Everyday outfit preparing noodle soups, fried rice & an extensive array of other Chinese standards.
Mission Hunan Restaurant’s most famous dish was the spicy crispy chicken over rice…it was crispy as described and the sauce was so 💣💣! My good friend got that bitter melon and he says it was very good, too! Being in the Mission area…got a little questionable. But one bite of that spicy crispy chicken…who cares anymore of the area! 😂😂😋😋 And oh….free soup too!
I order food to go they send me away with the wrong food then charge me more money for extra soup that was their mistake. This place is shady will be looking for a different restaurant next time.
Always delicious food, specially chow mein and skinny noodle chow mein.
This place is better than you might expect. I gave 3 stars for atmosphere because sometimes interesting people from the street come in asking for change, or do other random things that are kind of awkward when you're eating with friends and family. However it's San Francisco that stuff can happen anywhere just more so here. I recommend the Shrimp Wonton Soup and the Fried Noodles with Beef or whatever meat or fish you prefer. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly orders were coming out and how fresh everything tasted. The service was welcoming and respectful, but if you're looking for special treatment, or for the staff to go above and beyond, it's not that kind of spot. Which for me is perfect. I look forward to trying the Curry Chicken next time I'm in the neighborhood.
Great flavors of a great and within budget Chinese cuisine I love every thing that I order but if you want to order Shu - Mai then asked for well cooked also they are very annoyed by special requests I found when I had a legitimate cause for nor being able to eat a certain food or foods it never comes out as good , it's either full of oil ( which I tested at the time natural olive oil 🫒 or I didn't get what I ordered specifically for me I have a dental injury after pregnancy it makes it extremely difficult to eat certain vegetables, but if you explain as clearly as you can what you can and can't eat they are willing to try just ask for their softer options 😀 they will find something for you and either ask for tooth picks or soft food accommodation
Great food..everything we orderedwas great....it would be better if they improve the actual place
The food was OK. The service was TERREBLY aweful from the receptionist to the cleaner. Make sure you check the bill EXTREMEMLY carefully before making the payment (They calculated my bill by hand and gave me only the total number (which was wrong). They charge you $1 for the 2nd plastic takeaway container (although e got two leftover dishes)... The cleaner yelled at us when we used more another piece of napkin which we grabbed from the next table. She snapped us to tell us to ask HER PERMISSION to grab another napkin... Unbelievable service! SFO, 09/2022
Excellent choices in food, Good price, and great location make this a great place to visit. Also the endorsement of locals who keep the place packed during high volume times speaks to just how this is. The wait staff is helpful and supportive and the food quite tasty. I particularly liked the spicy tofu. Highly recommended.
Great customer service. Great food. Horrible Location no comfy seats to sit u
Terrible service, the prices are changed without noticed, and the front ladies always ask for HIGH TIPS even if you dont get ticket,........ be carefull they denied to service to us. Otherwise food is really good!! The service is terrible, the prices have changed without notification, and the women in front always ask for BIG TIPS even though they dont give you the receipt..........be careful, they denied us the service. Otherwise the food is very good!!
Good food for the price. Good place to have lunch.
Just order the Mongolian beef over fried rice plate. $15.75. Huge portions and very tasty.
Came out hot and made to order. Sweet and sour pork and combination chow mein were great and in large portion.
Vegetarian options: Lots of tasty vegetarian options Food
I try to get potstickers here every time I go into the city as part of my ritual. I eat them on the corner and people watch people getting on BART. Food is good and cheap and the staff is always nice and working very very quickly. Being kind while working quickly in what can be a chaotic neighborhood is difficult. Really convenient location if youre using public transit.
Large portion and affordable, not a Hunan restaurant.
The foods tasty and reasonable.
One of the SF locals favorites in the Mission district. It serves unpretentious and yet delicious home-style Huan Chinese food all day. The daily lunch specials are very popular with free soup and large portion. If youre craving southern China Hunan style dishes, youve got to give this place a try yourself. By the way, as of June 2021, both dine-in and takeout are available.
My partner ordered food on DoorDash and we were thoroughly impressed! The wor wonton soup was filling, perfectly flavored, and generously sized. The broccoli beef was also great.
The roast duck with rice came with fresh broccoli all delicious at a fair price. Small dining area nothing fancy yet comfortable. Nice employees. Very happy experience.
Food is great! The service is pathetic I don t mind hand some tips but when the service is bad and the attitude of waiters is horrible I DONT TIP but this place they will force to give tips. I don t recommend this place to DINE IN
Food (chicken fried rice, pot stickers) were average. Shrimp dumplings and sweet/sour chicken were pretty good though. Very large portions, great price. Not the nicest part of town.
This is a delightful neighborhood Chinese restaurant, and my preferred spot for takeout. I ordered General Tso s Chicken and Shrimp Egg Fu Young. The chicken was crispy with crisp-tender broccoli. The egg fu young was an enormous portion with plenty of shrimp. Everything was ready quickly, tasted freshly prepared. While the worker who answered the phone was short and to-the-point, the same woman was exceptionally friendly in-person. Will be ordering from them again soon.
Food is always made fresh when ordered. Great portions and flavors. Highly recommend the walnut prawns. One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco.
Best chinese food in the mission dist.
One of the best Chinese restaurants in town. Very authentic and great taste. The staff is polite and well experienced
Great guangdong and Hong Kong flavors. I like their fried crispy noodles.
These gals work really hard here. It seems to get really intensely busy in the evenings. They always seem to hold it down though. Keep up the good, good mission Hunan! Vegetarian options: Yummy go to tummy.
Food is very delicious and the price is very affordable.
Love the fish fried rice
Food tasted fresh... service stinks.
Specialists in Chinese food with an excellent Asian flavor within reach of your pocket
I love to hit up this place atleast once a month. Not real fancy but the food is as chinese as you can get in this area. The servers seem to raise the prices everything I go though.... so I think ima take a break.
Don t come over here waste ur time & money. Horrible waitress. She come in yelling about our order. Meat was smelly.
NEVER EVER come in this restaurant!!! Server was terrible. food not tasty nasty
This place is as clean as you would expect being in its current location. Staff are somewhat friendly if you know what youre ordering. If they have to assist you, they can get a little pushy and short. The food here is far from tasty. Ive tried many dishes because this place is near my home thinking it may have been just that one dish Ive ordered but in actuality all their food lacks taste and is very bland in comparisons with othe Chinese restuarants in the area. I would not suggest this place. Go somewhere you and your wallet will enjoy.
They nice
Kinda expensive Not the best Ive had Food
Good food but the place is very dirty and the service is terrible, apart from the fact that they force you to leave very good tips
i got shrimp and black bean sauce over rice and i almost creamed on bart
This place has the best shrimp fried rice
Tasty and inexpensive You cant even look at the restaurant from the outside.
If youre on the lookout for an authentic and tantalizing journey through the rich tapestry of Hunan cuisine, look no further than Mission Hunan at 2960 16th St, San Francisco! Treat yourself to the gastronomic wonders of Mission Hunan you wont be disappointed!
Great food and excellent service. Neighbour hood is sketchy.
It is the worst restaurant in San Francisco. I ordered a meal, they gave it to me differently than how I ordered it, and when I paid, the lady forced me to want to leave tips. She even pointed out with her pen. I consider that the tip is earned by the waiter and I didnt want it. He pardoned me to the point of telling me not to go to that restaurant again, a great lack of respect from that lady. It is the worst restaurant in San Francisco. It was a bug on my food and the lady that work in the restaurant just wiped it off in front of me.
I had the best chicken wings today at this restaurant they were fresh perfectly cooked and delicious.
Just moved from ten years in Hong Kong to San Francisco. We felt right at home here. Everything from the ambience, the language, the furniture to the staff to the meal was so authentic! We are thrilled to find it!
Order kung pao chicken and they gave me this
The food is delicious
Actually spat the food out it was so bad
The meals there were delicious, hot enough, with many kinds of dishes, and the service was very good. You can dine in.
The food here used to be 10 times better than it was today. Also my food was served on a paper plate
Wow! And I eat a lot of Chinese food and it is so hard to find really good Chinese food but this was da best.We had the Mongolian beef with fried rice. It included: beef, red and green pepper, shrimp, zucchini, onions, green onions. Yellow onions, carrots, peas etc. The beef is seared, dark and delicious !
The food is good, the service from the staff, not all of them, is not good. The truth is, the last time I visited I did not have a good experience in this place.
Im always late and theyre so awesome about it as well as patient. Theyre very accommodating to my allergies. The food is delicious, portions are more than enough and is still hot by the time I get back to Daly City. Im here at least 5 times a month. Its worth every penny.
Chicken has smell to it. When complained they still charged full amount. Rude reception. Wont recommend if anyone values customer service.
Corn soup brought to the table when seated was yummy good. A huge menu, fast service, bathrooms were clean
Best Mongolian Beef Ever
I have been dining here for years and always come back whenever I crave Chinese food. The owners know and you will never have to wait too long for the food to arrive. I love their chicken chow mein it s fresh and flavorful, we always get wonton soup or cream corn soup, fried rice and Mongolian beef. Honestly everything in their menu is tasty and the food is never bland. You will not be disappointed
Best Chinese Food In San Francisco
It tastes homemade as in made by the lesser capable family member
I like the Special Rice Combination.
The best Chinese food in the city
Suitable for your taste and language and has a bathroom
Great food and attention.
Best inexpensive full service restaurant. Food portions are larger than most. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
The service is terrible. The owner should pay better to the 2 employees who are always there. I went with my children and they want to force me to give them a lot of money in tips when they dont earn anything. Its horrible that they dont do anything to improve the service.
Does not follow CDC guidelines
Excellent Food my Favorite Place to eat
Delicious food and a very relaxing meal. Superb hospitality
Korean chicken with extra sauce and large rice. SO DELICIOUS
Chinese food very good
Everything tastes great but i wish they had chili oil not just chili... chinese food is not he same without chili oil in my opinion..
Love the won ton soup
Good food. Always correct and good like you expect. They are reliable. Glad I can count on this place to have that good ole chinese take out flavor. Nothing disruptive here.... Thank god!
Greenest food so good
Its disgusting there are rats in the basement
Very good service and very friendly. I recommend it. The food is very delicious.
Glad they had outside seating!
It is a very special place for years, my children who are adults already enjoyed the delicious fast food, I would call it a community restaurant
Food is very good they serve a lot for just one person .
Ordered on door dash and didnt even get what i wanted they sent the wrong order and it took a long time
The orange chicken was wonderful !
Expensive for what small portion you get. Only purchase if last option
Inexpensive but good food. I go here about once a week. Great place if you are local and want a quick bite, just call it in. For the price and convenience its five stars.
Very good and above all very careful with the service
Delicious food
The food is very delicious and not expensive.
The worst shrimp fried rice ever. No salt, the veggies looks like canned and I got a piece of pork mixed on my SHIMP rice. Very disappointed
It is an excellent restaurant
Went since college time. Good. But humm... Inflation... Prices are up a lot
I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Shrimp with Vegetables and I couldnt believe how much food I got. Plus everything was delicious! I love this place.
Yummy!! Not expensive at all. My meal came with soup & hot tea for under $10. I dined in and thought the food was Scrumptious, hot and fresh!! Definitely my go-to Chinese place. You wont be disappointed here. Two thumbs up
Very good Hunan Chinese restaurant in the Mission! Quick service and big servings at economical price.
Excelente, great good and price.
Unreasonable charges, the same food has different prices every day, the beef brisket is spoiled and smelly
Very good food
Great food no waiting
Friendly and efficient service. Delightful and delicious food. Got to try it!!
Mission Hunan Restaurant serves really delicious & reasonably priced Chinese Food. Waitresses are always pleasant, friendly & provide great service. The restaurant has a varied lunch & dinner menu that includes a very good selection of rice plates, chow mein, fried rice served with complimentary soup. Portion sizes are enough for two people, or if dining alone leftovers are a possibility depending on ones appetite.
Very good food
The food is good but the wait is too long
The attitude is really bad and the food is not good to eat when it is very hot and you dont use tin foil!
Very good flavor
Cool
Open during Christmas
Delicious Food
Love the Chinese food here. Extremely large portions. Never had a bad meal!
I dont know if it has been observed. The prices have increased and apart from that they do not give Tiken And if you give them little tip they charge it to your accounts. practically a dollar more than I have read other opinions. They are kind, they leave the plate of food far from where you are in Almost thrown away. The plate once I forgot to leave the tip and the waitress followed me to the street is that good service. screaming for the tip. and the truth is the food is of very low quality!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great service and large portions you just have to be there before the lunch crowd around 12pm. All entrees comes with soup And the prices of reasonable. Theres also parking around the back.
Food was great. I couldnt say that service is bad, they just need to speed up a bit. A hungry customer shouldnt wait 45 mins just to get a meal, as lunch only give most people 30 mins to 1 hour.
Worst place ever. This is 2nd time there is a bug in my food. 1st time there was a bed bug. She only said sorry U want a new one and now another one And she said it s the vegetable. Than why the hell they not was. This is not ok. 2x already come on
I love their food...and the service is very good.
Decent authentic Chinese food that doesnt cost a lot of money. Great value.
good food
a local staple, that words dont do it just.
Best place for chinese food $
You wont get served between 5:30 and 6 PM because all 6 cooks take a break for dinner. This is the most rude and unerving a thing a restaurant can do. I stood there for 5 minutes yelling at the staff I was so mad at them because this was the 2nd time this happened to me there. They told me I had to wait a half hour for the cooks to finish their dinner. Totally unacceptable!
..food is always fast, deliciois, and hot.. pricing is why i come back
I love this place the food is so good and tasty I am always very happy and satisfied with the food here
Portion sizes were big but the food was not delicious everything was lame in taste
I told them I wanted my food in a to go container but that I would eat here. When it came down to paying the lady insisted I leave a tip if I was going to sit down to eat. What kind of damn service is that? Lmao
Keep in mind that the portions are HUGE
i didnt give enough for the tip is what the lady told me. i was like i am not giving you anytjing else.
Food was fresh and pleasing to the pallet. Thank you.
THAT FOOD IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND ITS NOT USEFUL I WILL NOT BUY IN THAT PLACE AGAIN THE ARROS CAME OUT RAW THE CHAOMIN HAD NO FLAVOR
A professional place
I love their Beef Chow Mein. All their foods feel pretty fresh.
Good tomato beef chow fun.
Great place for good quick and cheap chinese food!!!
Love the fried shrimp
If you want dine-in or take out great inexpensive chinese food. Every item are really Healthy portions of food cant go wrong here
This is the original of Chinese food. Best Chinese food in the mission district. Food here taste isnt bad. You get the amount of food what you pay for. They do need better seating and furniture.
Very tasty, fare quite popular with patrons, many call ahead to place their orders for faster grab and go, on limited time. Still the place can get crowded at lunch time. No reservations needed.
Barely edible food. Huge portions. Fast service. Just not very tasty at all. Dim sum was a total let down. Only the pork buns were good, and i suspect those are made offsite. We tried the beef broccoli, cashew chicken, pork fried rice. Ordered chicken chow mein but didnt touch it due how wet the dish was.
free parking
Great food, reasonable price.
Pretty tasty. I got 3 kinds of meats, and although I dont know what kind of meat I ate, it was a healthy portion.
It is a place I have not been to, I only registered the visit because I was nearby. But the place looks good.
The place is not the clean. The bathroom smells like a bar bathroom.
They actually served me paper with my shrimp dumplings and served seafood noodles even though I paid for seafood sizzling!!! Disgusting cheap restaurant
Great!!!!
Oh good service and good
Good food for being on 16th St!
Very delicious food, I recommend it and the service is fast and a very neat atmosphere.
Good
Good food and cheap in a mission st
Good food and affordable prices (free parking too)
Pops and Moms Fav place for asian food. Great and fast service.
Good food , reasonable prices but the location has no parking also to many homeless in the area. .
The food is very tasty
Down to earth place. Good food. Lots of families and blue collar workers come to eat here.
fresh ingredients
Waitress ran after me like a maniac for bigger tip than I agreed for
