Fantastic Korean restaurant in Sarnia, featuring dishes including kimchi jjigae, galbi, bulgogi and other various types of Korean food.
Last night, my husband and I got off work a bit late and were really hungry, so we decided to stop by a Korean restaurant. Unfortunately, the place closed early at 8 PM, so we didn’t get a chance to dine in. However, we opted for takeout, and it turned out to be a great choice. The restaurant space is quite spacious with private booths for customers, and the Korean staff were friendly. The best part was the food, which was 10/10. I chose tteokbokki, while my husband went with pork katsu. I’ve had tteokbokki at many places, but here, the rice cakes were soft and chewy, almost melting in the mouth, and the beef sauce was incredibly aromatic, rich in protein. The pork katsu was crispy on the outside, and inside, it was paired with a peanut butter sauce with a distinct vinegar flavor. However, the side dishes were a bit small for two people. It was quite interesting to find such a delicious and authentic Korean restaurant in the city of Sarnia. Highly recommend for people to try. The location is next to The Highness cannabis.
10/10 reccomend, I'm so happy that Sarnia has a good Korean place I can reccomend to people. My go to is the seafood pancake, but the spicy pork is also amazing. The kimmari is perfect. The service is always great, and the decor and vibes are beautiful.
This place is fantastic. One of my favorite restaurants in Sarnia. I personally love the soft tofu soup, but everything I’ve had has been good. The lady who owns the place is wonderful - I can tell she really has a passion for what she does. Here’s to hoping that this place sticks around!
Food is amazing and staff are so kind! My friend and I went here on a Monday night at around 6pm and it wasn’t really busy. The portions for the main meals are huge too so you get a lot of food for a good price, my meal was around $27 and I had an appetizer and a main meal.
We tried Sodam restaurant last night and it was great experience. We ordered the Cheeseballs, Dumplings, Kimchi fried rice, Korean style deep fried chicken and Peach Soju. It was our first time of trying Korean food but won't be last time. We all loved the food, it was really flavourful and fresh. The service and ambience was great as well. Sodam is our next favourite restaurant in Sarnia now!
As our mom was in the ICU, my sister and I came back to Sodam a number of times, bringing family to share this amazing food with. The service was impeccable and the food is warm, comforting and prepared with love! Amazing flavour profile and the kindness of the server kept us coming back even in the darkest moments of our lives. Our mom would have loved this place!! We will continue to love it and support this amazing new family restaurant! Thank you for your kindness and for treating us like family!
Super happy with my experience here. Food was authentic to what I had on my trip to Korea. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. I hope more people try this restaurant out. Sarnia needs more places like this one. I’ll definitely be coming back ❤️ Edit: I’ve been back multiple times and it’s still just as amazing as when I first went. The owner is so kind. She always thanks us for coming back as we leave and she’s just the sweetest ever. ❤️
We couldn’t be happier to finally have an authentic Korean restaurant in Sarnia—welcome, Sodam! Gone are the days of long drives to London or Mississauga to satisfy our cravings. From the moment we stepped inside, we knew this place was special. The warm, heartfelt greeting from the owner, Ju, made us feel like cherished guests in her home rather than customers in her restaurant. And the food? Simply phenomenal. The house-made kimchi was so irresistible I couldn’t help but ask for refills—a rare indulgence for me! Our feast included pork bone soup, chicken katsu, seafood pancake, and bulgogi. Each dish was bursting with flavor, and while it was far more than two people could finish, the leftovers made for an equally enjoyable meal the next day. The ambiance at Sodam is just as inviting as the food. Warm lighting and cozy private booths make it an ideal spot for date nights, yet the menu is perfectly approachable for families—even without a designated kids’ menu. The vibe is always lively, especially on busier nights, and it’s clear this restaurant is quickly becoming a community favorite. This visit, we treated ourselves to the Pork Bone Hot Pot—a true showstopper. Don’t let the name fool you; it’s loaded with tender, flavorful meat and hearty enough to satisfy a table of four. It’s the kind of dish that brings everyone together. And then there’s the dessert: bingsu. This Korean icy delight is the perfect way to end a meal. Finely shaved ice is layered with toppings like sweetened condensed milk, fresh fruit, and other delicious surprises, creating a dessert that’s light, refreshing, and wonderfully indulgent. It’s not just a treat for the taste buds but a visually stunning dish that adds a touch of magic to your dining experience. Thank you, Ju, for your warm hospitality and to your amazing team for delivering one of Sarnia’s finest dining experiences. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!
As a student in Canada, I did not really had a chance to go to this resturant. So I decided to get a job and visit here with my first salary. Finally, after ages I got a job and I am going to be 20 after this day. It was like a dream came true moment for me when I entered the resturant. I am big fan of korean cuisine and really wished to try it out one day. This is like my first time eating the korean cuisine and I was absolutely not disappointed. The food is fresh, flavorful, and authentically prepared, with a wide variety of delicious dishes to choose from. The ambience is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with friends or family. The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming, which adds a personal touch to the dining experience. I really can say that this is one of the best days I ever had in my life. Good food and the little joys in life, like a kind smile or a cozy moment, have a magical way of bringing me happiness and reminding me to cherish the simple pleasures. I really got all of this from sodam. I loved the owner lady. Highly recommend this hidden gem!
Great food . Great service . Will be back again and again .
Best Korean food. Love every dish Ive had there. My favorite place in Sarnia.
Great food and very friendly staff. Highly recommended!
Very nice and delicious restaurant. Every time we visit , it is a delightful experience. Great and friendly service.
I had the beef with spicy base in stone pot, so good, highly recommend. Staff were super nice and attentive. Overall great experience!
Great food. The owners genuinely take care to ensure your experience is top notch!
Found this place on a whim during our drive back to Chicago from Niagara Falls. We ordered a few items, but the real highlight was the (soon tofu). My mother ordered one herself, and after my dad and I had a taste, we HAD to order a 2nd bowl for ourselves in addition to our own orders. Seriously the BEST any of us have had in a long while!
Amazing food! Had the pork bone soup, super filling, hardy and flavourful. Service is super friendly and attentive.
Fresh food and house made kimchi, and they make you feel like part of the family. We eat there once a week and never get tired of the amazing flavours. Recommended dishes
The food is delicious, plentiful, and really friendly!
Didnt expect to have great Korean food in Sarnia, but this was some of the best Ive had!
Highly recommend. Quality food, excellent service & portions were larger than expected. We will return.
We arrived and someone was there to greet us with a smile. We ordered Tteokbokki hot pot and Kimmari, both SO delicious. She also brought my son more potatoes as he liked them a lot. Great service, great food. Must have!! Vegetarian options: Kimmari was a veggie option. Many dishes were tofu or no meat. Noodles, etc. very yummy. Kid-friendliness: They were SO sweet to my 3 yr old. She got him more potatoes as he enjoyed them and even sent us with a small thing to go for him.
I dont know why this place isnt packed! Atmosphere is lovely, service was excellent and the food outstanding! I had the seafood pancake & beef dumplings. So good....Ill be back.
We had spicy chicken, cheese balls, tteokbokki, and pork soup etc. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and professional. I loved this restaurant and definitely want to visit again. Thank you!
Wow, the food was amazing!! Every dish we had was excellent and the staff was really sweet. We are from the US and will definitely be crossing the border again for this authentic Korean food.
Loved every dish we ordered! From The complimentary delicious kimchi and pickeled onions, to the delicious beef black bean noodles, the kimchi pancake and the super yummy tteokpokki! Our owner/server was super sweet.. this is a gem for sarnia and we will be back for more ASAP! Food
Yummy and authentic!!! The service was so lovely and genuine. If you want something different in Sarnia run to Sodam!!!
We came back for another flavourable meal.
The food here is wonderful. Definitely not mall food. The staff is very nice, the atmosphere is great and the food is cheap, considering the amount that you get. We had a Bulgogi hot pot and it wasnt spicy hot at all. (Ive heard that you can add spices yourself, if you want). The hot pot could easily feed 4 people. Parking: Tons of free parking.
Decided to have lunch date with my son and mom. It was a quiet time and the lady was very kind and very friendly. Ordered appetizers kimmari and dumplings are among our favourites was definitely delicious. The pork kalbi, japchae with beef and tteokbokki with cheese was delicious. We finished up trying Pat Bingsu dessert very refreshingly made from shaved ice with sweet red bean, mango & lychee jelly, ice cream, grain powder and condensed milk. A must to try.
Amazing food Exceptional service, they re always so kind and accommodating And the atmosphere is amazing, especially if you get to sit in the booths I love it here Amazing Food : 5/5 | Service
The only Korean restaurant in Sarnia! I love taking my friends to introduce my culture.
The service is always excellent and the food is amazing. I recommend Bibimbap with spicy beef in the Hot Pot.
My wife and I had a wonderful and delicious experience for our first time at Sodam and it won t be our last. The dumplings, beef bibimbap and beef bulgogi soup were out of this world. The food was hot and came quickly. Our server was friendly, helpful and very attentive. We would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for something tasty, unique and special.
Beautiful restaurant! Delicious food! Very friendly staff! One of the best restaurants I ve ever been to!
First time for both of us trying Korean bbq and we had the most delightful experience. The food left us wanting more but we couldn t because of how full our bellies were. We will definitely be back for the amazing service, atmosphere and cheese balls as those will surely be in our dreams until we can have them again.
I mean where do I start- The service is impeccable, they re all so friendly and kind. The place itself is decorated beautifully, and they seem to have a passion for the food they make which is clear just through the taste and quality. I so highly recommend this place!!
Sodam Korean restaurant in Sarnia is a gem, serving authentic and delicious Korean dishes with generous portions and reasonable prices. While they excel with popular dishes like bibimbap and Korean style chicken, I hope theyll consider adding samgyupsal (Korean-style pork belly BBQ) to their menu in the future. Overall, Sodam is a fantastic addition to Sarnias culinary scene!
Really tasty! The flavours of the food were so comforting, and the staff were lovely!
Perfect spot! Dont miss if youre passing by Sarnia! Excellent service, delicious food and a fun ambiance with music and nice plants.
growing up korean in sarnia there was never any korean food (except for in my house). of course after i move away they get a korean restaurant. my family loves it and goes all the time, and im home visiting so i went with them. very yummy, very authentic. had their jajangmyeon, some of the best i ever had. love their selection of banchan (gamja bokkeum is always my fav and theirs was delicious). my mom ordered this huge plate of japchae and that was seriously some of the best japchae ive ever had (but u rlly have to use scissors to cut the noodles, theirs was really sticky). the owner was lovely, her and my mom get along really well. overall very satisfied and very grateful that theyre bringing authentic korean to sarnia. gamsa habnida!
The food was michelin star worthy, and Gordan Ramsay is missing out. My waiter was so nice, and his name was Yeong Cho. He gives out so much priority to the quality of the food, and makes sure the customers enjoy it. I ended up tipping $30 because of this amazing place. Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options were amazing
Service is fantastic, food is delicious (can t go wrong with the spicy beef soup). We ve been back many times and get the same great experience each time. Highly recommend.
Such amazing flavourful food! Ordered off of other reviews and went with the gyoza, korean fried chicken and bulgoggi - highly recommend all!
Very good food and the service was great! Very friendly staff!
Great tasting food and the service was wonderful. Very friendly staff! Authentic Korean food. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Food is delicious here. Have been several times for an appetizer, the cheeseballs are delish. We get them every time. The bibimbap, chicken katsu, soybean beef soup are some of our favorites. Pretty much everything we have tried is very delicious and the service is really nice. Food
Great place!!! First time trying Korean food... and it was great!!!
Ate there recently and was impressed. Food was so good. Nice to see a place like this in Sarnia. Will definitely be returning again!
Amazing food and service
Really friendly Korean owner. The quantity is very generous and delicious. If you are coming from the U.S. to Canada by land, I highly recommend stopping by and having a meal!! I hope your business prospers and continues to prosper!!
Delicious food, great service. Will definitely be returning!
The Army Pot was an experience! Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp available to access the main entrance, and the dining area and washrooms are on one level. Food : 5/5 |
Somebody recommended us this place.. we couldn t resist. And woooow! The food is so flavourful, the place is really cozy, and the staff very friendly. Definitely an experience 10/10. Food
Good service.
Amazing food, service, atmosphere wow super happy with our visit. Dear Cho was the best we absolutely recommend this place it was wonderful
Stopped in for some takeaway. Specifically for the Bibimbap with beef soup bowl. Tried the Bugogi soup with beef. Another winner as expected. Savory and sumptuous with all the additional tasty compliments. This has become our favorite food escape Food
Absolutely amazing! We ve visited several times and the food is so good, the owner is extremely nice and all the staff are very welcoming. On my first visit I ordered the bibimbap in a beautiful stone bowl sizzling and oh so yummy! Second time around we got the japchae (glass noodles) my absolute favourite dish. The spicy chicken, spicy beef and crispy chicken are all perfection!! If you re craving something unique & full of flavour sodam is so-dam good!!!
Great service and outstanding food! Thank you! Recommendation: Kimchi Hot Pot Dietary restrictions: Offered an option that was gluten free, thank you! Food : 5/5 |
Had a lovely meal at Sodam yet again! The food tastes healthy and made from scratch. We tried two appetizers, Kimmari and Cheeseballs both very savory and satisfying. I cant do too much spice so I ordered the Beef with Soy Base Bibimbap; healthy and comforting taste. Husband loves spice so he did the Spicy Seafood Noodles; great spice level and woodear mushrooms gave such good texture and earthiness. We like the kimchi and potatoe side dishes the best. We treated ourselfs to a plum soju and it was very smooth, great to cleanse the palate between spicy bites!
Was super excited to try this place out and it did not disappoint! We went as a group of 4 and tried the Korean fried chicken, chicken katsu and the pork bone hotpot. Everything was amazing but the Korean friend chicken was my favourite dish. Portion sizes are definitely made for sharing so best to go with a group (or go extremely hungry!). I also loved all their soju options since it s seemingly impossible to find flavoured soju at the LCBOs in Sarnia. Service was also excellent things were brought to our table quickly and everyone working there was so attentive and friendly. Can t wait to go back to try more of their menu!
Authentic and delicious Korean food. The owners moved here last year and their food is amazing! So glad I went
Let me just preface this by saying Ive wanted a Korean food place here forever and I couldnt be more dissapointed. The service is not good, at no point did anyone even ask us how the food was, even at the end when we refused to take home which was a large portion of food. Asking about the menu lead to almost no information being gleaned about what the dishes actually were. My girlfriend asked what kind of cheese was in the dish she was ordering and the waitress told her shredded. The chicken was low quality and gritty, my girlfriends seafood potato pancake was greasy and almost devoid of any actual seafood. Im trying to think of one redeeming quality for this meal and i cant because it feels like I just got robbed of 70 dollars. In my entire life of eating in Sarnia this is probably the worst first time experience Ive had at a restaurant here.
Had the pork bone soup, cheeseball, and Korean fried chicken. All delicious dishes. Waitress was really nice as well. 10/10!
I had the beef japchae and my mum had the bulgogi soup. We shared the cheese balls. Delicious food, filled us right up and the price is really good. I believe it was one of the owners (?), she was really sweet as she served us and we had a couple questions about some of the side dishes and she gladly told us everything. Definitely recommend for both small groups and large groups, will eat here again! I hope Sarnia appreciates this restaurant.
We enjoyed our meal here. We ordered the Korean fried chicken, beef bulgogi dish, and a spicy bibimbap that we shared at our table. We loved every dish and will be back to try more. The menu has lots of options, portion sizes are large, prices are quite high for sarnia but we felt worth it since we usually have to drive far for good asian food.
Amazing speedy service. Welcoming smiles all around!! Food is so amazing
Awesome food, best service I have experienced in a long time. My daughter and I visited for lunch and greatly enjoyed the food we were suggested to try. Great price and so much food!. Look forward to our next visit!
Food was delicious and the waitress was so kind and friendly. Nicest place Ive been to in the area, will happily come back.
First time eating Korean food. The owners were very friendly and hospitable. The food was well presented and prepared. Portions were large. My wife and I shared the Korean fried chicken and fried rice with lots to take home.
We thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine; it all seemed to be crafted from scratch and was exceptionally flavorful. It would be great to have the option to adjust the spiciness, with choices ranging from mild to medium and hot. I opted for the pork dish, and while I appreciated the heat, my wife wouldnt have enjoyed it as much, despite it being marked with just one chili (as indicated on the menu). However, when it comes to authentic Korean cuisine, we lack the expertise to make a definitive judgment, as this is only our second visit to a Korean restaurant. The service was outstanding warm and attentive. The portion sizes were quite generous; my wife ended up taking half of her meal home, and even I couldnt finish my portion. The prices seemed reasonable; our total bill, including taxes and a 20% tip, came to $63. While the restaurants location isnt our favorite, we believe it would be better situated downtown on Christina or Front Street. One area that could be improved is the menu descriptions; some dishes were written only in Korean with no accompanying explanations. We will definitely return to try different dishes. I hope this restaurant succeeds and becomes Sarnias first Korean restaurant, offering a refreshing alternative to the numerous pizza and burger places in town.
The best restaurant in Sarnia! You wont find better service, friendlier staff, or better food. If youre unsure of what youd like, ask your server for suggestions - they wont steer you wrong. I have loved everything Ive tried, but the frie chicken and spicy beef bibimbap are two of my absolute favorites.
Great restaurant that keeps us coming back for more. Mom loves the bulgogi, Dad loves the Korean fried chicken, and I have loved everything I have tried so far. Tonight I had the Kimchi hotpot - definitely bring someone to share it with. Super flavorful!
Food and service was outstanding! Very welcoming staff and portions were definitely worth it. Would recommend to anyone!
Sodam Korea completely enhanced sarnia with their amazing food, services and atmosphere. The workers are incredibly sweet and their food is a must try!!
the food is amazing and workers are so sweet! Definitely be going back to this wonderful place!
Sarnias first authentic, Korean, restaurant! Great food, great service. Looking forward to the next visit!
I had chicken Katsu it was cooked perfectly so crispy and tender. The servers were so kind and attentive. Looking forward to coming back for the Korean fried chicken soon they say its their most special dish.
Ordered take out opening day and I was so happy with what I received! Portion sizes were great and flavors were delicious! They have great Korean fried chicken and Kimchi fried rice. Will be ordering again very soon! Food
Great food! My fiance and I shared the army stew and others had bulgogi; we were very full afterwards! We will definitely be back for some fried chicken! ! Parking: Many spots available.
Great new spot in sarnia. The food was good. The staff was friendly and able to answer any questions about the menu. Vegetarian options available. Would recommend
Just one here for the first time for a birthday dinner and everything was amazing the kimchi wouldn t stop coming so good and it s the best Katsu in town ! Amazing Korean chicken and spicy rice cakes cheese balls were really good as well! 10/10 Also very friendly lovey staff Prices are decent for the portions
So excited to see authentic Korean food here in Sarnia. Went to try it and both the pork bone soup and bulgogi soup were fantastic. Just as good as some of the best Korean food in London and GTA, perhaps even better. Service was great and atmosphere was great too. Absolute 5/5 and will definitely be back to support the business.
Delicious Food. Friendly Staff. Definitely returning.
What great Korean! Thank you for opening up your business in Sarnia. I lived on the west coast and this Korean is as good if not better. Really worth a stop
Was happy to taste the Korean food, reminded me when we traveled to Korea... Good to eat ... Food
Food was good and portions were large enough to have some to take home. Staff very attentive and eager to please. Not very busy yet, hopefully that will improve as the word gets out! Parking: On the west side. If park on the east side, you either have a longer walk or you climb through the railing.
Everything was great but I really enjoyed the Tteok-bokki and seafood pancake. Looking forward to visiting again.
My son and I really enjoyed our experience here, from the whimsical decorations to the attentive staff to the good food. We had the dumplings to start, the bulgogi and kimchi fried rice. We especially enjoyed the dumplings and bulgogi. There were small complimentary dishes served and we definitely didnt go hungry! Would highly recommend this as a pleasant dining experience.
Loved everything about this place! Service was super friendly and the food was top notch! Can t wait to go back and try more.
Thank God Sarnia finally has a Korean restaurant
Best Korean restaurant in Sarnia! There is huge party room as well as lots of cozy booth. Definitely good for big group party and family dinner. I had their spicy beef soup and korean style deep fried chicken. It was so authentic flavour and also reasonable price too. Highly recommend for everyone who want to discover the korean food.
So happy Sarnia finally has a Korean restaurant!! Delicious, authentic food, we shared the army stew (hot pot) and it was so much food for 2 people and for such a reasonable price. The staff are amazing and very friendly. Cant wait to go back!
Great food and great service!!!
Absolutely love Sodam Korea. The food & service are amazing. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and they appreciate their customers. I am in love with the bulgogi pot, itd the best most comforting bowl of soup full of flavor. Well definitely be adding this restaurant to our go-tos.
We had the privilege of enjoying dinner tonight for the first time at Sodam Korea restaurant. The friendliness, service, and hospitality were outstanding. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The food was excellent-every dish we had was delicious and the serving sizes were generous. Our servers went above and beyond. We will definitely return.
Had an awesome dinner, will definitely be back soon!
I ve had Korean in many places and this one is decent, especially for being in Sarnia. The Bibimbap was flavourful and the pork galbi (Dwaeji galbi) was tender and very well-prepared. The server was attentive and polite and the location seemed clean. We enjoyed the feeling of privacy given by the large booths. We will be back.
Had dinner at Sodam - Sarnias first Korean restaurant located on Exmouth Street (Kitano Japanese old location) Service was great, Heeyo was our server, very friendly and prompt Food was delicious! The owners are extremely kind and welcoming! We will definitely be back & highly recommend this restaurant to those looking to try something new.
our server Heeyu was very friendly and I felt she was genuine. The food was delicious. I appreciate that the spice level was slightly muted so I can judge how hot to ask for next visit. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant. They could use a little more themed decor but Im sure that will come. Over all Id say AWESOME. Next date-night is planned already.
Finally don t have to drive to London for a nice bowl of pork bone soup! We ordered the pork bone soup and bibimbap. Food showed up super fast. Both were very delicious! Loved the portion size. Service was great. Housemade kimchi tasted fresh and flavourful. Would love to see some bean sprouts for side dishes in the future :) Definitely would recommend!
I highly recommend this restaurant. Food is sumptuous. Staff are very accommodating. special mention to Ishtar, Cherry and Kristy for being so friendly and attentive.
It was a wonderful experience; felt like I was in Seoul. Servers are really friendly and the food is great!
First time coming here friendly staff and quick service. The food our appetizer was extremely fast and hot That s not what I m here to talk about this PORK KATSU!!!! first time trying it amazing definitely coming back to try chicken and other things on the menu!!
We always enjoy coming here! The staff is so personable & the food is delicious. Our server Ishtar was so kind, hospitable, & considerate and made our dining experience highly enjoyable. She was so quick! We enjoyed the seafood pancake, bulgogi (Korean BBQ marinated beef) & the chicken katsu. Thank you to the owner, Ju. You are truly something special. Shes so warm & welcoming. I wish you & your staff a lot of success in life. God Bless!
Our take out order consisted of dumplings, cheese balls and Korean fried chicken. Every mouthful was amazing. The food was just as good as when we dined in. Simply fabulous! Thank you.
We came in late before closing (so sorry), yet the service was stellar from Ju. She was very accommodating and we had fun chatting with her. The food we ordered was amazing! I personally loved the pork galbi and dimsum. Delightful! We definitely enjoyed our time here. Thank you so much, Ju!
Very friendly staff and generous portions, not to mention the delicious food! I will definitely be returning.
