814 Broadway Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7N 1B6, Canada
Local breakfast institution serving classic griddle fare in a classic, 1950s-diner atmosphere.
Hidden gem!! This place is awesome. We've stopped a few times now when visiting the city. Typically we had just enjoyed the 50's diner themed atmosphere and some delicious milkshakes. This most recent stop though we had lunches and wow!! The food was incredible, portion sizes were excellent, very fair pricing and second to none service. Highly recommend giving this place a look :)
Oh my gosh this place is a step back in time! The walls are filled with different actors and singers from the past and the antique chairs and tables makes it look so retro. It's so unique and my my my the food was amazing! I tried the BLT sandwich with a side of poutine and it was absolutely scrumptious. For dessert I got the waitress to surprise me and she gave me a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream that was to die for. It's so good I'm craving it again! Can't wait to come back!
Authentic greasy spoon, with Broadway charm. The inviting staff made for an awesome breakfast experience, and my coffee never ran dry. The portion size was perfect, and the food cooked to perfection. A Saskatoon staple.
The food is alright, the front desk service is also good. But it is not reasonable to charge almost $17 for just a very thin grilled cheese sandwich with a whole plate of fries. Probably will come back for other food.
Perfect place to eat ❤️ I was very thankful to the staff for understanding my sons allergy and checking ingredients to ensure safe eating. Well priced and very friendly service. We will definitely return again.
This place was excellent, the food was well prepared, serving sizes are abundant and cost is absolutely perfect for what you get. Then there is the service, the servers and any of the staff we came in contact with were more than polite, friendly and professional. I highly recommend this as a breakfast/brunch/lunch joint in Saskatoon. KUDOS.
We arrived at the height of the lunch rush and got the last table in the house. Our server warned us up front that the kitchen was under staffed and swamped. We had a 45 minute wait for food and it was delicious. I had the Hawaiian burger and it was a real treat. The ladies had soup and wraps, the soup was an excellent borscht, and the wraps were tasty and filling. A really good cup of coffee with regular refills. The fries are house made and top notch. A very busy place, about 50 seats, plenty of happy staff. Definitely a reason to return.
Great experience from start to finish. Very busy restaurant. The staff are welcoming attentive and knowledgeable. Dillon my server today suggested the breakfast nest? (I don't remember the actual name) what a great recommendation! The dish came out quickly and the food was piping hot! It was delicious and satisfying. The coffee was fresh and complimented the food. The retro decor is a nice touch. Wanted to say the service provided by Dillon was great and I definitely will return often. The cashier lady (never got her name) was very welcoming and enhanced the experience also. Keep up the good work Broadway Cafe!
Excellent place for breakfast, great for all age groups.
Good food.
Good omelet. Good coffee. Friendly, professional staff.
Great for kids, very quick service for impatient toddlers
Best spot for breakfast
We went there for breakfast. We got our first cup of coffee before our meal came and never got offered another one until we asked for our bill. We put the cups at the side of the table and tried to get his attention. Im sorry, but if someone is drinking coffee, you keep an eye on their cup. Especially during breakfast!!
Always a favourite for us. Great food, excellent service everything.
Four clubhouse sandwiches cost almost 90 dollars. Ridiculously expensive especially for the size of the sandwiches. They were small and the best part was they had bones in them! Never coming back here.
Great breakfast, very busy place but the service was great!
An institution in Saskatoon and a must go place for breakfast or lunch. It serves yummy traditional breakfast Vegetarian options: Few very good vegetarian options on the menu. Nothing vegan, though!
Breakfast is good, but no waffles, sad. Service is second to none. 3 stars only because I hate retro dinners with a passion, but otherwise this place is totally worth it.
Too crowded and full of smell from kitchen. Food was Ok. Hope the owner will have solution for killing cooking smell.
Great atmosphere, Nostalgic. Great having breakfast with the King and Marilyn Munroe :). Cheers Food : 5/5
Went for a birthday brunch - fantastic visit!! Service was PHENOMENAL!!! And we came specifically for the atmosphere! Love the ambiance as well!!
Impay takakih, kwayask weekasin. The chef is the best!
Amazing decor , service and food
Honestly, server was fine (nothing amazing, rushed us at the end), food tasted good, but found a hair under my meal- they didnt bother to check in how everything went at the end, so I had to let the hostess at the front know about the hair. No compensation for the fact I had to waste the last half of my meal. Got a, word for word Ohh, thats too bad.. I guess I could let the back know later.. and then silence as I paid full price for a meal I couldnt finish, because of a hair in it. Quite disappointed, wouldve liked to go back, but the experience really soured my opinion of this place. Overall, not a bad food spot, but for the service and hospitality alone, I wouldnt recommend anyone go here anymore. Lost my respect for the business, its too bad.
Corn beef breakfast was pretty good
A very busy cafe. Home cooked meals with attentive service. Meals are always flavourful.
Great Breakfasts.
Great service and amazing waitress
Cool diner atmosphere, experienced servers that do a great job running the room! Old school diner, old school service! Will definitely be back. Parking: Was easy enough to find a spot along the nearby street with a pay parking machine. Was something like 3$ for the hour and a bit I was there.
We love the Broadway Cafe but havent been for a while. We arrived at 1130 today, we were seated and our order was taken promptly. The staff are obviously friendly and capable. Our food took just shy of one hour to arrive, so its a good thing we are retirees. My husbands food was a little cool and his fries were droopy. I must say my turkey sandwich was the driest thing, I have ever been served. The mayo was sparce and was hiding between the lettuce and the bread. The turkey was thick and obviously from a roast turkey. When I would bite it, turkey was crumbling and dropping out. It could be offered with cranberry relish and/or a pickle. If you order it be sure to ask for these on the side.
Always great food with great portions! Such a nice spot for breakfast!
Excellent portions exceptional service. We dont eat out much and this place is a treat. Always busy but then always fresh.
Visited here with family yesterday as we were in town for a competition. Drove from Regina straight to the Cafe. The atmosphere was great, staff was friendly. My family ordered breakfast and I had lunch. They all seemed to enjoy their meal but I wasnt a big fan of my meal. It was still a good meal, the taste of my wrap just wasnt to my liking. Everything else was awesome about this place though. I was amazed at how much the bill was for 4 people. Very reasonable. It was my first time here and next time I am back in Saskatoon I will be stopping here again!
The assistant manager was fairly disrespectful towards me. I expressed concern that they have been out of hollandaise sauce the last three times I ve been here. They consistently run out seemingly around noon when they are open until 3pm. I suggested as a customer leaving feedback to have the kitchen prepare more on the weekends. She responded with would you like to go back in the kitchen and help them make more . She also proceeded to tell me she is being nice and if she told me her actual opinion of my thoughts as a customer it would not be nice and that she was getting agitated. This is very disrespectful behaviour and comments to someone who was simply trying to leave constructive feedback.
Lots of food but it was just ok, not great 6/10..meh. OJ was not good. Coffee was a little bitter. The person who served it provided frequent top-ups but she sloshed it on the table on down the side of the cup. Everyone was friendly, ambience was great, service fast but I wouldn t return for a large, but very mediocre meal
Top service, I was there for 45 minutes and was interacted with about a dozen times, friendly smiles, constant coffee top up, I think the kitchen was having a party, they were in such good spirits. And the food was delicious, soup of the day was beet borscht and it did NOT disappoint. Thanks for serving me and making my day better.
Always a pleasure to eat there! The food is great, service too and the price is reasonable.
I love it here but someone needs to give the owner s son an apron.
This is my second time eating there. Brought the rest of my family. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, and amazing service. The employees are some of the best I ve ever experienced. Our server especially was great, she even guessed we were from Yorkton! Also, the milkshakes were very authentic. Would highly recommend this place to anybody!
Very good
First time - won t be my last! Restaurant was extremely busy so had a great visit with family while waiting for breakfast to arrive. Absolutely worth the wait! And server(s) came by numerous times with offers of more water & coffee.
There was a 20-minute wait to get in. The food was good, the service was okay. Loved the decor
Great small restaurant highly recommended
Excellent food and service. We had breakfast.. One negative was, they charged a $1 extra for sourdough toast. Seriously? The prices are not cheap. I know its just a dollar but I am not fond of extra charges. Food
It s like going back in time. This 50 s diner is so cool. Food is very good, and the music was soft and created the throwback atmosphere I was expecting.
Always awesome service and food quality when I come to broadway Cafe, I highly recommend this place, I do wish the hours were extended past 3 pm but still a fantastic location.
Its a treat for me to pop in here once in a while for a eggs Benny and hashbrowns... it was decent this last time, but not as good as usual. Seems the hollandaise and hashbrowns were lower quality. Ill still give it a chance next time but hope it will be better. Floor service was good.
The best breakfast place in town. Went there for the first time today and will certainly go there again. Thanks for the great food and service.
Food LOOKED great. We found it very bland. Wasnt worth the price. Not even close. Disappointing sadly
This Retro place needs more space !! Narrow, so crowded. Knock out a wall !!Lunch food better than breakfast. Everything is over $17 now, so expensive for families. Vegetarian options: Quesadilla + Fries generous. Took home
I love this place very much and just keep coming back The service is always good and food is always amazing!
Food was mediocre at best. Beef dip was three pieces of chewy meat on a hotdog bun. It was so dry it was hard to eat, even with au jus. Milkshake was mostly icy, not very creamy. One of the servers was very friendly and helpful.
The café had a fun nostalgic vibe to it. The service was amazing. The food was delicious, especially the new broadway breakfast stack (egg and bacon on a bagel).
Very good place to eat.
I guess I havent been out much lately, but man these prices have skyrocketed! Paid $75 for a Clubhouse, and Chicken Fingers, plus soup, tip incl. Scheesh! Service was good, waited almost an hour for our food, so this along with these prices makes for a 2 star review.
Very friendly service with a small town feel
I had the traditional breakfast and it was great!
Great food and friendly staff
Arguably one of the best coffee shops in town. Had various coffee and tea drinks here, never get disappointed. And their peanut butter cookies are the best!
Saw a line of people waiting and found out they have a breakfast bar that no one wanted to sit at! Definitely fun to sit there you will always have people topping up your coffee and water! Haha Lovely staff and three choices of potato!! Shredded all the way! I got a pancake on the side and it was huge! Delicious! Im so glad I checked this place out. Their milkshakes looked amazing but I was stuffed!
First time there and just loved it. Definitely will go back again. Only drawback was parking, however that doesnt take away from the experience.
Underwhelmed to say the least. Our server was unattentive and texting right next to us whilst our needs were not met, our food was not great, and yet our bill was of a siimilar amount of a bill from a steakhouse? Im fairly displeased, my friends, family and I wont be back.
Amazing food but even better service!
I give the Broadway cafe a solid 4 stars. The food was excellent phenomenally delicious Burger. The service was decent. The price is a little extreme for what I purchase. But overall it was a good dining experience.
Very quick service in a cool retro atmosphere
I love going to eat at this place. The food is always very good and the service is friendly and fast.
The food is fantastic, love the staff and the lively environment!
I had girl friends come to town for the day. We enjoyed the surroundings and memorabilia within the restaurant. The food was tasty and hot. The service was amazing! Highly recommend.
Amazing food . We were looking for a good breakfast place and stumbled upon Broadway Cafe. Breakfast was quick and amazing. Service was great and super friendly. Place was packed and everyone seemed to be in good spirits . Highly recommend
A good go-to classic food in Saskatoon! They have all the classic dinner food.
This was our go-to place for my wife Sheree and I when we were in Saskatoon. The food was really really awesome, and the milkshakes were served with a parfait glass and a metal container that held your milkshake. It was a step back to a simpler time and I highly recommend this restaurant.
This is our grandsons favourite breakfast spot! Good food, leather portions and great service. Nice 50s dinner atmosphere.
I went for breakfast right at 8am within 30min the Cafe was very busy! Staff were friendly, atmosphere gave the classic diner vibes. I got the sourdough eggs Benny, it was good, nothing extraordinary about it. They do standard breakfast items well, if youre looking for an interesting take on old breakfast items this isnt the place. They do the ordinary well and for a good price.
No fuss, tasty brunch spot!
Wasnt impressed with the burger. Also the chocolate pancakes are hard to eat, not very good atall and my daughter loves pancakes. Quite noisy and crammed. Definitely not going back. Food
Classic Diner vibe, delicious breakfasts, atmosphere has us coming back, always homey and has us coming back nearly weekly
For breakfast or brunch, Broadway Café is an outstanding choice. The atmosphere of the café is delightful, and the staff members are incredibly friendly and welcoming.
Old Saskatoon, the Brodway Cafe is an old establishment with great food and staff. A must in Saskatoon.
Had a very nice lunch with homemade soup and a sandwich. Pleasant surroundings and great coffee. Breakfast today - subbed fruit salad for the eggs in the breakfast special. Great coffee as usual.
Stopped with my family for a their delicious Milkshake and we couldnt finish it . Service is great and very welcoming , will come again. Keep it up
Cant get a better 50s diner milkshake anywhere in Saskatchewan
It was good
The food is very subpar. Staff are friendly but the main draw to the resturant is just the atmosphere. Its a cool place to visit, but dont go for the food quality. Dietary restrictions: The gluten free options are far and few in between.
Had the breakfast stack sandwich this morning and it was fantastic! Kid-friendliness: Kids menu, highchairs, booster seats Food : 5/5 |
Everyone was super nice
We do enjoy the breakfast here. The food is always hot and delicious, the servers are attentive and available. The only reason it didnt get 5 stars is it tends to be really loud, and last time we were there we waited an hour for the food. We were okay, but if you are in a Sunday hurry you may end up late! Kid-friendliness: Kids will love the atmosphere here. Lots to look at.
Really enjoyed our breakfast special. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Thanks so much. Will be back for sure.
I always go here for the breakfast and a cup of coffee. The vibes are so nice that I got here. I live in Greystone so took me 10 minutes to go there.
Best food in town and at a reasonable price
An underrated gem in Saskatoon. Food is always good, service as well. Cant go wrong for a nice breakfast/lunch/dinner. Parking is the worst part about the broadway area, but if you dont mind parking on some side streets and a short walk, its not so bad!
I have never had a bad meal here, and its always busy . Have a milkshake . Parking: Use parking lot of closed extra foods . Food : 5/5 |
Best food ever! I stop at this place every time Im in Saskatoon!
Cozy
We enjoyed our visit here. I was quite excited to try to monte Cristo as it is one of the specialties but I was disappointed by the lack of flavour and the flatness. Otherwise it was good. Service was excellent
Great food, reasonable prices but very busy.
Had mushroom cheese burger and onion rings. Was very yummy and filling.
Extremely disappointing. We clearly were the last table of the day and the kitchen rush made our food. Patty melt with onions that definitely were not sautéed. My eggs tasted like sugar because the ham was sugar glazed and placed on top of my meal, my hashbrowns were severely undercooked and hard, my toast was blackly burnt. I gave up. They were closing and I didn t want to wait 15 minutes for another rush made breakfast while my boyfriend ate. Nothing like the reviews. Big let down.
Staff are absolutely excellent. Food is tasty and well priced. We come here twice a month. If you want breakfast and have a small appetite you can order the kids breakfast. Feeling a little more hungry? Order an extra pancake! Parking: There is free parking one block off of Broadway.
Good food and service in a diner style restaurant
Great nostalgia place. Only downside are prices are excessive and should have seniors pricing Food : 4/5
Prices are high everywhere but this is still a nice spot
Great place for lunch with friends, and an iconic dining place on Broadway. Highly recommended.
A Broadway institution - great atmosphere, good food, reasonable prices, and friendly service.
Best eggs Benny ever! My fav spot for breakfast by far
According to my boyfriend, they have the best eggs Benedict in town! Also the omelets are huge and tasty. Food
I love having breakfast here! Old school atmosphere!
The breakfast was a big disappointment I will never eat there again McDonalds is better then that and thats not saying much thats to bad
Good breakfast
Good food, unique atmosphere and great service! I have lived in Saskatoon and surrounding area my entire life. Ive meant to stop in here numerous times throughout the years, but it never happened. Until today. Ill definitely be back.
Nikki was my server and she was spectacular. Very friendly and prompt service !
We love this place. Freindly, they go above & beyond. Food is always cooked the way you want.. if you like borscht theirs is very good.
Food is always exceptional. Service is great. Guess what coffee refills.
Excellent as usual. Great food at reasonable prices
A charming Broadway location which a simple, brunch-friendly menu.
I would have given this place a five star, but there isnt much going here. The food is good, the building itself inside and out is good. The staff are okay, dont get me wrong super friendly, but it seemed to be they didnt have a work place uniform. Which yes, thats like home style breakfast, but if they had a work place uniform type idea, like at the Park Cafe, it would be five stars. Good place.
We are visiting from out of town and spotted this cafe from across the street. We popped in on a whim and had the fastest, most delicious breakfast ever! The service was fantastic and the retro decor is totally my jam! I wish we were here longer so we could go back again and again! Highly recommended!
Awesome food and service, will be going back there soon. Price was spot on.
The food was ok, your standard breakfast .great ambiance. More only complaint is buy some decent sized coffee cups, the current ones had my cup going empty frequently and causing the waitress to have come around way to often
Really good breakfast. Short wait in line.
We were there for a Birthday lunch for my daughter. Staff friendly and efficient as usual. Love this restaurant
Love this little diner. Noisy, crowded, good food, great service. Had a great lunch with a friend, prices were average, will be back for sure.
Great food and excellent service. I would recommend.
Good breakfast
We are regulars here and absolutely adore everything about the place. It is definitely a bustling little establishment, but even at their busiest the staff is always so attentive and someone is always running around filling up drinks and coffee. Amazing food from an amazing local establishment. We cannot recommend this place more. We especially love their breakfast menu and love the homemade French fries.
very busy it was Saturday their debit machine not working luckily all of us had cash but they didnt seem to concerned about the not having debit
We had a very tough day on Friday. We were in Saskatoon as we had our horse at the University with the hopes there was something miraculous they could do to help him. (the horse on the right... Victor) Unfortunately, the best decision was to put him down. We went for lunch after to the Broadway Café. Needless to say I was a mess, and cried through my meal. The very nice waitress told me our meal is on the house and that she hopes our day gets better. The act of kindness went a long way. It is nice to know there are good people out there. Thank you so much kind waitress. Next time we are in Saskatoon, we will for sure be back. The food was amazing. My borscht soup was delicious.
Absolutely love their beet borscht. Quirky place with ambience of an old diner. Great service, clean and good food!
Fantastic breakfast - portions are healthy sized. Prices are represented perfectly by what you get on your plate. Friendly atmosphere. Will be back again!
Allways a staple when Im in town, any travelers should try this local legend. The Newport sandwich is a delicious combination you just do not find in chain restaurants.
This is a great restaurant, the food is 5/5 stars, the service is 5/5 stars, the atmosphere is 5/5 stars, and the cleanliness is also 5/5 stars. This is the best diner cafe in Saskatchewan
The breakfast was great and the servers were friendly, but the only problem was I cant find a place to charge my phone while eating.
Can t go wrong with this place ! Breakfast is delicious a bit more $$ But definitely worth it if you want a big meal ! Always friendly and great atmosphere! Definitely recommend if you are visiting Saskatoon!
Great food, and awesome service.
Had the hotdog. It was just okay. Wouldn t get again. The service was phenomenal however. Good prices neat restaurant.
OMG THE FRIES ARE AMAZING
Great service
Great venue. clean, friendly staff. Portion sizes are generous. The food is bland and the french toast was very dry.
Service was slow. We ordered a side caesar salad, our bill showed a $17.95 1/2 chicken caesar... we told them at payment and they took $2 off (after they even acknowledged us) $16 for a side salad with kraft dressing? What a joke. The gravy was good... that was the only happy point.
Good as I remember it and happy that its still around. Had steak and eggs for breakfast with the shredded hashbrowns - a hard combination to find. Good food, friendly servers; not a surprise its still a neighborhood staple.
Love the atmosphere and decor of this 50 s style restaurant. The breakfast is delicious. We especially love the tater tots!
Huge serves. Tasty food. Very clean and nice layout
Typical food, nothing special. Would love to see them move toward *actual* hollandaise sauce. Great service/staff
The Broadway Cafe is a delightful place to eat while catching up with friends and family. Service, food and overall aura of the establishment is a 10/10.
Busy place but good food and service
We came with the kids for lunch. It was just ok.. not bad mind you. Just ok. The server was fine.. kind and attentive. Maybe a bit too many tables for her. The support staff were all around cleaning and refilling drinks.. seems like a good environment. The bill I think was a bit high for the type of food we got but I understand thats an issue across the restaurant board right now. Some guy at the milkshake bar kept staring at me. .. probably cause of my new haircut.
If youre looking for a great Reuben sandwich this is definitely the place to go!! My server was so friendly and accommodating!
Amazing service! Cups never ran out of coffee. 10/10.portion sizes were excellent!
Excellent service. Excellent food. Excellent menu. Only good things to say about this place.
Update: three of us went for brunch today. We were there at noon on Sunday and had to wait a bit. Food was again very good and prepared the way we liked it despite each order being unique. Good tasty food, good service. However, since our last visit prices have definitely moved up. But still a good place to go. Original: Four of us had brunch at the cafe. Food was very good and prepared exactly as we wanted it, service was excellent. Prices were good in the place was clean. Recommended for breakfast and brunch.
Good service and decent food for brunch.
Great food & service
Great place
Tasty food, good portions, prices reasonable
They made me a hot dog without a bun and the most amazing milkshake I have had in 20 years. It is like stepping back in time to a simpler time, with good food, great service and people who clearly love what they do. I cannot recommend enough.
Great decor. The original 50s themed restaurant in Saskatoon and a long time staple of dining on Broadway. Breakfast at Broadway Cafe is always delicious.
Wonderful service, soups are delish and my sandwich was awesome. A real diner experience!
Very friendly and attentive staff. Great atmosphere. Lunch was delicious. Will definitely return.
Had breakfast special with my mom, it was delicious and large portions. Good times, highly recommended
Go-to for breakfast in the city. Diner atmosphere with yum on the menu. Try the Kelly Coffee, you will come back again just for that
If your a person who prefers quantity over quality then you will enjoy this place. We found the food very greasey and bland. Our server really never checked in on us other than at the start and end. The whole diner feel though is quite cool with the old school tables, booths and pictures. Another down fall is its only street parking which is very limited.
Love the food
Food was good and the service was great!
Lobely spot for a good coffee and snack
Went here with a friend for breakfast. Food was great as always. The cafe has a great vibe and is a fun place for catching up with friends.
One of my favorite places for brunch. Love the traditional breakfast! Love the 50s vibe, always great service.
Its amazing. The people were nice and were consistent in checking up if we needed anything. The food was amazing, especially the fries they were the best fries I have ever tasted. The 80s atmosphere was nice but I didnt hear any 80s music but that didnt matter to much to me tho.
