The Guobao Pork is absolutely authentic and has not been modified. It is known as the best Guobao Pork in Canada. The open kitchen A restaurant that prepares Chinese food with great care satisfies my appetite. We originally wanted to order another fish-flavored eggplant, but the lady boss refused, saying that what we ordered was already enough. It was indeed a large quantity. Chinese people close their eyes, every dish is delicious! Especially the hand-made bread, absolutely amazing! The Guobao Pork is the most authentic I have ever tasted in Canada. This is by far THE best Chinese restaurant in Maritime! The authenitiy of the food and the quality making is beyond my expectations. The Guo Bao Rou is so authentic that even most part of China you wont get it this accurate. Their handmade buns are so good just taste like any grandma making from home. Omg their service, with how limited the staff are the host is so wonderful!!! She work with efficiency, passion and give so much emotional value to customers! Like Wow how did she just do that with so many people needed to attend!! ! You must pay a visit to this place if you are in the area. You must. Its truly spectacular!

Made a reservation for my daughters 17th birthday dinner with family. Service was incredibly bad. Waited 1.5hrs for the dish I ordered before canceling as everyone else had eaten already. Atleast 3 other tables that sat after us were served food first(one was the beef and broccoli we were waiting for)? When it came time to settle the bill for the food we did recieve, it took over 20 mins for the server and chef to figure out a total. This was the worst dining experience my family has had in a long time. Do not recommend will not be back!

Perfect restaurant

There was not enough lighting in the establishment for us, because... all the windows were curtained. It was uncomfortable for my husband to sit on hard wooden benches for a long time, especially without a backrest to support his back. I liked that the tables were made of quality wood and also liked seeing the kitchen in action. The music played quietly and pleasantly. The staff was polite and helped with choosing dishes. We are foreigners, and it is difficult for us to choose anything from a menu that does not have examples of dishes in the pictures. In general, we come from Eastern Europe and this is only the second time in our lives that we are getting acquainted with Chinese cuisine, and this restaurant was recommended to me by my Chinese colleague. But when you don t absolutely understand Chinese food, then choosing only by text and name is quite a quest! Pictures would be very helpful in making a choice, but they are not on the menu! Thanks to Google and the feedback from people who added photos! For 4 people we ordered Tonkatsu Ramen 4 servings, Pork bellies 1 serving + this dish served with rice in a deep plate, pork dumplings 2 servings. Bottom line: the soup was tasty and not spicy, the portion was very large, but for us the soup was slightly too salty, and the meat in the soup was very tasty and melted in the mouth. The greens in the soup had a slightly strange, unfamiliar flavor to us. I attribute this to the fact that we are simply strangers and haven t eaten these greens before, but trying something new and unusual is cool! The pork bellies were very tender and tasty, but we found the sauce a little too sweet for our liking. I know that here in Canada, the cuisine of many countries around the world adapts to the locals, who love everything over-sweetened and over-salted, but a Chinese friend said that in MiMiMi the dishes are as close as possible to the original. Even like the original! Well, I thought it was still too much. Afterwards I drank water all evening and it dried me out. I also liked the broccoli cooked al dente. Honestly, I wouldnt recommend the pork dumplings. This frankly did not make me happy. My rating for the dumplings is 3 out of 5. The taste of the broth and the quality of the minced meat were not at the highest level, as I would have done myself at home. We prepare traditional dumplings with pork at home, and I can say that they are tastier. We were really full, I would even say that we clearly overate and took the leftover food with us. Prices: For 4 servings of Tonkatsu Ramen soup, 1 large bowl of Pork Belly with Broccoli and Rice, 2 servings of Pork Dumplings (2 x 4 pieces = 8 pieces total), plus 15% server tip and tax, we paid 200 CAD dollars! Oh God! Conclusion: next time I will try to find a cheaper place, because it is very expensive, but at the same time it does not fully satisfy my criteria for taste and interior. Alas, I will not return and will not overpay that much again. My overall rating is 3.5 out of 5. P.S. When I told the locals at work what I ordered and how much the final price ended up costing me, their eyes were very round and it really impressed them, I would say shocked them. MiMiMi is not bad, but bye-bye!

There were 3 of us that shared 5 different dim sum options. They were all delicious but all bite size and left us still hungry when we left. Kinda expensive for the size they are. Either they have to get bigger, or the price has to go down a bit. I would like to eat here again , but not sure if I will with current prices

Great Ramen in Saint John.

The Ramen Tonkatsu was awesome. Lots of depth to the broth and the meat was tender and flavourful. Gorgeous presentation to boot. Im going back for sure.

The atmosphere inside was very peaceful and relaxing. The service was quick and you can watch them cook it so there is no hiding anything! I got pork stir fry and it is delicious. Highly recommend.

Possibly the best restaurant in Saint John! The menu and quality were excellent. If you are looking for Asian style food come here!

We were visiting from out of town and called to make a reservation. Seated in a relatively quiet and private section of the restaurant, which was great. The kitchen is honestly breathtaking and much grander than you would expect from the nondescript outside. From the Google page, I had the impression that Mimimi had something similar to an Indian thali on the menu, but a Chinese version. Short of building your own combo with the app or dim sum options, there is not. And it would be very, very expensive to build your own at 7$-28$ per item. I was pretty disappointed by that, personally. It also left me a little overwhelmed, as there is no description of the menu items in the app or dim sum menu, so I recommend having your phone on you to Google some things... or be ready to ask your server, if its your first time here. Now, I have the incredible fortune of having a place called Tokyo Ramen for delicious ramen (and No.1 Noodle for authentic pho) where I live, so its impossible for me for me to say that Mimimis pho was comparible or worth the hefty 24$ price tag. Not when I am used to 18$~ for something (honestly) better. I found the pho lacking dimension, and a little bland. If you are to pay $24 for pho, it should taste like liquid gold! With plenty of aromatics and little extras to add, like fresh chopped onions, cabbage, bean sprouts, lime, etc that you can add in yourself. This brings me to my next issue, which is that the steamed dumplings are 3$ a piece, but you cant mix and match. There was also not much in the way of garnish or dipping sauces, a small side, or anything to bolster up the dish and make it feel worth its high cost. Overall, I found the server pleasant and sweet, eager to help, but it didnt do much to change how clunky and rough my experience was. In its current state, I am not inclined to recommend Mimimi above other restaurants, and it is debatable whether I might be drawn to return.

Had the Tonkatsu Ramen and the spicier TanTan spicy miso Ramen. Both were excellent and good portion sizes. Some of the most flavourful broth I have ever had. The service for pickup was quick and efficient. Will be back.

I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday and she was super pumped The chef / owner served us and even did like wine service with the bottle we ordered Super informative about the food as well which was fantastic! While the food was really good, I feel it was a bit watered down it was just missing a small something to beat other tonkatsu ramen I have had. Strangely (and unfortunately for me), my second visit the tonkatsu had cilantro in it. Personally it made it taste like soap, if you are like me, maybe ask for it without cilantro. Not sure the attitude you may get from the server.... (Foreshadowing for below) This place has a bar you can sit at to eat your food, which is neat to watch the kitchen. (Seating is all wooden, benches have no back, if you have back issues probably dont eat here) My first visit (solo) the waiter never checked in on me, and also gave me a fork... I had to ask for chopsticks. No big deal ( usually ) After my second visit with my partner, we confirmed the server to have a condescending attitude. He was able to singlehandedly ruin the atmosphere of the place, and made eating there feel very awkward. If he is also the owner, I would hope he sees this and takes some classes on how to be more welcoming to customers. The food is great, just maybe dont eat here if you dont look like the clientele they prefer? (Edit, another person mentioned the bathrooms dont lock, they do, its just the button to lock it is under the handle )

This was my first time coming here. I was purely following google here as I had to come around in the area. I ordered one dish for myself and the portion was basically stuffed me well. I wanted to try other dish but I was too full. I suggested you come with friends and family then share the dishes. So, you can try more in one visit. There is plenty of parking spaces for the restaurant and nearby business.

My experience here was great. The service was quick and professional. The tonkatsu was beautifully presented, and it tasted as good as it looked. The server was kind and helpful. I would definitely go here again, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys ramen.

I wouldn t recommend this restaurant. I came with a group of 2 and the waiter brought each of our dishes at different times, which meant that i was stuck waiting for my pad thai for about an hour while my other friends ate. Even when I got my meal, the pad thai was bland and my other friends weren t impressed either. Overall, anyone who likes Asian food would fare better at a different restaurant with better tasting food and wait times.

100% Best Ramen I ve ever had! Ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and The Taro Streamed Bun twice now! Will for sure be returning again sometime soon.

This was my first time eating here and I cant rave enough about this restaurant!!! The quality and portion sizes of the food was amazing! For those who would complain about their prices, well they are on par with every other high end Asian cuisine restaurant here in Saint John, so in my opinion very fair! The service and atmosphere were fantastic. This has become hands down one of our favorite restaurants! Highly recommend trying it out, you definitely will not be disappointed!!

Went here for the first time and was surprised at how lovely the spot is. It was nice, clean and very open. Tried the pad Thai and the ramen. The ramen was very good and the meat was tender and flavourful.

With 8 adults and 5 children in tow, we ventured into this culinary gem that our cousin, a New Brunswick local and frequent visitor, holds in high regard. As someone who has savored dim sum and Chinese cuisines across the globe, I can confidently say that Mimimi stands among the best in its class. The beautiful and intimate setting, enhanced by dimmed lights, created a perfect backdrop for our family gathering. It struck a balance between elegance and warmth, setting the stage for a memorable evening. One lingering mystery, however, remains the meaning behind Mimimi. Despite the fantastic dining experience, Ive yet to inquire about the story or significance behind the intriguing name.

Amazing food, amazing service. Our spicy dish wasnt spicy enough and they apologized profusely and said they actually cant spic up anything more than a touch cause people complain easily. Theyve even hosted a spice event just to be able to offer truly spicy food which sounds amazing. In this case, they took it back, made it spicier, gave us their chili sauce and a quick housemade jalapeño salad more or less. Both things were incredibly delicious and added the perfect amount of spice and flavor to their already delicious food. We loved the hospitality and will absolutely be back again.

Go and eat, the chef cares more about impressing the guests than he does about breathing air. Nobody does it better than mimimi. If you hate amazing food, dont go there.

Food was good but portions are small for the price. We got pineapple curry chicken and there wouldn t be 4 dollars worth of chicken in it. It was a lot better last time i went.

My spouse and I went to get Dim Sum tonight and it was amazing. The service was excellent and each and every dish we got was impeccable. Next time I am in Saint John I will revisit.

I enjoyed the bbq pork buns and pho for lunch since it was such a rainy and cold day. I like my pho super spicy so the chef was very attentive and brought out additional chilies, and even some of his kimchi . Its been hard to find good asain food in St John but Mimimi was great! Their prices are comparable to other good asain restaurants Ive been too, but the service was top notch!

The decor and ambience of the restaurant are beautiful, and the service is good. I will even go so far as to say the food is excellent quality (though I had very little, which brings me to my main point...). The prices, however, are absurd. Absolutely absurd. $9 for two beef balls no bigger than golf balls? I know there are many overhead expenses in a restaurant and that food prices are higher than theyve probably ever been, but the quality of the food does NOT justify the cost at these portion sizes.

The soup was good, one star for that. Otherwise, the waitress brought something completely different than what we ordered - I had ordered Pad Thai, it came with some noodles with chicken instead of shrimp that had nothing to do with Pad Thai.

cool atmosphere, good table service but unfortunately not impressed by the food quality at all. We arrived at the time of our reservation and food took more than 30 minutes to be served. Dishes came at different times so I waited meanwhile my party was already eating and vice versa. Not sure I am going to go back to this restaurant.

This without question the best restaurant in Saint John. I tried this restaurant for the first time last night and have only the best things to say about it. Only sorry it took me so long to go there. We have already made plans to go back on October. Generally I go to Splash( which is also great) but mimimi gets one extra star in rating. It was delicious and great people serving and plentiful helpings and reasonably priced. Can t wait to go back and we are ordering take out as a family this weekend.

The food here is always improving, and they patiently extract my comments on the dishes. Before serving a new dish they will give me some randomly to try, I like the environment and the dishes here.

A beautiful setting and delicious food

Ordered Taro Buns, Tonkastu Ramen, and Chicken Cashew Stir Fry. The Taro Buns are absolutely fantastic and I will be back for them 1000%. The other dishes were wonderful as well! Im not normally an egg in the ramen type of guy but the whole mini eggs were a nice surprise and quite enjoyable!

Great dim sum! Highly recommend the BBQ pork buns and lotus leaf sticky rice! Siaomai and hargao were perfect. Love the atmosphere and owners/chefs are so friendly.

Fantastic! Loved the atmosphere, and the green Thai curry was absolutely delicious!

This was HORRIBLE. We made a reservation for 6:30 and didn t get our food until 8:20pm. It took 45 minutes for the apps alone, and then another 45 for the main course. We had a a larger group so a longer wait time is expected, but nearly 2 hours is outrageous. and the food didn t all arrive at the same time either, the last meal wasn t out until 8:30 and the first one was out at 7:45. Not to mention the food was bland, and the shrimp tasted like sewer water. The service was poor and the chefs even flipped out at us after someone from our group said that after not getting their food after an hour and a half they re refusing to pay for their meal. All the seats were also all benches with no back on them, which after a short while got extremely uncomfortable. There was only one table by the time we got there, three more sat down and they all left before us. Overall i wouldn t recommend this restaurant to anyone, if we came with a smaller group the experience may have different, but no atmosphere or anything to make me want to come back. Also just to mention the bathrooms didn t have any locks on them either.

Another perfect dining experience at Mimimi! Incredible food, wonderful service. I love this restaurant, staff are super friendly and attentive. The dining area is spacious and well appointed. The entire facility is spotless. Picture in this order are our entrés, Mo Gu You Cai, Chao Za Cai, Guo Bao Rou, and lastly followed by Vegeterian Dim Sum. Eating here always reminds me of living in China!

Food not authentic even though they claim it to be. Many frozen items and the spicy sauce is Lao Gan Ma which you can just buy at any Chinese convenience. Way overpriced for the quality of food. Bad customer service.

BLATANT RIP OFF !! We went there for lunch and you can only order dim sum (which I love). When it came it was just frozen/reheated reheated stuff and was TINY. Our bill was $15 per person but everyone went for a burger afterwards because we were still hungry. How this place gets a 4 star rating in baffling to me. They lost out on what would have become regular customers for sure. Very sad experience.

Very bad experience, we decided to try Asian food here while visiting NB. We felt discriminated by the staff. They did not give us cutlery, until we asked, we had to ask for each and every thing. The food was horrible, we had to take allergy meds as soon as we reached the hotel. The oil the food was prepared tasted old l and had a weird aftertaste Would not recommend at all, even as a last resort unfortunately I need to choose a min of one star, or I would give them a zero...

MM-MM-MM So glad I visited this restaurant. Loved the Dim Sum. Good to know that I don t have to travel outside New Brunswick for this delicacy. Only one small thing missing from the Dim Sum menu Fong Zhao (look it up) Oh, and you can disregard the negative reviews posted here.

If you haven t eaten here, you MUST try it!!! I am from Toronto and this is the best authentic Chinese food I have found in NB so far. We have been a many times and everything we have had was delicious. Can t wait to be back to try everything on the menu :) the shrimp rice roll and bbq pork buns are excellent quality dim sum (so is the rest but we can t get enough of those 2)! We loved the bok choy and oyster mushrooms, and while the chicken pad Thai is a fusion of Chinese and Thai, we have ordered it multiple times because it s DELICIOUS. Nice atmosphere too! Open concept kitchen so it s a little warm, dress accordingly. It is worth it!

The food, service, presentation and ambience at Mimimi were all EXCELLENT and I am soooo looking forward to being able to eat here again as soon as possible! Especially not-to-be-missed are the tofu pocket appetizers in fish roe and crawfish options with a perfect chili dipping sauce. These crispy little pockets were as beautiful to look at as they were delicious to eat! I had the Green Thai Curry and it was amongst the best Ive ever had. My companions had the Red Thai Curry, Ramen, and Guo Bao Rou and we all gave our meals 2 thumbs up 5 stars WONDERFUL.

Great food and large portions. We got the chicken teriyaki stir fry and it was absolutely delicious! We also got the pineapple curry. Beautiful atmosphere. Will definitely come back

Great ambience, great staff and even better food. We had an entree, 2 appetizers, 1 dumpling, 1 large soup and more dumplings. Didnt realise we had been sitting there eating for over 2 hours. Must try for Saint Johners.

Delicious food and great service!

It was an amazing meal. I spent many years living in Toronto. This rivals any of Torontos top chinese restaurants. We had Pork Belly, BBQ Ribs, and Dim Sum. It was fantastic. We will be back for sure. If you are ever in Saint John, check this place out.

First time here. We had the Ma Ya Lu (fish soup). So interesting and delicious. Great also to have the chef come to our table and interact. We will be back.

Food was excellent but buyer beware. Half of our food did not come. Waitress did not pay any attention to us for long time after we finished and then when the cook asked how our meal was only then did they start the rest of our order. Came 40m after we finished and charged us anyway. Should not take 2h to get 3 dim sum.

First time there, really good steamed buns and ramen. Everything is prepared to order and clearly fresh ingredients. Looks plain on the outside but really nicely decorated inside.

What a lovely dining experience! Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Truly a hidden gem! We tried the Tonkotsu and the Guo Bao Rou and they were both delicious! Cant wait to go back again.

Just so you know, it positions itself as fine dining but it aint what your gettin. My verdict is, if your staple food is asian dish your entire life, this restaurant will be too westernized for your taste. Just look at the reviews.

Excellent dishes! Authenticity is exercised at its best. Try the Lucky Buddha beer as well. In case you have aningredient to be taken out from your dish they are more than happy to accommodate your tastes. Bin apetite!

Every dim sum we ordered there came from the instant frozen food packs that you can get from every Chinese grocery store - tasted like strong MSG. Terrible service. They rudely asked for 15% tip before we paid the bill, without even caring if we were satisfied with the food or service. They seemed to be nice to the Canadian customers but interestingly treated Chinese poorly. Very pricey rice noodle bowl with zero vegetable and just tiny bit of ground beef in it. We only went there once but due to the disrespectful service and bad-quality instant dim sum we will never return or recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic place to dine. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Stylish decor and very chill atmosphere. Theyve got a separate vegetarian menu for any vegans looking to get some amazing traditional Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Food was wonderful, super flavourful! The male owner was not bad , but his wife, the female staff is only friendly to white people. She was so rude and neglected to people who speak Mandarin. This woman never smile to us and people sit at next table who speak Mandarin as well. At the same time, she became so frienly to the third table customers that were white.Tough they just came in, she went to serve them with napkins and utensils. The next table and we were still no service. When our soup arrived, the server splashed the hot soup to my daughters clothes, but theres still nothing on our table. So I grabbed a napkin from the bar for her. The woman didnt say sorry to us, but also upset and blame us in Chinese : Hey you cant get anything from the bar without permission! I cant believe that she didnt apologize but even blamed to me ?! How rude and ridiculous the female staff! Food were definitely overprice. We were totally understand Chinese food so we knew theyre bad quality. They are not made from scratch, all heated from frozen fast food. You can buy those dimsum from the Asian grocery store near by and get much cheaper price. Anyway its the worse experience I have ever been.

Sweet and sour pork short ribs were neither sweet or sour. They were watery and tasteless. Mapo tofu was ok. The tofu had harder texture than is appropriate for this dish. Dumplings had good size and bite. Went better with soy sauce. Shrimp rice rolls were amazing and the highlight of my meal. I recommend getting them.

Authentic and Delicious, never have I been disappointed. Eating in is best but some dishes are excellent to order to go. If you are new to the place, the staff make great suggestions.

What a gem this place is. Authentic northern Chinese featuring a variety of other regionally inspired dishes in an unassuming plaza. The owner is super sweet, and the food is freaking phenomenal. Cant wait to come back. Also: get the the Guo Bao Rou. Just do it.
