Venerable Lebanese eatery serving meze, kebabs & traditional plates in a casual space.
I've been coming here for over 30 years. We were a medium sized group and the service was absolutely awful. I had to get the attention of the waiter numerous times to fill our water. The waiter never came around to check how we were doing. The waiter brought the small birthday cake. He did not give us plates, he did not ask us if we wanted tea, coffee or dessert. We waited at least 15 minutes after eating the birthday cake and we had to wave to him to get his attention to bring the bill. When i mentioned to him how come he never offered us dessert or coffee or tea or fruit, he pointed to the tiny piece of birthday cake and said that's your dessert. We left a very small tip. Extremely disappointed after all these years. Will not be going back.
Best middle eastern food in Montreal. My family came from Quebec city just to have the kebbe naya (tartar). Must go and just try Once in a lifetime experience in a middle eastern decor
I have been recommended to try this place long time ago . We went on a slow day which was good for us. Thr food is typically lebanese , old school. I ordered a lot of appetizer, most of them were great. The fatoush however could be enhanced and was salty, it lacks too many items if I am comparing to thr remaining app. The Main dish had chicken( excellent ) , kafta ( don’t try it ) and meat ( ok, but could be better). I found it too expensive for what I was getting. We ordered app and one main dish with 2 soft drink and a beer. The service was good and friendly. The only downside of this place is it is tooooo old, urgently need à to be revamped, but I guess people likes it that way. I always compare resto with the one from dubai and believe the difference is crazy.
This is an old school and traditional family run restaurant. No glitz no glam, simple and straight forward. We ordered traditional hummus, which was super smooth and tasty. Fattouch and tabouleh which were fresh and well seasoned. We also got the coriander potatoes which were drowning in lemon juice along with shish kebab, kafta, lamb and salmon. The meats and fish were all cooked perfectly. We did find that everything was salty and overall all had a very citrusy taste which isn’t necessarily bad but lacked diversity. The waiters are friendly and quick and we left feeling quite full as the portions are very generous. The other customers were all Lebanese so i think this is definitely a favourite for some.
Amazing Lebanese food , so good service so yummy so healthy , you will love each bite of the food and you must try the Lebanese coffee oh my lord how tasty it is , what you are waiting for , go try it enjoy it you will love it .
A Lebanese restaurant with high quality meat. Taste great, but should have been served with sauce or gravy so they're more moist. We separately bought humus and salad. Pretty expensive I must say, but a nice place for special occasion.
Daou offers top of the line Lebanese food. You can’t go wrong, the whole menu is delicious. Their meat melts in you mouth like a butter cookie (pause). When there’s private parties the parking gets pretty full, so just park next door in the strip mall; next to Tim Hortons.
My absolute favourite Lebanese Restaurant in Montreal. A family owned Restaurant, all the food is made with love and care. I've been coming here for over 20 years, and the food has not changed one bit. What strikes you here is the quality and the freshness of the ingredients. Everything here is just so good. Highly recommended, and if you want to come on a Friday/Saturday evening, reservations are also highly recommended. Enjoy!
One of my favorite restaurants for over 15 years
Excellent food and service!
Absolutely amazing! So fresh. We got a bit of everything. Each dish was amazing!
Very good cuisine and especially fresh food, I will go back.
Excellent Lebanese restaurant. We go many times! Great service, great food!
Very good and authentic food
The food is very good with generous portions, impeccable service and a very clean restaurant.
I have not been here in a while but let me tell you it is better than ever! 5 starts is the max amount of stars I could give, if not I would give 100!
The food is excellent...!
The most amazing lebanese food in montreal!
Customer service was zero, me and my brother entered and it was like we entered a graveyard, i didn t order anything my brother ordered a salad, it was just lettuce with a little seasoning, it was 15 dollars, my brother wanted to make a small take and said why it is expensive, the lady looked at us like we murdered someone. I don t recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy.
Perfection
We ordered two meat sandwiches and two desserts (katayef) to take away. To our surprise, the bill was $65. The quality of the sandwiches left something to be desired: the pita bread was soft with very few pieces of meat. As for the dessert, it was so bad that we had trouble digesting it .
Best lebanese food in all of northern America.
Very disappointing! Salads made too far in advance are bathed in their vinaigrettes. Shish taouk chicken and tasteless garlic sauce. Very plain beans and cheese rolls. What was good: Filet mignon skewer. Delicious. Muhamara. Excellent. Their rice is exquisite. Good Cosmos Kind service We go back? Unfortunately not.
Everything was delicious! We particularly liked the vine leaves and the filet mignon. We will definitely return! On the other hand, always the same song on repeat on the television...
Food is good. Although too expensive for what you re getting. Daou used to be more affordable but now I feel is no longer worth it. Shame I won t be going back as often.
Top Notch, as Always!
Horrible
The best libanaise food also this was the first libanaise restaurant in Montreal so you are coming to eat in the OG
Always been great place since the eighties for me
Excellent, always a pleasure to go there
Very good option for a Lebanese atmosphere
Best lebanese
The tabouleh and the salad fattouch are really good. I highly recommend this place .
Great authentic Lebanese food, and good quality service. Will be back!
We booked for a party, the staff were very pleasant. The atmosphere and the places are impeccable. What can I say about the food and perfect cooking, I recommend the chicken breasts and of course the filet mignon and the essential humus without forgetting the simply exquisite vine leaves with meat. Vegetarian options: Very good variety of vegetarian dishes Parking: Polite and courteous parking attendant Kid-friendliness: Childrens booster chair
There could be more subdued lighting in the evening, softer
Very good beef and humus!
order to take away for 20 people everything was very good thank you
I tremendously enjoyed my meal and dessert. I have not been to this restaurant in over 15 years, and finding it was still opened, I could not be happier. Please keep it up Restaurant Daou Ill be back Food
Great food
The food is great, but the physical space needs some love. This is a kitchen that has the potential to be among the finest establishments of the city if it got a facelift. We are always pleased with the food, but 9 times out of 10, we order out. They make one of the best cheese finger rolls (rakakat) and sambousik in the city.
Excellent
Excellent food, my personal favourite is the filet mignon. The hummus is the best I ve ever tasted, all the salads are great. Fries need work, they re hard, greasy and tasteless. Prices are a bit high, limiting the frequency I visit. Friendly staff, good service.
Family atmosphere, delicious entrées (meza) and fresh & juicy heavenly bbq (grillades). 90s vibe and the staff is very attentive, especially Eddy. The restaurant has its own parking. Parking: Parking attendant
Great Libanon ambiance Cozy 7./10 for the food Rice not famous Meat needs more passion and seasoning. Great with family
The waiters answers about the quality of the non-fresh products were not convincing. The service was incredibly slow, the prices are exorbitant for what you offer. In addition, the dessert (katayef) was not fresh despite the owners justification. Your reputation is seriously overrated. I never recommend your restaurant. N.B: I gave 1 star because we have to give at least one to be able to publish here.
Booked appointment for 2pm. Waited till 3pm to be seated. Bad customer and arrogant service.
One of the oldest middle eastern restaurants in Montreal, the place is traditionally old, but the food and service are amazing and the place as a whole is family-oriented. The grilled fillet mignon is fabulous .
Excellent food and quality. The fattoush however is not the greatest when you do take out.
I went here with my lebanese girlfriend and she absolutely loved it. so did i, everything, everything!! was good, i don t remember all the names of the plates but definitely try chef choice of grillades, and that raw kibeh entree, is typical lebanese dish. very good, abit expensice, but 100% worth it. family owned and been open for decades
Great place to come once in a while. I go there for 2 to 3 times a year since the 80s (original being on Fallion) Food is excellent, and quality is certainly not sacrificed here.
Food was excellent but service was so so.
Excellent food. Everything was delicious. Fresh and flavorful. Definitely will go back again.
Fabulous Lebanese restaurant with an aged but still elegant setting. Meant more for groups willing to share plates vs individual orders. More variety in the appetizers than the éntrees. Definitely a pricier restaurant for the portions, but the quality is high. Particularly with their Meats. Service was a little slow even though it was not busy.
Me my family and friends have been to Daou for many years. I would say only one word about the food. DELEICIOUS!!!
Best traditional Lebanese food
Great food!
Definitely one of the oldest Lebanese restaurants in Montreal. They have been around for almost 50 years. Food is flavourful. Dont expect anything less than classic Lebanese cuisine. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor, no stairs.
I ve been a customer of Daou for over 35 years, started on Faillon. While the houmous, baba ganouche and fatouche are as good as ever, the experience has changed. Arak used to be served with ice cubes and water on the side, and you got pistachios with it. I used to have my own bottle of Ksara, they kept for me in the fridge. Now Arak comes pre-mixed with the ice in it and you get peanuts and pumpkin seeds. It ain t Ksara. They used to have fillet mignon in the mixed grill - now it s a less tender cut I that could not chew. Fatayer and mint tea are still good. It s a sign of the times that have changes, unfortunately not for the better. Once upon a time, there were things that were great and they ain t coming back. Sad.
Im sold in advance, my mother is of Syrian origin, she made me the same kind of dish, it comes back to my childhood memories!! And it s very authentic!!@@!!
Food not bad. It was hot inside. No ventilation
Fantastic food!
Thank you for the lovely welcome.. with little time to prepare for our group of 80 people, everything lived up to our expectations!!
Amazing AMAZING Food... one of the best Lebanese food! The service was impeccable and super friendly! The food is one of the best of the tons of other Lebanese food weve been through (and trust me, we tried few dozens of them) The hummus, baba ghanouj, kebab, mashawi mezza, etc... And theres nothing better than enjoying your meal with a good Arak drink! Enjoy and highly recommend... for me its the go to place! If theres a 1 negative honest comment... it would be that they need renovation a bit to update the carpet and the restaurant a bit... but hope if they ever do that they wont change the quality of the food or service!
Fantastic food, amazing service,
A bit pricy but the food was delicious!
Nice Lebanese food.
Good Wheelchair accessibility: Okay
Im Lebanese, and this place seriously beats every Lebanese restaurant Ive been to for a very long time
Great and authentic lebanese food and vibes
The best Lebanese food in Montréal and the service was excellent. Everything was so flavourful.
Good food! Loud music and louder crowds
Inhospitable place as well as the staff who are unmotivated to serve, I ordered a dish where the rice was a little raw, a friend of mine had diarrhea all night because of the shrimp who ate there, service long and the worst is that the prices are abusive. I have to give you a star so that I can comment otherwise I give you 0.2 out of 5
Relatively old decor, staff is barely nice and food was okay at best But i would like to give a shoutout to the tabouret, the only thing we really enjoyed off our order
Authentic and delicious food: 5 stars. Atmosphere and decent service: 3 stars. Prices a little high. I love you Céline.
Excellent service and excellent food!
My God! Best Lebanese ever! Great service, fair price. What a great night I had.
Best Lebanese shish taouk chicken in Montreal. Salads are incredible along with all the mezze. Been coming here my whole life and can happily say this place has stayed consistently incredible over the past 30+ years.
Food is excellent, a bit noisy thougj
Havent been here I a while, but the food was delicious!
A well known Lebanese restaurant that I had the pleasure to try for the first time. We had a meeting first they organized that we can meet in a private room with water and coffee service. After the meeting, we went out of the room. We had our table already prepared. Food and service are excellent. The best was the falafel plate. A place to recommend
Food is u real serving even better
Great hummus!
One of the best restaurants in the city.
The best Lebanese food in the Montreal area!
Daous good reputation does not need to be confirmed by me, however I would very much like to highlight Eddys excellent service for lunch, he fascinates us every time with his professionalism, excellent advice, courteous and friendly service. Given the lack of staff everywhere, he manages to serve several tables with a normal wait. The day before we were at a restaurant where 3 waiters were busy serving the same number of people as at Daou and had waited 1 hour 30 minutes for the meal, and Eddy alone was enough to serve the customers in a very acceptable time frame. Thank you also Eddy for the candle and the happy birthday, I was pleasantly surprised, I am really touched especially since I thought it was my sisters idea. THANKS For my part, I love hendbé or dandelions, one of the best vegetarian kebbé and fatouche. See you soon
We are a group of retirees and we regularly go to the restaurant together, almost once a week. On Thursday June 10, 2022, we chose to go to Daou on Marcel-Laurin, because it had been a while since we had been there that day, there were eight of us. As soon as the dishes arrived, the majority of us noticed that it was too salty. In Sayadieh for example, you could even feel the salt crunching under your teeth and many were unable to finish their dish. We kindly remarked to the waiter who didnt want to admit anything and said that we were people who prefer to eat without salt at all! I remember that more or less thirty years ago, there was an article in the Press which praised the dishes of Daou, which was at that time one of the best Lebanese and Middle Eastern restaurants in Montreal ; the article still pointed out that it was a little too salty. Over the years, restaurant fans like us can only see that the dishes have become saltier and saltier. Moreover, reviews on the Internet often contain this remark which Daou, unfortunately, seems to have chosen to ignore. In fact, the overly salty taste prevents you from enjoying the authentic taste of Daous dishes, which were normally of good quality. On the other hand, nothing accompanied the Falafel dish (just Falafel and a Tarator, very salty of course!), nothing accompanied the Maria either just pita bread, with minced meat, very fatty and salty . It is clear that, unfortunately, Daou is no longer what he was! It s a shame, but a lot of water will pass under the bridge before we try a new culinary experience at Daou.
Great Lebanese place. Great option in Montreal
Typically Lebanese, exceptional quality of meats and dishes in general. Restaurant to preferably visit in a group.
Taste was ok however overpriced
Waited 3 years to get back here for the Hummus, stuffed grape leaves, and their famous mixed plate! Friendly staff, delicious Lebanese food! Yummy
Amazing food! Best Lebanese in Montreal!
It was always nice eating here or getting takeout or delivery from here throughout my life with family. I used to love the filet mignon but these days I hardly eat meat so i when i made a quick pick up recently i just got the rice which still is as special as its always been. They offer a nice selection of salads and dips too, like the cold eggplant and green salad. Im sure there are other vegetarian options I havent tried yet so ill have to return one day now that Ive seen theyve opened a location closer to the inner city
Limited menu, good quality grills,
Best Lebanese restaurant out there. Incredible service and staff. This is by far one of our most favorite restaurants!!!
Meat is tasty and tender, the prices are fair for the quality. Service a bit slow when crowded.
Delicious food, exceptional filet mignon, very good service, only missing the dance floor. ;)
Their chicken is so delicious.
Vegetarian options: Very good selection Food
Overrated
Sooooooo tasty! I think they have the best in town! Hands down, no doubt about. I ordered for a birthday party and there wasnt a single bite of food left. Food
So much overpriced for an average food that is like an amateur cook who cooked it. Very bad seasonings on meat, chicken is a joke and very minimalist plates with a very highly unreasonable price.Service is so bad. There are so much better restaurants serving better and more varieties and cheaper price. I wish i never went. NEVER AGAIN..
Service + excellent food quality
What a great experience! We went to Daou following the recommendation of friends who like the place. We were not disappointed! The place is warm, far from what its facade far from the street might lead us to believe. We were welcomed immediately, the service was attentive and efficient, and the atmosphere was festive. We opted for varied plates which we shared and in addition to having copious portions, everything was excellent! Maybe a little salty for my taste, but it seems specific to Lebanese cuisine. The baklava for dessert was to die for. I will definitely go back, and I will be tempted again by the shrimp which for me was absolutely perfect. Bonus: the selection of Lebanese wines that were previously unknown to me, thumbs up! I recommend!
Dietary restrictions: Food from the kitchen very customer behavior very bad.bad and More
No good this Dinner
Great food, great service. One of Montreals top lebanese restaurant!
Went recently with family, all ordered food was delicious, servers were attentive and polite.
An excellent Lebanese restaurant with a personal and warm attitude. Great Lebanese restaurant that we always come back to.
dont go there
Best Lebanese food.
The best Lebanese restaurant in Montreal.
Kebbe akras with a taste of heaven, delicious fattouche, filet mignon skewers to roll around on the floor . In short, its worth the detour a hundred times!!!
Very good food and good service
The food is fantastic
Always great place, great food and fresh!
The negative reviews are right on point - they have gone downhill and are not the same they used to be. Portions have become way smaller, and prices are ridiculously high for the quantity and QUALITY. Waiters can be quite rude and impatient, it<s almost like you are disturbing them. The place is small and lacks ambiance, you can eat better food elsewhere with better portions. I also noticed sometimes you order something it never arrives, they seem to often forget stuff or bring it too late. You ask for meat cooked a certain way you get the complete opposite, you ask them to rectify the situation they bring it worse. Everything has declined on all levels, the restaurant in my opinion is way overrated, I would personally not recommend - first, providing better customer service and courtesy would go a long way and for the high price we pay, when we make a complaint about the food and told we can go eat elsewhere if we want to, I guess this speaks miles - one cannot charge such an unreasonably high price and serve customers this way. In my experience, no more.
The food was TERRIBLE- the filet mignon platter was chewy and tough (pretty sure it was not that cut of meat), the Lebanese salad (normally delicious) was purely iceberg lettuce and tasteless tomates, costing $10.50. To top the meal off, the tea consisted of a Lipton sachet in a mug and lukewarm water separately. The atmosphere: LOUD even though there were 4-5 tables only, and kids literally running around the restaurant. Loose enforcement of the vaccine passport, and table seated in a cluster, even though the other half of the restaurant was empty (why not space people out bc of covid?). Owner and staff look fed up and jaded. Not planning to visit this establishment again in my lifetime! Very disappointing to say the least.
Excellent restaurant!! Still delicious!!
The food is excellent, the best Lebanese restaurant in Montreal, but the decor and atmosphere are very ordinary. There were 5 of us and we ordered a bit of everything to share, everything was brought to us and the meat 30 minutes later so there wasnt much left to accompany the meat, we had eaten... potatoes in oil ca It s eaten hot, we don t let it wait.
Very good Lebanese food
