Family owned authentic Mexican restaurant. A great find as most Mexican in Saskatchewan is americanized. They have complimentary homemade chips and salsa to start you off and you don't have to wait long for the food. I would love to see their menu expand to include tamales or empanadas.
As per a reccomendation from a friend, I went to La Bamba Cafe in Saskatoon which was truly an authentic Mexican restaurant! I loved the decor, ambience and overall small cafe like feel to it! Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient! I went with the beef nachos, enchiladas, flautas and a Mexican like version of a creme brulee for dessert! Everything was so fresh, delicious and made in house! The tortilla chips were homemade and tasted excellent! For me, the winner was the enchiladas which I ordered with the chocolate mole sauce! The mole sauce was so incredibly delicious and our server brought us a side of it with tortilla chips so that we could try it out first before ordering it on the enchiladas! Apparently the sauce has over 100 ingredients in it! It was so good that I ordered some to go along with hot sauce which they sell in bottles! Overall, fantastic experience, would highly reccomend for anyone wanting authentic Mexican food and will absolutely be returning!
Absolutely amazing enchiladas from La Bamba in Saskatoon. The one is a green tomatillo sauce, and the other is the mole sauce which is made with chocolate and spices. Both of them were absolutely fantastic. The refried beans were delicious as was the rice. By far the best Mexican food I've had in Saskatchewan.
Favorite place for guacamole and chips in the city, the best I would say! Pretty much everything is gluten free and there is a dedicated gluten free fryer for those who are sensitive. That or - the only items touching the fryer are corn based. I called to ask recently and people who are sensitive are safe here. There are also options to make dishes vegan. I love the guac and chips though and that’s all I come for because I’m hooked! The chips are so crunchy and addictive.
I still am mystified by the popularity of this restaurant among local residents. When we moved here it was one of the restaurants we were recommended most often, so we tried it. We were very underwhelmed. The food was puzzlingly bland and boring. That was over a decade ago. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, a friend wanted to go here for their birthday. Fine, let’s try it again. We felt the same. So bland. Started with the chips and cheese; I don’t care for their homemade tortilla chips. For the main, I had the flautas, which is kind of like a large taquito. It had zero flavour. Same with the beans and rice. Had to search for some hot sauce to give it a kick. Anyways, I don’t get it. My partners also felt the same way about their meal.
Really enjoyed the food here- simple and delicious. Friendly staff. I’ll def come back here again to get my Mexican food fix!
The menu is quite limited and there is a lack of variety when you consider the broad array of Mexican dishes. I get that the kitchen is small and therefore limited. There is passion in the food - which is probably the reason I go back now and again. Great to see a dine-in option again. Great service!
I had an amazing time. Food was good. Especially the service. The employees were so nice. And friendly. They serve mexican beer and cocktails. Their Margherita was The best in town. The location is also good. The only reason I deducted a star is because it's only open 6 days a week but for oy 4 hours- 4 to 8 pm. I get that it's a family business, but it's too short of time to stay open. Some people start dinner at 8! I wish they were open for longer
We ate in it was our first time here the food definitely wasnt fresh as we received our food 5 minutes after ordering. We all got chicken and it tasted like tin chicken. For this reason alone it wouldnt be for me if Im paying for food in a restaurant I dont want to be eating canned chicken. The restaurant itself looked ok just stacks of boxes maybe we came on a delivery day.
Staff are beyond amazing and the food is god tier. This restaurant is everything I could ever ask for. Def recommend the chilaquiles verdes and a lime margarita!

Are here for the first time and I was not disappointed. I tried the enchiladas with both chipotle and verdes sauce. Both selling their own right. The beans and rice were tasty and the serving size of everything was perfect. I also want to mention the service. The staff were friendly and very welcoming. I will be going back without a doubt.

How do people rate this place so highly? Chips were incredibly hard, beans from a can, Chipotle beef quesadilla tasted like nothing, same with the flautas. Best part of the meal was the Jarritos. I miss EE Burrito so much. Food : 1/5

Im kind of nervous theyre going to start changing the chips based on the recent complaints. Ive never had better. I love how crunchy they are. My husband gets the enchiladas verdes and I get the vegetarian tostadas. Every time. I cant speak to their other items, but this is what we order and were never disappointed. Its the closest thing to authentic Mexican that weve come across in the city. I think most people in the prairies are accustomed to tex mex, relying on Old El Paso taco seasoning to add flavor vs simple & fresh salsas and sauces

There is no better place in Saskatoon for Mexican food. They have Flautas, which are insanely delicious. Regular chicken tacos are crazy good.
They have the best verde enchiladas. Really wish they were open for dine in as we are from out of town and usually come in with our 3 kids. With them being 6 & 3 it s not easy to eat in the car. We so miss eating here!!

Some of the best nachos in the city! Very good enchiladas and rice too. My only suggestion is that it would be nice to have more vegetarian options that were not just refried beans instead of meat.

So authentic and delicious!!! The Chipotle Enchilladas and Flautas were amazing. Best refried beans Ive ever had! The atomosphere is so positive and shows pride of culture. The staff was smiling and friendly. They didnt even laugh when I tried to pronounce Flautas! Highly recommend both dine in and take out!
The flavors of the food here take me right back to Mexico! And the margaritas are sublime. It would be lovely if the venue was a little roomier, but that is a minor issue.

The food here is AMAZING! My family order from here to go quite a bit but I ve missed out from being out of town. My sister and I went back and sat in for the first time since the Covid:19 pandemic. It was very nice. The service was great and some of the workers were wearing masks which was nice! The food here is a little pricey at roughly $20 per dish if you include tax, but it s very very good and generously portioned. Most places are going up to that amount per dish as well but with smaller portions. I believe this restaurant is family owned and all the staff are very nice and friendly.

Have always had a 10/10 experience. The menu is smaller than it used to be, but each dish I have had is so wholesome and simple, yet authentically delicious. I am very happy that you can replace guacamole for the meat in many dishes! I absolutely love the homemade chip, nice and crunchy and the salsa is always delicious even though it s not the same every time! You can tell it s homemade and not just salsa from a jar! Margaritas are always lovely. Staff seem like family and always welcome you with a smile and a warm hello. The space is small but I don t mind! Vegetarian options: You can substitute guacamole for lots of meat options. Kid-friendliness: Nice and colorful, staff are nice to the kids and are quick to help with extra napkins or hurried payment at the end of service when leaving in a rush

Love it all! My wife and I have eaten here many times. Nachos are fabulous. Every dish weve had is tasty. Personally I enjoy the rice and beans you get with a meal, and that adds atmosphere and flavor for me. My wife and I often get the nachos and enchiladas and its a great mix of flavors and more than enough food for two. Its a small restaurant but a great Mexican feel. Well definitely keep coming back.

Food was bland, soggy and almost flavourless. Rice was edging on day-old, refried beans tasted like they d come from a can. I really wanted to give La Bamba a second chance but I ve never been so disappointed by a meal. Flautas: overcooked and flavourless. Enchiladas: 20 minutes after pickup and somehow a little cold inside. My daughter had the $10.99 children s quesadilla, it was a taco shell with soggy shredded chicken and some bland cheese, and for the life of me tasted like it had been heated in a microwave, no signs of it having been cooked or pressed in any way. I do know this place gets rave reviews, but this is the second time I ve ordered in the last few years and both times have been laughably bad. Laughable if the meal wasn t so expensive. Ordered on a Wednesday night so perhaps slow night and we got the leftovers, but not an excuse for terrible food.

A family run restaurant with a whole lot of heart! If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, that warms the soul and does not break the bank then this is your spot!
I think youd have a better experience dining in and requesting extra salsa or hot sauce. Didnt get that option as theyre only doing pick up or delivery. They also didnt offer sauces or cutlery when ordering. Food was very bland, only had the salsa from the chips we ordered and that wasnt enough. If you order, request hot sauce and salsa as the food has no flavor to it at all.

One of my favourite restaurants in Saskatoon has to be La Bamba. The food is always delicious and the people working are always so nice. They are only offering take out and delivery but the food is perfection. Ordered the flautas tonight, and they hit the spot with the rice. Had a craving for Mexican food and our meal satisfied it. Large portion and it was delivered fast and fresh. Support local as they need help during the lockdown. We had Flautas and Quesadillas and got the yummy chips and guacamole.

I find it rare that when you order to go food that it shows up any where near as good as eating it in the restaurant. This is one of those places where the to go food travels well so i recommend it if you dont plan on leaving the house. I also enjoy eating in this restaurant as well. Chipotle enchiladas
La Bamba is incredible - do yourself a favour and try their nachos with shredded chicken. Everything I get here is so great and I will continue to support them as much as my wallet and diet will allow.

Ordered from skip the dishes hoping it was good, but it is not. Food was super bland and tasteless, no flavour expect for the enchiladas, that is it. Definitely was not worth the $80 I spent on my order. $15-17 for 2 small tacos and rice no flavour.
This place used to be my favorite Mexican place, but the quality has dropped during lockdown. I was disappointed.

The food tastes homemade. Really enjoyed it but just a tad bit expensive (hence the 4 stars instead of 5). I highly recommend trying this place out if you want to experience unique Mexican food and their serving size is very good too.

I have never been to Mexico myself, but friends that have been there have mentioned the food here is fairly authentic. It is indeed delicious, simple and filling. The refried beans and the green enchiladas are my favourite for sure! The chips with bean dip and salsa for appetizer could turn into a meal if you decide not to share - the salsa is amazingly good! I also like the laidback environment and the friendly service.

A spectacularly homemade place where you notice the flavor of Mexico in every bite.
Easily one of my favorite restaurants in the city. We have been coming here since it opened all those years ago. Really incredibly authentic Mexican food, but not only that the staff is incredible. I have never had such unbelievable service from any restaurant in my life. My go to meal is the Bamba Sopes - delicious every single time. And the fact that they are locally owned makes this 100x better!

I genuinely hate to leave a review like this but I was so completely disappointed in this place. I can t recall what the dishes I ate were called (which is unfortunate) but I had to order two because the first one was so bad (the photos are of the second dish and the dessert). I was excited when I ordered my first dish because I could order 2 sauces! for it because there was two enchiladas (I think that s what it was), but when I receive my dish it had two problems: it was DROWNED in sauce, and it was the chicken version I had ordered the vegetarian. It was nice that they gladly replaced it with the vegetarian version but the puddle of sauce was the real problem. The second dish was actually pretty good and I love that they have a collection of hot sauce bottles you can go grab for yourself. This was particularly handy because there was a lot of bean paste and it was a little bland. The rice was delicious though! I think the dessert we ordered was the special that evening and it was definitely not something to write home about. The taste was good but the texture was really not right and again, it was somewhat soggy seeming. I have friends who LOVE the restaurant but I really can t understand why. Ending with some positives.. their corn chips and salsa were great, our server was friendly, the layout is fine, the atmosphere and dishes are authentic, the prices are okay, and they re pretty well gluten and nut free.

Definitely one of the more authentic of any Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant in town. Service was good, staff were friendly. I ordered the flautas and nachos, both were excellent. I was surprised with the high quality of the complimentary chips and salsa. As with any good Mexican place, they use cilantro liberally but tastefully. Im hoping to head there again soon!

We went here last week Friday - tried about 6 different restaurants that had more than an hour wait before calling La Bamba. Though small, they fit us in. Super quick service. Chips and salsa are great, fresh (free, I assume with a main ordered). Flautas were fantastic, good sized portion. Ive never had a bad meal here.
