It's a small restaurant. It wasn't busy when we were there. The food was ok. It was my first trying the dishes. The squid fried balls were ok, I didn't expect them to be so chewy. My main dish, the noodles with shrimp and something else, was ok. Maybe another dish would have been better, but the fried pork didn't look appealing, and apparently, it was just ok, too.
It's the second year we order mooncakes there for Mid-Autumn festival. They have so many favours to choose from and they can make them vegan, which is really hard to find anywhere else. It's always so fresh and the owners are so nice.
I’ve never tried Taiwanese much so can’t compare but over all tasty. It cost around 50$ for the beef soup + pork with rice + 2x potatoes and fried chicken. So quite cheap ! We were the only one at that moment and there was no music in the background so we couldn’t talk much I was too shy to talk in the quiet place. I felt watched and heard haha So I still recommend :)
Highly recommend! Food was bursting with flavor! The owner and cook was so friendly!
Very cozy mom and pop shop! Food is good but not outstanding. Fried tawainese chicken’s spices were on point!
Maison Mignon is very easy to miss. This small family-owned humble business doesn't look like much from the outside (or the inside) but don't let appearances deceive you. The food is RIDICULOUSLY good. The owner is INCREDIBLY friendly, hospitable and honest. This is one of the rare places that I actually feel deserves 20%+ tipping. The beef noodle soup is easily one of the best in the city. EASY. This is a complete "Sleeper OP" restaurant. It is LEGITIMATELY one of those hidden gems. The prices are fairly low too. Strong recommendation for the Beef Noodle Soup and Almond Shrimp plate.
Family owned restaurant serving Japanese but mostly Taiwanese dishes. Very delicious and the price is very decent co spidering the quality.
Excellent homemade beef noodle soup with tender beef, chewy ramen noodles, and light soup broth. Love their marinated veggies /Sauerkraut (酸菜)! Crispy chicken was just ok, not garlicky enough nor much basil flavour for my taste for traditional Taiwanese popcorn chicken; though they are very fresh and crispy! Very friendly owners, and fast service. Look forward to try other homemade dishes next time!
I love this place, the perfect taiwanese recipe
Its an authentic and warm Taiwanese restaurant. The boss and the lady boss are very warm and friendly. The food all tastes like home, nutritionally balanced, and the quantity is sufficient. Highly recommended
I ordered the cantonese fried noodles, I had never tried it so I cant really say if it was the dish I didnt like or if it was just poorly cooked. The kitchen was ready very quickly, and when I looked to see if my dish had one last kosher shrimp because it was the thing that I like the most and I found a hair, I have dyed hair so I I know it wasnt mine, I saw the cook come out and she wasnt wearing a net for her hair... I left feeling sick after this discovery.
Great Beef Noodle Soup. Nice local restaurant I ll be back soon!
The chicken in the chicken dishes was slimy which I dont like very much and the restaurant is dull apart from some nice decorations. Also, there was no one there on a Saturday evening, it was depressing. That being said, the eggrolls were very good and the service was good even though English only. After going back to taste the Taiwanese fried chicken and beef soup, once again its ok but nothing more, I wont go back.
Delicious and very affordable!
Food was really good and prices are fair.
It was delicious! (Sesame Beef Noodle Soup). Good service. A little disappointed that we didnt get to try the UFO cake because we ordered on a weekday. We will definitely come back to try it! Also, excellent portion for the price. Its definitely worth it. Delicious food! (Beef noodle soup & beef sesame plate) Good service. Just sad that we couldnt try the UFO cake because we ordered during the week. We will definitely come back to try it! Also, a great portion for the price. Absolutely worth it.
I could not give you a review that described exactly what type of food this was, Chinese, Taiwanese or other oriental style as I have not got enough expertise to do that. I can tell you what you need to know though. Whatever type of food you wish to call it my family and I can only use one thing, Delicious! There is plenty in each portion and it comes out fresh to order, piping hot and full of flavour. Please do yourself a favour and visit this complete gem where you can still get real food at a very reasonable price. You will not regret it , particularly if you also chat with the owner who is a very friendly gentleman.
I love this man
Small Asian cuisine restaurant. I tried a Taiwanese specialty: squid croquettes and it was very good.
Comfort food, but above all, very nice owner!
Excellent!
Humble small mom and pop shop. The owner was very courteous and made an effort in getting to know us. We had their beef noodle soup before, it was good. Today, I took out their beef noodle soup and stir-fried vermicelli for my parents. Mom said the vermicelli tasted very good. They make their own pineapple cakes. They also make moon cakes in 6 flavours.
Prices are very reasonable and food tastes home made. Staff is nice and friendly.
Great spot with authentic food and kind service!
We tried the 3 Taiwanese specialties and we really loved them! The pineapple cupcakes were a real delight and the owner was extremely kind. He offered tea to my partner who went to collect our order, in addition to small biscuits. We can t wait to eat your good food again!
Maison Mignon Taiwanese restaurant is a hidden gem in the city. The menu is diverse, offering a mix of traditional Taiwanese dishes as well as some other Japanese and unique fusion items. The flavors are authentic, with a particular emphasis on fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, perfect for a small gathering with friends. Service is prompt and friendly, with the staff knowledgeable about the menu and eager to make recommendations. Overall, Maison Mignon is an excellent option for anyone looking to experience Taiwanese cuisine.
This place is cozy and the family that owns the place will give you amazing service and make sure you feel at home. On top of that, the food is delicious and not expensive at all.
The sweetest service I have ever had
Very disappointed with No.7 porc hache. Not to mention the little portion of porc served , Really not supposed to be this way of making this dish.
Its a family restaurant, service is slow. The owner is nice, but the food is quite normal. Nothing special
The sesame beef was good, nothing more, a hearty meal. The waiter served me in French throughout despite his limited knowledge of the language, well done! That s a big plus! P.S I would have difficulty differentiating sesame beef and general tao chicken because they taste so much the same... In short, its a good, unpretentious Asian restaurant.
Well-kept restaurant
Food tastes good with good portions, the owner was kind and friendly and very talkative. Place is a little run down you could say, but is completely normal for family owned Chinese restaurants.
Very cute little mom and pap restaurant, their food are absolutely delicious
One of my favourite places in Montreal! Service is super sweet and kind. And the food is so comforting and delicious. I highly recommend the beef noodle soup and fried chicken!
Best vegan mooncakes
In addition to Taiwanese dishes, the must-have local pear cake for dessert is very delicious. The boss makes it fresh every day. It is not as delicious as anything you can buy in Taiwan!
Very good, not that expensive and good sized portions!
A small non descript restaurant with a few tables. Owner is super nice. Really good beef soup and spring roll. Budget pricing. Highly recommended.
Delicious and authentic taiwanese food, especially their beef noodle soup! It is a must-try and probably one of the best in the city!
Strongly recommended Taiwanese style pork soup!!!
Friendly service, yummy and organic food!
Tasty, authentic dishes, in a homey atmosphere, at a reasonable price.
The service and food were excellent. The waiter was very attentive with filling my water glass and bringing the food right away so it was piping hot. The pineapple cake was a bit small for the price, but it was delicious with an almond flavoured cake and pineapple filling.
Tastes like a good meal from my Asian friends grandma. Good as usual!
I ve been here multiple times and it s always delicious!
Its a small mom & pop shop. The restaurant is tiny and cold in the winter. Their fried fish was great. The beef noodle soup was good. Dont expect a big menu or big Chinese style variety, they have a number of fried dishes that they do well plus the beef soup. Very modest place. I think its more suited for takeout.
Very tasty beef noodle soup and good portion. Their pineapple cake is actually better than some I had in Taiwan. Good price.
The best beef noodle soup in Montreal
The beef noodle soup is very nice. The soup base is simple but full of flavour. Love it.
Just had the Chiken teriaki, and never will get back there.
Excellent
Very delicious meals and not expensive. Must visit at least once to try yourself
Authentic Taiwanese cuisine. Cheap and delicious. Cozy restaurant.
A homely place for a meal. Owner was friendly and chatty. Ordered the braised pork rice which comes with lots of veggies, flavorful and not too oily. Will come again.
Cozy and casual neighbourhood eatery with super friendly owner. The homemade pineapple cake is absolutely delicious.
Their pineapple cake is devine! Fresh with pineapple shreds....the best Ive had in Montréal. The mom and pop shop is friendly and warm and their food is full of love!
Authentic Taiwanese food. Reasonable price, great hospitality!
Great service. Tiny place. Food is nothing special. I can cook home the same meal and Im the worst cook. No flavor, nothing . Gave two stars for the overall fast service . But food would be defineatly one *.
Authentic Taiwanese food, hospitable owner/chef
Perfect takeout for lockdown! Meat is very flavourful and tender, one of the best beef , chicken and pork I ve ever eaten, hands down. Vegetables are perfectly steamed/sautéed, not oily Or salty. There s a good variety of fresh vegetables in the plates. The soup base is perfect: hearty but not oily, flavourful but not too salty. Portion size is good for 1 adult hungry man. Plates are well balanced in terms of macro nutrients. I personally would like a little more vegetables though. Not much, if any, food additives is added, unlike most Asian restaurants I ve visited. Desert (pineapple cake) has perfect texture, flavour, butteriness is not too much and is not overly sweet. The food overall is delicious and healthy and filling and very reasonably priced. If i didn t like variety, I d probably eat there every day. Family owned business with amazing hospitality !!!
Here I am, once again rating Taiwanese food. I just ordered Beef stew noodle soup since I was craving some and it was delicious. Very representative of Taiwans food culture. It also came with marinated vegetables, it went perfectly with the soup.
Delicious! We love their beef noodle soup, minced pork with rice, and homemade moon cakes.
Great food and great conversation with the owner! Will come back!
It was our first time ordering moon cakes from Maison Mignon and I am impressed with the quality of their products. No preservatives, great client experience, love the packaging options and all this skills brought from Taiwan! The moon cakes comes in different varieties of flavours: red beans, green beans, taro, pineapple etc. We also ordered the Taiwanese pineapple short cakes, A+mazing as well. Tasty! I would definitely recommend and be a return customer for sure! Thank you for making quality pastries.
Visiting from Toronto (generally a better Asian food scene) and stumbled upon this place and it did not disappoint. The beef noodle soup was amongst the best I ve had.
Delisious and fresh food, very sweet service. Will be back:)
I always order to pickup. Every time it s quick and delicious !
ok ok
A family-style Taiwanese restaurant with a clean environment and a friendly owner. Beef noodles will be paired with a plate of pickled vegetables, which is the most authentic in Mengdao. Braised pork rice with some meat soup is also a good match. The wheel cakes, which are only available on Fridays and Saturdays, are hand-made by the owner. There are two fillings, red bean and cream, available on the day. The machine used for making them is specially shipped from Taiwan. It is located between Du Collège and Côte-Vertu metro stations, with metered parking spaces in front of the door.
Bit disappointed. Beef noodle was fine. But fried pork was bit smelly and overcooked.
One of only two spots I know in Montreal with Taiwanese wheel cakes. Dont know how their other food tastes, but the owners are a very sweet couple and are very accommodating as hosts, excellent experience in general.
Excellent food at this small mom and pop shop. They serve authentic Taiwanese food with care and it shows.
We went there with a large group that also included kids. The food was as I was expecting from a Taiwanese cuisine, and I enjoyed our time there. Its a small restaurant, there are only a few tables in a smallish room. The food took a bit long to come, which was a bit annoying, but overall it was good. The restaurant closes a bit early in summer (8pm), so make sure you arrive early.
Very freshly dishes, looks like homemade, superb atmosphere with owner of restaurant, great place for celebrating birthday
Taiwanese Home food style restaurant! Hidden gem in Du College metro area. Beef noodle soup was excellent and Taiwanese fried chicken was delicious. Will visit more often!
Amazing service, price was so reasonable. Very accommodating for a vegan and we were offered so much fresh vegetables and delicious food to share. Can not recommend this place enough based on the food and service. We were offered also very honest suggestion for food choice as some folks with me were not sure what foods they would enjoy the most as Canadian caucasians which was much appreciated.
The staff is very welcoming and attentive, the meal is very good and not expensive
Amazing beef noodle soup, enough said. Owner is very welcoming.
This is one of my regular lunch spots. Very friendly husband and wife duo. The food is great and reasonably priced. I typically take the sesame beef, with a hot and sour soup, but everything Ive tried on the menu is great.
Great taiwanese/Japanese homemade food without msg.
Amazing family run restaurant. Delicious, simple dishes made with fresh ingredients. Owner is super nice.
Genius Taiwanese food and a hidden gem in Montreal. We originally found this place through a friend who found it while searching for Taiwanese restaurants in Montreal, and the service we got is anything beyond ordinary. Granted, they are a small family business located in a slightly remote area, but everything we ordered (beef noodle, taiwanese porc and rice, fish fillet and rice, dried tofu) were so nuanced that they go beyond the sweet, salty, spicy and bitter that is so common of the western food culture. And this is something you know as soon as you pick up the spoon: the broth is intricately made, the beef is tender and nuanced, the noodle is just moderately cooked and great. They also manage to turn fish fillet and porc into some kind of local delicacy. Its like every detail counts. To be sure, weve gone to a lot of restaurants in Montreal, but a nuanced taste like this one is still almost impossible to find (definitely not in any large restaurant chain thats for sure). The owner and his wife dont really compromise on the quality, and they dont use fillers or other artificial ingredients in their products. You get a giant serving for less price than you get in downtown or other restaurants, and if youre lucky, you might get served other goodies thats not on the official menu. In fact, we got served some after-meal homebrew tea and homebrew black coffee (ingredients all imported from Taiwan, again these are not cheap for them, and they dont cut the cost here). And heres the funny part: the owner served us the coffee as a surprise gift to fellow compatriots. All in all, definitely a 7-star service as described in some business book. They go far beyond a simple business transaction. Friendly and chatty owner (an honest and an amusing man as well), with a true Taiwanese spirit of service. Any one with a tongue and living nearby should check it out its like eating at home except perhaps much better.
Best genuine beef broth beef noodle soup I ve had outside of Asia/China, the owner was super kind and suggested our plates. If you re looking for a wholesome mom and pop shop, definitely give this sweet little place a shot.
The food is excellent and well priced. The service is impeccable. The beef and noodle soup and their crispy fish are to die for! I recommend this place!
Great beef noodle soup!
The service is friendly and our meal was delicious (beef noodle soup, vegetable rolls, hot and sour soup, Singapore stlye fried vermicelli). My only suggestion to the owners would be to clean up the clutter in the restaurant... to make it more inviting.
Amazing food. simple menu, very friendly owners. I had crispy pork with homemade sauce and beef noodle soup and it was fantastic, great portions and value 22$ total, very affordable . will be eating here all the time.
Authentic taiwanese food
cosy place. good food and decent price. wholeheartedly recommended
Great beef noodle soup and tasty homemade mooncake. Non spicy, no MSG. Decent price.
The place is really nice and homey. Really nice Taiwanese couple. Me and my friends had a great time there.
One of the best beef noodle soup!
good selection of food with homemade taiwanese pineapple cake
the grill pork with the homemade hot sauce was really good. The owner was nice and the pinapple cake was good too.
