663 Queen St E, Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6A 2A6, Canada
Indian restaurant serving traditional curries & biryani in a warm, relaxed atmosphere.
I went into the restaurant this evening. Glass for drinking water was dirty 🤢 and unwashed. The customer next to my table complained about meat in normal roti (chapati) Moreover, the table in front of me was full of leftovers for 30 mins. On the other side, there were other customers waiting for that table. The female at the counter was taking the customer (myself) as taken for granted. The restaurant owner should seriously focus on all these.
My favourite place in town to get butter chicken. Always fresh and consistent and the staff are always prompt and friendly. Definitely recommend!
Very rude staff, highly unprofessional. We made reservation for 8pm and arrived at 8:19pm when we were informed that they shut down at 8:30, so can’t take our order. This was quite surprising and unexpected. Please never trust them while making reservations.
I ordered Kadhai paneer and Dal Makhani. It was my worst experience of life. Dal makhni doesn’t have black lentil in it. Kadhai Paneer doesn’t have enough green-pepper 2-3 chunks of paneer and 10 pieces of tomatoes, feeling like eating tomato sauce. I called the restaurant and they said they have their on recipe. Then why it says traditional restaurant. I have the picture of both items and It says tandoori restaurant which serves frozen Naan’s.
The food here is really not good ,I ordered kadhai paneer but when I opened it and was going to eat it there was like just 5 pieces of cheeze and it felt like tomato soup because there were just big pieces of tomato swimming in the gravy and it was too oily and when we called to let them know about It they said it is how its made !!!. Then why the hell they call it a traditional restaurant 🙄
Really disappointed with the buffet. Not so many options available. Even small variety of cuisines doesn't hold the texture and spice. Not authentic at all if you are exploring indian authentic taste. No desserts at all. Just gajar halwa. What a joke. Three vegetarian options but you can make better at home. Shocking and surprising they cost buffet at $23. If you are exploring authentic taste please don't waste money here. I personally ordered food from here. The texture and spice level is different and I really like it. But talking about buffet, please don't waste money. Expectations are high especially when you don't have so many options available for buffet in sault ste marie. Hopefully this will change by the time.
This is a really excellent Indian restaurant. It is cozy and welcoming. The food is really good and really spicy though the biryani could have been better, but the overall experience is enjoyable. I loved how tender and juicy the lamb tikkas were, and the butter naans are fresh. Portion sizes are enough to be shared by two adults.
Food was amazing. I loved it and they have both veg and non veg options.
Delicious food Very excellent service Nice atmosphere Food : 5/5
Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is good and welcoming. The food is fantastic. Highly, HIGHLY recommend.
We get take-out. Its good.
Very arogent and rude staff. We came from Niagara Falls, we were standing for 20 minutes unattended once we asked for seating they were rude Very bad smell and actually resist please dont go there even free Furniture was darker, short tampered staff Be careful even going there
This place was really good but not anymore. I ordered panir tikka masala and garlic naan, it tastes so bad. Not fresh at all!!! In the paneer tikka masala, I got 4 mini prices of paneer only! Totally waste of money!
Hair found in the food!
Best place at all things I love it
Got dinner delivered last night, it was very tasty. The chicken tikka and chicken pakora appetizers were amazing and the portion size was fantastic. Great value for the money. Only got two vegetable samosas with my order, though it shows 3 on the picture. The pastry was also surprisingly hard. It was disappointing for $4. Asked for extra sauce with my beef curry and I think I got it, the container was full to the top. Very tasty, thank you. The naan included with the curry was wonderful. I wish I had gotten more. But I wanted to try the whole wheat paratha. That was a mistake. Not worth $4. It was dry, shattering hard and gritty. Too much flour unfortunately. With only two items that missed the mark, I m still happy with my purchase and will order again. Thank you for dinner!
Liked the Butter Chicken. Good service.
Foods are really tasty, especially the lamb curry
I have only been here once. I was able to try some rice, fish and two beef dishes (Jalfrezi and DopIiaza I believe) with naan. We also had some salads. I think my only regret was that I didnt go with the rice instead of the salad... Everything was delicious. The portions were not small. A table of four can all try them all and still have their fill. The server was very pleasant and helpful. I will certainly be back to try some other dishes...
Confused Biriyani or boiled rice with red chilli powder. Paid 21$ worthless.
As good as the best Indian food in Toronto. Check it out! Food
Always great food!
The food is good the staff not so good the service is even worse and the wait time on pick up is ridiculous they say 22mins i get there and i wait another 35mins jus standing there but u paid the second i walked in thinking I was getting my food right away nope not even
Fantastic
Tandoori Garden is awesome, generous portions and a fair price.
Terrible service and ambiance. Sat there for almost 15 mins before someone came to my table. Food was suppose to be medium heat i could barely handle the heat and i am a big fan of indian foods so i know it well. Finally i got a menu and withing not even a min brought me a pop with no straw or glass and asked me what i wanted. Not impressed at all !!!
The food is always really delicious. You will not be disappointed, even if all you order is a side of rice. The service is excellent, and staff are great. We were late to pick up our takeout order once, and they very kindly waited 10 minutes past closing time for us. Definitely recommend.
Biriyani 4/10 Starters 8/10 :chicken pakoras and kabab are really good. Will come back to try other menu items .
Ive been there a few times now, and every time, the food tastes better than before. Theyre the OG Indian food restaurant in the soo, and from my experience as a vegetarian, the food is the closest to authentic than anywhere around. The menu comprises of choice suited to both flavourful and spicy hot lovers. The ambience is cozy and soothing.
Arrived and was given two tables that weren t even the same size. We ordered shahi paneer and paneer vindaloo. Samosa platter to share came. Half an hour later the curries weren t there and we gave them 5 minutes to serve or else we would leave. Then the shahi paneer came . We asked about the vindaloo and they said we didn t even order it. The glass for water had dirt in it. Overall a terrible experience. Shahi paneer was too sweet and the naan was burnt. Terrible.
Excellent service, delicious dishes. fast serving of dishes. After visiting this restaurant, there were good impressions.
Food is delicious, upto expectations and excellent customer service. Vegetarian options: Bhindi masala better Parking: Rear side of the building,
Ordered for the first time and they shorted our order. Called back to see what they could do about it. Refused to deliver what we were shorted. Offered no sort of refund. The lady said next time we go she will give us more on our next order not sure I even will be ordering again. We didn t get what we paid for and ordered tonight, don t really care about next time. I ve had better customer service at McDonald s
Always delicious.
Best butter chicken!!! I crave it all the time!
Very delicious food, friendly ,clean and tasty !!
Delicious indian food and very good service!
Excellent meal, good portions. Chicken biriyani was good. Service was great.
Great food, Daal Soup was my favourite!
After reading the positive reviews, I decided to go for a dinner. They didnt disappoint me. I ordered a veg dish, which comes with rice or naan. I chose naan. The veg dish and naan were superb. All the best to the owners and the managing team, and staff.
Authentic flavors, delicious, the vindaloo actually had some kick.
Freshly prepared Halal food. Highly recommended. Will go again..
Best restaurant in town , Stopped by and taste their food while going to Toronto much better than all restaurants i tried so far!!
Worst food ever no taste in the food at all even no balance in the food
Serves the best indian food in Sault Ste Marie. The quantity and butter naan are amazing! Parking: Parking can be done right in front of pita pit on downtown
The service and smile by Manish was more than awesome to enjoy the taste of food.
5 star for service
After reading some very confusing review of Indian restaurants in Sault Ste. Marie, we decided to give a more informational review. We were looking for vegetarian Indian options, and this happened to be one of the three restaurant that were open at the time. The kitchen was about to close, but they were happy to take our order. We ordered the shahi paneer, kadhai paneer and dal makhni. Both paneer items were good but the dal makhni, which is usually a safer bet, was a disappointment. We also ordered a naan bread, roti and the aloo naan. All were good. The portion sizes are generous. Overall decent service and experience.
No matter what time you come, you will be well served even when you are away from home. Food was very good and very friendly service
Food was just ok, Butter Chicken you can try. Dal Makhani is like just a dal with tadka. Not near to dal makhani. If they sell Dal Tadka name I would give them 5 starts.
Nice place for Pakistani/Indian food. Loved the beef dopiaza and daal makhni.
Oh my God sooooo good! That is all
Tried this place since I was staying at a hotel nearby, friendly service from the staff, tried the paneer vindaloo with rice and garlic naan, and loved it. The vindaloo was quite spicy but perfect for my taste, rice was nice and fluffy, and naan was great for dipping. Give it a try
Amazing food
Taste of Biryani was not great. It had more of tomato flavor.
The food was great! Dine in experience with a very friendly experience. Overall we enjoyed!
The lady working there at the receptionist was very rude. Very unethical behaviour Food
Food had no taste at all. The lady working over there was so rude. Worst service. Very unhygienic. So unprofessional.
After trying several places in town, this was the best Indian food we ve found. Garlic naan, Chicken Goan it was all fantastic
You must try this restaurant If you want to know how the worlds most worst biryani tastes like. And the starters were served as if they were in some crisis. Parking: Its a street parking.
Delicious food, excellent service.
I ordered lunch today chicken korma with rice and a side of paneer naan. Their website says your order comes with rice, naan, or roti and the korma is $18.99. I got there and paid. They are now charging $2.00 on top of the price to get rice with it. This is not a gourmet restaurant and I was shocked at the cost and the size of the dishes it came with. So $18.99 for JUST the chicken korma with no rice or naan. Website is falsely advertising prices.
Shahmir, denied for dine in even the restaurant was empty and the used plates were there on the tables. I requested 2 times to clean the seats but he denied worst customer service at Tandoori Garden.
The food was delicious and the service was fast.
We asked for disposable glasses because the glasses they served in were not clean. I would rather say they were dirty. And I could hear the lady at the reception talking nonsense about the amount of food me and my friends ordered. They are not fit for customer service.
We had a visit and they served us 3 glasses of water and the glasses were not clean. So we asked for the disposable glasses as my wife is having health issue, server went back to receptionist & she was shocked why we asked to change the glasses. & then we only ordered little amount of food & she was shocked again & was like Seriously? somebody came out from kitchen & she told him about it, guy looked at us & she laughed for some reason. Lady was reacting in disbelief. I would never recommend anyone visiting there.
Waited for 20 mins did not even get a table
Ive never been to Tandoori Garden, but I know the manager and he said I can eat for free.
Best Indian cuisine in the Sault. And good value.
Out here to officiate soccer games we were looking for a halal restaurant in the area. The food was really good, friendly staff and service was good as well. Parking: Behind the restaurant
Uncooked, tasteless food. Cant understand how this place has 4 stars, really not good. Dirty glasses. Do yourself and your stomach a favour, go elsewhere.
I have ordered Panner Tikka Masala along with Naan. Unfortunately, I barely got the Panner pieces, they added all the green peppers and Tomato gravy.
Decent at best
Had a beautiful experience there. The lady who attended our table was so welcoming.. Food was also really good..
Good Indian food.
The worst Indian cuisine we ve ever had in our lives. Insanely small portions for very expensive, butter chicken and paneer tasted like squash soup with no flavour or spice. They also forgot our kheer. If you want to have the worst Indian food for maximum price go here.
Tried their food....now Im scarred for life
Amazing food, awsome service, nice butter chicken curry, love the service
My friend and I went to this restaurant to eat. In this restaurant, there is a female employee who takes the customers order. He did not behave well. He didnt treat me and my friend right and he doesnt have good manners and he doesnt treat customers well. My friend and I wish we didnt go to this restaurant. Our day was ruined. I wanted to have lunch there, but our order was too late. We could not have lunch in the restaurant. We took our food and left.
Authentic awesome dishes. Great customer service.
Excellent food and service!
Not fresh food me and my family visit they not serve fresh food we all family have food poisoning
Was nice..nice sitting arrangement and buffet menu was varied
Absolutely Delicious. Some of the best Indian food Ive had. Will definitely be back!
Always favourite
Always great tasting food, generous portions and excellent friendly service.
The waitress was great the food kind of warm not hot upon arrival. The rice pudding was way too sweet. The price was fair but that was it
We chose this for dinner as it was at walking distance from our hotel. Its at a prime location and food is good too. There was ample of seating space but always call before as they close early. Warm hospitality and good food, what else can you ask for? Quantity was sufficient to feed 2 humgry people.
Really good food considering the limited halal options that are available
It was so so, we had bhindi masala and kadahi paneer. Please ask to server for not to put too much tomato gravy.
Food was amazing. Coffee and tea werent Indian style
For the price it is pound for pound the best middle Eastern cuisine in the district. Always a crew of friendly serving staff, fresh garlic naan and a delicious special everyday. Yesterdays butter chicken was phenomenal. The interior could use a bit of an update but the menu needs to stay exactly how it is. DELICIOUS.
Excellent spicy dishes and service in French!
Had the beef korma. Was thick and creamy, and the beef was fresh. Will happily come back here next time I m in Bawating.
Very nyc food
Come for taste
Great little place to eat Indian food. Same taste always.
Nice food - had some Lamb,halal meat comes with Sysco;
Authentic, delicious, good service. It is a really good place!
Tried thier chicken Tikka & seekh kabab and deal makhni ... overall not a bad experience but BBq wasnt BBQ on grill seekh kabab were not juicy ... Naan and Rotis were good
Awesome Indian food. The best in Soo
Its to expensive restauran specially for the new comers.
First time at the restaurant, ordered lamb biryani, beef karahi and garlic naan. Food was impeccable, happily feeds 4. Service was also courteous and friendly, amazing experience overall.
Great taste, best Indian restaurant in town.
The best and authentic Pakistani & Indian restaurant in Soo. Their service & hospitality is impeccable and the staff is friendly. Their BBQ and butter chicken is a must have! Great place for family dinner.
Ordered lamb biriyani for dine-in and butter chicken, beef korma and lamb curry for takeout. The lamb biriyani was delicious and moist unlike other restaurants where you find the biriyanis to be a bit dry. The curries tasted equally good and you will be amazed by the portion of meat you will find
Went for the Sunday buffet and felt it was unsatisfying . There are rice, nan, samosas, 2 kinds of veggie curries, 2 kinds of chicken curries and noodles which are available all the time. Plus there is Chicken Tikka, which was the only item that felt really good, but the pot was always empty. Staff didn t fill it up frequently. Kheer, the dessert was okay. 22 dollars for this buffet is overpriced.
Food was great but service was slow.
Food was mediocre but was ok, we enjoyed it anyway. No plans to go back.
Chicken korma was good.
Excellent service. We came in late and the staff were very accommodating and willing to whip something up for us. We were very hungry. The portions are massive! The butter chicken was the best Ive ever had. Pity I live in Alberta. Thank you, staff!!!! Amazing!
Amazing food!! Great prices. Authentic experience. A must try in the Soo!
We were traveling and stop by for dinner, our whole group (10 People) enjoyed the food. We have tried many dishes, food was enough and delicious. Defiantly we will visit again
Went for all u can eat on Sunday. Food was fresh, hot and warm. Ice in your water lol. Service is always excellent. Cant beat the 20$ price tag.
Great food and a good price.
Best food in ssm, great for takout parties
The food is average. You guys have resources to do better!
I was traveling and had a stop in Sault Ste Marie. I ordered the Palak Paneer and lentil soup. Super delicious! The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well. I ll definitely visit again next time I am passing through.
Addicitvley delicious Butter chicken!
Great food ..portions are a small...order extra for 2 people...otherwise great food
Good food! Dec prices
My husband and I got sick after eating from here! We are new in town and we were excited to give this restaurant a try, We love Indian food but this restaurant taste nothing like the Indian dishes we used to eat and on top of that it gave us a food poisoning although we ate just a bit and throw the rest in the garbage! We do not recommend it at all.
Delish!
Delicious Paneer tikka, must try.
The food was so delish!! First time trying it... Now on the take-out roster
Samosa
I never thought that I will be getting so good food from this place, prices are a bit on the higher sided but, the food deserves kudos... being an Indian, I had tasted a food filled with authenticity and taste... Thanks for those young folks who are working relentlessly in the kitchen... Loved the Mughlai and Tikka masala... nans were also very well crafted...
The food was so good
In the comparative race of Price and taste, taste wins by far. Better food than the most restaurant options in Sault.
Amazing food and service. We always order the beef korma and chicken Tikka Masala. Amazing.
We arrived 20 minutes before closing time. The order was taken and food served promptly. The food was tasty without being spicy and had an authentic feel to it. On another day we went to Taj cuisine and if you are ever debating between two, choose Tandoori Garden. It is easy on pocket and food is much better. The only thing I would suggest owner is to somehow improve the ambience. The place looks just a bit jaded. For food itself, i would have given 5 star ; 4 star because of ambience.
I would describe this restaurant in few words, extremely good food, on the other hand, very bad administration in handling customer, I would highly advise the owner to work on the restaurant administration to get advantage of the good food and quality he provides. I do recommend this restaurant, but be patient when picking up the order!
Excellent customer service and Delicious food
By far some if the best Indian food Ive tried. Simple , flavourful and thoughtfully prepared. Always leftovers to enjoy the next day!. Lovely friendly staff!
Best Indian Ive ever had.
Had the worst daal makhani today. It was absolutely 3rd class. I waited 35 minutes for my order. Rice and roti was good, but daal makhani was a joke. Please learn and do better when making the best Indian daal for your customers. Also, as a courtesy, add some napkins, plate, fork and spoon the the bag when you know the order is to go, not dine in. I really wanted to give two stars for this review but gave three stars because the customer service was good.
Tasty food, good customer service and nice menue.
Ordered takeout to our hotel - the best Indian food i have had and i have tried many places. Wish i lived here!
Im not from Sault Ste. Marie but Im visiting for work and was craving Indian food for dinner so I gave this place a try. I ordered the meat platter from the appetizer menu which was really a small plate, definitely not a platter. It was alright. It had two kinds of meat, one kind of pakora and one samosa. My disappointment was with the main dish. I ordered the butter chicken which is a classic Indian dish thats on every single Indian restaurant menu. I was very underwhelmed for several reasons. First of all, quantity. The amount of chicken was very little. They gave me a huge plate of white basmati rice and small portion of butter chicken. Definitely not proportionate. Secondly, it did not taste like butter chicken. It tasted like a regular chicken dish with sauce but definitely not butter chicken. Butter chicken is supposed to be creamy and the sauce is supposed to be thick. This dish was neither. It also didnt have the garam masala flavour thats usually in every butter chicken recipe. Another thing that upset me was WATER. I only asked for a cup of water and it came at room temperature. Not even a little bit cold. And it was served to me in a small plastic cup. Shouldnt it be glass for any dine in restaurant?
Very affordable and large portion sizes for the cost. I tried the samosas, chana masala and dal makhani. The samosas were delicious and well spiced, and the dal makhani was rich, tasty and had a perfect level of spice. The chana masala was a little underwhelming in my opinion as it was a bit bland for my taste but if you are someone who cant handle spice then it may be a good option for you. There were many vegeterian options on the menu which is nice for if you are dining with vegetarian friends.
Great food! A bit expensive tho. But the tea wasnt that good.
The butter chicken is very good and a friend told me about going in here and it being a staff party. They were closed but left the door open. They invited my friend in and packed up food for him and his family for free instead of sending him away. This makes me want to eat here more and more. Please give a place with good morals and great customer service your business.....i know i will. It is so hard to find these days.
All dishes taste the same. I guess the made one gravy and uses it for all the dishes. The food was tasless. I order chicken Jalfrazi and beef karaye No difference in the taste except for the chicken and beef taste. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone.
Well they only get 1 star from me because I ordered chicken biryani and it was the worst I have ever eaten Lamb curry was ok but not great at all Ordered butter chicken for little one that was ok only thing I like was Nann plus it was over priced
Great food, great service.
The food was taste
Always consistent and NEVER disappoints!
Absolutely delicious food and very good service! There were plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. Well be back again sometime!
Dined in and ordered chicken biryani and palak paneer. The palak paneer serving was surprisingly larger, but the roti was lacking. The spices in the biryani was good, enjoyed the taste. Ample parking at the back of the restaurant as well which I appreciate.
Good food
We ordered Shahi paneer, cholee, chilli paner along with plain n paner naan. All dishes were very good authentic in taste. Loved the paner naan so soft n delicious.
I ordered chicken curry and two naan, naan were great but curry was soggy, no salt and worsen test I have ever tried.
I was badly craving a biryaani. I had read a previous review on this place that they serve white rice with curry on top mix it together and call it a biryaani. I checked with waiter if this is what to expect when ordering a biryaani. At first he denied and then admitted to it. He suggested I order karahi lamb instead. The karahi lamb was full of onions tomatoes and peppers with very few pieces of lamb in it at all. I appreciated the honesty but they seriously need to take biryaani put of the menu and call it curry with rice. Their meat dishes shound include well........meat!
Good service. Good food. Good prices.
Superb
Excellent food! Had paneer tikka masala
First time here!!! Loved the food so much! The receptionist lady is so friendly!! Highly recommended
Delicious
All the reviews this restaurant have are fake. i went to this restaurant on 25 Oct 2021 at 20:30 and ordered food. Chicken Mulgai and chilli chicken with 4 garlic naan. when I went to pick up food I asked them is everything ok or perfect in side the parcel was sealed and the lady said it s sealed and all good and I came back to my hotel, they didn t put a single napkin or any disposable spoon etc. I called them and found the behaviour was really rude. Anyway I disconnect my call and focused on my food as I was hungry. Then I found it s the rubbished food I have ever tried in my life. I m an Indian (Punjabi) and I know how this food taste like the Naan I order was not cooked fully and the Chicken Muglai I had wasn t cooked properly but the chilli chicken was okay. Be careful from these frauds as they have above 4* rating. Tc.
The food was absolutely delicious, thank you Tandoori.
The best food Ive had this restaurant is the place to go in the soo sooooooooo good cant say enough good
Always friendly, clean and the food is amazing.
Super tasty food! Their butter chicken is the best butter chicken Ive had so far! Prices on the costly side but are matched with super big portion sizes. One meal could feed two! Their service is really friendly and Ive always had a great experience eating there. Their catering services are also absolutely fantastic and one of the best in town! I used to work and volunteer at the university when I was a student and we used their catering services all the time! They were always so reliable and provided great food!
Good authentic food. Liked pakora, paneer tikka. Chicken tikka was raw and disappointed with chicken biryani. Its not chicken biryani, looks like tomato pulov with chicken.
I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately it was terrible. Friendly PSA: the food as no flavour other than tomato and cream. Its not authentic. For some reason we ordered Biryani and got butter chicken. Also for some reason the butter chicken had eggs in it?? It would be nice to know that and as someone with an egg allergy I unfortunately bit it before I noticed. Since when does a curry have egg without mentioning it in the description?? Just.... No.
Fried chicken was ok. But Biriyani need improvement.
Great place for Indian food in the Soo. Got the Paneer Vindaloo and although it was labelled as 4 chillies (very spicy), it was the perfect amount of spice and very flavourful. The naan/garlic naan is soft yet crispy, and the kheer was a soothing palette cleanser to balance the spicy curry. Highly recommended for an eastern flavour craving in town!
meh, made for people that cant handle their spice or picking out seeds. not the same as places in Mississauga or Toronto but its still good.
This is my first time at this place I just got 2 lamb biriyani they told me it will take 20 minutes but it took longer I waited got the food went home unfortunately they don t know how to make biriyani it s rice and lamb just mixed hopefully they will correct this
A dish for everyone. Gotta find yours
Customer service ok.but briyani needed improvement.
One of the worst experience I had at tandoori garden that the food is not tasted as Indian food at all. most the food i had looks frozen entries. service was terrible. looks like out dated restaurant , Although it is away overpriced. For me and my girlfriend to have a full meal each without getting anything extra or unnecessary besides two coke and after-meal one coffee, it cost us $90.
Delicious food and nice service. What I like most , of their marination which gives a beautiful taste and a flavour.
My favourite Indian food in SSM! Palak Paneer is my absolute favourite and always consistent with taste and portions. They also make it specially spicy for me when I ask! I found them accommodating to dietary preferences as I sometimes like to lay off the dairy and always friendly on the phone and in person. Their specialty Naan is to die for!!! Paneer is my favourite but I like them all. Other dishes I have tried are the Vindaloos, Korma, and appetizers have all been consistently delicious and never have an issue. I have never dined in the restaurant but it always looks well kept and have seen some tables of food that are beautiful and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Now I m hungry! ...
