Disappointed and frustrated service Everything was normal until we paying the bill. We asked if we could pay cash. Server lady was rude and assumed we are not planning to pay tips. Then she added 15 or 20% tips into the bill, when I mentioned it she is giving me more attitude. I never said anything about not paying tips, her attitude was totally different with other customers. We thought this would be a good Chinese restaurant, but she was very disrespectful. Food was ok, but I’ll never be in even close to this area again.
It is a small family business. The atmosphere is relaxing and it is a typical small family run restaurant. The taste is OK, typical of family restaurant. The quantity of each disk is well too little ( I would like say it is only about 70% of a typical disk)
8 people. Tip included 33$ each. Wonton soup, spicy clams x 2, green beans x 2, cumin pork x 2, general Tao x 1, eggplant dish x1, spicy fish x 1. Every dish was freshly made, hot, the spice level was excellent! Addictive! Service was good! Can’t wait to go back.
Food was very delicious, place was clean and comfy, waitress was very, the only thing she almost could not speak English, we somehow understood each other :))
At the time we visited in 2023, the restaurant was rated 4.3 stars so we decided to give it a try. Food is tasty and authentic. Service is excellent for a small restaurant. I won't give it 5 stars since I believe they could offer more vegetables with the beef & noodles dish. The wonton soup is very good and the chili chicken is a must try.
Good place for spicy food! I don't eat very spicy but I was surprised that I can tolerated. The place wasn't big, so if you are big group you should call for a reservation first
Update: came here post confinement. Owner respects sanitary rules, service very quick and efficient. Amazing northern cuisine. Big yummy portions, nice owners and good value. Will definitely be our regular northern Chinese spot. Recommended dishes: cumin lamb, braised fish, beef noodles and spicy clams.
I guess only reason they got such high rating is because there's not so many Northern food choices in Montreal.
The portion is not big, but my friends in Dalian said it is more authentic.
Spicy pepper sausage, delicious.
The food is so good! Clams, cumin pork, green beans with chili & pork, an Eggplant dish I dont know how to pronounce. The waitress... Love her!!
Very very rich!! The food is amazing!! We loved it, we are from China and arriving to a place where it is far from home, eating this makes us feel like we returned to China, I highly recommend the restaurant, plus the dishes come out quickly and are quite abundant! The service, very good! It is a restaurant that is run by a couple, it is very well run! The space, although very small, does not feel cramped!
A very unpleasant dining experience, and I would never recommend it to anyone.
Tasty food and nice atmosphere
A regular restaurant for friends. All kinds of signature dishes are good. Mainly it is better to eat Northeastern food.
The big noodles are just cucumbers with a little bit of noodles. The steamed pork buns are super sour. I asked the lady boss for a bowl to eat, but she was not willing to give it to me. I was very disappointed.
I really liked it, the authentic look and atmosphere. It feels like Beijing.
The foods are the best
I had spring rolls as a starter. They werent bad, but a little greasy. The chicken and chili dish with rice had no taste. Additionally, the rice was served cold. I didnt enjoy eating this dish. I will not return to this restaurant again. In Décarie, there are other Chinese restaurants with delicious dishes for less money.
Sauerkraut with white meat 19.53 after tax, delicious
it very good the food the service is amazing defently cming back!!!!
Hands down the best Chinese food in Montreal. I am from the region of the restaurant so I know. Please disregard those self entitled non Chinese that can t hold a chopsticks and only eat Mongolian beef.
Classic northern Chinese cuisine. Excellent for taste. Quality ok
Basically delicious! Two people ordered six dishes and actually finished them all... Guobao pork is too sweet for me
Great Northen food! Love their deep fried sweet Sour pork (guo bao rou) ) even my friend from Northen chins said they have authentic food!
I would invest some money to improve the interior, furniture and especially the dishes and cutlery. May be the food is not bad, but the very cheap tableware spoilt all the pleasure.
I, a Northeastern person, felt emo when I ate this. The food was so small that I wanted to cry. It was so unpalatable that it was not worth the price. You even asked me for a tip. 6
We took the delicious eggplant and potatoes, the surprisingly fluffy spicy fish and the AMAZING Gou Bo pork. We ll be back!
Its a mama papa restaurant with really Delicious Food! No need of extra frills..Nice, Simple, Super Friendly et Child friendly! Spicy and Fresh tasting. Have been coming here for years and continue to return with new friends.
Very good
Excellent food!! Definitely recommend the Yu-Xiang shrimp
Very authentic and tasty Chinese food!
The food there is exceptional. This is hands down the best chinese cuisine place ever in Montreal. What a tasty gourmet it is. If you are not eating there, you are missing out something crucial to your life. Go there, now
What a great lunch!
Best hot and sour soup in Montreal
The dishes are terrible. It is totally not Chinese northeast cuisine. They don t really know how to cook.
The service at the front desk was extremely poor, extremely impatient and rushed, and the dining experience was not good.
Love this place and the people working there :)
True north
Eat Chinese restaurant ever , spicy fish and beef noodles combination is the best
Very good little restaurant. This restaurant may not be suitable for pretending to be a food critic, but for me personally it was a heart-warming meal. It was a great meal.
I dont recommend, super fatty, too salty then the shrimp are tiny and no taste (having taken fried noodles with shrimp) really in terms of taste its not that
The taste is okay but the portion is too small. I am a woman with a girl and a boy, and I ordered 6 dishes and it was not enough
A restaurant that satisfies the Northeastern appetite of Northeasterners! The sweet and sour taste of Guobao Pork is just right! ! The cabbage sting skin and pickled cabbage pork ribs vermicelli are also the taste of hometown, super delicious with rice
I walked in with my 5 year old boy to get some lunch. The owners were sitting at a table and just stared at me. After an uncomfortable minute of this I asked if they worked here or if they are customers. I received a No as an answer and she continued to just stare at me. Another patron piped up and told me that she worked there. No attempt was made to get up, ask us to sit, anything, just a blank look. Finally I grabbed my sons hand and told him we would go somewhere where our business was welcomed. Went across the street to another Chinese restaurant and had a great lunch.
Must-eat local delicacies, especially delicious, shout out from Northeastern people! ! ! ! ! !
Very good taste 10000 score for the taste but the environment is not clean though
Service is quick and very friendly family style place. But I cant justify paying $18 for extremely small plates. Especially for noodles. Its just noodles after all.
Authentic Northeastern cuisine, delicious and cheap
Very bad service
Very good
Home cooking style northeast dishes
Delicious northeastern chinese food. Quick to service. A must eat in Montreal.
Very interesting lil place with its own understanding of pho
Small, friendly and authentic restaurant. Excellent for anyone who wants to eat different, non-Americanized Szechuan dishes.
Good price great taste!
Authentic Northeastern cuisine, it looks very ordinary, but it is just for rice, there is nothing flashy. Generally speaking, for a rice bowl of two taels, at least three bowls are needed. Pot-roasted pork, hot pepper sausage, fish-flavored shredded pork, four kinds of vinegar, cabbage sting skin, recommended!
It was our first time and all the dishes we ordered were extremely tasty. Try the kim chi with potato noodles and the vegetable dish with eggplant, potatoes and peppers. Delicious
Best Dongbei Dishes in Montreal!
The worst Chinese food in Montreal, bar none, one star is too much. The Da Lapi is particularly unpalatable. The Da La Pi is completely made to taste like cucumber. The rice seemed to be leftover, very hard and not fragrant. The key point is that our family feels nauseous and has stomach discomfort after eating. Unfortunately, my baby still suffers from this when he is still young. never go back again!
The soft cutlet was very average.
The owner is a super kind woman and the food is delicious.
Fujiazhuang, in Saint Laurent in Montreal, is a Northeastern restaurant that I often eat at. The above dishes are my must-order dishes. The restaurant is not big, with a traditional proprietress in the front, and the boss cooks the dishes, which taste good and are not expensive. Four dishes are less than 70 yuan. The Northeastern style noodles make me eat like when I was a child!
Put sesame oil on pickled cabbage and white meat? Stir-fried mutton with onions = stir-fried mutton with onions? And bring soup ..
Exceptional culinary experience, we eat well and its good for our taste buds!
Really good Chinese food.
Very good and fast service and very delicious authentic chinese food. The ambiance is very homy and warm. Very good value for the food.
I have been to this restaurant many times with my family and friends. The taste suits my stomach very well.
It s so delicious. This restaurant tastes great. It s one of the top three Chinese restaurants in Montreal in my opinion. Ah, I love Northeastern cuisine and the home-cooked taste.
Tasty, good food, good price
Best chinese in saint laurent...and I consider myself an experienced chinese food eater...!
Love the taste of food. Different than every other Chinese restaurant Ive been use to.
Best Northeast Chinese food in town.
Excellent restaurant! I tried some of their dishes and I was blown away by how rich and delicious they were. The prices are also very reasonable compared to other Chinese restaurants and I would certainly come back here.
Gave this place one star because the lady is very rude. We hated the service. The food was ok. Nothing special. The noodles was little. Taste like the one you can get from Manchu work. The lamb cumin was very watery. But the taste was there. I would not go back for some ordinary food and a disgusting service.
Worst service ever
Good quality. Above the average. Prices are fair.
Best chinese resto in st-laurin.
good food, good service, fair price !
Authentic Chinese food and very reasonable prices.
Family business, dont expext too much service from the wife serving alone and also acting cashier but good food cooking by the husband!
Is the only place that have Authentic spicy Chinese food, in Montreal. When you see only Asian inside the restaurant, you know is the best...
Small place but big portion! tradition chinese style!
I eat there often. It tastes good.
To tell whether a Chinese restaurant is good or not, you can simply look at all the ratings from Chinese people, and look through the window to see how many Chinese are eating there. I disagree with all the low ratings from those non-Chinese, guess they only eat General Tao with forks, and think thats the authentic Chinese food. I disagree the small portion ratings too, it totally depends on how much you can eat and how much you pay for your food. If 3 dishes with rice can make full of a family, 2 adult and 1 teen, I wont say the portion is small.
The restaurant is small, but all the food is excellent.
Poor customer service
Great !
Tasty real specialties from north-east of China, my family s favourite restaurant!
Best Northern Chinese food in West Montreal
Friendly little place
This is a delicious Chinese restaurant in Montreal, recommended
good food to test
For the past one year, this is the first time that I have had such authentic Northeastern Chinese food in Montreal. The food has a very good taste and generous amount. I would recommend this one for people who are looking for authentic Chinese food.
Great restaurant with delicious food and nice people at an affordable price. Bigger portion and cheaper price than downtown restaurants. My favorites are pork intestines, spicy clams, spicy fried chicken, sweet sour fish.
The smell of oil smoke is too strong
Great place to get quick inexpensive good food.
Very authentic Dongbei style cuisine!
The taste is okay, but some dishes are too small
Very good place to eat. Delicious and inexpensive.
With two days off a week, we had no place to eat. Hahaha.
The service was good and we quickly got a table, even though the place is very small. We ordered four dishes and they were good but not superb.
Great, fresh classic Chinese food. It a little place, can take some time since nothing is cook in advance and one person in the kitchen. Can do take out but do not speak enough English to order by phone. In person always a way to communicate
We had pork ribs and spicy braised fish. It was delicious and the service was fast. A little too much oil on the pork sauce for our taste though.
Northeastern food, not bad
The taste is very authentic, but the portion is not large. It is recommended not to go too hungry.
The appearance is not big. After all, there are few Chinese people in Montreal. The first time I ate it I wasn t very impressed, but then I ate it a few times and it was pretty good!
Food is very delicious,&very reasonable price!
The best fried clams in Montreal, come here several times a month
Fortunately, the food is small and the prices are not expensive in this small shop. A total of three vegetable fields and three fresh foods: roasted beef with potatoes, vermicelli, and cucumber peeling The three fresh ground vegetables are fragrant with garlic and taste good. The roasted beef with potato vermicelli tastes good. If you order lunch alone, add a bowl of rice, which is a good choice. Cucumber facelift tastes good, but the cucumbers are too old and soft. I reported it to the boss lady and she said that the cucumbers must be soft because of the photo. No comment I had diarrhea after going shopping. Maybe I ate hot food and drank ice water.
Authentic and Flavourful.
Excellent, very traditional Chinese cuisine. Family restaurant, note that the staff speaks very limited English and no French. Showing the menu and pictures of desired fish on Google image works every time.
Great food tried most of thing on the menu and everything was delicious.
not bad
Not the worst Chinese restaurant, but not far. Food tastes weird, very salty. Stuff doesnt speak English. All smoke from kitchen goes into the eating area. Noisy from some appliance that turns on and off non stop. Putting this one on the not coming back list.
very good
not bad
Really delicious lamb with cumin!! One of a kind restaurant.
Authentic northern Chinese food!
Really good quality...many kind of food that you do not find in other places
Small resto, really delicious with affordable price. This is one of the Chinese restaurant doing Chinese flavor exact you were test in china. If you go there, do not expect any luxury deco, while test is good.
Great food. Dalapi is really good.
Everything is good, Well I had tasted almost all and although chinesse woman does not undertand me( i mean my English) ... She is really cute! I really recommend it!
I had a great experience there, affordable price and delicious food. Id say this is the most authentic Chinese food I had in Montreal.
Excellent authentic northern Chinese food.
Quick service, good menu and wonderful plates. Simple decor and cozy atmosphere. Id go back anytime.
Good food, and quick service I have been back many time.
The food tastes great. Its authentic north east Chinese cuisine. None of that overly-sweetened, foreigner-catered cattle feed. Although the portions are way too small.
Very tasty northern Chinese food made with good quality ingredients. Like another poster here, my favourite dishes are spicy fish and the eggplant dish. Communication is rudimentary and done by sign language, which is why I always order the same two dishes.
Nice family restaurant.
Fu Jia is owned and run by a couple from China. The wife takes care of the front (seating, taking orders, etc) while the husband is the cook. Despite the broken English, communication is easy enough. The quality of the food is consistent and is always good. They offer many dishes not found in most Chinese restaurants. I have yet to be disappointed - either with the more familiar fares or the uncommon ones. Be warned - if the dish is labeled as spicy, it packs a punch. However, you can adjust the level to suit your tastes.
I love this little place. The owner couple is friendly and pleasant, and the food is delicious. I love their eggplant and their spicy fish. They also have a potato dish with hot peppers that is simply amazing. Even their plain rice tastes better than plain rice elsewhere! Everything is reasonably priced and when you go for takeout they are very prompt. The decor is very simple but sweet (the menus on the wall are handwritten). Its cuisine is different than the other Chinese restaurants in the area, and it is always full of Chinese diners, a good sign. If youre looking for great Chinese food with a homecooked feel, this is the place for you.
The real name is 1+1 Pizza. Super good, I love the vegetarian one (excellent with olives). Also, its the cheapest in the area. Apart from the Monday/Tuesday specials of Dominos and Pizza Hut, but these specials dont even allow us to choose the pizza and blah blah blah.
