Paul has a wonderful restaurant as well as great dim sum. We had a great evening celebrating Vera’s many years in China. Peking duck was amazing.
This is an awesome restaurant with delicious food and friendly staff. I am into tea and fresh lobster with many distinct flavours that are so tasty. Although the price is too high, it is worthy. 🥹
I was first time to coming to this place and with friends. The service was bad and rude. We ordered the tea that has insect of the tea pot and bad quality. One of the customer service was horrible. The food taste was terrible and bad quality of food. The owner’s just wanted to change new good quality of the tea and not strict enough about the food quality.
Great restaurant, amazing prices, yummy tasty dishes! We came to try out the dim sum (after being recommended) and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Looked like eveeything was made in house. Was so good, we came back to try their dinner menu. It was also awesome. A wee bit on the salty side, so order white rice to go with your meal instead of fried rice. Haha. Would definitely be back next time we're in town.
We had lunch here today and I just wanted to say they have amazing food and it's affordable! Definitely recommend trying their dimsum menu. I had take outs too just incase 😋
I’ve never had bad anything at this place… However this is the first time We tried the deep fried shrimp & it Will be the Last..!! The shrimp came to the table looking kinda greasy then I tried one & couldn’t finish it, My mother didn’t even try one. When the waitress asked how everything was I said the shrimp doesn’t taste good. She said she would get the manager. He came over to the table and I said it didn’t taste good and he said oh that’s deep fried shrimp and walked away. I’ve Never been to a restaurant where when you complained about something you still had to pay for it or eat it I didn’t eat it, but apparently I had to pay for it. That’ll Never happen Again, although I won’t stop frequenting this restaurant as it’s one of My favourites.
I've been going to Mandarin for the last 15 years and it has always been delicious. I highly recommend their dim sum which they serve a la carte on Saturday and Sunday. I've had dim sum at other restaurants in Saskatoon, and Mandarian's dim sum is the best with lots of options such as steamed beef balls, sticky rice, and steamed dumplings. I have had other dishes from their menu, such as their hot pots, which have also been delicious. The service is top-notch and friendly. Two thumbs up for this restaurant! 👍
First time having dim sum. Was visiting Saskatoon and my party stopped by for the experience. Place filled up quickly as there was barely any empty table. Such a wide variety of meals available, that I couldn’t keep up with eating and taking photos. I liked the steam sausages, shrimp like dumplings and a lot more. Looking forward to my next visit.
The STAR in this restaurant is the food !! Its a typical chinese restaurant, where you get tea on the house! They try to give quick service. Lunch time is the best time to go. They have freshly cooked food available in the carts...dimsums, steamed food, sticky rice, fried food, deserts, etc. The Mandarin Restaurant is the closest you can get to Hong Kong-style food!! Very tasty & prices reasonable. UPDATE. We went for early supper. I was craving for soup, since the weather dipped to -19C ! Ordered Beef Brisket Noodle Soup. Delicious! My hubby ordered his favorite Egg Foo Yong with Mushrooms. It will never disappoint you! Hahaha - we cleaned our dishes & were just laughing! What a really nice supper!! Highly recommend!! Sorry we forgot to take pics. UPDATE. (Dec 17, 2024) I ordered Steamed Pork Dumplings, Steamed Pork Dimsum, Sesame Balls, for desert. Food is always good here! Service is good too!
Always good food!! The only place Ill go for dim sum in Saskatoon! Staff are always friendly and provide fantastic service. I will forever recommend them to anyone!!
It s a surprise to find this gem after almost 4 years living in Saskatoon, very authentic Cantonese dim sum restaurant.
This restaurant is a Saskatoon tradition! Food is very good. Dim sum is a nice option on the weekend. Highly recommend!
Food was amazing, decor is dated but adds to the venue.
Great Dim Sum on Saturdays and Sundays
Love the beef tendon. The best in Saskatoon. Always good food.
Really good food, good service. The hair in the vegetables was also a nice touch
Best dimsum in the city
The atmosphere and staff are very welcoming. Thanks, Paul, for again another great lunch.
Our go to Dim Sum place since I was a kod. My kids love coming.
Never had Dim Sum before, great restaurant to introduce my liking to it though. Walking into the place for the first time was aesthetically pleasing, being the only table in at the time they gave us a window seat, liked this very much. Food was spectacular, some of the greatest Chinese food Ive ever had. The only reason I rated it 4* was because the service was not consistent, with being the only table in the restaurant I would expect a check up every now and then (not annoyingly). Definitely showing this restaurant some love in the near future.
Always great food !!!
I visit this place when I near the place the only problem I can think of I have to drive 250km to get near (oh that s a ME problem ) Parking: Remember your plate number!
just had this on last weekend uncles place all kinds of so good food great dishes to try and enjoy this place is been around for years still makes great food.
Great location for some authentic food, love the atmosphere and yummy food!!!
The deep fried dumplings are crazy
Went for a Chinese new year supper. It was so good and so much food. For a full restaurant everything was hot.. and fresh :)
Best dim sun you have to go there
Me and my family have been going for years, so much that the employees know us, food is amazing, love the atmosphere and overall just an amazing experience
Every time we have family gatherings, holidays, Christmas, birthdays, etc, we always get their roastted duck, its the best in saskatoon. Weve tried many here in saskatoon, but they dont compare with the taste and the price youre getting. Its also a pleasure to come and dine in every time. Weve been coming here for more than 10 years, and theyve always been consistent with the quality of their food. The place might look old and rundown, but trust me that its always clean and their kitchen are always spotless. I appreciate it so much coming from a family with really sensitive stomachs that gets sick with just a little problem with the food, weve never had any problems with the cleanliness and quality. This restaurant has been here for 30+ years, and its going strong, and theres a reason why. We always bring friends from outside the city to come and eat here and they are never disappointed. This is a family favourite and our favourite orders from them are their dimsums, bbq duck, the braised duck with all meat or sea cucumber, fukchow fried rice, the 3-course peking duck, egg foo young, the sticky rice. The price are also reasonable and their price portion size ratio is very good too!
Very awesome food highly recommend this place.
traditional Chinese restaurant vibes Kid-friendliness: The staff are very friendly to kids. Food : 4/5 |
Delicious food.
Has been our go to place for years always love it
Great food, one of the only remaining Asian restaurants that still have an authentic asian vibe and atmosphere.
This restaurant is located in one of the oldest buildings in Saskatoon. The sizzling hot pot was filled with sizzling deliciousness, the lemon chicken was lemony and scrumptious and the spring rolls were to die for.
The food was exceptional. Highly recommend the crab white fungus soup, be sure to ask for the vinegar. And the long beans, with black bean sauce. I could add more food recommendations, but that would make this a long review. Those two dishes are my top favourites. Service was below par. We waited about 15 to 20 minutes for order to be taken. We watched another table walk out. However, once order was taken, all went well. Cannot wait to go again!!
The food are delicious in Saskatoon.
Best dim sum in the city!
Been coming here for many years and its nice to know the food has been consistent. We enjoy coming here for dim sum and for the most part its great with the food served hot and usually get a table right away. There are some items they dont make enough of like the deep fried pork dumplings and Chinese spring rolls. They always seem to go right away or if you sitting far from the entrance, they are gone by the time you get a chance to have them at your table. Overall great restaurant and will be a consistent customer.
Bought tickets and went here for a banquet. The food was decent for sure, the atmosphere especially. The people were really friendly. Got a 10 course meal. The decor /place could use some renewing but otherwise, still a great place to be with friends and family. Would definitely come back.
Best dim sum in city
The food is nice, and the people are so friendly. I like eating here with my family once in a while.
Dietary restrictions: Staff were knowledgeable and helpful in determining which menu items were gluten-free. Food
Awesome shrimp!! Best in the city!!
When it comes to Dim Sum, this is the experience youd come to expect, its priced fairly and the food taste great!
Best dimsum restaurant in Saskatoon. You might forget your diet plan once you taste their food. Clean and safe to eat. Kids friendly with lots of toddler highchair available to use. Offers Free complimentary tea which they refills through out your meal. Chopsticks or fork you can choose.
Excellent dim sum and service.
The best oriental food in Saskatoon. Definitely a must try.
still has the best fried rice ive ever tried, pairs well with any dish you order.
Ive heard so many good things about the dimsum here but my experience was the opposite of everything Ive heard. The service was prompt and everyone was very friendly. The prices are cheaper than larger city dimsum places and they should be because the quality is not great. Weve given them a few chances and the food quality has never impressed us or improved. Dimsum dishes are often cold or luke warm. Dishes are either too greasy or dried out. I want to support local but this places makes guts hurt more than Taco Bell.
Ordered takeout. No issues. Place looks rough from the outside but it has an authentic feel inside.
Normally i love going here for dimsum. Today is the 1st day weve ever walked out hungry. The pork items they had either tasted of rotten meat or a fermented alcohol tasting, both were not disirable flavors. I ate half of the pork sticky bun left the other 2 1/2 on the table did even bring home for my dog, just didnt trust it. Had the pork dumpling and they were really sour. In the end went to mcDonalds. Hope the next time isnt the same so i dont have to look at other places
Dim sum was quick, fresh and delicious. The restaurant was dated, front entrance made me weary about what to expect, but once I entered the dining area, it was clean and bright and open. The staff was very courteous and frequently asked if we needed anything more. The food was amazing!! Hot!! Fresh!! And full of flavor!!
Always enjoy it.
So delicious! My cousin introduced me to this place and it was a fantastic experience. Friendly staff and delicious food! Highly recommend ;-)
Good food. Decent service. OK atmosphere
Yum dim sum
Mandarin is my favorite dim sum restaurant in Saskatoon. The service is always great, and the prices are very reasonable. Parking: Given the downtown location, I appreciate that they have a parking lot.
Been coming here for 20 years and it is the best Chinese restaurant in Saskatoon! Highly recommend:)
Excellent restaurant with a significant selection of vegetarian options as well. Great prices. Vegetarian options: Decent selection
good dimsum with good price
Old building, great food
I had an excellent experience over here. The staff is quite friendly.
We come here for dim sum. Only place that still has the carts. We love it, all the classics. We recently moved to Saskatoon and it s the only Chinese place we routinely go to for dim sum. The decor and furniture is outdated, but in a blast from the past kinda way. Will continue to eat here.
Awesome food
Went for Dim sum. The food was good the service was ok.
Love coming here for dim sum. They still have the cart service. Lots of choices, so a great selection. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere.
Awesome food dim sum was excellent .the decor is the same but the food is always good.the grandkids enjoyed sharkfin dumplings an chicken s feet Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian opinions
My friends and I go for dim sum on holidays. Its always a good time and we always eat too much. Everyone works hard!
still the best
Food is amazing every time I come here super friendly service and good portions. I ve been coming here since I was very little and it s truly a great authentic Chinese restaurant everyone should defiantly bring their family and friend to give it a try! Foods always fresh and delicious.
Absolutely love this place Ive come here since a kid and the vibes hit just right, little disappointed that they changed the Pork Steamed dumplings a few years ago theyre so small and taste different but other then that I love coming here for Dimsum its great I always come after finals/midterms week with my friends!!
Great place to eat
Overall a bad experience food was awfull not fresh. A group of six people felt ignored. When we ask politely for service and questions pretty much all the staff were checked out and annoyed. Expensive too. So many choices in Saskatoon. We will never go there again or bring friends.
Good food
Food was absolutely delicious we did not have a bad dish.. portions were huge. Staff were friendly and had an awesome sense of humor.. definitely going back
Best dim sum in Saskatoon! Service was fast and friendly. Definitely worth coming back to.
Great food, ready to go for lunch!
Dim sum for dinner! The food was very good, service outstanding! Restaurant was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Do yourself a favor and give it a throw if youve never been
Food and service is great.. Servers are great in what they do plus they are also gorgeous I give 10
Very good! Quick service!
Love this place. Food is wonderful and friendly staff
Love the food !!
Great service! Food was great as always, but definitely time to update that dirty looking, old carpet..
My favorite dim sum place
Great food and service
Our favorite place for dim sum
Great food!
The customer service was good, but the food no, and so expensive. Sorry, but I dont like it.
This, this is a Chinese restaurant worth giving your money to. Everything is well made well cooked and well seasoned. Once you come here you will experience the quality and not really have any desire to go back to the other chinese/Canadian restaurants in this city. Prices are about average to any other Chinese/Canadian restaurant but the quality is Supreme. I will be coming here again and again.
food was bland off the menu would not return unless for dim sum
Love this place been a staple in the area forever brunch is amazing and delivery is also good great service with fat boy portions been going here for over a decade its bomb
Kid-friendliness: I love the Mandarin weve been going there for years never disappointed not once
Best Singapore noodles in town, I come there to order regularly.
Huge fan of the mandarins dimsum on the weekends. Very protein heavy and it is a shrimp lovers dream. The only star lost is due to the very recent price hikes, I have been going here for years and noticed the prices have in fact doubled. Still worth the delicious taste! But any more price hikes and we may be forced to seak out a new dimsum place.
I have been going to the mandarin for what seems to be forever! Paul and his staff know 3 generations of our family and treat us well everytime we are there. Highly recommend the dim sum as well as their items off menu. The lettuce wraps are my fav!
I ordered from here for the first time. I ordered chicken balls, beef and broccoli, and Shanghai noodles. The chicken balls were good, but the sweet and sour sauce wasnt the best Ive had, it tasted ketchup-y. The broccoli in the beef and broccoli was fantastic, my toddler loved it, but the beef itself was rather bland. The noodles, however, were absolutely terrible. They smelled like fish and I took one bite and then literally took the container straight out to the dumpster. This was not a matter of just not liking something, that dish was rancid.
Sunday morning brunch dim sum never disappoints I ve been coming here for years and is always amazing. It isn t the prettiest place but the food and workers make up for it for sure :)
I love the texture of the chicken in all dishes...
Terrible!!!! We ordered takeout, paid $90 plus and the containers we not even full, we got very little chicken balls and only half the container was filled with sweet and sour pork. This is extremely dissapointing.
Best Dim Sum in Saskatchewan!
we go all the time i love it there
Fantastic food & the staff were so kind & obliging. If I could give 10 stars I would!
Expansive menu with some truly incredible options. Large portions and amazing flavours. Plenty of options on the menu capable of challenging how you think about chinese food. Try something new, you likely wont be disappointed.
The food is always yummy, and the service is better than Ive experienced anywhere.
Have been coming here for years, owner and staff are very friendly and food is excellent! If you re going I recommend the deep fried shrimp rolls.
I love the Wong tong soup and the dim sum the dry ribs. Are very good The service is always great
Ordered off the online menu dinner for 5 which was $45.99 got charged 75.00!!!!!!!! Was never offered a receipt and was never told my total over the phone or I would have cancelled right away. Their response was they have a different menu on Facebook... I looked and can t find anything for combination dinners anywhere... they would not acknowledge the menu price posted on THEIR WEBSITE. that said 2021 and wouldn t show me anywhere that said the dinner was 75$ and clearly weren t giving me any money back. Money gauging in covid times? Shame on you.. apparently this has happened to a few people . Will never order from here again food was not worth 75$ .
I really enjoy the food and service here. Authentic and at a great price. Interior could use an update.
Strolled by here on a Saturday at about 1pm and noticed they were serving dim sum. Very fast and attentive service. Was seated and served within less than 5 minutes. Tea service free and very good. Dim sum had all the classics, and my companion remarked how generous they are with protein. Ill be back! Better than Yip Hong.
Tasty dim sum and the owner Paul is awesome!
Good quality chinese food. Good portion too. Fried rice can be better. I find the salt and grease level on a touch higher side in some items. Having said that, I completed my fourth takeout in last six weeks. This place is better than many other Chinese restaurants serving authentic chinese food. I am spoiled by Four Seas in Regina.
Most authentic Chinese food in Saskatoon. You could once a week for a year and youd never run out of dishes to try. Massive menu. Delicious.
As authentic Chinese as it can get! deep fried Dim sums and shrimp rolls were amazing
Best dim sum in town
Absolutely delicious. Would change Absolutely nothing. Nice staff. Delicious food. My favorite restaurant by far.
I never rate a restaurant. Since nothing really blows me away. This restaurant foes however. From cheap and delicious foods. To a nice caring staff. 11/10 by far best restaurant ive been to
my favorite spot for Chinese food
Superb Dim sum at this Saskatoon institution ... one of the oldest authentic Chinese restaurants still operating in Saskatoon. Great food .... fair prices. You wont be disappointed!
Classic Authentic Chinese food. There isnt a bad item on the menu. Great for dim sum or ordering dishes. Very fair prices. They make you feel like family here and I always enjoy the experience.
This is the first review I have ever left. We came in for dim sum at lunch. We arrived at 12:15 Waited for a table in a quarter full restaurant. Waited 10 mins for anyone to get to our table. Ordered the steam buns, Sticky rice and beef ribs. The steam buns came to table 30 mins later. No soya sauce on table. I had to find the soya sauce. 10 mins later they I informed me the were all out of sticky rice. 40 mins later Three orders went out to people that ordered after me. The beef ribs arrived at the table 1 hour after I ordered. Worst service and experience at a restaurant ever. Not a good place to come for lunch.
I enjoyed the different choices. Delicious and nice ambiance
Traditional contest cosine commerce delicious theme song and delicious traditional Chinese dishes
Beautiful Atmosphere and interior design. The environment is impeccable. Ideal for family functions. There are large tables that seat 8 people and there are small tables that seat 4 people. I ordered the House Special Chow Mein, it arrived quickly and was delicious. The staff are very friendly and if you are learning Chinese this is a great place to go to practice your language skills. The menus have both English and Hanzi. The Jasmine tea is very smoothing. Definitely recommend Mandarin Restaurant.
Great food
When I went there, there werent many people and the service was good.
Food in cart was cold
We went as a huge group about 5 years ago, we ordered the full duck and it was incredible, so was the salad bar. This restaurant is still incredible food to this day.
We went there in the middle of the day the food was quite good
I really enjoy the food here. Authentic enough for my tastes. I dont know what its like on regular evenings, but when holding events and banquets the place is packed a bit too tight and food can be a bit slow.
Always the best!
Great for Dim Sum. Fast & tasty, lots of choices
Love the dim sum
We were introduced to Dim Sum here in the spring of 1983 by our friend in Chemistry, Debbie Woo. Back then the Mandarin was a tiny restaurant with 6 or 8 tables. All through the years the food has been fantastic which is why we continue to come back.
Fave spot for dim sum! Their Chicken Fried Rice, Beef Chow Fun and Hot & Sour soup are all delicious!
Chinese New Year dinner. Excellent
Good food, excellent staff
AUTHENTIC, the closest you will get to Chinatown in any major city. You want the carts? The specialty dishes they serve are so amazing, if I could eat here every day I would. Hands down, no other Chinese restaurant compares for authenticity.
Its okay but not famous
Great service, excellent food.
So very good. Thankyou:) Nothing better than good food.
I best dimsum in Saskatoon. No contest. Great service, great quality, and the best prices.
They have very good food. Food is always served hot and fresh.
The food was great. Servers were attentive. The price was good. A very satisfying meal. Thanks to all the staff on hand working Sundays dim sum.
The varieties may not be as much as Yip Hong but the pricing is definitely unbeatable. Probably my only regular visit restaurant in city.
According to their menu a dinner for 3 was 25.95. When I ordered it plus 3 spring rolls it came to 50.95. I think this is the last time I order from them.
Always good food and service. Covid protocols are in place with social distancing. Thank you to Paul and his team!
Always great Chinese food. Covid protocols followed and felt very safe.
Not what it used to be.
