Ordered the soup. Today it was Tomato and Dill. Under ten bucks. There is always great soup at Prairie Ink.

While the food and dessert is pricey it is absolutely worth it! Not to mention their chocolate avocodo cake is amazing!

Wheelchair accessibility: The bookstore and the restaurant are very accessible. The outdoor ramp is well placed with ample handicap parking, and the main doors of the store are electric assist. Now this is what you call a hidden gem! Exceptional homemade food! Fast friendly service, AMAZING BREAD!!! Pretty cool you can only access it through the book store. Definitely well managed - no wonder it took 40 mins to get a seat! Totally worth the wait! Recommended and will return!

This is an interesting establishment: 3 in one - a bookstore, a related goods store, a bar and a restaurant. We came there to buy books as a gift, but I can t pass up the cheesecake, so we stopped by the bar-restaurant and ordered two cold lattes to take with us, because... it was hot outside, and I had a piece of cheesecake, and my daughter had a piece of some chocolate cake. She liked the cake, I didn t like the cheesecake very much, as if it wasn t fresh. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy. But a separate conversation about the service... at first they were wise: if the coffee is to go, that means the cakes should be packed in boxes, and not served on a saucer. As you can imagine, it was inconvenient to eat them. And to top it all off, they simply wouldnt give me my piece of cheesecake, and when I asked for it, they looked at me as if I had stolen it. As a result, they still brought it to me with the words: here is your cheesecake without any apology. Ive traveled a lot in Europe and a lot in Canada, but this is the first time Ive encountered such service, so I couldnt help but leave a review. I advise the owner to do a good job with the staff or replace them.

I had sent in a private email a month ago. I hate leaving public reviews without trying to reach out to the business first. I haven t heard anything back. Not a peep. So here s my review! Tuesday April 9th. 6:30pm-8pm My Mom, Auntie (her birthday dinner) and myself attended dinner on Tuesday April 9th in your establishment. We had a lovely time. Food was great. Server was punctual. Until we ordered dessert and coffee, and I needed to use the restroom. I have never visited your establishment before, and was unaware of where the restrooms were. I made my way to the bookstore clerks, who at that time were eating cookies behind the desks. They pointed me in the right direction. Great. With less than 2 minutes of using the facilities, I heard a loud knock at the restroom doors. And in walks a gentleman, very hard to understand (as I saw after he was wearing a mask, and very muffled). He looked through the stall cracks and made direct eye contact with me!!! yelling at me! saying they were closed and I had to leave! Wow. Now. If the server who took our dessert and coffee order, 10 minutes prior to the closing time, would have let us know, or even the staff pointing me in the right direction to the restrooms, could have let me know that I had less than, literally, 2 minutes to use the facilities and leave, we would not have ordered dessert and coffee, and we would have planed to move our after dinner, dessert and treats to a different location. Once I came out of the bathroom, I asked to file a complaint with the gentleman that prior pointed me in the direction to the facilities, about the cleaner coming in and looking through the stall cracks. I was told I should have spoken up, that I was in the bathroom, and that it was my fault, they heard him from the desks. I said we are in a library, not a bar. You want me to yell through the door? Yes was the answer I received. There was one gent also accused me of making this scenario up. Wow. There was now the cleaner that had previously yelled at me, the gentleman who was munching on cookies and pointed me in the direction of the facilities, another gentleman, and a young lady, all siding and literally, yelling overtop of me, about how I should have known, they were closing at 8pm, and I that it was my problem, and I needed to leave. When I spoke about leaving a complaint with the company, they encouraged me to do so! After asking for names of the staff, I received names of Jeff, Curt, the cleaner who was not giving his name, and the young lady, who rolled her eyes and walked away from me. I was completely shocked and embarrassed. After this moment, I sat back down in the restaurant. My Mom and Auntie had just received coffee and dessert, everything had been paid for while I was gone. Please know that there were around 4 other tables with us in the restaurant at this time! We were not made aware of the closing times and the minimal time we had to scarf down our coffee and dessert! My Mom had gone up to the servers to discuss this matter with them. They smiled and said yes, he s (the cleaner) has been here forever and he s like that. Yikes. The communication between staff and guests were very poor. We found this act to be very inappropriate and unacceptable.

Food excellent. Atmosphere excellent. Service was horrendous. Stood for 5 mins waiting to be seated. Many tables open. Servers were chatting it up leaning against the counter. We were shown to our table and forgot about. I finally went to the front and said we have been waiting 18 minutes for someone to take our order. She came to our table wearing Lulu Lemon pants, untied runners and a baggy hoody. I would have never thought she was our server. Really unprofessional and disappointing bc the food is very good but the service makes me want to poke my eyes out.

One of the best store to spend time. First lost in books, after tired, you can eat good meals in the restaurant. Dont forget to get a membership for %10 discount.

Went last week. Burger bun was dry. You can tell a place doesn t care about customers if the bread is not fresh. Burger was cooked ok but not spiced at all. Good service though.

The atmosphere was really great. Even though it was super busy, I got prompt friendly service. There was a bit of a wait. However, that is to be expected on Valentines Day. The food and coffee were really well executed. I hope to make this a more frequent stop!

Hosts were VERY unprofessional. On their phone the majority of our time here. Taking selfies , following one another around, and seemed more focus on personal phone and non-work related matters. Waitress was polite and kind although service was very slow. Food was good.

I don t know where to start. FOOD. 1000000/10 literally one of the best food places i ve been to; crazy to think about since its in a bookstore! i split a turkey club with my mom which was very good, and the absolute STAR of the show: the broccoli cheddar soup like oh my god its probably the best soup i have ever had. unlike other broccoli cheddar soups which are usually just like orange cheese sauce and broccoli chunks, this one was not orange at all, i think it used white cheddar and instead of chunks, just had mini floret pieces aswell as other veggies in there. god it was so good. and the chocolate avacado vegan cake was DROOL worthy. so freaking moist, and they did not skimp on icing or the serving size. atmosphere was great- literally in a cozy bookstore corner . our waitress was so friendly and helpful, and all the other waitresses there that served us were as well. I would literally come to this bookstore just for this food it was so damn good. 1000/10 HIGHLY recommend the soup and cake, plus the service and friendliness was amazing.

Finally I visited this restaurant hide in a bookstore. I have been to this bookstore years ago, but I did not realize that a restaurant located here, until I trash food near 8th St. This is my first visit, the visit is interesting. A quarter circle of the bookstore is the restaurant. I like the view of the cake spot, looks delicious. The food I have ordered is chicken with goat cheese, and I tried the down size of their signature salad Prairie Ink. All in all, for this $20 pricing, it is better than some $30 meal. A good spot for high tea, or have a cup of coffee after shopping books or reading. Nice leisure time spend spot by yourself or with friends or family.

Good god. Love the recent addition of the meal ball dis. Service is great and the desserts are amazing. PS add the new meat ball dish to the online selection.

I love the food, service and atmosphere here but some of the tables and chairs are extremely wobbly and could use replacing and thats why I am only giving 4 stars instead of 5!

It was a decently busy night so there was a wait for our food but we didn t mind since we were able to just catch up on each other s day. Our server was super friendly (as they always are). I got the bacon cheddar burger with Caesar salad as a side. Unfortunately I didn t like the burger very much since it was driiiipping with oil. I mean it has bacon so it s expected to be greasy but wayyyy too much for my liking. The taste is average; bacon made it good but the grease made it not so good However, LOVED the salad it s a basic Caesar salad but it was the perfect salad to dressing ratio! Next, my boyfriend ordered a steak sandwich with tomato soup as a side . His was also a it s good but not at the same time. The steak was more rare than medium rare (not sure if the picture reflects that well) but it was very bloody after one poke. He didn t send it back since he can tolerate a bit more bloodyness but not me flavour-wise he enjoyed it tho. As for the soup, he enjoyed it! He likes tomato-based soups so it s a recommended for him (but would ve been better if it came with crackers). Prairie Ink has always been our IT spot to go for random date nights. Even tho each time has been a hit and miss, we love the atmosphere and enjoy walking around McNally Robinson s right after dinner. Always such good finds there!!

Theres barely any avocado in the turkey avocado sandwich, And Ive noticed lately the prices went up and the portions went down

The restaurant is a little cramped and loud during the busier times of day, but it makes up for it with tasty food and delicious drinks. Their dinner and lunch meals are a little fancy and small portioned for my personal taste, but my favorite time to come here is for dessert and coffee -- their Schmoo Torte is one of my favorite desserts ever.

Its always the same great food and service no matter who is working and I like that. Ive had many different servers and cooks over the years when Ive gone, and theres never a time when I feel like an employee hates their job. Everyone has a welcoming attitude and a good work ethic. Management must be good!

Such a great restaurant with their fresh and tasty food and the cozy atmosphere.! They have great desserts too! Kid-friendliness: My kids love coming here for the food and being able to read books at Mcnallys afterwards.

Soups and desserts are always on point

Prairie Ink has been a staple in YXE for years, maybe even decades at this point. They always make a great meal, coffee, and dessert. Such a treat to pop in to grab a book and stop for lunch! Always recommend.

Its an amazing restaurant with a Cafe like atmosphere its was an awesome bang for your buck type place there huge cheap slices of pie il be honest if they were to make everything 10$ more expensive i would still go there as much as I do. My recommendations are the salmon, the banana Italian soda and the chicken with goat cheese plus all there baking and soups almost the perfect restaurant would recommend for dates and just a nice family lunch Vegetarian options: Alot of vegan salads and soups Parking: A large parking space Kid-friendliness: A good well priced kids menu with plenty of options

Delicious salads with a grilled chicken breast that was still juicy. Followed it up with a slice of double chocolate cheesecake. Excellent!

Food wonderful! Cleanliness questionable . Server masked up in COVID gear, asked if she was ill as no one else was ... this is 3 years post covid. Young man at entry rolling silverware in the napkins was cleaning tables and playing with his cell phone without washing. We asked for the manager on duty and was told theyre in Winnipeg. Food was good although training and cleanliness lacking. Wont return.

Poor service yesterday evening ~8pm. We were in for desserts and coffee. The last time we went to Prairie Ink ~6 months ago service was slow as well, but not as bad as this time. Server did not come by the table for 10-15 minutes after we were sat, no acknowledgement at all from them during that time. The restaurant was about 2/3 full, not packed. About 10 minutes in we flagged down a different server to get our drink order taken. That server apologized for the wait, which was very nice of them considering it wasn t their fault. We appreciated that they went out of their way to take our drink order. Hostess brought us waters a couple minutes after that point. Once our server finally did make her way over to drop off the drinks and take our dessert order, she did not mention anything about taking so long. As a server myself, the least one can do is apologize for the inconvenience especially if you re going to take over 10 minutes to get to your table, regardless of whether or not a different server apologized previously. Desserts and drinks were tasty. But at $40 for three desserts, two beverages and a lack of timely service, we will be going elsewhere in the future.

Food was just ok. Prices are high for what you get. I had a steak sandwich and this is all you get. A salad and the steak on a very large piece of bread. I might go back and try there desert as the servings look to be a good size but not to have a meal with the prices.

For a few reasons the December I ve been to prairie ink three times and the food has been fine, but the service has been terrible. I came in one evening an hour before they close and was told me and a friend couldn t be seated for dessert (because according to the host they stopped seating people at 8:05 and it was exactly 8:05). Another time I waited for half an hour for the bill and asked twice and when I went up to lay was told I needed to wait for my bill. Also don t order the creme brûlée to go because they don t ask if you want it brûlée d and dump it in the to go coffee cup.

Very good food, excellent dessert. Our waitresses noticeably didnt check on us as much as she did other tables. However for being a lunch time rush food got to us rather quickly. The coffee was very good, highly recommend getting a fancy latte.

This restaurant is top notch. I love the intimate atmosphere and the quality menu. I havent had a thing on this menu that wasnt presented well or tastes great. The staff are friendly and the desserts are fabulous. Im always tempted to get a latte and a lemonade as they are both great and Always leave room for dessert, even if its just to take home. You wont regret it.

Enjoyed the early morning atmosphere and two fresh baked cookies as a pre-shopping snack. The host and waitress were very kind and attentive as well as the bakery staff. Restaurant area was clean and well arranged. Weve also come in numerous times before for lunches and dinners and the food is always fresh and delicious.

I will never go back to this place after how they treated my mother, who is a senior citizen. No one came to our table check on how the food was (they made mistakes with our order) or if we needed anything else (we did). After sitting at the table after we had finished for half an hour, we thought maybe we were supposed to pay at the counter. My mom got up to try to find the place to pay and an employee, in a loud stern rude tone told her YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR FOOD. Thats what we had been trying to do for the last half hour. They werent busy. There were 3 servers standing around doing nothing. Less coke behind the counter, more human decency to my elderly mother

Very nice cafeteria located inside the bookstore. They have a nice selection of decent size entrees and desserts. Last time I discovered their milkshakes and would 100% recommend ordering one as they are delicious and not expensive. So far our servers have always been very polite and patient while taking our order.

The waitresses was nice the food was yucky. The chiefs looked lost and the waitress forgot my water but she was the only one trying and the bus boy or the boy worker with the mask

I had the hot honey linguini, and my wife a personal pizza. Both were very good. Waitress was very kind and attentive. She noticed that we were opening an envelope with our babies expected gender and congratulated us and gave us a complementary desert to celebrate - so thoughtful!

Eaten here twice and loved it both times! A favorite stop whenever we are in Saskatoon. Excellent food, terrific service and great setting!

One of my favourite places to get food, the atmosphere is lovely, the service is great, and don t even get me started about the desserts. Their flourless chocolate torte is literally to die for, and everything on their menu is delicious. The hot honey linguine is the perfect meal if you like some spice.

This place gets busy for a reason. A great cafe attached to McNally Robinson book store. A perfect spot to enjoy a cappuccino and start a new book. I enjoyed the breakfast but it seems their specialty is in baked goods and cakes.

The food and desserts are amazing here. I highly recommend getting the soup of the day or trying one of their cheesecakes. If its busy, you get to look around the bookstore while you wait for your table. Doesnt get much better than this!

The best steak and shrimp for $25 you can buy. It was under seasoned but cooked perfectly and for the price you cannot beat it. I would have given it a 5 star but the chef left the rubber band on my broccoli (got a $5 discount) and the service was SUPER slow. Out of 7 employees there appeared to be only one server for the full restaurant. Aug 27 @1700

I absolutely love this place. If were looking at the desserts, all their cakes are wonderful, their muffins always come through, and the cookies and scones always absolutely slap. Looking at the lunch and supper entree options, I cant say that theres a single item that I wouldnt recommend to someone, a recent favourite being the cheddar bacon burger. Fully recommend Prairie Ink to anyone.

My all time escape place! A great restaurant with cozy environment and very friendly service providers! The foods are delicious and it s actually e very nice place to hangout or spend some quality me-time! I had the coffee, breakfast items and soups. All of them are mouthwatering and the serving is quite good. I do recommend everyone to visit this place.
