I honestly don't see the hype about this place or people just don't good food. I went for lunch dec.7 and ordered a burger fries and gravy. When the meal arrived I had to reconstruct my burger because it looked like it got into an accident on the way to the table, tomatoes were not fresh but mush, onions were not fresh, fries were half cold and the clumps of whatever that was you claim to be gravy was absolutely disgusting. In my opinion this shouldn't even be served to the homeless and I will never return.
A feed days ago I order myself an omelette for delivery to my home, had a self care morning, food for one and documentaries I have had saved for so long, I’m always leery about ordering breakfast as take out as I feel breakfast foods don’t ravel well, HOLY SMOKES! When my breakfast was delivered I couldn’t believe my nose, eyes and mouth, this breakfast look gorgeous, it smelled delish and from bite one to the last bite I couldn’t believe the quality and taste! Unbelievable!! So tonight, my husband and I orders dinner and I suggested Johns given my previous meal, and I sort of put them to the test and order something I have had from other places, that I know is go when I dine in but doesn’t travel well, good old fashioned fish and chips, usually they get get so so so soggy, but I ordered for two reasons, I was putting Johns to the test and because I was craving them but didn’t want to get out of my comfy pants… ABSOLUTELY TO DIE FOR! How they heck did they master something no other place as! Packaging was nothing special and yet the fish and chip were absolutely something special!! Johns, you have managed to become somewhere I never thought to order to something I now crave, I crave the quality and the taste and the absolute perfect of the meal that is delivered! 10/10 would absolutely recommend Johns, in fact I’m trying to talk myself out of grocery shopping tomorrow so we can order Johns because oops I forgot to go shopping! Lol.
We were seated behind a wall secluded from the dining area 3’ away from the bathrooms. The only view I had was watching people come and go from them which was extremely unpleasant. There should not be a table in that spot and I would have gladly waited longer for a better seat. Service was poor because no one could see us. My asparagus omelette was mostly spinach. I didn’t even order the mimosa I came there for because it would not have bettered my mood sitting there regardless.
We rented their private room for my daughter’s wedding dinner. They were wonderful to work with. Heather helped coordinate linens and answered all my questions. The food was hot and delicious. The only reason I gave 3 stars for service was that we only had one waitress. She did so well though. Would do it again if needed!
Food was very good except the turkey in the hot turkey sandwich was dry. The gyros was fantastic. Only reason for 3 stars is that I ordered on line to be picked up at 5. I walked in to one person seating 2 people and 2 staff standing around staring at their phones and one sitting behind the counter shining glasses. This was a Sunday and the restaurant wasn’t busy. I stood there for 7 minutes. Finally the phone rang and the teen waitress stopped looking at her phone and answered the restaurant phone and took an order. I’m still standing there without one employee acknowledging me. After one employee walked by me 3 times I finally asked if someone was going to help me. I finally got my order to go immediately ,telling me it was just sitting in the back the whole time. In my opinion, it’s inexcusable to be ignored. At least acknowledge me and say someone will be right with you but these employees blatantly ignored me and in my opinion put in the bare minimum of effort or courtesy. It’s unfortunate that the food was good but the service put a bad taste in my mouth.
Fabulous meal with my family because we won't be together for Thanksgiving. Their Turkey supper is amazing! And pumpkin pie was awesome too! Staff were extremely polite and made our meal that much better. A gem in Sarnia for sure.
This restaurant has not changed from years past. It was nice to see that they offer gluten free options and have a separate area for cooking the gluten friendly food. Unfortunately, the food was cold and served which is the reason for the 3 star, other than that it an easy 4 star rating. Large portions.
Had a really tasty "Sunset Breakfast". The fruit was fresh and the egg, peameal bacon and toast cooked perfectly! Three different people approached the table to seat, offer coffee and take the order. All very friendly and efficient. Overall a great breakfast experience that I would highly recommend. Great service!

Johns is a Sarnia landmark restaurant with generations of customers. But this morning, cold food was piled upon a cold plate with no thought for presentation. And the bill was $55 for two breakfast guests. Its unlikely Ill dine there again, but I do wish them success. Our waitresses were attentive, but the kitchen is ruining this Sarnia icon.
Accidentally ended up here when another restaurant was closed and was so happy we did! Food was fantastic and there were so many other things on the menu we wanted to try. Well definitely be back.

Greeter seated us quickly, took drink orders, and brought incorrect drink. Server corrected the drink order and got annoyed that it took a few minutes for us to review the menu. Brought incorrect meal for one of us, never checked if meals were OK. We paid through their online qr code, but as we left overheard the server say that she was surprised that we paid. Will not eat here again.
This morning, my girlfriend decided to take me over here for a breakfast date, and it was rather phenomenal! We decided to eat at the patio which lets us enjoy the fresh air. For our drinks she had the blue raspberry lemonade and I had the blueberry lemonade. We both tasted each and they are a definite winner each. Now moving on to the main courses For her main, she went with the Korean BBQ with rice, and she enjoyed it so much, she decided to bring the rest home. As for me, I had the Benny s Florentine. And let me tell you, the spinach in place of the bacon was so fresh and tasty with that poached egg and hollandaise sauce, I didn t even need the ketchup for my home fries. I use what s left of my hollandaise! The service was super friendly too! For that, everything gets a perfect 5 star score. Expect to see us again next time.
I hope our experience was not the normal. Our server seemed to be very rushed and very disorganized. The ham was good and my husband reported his meal was delicious.

Big gnarly hair on the lip of my beer. Nasty black material on the celery of the salad. The Nashville chicken sandwich was good. Fries Ok. The first waitress looked like her first week in Canada. The food was served by second waitress with experience and had good vibes. $80 bucks for 2 Adult 2 kids. I tipped 5 bucks only for the second lady. Double check your food and utensils are washed at this place.

We had Johns cater an event for us and everything was amazing!! Many thanks to Theresa and Jacob! They set everything up for us and stayed through the first serving just to make sure nothing was missed and everyone had everything they needed. We had more than enough food for everyone!! They made sure our clean up was going to be simple and easy!

Best service in town. Food comes fast even when its packed. They offer just eggs also for any vegans out there!! I miss being able to go out for breakfast without options for me. So this is my go to. Wish more places offered it

The experience was amazing! We came with a large group of 18 people, from the time our orders were all taken to when the food all came was less than half hour! Our server Joanie was fabulous!!! Would definitely come again!

Very busy restaurant, and for a great reason. The breakfast was so yummy and piled high with peameal. They easily met my request for no toast or potatoes and offered tomatoe slices to take their place. Quick efficient service by many members of the team. Great work- we will be back!

After coming here for years and years I can say this place has never given me a bad meal, never over or under cooked. Never gross tasting. The chefs know what they re doing here. Workers are nice but don t refill my cup even if asked and after 20 mins of empty cup I always have to track someone down for more water. I don t like to tip high here due to that. Minus what seem to be lazy waiters I like it here.
An absolute must whenever Im in town. Service is always wonderful and a breakfast place that focuses on the bacon? 10/10 every time.
I had the jalapeño cheddar burger, in my opinion, the best burger I have had this year so far. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was good for a roadside diner. Im pretty sure they arent aiming for an elegant dining experience, and we didnt expect to find one. All in all, a solid 5 2/3 star establishment.

I absolutely love eating in at Johns however I got fish and chips tonight with a coleslaw that looked like it had been dropped in the slaw and served anyway which is disgusting to me. The staff doing take out need to understand people expect the same as if eating in

Haven t been to John s for a couple of years. Disappointing and hopefully a one off. Went today and coffee was like water, pancake was rock hard on the bottom and cold, toast was like cardboard and the eggs seemed small. The has brown wasn t cooked like it use to be. Was under cooked and mushy. This was always my go to breakfast place but not sure I will be back. Likely won t matter seems busy like usual. Hope it stays strong! *** Back recently and it appears to be back to the quality we came to expect. Price is reasonable.

Surprised me, but I guess thats why this family style restaurant has been around so many years. I was there for the first time service was friendly, fast and the food was good. Pretty impressed Definitely would revisit and try out a few more items on the large menu. Once again great service good food. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options to choose from Parking: Good size parking close to entrance many spots so no trouble there Kid-friendliness: Kids are definitely welcome but the fact that its a nice sit down restaurant there were few children there. So really nice quiet atmosphere. Wheelchair accessibility: No issues for disabled easy access to entrance and washrooms.
Johns Restaurant is just amazing for its food, service, and atmosphere!!! It has accommodations to suit any one who wants to dine there. The staff is first rate!!! And they are very courteous and pleasant The meals are going to be way above your expectations!!! Simply the best at what a restaurant should be!!

Loved loved loved the food. The mashed potatoes with that turkey gravy was soooo good. Home made stuff, Ill be back when I come to Sarnia. The only reason for the slightly imperfect service was I ordered hot tea , and found after the fact you had flavored tea. The waitress apologized and said she forgot to offer it. She was really really nice.
Awful it took them 15 minutes to give me a menu then once I was done my food and got the bill they put their own custom tip in without me having any say.

We spent a great dinner with firiends last night and the service and food was great. CJ & Jonatthan took great care of all of us. We had the gender reveal of the baby of one of my firiends and they really was excellent. Everything was just perfect. Highly recommend.

This restaurant has gone downhill. It may still be good for breakfast, but the Greek food we got there today was very disappointing. Meat was tough and potatoes were undercooked. Butter tart tasted old.

Really disappointed. The food was NOT what we ve come to expect. There was a bone in a Caesar chicken wrap and all the dressing was at the bottom. The frozen crinkle fries were disgusting - overcooked and dry. Burgers were meh. $90 for 3 of us. Will not return.

Johns is always solid. The menu is large. The souvlaki is always good. I believe the family is Greek so anything from that part of the menu is consistent. Breakfast is killer. Good ole peameal bacon is amazing. Its hard to get Canadian bacon at restaurants. I saw the guy from Dragons Den there. David Chilton. He is from the area and wrote the book The Wealthy Barber. A really good read. So basically the food is good, celebrity siteings are possible and they serve alcohol. Five stars imo.
They prepared meal quickly, too quickly. Served when I had finished only half of my soup. Hot turkey dinner ordered with mash potatoes , sorry no mashed. Meal was the gross brown meat from the back of the bird. Overall, with 1 drink, cost was 38$ for 1 person. Over priced my opinion. Third time ate here. Prior to this visit, 4 off us had supper, bill was $148 before tip. Will not eat here again. Regards.
Our team was in town for a hockey tournament and this was the closest joint to our hotel. I wasn t sure what to expect based on the 70s-inspired signage outside, but the constantly full parking lot led me to believe this was clearly a local favourite. We were not disappointed!! The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and the menu was diverse, inexpensive and made-from-scratch; all in all, everything exceeded our expectations. I can t say enough about their Friday night special cabbage rolls - simply delicious! We were so happy with our meal that we decided to return the following evening when I enjoyed their fall-off-the-bone BBQ ribs. Sides were simple but well-prepared and again, house made. Add to this the fact that both meals cost in the neighbourhood of $30 each (including wine, a starter salad and dessert!) you truly could not ask for more. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxed place to eat with REAL, home-cooked food. I should also note we went there on a whim with a last minute group of 30 people Friday and 24 or so on Saturday. Most places would fall apart given the size of our group - not John s. Service was exceptionally efficient, friendly and professional despite our group s size and relatively last-minute arrival (we called both times less than an hour prior to arrival). I can t recommend enough! Kid-friendliness: We were with a bunch of teens and they were treated just as kindly as the adults. Can t say this about all restaurants!!
Ordered the eggs Benedicts Skillet. The poached eggs were overcooked and the hasbrowns were more like mashed potatoes with not much seasoning. The whole skillet was lacking flavor. The kids ordered chocolate chips with thier pancakes, there were 7 chocolate chips added on top of the pancakes that melted and had to be spread like butter across the pancakes. This was an extra 1.99 for 7 chocolate chips.

Ordered breakfast. Service was fast. Food was not as greasie as most similar breakfast places. To note Johns does not serve regular bacon. Home fries were a refreshing change from chunked deep fried potatoes, that if ordered at any other time of day, would be called fries.breakfast sausage was the large style. Overall a filling tasty breakfast at a fair price. On the down side, upcharge of $0.70 to rye toast, but at least it was marbled. Believe coffee was not included in price of meal.

First time visitor. Pretty busy for a Wednesday afternoon. Staff were quick and attentive. $14 lunch special was great. Chicken skewer, pita, roast potatoes, Greek salad & tzatziki. Will come back. Food : 4/5

This place is fantastic......great staff and service and the food was packed with so much flavor I couldnt stop eating. Parking: Plenty of parking but it is also a popular place so you might need to wait for a spot at dinner time but it is totally worth it. Kid-friendliness: They have a nice kids menu Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of room for wheelchairs to get in and out from what I could see.

We live 2 hrs away and were recommended John s by a local person. It surpassed our expectations. Food was amazing. I had my standard hot hamburger meal and it was amazing and my husband had the fish tacos, they were amazing too!! Fresh, hot and delicious. Our waitress was incredible and the support staff was very friendly and helpful too. We will definitely be going back! Vegetarian options: They have a diverse menu with many different options. The blackbean burgers looked great and the salad choices were great. Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free options and were helpful with making informed choices. Parking: The parking lot was large and it was so busy and still had plenty of parking. Kid-friendliness: Definitely a family restaurant. Friendly and they have different areas so if you re looking for some privacy you can find it. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes it s accessible.

Johns. is nickel and dimeing their customers. I paid $36 for breakfast last week and $33 and change for their turkey dinner today. Way too much!. They uncharged me $1.49 for a bit of gravy on my mashed potatoes but I refused to pay the $4 or $5 uncharge to go to lemon pie instead of the horrible pumpkin. They have had the last of my money ...$5.50 for a bowl of soup is outrageous? So long Johns! Parking: OK

A wonderful place I have loved since a child. Return 30 years later and it is still busy and better than I remember. Definitely a place to eat if you are in Sarnia Ontario. Dietary restrictions: They are allergen aware and try very hard to accommodate. I had no issues with my severe wheat allergy and my celiac disease. Kid-friendliness: They are very pleasant with children.

Have been going to Johns since what seems like forever. Always good food - by some peoples standard, not fancy but good and decent portions. The only place you can get scalloped potatoes. Never understaffed like some places. Mar.15/2022 Today being my Wifes birthday, she wished to go to Johns for an indoor sit in first class meal as we always remembered there. We went for lunch and the parking lot was so packed, I wasnt sure we would get in, but after a small wait, we were seated and served. As usual, the service and food was fantastic. I was happy to find they still require masking until you are seated at your table, and again upon leaving. All their staff are masked for their own protection as well as the clientele. We were once again so well fed and extremely happy with our time there. Nov.24/2023 The great thing about Johns is that it is well kept inside and out and their food is always top notch. The staff is always friendly and reasonably quick to cook and serve.
What an incredible restaurant for catering! The manager called me personally to talk through our budget and what would work for us. She went out of her way to make sure the details were just what we wanted and that things were prepared right on time. Pick up was so easy, the food was delicious, and we are definitely going to highly recommend them for all of your catering needs near Sarnia! What a fantastic experience!!
We visited Johns yesterday (Thursday) for an early dinner. We have always had good food and friendly service here. However last night we were a bit disappointed. I ordered the turkey special and my wife ordered the chicken grill with a side of fries. We both had a beverage as well. My wife was served with rice in error but elected to eat it anyways. My turkey special was tasty as always however there was only a very small amount of chopped up turkey placed on a large mound of dressing and covered up with gravy. The side of green beans was taking up half the plate. I would have preferred to see more turkey and less of everything else considering this was the Holiday turkey special. I think they can do better here but they were a bit busy at the time but this is not unusual for Johns and should not be factored in. We will be back though as the breakfast here is always a hit.
Place waz packed but were we attended too in a timely manner and seated, the wait staff was exceptional and had our orders out quickly and were delicious
New in Sarnia and tried Johns for dinner. Was a great meal. Staff very friendly and pleasant. Will be returning.
Great staff, busy but enough tables, great food and wonderful place to feel welcome for a nice meal !
