Poached offers up a unique and delicious array of all things brunch! With a selection of eggs benedicts, omelettes, and house made creations, you won’t be disappointed!
My husband picked this establishment randomly on Google Maps while we were in town. We were both very happy with our experience. Not only was the food amazing, but the atmosphere was beautiful as well. The Roasted Asparagus and Baby Potato Omelette was the breakfast I didn't know I needed in my life, and my husband just kept saying "this is so good" about his Stacker Meal. Definitely out new favourite spot in Saskatoon.
Loved my experience at poached! Got a half order or poached egg on creamy cheddar hashbrown with a side of croquettes! Added a side of hollandaise as well. Delicious.
We had a great breakfast this morning. It's was pretty quiet Monday morning. The service was so caring and atmosphere was classy. I think they have the best bennies actually.
Food was delicious. I got the salad, with fruit and a poached egg on the Risotto. Great choice. Loved the atmosphere.
This is the best breakfast spot in Saskatoon (in my opinion). We had the 1/2 Poached Crab and risotto cake with the feta and chicken sausage, the 1/2 Poached over cheddar baked hashbrowns, and the maple bacon pecan roll-ups. Everything was delicious! Their freshly squeezed orange juice, and chai latte were also really good. There were so many nice touches that we noticed, like the fresh cut flowers at our table, the overall decor was classy, yet casual and comfortable.
I have been to poached more times than I can count. It has always been one of my favourite restaurants in Saskatoon. It has always been 10/10 service and food. Today, however, I attended and we were unable to order what we wanted due to no food stock? They only had one bagel left in the building(which I had) so my hubby had to order something else, the reason we go there is for the bagels and homemade cream cheese . They’re so delicious. They were also out of fresh orange juice (they offered Tropicana). Also I always get the breakfast plate and it always comes with a salad but today I’m not sure if again they were out of stock but it came with 2 pieces of wilted arugula. See photo. So disappointing.
I went to Poached Breakfast Bistro with a friend, ordered the Benny's over crab and shrimp rissoto cakes with a side order of the cheddar potato cake. The food tasted so fresh and delicious! The crab and shrimp cakes had so much flavour to them and were way larger than I would have expected given the high quality of them! Looking forward to going back soon!
Upon entering, we noticed a captivating elderly woman seated at a booth, exquisitely adorned with makeup and well-styled hair, sporting star-shaped sunglasses even at 9am. This immediately reassured us that we had chosen the right place. The ambiance was delightful, featuring a combination of soothing jazz music, art deco accents, and captivating local artwork. The oat milk latte unquestionably earned a five-star rating. Their coffee offerings were exclusively espresso-based, with no option for drip coffee. The service provided was impeccable, leaving no room for complaint. Despite the tantalizing descriptions on the menu and the anticipation generated by the impressive build-up, I must confess my heightened excitement for the main course was slightly let down. Opting for the Butternut Crunch Eggs Benedict, I was taken aback by its presentation upon arrival. While visually intriguing, the flavor failed to live up to my expectations. The dish turned out to be excessively spicy, and its jam-like consistency overpowered any other potential flavors. Regrettably, it didn't offer the breakfast experience I had anticipated. In a parallel experience, my mother ordered the chickpea omelette, an unfortunate choice that was visually unappealing and failed to even warrant a photograph. The omelette was notably dry and lacking in flavor. Despite the establishment's fantastic vibes, the food needs work.
One of the tastiest breakfasts in Saskatoon
The food is amazing and so are the lattes. Great service too. I have been twice recently and both experiences were equally great.
Tasty meal. Really liked the bacon wrapped maple pecan.
My favourite breakfast place of all time. Classic eggs Benny and Bacon roll ups are a must.
Nice , clean and friendly atmosphere
Pretty decent breakfast and gluten free options for my wife. The poached eggs had VERY pale yolks and were somewhat tasteless but the hash browns and toast were quite good. Honestly we prefer OEB for selection and flavor.
Great good and atmosphere.
Crazy busy place. Small intimate Wheelchair accessibility: Not super accessible. Multi levels, narrow aisles. Very old building Food : 5/5 |
Great food and people Highly recommend!
Outstanding meals always. Great for brunch dates!
This is an excellent place for breakfast or brunch. The food is amazing, a comfortable environment and the service fantastic
My friend brought me to this little place and I was pleasantly surprised. Food came out and everything was delicious, service was friendly and fast, food was not greasy. Definitely recommend it when in Saskatoon.
Great food, great service!!
Very bad customer service
For a place I normally enjoy so much, todays visit was very disappointing. The drinks were good, but it took over 20 minutes from the time we sat down for the server to come back so we could order food. After ordering, it took nearly an hour for our food to come out and most of the food was cold. We were clear when ordering that one of our meals had a regular poached egg and the other had a hard poached egg, and the eggs came reversed. The server did not check on us until we were almost done eating and I let the server know about the issues when we were finally checked on. The drinks were taken off of our bill and they offered to bring us replacement eggs, but we were already done eating for some time so we declined. Even more disappointing is that the table next to us was seated after us, the server took their drink and food order first, their meals came at least 15 minutes before ours, and the server was very attentive to their table while we were ignored for the majority of our visit.
The worst service Ive experienced in a very long time. 90 minutes for our food to come. Eggs on 3 orders hard, we ordered soft-medium. Ignored by our waiter as he was embarrassed. Wont be back, ever!
Amazing ... Food was amazing .. the location is nice, highly recommended !
Best place.
Pouched eggs and the vibe!!!
Food was excellent, but service was really slow. Waited more than 45 minutes after ordering to get our meal. We finished our latte and cappuccino before our food arrived.
Best place for breakfast
I m a 40 year old guy who knows very little about cooking. One thing I do is poach eggs. I share lots and I ve (in my mind) created some interesting breakfast dishes. I had a night in Saskatoon and had to try this place out. The menu is a collection of art - so many appealing concoctions that as I read more it gets harder to pick. My logic chose the omelette. From the Mecca of poached eggs. Oh well it was excellent Wonderful staff and furnishings with the wood and hanging plants
When we went it was extremely busy. People lined up to get inside. The servers however did amazing at making us still feel at home. Kept our drinks full. The food took an extremely long time coming but it was to be expected given how crazy things were. Did not disappoint and would go back in a heartbeat. I wish it was a little bit more vegetarian friendly, but we were able to make it work.
We just had breakfast here for the first time. The service was excellent and the food was very good. The place is not very big but is cozy, so get there early.
Great breakfast place if you want the best eggs Benedict Saskatoon has to offer!
Very friendly staff, cozy place. We had a hearty breakfast and good coffee!
$70 for 2 to have breakfast food for taste was blained and it took forever to get service even for refills.
Tall server from Europe is an amazing person. Helped us to choose food and drinks. Good customer service.
Love it here! Cool vibe great food.
First time visiting Poached. Went for a breakfast around 10:30am during a weekday and it was quiet and casual. Staff is kind and considerate, occasionally checking in to see how we liked the food or needed anything. Ordered a classic Eggs Benedict, cappuccino and a Chai latte. All very great in taste! Ive ordered Eggs Benedict at other restaurants and this one was by far the best!
Cute atmosphere. Wouldn t bring kids here tbh. Got the turkey panini and a summer salad for $20. It was delish especially with the nice spread of pesto! Hubby got the eggs Benny and said it was delish but not worth the cost considering how tiny the bowl is.
Went for mothers day and my husband and I can t stop thinking about the food! It was so good! I loved my baileys French toast and bacon pecan roll ups! We had left home with the intention of going to OEB but found ourselves at 84 on the waiting list! We were able to just walk right in to Poached and had the best time ever! We can t wait to go back! I really hope they find a new location tho because it s super tiny and narrow inside, but the amazing food and cute decor made up for that! Definitely check it out if you re looking for a chic brunch location, the prices are also pretty good!
Always great customer service and the food is always top notch! Our favorite place to eat breakfast and lunch!
Such a cool spot with a brilliant atmosphere! The service was great and the food was amazing!! Dietary restrictions: Plenty of gluten free options
I cannot say enough good things about our visit here today! The service was amazing, food superb, drinks were top notch and atmosphere was one of a kind! Will definitely be back!
Lovely breakfasts. Wonderful service.
Delicious food and great service. 10/10
Very nice bistro. I dont mind paying top dollar for a high quality experience. The quality of the food did not reflect the price. Also the portion size was very small. My wife and i arent big portion eaters and we left feeling hungry. The service was alow and the waitress didnt take our drink order. We were ready to order our meals by the time our drink order was taken.
Amazing ...one of the best Eggs Benny I have had in a long time. Food was amazing .. the location is so unique in side railcar boxcars - redesigned. Only disappointment for was that there was no drip coffee.
Every single trip to the city I make sure to stop in for breakfast. Everything on the menu is great but my usual is the traditional bennies. Everything about this place is why I keep going, good vibes!
Bring back the cinnamon bun French toast
Love it. Funky little place with delicious, eclectic brunch foods.
Although we wait almost a hour to get the food which looks too much, food and coffee were so delicious and amazing.
Such an amazing experience. Cant wait to go back. I do recommend the fruit salad item beside the poached plates.
Really friendly and welcoming staff and a nice room are the plusses. Pros quickly end here, but I have to commend the kitchen and servers for doing an excellent job. The vegan options lacked and came with pretty steep upcharges, and were mediocre, but I realise vegan food is not the focus. Nonetheless, it was underwhelming and overpriced, as a chef myself I fully understand what goes into the labour and costing of these items and it feels like punishment just for being vegan. Vegan food is cheaper, especially when you make it in house like the chickpea omelette. The room is very loud despite soundproofing, probably due to the long narrow shape. I also found it very chilly inside. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options abound, since veggies can eat eggs. Options drop dramatically if you are vegan or GF unless you pay steep upcharges. Dietary restrictions: Obviously not a focus at this restaurant and more of an afterthough. Kid-friendliness: We didnt bring kids, but I wouldnt recommend it. When we went there was a large table of extremely loud dudebros out for brunch. To us, it felt like they had just kept the party going from the night before.
Not good in the coffee department cold, slow, cream was spoiled.
I haven t been to Poached in too long. I returned to my old go-to: fresh-squeezed orange juice and the poached eggs over shrimp and crab cakes. So good! And the interior is so cool.
I love this cute little spot. Been quite a few times and sometimes it s crazy busy and the food takes awhile but I think the wait is totally worth it. I ve always had super nice servers and the food is top quality every time. Thank you Poached you are all awesome !
Fantastic breakfast!
Such delicious food!
We dined here on a Saturday at 11a and were pleasantly surprised that there was availability. I had an oat milk latte and the garlic and sherry mushroom sauté with Brie omelette. My latte was creamy and without sweetness the way I like it and the omelette had more egg white and less strong Brie aroma which I prefer, too. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. I ll definitely be back.
Service is slow, but the food is so good makes it all worth it.
Loved the environment. Every breakfast place I go to, I try the eggs Benedict. 10/10 best one yet!
So good! Perfect in so many ways. Loved it.
I m not a foody or a breakfast guy, but this place makes the most unreal breakfast I ve ever had. Highly recommended
Best meal Ive had in ages!! I was walking and saw it so went in(10am), got seated for just myself right away. They have a curtain after you walk in, probably to keep the cold out. If you sit at the 2 person table right by this curtain, just be prepared for people not staying behind it(waiting to be seated) and very much in your space. Not the businesss fault. I ordered a cappuccino (was too hot, needed to wait 10 minutes to drink it), Poached over cheddar baked hashbrowns, half order with feta and spinach chicken sausage, and Potato croquettes. Omg - this was one of the best breakfast meals I have ever eaten. The cheddar baked hashbrown was out of this world in texture and flavor!! Server was so amazing! Tables turn quick here too. Will definitely go back!!
Probably my favourite brunch spot in Saskatoon. Always so good!
Best breakfast around. I travel a lot for work and have eaten at all sorts of diners and expensive restaurants. I was blown away by the breakfast this morning. The atmosphere is amazing, service was fantastic and the quality of the food was absolutely amazing. I d give this place a 6 star review if I could. Order extra potato croquettes!
Just an amazing restaurant, food is incredible. A must try place if you are ever in downtown Saskatoon
Wont be visiting again. Paid $90 to be treated like unwanted trash. The staff clearly has problems with their own prejudices and I was not at all happy with how we were treated. My husband and I were visiting SK last month, after a long absence overseas. My husband is from the far north region of SK. We ran into a friend (also from the far north region of SK) downtown as we were going for breakfast, so we invited him to join. After ordering, the waitress continously kept checking up, slightly condescending tone. Then the manager came by to check on us also. Our friend went out for a smoke, and the manager came by again and asked where our friend went, and would he be coming back? After paying, I said thank you, have a nice day to the manager who didnt even reply back at all, you could almost hear the relief in his breath as we left. We have spent our lives travelling the world, to dozens of different countries, and we are never treated this way. Its always good ole SK where these attitudes and assumptions surface. Like, seriously, do they really have a problem with dine-n-dash? I doubt it. But yet we were treated as suspects while paying nearly $100 for 3 fancy lil posh breakfasts. Take your money elsewhere. If your appearance fits what the staff find acceptable, you may not experience this.
We had a great breakfast experience there this morning. The food was amazing and Livia was a fabulous server. Will go back again on our next visit to Saskatoon.
Would definitely return to Poached! The atmosphere, service and food were amazing!! Enjoyed my Mother s Day there and have already planned a trip back with friends who haven t been!!
May 2023 5*
Atmosphere: playful music, clean and attractive place, comfortable seats Service: friendly and professional staff Food: fresh and tasty Thank you!! Recommended dishes Eggless Omelette, The Berry Bowl of Oatmeal
My family and I had breakfast here last Sunday; the atmosphere and food made our day start off just perfect. The food was made perfectly and was the right amount to leave satisfied. The meal was fresh, healthy and well plated. My son loved the croquettes .
Excellent food, nice little restaurant, little small, could do without the jazz music but its part of the vibe.
We enjoyed Poached so much that we had breakfast there twice during our 5 day visit to Saskatoon. Its a quaint little bistro with delicious food and terrific staff. We were amazed how friendly and efficient all the staff were even though it seems they never stop running.
Its a nove place to go, but I set 4 stars only because I went for breakfast and for a breakfast its pricey.
Good surroundings. Good vegan food. Nice background music.
Quirky little breakfast place - really great food and service.
Tasty, chill, and friendly. Great place to grab brunch. The hash browns were amazing.
Very cool vibe, friendly service and fantastic breakfast.
Awesome food, eggcellent place!
Excellent food! Brutal service. After many visits over the years, the food continues to be delicious- unfortunately the service is as reliably not great. Highly recommend the pecan bacon wraps! Appreciative of the gluten free and veg options. The cinnamon cream cheese & tomato salad are both missed from old menu offerings. Especially for a quiet Thursday morning, it felt like we were an annoyance to our server. Service felt abrupt & utilitarian, not friendly or welcoming and it took a dedicated effort to get their attention to order more. When we had a simple question about menu items, the servers response cut us off and was harsh- it was hard not to feel like we were an inconvenience even though we were an easy going bunch wanting to spend well. We had a great brunch experience despite the service, which is unfortunate. Some basic warmth & attentiveness to guests would go a long way! Well probably be back, but solely for the food. Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian dishes available (eggs benny), omelets, a large carte etc. Dietary restrictions: There are several modifications available for gluten free folks (gf English muffins) but unfortunately neither the potato croquettes or hashbrowns are gluten free. Be advised that there is a hefty $3.30 charge for gluten free English muffins- includes cream cheese or PB if ordering on the side, but the same charge exists either for sub in a full or half Benedict (quite disappointed in half an English muffin for $3.30 when ordering the 1/2 benny...
The breakfast (Ive been there 3 times now) has always been very, very good, the staff is very friendly and patient, even with language differences they remain friendly and kind, the food is perfect, its worth recommending
Cute little breakfast place. Smaller portions and a bit pricey, but delicious. Would likely visit again.
Hidden gem! Small and cozy. Best breakfast in the city.
Another delicious breakfast this morning! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options are good Food : 5/5 |
Saturday 10 am, had to wait 25 mins to get a table, but it was worth it. Star dish: poached eggs on crabb and shrimp cake worth every penny, delicious!
We had brunch at Poached yesterday. It is not what it once was (pre-Covid). Ambience is nice, jazz music, nice decor, tables were clean. The service was not personable and felt transactional and unresponsive. No prompt for refills for water (at all), brought us the bill without asking if we wanted anything else immediately after clearing plates and then showed up with the machine for us to pay it, again without asking. The food was mixed. Crapcake with poached eggs and the fresh salad were great! Fresh OJ was also tasty. The rye toast / bread seemed like it was bought at Sobey s and the PB/Jam seemed out of Kraft jar. It s a small detail but better bread and spreads add to the experience imho. Overall I feel there are better options in the city and this experience probably won t lead us to go back to Poached which is unfortunate because we used to love it there.
I ordered the classic and it tastes amazing, I recommend it ! The orange juice is too small but it tastes good. The place is beautiful, music is good.
Probably the best breakfast place in Saskatoon. Detailed approach to breakfast classics and the flavours are truly stellar. The restaurant is small and crammed and the service is a little slow but it s all worth it for the passion and flavours in the food. I will keep going back.
Great little brunch spot. Nice decor that is great for a first date, a Sunday brunch, or taking a business contact too. Food is delicious - we had a number of dishes but the highlight would be the Stacked plate and the house salad.
Great times to be had here! Breakfast and brunch must-see in downtown Saskatoon. Vegan omelette options and variety of options for folks with allergies. Super cute bar space and railroad style building!
Went here for the first time. There was a wait of about 10 mins. There is a lot of seating inside. We ordered lattes, one with oat milk and one chai, both were delicious. I ordered a half benny and crab and fish risoto cake. The benny was just right. A nice piece of ham and not too much sauce, the risoto cake was tasty with a crunchy coating on the outside. It was quite filling. My friend ordered the rice and fish risotto also with a half order of the cheesy hash. The risotto was placed on top of the hash. Also very tasty. At times it was difficult hear each other so conversation was limited. There is backgroimd music playing and a lot of chatter. It is quite noisy and it was busy. That being said we will be back. Great food reasonable priced.
Food was amazing, service was not.
Great spot for family breakfast. Everyone was happy
The wait staff here are pleasant and quick. The food and drink is very good; I had a 1/2 traditional with a side crab cake. The crab cake is perfection and I will return again just for them!
High quality cheffy menu at an affordable price. Great service and a unique atmosphere.
Crab and shrimp eggs Bennie was sooo good
I would give this place a 90% but unfortunately google only allows 4/5. But it wasnt perfect so I cant give it a 5. Was actually really impressed with this place. At first take when I received my food it looked a little boring and the plate felt a bit empty but honestly it was less flash and more flavour! Which is what a person wants! The eggs Benny was really tasty, I believe it had back bacon on it and was cooked very well. Still had a nice chewable texture but wasnt too hard to cut through to get a nice portion of eggs, bread and meat all in one bite. The hashbrowns or potatoes as the side were absolutely delicious. Again, first glance it looked a bit strange how it was formed and place on the plate, but after the first bite I couldnt stop eating them! I will say I wasnt stuffed when I left, it was a good portion but Im a big eater and could have potentially had a side with my meal. Also the place in the front is quite small so I could see it being busy if you go on the weekends. Either way, really great food and the service was awesome! Vegetarian options: There were quite a few options
Food was excellent with fresh quality ingredients. Great atmosphere in a good location. Would recommend to anyone visiting Saskatoon or anyone who lives in town.
I ve been to many brunch places in Saskatoon and this one really impressed me. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was perfect for a relaxed but classy morning. I highly recommend checking this place out.
So good! Had the crab cake eggs benny and the elderberry mimosa. Definitely will be coming back!
We had the best experience here! We had a bit of a wait which is understandable because the food here is fantastic! The orange juice was the best I ve ever had, and they have delicious lattes.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere, although a little pricey for breakfast, for me personally. Will be a treat once and a while.
This place came recommended from a friend and it was great stop for brunch. I had the butternut crunch benedict. Food was tasty though the plate garnish / side was a bit small for the plate used. Also added some rye toast with their peanut butter, The service was superb, they knew how to read the table and added the right number of table touches without being intrusive, a very hard balance to achieve.
Literal top tier brunch place.
My husband and i went for breakfast. We both ordered bennies. I had the butternut squash one. So delicious! I m going to dream of it. My husband got the classic, it was also very good. When we figured out it didn t come with anything, we ordered a side of the potato/hash. It cost 8.75 and was so tiny. Wouldn t recommend that. Service was good, didn t take long for the food and mine was delicious which is why this place gets 5 stars. My husband was not happy on the other hand, not the hungry man diner experience he enjoys. I d go back in a heartbeat but with other foodies.
I searched for restaurants on Google maps that have gluten-free food and this came up, so I went out of my way to try it out as the reviews were good. The atmosphere is almost 5-star. They definitely put most of their money towards that which is nice. You can read the reviews of others and look at the photos regarding this. The service was good. They were very friendly, quick, smiled, but did not know much at all about whether the dishes were gluten free and had to go ask a few times. Educate yourself and staff even if you cant provide a gluten-free menu, gluten allergies are becoming more and more common, unfortunately. The matcha latte was made beautifully, but did not taste good as the restaurant chose to buy low quality matcha to serve their customers at what seems like a fancy place. Starbucks offers low-grade matcha and sells it for 6-9 dollars. I expected it to be much better, since I was paying $7 for this one. If someone doesnt have a clue about what matcha should taste like, they might think it was fine and just want more sugar to cover the taste and be happy with the latte art(it was a heart and nicely done, by the way). The butternut squash eggs Benedict was a bit too spicy, but okay. The gluten-free English muffins were hard to cut with the butter knife. They were the cheap brand glutenfree muffins (possibly Udis?)with poor ingredients(corn and white rice flour). I honestly am not sure if the dish was gluten-free. They said it was and that they use gluten-free hollandaise sauce which was exciting for me to try. Well, I have not had bloating and such discomfort after a meal like this in years and can normally tolerate a little gluten. The fatigue, gastrointestinal distress and lethargy that followed was not fun. Perhaps, there was gluten in the spicy butternut squash mixture and or the hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise sauce is almost white? Normally, real hollandaise sauce is a rich orange yellow... I asked if they use farm eggs and they said no, but their eggs are from Saskatchewan...so they use eggs from the grocery store. Why would a place like this not decide to source their eggs from a local farm which would offer a nutritionally better egg, I dont know. I know the restaurant business has been tough these last few years, but offering cheap quality food for such a ridiculous price is insulting. I paid $17 for the squash eggs dish plus $3.30 for the gluten-free English muffin, $7 for the matcha latte of which I only drank half. I explained to the waiter that it was not good, that it was made wonderfully, but with poor quality matcha. I then ordered a single-shot latte for another $6 and that was actually delicious, the coffee. My total was $36 and change. I paid cash and still left a tip ($13) as I like to try to be a blessing to the people who served me regardless of food quality or service quality. People are more important than my likes and dislikes or offenses. Plus the $3 I paid for parking...this was not a great experience and was way over priced! *To help, if the owner is reading this.... Try DoMatcha Ceremonial Grade or Aiya Ceremonial Grade Matcha if you would like to give your customers the best OR charge maybe $2.50 to $3 for your current matcha latte...to cover the cost of the milk. Try ordering gluten-free items from Alkeme and just keep them in the freezer. The country sourdough loaf comes pre-sliced and I would be happy with a toasted slice of that under the eggs Benedict. And its got good-for-you ingredients that tastes delicious. They ship by Purolator all over Canada out of Quebec. Try using real butter. (Preferably from grass-fed cows, but butter is always best). Try sourcing your eggs from a few local farms to get much better eggs both nutritionally and taste-wise. Why not? You seem to care about the quality of how things look, care more about the quality of the food too that goes into peoples bellies. Quality is important. My money and time is important too. Still recovering..but I would return for a coffee date. Thank you for taking the time to read this! Dietary restrictions: Please see my review regarding gluten allergies.
The food was absolutely, positively, excellent. I had the Eggs Benedict over crab cakes. My goodness was the hollandaise superb! Perhaps the best version of Eggs Benedict Ive ever had. The only concern was that my coffee was never refilled. I shared a meal with my friend who suggested the joint and Im glad he did.
They have good food, but very small portions for the price. At least I can say I tried it.
The best breakfast place in Saskatoon. The maple pecan bacon roll ups are a must have.
Definitely get the peanut butter hot chocolate!! Everything was delicious but it was quite noisy.
Always amazing food. Stellar staff. Cant recommend Poached enough!!!
Fantastic breakfast and nice place with great service. Would highly recommend.
Great place for breakfast. It was quite busy the day we went, they took our number and called back once it was available. Very friendly service and great breakfast place. I suppose you can go for brunch as well. We ordered butternut crunch, Bailey s banana bread french toast and peanut butter hot chocolate; delicious and definitely worth trying.
Absolutely lovely breakfast spot. Fantastic food and coffee with great service.
Such a great experience! Great space, food portions were perfect with lots of selection. Went for brunch and Jenny was the most amazing server who made our experience a complete 10/10. Highly recommend.
This might be one of my new favorite breakfast spots in town! They make a scrumptious Eggs Benedict and their Matcha Latte, well.....bring me another please
Went in around noon on a Saturday, was able to get seated within 10 mins. Got the French toast and it was very good.
CELIAC / GLUTEN FREE WARNING: Their hashbrowns have a flour coating on them to make them more crispy I loved the breakfast I got, a delicious poached egg set, the gf english muffin was great. I informed the server that a lot of gf and celiac folks find breakfast safe because most items do not contain wheat and covering your potatoes in flour eliminates an important breakfast staple. She understood and said the kitchen welcomes feedback. My creme brule latte was amazing and I got a peanut butter hot chocolate to go and it was superb. I definitely would love to come back so I hope the hashbrown recipe gets changed. Try potato starch or rice flour!
All my brunch dreams under one roof. And all the alternative milk options Ive ever wanted. Everything was absolutely delicious. But a warning for the GF crowd, the hashbrowns have gluten.
Delicious! I ordered the classic eggs Benny with a side of creamy hash brown cakes. It took an exceptionally long time (almost an hour, that I had to replenish parking) to get our food though for something that more than half the room was probably ordering the same thing that they d be just cooking and flying out the door (ie. eggs Benedict). Always super busy so try to go before 1030 to get a table without waiting.
The food was unique and scrumptious. I had the buttercrunch Benedict. The server was so sweet and very helpful. Perfect experience.
So my university aged daughter drags me here one morning when i happen to be in Saskatoon. Dad, you have to try their Eggs Benedict. Its really good, she tells me. But what does a young adult really know about food, eh? Well, in this case she was right. It was the best eggs benny in years. So we sipped our lattes, dinning on waffles and eggs. Dad, she says, this is kinda like we are in Paris. She was right again. Thank you Poached Breakfast Bistro for giving me a memorable morning with my daughter.
This is my go to spot for breakfast. I always get the creamy veggies eggs benny or poached eggs on hashbrown. The service is quick during weekdays and if you plan on going during weekends, you have to go earlier. Amazing servers too. :)
WOW!!! The ambiance is perfect. The food was amazing. Perfect hollandaise! I wish you were in Edmonton. Id go all the time.
Was not sure what to expect , but was way over the top with visuals and taste, eggs were cooked perfect, whole meal actually had flavor, did not need salt n pepper...even little beet garnish was special....a true hidden gem in Stoon.
The best Breakfast Bistro Ive been to in Saskatoon!
The food is what makes this place shine.
Overall good, but with some flaws. First, I ordered The Stacker, and by its name and description, I expected something more substantial than what I received. The stack was more like a small mound, and there wasnt much food. It also came with 4 slices of bread which I felt was unnecessary, and simply a way to fill you up without giving you much substance. The food itself tasted pretty good, but nothing particularly interesting. Secondly, we had a relatively large group which they were nice enough to accommodate. However, since many of us ordered the same thing, the waitress was very rude when I tried to verify with her if she was giving me my order (I asked for an extra runny yoke on my poached egg, but other people ordered theirs medium). She insisted the one she brought out was mine, but lo and behold, I cut into the poached egg and the yolk is cooked all the way through. I dont know why she was being so unnecessarily stubborn. Credit where credit is due, the interior design is excellent.
Overrated.
Great service, neat atmosphere and the absolute BEST eggs benedict! Yum!
Keep in mind that Saskatoon has a Dennys with a 4.5 star rating on Google. Why do I mention Dennys? Because the food at Poached Breakfast Bistro is the same caliber. The fresh flowers on the table wont make up for the lukewarm farmers sausage. Ive foolishly tried this restaurant a half-dozen times over the past few years and it always manages to set the bar lower.
Rude staff, didnt think it was worth it to serve 2 people on a slow afternoon. First they said the kitchen closed at 2pm. When told that it wasnt 2pm yet, someone else came up and changed the time, saying the kitchen closes at 130pm. Very rude tone and attitude, poorly handled. Pretentious staff.
Amazing customer service .The breakfast that we had was super fresh and delicious!
Great cozy brunch spot. 2021 Update: Food quality seems to have dropped quite a bit in the last few years. Feels stingy and presented less thoughtfully.
Best breakfast experience in Saskatoon. Relaxed but efficient atmosphere, classical jazzy music. Excellent coffee. Interesting menu...crab cakes & eggs perfect! Socially skilled servers. This is not Dennys or McDonalds.
They did a great job accommodating me in a wheelchair, food and coffee was great, will be coming back
Best brunch in Stoon, great coffee, super clean and tidy, service cant be beat. All the girls are friendly as can be. Busy place and staff is doing a good job keeping up during this current labour shortage.
Waited for 30 mins just to get a table, waited over an hour for food afterwards, we weren t warned of the time and no compensation for the wait was offered. The food was good but portions were small for the price.
Wonderful brunch with attentive staff.
Love poached, if only the food didn t take so long then it would be perfect. I go every time I m in town. The eggs Benedict/poached eggs and French toast are delicious, even the pricy hot chocolate is great.
Amazing breakfast, the dill cream cheese is so amazing.
What a beautiful surprise in downtown Saskatoon. One of the best eggs benedict Ive ever had! The restaurant atmosphere is very chic. The time I was there they were very busy so staff were a little overwhelmed, but that hardly made a dent in my experience!
I went to poached to try the best eggs Benedict in Saskatoon and was not disappointed. Absolutely delicious, great service and wonderful friendly staff. Poached has just become my favourite breakfast spot, and I now look forward to trying dinner at their restaurant FLINT too.
Seriously delicious! How to describe?...Its tried and true breakfast favourites--but elevated, without being pretentious. (: I would definitely recommend!!
Super yummy!!! Love the butternut crunch eggs Benedict with maple bacon roll ups and crab cakes with fresh squeezed orange juice
Had the classic eggs benny and it was done perfectly.
Wow. First, late kitchen on Saturday. Actually ordered after 11. 2nd, food was flavourful, complex, healthy, delicious. Portions were generous. Both the b uf bourguignon and the espresso stout stew. My green side salad was - never mind side. How about real a mango dressed mixed greens with real chunks of n angoissa, goat cheese, beets, and a house dressing. If only side salads were this much fun! Oh yeah, and the staff were super - with service, attitude, attention to detail all the while doing the perfect dance with being present yet not hovering Thank you Saskatoon for this treasure
One of a kind breakfast Bistro!
The food was very good, but a little pricey for a family of 4. We ordered the French toast, classic eggs Benedict, Poached over Crab & Shrimp Risotto Cakes (highly recommend this unique dish), The Breakfast Plate with bacon wrapped pecans. If going with kids, make sure they re not going on a very empty stomach and have some activities for them to avoid hangry meltdowns like mine do :) There was a bit of a wait for a table and for the food but it was nice to see a local business be so busy downtown during the long weekend! Also, if you have mobility issues, be cautious, as the bathrooms are downstairs. Unfortunately they were already out of fresh squeeze orange juice (we were there at noon). Be aware that there are 2 sizes of Americanos, single and double. The menu only shows the price and choice of a single order, so when we ordered we assumed it was the one size. In addition, my husband ordered a refill (which there is an additional charge as indicated on the menu) and was not asked if he wanted a single or a double. We were not aware that we were served/charged doubles until we got our bill at the end. When I mentioned it to the waitress she said that since most people ordered the double that they just assume that s what everyone wants. Which is fine, but I think the menu needs to be updated to reflect the same or give the customer the option to decide if they want a single or a double, I m pretty sure my husband would have been fine with a single refill vs a double refill.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options clearly labeled on the menu.
I have mixed feelings about this place, hence the middling rating. On the one hand, their food is delicious and inventive, especially their Benny type dishes, as the name would suggest. I also like the vibe of the place, like one those hip but tiny New York eateries. But there are other things that annoy me. There are certain things you expect at a breakfast place which this place, either for hippy reasons or frugal ones, doesnt do. Things like putting cream, sugar and jams on the table ahead of time, instead of having to specially request them as you do here. You also cant just order a regular coffee; they only serve overpriced specialty coffees. Even at that, the staff got a simple beverage order totally confused. I ordered an Americano with cream and sugar and a glass of milk. I got a black Americano, no sugar and a side of milk in a creamer jug. Last but not least theres the wait. Long long wait for a regular old plate of bacon and eggs. Dont go here if youre already feeling hungry because youll starve before the food comes out. So, yeah, a cool place but maybe too cool for its own good. Needs more focus on the basics. ADDENDUM: In their subsequent response to my review, the owners attempt to make some excuses, some of which are valid and others not. It is scarcely surprising that Saturday at 11 is one of their busiest times, considering that they are exclusively a brunch establishment. If a brunch place cant handle a brunch rush, there is something wrong with their business model. Priding themselves on reputable, crafted coffees does not preclude them from offering a regular coffee. Many such upscale coffee places make a big deal about using only organic, ethically sourced beans or whatnot, but they still offer regular coffee. Not wishing to clutter the tables with condiments and wishing to use fresh jams are valid policies but that would require better flow to avoid customer inconveniencce. I had to ask twice for cream. Instead of asking about jams when the meal arrives and then making the customer wait several minutes to receive it, ask about this at time of order and serve the jam on the side when the meal comes out.
Great brunch menu. Everything was fresh and tasty. Coffee was very good, mimosa was as well. Try the potato croquettes!!!
We went to Poached for lunch today and had to sat and waited for over an hour to have our food served. My friends daughter was so hungry to the point she cried. The two other tables beside us were also waiting since we arrived, and had to leave without eating anything because they had flights to catch. There was obviously something going on in the kitchen that they were not able to manage provide food or service on time, but no one cared to check in with us or explain whats going on. My friend ordered coffee and didnt get a refill until we asked for it twice. Will not recommend this place.
Been told had a unexpected rush today caused we had to wait over 1 hour until to have the food. The food portion is small than previous, won t come back
Love their Bennys! Limited seating so make sure youre early. The service is always good.
Great service, nice atmosphere, great food. The staff were super friendly and went our of their way to be helpful. Went back for breakfast several times during our stay. Especially liked the poached eggs served with crab and shrimp risotto balls --- mmm!
Food is quite good if youre willing to wait a very long time (at least 25 mins in my experience). I hope they can speed things up in the kitchen.
We found this gem by chance and will be back. The entrance is unassuming and leads to a charming dining experience that is focused on the palat. Flavor abounds and there are really no bad choices. Service was outstanding.
Best place for breakfast! Meals are spectacular! Their breakfast plate can only be made better by also ordering a pitcher of their fresh-squeezed orange juice. Prices are a bit high, but worth it.
We were really looking forward to dining here. Server seated us promptly as we arrived shortly after 10.am. We had our orders taken and coffee was brought out. Some other customers were arriving and it got busy. We waited and waited. After three tables of customers(who all arrived after us) were brought their meals we made our way to pay for the coffee and leave. The manager showed us our order and said our order had only been placed 18 minutes ago. We left at 11.39 without having to pay for our coffee and feeling hangry. I cannot say what the food tastes like....it looked good from other customers tables. Good service means actually getting food. Our order got lost.
Amazing service, food and atmosphere every time!
If I could give this restaurant 6 stars I would. The Eggs Benedict FANTASTIC. Pecan bacon wraps WOW. The atmosphere AMAZING. If you re visiting Saskatoon, it s a must try and if you live here in Saskatoon lucky you!
Those maple bacon rollups are . Went with a group of coworkers when I was in town. I had the Elderflower, Grapefruit, Prosecco drink (delicious) and the classic breakfast. It doesnt look like a lot of food but it definitely is very filling. The hashbrowns are very different than typical hashbrowns, but were good nonetheless.
Service is always so good, water was wet, salted caramel latté was delicious.
Delicious meal , lots of options, friendly staff
Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free
This picture cost $25. The vibe in there is cool and feels high end. The food was okay. Eggs over cooked. No hash browns for $20?? A $60 breakfast for 2 people. I won t be back.
Had the stacker meal. Breakfast was very well made and tasty. The space is small, but airy and clean. There was a wait time of 20mins on a Sunday morning when I visited, but it was worth the wait.
Tiny eggs, runny hollandaise, grouchy server, ridiculous price! We missed what people see in this place. Dangerous people on street in front on a saturday morning! Never again!
Clean. Chill. Very delicious. Could really use another server. Love this place. Vegetarian options: Some V and GF options. Could use more. Parking: Must pay for downtown parking on the street. Usually can find a spot right out front.
Had a great Sunday brunch experience dining at Poached a couple of weeks ago with my boyfriend. Our server was super friendly and attentive. Both our drinks and meals were delicious. Will definitely be coming back for brunch again. Dietary restrictions: Had gluten free options.
Great breakfast, but missing the small touches like home style jam and farmer sausage.
Must-eat spot for brunch. The quality has stayed top notch for 10 years.
Food was good. Decent portion sizes! The server seemed to be rushing us out as she brought us the bill pretty much as soon as we finished eating. It s a bit expensive but yummy. The London fog was good. For food I had the crab cakes eggs benny & a cheddar hashbrown.
