We were there today 9 Aug. ordered Vegetarian Curry $25.00 Chickpeas, bell peppers, onion, tomato, yogurt, curry on basmati rice. Told the waitress we need spicy. It was not spicy. Chick peas with big lumps of tomatoes no spices. Big chunks of capsicum Rice did not look like basmati very small portion. We asked fur little onions and they charged $3 for very very little onion. Forgot to take pic. Not happy at all There was no yogurt.
Review based on administrative efficacy.Could not give a zero, and the one staff member available was too nice for a one. On a busy evening they had one staff member attending to the bar and restaurant. 10 min to get a menu...OK 45 minutes waiting for a soup and some nachos...left ,after excusing ourselves with the poor, embarrassed employee who offered apologies. No apologies needed, just better management.A bistro catering mostly to tired Hotel guests who want a quick meal and a warm bed, should be more aware abd more considerate of its staff
Had dinner twice there as I was staying at the Hilton. First night got the Nachos, they were pretty nice, good portions and very fresh. Second night was the Fish N Chip, which was disappointing, the tartar sauce felt weak, the batter was soggy, and the fish tasteless. Nice selection of draft beer, but they are over 11$ a pint.
We were in a group of 12 (7 adults and 5 children) for Sunday breakfast buffet and due to an online scheduling issue we arrived just minutes before they closed at 11. The staff were more than accommodating and handled the mixup with kindness, understanding and even missed a break to be sure we were looked after. The food was delicious, plentiful and varied. The chef (Louise) even came out as we were leaving to say that if we come again for breakfast we should call ahead and she would be sure to have the yummy grilled bread pudding on the menu. The location has a great view of the harbour too. This was our first time at this restaurant and we will be back.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE? I think the chef changed and the new menu is reduced smartly but very limited options (especially for starters). We got the smash burger, very thin dry .. kind of like a mcdonalds patty as sad as it sounds, had more bread than patty. Side of poutine was good, fair amount and ratio of cheese curds and gravy. The other order was the chicken burger with a side of fries (100% costco fries the ones that are breaded), pretty disappointing that a fine dining can’t cut their own potatoes.. I got a side of gravy too that was soooo watery it had the consistency of soup. Unfortunately, very disappointing food. Service was good, our server was Karen, she was great. Drinks were good.
Decent spot for breakfast, great view of the port and friendly staff. Orders the poutine meal and there was way too much food for me…
The hours on Google are incorrect - they open at 5 on Saturdays. The phone number listed for the business is out of service. All that to say I'm disappointed I didn't get their perogies. It's quite a nice dish. Update December 2022 - the menu has been updated with fewer options. The perogies have gone the way of the buffalo. Probably the best nachos in Saint John.
Spent 4 nights at the attached hotel, every morning breakfast was delicious, the waitress were busy but very friendly and didnt have to wait overly long for service. We even tried drinks and apps one night, the definitely did not disappoint.
Nice locations and very good food with reasonable price!
Its a bit of a shame, about 6 months ago this was one of my favorite places to eat when in town. Food is bad, kind of felt like they just didnt care anymore. Seafood chowder only tasted like potato soup and very overcooked steak bites during what is supposed to be steak fest. Unfortunately, just cant recommend this place anymore.
45 minuite wait just to be asked about food while other tables (that arrived after us) were being served, even after consistent questions on food no server came. Ended up just leaving
I personally think that the view outside while eating is their best attraction.
Don t waste your time. Place is horrible. Service is bad. Food is underwhelming
Someone below commented that they had the best nachos in SJ: that was obviously some sort of cruel joke that I fell for. Nice view and decent selection of beer and cocktails but unless you are too tired to walk the 50 yards to the ale house or something else, dont order food here.
The breakfast buffet was great! They made me the eggs I wanted. Bacon was delicious. It had everything. Friendly, fast and efficient staff!
The place is good, but very expensive for the quality they offer.
My family and I spent a night in St John NB and decided to eat at this restaurant, the food was awesome! There was only one waitress/bus boy/hostess/bartender working (Elise). She did everything as they were obviously short staffed. She didnt skip a beat and did all this with an infectious smile on her face. Additionally, one of her regular customers surprisingly paid for our entire meal! What an awesome night! I normally do not give alot of reviews but felt Elise really deserves to be recognized. I would also like to thank the Wonderful, kind gentleman and his wife who paid for our meal. Bless their wonderful hearts! Love this east coast hospitality. Will definitely visit again !!
Friendly staff however the food is very over priced for the quantity and quality.
Always heard great things but was extremely disappointed. We were seemingly the only ones without a prepaid breakfast and were certainly treated as such. No option of a menu for us, but was offered to other people. Our only option then was a buffet breakfast, which came to $50 for 2 people! Absolutely ludicrous considering what was offered and the terrible service we received. No sugar or sweetener for the disgusting coffee, had to go borrow from someone elses table. Will definitely never go back, even if only because of the rude manager and kitchen staff. Very disappointed.
Great food
My family always stays at the hilton in St. John and this place is one of the main reasons. The food is always fantastic and if you hit the breakfast or lunch buffet bring pants that stretch trust me. The staff is always fantastic and always make us feel welcome and rememberd us after almost a year this is a 5 star place in my opinion.
Food is good. But it takes them soooo long to serve the dish. Beware if youre in a hurry.
Great Thai buffet, great tasting food and great friendly staff! Good price and Will go again!
Restaurant built-in Hilton hotel along with harbour passage and seaside. Nice view.
From the kids menu everything was great. Especially the Mac and cheese! From the adult version, we liked the chicken and veggie soup and the hanger steak is amazing. The scallops I wasnt a fan of and the starter mussels are just ok. When theyre hot and not fishy theyre awesome but once they brought them out cold and sometimes I get really ocean tasting ones. But the hanger steak and Mac and cheese make up for all - especially paired with their great service.
I ordered the $30 cutting board....i was very disappointed that the slices of meat were quite thick and sinuey meat that was hard to chew
