Healthy, fresh, and authentic tacos, bowls, and burritos
Me and my two best friends went while spending the day uptown. The owner (I think) was incredibly accommodating of my gluten free diet, and we had a lovely chat. I didn't mind that he wasn't the most knowledgeable, because whenever me or my friend raised a concern he was hugely respectful and found out before proceeding. He was even very chill when I had to change my order to accommodate! Overall we were all very pleased! I had the Toro Bowl, one friend had the nachos (the chips are colorful which we found fun!), and the other had a burrito... none of us were disappointed! As long as whoever serves you is willing to communicate, this place is great for gluten free!
Asked for brown rice, gave me white. Asked for guac charged me $3 last week it was $1. Very small portion of chicken, and server appeared to be extremely under the influence. Will not be back.
Best taco place I've ever been! My burrito was AMAAAZZINGG, and even better, the person there was so nice!!! They were so friendly and kind, and it was nice to talk to them while getting our food. And I love the atmosphere! Very friendly and fun. They are super LGBTQ+ Friendly as well!! ༼ つ ◕‿◕ ༽つ
Stop. Every positive review here is either paid, or the person is such an idiot that you shouldn’t trust them to babysit your pet rock. There’s just no way it’s genuine. First, the portions are almost comical. It’s like Impractical Jokers did a routine about seeing how small a portion you can give a customer without them saying something. Sadly, it’s not like the ingredients were looking so good that I could forgive it. The cilantro in the rice was a nice shade of brownish green, the black beans were so hard I literally spit it out because I thought some foreign object was in my burrito, and the refried beans had developed a nice thick, waxy, crust; Which the server dutifully scooped on to my pitiful portion of meat. I debated just running away. On the plus side I didn’t get sick, and the staff were friendly. So it’s sucks to rip on them so hard, because they were nice. Awful, but nice.
I visited Taro Taco last week, and my experience was quite good. The staff were really friendly and helpful, which made the visit enjoyable. The atmosphere was welcoming, and I appreciated their attentiveness. I’ll definitely be returning and would recommend this place to others looking for a great dining experience!
I love the location. The mall seems so dead, so although it has that fast food feel, there are lots of tables and chairs around to enjoy the fountain or any event happening on the stage there. We ordered food for our family of five yesterday around 5/6pm. There was one staff so it took a few minutes to all of our items. Which was fine because we were not in a hurry. I ordered the burrito with beans and sweet potato. The refried beans were okay…a bit dry and the guacamole was super salty. Not a fan, especially since I order guacamole with my burrito, that made my meal about $20. My rule of thumb is if I can make it better at home, then it’s not worth it for me. That being said, everyone’s tastes are different.
Menu was a little hard to understand, but the person serving me told me how to pick my Nacho's , 1st you pick your fillings ie refried beans , rice , black beans ect.. , 2nd your protein chicken , beef or pork. 3rd topping like lettuce, cheese , corn , and other toppings, then lastly your sauce . Great place only marked it down one star as another couple next to me was really confused by the menu and left .
The food was great but it is kind of expensive. However, the customer service they have provided is worth it. Definitely a must try is the loaded Nachos
Don t go there to eat. Plain food, nothing to do with mexican food
Decent food if it s ever available. Restaurant has good Mexican food but very sub-par staff. Often wait times are extremely long for staff to even respond to customer arrival even when the mall is dead, and when placing orders via apps like Door Dash and Skip this store does not notify you if they are closed for the day, until after you place your order and wait over half an hour! Whoever is running this place seems allergic to servicing customers!
Burrito was OK at best ... definitely ask them to press/heat it up... I did but staff said they dont normally do that and continued to wrap it up and ring it in.
Some ingredients are cold.
Food is decent when you can order it. They seem to have no staff and no prep. Went to order and there was group there to pickup a pickup order. There was only one employee and he didn t even have the order started, then works very slowly food is good but not a good option if you are in your lunch break and have limited time
Delicious
I shouldnt have to eat my taco with a fork.
We decided to eat here because it looked like it had a good variety of food. However, the kid who worked there tonight served us was using his hands scooping rice, meat and salsa with his hands (with gloves) it was just weird. He had spoons and tongs behind him but he used his gloves. He was very stingy with giving us rice even though we were his last customers of the day and he even admitted that he was going to throw out the rice. I m pretty sure even if he wanted to give us less rice it would be good business practice to at least donate or give that rice to the homeless. It was our first time in St. John and that was our first impression. Really sad to say the least.
Excellent taco bowls and burritos. Lots of options and variety and so filling.
The tacos are not very flavourful and not well assembled
Pulled pork burrito with a million toppings - perfect fast balanced meal!
Always amazing service and great food.
Really great service. My office has placed a few bulk orders in the last few months and they are so accommodating! Everything is individually packaged and labeled so we can meet our companys covid guidelines. It also doesnt hurt that the food is delicious!
No wait awesome
Extremely large portions, delicious! Thank you!
The nachos and cheese were amazing and they were really nice definitely going again sometime
Avoid.
Very good, nice to deal with and good services
The taste wasnt that good but the customer service was amazing and the prices were high
Fresh, so good, and satisfying! You get big servings, so you feel full when done. If I was Uptown more often, I d be getting lunch here all the time!
Best tacos Ive ever had!! the tortilla is amazing! I absolutely love the chicken they use! whenever I go uptown I always want to go to Toro Taco. highly recommend! <3
I purchased 2 Al Pastor Tacos at lunch today, and was unpleasantly surprised at the small portion and size. I paid $10 for both and did not get my moneys worth (the value just wasnt there). Both of the tacos were tasty but the size of them was child size..about 3 bites each. I left hungry and upset as the portions at Toro Taco were once quite large.
This taco was by far the best taco Ive ever had. I had pulled pork, lettuce, tomato, cabbage, black bean, cheese, sour cream and the honey something sauce ( sweet and spicy, was recommended). The sauce was an amazing recommendation and the meat wonderfully seasoned! The most disappointing part of the meal was the rice it was hard, either sat for too long or was over cooked.
Great healthy food and wonderful customer service. Its great to have something different for a change. (You guys need to expand to Halifax you would make a killing lol.)
Ordered the tacos, taste was good. The soft shells fell apart and I ended up eating it like a salad. Price was too high. 2 tacos and a bottle of water $19
Big fan of this place, great hangover food and while they are messy, they are quite delicious
Good mexican
Taste good. price high. You will end eating a some kind of soup from your bowl if you are Mexican this is not for you
Love Toro. Fresh ingredients, and great recipes make it stand out above the rest. Eat the weekly. Perfect spot for a great, fast lunch.
Toro bowls, burritos and tacos are all the best in the city, hands down. I eat here a lot. Fresh ingredients are delicious So great to have a healthy option for lunch/dinner in Saint John.
The tacos here are excellent. You can choose your own fresh toppings and they heat the tacos right before preparation. Then it is served on a bowl of rice so if anything falls out of your tacos you just eat it with the rice. My only criticism is that they give you 3 small tacos, and it is kind of expensive. However once I ate the tacos and all the rice I wasnt left hungry afterwards. It is delicious but the price means is it not one of my regular lunch spots.
great, fresh food! i come here all the time! the guac is amazing
Every time Ive eaten here, the server has been rude to me and the food has just been ok.
Absolutley fantastic
Just enjoyed a smokey pork toro bowl and WOW it was delicious and packed with tons of flavor! I will be back.
Great food. The bowls are delicious and filling, and everything is always fresh. The pulled pork cant be beat.
Meh, ok if you like overpriced burritos I guess.
Recommend the taco bowl!
Excellent food. Good price.
It tasted really good, and the last few times were great but my stomach is in crippling agony after the last one I had. Im not sure if my stomach just disagrees or if its the food but I did happen to feel fine beforehand.
I wish I had tried this place sooner. I had a chicken burrito, whole wheat wrap and brown rice and veggies. Very good! Cant wait to go again.
