Delightful lunch buffet!!!

First time trying here. We enjoyed the buffet. The atmosphere was wonderful, the place is clean and service was excellent. We enjoyed being able to try a some of everything they had out today for the buffet. It was all so fresh and we lliked most items. Also the fresh naan bread they bring to the table was delicious. Being first timers it was wonderful to have the items explained to us as to what they were. Experience over all excellent. Thank you.

I am updating this review to a five stars as the restaurant has recently improved the food, and services. The quality and taste of the dishes has improved.

2 years back,I gave bad review because of the bad food quality but now since few months I am constantly going there and taste is good and it is constant. They recently launched buffet, finally a buffet in Saint John with good options. Still need to taste tandoori chicken..if it is good and not like in the past then I will edit this rating to 5

The food was delicious, and the buffet option was offered at a great price. There is a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The food is not spicy, making it suitable for children as well. We particularly enjoyed the Bread Pakora, Garlic Naan, Chicken Biryani, Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken, and Paneer Butter Masala. We plan to visit again soon, as Royal King has thoroughly satisfied our cravings for Indian cuisine.

Bad Experience

I ordered a medium butter chicken with rice and naan. I thought the rice and naan would be included, but my order came to $27.00 for one person for lunch. It was really good, but I see they have a combo meal on their website for $14.99 which is the same as what I ordered. Kind of confused. Edit: Glad that you clarified that its a smaller portion. Can you let me know how much the buffet is?

The best buffet in town. Absolutely delicious and fresh. They have different menu everyday. For $21.99 there is a great variety and value for food.

Food was barely edible, and service was even worse. I found small hairs on my plate, so they re not following the proper sanitation rules when they re making food ie hairnets. You can find street food on India that tastes better than this restaurant. Would not recommend. Update: I don t understand why the reply is so passive aggressive. What friend?

Great service and delicious food, loved it, staff is polite, restaurant closes at 3 and reopens at 4pm, but we were little late , we ordered around 2:30pm and they let us sit inside. Great experience , for sure will be coming back here.

I absolutely loved the food at Spice Route Indian Buffet! The variety was incredible, with each dish offering a unique and authentic flavor. From the tender butter chicken to the fragrant biryani, everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed the freshly baked naan, which paired perfectly with the curries. The desserts, like the kheer were the perfect sweet ending to an amazing meal!

I recently visited Royal King and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The service was slow and inattentive. We had to wait an unreasonable amount of time just to place our order, and it only went downhill from there. The staff seemed disinterested and unhelpful, which made the dining experience frustrating. As for the food, it was far below expectations. The quality was poor, with dishes that were bland, overcooked, and lacking in flavor. It felt like minimal effort was put into preparing the meals, and the presentation was also lacking. For the price, I expected much better. Overall, I left feeling unsatisfied and regretted choosing this restaurant. I won t be returning and wouldn t recommend it to others. There are plenty of better options in the area. Vegetarian options: Not good in taste for the money

Soooooo good and authentic. I moved from ON near Brampton where we have lots of really good Indian food and have struggled in the East Coast to find good Indian food. Second time in a row here and its now my go to every time I stop in Saint John, I drive all the way from Fredericton and dont eat Indian unless it is from here or Ontario LOL! It is so good. And the staff are so welcoming and helpful. Parking: Diagonal parking lot, bit of a doggy alley but thats how you know the food is good ha.

The food was absolutely dreadful poorly cooked and clearly made with low-quality ingredients. The lack of care in preparation was obvious. As for the hospitality, it was non-existent. The staff were unfriendly, inattentive, and made us feel like an inconvenience. Save your time and money this place has neither quality nor hospitality.

Royal King is an awesome place for delicious Indian food. I was there in Saint John for 3 days, all the 3 days I had food in Royal King. I travelled with my kids, so there could not be a better place than Royal King to have Indian food. One day the restaurant was about to close and still they offered food. Appreciate their hospitality. Good ambience with Robot serving you food. My kids loved it. Would recommended anyone willing to try Indian food , definitely a must visit. Vegetarian options: Dosa, veg thali, and many veg options in curries and rice as well Parking: Just behind the restaurant they have around 10 parkins slots. Kid-friendliness: Yes, definitely kid friendly food and ambience.

Went for dine in quick snack and felt they don t want to take order, after 15 min of waiting when we ordered the lady said it take 15 to 20 minutes more to prepare food understandable!!! After waiting for 25 mins they said they don t have half of our food and they Didn t serve our drinks as well which was coke and lemonade. I never experienced that kind of bad customer service in anywhere , it was not busy at all just 3 table!!!!! Waste of time .

Came here while touring the east coast from Toronto. We were very pleasantly surprised. We expected a dulled down version of Indian food, as we are from Toronto. What we got was very good,authentic, Indian food. Each dish was different (we ordered fish, chicken and veg). Usually dont bother writing reviews ever, but I was really impressed. Service was good.

The butter chicken was delicious. So was the masala naan! I really loved this food a lot. I was blown away by it.

Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. When we voiced that what we ordered dhaba chicken is was far more spicy then what we had the last time we went. The server said he would change it for us and when we asked him if he wanted the chicken back he said if you want !! We were already eating the leg as we didn t want to be rude. I would have given back the leg too. Now getting accused of wanting free food . Very unprofessional and disgusting to get accused of something that was not our intent. If they can be very rude in responses on google reviews image how they are in person. Don t come here.

Ordered on DoorDash. Waited 1 hour then the order was cancelled by the store. Food never comes with rice.

Unfortunately, not upto the mark for the money spent. I had visited the restaurant in February and it happened to be a bad experience. Except the Chilli/Dry Manchurian, all the other items we ordered were poor in taste and quality. The butter chicken seemed like it was just slightly cooked canned Tomato with meat in it. With positive reviews from other customers, the experience was not worth especially with the wait.

We ve waited for 40 min just to get basic appetizers and there was no other people in restaurant . But food was good.

We ate on a Saturday night around 7pm. There was only 4 other families at the restaurant. Despite that, We waited a long time before ordering. There were 2 waiters working that night - One of the waiters was on their phone most of the time. The other waiter took a long time to come take our order. Once the food came, no one came to check on us. We ate our food, it was okay. Everything tasted fresh, it was well spiced. We waited almost half an hour once we were finished eating but no one came to bring us the bill. Finally, we went up to the cash to pay. Food itself was pretty good but the service was not great.

Great location, large and bright. Waitress was friendly, welcoming and the robot delivery was fun. Food? A M A Z I N G!! Enjoyed the Thaali, a little of everything, and went home with lots of leftovers. Definitely will return with a bit more time to explore and enjoy the wonderful foods.

Fair review!! Sorry buddy but might need to work on things. While traveling from Toronto to Saint John in search of authentic Indian cuisine, my expectations were met with disappointment. Despite positive reviews from fellow Indians, the service was notably poor and slow. The considerable amount spent on the meal warranted better service expectations. Its evident that the lady I encountered is not the owner, but whoever is managing the restaurant needs to understand how to run it efficiently. The ambiance reflected an old-style Indian setting, and the food lived up to the expectations of Indian taste. Overall - provide star and feedback how i feel after travel many restaurants around canada, might other don t expect and might they treated well.

If you want an upset stomach for at least 2-3 days and have never tried Indian stale food, then do visit this pathetic restaurant. I guess they dont have a cook for bread because it seems like they are importing it directly from India

I have been to almost all the Indian Restaurants in Canada right from Ontario to New Brunswick.But this place Royal King on Union street in Saint John is the Best of all. Clean environment, fresh and tasty food and perfect service. Highly recommended

Always my go to for take out on the way home from work on Friday nights. I havent had a bad meal from them! Always delicious and even survives my 30 min drive home before eating it. Dinning in isnt the best atmosphere so I wouldnt recommend an eat in date night but I would highly recommend for a take out night!! Will definitely be ordering take out again! Parking: Parking lot is crammed on hill, hard to locate but it is next to the building.

Nice food, good ambience

Food was just yum! We tried the dal makhani, kadhai paneer and malai kofta! Other than the koftas being a bit hard, the food was just sublime! The naan was nicely cooked! And service was super fast! We even had some takeouts and they made sure to make them all good! Definitely recommend

We ordered Shahi Paneer and some other items. We were told Shahi Paneer is not available, however, after 2 minutes, we were informed its available. When Shahi Paneer was served , we could clearly see that Gravy was prepared for some other item but was used for Shahi Paneer. It tasted awful and even other items were not up to the mark. Please dont serve if not prepared.

My first visit to Saint John will have many beautiful memories. But above all, the delicious food @ Royal King has taken toll over everything else

I also really enjoy the polite and low-key approach taken by the servers -- great for those of us who arent into overwhelmingly attentive service. Highly recommend!

Got a few lunches to take out recently, service was friendly and the food was tasty, although I have to say I think I prefer the same dishes at the India King in Moncton. Good value for lunch combos, we will be back.

I went by seeing the rating. I had ordered Biriyani , chicken tikka masala etc. I did not like the food at all. Service time was too much.

Great portion on the curry, was concerned about the entree price at first, but the portion size was relative to the cost. Roti was excellent. Go for two servings of jeera though.

Food taste satisfactory, just a little too oily, timely service, naan size smaller than average size you get at most places so order accordingly. The restaurant have its own parking space.

Everything is prepared with care and fresh ingredients. I was blown away every time I dined there and always recommend it to anyone asking where to grab a bite. The flavours are rich and as far as Im concerned authentic. It may take a while to get your food but if youre getting take out they will give you a time estimate so you can roam the city while youre waiting without having to worry your food gets cold. And the wait is always worth it in the end. I cannot praise this place enough. Vegetarian options: Great set of vegetarian options to offer, no difference in quality or taste compared to the non veggie courses.

It lost one star for price, as it s pricey for Indian food (I moved from Ontario where rent and minimum wages are much higher, yet Indian food prices are much lower). If it wasn t for price, I d give this 5 stars. However, after reading the owner s response, I m lowering my rating. That s no way to talk to patrons, especially ones that gave you a high rating.

The butter chicken and chicken tikka masala are fantastic dishes. The naan bread is the best I ve ever had. A nice, quiet sit down restaurant. Expect slightly longer service times as the food is made from scratch and is absolutely wonderful.

I ordered Tandoori Chicken and it took more than 1 hour for them to prepare. The waitress had told me that it ll take just 30 minutes for which I agreed upon, but taking an hour to come up with my order is just not done. The restaurant wasn t that busy either. In spite of taking so much time, the chicken was completely tasteless and half cooked, and not at all worth the time and money. I have no idea whats up with the service. Atleast they should have informed us that they will be taking this long instead of promising the 30min service, so that we could have planned accordingly. Honestly I feel the only reason this place has been running since so long is because they don t really have any other competition in the fine Indian dining section in SJ, otherwise this place would have been long gone by now. To all those who are planning to try this place out, I d suggest go to Moncton or Fredericton to have a decent indian food. Anyway, these folks take more than an hour to prepare a completely tasteless chicken so in roughly that much time it s better to go to some other city and get your cravings satisfied, because clearly Royal King Saint John is not the answer. Also, they somehow have managed to maintain this thing where we are not supposed to give a negative feedback on any of the WhatsApp group, otherwise I would have posted this review there for the owner to know. This is the only place where I can post this, so I expect the leadership team to look upon this and fix so many broken things in their restaurant as soon as possible.

Visited the Atlantic region in Canada this year. The cruise takaes you to the beautiful ciry of Saint John. And you have a hidden gem- Royal King. Food is praiseworthy and ambience is lovely. Their chicken Tikka Masala is way better than all the places I have eaten till date.

I ordered Chicken Biryani and tandoori chicken biryani, it cost 19$ each. Total was 52 dollars on Doordash. ( Just two things) Absolutely disgusting and no taste at all, felt like i have wasted my money. it use to be a good place with good taste, But now it is the opposite, No Service, No Taste, Waste of Time and Money. we can make better food at home. Food was so soggy, Not fresh at all. Food was trash, Had to order pizza after. i would not recommend anyone.

We ordered chicken biryani and it was soggy. Chicken was flavourless. Food is not same as it was few months back. The taste of rice is also flat. We weren t able to eat. Wasted $50 and then we had to order pizza. They had lost a lot of customers in last one year. We have been hearing a lot of negative reviews in Saint John. But today it is proved that food and taste is dead in this restaurant.

Their Non Veg Thaali is so flavourful.I visit almost everyday. These guys never disappoint

Waited 90mins and no sign of our food arriving, no communication, no apology, nothing .the usual thing would be to bring some free appetisers and apologise for the wait ..

Have ordered paneer kulcha and the quality was worse than ever, neither the stuffing was well seasoned nor it was cooked properly, just felt like chewing the dough! Highly disappointed.

Update # Dec 1, 2023 Sitting in the restaurant while writing this review. The service has improved quite a bit but the wait times are still crazy. Ordered Chiily chicken, Chole bature, lamb Rogan Josh, garlic Naan and kulcha . Chilly chicken was good and so was the bature. Rogan Josh had coconut milk in it which was very weird. They apologized and made a fresh one. Waited again and this time it tasted of Kashmiri chilly and the spices were messed up. Sent it back. Can5 say anything good about the food today. Food was amazing. We had the samosa chaat, Chole Bature and non veg thali. Everything was perfection. The Naan were fresh but very dry. Service was very slow and the staff was not very pleasant. Restaurant was clean enough but the washroom stank and there were flies. But we loved the food and will be going again soon. Definitely recommended for the food. Advise to restaurant owners, please be a little more courteous and smile for the customers. Also, kindly clean the washrooms.

Very Bad experience, arrogant staff , specifically the chef ( owner ) . They dont know what customer service is. Worst experience. Ordered kadhai paneer and got gravy only few piece of paneer and not Capsicum. Also , the were arguing that this is how its made . Its not the first time , happened before as well. Dont go there if you looking taste and service . Go there to waste money .

The food was little bit good but customer service was not because it takes too much time and when we ask them for this is not kadahi paneer because i did not find capsicum in that which is used in that, instead of apologizing me, the owner and staff was doing argument with me. When i ordered gajar ka halwa, they said we have only gulab jamun in dessert, if they have always gulab jamun on menu, why you did not remove from it. If anyone said to me find indian food in St John, I will definitely say no to your restaurant. Sorry, royal king, if you wanna make more profit and go for long term, please improve these mistakes otherwise your restaurant may be closed soon.

A bit pricy but easily the best Indian food in town

I am new to saint john. Tried this place for dosa and chana bhatura for breakfast yesterday, it was beyond my expectations. Tried indo Chinese item on the menu today and it was blended perfectly. My friend had chicken briyani and he says he had never had this kind of briyani before . All items on the menu are a must try.

You will not be disappointed here. We eat here regularly. Sandy is an amazing, authentic Chef. Fabulous food and good service. Highly recommend as one of the best in Saint John, bar none.
