We eat at brownstones frequently and last nights meal(Friday) wasn t very good, I had the fish and chips which look like it was plated by a two year old , I tried my wife s pasta and it had an odd taste to it but she seemed to enjoy it. We had the crispy cauliflower bites as appetizer and it was anything but crispy.

Pass. Drinks only. Hard to mess up beer.

So a little bit of background, ive traveled to thirty seven countries, and ive probably been to well over a thousand restaurants. I work in the industry at the executive C level. Gabby was behind the bar. Very pleasant beautiful smile and engaging. She spent the time with her customers and made them feel comfortable and welcomed. I had a draft which was cold. I ordered the cauliflower bites. I shouldve taken a picture and im sorry. They were thirteen ninety nine, and then, of course plus tax and tip would have come out to, lets say, you know, seventeen or eighteen dollars. There was maybe a handful and a half of pea size cauliflower bits that had been, I guess, tossed in a Cajun batter and deep fried There was nothing else on the plate except the dip. Now keep in mind the price, the atmosphere, the restaurant and were in sarnia, ontario, canada. August two thousand and twenty four. I asked for the menu again and check the price, and the description. Not what I was expecting, and that is a subjective reality comment, I realize that. But Im not willing to pay $18 for a couple of handfuls. Maximum of p sized cauliflower, deep fried. Food cost would be a maximum of two dollars and eighty cents. So based on a thirty percent food cost, your retail should be somewhere in the neighborhood of eight ninety nine. And they should not be served in such a small manner Ive had this dish many times at many different restaurants around the world, and it had never come out like this. I sent it back and I order the caesar salad. I wasnt asked if I wanted any protein with it. It arrived and it tasted good. However, there was a little bit too much dressing on it. I ate it and I enjoyed it. So based on the above, what would you expect? What would your expectation be from management? In all the restaurants that Ive managed over 4 decade, I have always instilled in the culture of my staff the fact that any and I repeat any complaint is immediately communicated to management and management comes over with the server and they have a discussion with patrons. And the issue is resolved. If the server does not communicate to management the issue, the server is either written up and/or terminated. Because that is how serious of an offense it is to the reputation of the restaurant. I do not know if Gabby communicated to management the issue and then management decided not to come over. Of course the dish was removed from my bill. I am a regular at that restaurant.However that should not matter. I like this restaurant and the atmosphere, and I do want them to succeed. Brian.

I kinda like this place. Its chill when the college kids are somewhere else. Nothing against them. I was a kid once. Just sayin.

Had Friday fish special for take out and was super impressed with portion size and flavour. It even stayed crispy after the drive home.

Service and food was excellent as always

While the restaurant itself is lovely, the food and service was awful. Fries were dry and cold. Chicken sandwich was not cooked. Our waitress was not kind, she chatted up and went above and beyond for the table behind us and barely spoke to us. Definitely do not feel like i will be returning.

Its OK, fish and chips were fine. Over priced but still OK.

Was there in the winter and had a great meal, this time it was ok. In the winter I recieved excellent grilled veggies with my entree, this time not so much. Now I did have the special fish and chips this time, and I get it fish and chips typically would not have a veg with them, but none of our dishes did, and being on the road as much as I am I appreciate veggies that arent just steamed.

I figured the place is decent by the looks and how busy it was but was disappointed when I bit into the burger and the bacon jalapeno popers fell short

They like to use chef mic (microwave) for alot of the sides to the dishes. Once I saw that I paid more then most places just to have them use the microwave. Ill never be back

I know prices have increased everywhere recently, which should induce owners to put more emphasis on customer service. Twenty bucks for an indifferent Cobb salad is still very thick. Lots of competition for the bar/restaurant dollar these days - Brownstones needs to do better.

One of the few places with a seniors menu. Food is always good. Specials when a leafs game is on.

Dining with a sports bar atmosphere, BrownStones has a section for those who want a little quieter space to meet, eat and greet. Moderately priced with some interesting food choices! Loved the cauliflower substitute for the usual fries and rice! Lots of shared parking spots.

Been there many times to just drink, got my alcoholic drink and walked away. Then they came back took my drink away and said can I look at your ID another ID and then the audacity to ask look at my birth certificate. You have no right to ask for birth certificate and on top obviously you cant read an ID properly if you had to go through this and I drank there before. Yeah Im 28. Even the manager that came out to look at them. This shows me they dont know how to manage their place or do things legally

I have been here a few times with friends and family and we have enjoyed our food each time we come. The food is flavorful and consistent each time. I have had friendly servers as well. The prices are a bit on the high side, but that seems to be the norm these days for sports bars like this.

This restaurant has seen better days. The food is same old same old. Over sauced and lots of grease. Servers are less inspired. A good atmosphere for a few beers and to joke around with the young servers. Just uninspired..

We went for our granddaughters 18th birthday. Our waitress was good but our food was barely average. We had coleslaw that was bad and the manager said he tried it and said it was OK. It wasnt. Kids chicken fingers had no seasoning , my wife had chicken soup that tasted like dish water and my jalapeno burger had no spice whatsoever. They also do nothing for a birthday. Will never go back.

I have always loved the layout of this restaurant, and the private room they have. Our server was very friendly and had some great systems. I dont think the restaurant was ready to handle a group of 16 though. Had to wait for the basics of water and cutlery. These things should be front ans center. We had to wait for items to run through the dishwasher before we could have them. Im glad they were clean, but they should be available. I know staffing is difficult post COVID. It is everywhere. Training seems to be different than years gone by, and without help, this will become the norm. Keep striving for higher. Out city needs you.

Best choice of cocktails are available at this place and also the ambience to this plce is worth a visit. The cocktails were really delicious specially Rum Chatta. Food was okayish, just like any other restaurant.

Great place to go to watch sports... wildly over priced tho. The fact that they advertise 11$ apps after 8pm thinking its some sort of deal is wild. Just because you charge 16$ for a microwaved app doesnt mean making it 11$ is now this great special. 2 for 1 apps was the best times. Also they offer miniscule portions of salsa and sour cream for nachos and then try and charge you for more. Little silly. Staff is always great tho, just cheap greedy management.

The booths are built for small people, not adults. The high-top chairs and barstools need cushioning. Quality and quantity of food is decent but needs some improvement. Prices are ok. Atmosphere is good, and so is the location. Lately, I have noticed that a couple of bartenders will provide much better customer service to those who are obviously rich. Its fine to cater to rich people, and your rich friends, but please be more courteous to the middle class, you know, the class that pays for the majority of your tips.

This was my third time here. Each time, the food has been good and servers are attentive without being intrusive.

It s been 20 mins, no one is here to attend or to take order, servers are moving here to there, this place is not something it used to happen a year before. Never recommend this place and very unwelcoming and poor service in Sarnia. First ever experience in the town.

We have always enjoyed Brownstones for drinks in the bar, less about the food. We were there with a large party, and could have used our own waitress. Alot more drinks would have been ordered but we couldnt find the waitress. Atmosphere always fun.

Weve been here a few times, always great customer service and food! Dont usually have to wait long at all as we usually sit in the dining area!

Very happening and great vibes. Drinks are best they serve. Top long island and moscow mule is couple of drinks you should try. Food is delicious and also staff is professional in their work. For vegetarian or vegan there is no options, only nachos. Food is 4/5. If you want to have some great time with friends, must go place in sarnia.

Im there for the Strawberry Frose, and I stay for the everything else. Golden tee, and the owner is kinda ok.

The staff was great. Atmosphere was great. However, the food didnt hit the right spot. Everything felt like it was missing something. The Philly cheese steak spring rolls were awesome though. Definitely recommend these. Can probably eat 2 plates to myself!

Good service. Our server was very friendly. We shared the spinach dip which was really good, and I had a burger which was alright. Ive had the same burger a while ago and I remember it being better. I can only imagine that the reduction of quality was due to government lockdowns as Ive seen the same mild reduction of food quality at multiple other restaurants in the area over the same span of time. Cant fault the restaurants for that.

Went in late for appetizers. Very good. A fun night out with the family.

Great bar and bar food! I ordered steak and veggies. The veggies where tasty and the steak was over seasoned and tuff. The fish tacos are so spicy I could only eat one. The staff was very polite and acceptable how ever they may have been under staffed we waited along time for our apps.

Poor service by a thin short haired guy calls himself the manager. I went to Brown Stones today at 1:30pm for my skip the dishes order. There was no one at the front, So I requested the employee who came to check something at the counter to please give me the skip order. He misbehaved with me saying can t you see am working.? I told him am just asking for my order. He was again rude and said get out of here I am the manager here. This was my worst experience in a restaurant in Sarnia. Is this how a manager should treat the guests.? Poor service

We have been twice in the past. Both times service was slow, servers were inexperienced and food was subpar for the price charged. On the most recent visit, I ordered one piece of fish n chips priced at $17. It came as a processed piece with dry crusted batter which had obviously been pulled out of a box and microwaved. For the prices charged I expect a better overall experience. Will not be returning.

The food was overpriced and dry. My crew is here from out of town to help with the flooding and we were sick of fast food, looking for a good lunch on a long hot day. Service was good, but the food was not. It was dry and disappointing. I wouldn t bother going back.

Drinks were extremely pricey. Some of them were only the size of a shot and they still wanted 10.50 a piece. And it wasn t even a big mixed drink either. Ordered an appetizer and never got cutlery or napkins or anything. Not great service. Waitress asked if we needed anything else and we said we were finished and ready for the bill. Then she disappeared for about 20 minutes and proceeded to help the table of guys drinking beside us. Mediocre at best.

Visited after not going for years and remembered why I dont go. Server was very short with us, seemed like we were bothering her to place an order, we could tell she wasnt paying attention when we ordered and we confirmed a couple items with her and she still managed to mess up 2 out of 4 meals. When she brought out the wrong stuff we asked her about it and were met with a sigh and eye roll. We were nicely sat next to the stinky bathrooms which gave us the opportunity to watch either the manager or supervisor come out of the bathroom with his hands still down his pants doing up his fly and then 10 seconds later he was helping deliver food to a table. Definitely didnt have time to wash his hands between touching his junk and touching those customers food. Absolutely disgusting. Portion sizes were definitely smaller than expected for the price. Unfortunate that this place is such a mess, I would prefer to support local businesses but not when I get experiences like this.

1st time ordered food from here.well not only were the efficient. But the chicken wings I ordered were huge .done to perfection. And very tasty.other places in town brag how they have the best wings .I know, the truth brownstones is my choice from now on

Only reason for 2 stars was for the waitress, she was awesome, no complaints there (would be less if not for her). Food was pretty sub par, I could get the exact same meal at a different restaurant for less then half the price and get more food then what we got here.

This evening, my family and I ordered dinner for delivery from Brownstones. Upon delivery, meals from our order were not in the bag. I called the restaurant to ask them to remedy the issue or deliver the missing food. The manager would not remedy the issue and told me our only option was to come pick it up (after we already paid for delivery). When speaking on the phone he was incredibly unprofessional, argumentative, and rude. In the end, we are left with no food or refund... Very unacceptable customer service.

The BrownStones experience leaves much to be desired. Nothing but big beer on tap; its a shame to see a locally-owned business turn their back on other local businesses (specifically Refined Fool, Stonepicker, and Sons of Kent). Brutally noisy, constantly having to yell across the table to be heard. Overly expensive: a $17 quesadilla?! Its the only place in town that has to advertise a naked steak (still at a whopping $33). Update 2022: if you like thin, pre-formed, over fried chicken patties, the Insane Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was made for you! The big screen with rotating channel schedule was an amazing addition to the atmosphere. To be clear: no sports playing, just channel info. Wheelchair accessibility: There are floor tables, but many of the booths are raised, and many pub-height tables. There is a good chance of no wheelchair accessible seating is available, especially on the bar side of the restaurant.

Well where to start. The service is extremely slow. After 15 min we finally got our drink order. Wait another 10 min for 2 ice teas a Pepsi and a hot tea. Another 15 min and no time to refill our drinks or even take our meal order. Sad when pile empty cups on the table and she walked by us a half dozen times looking at the empty cups. Finally got our food order. Bacon jalapeños poppers for a starter. What arrived I have no answers for it. A sliver of jalapeños with half cooked bacon and cold to boot. I order the bacon and spinach carbonara. Once again cold and the pasta was rock hard. My wife orderd a chicken sandwich. A dry piece of chicken with undercooked bacon, and a piece of pemeal that was as hard as looks we got from our server after we asked for a refill if its not to much trouble. All I can say for a 75 dollar meal id expect some decent food. Wont ever be back and Ill be telling people to avoid this place.

We never order out but last night was a special occasion, you guys showed me why Im sticking to cooking my own food. We recieved what Id say is half our food. For example My blue cheese burger had no blue cheese and 15 french fries on the side. Last I checked theres no shortage of potatoes in this world , yet prices keep soaring. By far the worst take out Ive ever received and last time I order from you. I do not and will not recommend your services to anyone. Awful.

Had lunch with work colleagues the other day. Service was great. Food really good, too. I had the clubhouse sandwich and it was better than I remember it being. Would definitely return!

I usually love the food here. But I just ordered their chicken wings and they were not good. They are fatty and greasy. I think they may be baked instead of deep fried. Maybe that s why they are not crispy. They re salads and burgers are pretty good though.

The food was amazing the company was fantastic lol I went to lunch with a friend of mine the waiter was very attentive restaurant was very and prices were competitive with other restaurants in the same calibre as this one. I will definitely put this on my list to go again
