Carver's Steakhouse & Lounge in Saskatoon

Chief Rodrigo Martinez is brilliant. The crab cakes were cooked perfectly (light crispy layer with very delicious filling, full of crappy meat and flavored). The sauce gave a beautiful combination of a little bit of a kick with a sweetening because of the balsamic vinaigrette. The ravioli was delicious and paired perfectly with the butternut squash. However the squash can overwhelm the flavor of the ravioli so it s important to portion your bites. The scallops were cooked perfectly with a beautiful light sear to it- lightly but nicely season. The sauce and mashed potato combination is perfect. Overall, it is sweet but flavored. The Beignets were perfectly cooked with the trio of sauces: English creme, Scotch caramel, and caramel. The caramel was too sweet and english creme to thin (more like weak condensed milk that had good base flavor that balanced the caramel). The scotch caramel was perfect. (Note this is a late review- I ate there August 31st)

Had a great ribeye here. Apps were standard but the steak was fantastic. Sides were also good and the drinks we got were good too. Decently pricy but I enjoyed the spot.

I had a reservation for the lounge on February 16th for 7:30. I had requested that my daughter be my server. It was my birthday and I thought it would be nice to celebrate at her workplace. When I arrived I was so blown away by how beautiful she had set up the table for my birthday. She had all my gifts set up at the table and she had folded the napkins into beautiful little fans on top of the plates. I waited to be joined by my friend and my other daughter who both drove in from Warman to have this meal with me. It was a very busy work day and I was really looking forward to this. As my daughter was getting me settled in and I was opening a couple of my gifts a very nice young lady pulled my daughter to the side. When my daughter came back to the table she said that her manager, Leah, said she couldnt stay and serve us because the lounge wasnt busy enough. She had already started serving our table which made us her table and before I made the reservation my request was for my daughter to be our server. We were then told we would be served by the bartender. I have to say that Im extremely disappointed. My daughter told me all about the amazing food and wines that are served at Carvers. This quite honestly ruined my birthday. I wanted her as my server, but because of what happened I left and went elsewhere. I didnt want to make a scene at my daughters workplace but that was a terrible experience. I expected more from an establishment like Carvers.

Took our son to Carvers to celebrate his 21st birthday and we had a wonderful meal together. He had the 16 oz ribeye, while my wife had the filet mignon. I myself had the halibut and it was delicious. We all enjoyed our food and drinks very much. Our server was attentive and very friendly which made the experience that much better. The atmosphere of the restaurant is FANTASTIC. With muted pools of soft lighting suspended over each table and darker interior finishes, we felt like we were in a very classy place for sure. Oh, and the beignets with the three dipping sauces are to die for. Trust me, it doesnt get much more decadent.

Unbelievable service and professionalism! Last minute reservation and was accommodated. Our experience here started off horrible with a table insulting everyone around them. The staff kindly moved us while fully booked, dealt with this table better than imagined, and still managed to impress everyone all around. Never been so impressed by how a restaurant dealt with this situation, and I mean the entire staff. Everyone involved checked back at some point and everyone was able to laugh about it by the end. Food was great but service made our evening!

Had a private event in the Hampton room with 23 guests. We chose their reserve menu. The servers started drink orders promptly, followed by the meal service. Meals were delivered in a reasonable amount of time, the food was hot and we have very few concerns, and many more compliments from the attendees. Everything went exactly as planned and I would absolutely recommend Carvers and their private room for an exclusive or executive dinner. Wheelchair accessibility: Is easily wheel chair accessible:)

My bestie made some reservations for this place. Food is amazing I got ribeye for supper. Lil too fatty for my liking. But delish they even had bday brownie for me. It was delish.

I enjoyed our meal, but my steak was pretty poorly cooked which is a bummer when going to a higher end steakhouse like this.. Service was great though!

The service was extremely slow. I ordered the 9 oz fillet and it was overcooked and cold. My baked potato was cold. I have eaten here many times in the past but lately the service and food have not been acceptable.

Had a delicious solo meal here while on a business trip. Had the filet mignon and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! I typically like my filets rare but since I m pregnant, I went for medium to be on the safe side and it was still delicious. Sides were perfect as well. Was wanting a classic meat & potatoes meal and this satisfied on every level. I found service to be slightly slow but it could have just been me wanting to have a quick dinner.

If you want to charge top dollar, Carvers, you really need to provide a product worthy of that. We had the halibut, which is served on a very nice parmesan-quinoa cake, but had a cold, gluey, under-seasoned pea puree on the plate. It was also layered with mushy, tasteless chick peas and black beans that seemed to serve no purpose. I don t know who s running the kitchen, but they re missing the details. The fish was pan fried to the point that the outside was tough, but it was nicely cooked inside and seasoned. Overall the dish ate dry, and when I asked for some bernaise to help it, we were charged $4.00 for literally two tablespoons of sauce. Details like this feel like indicators of the establishment s attitude towards their customers - whether they are aiming to please, or serving them as ATMs The steaks were cooked well, however, and the beignets were outstanding - the sauce for them literally drinkable. We noted that we had a birthday at the table, however, but were not provided a dessert or other acknowledgement. Overall the food was ok, but a $400 bill demands better than that.

Great little steakhouse tucked away in the Sheraton hotel. It was a great place for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary. Food was excellent and service was solid!

Superb restaurant. The New York steak I got was delicious and the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Ill definitely be back. Kid-friendliness: Our child was able to join us with no issue.

Steakhouses are a thing for me, this is one of my favorites. Bartenders are awesome, managers cool, I came back to the city for the weekend to do it again.

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere

Server didnt smile until she saw her tip. I asked about about a sauce and if it would be good with the salmon, she just ssid no, not why, not another reccomendation. Very condescending as well, whereas other servers looked to happy to be there. French onion soup wasnt great, spinach dip was nice, The salmon was ok, not very flavorful, the blanched spinach was cold, not a great meal. Desert was nice, mocktail was refreshing. Would i come back here, absolutely not.

This has always been a great place to frequent, and take friends from out of town. This visit was quite disappointing in comparison to other times in the past. Certain items were no longer on the menu, such as prime rib and t- bone steak. The ribeye steaks that we did order were average at best. My reservation was missed, and we had to wait for almost 2 hours to get seated. Was not a good experience this time. Sorry!

When we stay at the hotel we usually end our evening with a drink at the bar. Its a nice restaurant/lounge with friendly service. Food

Its a Moxies with steaks. Had a prime rib. It was ok. The steak had no major flaws, but wasnt fantastic either. Service, same as a Moxies. Theyre well trained, and efficient, but always with an upsell. If you like a Moxies atmosphere, probably a good bet for you. I dont. Tastes differ. Thats ok.

We had our wedding service at Carvers a year ago and it was everything we could have hoped for. The food, staff and service were absolutely stellar. Greg made sure everything was perfect, and indeed, it was. Today we came back for our 1 year anniversary celebration, and Carvers did not disappoint. The food and service was . A shout out to Kass for making our night extra special ! Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Loved the atmosphere and the service was great. The steaks were quite good but the lobster was a little subpar.

Service was terribly slow, took 10 minutes to get our first drinks. Server had to come back to our table to confirm our food order. Then had to wait 40 minutes for our steaks to arrive, was given a half potato worth of whipped potatoes that I ordered. Server gave us caramelized onions that we didnt order or want. Came to Carvers to celebrate my new job position that Ive been working towards for the past couple of years and was severely disappointed in the service that I was provided with and therefore I didnt tip since the service didnt deserve one. Steaks also werent hot, mildly warm like they were sitting around for 10 minutes or more.

Wasnt overall impressed. The food was ok, and the service was poor. Very expensive for what you got

I had the most amazing experience at Carvers! I bought a new wedding ring for my husband and wanted to present it to him in a cute way, and the restaurant team was super accommodating. I got to bring in my own wine (for a fee, which was no big deal), they gave us a private space and lit up some candles, and they played my requested song after dinner. The food and service were just perfect! I cant say enough good things about this place, hopefully we can come back.

Amazing service. Britney (Manager) handled our reservation herself. Catered to our requests and gave us phenomenal service, made for a memorial night. Very appreciative of the lengths the staff is willing to go to make your special night, that much better. Would definitely go again. 10/10.

Celebrated our anniversary here tonight. No complaints. Food was excellent, steak cooked to perfection, service was amazing, and love the location downtown right by river. Would definitely recommend.

I hate being able to cook a better steak at home after you pay $58 for a meal, but here we are. Cool atmosphere, sit in the lounge if you can.

The service was best my wife and i have ever revieved. The waiter and his trainee were on top of everything. From food, drink questions to the service we recieved everying was beyond what we expexted. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the drink and food he served. We are sorry we cant remember his name but he highly recommend this place.

Good cocktails and beignets

This place is extremely over rated and over priced. The food is good, but it s not amazing. The Keg is much better, and cheaper. Our server and the hostesses had no personality. This place is lipstick on a pig. For a $200 bill it was a sad meal and experience.

Birthday celebration. Carvers was fantastic. Hats off to the Chef for perfect entrée & the dessert was delicious. The wait staff were awesome and easily deserved the tip. Thank your for making her night wonderful.

Loved the atmosphere. Ordered 2 drinks for a nitecap. It would have been nice to have clean glasses however. (Hubby wouldnt let me complain) We really hope the alcohol disinfected the glasses. The waiter apologized for the long wait but no bartender should serve a dirty glass.

This is as fancy as youd wanna get lol its a nice closed space which makes it feel secluded in that much more special. Overall, its a great spot to take a special date to. Just dont expect to be paying less than a 100 for the experience and the food. Sure its expensive but definitely worth it for those special dates.

This is the perfect restaurant for a special date night out. The filet mignon is out of this world (the same can be said for most of the entrees). Appetizers are good and the atmosphere is excellent. Of course the prices are steep but it is a worthwhile place to go for special occasions.

Drinks and appys. Waitress was sweet. Yay Kassandra, keep up the good work! Really wasnt very busy, but drinks took forever to come out. Too dark inside to see anything properly that we ordered. For top $ for food and bevvies, I want to see the presentation. Nice enough, but probably wont be back

Lovely ambience! The food was great and the service was great. I was looking for somewhere for a romantic dinner for a young couple and got what I was looking for.

Took a very long time to be served. The lobster tails were 24 dollars on the menu until the server notified me they raised the price due to a new supplier to 36 a tail. Pretty sure they are 8.99 at Safeway... When the meal arrived the potatoes were cold and we were never asked if we enjoyed our meal. The served didnt come back until we were finsihed. Very overpriced for mediocre food.

We booked a private dinning room with Carvers for our wedding dinner last month, and we couldnt be more satified with the service we got. They prep all of the orders the night before and even offered vegan options for a few of our guests. Everything went perfect and the food, of course, was amazing. A special thanks to Greg and Leah, for making this night unforgetable. We will definetly be celebrating our aniversary at Carvers!

Great flavourful food, a bit pricey but definitely worth it! Our server was absolutely amazing, I wish I could remember her name but this was some time ago, she had short light blonde hair. She was very attentive and kind, making our experience here awesome (even though we could tell she was busy)! Thank you and good job to her and the fabulous cooks behind the scenes!

Atmosphere is good and the waitress we had was great. Steaks did turn out tough and draft Stellas were stored in the fridge prior to serving. Classic place but dont know if Ill be back.

Steaks where cooked to temp perfectly & nice cuts. The dessert was a delight, and I would recommend the beignets for something fun. The experience however wasnt perfect, hence the 3 stars. Scallops could have been cooked less and the risotto could have used salt. The Old fashion and its black berry counterpart felt alittle sweet. The whole menu and restaurant felt shackled to the steakhouse formula and has unfortunately done so to its detriment.

Evening started off by being greeted at the door by a young man named LANDON, very very charming. Everything was perfect, the lighting, dark walls, red of the room, service and music. Tried steak and lobster, prawn appetizer, biggest shrimp ever, French onion soup We were able to bring in our own wedding cake, which they gladly served .

Very noisy, was hoping for a nice romantic evening, Couldnt even hear my partner from across the table. Steak was cold, and they took it back to reheat it. Both of our steaks were not good cuts of meat. Could buy better from our local butch shop. Lobster tail was very tough. Bathroom wasnt even in the resturant, hand to go down a hall way in the hotel area. Over charged for their meals that is not anything special. They didnt even give us a discount for the cold steak either. That will be the first and last time going to carvers.

I cannot say enough about Carver s. Service is always phenomenal and the menu is creative and delicious. We come here every time we re in Saskatoon. My kids enjoyed it as well.

I ordered sole wings and they were way undercooked. Asked what could be done about it and was informed a manager would give me a call, never received a call back or an apology. Maybe train your staff better?

My wife and I have been coming here every so often to celebrate our wedding anniversary since we moved to Saskatoon 20 years ago. Weve experienced wonderful food and service. Unfortunately, this last visit on August 29th was disappointing. The food was good but unfortunately the waitress failed to inform us of the recent change in the menu regarding the side dish - in particular the Wild Boar that was supposed to be accompanied with a side of leak tart. Usually the server informs of changes to the menu but in this case nothing was said. The waitress blew it off and no apologies or substitutes were given Surprising for a restaurant that prides itself of fine dining. We will not be coming here anytime soon.

This lounge is by far one of my favourites in Saskatoon. I have alway had an amazing time here. However this past Friday we were staying in the hotel for a birthday party. We were a party of 8 adults (over 40). After dinner we decided to stop in for a night cap. Our waiter was the rudest man I have ever encountered in the service industry, not only did he roll his eyes at us but he would walk away as we were ordering, he made us feel not welcome. We had one drink and left. ( I would like tho mention we were all dressed in button down shirts and the ladies had dresses and fancy outfits on so we were not violating any dress codes nor were we being loud or disrespectful.) This was very disappointing to our entire party

First off, service was IMPECCABLE! Our every request and every need was tended to. Wine list was amazing, top shelf liquor assortment was great and the food was AMAZING! Our party had steak, chicken & seabass - all cooked to perfection! The sides (truffle mac & cheese, roasted Brussels sprouts) were amazing! beautiful

The food was good (at least what what was actually available listed on the menu). Leek tart wasnt available with my wild boar dish, a certain dessert wasnt available and wasnt informed until what I could say was a 10 minute wait just to hear it wasnt available. I wasnt asked if I wanted another beer with my meal. Also service was very slow...and our leftovers werent given to us before we left (small annoyance) lol More cons than pros on our dinner unfortunately...

Easily a highly rated place. The bar tender Gillian (hope I got that right) was one of the better bar tenders I have seen. She created fantastic drinks and was very caring about the outcome. She made one where the colour was off so she remade it. I like when you can see the passion through their art. A fantastic quality cocktail is hard to come by and this place definitely did not disappoint. Very highly recommend for cocktails!

The patio was fantastic! Nice, clean, great view and warm in the evening. The sangria was tasty & reasonably priced, and the tuna poke bowl was fresh, filling and tasty. Good place for a relaxed meal and larger group.

Very nice place with fine dining

The ambiance and service was fantastic, while the cut of beef was average. All of the staff we dealt with were exceptional in their hospitality which really made the evening - they best Ive had in Saskatoon. While the food was definitely good, the steaks used were not the best choices for what was ordered (i.e. not cut thick enough for my taste). That said, because the service was so wonderful, Id be happy to go back again.

Perfect get away

Went there for the first time yesterday night, and as soon as we stepped into lounge all the staff glared at the 4 of us.. Then, our server spoke down to us like we werent good enough to be there and was really rude and had a negative attitude ONLY around us. Yes, we are younger than the average customer, but we dressed and acted appropriately. We did not deserve the treatment. We left before we would even order a drink. Other than that, it looks like a very nice, unique lounge. I am just guessing it was just one bad waitress...

Upscale and cozy setting with great food, get the tuna cones! I come here just for those!

The good was great and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable. They carry a selection of wines and spirits you wont find any other place. I strongly suggest Macallans 18 year scotch.

First time there and very disappointed. Wont return. Went with friends to enjoy a night out and was surrounded with 3 tables of loud drinks. So loud in fact the waitress was yelling the specials and we couldnt hear her. Unbelievable. Ordered Fries with my beef expecting a decent fry for a high end restaurant. They were worse than frozen package fries.

Beet Martini! I need say no more

Delicious! We werent able to make a reservation on Thursday for a Saturday sitting, but managed to snag a walk in table by showing up right at 5 pm. Extensive wine and scotch menu, but also 3 mocktails to try. I had the pomegranate juice one with blueberries - tasty and refreshing. Fresh sourdough buns were served while we checked the menu (but we knew what we wanted by checking the menu online ahead of time). Chicken livers to start were cooked perfectly in a yummy sauce Ive never had before. I selected the Carvers classic filet mignon and the caesar salad first course was almost a meal in itself! I prefer my steaks rare and it was perfectly cooked. The sweet red wine and shallot sauce was delightful and complemented my steak. Whipped potatoes on the side were seasoned, but I would have preferred a gravy with them. Perhaps the twice baked potato would have been a better choice, bit the portions were large and I couldnt finish the potatoes and cooked green beans (which tasted garden fresh) anyway. Definitely recommend coming here for your next fancy dinner out. The service team makes everyone feel at home, familiar, and like a special guest all at once. Unfortunately, I neglected to take photos this visit.
