Rustic rooms in a country inn with an upscale restaurant & 10 acres of grounds with trails.
Our family had the most relaxing visit! We stayed in the quaint little studio which has large windows looking out over the swimming pond, and spa area. Valerie, the chef and host, is charming and makes everyone feel relaxed. The auberge is made from historic buildings and decorated with charming antiques. The property is lush with trees and flowers and paths. It has a screened gazebo area. There is pond to swim in and a sauna and two hot tubs. A perfect way to unwind. The breakfast was delicious. I had the French toast with maple butter and fresh fruit. So yummy! We also enjoyed a wonderful fish and chips dinner. The studio was perfect for our family of 4 with a clean and comfortable amenities and a queen, a full, and a pull out couch.
We had an AMAZING wedding at this charming spot off the beaten path. Valerie was incredibly helpful with suggestions-options when we were planning for a group of 40. The food-menu was fantastic, as were all the peripheral services and of course the beautiful peaceful location. My wife and I recommend this place highly.
We had low expectations as we approached this place, located on a gravel road, in the middle of nowhere. Turned out to be a great place to stay, and the dinner blew us away. We stayed in the Queen suite, and highly recommend it-beautiful outlook on the garden, large room with sitting area and great beds, ensuite bath, funky decor and very quiet. The whole place is quiet! Other rooms we saw looked just as nice so do not hesitate to come here for the rooms. The dinner was outstanding. Multi course, all properly prepared and delicious,as one would find in a 4 star French restaurant. Bring your own wine, stay for more than 1 night. Breakfast was lovely. All prepared and served by our hostess herself-thanks so much for a lovely stay!
Auberge La Mara was a lucky find for us! It was a cozy and comfortable place to wind down from a busy vacation. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. The ingredients are locally sourced whenever possible and expertly prepared. We could not have asked for a better experience. Valerie, the owner, hostess, chef, wait staff, cleaning staff, etc. is a sweetheart and she took very good care of us. The rain kept us from exploring the lush forest and trails on the property. Valerie is good, but the weather is beyond her control.
This inn was very nice and welcoming. The first word that I thought of when I saw the inn and its surrounding is "quaint". It is rustic, charming and very comfortable. There are gardens outside with lounge chairs and a place to make a fire, which must be lovely in the evenings with all the birds chirping and insects buzzing. We took the large room with three separate beds and were happily surprised by the fact that these beds were separated in two different rooms that connect! It felt more intimate this way. The host was very friendly and welcoming, even though we arrived a bit late at around 9 pm. Breakfast was included with our night's stay. I assumed that it would be some cereal and bagels, the type of thing that we make ourselves and doesn't take much time, but it was not that at all. We were instead served a very lovely and delicious full breakfast (omelet with cheese, fruits, homemade jam, local organic apple juice and homemade hazelnut bread) made on order. It was truly scrumptious. The only things that I would comment on is that the beds were quite hard, so that is something to keep in mind if you prefer softer beds. Also, there were not a lot of hygienic products in the washroom. For instance, there was only one small soap for 3 adults for both hands and shower. Other than that everything was perfect and I would definitely come back here for a whole weekend to enjoy it more!
This is an remodelled house that was built around 1790. As with all old buildings, it has it’s creaks, uneven floors, and thin walls. Sitting in the lounge by the fireplace, I was reminded of old country lodges. The grounds around the auberge are a great place to just relax and take in the ambience. Daniel was a very warm and welcoming host. Daniel’s breakfasts were substantial and absolutely delicious. This was a great place from which to explore the Eastern Townships.
Awesome stay. The back room where we had dinner was very cozy. Host was fantastic. On top of that the other visitors were very nice too! Overall a great experience. We recommend having dinner there. We had the "table d'hôtes" and felt it was even better than our recent anniversary dinner. The locals go there for dinner too. My first time having rabbit! Taste like chicken. The rooms were old. Very old. So be prepared for that.
Went there for a family gathering/birthday. We had reserved all the rooms for a night and had the living room to ourselves. Although the dining room was open to the public, we had a separate room all to ourselves next to the living room. The setup was perfect. We really felt at home. The "bring your own wine/beer" concept is perfect for parties like these. The food served at dinner was really good. They even made a special for the kids (excellent locally made sausage). Breakfast was just as good as dinner. Beds were okay and of course, when you find yourself in a 200 year old house, walls are thin. This would be the only downside. But as we were all family, it didn't matter as much. All in all, a very "feel at home" place. I recommend it.
Beautiful little rustic inn which has charm if you forget the modern amenities. The meals and service are excellent!
A magnificent place to relax and unwind. The meals are excellent, the service impeccable and the innkeeper Valérie is super nice and friendly. The SPA course is a plus for relaxing. Thank you Valérie for your welcome.

A well hidden gem. Quite hard to find, you have to know where you are going to find it. Great food and relaxing setup
Beautiful residence, good service, kind owner, neglected site and maintenance, full and dirty ashtrays in common outdoor areas. Exterior equipment all broken, Cleanliness of the premises questionable. Bad WiFi, no TV.

We have just returned from an extraordinary stay! What a warm and welcoming atmosphere! We immediately feel good, like at home! Our room was very stylish and comfortable. We had the table dhôte, everything was delicious and made with local foods as much as possible! At lunch too, the best French toast ever eaten! Warm welcome and sublime food.
A big 4 for the food,,, excellent. For rooms a 3,,, the bedding must be changed
The food was great, but it was low quality service.
I invited my mother for her birthday to this restaurant! The quality of the food was perfect! I highly recommend the duck breast. There were still quite a few people there and there was a point where we felt that there was no longer any service. In any case it was a great experience.
Superb Inn, impeccable service and what can we say about the simply excellent menu!!
To try
Rustic inn which is the lifes work of its owner. The rustic rooms are welcoming, the grounds are well landscaped and it is even possible to relax in hammocks near a small stream. We go back for the local organic restaurant, winner of several awards in environmental leadership, the tastiest which makes us discover the richness of local agriculture
Charming place, excellent food, not too pricey for a little get away, close to mont ham. Quiet city, nothing opens before 8 so be prepared if youre a morning person....staff could be more friendly.
It is one of those homes that exudes the scent of the sweetness of life. Ilvanas house is of those. With all our children-in-law and grandchildren we lived there precious moments. The warm welcome from Madame Roberte, the delicious meal prepared by the talented chef Daniel Lamoureux, where the plate offered is a real pleasure for the eyes and the taste buds, the natural and peaceful decor that surrounds Ilvana, everything contributes to the charm and the success of this Thanksgiving weekend. Thank you, Mr. Lamoureux, for offering us such a place, where each moment can be savored and lived to the fullest. Its just goodbye, Ilvanas lovely, pleasant and comfortable home. Well see you again when everyone around you has put on their spring outfits, in April 2015, we promise. So see you soon Claude and Béatrice Stordeur-Dom October 2014
