The halibut is the best I ve had in this region and better than some places on the pacific coast I especially enjoyed the thin batter on the thick pieces of halibut That s the proper way to enjoy amazing fish and chips! The only disappointment was no refills on drinks

Im not exactly sure what has happened to stellar products that have the time taken to make a great product. I ordered 2 halibut and chips and a burger and chips. The quality of the products served is aweful. The fish has hardly any batter on it, the chips are completely soggy. There is absolutely no excuse for this type of service from anywhere. This would never have happen when it was The Warf. Sarnia home grown entrepreneurs who had pride in their product and the quality of the product given. Too bad. My friend took it back and the manager ir owner was exceptionally rude. Not a way to make tge public and people that you serve happy. Will not be back.

The food was pretty good. I had the 13 dollar haddock special with house salad.

Weve been to Halibut House a few times now. Its not one of my favourite places to go but the food is good and the staff is very friendly. Whats lacking is the speed at which the food is served. It always seems to take longer than most places, which isnt too bad unless you are really hungry or in a hurry. Today was the exception where it took close to an hour to get our food and we had to bring it to the attention of the waitress before anything was done. We had been waiting 35 min. for our food when 4 other people came in, and were served their food before we were. The waitress apologized, saying it was a computer glitch and told us our meals would be on the house, which was very gracious of them to do. We got our food about 10 min. later. Several of the staff checked on us and apologized again and made sure everything was ok, which it was. The food was delicious. I had an omelette with toast and homefries and my husband had eggs, bacon, toast and homefries. We will probably go back again, as long as we arent in a hurry.

Food was hot. They were accomadating for me as I brought an individual with special needs with me, and they were attentive, refilling, and checking on us. Affordable, quick, family atmosphere and not pushy! We will definitely return!

They have changed their batter for the fish recently making it much more greasy and bland. We get halibut and it isnt as good the last couple times we have been here. Fries are average at best.

Upon Arrival, We Seated Ourselves at a booth for supper. We Expected the Waitress to Provide a Menu with Different options and that didnt happen. The waitress Pushed The Daily specials on us. So we agreed to try. The Fish was good, lightly battered. The french fries were very hard to chew., The vinegar beaded off of them. The coleslaw was a vinegarette style which wasnt pleasant on the pallet. We werent offered the dessert menu at all. Not surprised as no menu was offered in the first place. When the waitress brought our bill , her tone was very unprofessional. I think maybe because I didnt eat the french fries and or coleslaw on my plate. I dont think Ill return to this restaurant. In my opinion, it could be better.

The best breakfast in Sarnia! Two eggs, perfectly cooked to specifications, two slices of toast done to our specifications, crispy outside tender inside home fries and 4, yes 4 slices of thick cut bacon. Two can dine, with standard tip, for under $20.00. Delicious! Staff are friendly, attentive and pleasant. Our Sunday go to for sure! We also go one a month for the amazing fish special. Best fish meal ever!

I go to this restaurant every Sunday with a group of friends and the staff is always amazing, they do a great job of making sure everyone is taken care of in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend to go here!!

The food was excellent but as somebody who works in the food industry there were a lot of problems. The staff is severely over worked, rushed and poorly managed. There were flys and the staff was rushing to clean and vacuum while we were eating because they DONT GET PAID AFTER 8:00 PM. That s horrendous for the management to do that to the staff. People shouldn t have to swat at fruit flies and listen to a vacuum while eating, not to mention the dirt and dander it kicked up which probably landed on the food we ate. Dietary restrictions: As someone who doesn t eat gluten they had many options. Parking: Parking by the front of the business approximately 20-50 spots. 2 driveways. I love this place the food is great. I aways order the lunch halibut as the dinner portion is too filling for me. The coleslaw is great, fries are hot and fresh and the fish, light and crispy. Yum! I had my fair share of fish and chips coming from Toronto and this place top 5 for sure! Staff is nice and friendly as well! 11/10 i am definitely going to be a repeat offender here!

Absolutely awful service. Fron the time we walked in until we left. We werent greeted, just told to sit where ever. The food was sub par, fries werent cooked properly, the coleslaw was pure vinegar and the halibut was super greasy. They never checked on us to see if we liked our food, or to see if we wanted anything else. They tried to charge for a gravy that was never brought out, and when I told them their service was awful all they said was oh. Will never go back here again. Waste of hard earned money.

6 of us went for a birthday dinner , I was not impressed my wife and I ordered 3 Halibut and 2 chips with ice tea and asked to have the fish cooked a little longer , after a 20 min wait it arrived worst fish and chips . Fish was mushy and the fries were cold and hard . Then the topper the bill $81.53 .. food and price was better when it was the wharf .. will never eat there again ..

Great fish n service

Visited here last weekend, and I must say I was not impressed by any means with the food or service. The server we had was very unpleasant and rushed through our order so she could have lunch with her boyfriend/friend. We were not asked if we needed refills. The food was ok, but not what we d expected. I truly miss the Wharf and wish it was here rather than Halibut House. For anyone who visits, please know this place will never be as good. The fish is not hand battered on site, but rather frozen as each piece of halibut is the exact same size and perfectly square. The texture also doesn t taste that of halibut, and it is very easy for them to claim it to be halibut when in reality it could actually be any other type of fish, because you don t get to see it being cooked. At the Wharf, Will would let his usual customers see how the fish was filleted and cooked. I won t give this place a second chance nor recommend it to anyone. We tried it and were disappointed.

The biggest issue here is the attitude of the server! No smile, no greeting, gives at least 45 seconds to look at menu. No communication or manners what so ever! Food was chillin, got bacon.

Our first time here, hubby took me for my birthday dinner!! Food and service was EXCELLENT! Restaurant was nice and clean.We shared deep fried mushrooms dusted with parmesan, they were amazing! Halibut and fries were amazing and great portions! I will say the coleslaw was just ok....we added more vinegar salt and pepper.Service was very good, food was fairly quick coming out and it was fresh and hot. The fries are fresh cut and very very good! AAA+++

Incredible food; everything was so delicious!

Fish was a little oily for my liking. But for a chain restaurant it was a fair price for a family meal. Liked that they had a condiment area where I could take only what I needed and in the quantity needed. Therefore reducing waste of condiments gathering dust in a forgotten drawer until they take take a life on of their own, before drying out and shrivelling away. Decor is essentially the same from Captain Jack days and really could use s freshening up with brighter colours. Parking: Parking lot as well as street parking for overflow.

Price did go up by $1 and does make a difference of you are going once per week, was $12 for a one piece halibut and fries with coleslaw, one server was confused and thought the coleslaw cost extra but it always comes with it. I understand inflation so we still go just not as often

The fish chowder was terrible, no flavour and chunks of thickener. Clam strips where tiny and over cooked. My husband s cod was good. All and all not worth the price (very expensive).

Tried them for the first time today, at the drive through window. We were unaware they are a chain at that time and wanted to support a local shop. We ordered the Wed. Special of King Cod and Chips for $12.00. The fish piece was large, I would say about 10 long, lightly battered and crispy fried, sitting on a bed of chunky cut fries made from real potatoes (not mashed potatoes extruded). The fish was well cooked, not overcooked, not under. The fries were done just right as well. We asked for tarter sauce and lemons and were given that with our order, which I would think was made to order as we waited about 4-5 minutes for the order to be processed. Definitely a reasonable wait for super hot and fresh fish and chips! Will definitely be back, I hope others give it a try as well so this place stays open in our community.

Went for lunchand had the fish and chips. Also had the fish taco apps and battered mushroom apps. My husband ordered a V8 to drink and it had a strange taste to it. Definitely NOT V8. The coleslaw tasted odd as well. The rest was ok tasting but within an hour of eating, we both felt very bloated and nauseous. The feeling got worse for me to where I was close to tossing my cookies. Had to lay down and didnt eat again until the next day. Dont know if it was food poisoning. Maybe the tartar sauce or the coleslaw ??? Definitely wont ever be eating there again and it was the first time.

They have great fish and great dinner foods but the menu is kind of all over the place. I tried it for breakfast (all I got was bacon, eggs, hash-browns and toast) and it was honesty one of the worst breakfasts I ve ever had. Will continue to return for their dinner but never again for breakfast.

$4.95 breaky, CANT beat it!!! Good deals all week also. This time the fries werent crispy and there is something going on with the ketchup...deff not a main brand, noname maybe???

The cod was very good, tasty and not greasy. I have to say this is the best Caesar salad I have ever had. Even though its not greasy, it leaves me feeling very satisfied.

If your looking for a place to take the kids halibut house fish and chips is the place there service is spot on and I highly recommend trying the poutin usualy im not such a strong lover of poutin until I tride theres it was a beautiful spoon of melted cheese and beautifuly deep fried fries

Im from Europe and I dont think its an accident that I traveled half way around the world and found this store. This is mostly the case with my eating habits. The fried fish and chips here made me feel that the simple ingredients are obtained through simple cooking, and the taste obtained is the taste of the ingredients themselves. French fries are also my favorite, but they are my childrens favorite too. Really good.

Got the salmon and rice w/ bread with and butter - Salmon was very dry, also not very flavourful at all - Rice however, was delicious, soft, and buttery - 2 pieces of bread came with one tiny packet of butter that didnt even cover half of one slice, for $5
