Stop for all day breakfast or come in for a grab and go panini from our deli. The Blockhouse Pub offers fast options and large portions!
Our server was amazing- they accommodated our complicated order easily with no issues, the food was 10/10 delicious. Portion sizes are huge! Drinks are cheap. Rueben was our favourite, and the eggplant sandwich is a great veggie option! Vegan-friendly, they will make it happen. Too full for cheesecake but wish we could’ve tried it, maybe next time.
Had an amazing time. Their Soo Falls Lager is delicious. Not a 100% sure, but this beer gives notes of honey and nutty. Since I'm not sure, I have to go back again today:). Our waitress Olivia provided us with solid menu suggestions. The Pub Burger is extremely good. As well as the Smashburger. And of course, you can not visit Canada and not get the Poutine. Thanks again, Olivia. Definitely putting vinegar on french fries when we get back to Houston, Texas.
Watched our food sit in the kitchen "window" for almost 15 min while our server cashed out a large party with separate checks while other servers sorted cutlery and menus. Service was super slow (likely due to large party) that's not my problem. Had to get up 3 times to ask about daily soup and sandwich, draught beer available and for another round. Food quality was very good and portions were also good. If you can afford to wait a long watching people do everything but bring you your food, then this is the place for you.
Great food options. Large portions. Food is hot and very good. Open concept so can get noisy when full. Service was attentive.
Everything I ordered was great. The Caesar I ordered was well made. The stuffed burger was delicious. Their coleslaw was also very good. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was impressive. I felt like I was in another city because of how modern it was and I was really happy about the amount of natural light in the restaurant. The price seemed a little steep when I got my bill however I will be returning.
(Posting this as a longtime sandwich guy) FINALLY the Soo has a signature sandwich! The BIGFOOT (12”) Ciabatta is a massive meat bomb of a sandwich. Layer upon layer of sweet & salty meaty goodness with melty cheese, special sauce & jalapeños for just a bit of a tasty kick. Served hot & so delicious. Incredible! Side Dill Fries were also amazing. Awesome Caesar too. Huge portions. Great value. Go get a Bigfoot!
First time in the Sault, our server, Paige, was awesome, gave us some history on the building and area! Definitely will be back in the future! Menu and pricing were fair and the chef definitely knew what they were doing in that kitchen!
I ate here on a Saturday around 1pm. The breakfast and lunch menus were available. I ordered the Healthy Quinoa & Black Bean Burger and upgraded to sweet potato fries. This is pretty much the only option for vegan/plant-based eaters besides salad. (I’m a plant-based eater.) The burger was falling apart and it tasted like it had been fried in overused lard or bacon grease. I didn’t mind the falling apart; I “glued” it back together with ketchup but the flavor of the oil it was cooked in took away from the burger’s taste, which was pretty good. Sweet potato fries were skinny and crispy and good. The coleslaw was good, just not much of it. Our server was excellent and very friendly. The kitchen is out in the open and the entire restaurant has an industrial vibe. It was pricier than I expected, but the quality was good.
Dietary restrictions: Vegan friendly and very accommodating Food
We had reservations Saturday for my Fathers 94 Birthday. We ordered our food and drinks. I had to go get the waitress an hour later for a beer and a glass of wine. Still no dinner at that point. We ordered burgers and wings nothing special after 2 hours waiting we ended up getting our food in take containers that we all ate the next day. SO NO DINNER NOT CHEAP AND WHAT REALLY PISSES ME OFF IS IT WHAT WAS FOR Dads BIRTHDAY. WILL NEVER VISIT AGAIN.
Great hidden gem in the Canal area of town, huge choice of tasty food! Lots of space plus clean scenery around the building and safe parking. A must try at the least.
A very interesting pub near the Casino in the Soo, food and drinks are good and reasonably priced.
the chefs special dill chicken wrap today was fabulous - please consider adding it to the regular menu!
The service was bad. Any time I ve went my meal has come slowly (with a party of 3 or 4). The food is pretty good though. Like others have said we watched our food sit in the window for quite a while. The atmosphere is pretty cool, with big TVs and an industrial type of look. I would go only if you have time to kill.
Three couples ordered lunch for the train ride on October 3. There was only one lunch in the bag instead of two. We didnt discover until we were on the train. If you do get a lunch here, double check it before you leave the Blockhouse.
We have been coming to the Blockhouse for a long time. We have had many excellent meals but lately not the case. Today we tried again. Breakfast was ok but definitely not the quality of the past. Menu has dropped some favorites. I dont mind paying for a good meal but not worth the cost at this point. Bacon is small and looks like a precooked meat. Amounts are small. Hollandaise sauce just tastes like a cheap cheese sauce. Our last lunch meal we ordered Reubens and they were so fatty the grease dripped from the meat. Previously we had reubens that had been fried to jerky level and had little sauce. The waitress offered to fix it and we could tell she wasnt even happy when she brought back the replacement and offered to take it back again. The wait staff has been very nice but the price is not worth the quality
Fantastic breakfast; one of the best spots in town. We had 5 different dishes and everyone left happy and full. The meals blew the local breakfast-only restaurants out of the water.
We dined here for brunch on a Sunday with our 1 year old knowing it would be busy so we asked how long of a wait it would be. The server said not long at all. My husband saw we could eat outside so we went to the patio. We arrived around 11:20am and waited until 12:30 for our food with a busy one year old. The server only came out to check on us once after taking our order, offering coffee, not saying anything about longer wait times then didnt come out again for another 40 mins. When I received my food (the clergue) it looked like hot dogs on a bun when it had said it was scrambled eggs, French toast, sausage & bacon. The French toast was a hot dog bun that barely tasted like French toast. The server brought out our food but no plate for our baby making him wait another 5 mins after we received our food for a plate to eat off of. I have worked in the service industry and this was one of my worst experiences. I can understand longer wait times due to the hour on a Sunday however none of this was communicated to us and we were avoided the entire time whether intentionally or not. We usually enjoy coming here, but have had negative experiences before. We wont be returning for a long while. I hope the service improves or at least the communication.
Our meals were fantastic and the Peach Bellini was very good!!!
My wife and I are Sooites who have been living in Windsor for the last almost 30 years. During an impromptu visit to the are we were pleased to discover the Blockhouse, and indeed the entire Canal District. We had an excellent snack lunch, before having a lovely long stroll and coming back elsewhere for dinner! Bravo! When were in The Soo, this will absolutely be a stop for us! Cant wait till the Micro Brewery is up and running too Cheers!
Fab food. Fab service. Incredible restored heritage building. The only thing that gets a little mark down from me is the TV screens showing loads of sports- but for some that will be a bonus.
I have been to the Blockhouse for lunch in the past. At that time, it was an excellent atmosphere, service and food. However, today our party of four arrived just before noon and at 1:10, we still had not received our food! Two of our party had to leave as one of us has diabetes and had to eat ASAP.. it was a frustrating and disappointing experience .
Seated at 12:10, nobody came by they forgot us. We had to point this out to them, and they finally took our order at 12:45. I think she probably forgot to put it in, as she came by at 1:25 telling us it would be another 15-20 min. My friend had to leave at this point. Food finally arrived at 1:45 was good, but no cutlery or napkins! At this point, we made do and ate it all rather messily. So, terrible service overall, to which they admitted Drinks were comped. Mind you, I had only a diet coke, so while my friend saved $20, I saved $3 sadly I won t be going back, and I strongly advise against this place for lunch.
Good food and some uncommon options like the gourmet grilled cheeses. Good beer on tap. Just pretty pricey for the portion sizes would be the only complaint.
Love this area the restaurant is in a great space and you can check out the area / walk over to the national historic site. The food is good and plentiful. Lots of choices and love the all day breakfast option!!!
The food is delicious and our server (Drew A )was an awesome guy. There were 10 of us and two kids . Parking: Lots of good parking . beautiful place.
Great food great service great drinks, super cute and a great place! Spicy ceaser was fabulous
Bring your appetite for the large portions. Great breakfast.
Great Burgers!
It was my first time eating there and had a disappointing experience. We came as a group but sat on different tables. All our group members were happily eating their food, also did the customers that arrived after us. We had to bug and bug them to get our food out and finally we told them that when u get our food out, bring us take out containers as well. Then we asked for the bill but still waiting on the food. We had only limited time as we were going to be late for work. Waitress brought the debit machine but stopped at another table and chatted with the guys there while we were waiting. When our food arrived, we literally had 5 mins left of our lunch hour. So we just packed it to go so we can be on time for work. We did not want to be make a scene but I can not believe how this restaurant treated us.
Food was fantastic!!!! 100% worth eating at. However the service this day was terrible!!!!!! Made reservations for 6:00 but showed up early 4:00. The rest of our crew was rock climbing next door. After sitting here for 30 minutes I asked who was our server. Was told your reservations are for 6:00 I guess dont expect to be served until you reservation. Kegs not working and Pepsi not working. Food 9-10 Service 3-10. This day anyway.
Im leaving a 5-star review because my food was great and the waitress assigned to our table was so sweet and good to our group. I really do enjoy Blockhouse Pub and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal. Great selection of apps and awesome breakfast. To the other waitress who helped her serve our food, you need to check your attitude. The next time you slam a plate of food down in front of one of my friends, I wont leave a review, I will stand up and say something to you. I dont care who you are or what brand of ball cap youre wearing. You are lucky that plate didnt slip or spill with the force you applied to it. You are a waitress and your behaviour is a reflection of the establishment. We all noticed how rude and impatient you were. The dirty look you gave me as I was leaving sealed the deal for me. Do better.
Food is great!!
I love this place, absolutely my favourite place to eat in the Sault. The servers are kind and seem happy waiting on us. The food is just intensely amazing, Ive had something different most times I go, and I have nothing bad to say. The open concept makes it so you can see your food being prepared, and the smell is amazing. Great environment for families, dates, social gatherings and even just lunch by yourself!
Very quiet corner with, great menu, and a warm atmosphere. Charming hostesses and a clean environment. Very attentive staff and reasonable wait times for food. I had a Mac & Cheese Grilled cheese and wow what a heart-stopper. Amazing flavor and thick-cut bread make every bite a very filling wholesome one. Taking half home for later, definitely a place I will revisit on my next tour of this city. Thank you staff.
Great service Very busy, we made a reservation to get seated right away Food
nice place with delicious foods
I was finishing my boardwalk tour and wanted to stop in for a beer with my dog, my leashed quiet dog wasnt allowed in the establishment. Unfortunate.
I was one of 16 people in a group all wearing sports team jerseys on Apr 29. It was a breakfast occasion. Our server was Amber. She looked after all of us in an excellent manner. We had a variety of dishes. The food was excellent. We had an enjoyable time.
Ive eaten here a couple times and I have no real complaints. The first time here I had a burger that was wrapped in bacon, I forget what it was called but its no longer on the menu. I consider myself to be a dedicated Reuben Sandwich enthusiast so I tried that my 2nd go around here. Theyre doing a decent job, good bread, pastrami, kraut, swiss and dressing. I wish the onion ring were hand cut and breaded but thats just me be nitpicky. The Breakfast Homefry Pountine is a interesting choice, definitely more of a late breakfast/lunch item for sure. The wait staff is friendly and attentive, and I didnt find the food wait time or prices to be out of line. All day breakfast is a nice option as well. Give this place a try. Parking: Large lot, plenty of spaces to choose from.
Amazing, absolutely wonderful. Ive tried a few different dishes here and while they may each contain a few items, I just dont understand how the taste could be so amazing but it just goes to show that only a few items and a little bit of love is all that is required to make food taste absolutely delicious. The Greek salad is out of this world. When most restaurants cut back on good quality ingredients, this place thrives to provide good taste and fresh amazing ingredients. Im new to the Soo and have tried a few other places which I will not name. No other place comes close to this place. Amazing food, beautiful place with vast history, and second to none service. Thank you Blockhouse for giving me and my family the most amazing experience weve had for quite some time. Keep up the good work. Im always open to try other places but unfortunately nothing is comparable to the quality and the taste you provide. Cant wait for the next time we come to your place.
Had a wonderful experience for lunch here! Thank you so much, Amber, you were amazing!! :)
Went with my wife for our anniversary. Excellent in every regard. Very clean and spacious service was prompt and friendly and great food. Highly recommend a visit !!!!
We love the Blockhouse!! We find ourselves just going back again and again for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Well priced and excellent food and service every time!!
Got the Clergue special, very yummy! Cool atmosphere and design choices, great coffee as well !
The Smashburger is the best I have ever had! The server staff are awesome too!
Chicken sandwich when served was clearly raw on the inside. Waitress took it back and they made another which took time. They took a total of $1.60 off the meal to compensate. Insulting. Never go back again....
Best Pea soup in Town.
Highly recommend the Buffalo Chicken and Bacon grilled cheese! Waitress was friendly and efficient and the place has a nice vibe.
My choice of meal was greasy. Fries were good, fish was greasy. Service was excellent.
They dont have a proper system in place with online orders. Dont bother ordering their lunch packs for your trips since they wont be ready for your early morning arrival. Whats the point of ordering 48 hours early if nothing is ready for the morning pick up? Just go to local subway for cheaper and accurate service.
Waited forever on a Sunday. Server never came to see me or check in with me. Waited over an hour for my food.
Changed my rating from 4 stars to 2. Went for brunch today. We ordered our food at 11:40. Didnt get it until 12:50. Our waitress was apologetic but we should have been told the kitchen was that slow.
Get the smash burger,,,fast and friendly staff
Good food. Fast service. Pleasant staff. My only complaint...they dont stock Molson Canadian but we made do.
We had a most delicious lunch on Friday. The building is beautifully done and the sports shop is an interesting stop. Im giving it top rating because it was such a good experience all round.
Great breakfast, great location! Had eggs, bacon and French toast! Well worth the visit :) we will be back!
Waffles tasted stale, left a bitter taste in mouth afterwards. Wouldnt recommend.
The food was phenomenal!! Staff was very friendly and I highly recommend the honey garlic chicken wrap and dill pickle fries.
We (six) came for breakfast. The breakfast menu had plenty of selection. The items we ordered were all excellent and plentiful. The service was fabulous. Take note: this is a sports pub rather than a pure restaurant so expect that it can get noisy. Also, the air conditioning works very well so eat quickly because hot items will cool off quickly too. All told, an excellent location and apparently fairly new too. Enjoy. Parking: Parking lot next to the station from which the Agawam Canyon train tours leaves - lots of space.
Incredible breakfasts and lunches. Great selection and generous serving size. Staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.
Good food and service. A hidden gem. Wont disappoint.
We ordered lunch for the Agawa train trip. It was supposed to include water. We didn t get any water so had to purchase water on the train. So we paid for water twice. When we returned and to the restaurant to complain they didn t seem to care and said it was the train companies fault. This is not true, we dealt with them. Terrible place!
I had brunch here. They have a very good menu with plenty of options. The staff was very friendly and the food was hot and fresh. I will definitely go here again when I come to town
A great place to meet for lunch. Hannah was welcoming and an amazing waitress. The food was good and Tony Porko uneven came to say hello.
Was warned meal would be about half hour, which was ok but was closer to an hr. My son had to order several types of beer for they had one in stock. They forgot my wine completely. Food was hot but the quality was nothing extra special. Waitress never once came back to check on things.
We decided to try this pub out after our train tour for dinner. We were seated promptly and that was the only positive thing I can say about the staff. We were not acknowledged once even though 2 of your waitresses walked past us several times. When the water was served to us by having the glasses slammed down on the table, the waitress did not acknowledge us or answer when we thanked her. We waited another 10 minutes watching as servers continually walked past our table and not once were told we ll be right with you they weren t even busy. We ended up walking out and again without anyone acknowledging us. Worst service I have ever experienced.
We ordered their Box Lunch for the Agawa Canyon train tour. It was gross! Dry sandwich with canned fruit cocktail!! Dont order it!!!
ordered the box lunch (roast beef sandwich, turkey sandwich) for 2 of us for our Agawa Canyon Tour this past weekend. There was enough cold cuts on the ciabata bun, but it was extremely dry, even though there was mayo and ranch dressing included. Even if lettuce was added, it might have been less dry. Included in the lunch was a small baggie of carrots, a pre-wrapped cookie, apre-packaged fruit cup and a bottle of water. Pretty expensive at $22 each. yikes. Not impressed, Im afraid.
Too many dirty tables when we walked in (13 which all sat 4 or more so really 26 dirty tables). Menu said Kaiser bun for the hot Italian sandwich but I got served a Hamburger bun, they are not the same thing. Soup was good. I loved the space and decor. Lots of comfy seating options. Will be back to try it again and hope that the space is more clean and items come out as advertised. Service was lack luster and waitress made me feel rushed to order (without making recommendations or explaining the menu in anyway, they gave four different menus when you sit down lots to absorb) and then quick to take payment. She was nice enough but I just wish she had engaged about the food options or tried to up sell us in any way. What do you want?
Both Quantity and Quality are good. We had our dinner after returning from the train tour. The restaurant is in the same building of the train station. Big shout out to Katina for taking good care for us. Definitely going back if we are around.
Honestly what a terrible first impression of this place. My family went for breakfast and were seated quickly but that was the last of the quickness. We ordered eggs benny x 2 and a breakfast sammy. 75 mins later our food arrived. Over cooked eggs and a sad hollandaise were sent back. It seemed like having only 1 cook on a Saturday morning wasnt a good scheduling choice. You couldnt help but feel sad for the staff other tables were leaving without food due to the long wait. Management set them up for failure.
A Racist place. We decided to try this pub after our Agawa Canyon Train tour ended as it was just next door. We were told that we will have to wait as the open tables are reserved. We waited for 20 mins and a table cleared and we moved there. We asked the server to clear the table and to give the menu a few times but they kept walking past our table, without acknowledging, so i went up to the front and asked the lady for a menu. Again she did not share the menu and said it would take sometime. After we got seated, 4 other couples came who were seated and served dinner. We then saw a bunch of cooks pointing at us and laughing. Finally we realized that they had no intention of serving us, so we decided to leave and thanked them for the horrible service. It was clearly evident that they were doing it purposely. In a service industry how you behave with customers matters more than how your food is. We ended up going to Fratellis who also had a waiting but treated us with respect and served us well. Shame on Blockhouse pub for such a behavior.
Veggie wrap was good.. Chickpea salad is a rip-off - too much turmeric in it with absolutely no taste. For the Agawa train trip, better to take food elsewhere or from home, than relying on this food..
I asked for a house salad and they gave me lettuce that was already rotting. No attention to detail, theres no reason that should have come out of the kitchen.
Busy Dinner with an open kitchen bright open atmosphere. The food is good and staff are friendly and courteous.
Sandwich was hard to pick up and eat due to soft runny filling....but was tasty.
