Very good too. Basic decor! But hey, we go there for the food and that s fine.
Excellent food
Excellent food!
Very long service even when there is no traffic. We waited 30 minutes for our plates to be brought to us without utensils... It was a very long time before the waiter came back to give us, the food was cold :(
Expensive, extremely long service and bland food.
The all-you-can-eat tasting menu is exquisite. Nice restaurant and good service
Exceptional! !!!! ! Simply delicious! Polite and courteous efficient service. Warm, dynamic and friendly place. Its worth the price even if its in the budget! All you can eat and delicious taste guaranteed, what more could you ask for!!!! We recommend to everyone. Each person we bring asks to come back later.... friends family colleague!!! A must!!!
The general tao pineapple chicken, sautéed vegetables and spring rolls are truly a real delight!!!
Excellent
The best asian restaurant in town
