Legacy Restaurant in Sarnia

Went for their $47 Thanksgiving breakfast buffet. We had reviewed the menu prior to going so we had decent expectations of what we would have. It looked good on paper. When we got to the buffet stations we saw that the seafood station was just ice cold seafood all pilled upon each other. Not appealing at all. We got the food items that looked ok and took it to our table. Everything but the duck, turkey and omelettes were ice cold (and the omelette was smaller than your palm, and browned). Eggs Benedict has a teaspoon of hollindaise. Mixed grilled vegetables ? Ice cold Salmon entree ? Ice cold Seafood ? Ice cold Roasted potatoes? Ice cold Gnocchi ? Ice cold mush I was going to try the soup even though thats an odd breakfast option but we feared it too would be ice cold and we were already too chilled from the experience. Save your money and go anywhere else. Its just the drawbridge inn made nice looking but its still across from the Kenwick building and their bed bugs.

We had a 7:30 dinner reservation for Mothers Day. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating, but other than that we were not impressed. The buffet left a lot to be desired, perhaps because it was close to the end of their evening. The most unnerving aspect of the evening was the staff started to pack up chairs and rearrange seating areas, (clearly in preparation for the next day) before their patrons had finished their expensive dinner ( very bad form!). In general, our Mothers day experience was poor.

We went in on this quiet evening. The waitress was absolutely precious! The place was clean, fine, and beyond expectations. Thank you so much my lovely waitress. Deeply appreciated. And a huge hats off to the chef..tremendous cooking my friend. Thank you so very much.

We stayed 2nights at the Insignia hotel and for both nights we dined at Legacy. Our1st night was so good, we reserved for our 2nd night. Our server Paige was excellent and the others so friendly. The food was delicious. The dining room is extremely attractive and comfortable.

I love coming with my family here because the service is soooooooo nice they are so sweet, kind, and welcoming. They take great care of me and my family. PLEASE BRINNG BACK THE eggplant parm it s soooooooooooo gooooood. Please. All the food is sooooo goood especially the eggplant parm. Thank you Jack and Swas.

Went to the Christmas Day brunch buffet - it was excellent

Absolutely fantastic food and service. The sea bass was the best Ive ever had! I also had a steak, and it was wonderfully prepared and seasoned. We had coffee with our dinner, and it was top knotch as well. We dined on Christmas eve with our sister and her boyfriend and had an exceptional evening. We came in from the U.S. and it was worth the extra effort.

A group of 8 for our night out and the experience was a great one. Staff, management and chef were on point ! Jack (restaurant manager) checked in several times and made our evening that much better. Appetizers, main course and dessert was excellent. They certainly delivered tonight. Thank you !

I cannot say enough about this restaurant and staff. The food was amazing and we were treated so well. So much ambience. Be sure to request a booth. The manager was so knowledgeable and recommended a wine we loved so much. We ordered a bottle for our room the next night. The server was wonderful as well. Go treat yourself and have at Legacy dinner. And while we were added stay at the hotel Insignia. Beyond fantastic. Thank you!

Had breakfast an was really good an the service was excellent Wheelchair accessibility: So again it was alot of stairs but they are on top of accommodating your needs for people in wheelchairs. They have stairlifts throughout the hotel.. beautiful accessible bathroom an rooms ..

Great atmosphere, beautiful restaurant, great customer service.

Hands down the best restaurant in Sarnia - I ordered the rosé gnocci and it was amazing! You can tell it was all homemade, because the gnoccis were pillow-soft. Its a bit on the expensive side (and thats coming from someone who lives in Toronto), but the portion was huge - I had enough leftovers for lunch the following day.

I was there on Mothers Day. Extra tables were cramed in and made it difficult to navigate. It was hot, stuffy, and very loud. Our server was good, but a person helping with water to the tables was very clumsy spilling drinks with no apology. In the past, service and atmosphere were excellent.

VERY DISAPPOINTED - brought my wife there for a later bite to eat in the day. Wife had mussels, and I had a Caesar Salad and asked the server to just have a couple shrimps popped on top. Nothing big. Expected two or three, no different than adding chicken or something like that. When we received the bill, she billed me for a full order of shrimp! We expected no more than $5-$6 dollars for the extra. The shrimp were $20!!!!!!!! MORE than the friggen salad! My tiny salad became a $35dollar salad!!!! Service was out the window and the server was uninterested. Rather than check on us, she was nowhere to be found. Instead of complaining, we just left -knowing I d write this later. We ve both been servers. We understand. This however was ridiculous and unprofessional. Beware

Had the t-bone, 23 oz of mouth watering deliciousness. Excellent service fantastic food. Vegetarian options: Chef whipped up a veggie pasta for my lovely wife, being a bit of a picky eater, she loved it, 9/10!

I went with my girlfriend I had the steak and she had the salmon I cannot speak for her My meal was delicious and the presentation was very tasteful I did get the extra mushrooms and onions which was not scrumptious but I was not charged What was disappointing are the paris prices but not the ambiance Our waitress was very nice but her outfit lacked pizzazz The young man who brought out the meal had extremely poor communication skills The gentleman who brought the drinks screwed up the order and forgot to iron his shirt It was not elegant by any stretch I must admit we were outside so I did not see the decor or the bathrooms but in the end I was expecting more for the value

Once again I would like to thank Jack & his awesome team. The 8 oz. bacon wrapped fillet was perfect! Cooked perfect & sooo tender & tasty, it just about melted in your mouth! From the Ceasar Salad to the Tirimasu, along with the Sambuca nightcap the night was perfect! Swas, the waitress as always, was exceptional & we cant wait until our next Date-Night in 2 weeks when we return for another exceptional night out. Maybe well see you there!!! Thanks Jack!

At Legacy restaurant, food, service an ambiance is a cut above. Weve been traveling around Ontario and our meal here is the best weve had on the journey, by a long shot. Excellent place.

Not only was the food delicious the atmosphere and staff were amazing! I had a shrimp and scallop pasta and it was the best seafood pasta I have ever had! Scallops and shrimp were large and so flavourful. My husband had the special bacon wrapped filet with truffle mash potatoes which was also excellent. Our server was very attentive and even brought us a delicious dessert for our anniversary celebration of chocolate and raspberry ice cream, best I ve ever had. 100% recommend will definitely be back next time we are visiting Sarnia Wheelchair accessibility: Elevator in the building

Stopped off for a bite while staying at the hotel. Was very nice and the servers were friendly.

We stayed at the Insignia Hotel so decided to try out the restaurant downstairs. Staff was friendly. I expected formal dining yet other guests were very loud! I ended up with a pounding headache when I left. Not what I expect from a formal dining setting. We ordered flat water but the waiter gave us sparkling. Food was alright. Shrimp wasnt as fresh as I expected given the price point. Having leftovers, my food was packed but no sauce was moved over so I ended up with pieces of dried meat, which I will not eat. Overall, staff was friendly but food was lacking given the price point.

Excellent service from the front desk to walking out at the end of the night. Coats were taken for us, very friendly staff, and an informative waitress on specials and choices. Great food and atmosphere as well! Will return in the future. * UPDATE * Came in for Mothers day and had a fantastic evening again. Amazing service as always and tastey food.

Great food. Amazing service you will not be disappointed. Michelle was amazing thank you! We tired the the chicken Supreme and the veal Chop. Both cooked to perfection.

Worst eggs Benedict ever. Eggs were over cooked. Not sure what they used at their attempt of hollandaise as it was orange and splitting. The worst part is that this was all stacked up on the bottom of a hamburger bun which wasnt even toasted so by the time it got to the table it was a nice mushy mess. Server was friendly, coffee was good, but they shouldnt offer items they cant execute.

Amazing dinner

The food is great! The crabcake is spot on - crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. You only get one but its the size of a hockey puck and comes with enough veg for a small salad. Their beef stroganoff with homemade pasta is delicious. You must try ANY of their desserts - you cant go wrong. My personal favourites are the tiramisu and crême brulée.

5-star service 5-star food, great choice of wines. Highly recommended

To start the food was delicious, very impressed with the chef and kitchen staff. But I would only ever get this food as take out again as the service was horrible. We were ignored the majority of the evening. Had to ask for cutlery and napkins after our meal was brought out and about ten minutes later were brought just cutlery. Had to ask for water to be refilled and wait a very long time for everything. Heard great things about the food here but nothing about the service which makes sense the service was horrible but food delicious. Sad as we went out to celebrate a big milestone and it put a damper on the whole evening.

Great experience all around. My date was impressed and I looked much cooler than I actually am.

My wife and I have been in Sarnia for 2 years now and weve made it a tradition to celebrate every and all milestones here. The service, food, and atmosphere are just terrific. An excellent establishment with the most wonderful staff. The food and drinks....oh my goodness the food and drinks!! Everything weve ever ordered has been absolutely amazing!!! I highly recommend Legacy! PS try the dirty martini and the meatballs as an appetizer!

Our server was awesome and the best part of the meal. The shrimp bisque was terrible! Nobody at the table of 8 liked it. Dinner was not terrible but not what we were expecting for the price and a high end restaurant. Food was bland. Those that got the steak like it. Parking: Street parking

Dine in for 6 family members tonight . The food was excellent -sea bass , lamb , and steaks - cooked to perfection .excellent service . The gentleman even ran the lift to accommodate my brother in his walker.great ambience . Very very impressed with this dining experience and would certainly return , and tell my friends . Thank you very very much . Awesome !! Parking: Parking easy, very close to the building . No issues. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessibility needed for people using walkers and wheelchairs. We were happy to see this provided at the restaurant ..

Stayed at the Hotel and the Legacy restaurant is an absolute must. Such wonderful food prepared and presentation was beautiful. Dining experience was superb from beginning to end.

Incredible food and excellent service. If you are looking to for something worth celebrating restaurants reopening then look no further. There isnt a finer restaurant in the city.

Serendipitous is the most concise word I can use to express my absolute delight in dining at the Legacy. My wife and I celebrated our fiftieth anniversary there and were overwhelmed by the graciousness and attentiveness of our hosts. The entire staff and especially the maître d were extremely accommodating in ensuring that the various dietary concerns were dealt with. We ordered the Rack of Lamb and were amazed at the skillful preparation of this. The plating was magnificent and that alone would have been enough to impress me. The actual meal was divine. Im an Aussie and have more than my share of lamb, but this was fit for the gods of Olympus! I was stunned what the chef did with something as lowly as carrots and asparagus! The entire team of Hosts did an incredible job, an ever-increasingly difficult thing to do these days in light of Covid protocols, which were met in every way without being obtrusive. The overall atmosphere of the Legacy was formal without being stuffy and was most comfortable. When one is made to feel welcome and special by all of the restaurant team, how could one not feel comfortable! Thanks ever so much for your graciousness, professionalism and especially the magnificent meal!

It was our anniversary dinner. Every thing was perfect. The staff were amazing, even the manager helped serve and the food was so good. Beautiful restaurant- took our daughter here for her sweet 16... she loved it. I had a Caesar salad that was so-so, they accommodated my complaint very nicely and make amazing Americanos!

We shared a Caesar salad. Brothers entree was the duck and mine was the pan seared chicken. All were melt in your mouth delicious. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere was like like being in a good friends home. The prices were in line with comparable restaurants.

****UPDATE*** We returned for another dinner...and were not disappointed! From the greeting to our professional server to the final goodbye...a most enjoyable evening out. As expected the food did not disappoint. Hubby had the bruschetta and salmon...me the caprase and seafood pasta...and of course wine! So nice to find an establishment whos menu is hand crafted (vs all Sysco!). Finally a restaurant with a great menu, ambiance and professional service in Sarnia. So why only 4 stars? First the hostess that greeted us with you guys. So inappropriate for a more elegant establishment. Second, as an older couple that adhered to the dress code of business casual, wanting to revel in the dining experience...other loud, young couples in beach attire were seated around us. Both of these disappointments can be attributed to the training of the hostess. As someone with about 30 years experience in the service business I always question why the youngest/untrained are given the position that sets the tone for the dining experience? Of course well give it another try but will be more vocal as to where we are seate

Went Saturday night for dinner food was excellent. When I got my bill and looked at it I was very surprised. 1 glass of their house red 9 Oz was $20 a glass, I have no problem spending money on a great dinner but when a glass of house wine is the same price as a bottle of wine from the LCBO. I would say that is a little over kill. It is to bad because the food was great but not likely will go back

A bold fine-dining experience, and truly a gem in Sarnia. Stocked bar that makes drinks well-beyond the standard menu. The only place Ive found that makes a Mint Julep as a regular menu drink. The restaurant really knows how to make its guests feel special. My wife and I just celebrated our anniversary there, and the meal came w complimentary raspberry tartufo! Very reasonably priced; full service dinner for 2 (appetizer, salad, entrées, dessert) including apéritif cocktails and digestif drink, + 18% tip was under $100/person.

Omg this restaurant could not be any better. Everything was mind blowing from the taste and presentation of the food to the wonderful staff. Enjoyed every single bite of our meal. Overall had a superb experience and will definitely go back!

Legacy Restaurant at the Insignia goes above and beyond. By any standard, Legacy absolutely delivers on everything you expect from fine dining. Stunning dining room, great service, and the food was spot on (including some notoriously finicky dishes my table ordered). We had a fantastic experience (indeed, the best Ive had in Sarnia) and will certainly recommend + return.

Best dinner weve had at a restaurant in Sarnia since moving back here 4 years ago. Truly fine dining with linen table cloths, candles, attentive service, delicious food. Ultra fresh caesar salad, perfect medium-rare steak, best seafood pasta and wonderful creme brulee. Worth the extra $$.
