Johnny's Chophouse & Bar in Sault Ste. Marie

I dont usually leave reviews, but after visiting the Johnny Chop house, I thought it really deserved one. Decided to try out this place after visiting the mall. Im so happy I stopped by. I had cheese sticks and the ribs with mashed potatoes with veggies, and it was so delicious. Im in town for school, and I dont have a kitchen in my unit and want to stay away from greasy fast food. The way the food was cooked was exactly the way I was expecting. The service was pretty good. When I came into the restaurant, the male server asked if I wanted to sit in the bar or dining area. He seemed polite. Brought me water and extra napkins. The food did not take too long to come out. While I had my food, he came to check if I needed anything. Seemed professional with serving. The atmosphere seemed great. Not too many people, there were groups of friends by the bar it didnt seem loud, it had the relaxing dining experience while seeming like a classy place to go. Good place to go for a couples nifht, or family or with some friends. Will be back again for sure.

It was all quite good. The Mrs. and I had two dinners there, plus the complimentary breakfasts. Got to try the Yorkshire Pudding miniatures. Not bad!

Walked in on a very quiet night for the restaurant. Waited about 5 minutes to be seated. Employee in the back taking to another employee. Me, still waiting I left. Went to The Boiler Room and it was great!!

Incredible food quality and beyond reasonable prices for what we received. By far the best cheese cake Ive ever had. Absolutely stunning hot wings, lobster Mac and cheese, steak, burger, chicken tenders, French fries, vegetables and onion rings. Best steak in SSM. Someone recommended this place after I asked where I could get a great steak. Boy .....was it good. Cooked to perfection..black angus beef. I had the 10oz Ribeye. I HIGHLY recommend

Having never heard of a chophouse before, I wasnt sure what to expect, but the atmosphere was very pleasant, modern and with an up-scale feeling. We had the meat lovers pizza, which was large enough for four hungry people and pretty good. The waiter was prompt, attentive and pleasant. Would definitely recommend.

This restaurant is on the first floor of Quality Inn & Suites Bay Front, very close to St Mary s River and not too far from Canal. On the other side of the river is Sault Ste. Marie in the United States. The restaurant is well decorated and the business is very good. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance. The taste of the dishes is quite good, but the presentation is a bit haphazard and lacks some aesthetic appeal. However, I still highly recommend everyone to come here and give it a try. (Visited in late October 2021)

The brunch was so underwhelming. The food tasted horrible minus a couple of things that were okish. For almost $100 it was not worth it at all will never go back.

The staff are insanely kind and extremely knowledgeable, the food and drink was mouth watering, and the atmosphere was on point. All in all an incredible experience, would recommend to anyone looking to kick back and relax for a minute!

Myself and husband and daughter and son in law were travelling out west it was like 7 in the evening when we arrived in su st marie we we re starved so our hotel recommended Johnny chophouse we went wasn t figuring it to b very upscale but it was beautiful there and of course we had shorts T-shirt and myself had on crocks lol but we we re greeted by Roy who we told him mayb we should go cause we weren t dressed up he sd no indeed u won t I will get u all a table and bring some menu s we did tell him we were travelling and was sitting in the car for the last 13 hrs but he didn t mind at all so we had pork chops and let me say my husband makes a mean pork chop but this chop was done to perfection the food was amazing Roy was phenomenal the cook did a great job but if u happen to go please try johnnys chophouse u will not b disappointed at all the service we received from Roy was the best service we ever received in any restaurant everything was absolutely amazing ty Roy for your kindness god bless

Waitress didnt come back to check how everything was until over twenty minutes. It wasnt busy so no excuse. Had prime rib under cooked to what I ordered and did not taste like prime rib. Thinly cut. 1/8 of an inch thick and rare.

Very disappointed! 5 of us dined here, 4 had the pan fried pickerel, very soggy, not what one would expect from a battered, pan fried fish. Served with pea risotto, very unusual combination, very bland, certainly lacked eye appeal as well as taste. Another had the lobster Mac and cheese, sauce was not good at all and tasted very floury. Wouldn t recommend or return.

The Baystreet burger was delicious, with 6 oz beef patty, sliced beef and bacon, topped with aioli sauce! My friend had the steak sandwich and found the meat had a fair amount of grizzle. Ceasar salad and Greek salad were perfect.

Nice place. Calamari are actually done correctly, impressed. Asked for the Boneless ribeye Chicago blue, server said Im sure the cook can do it, she came back with a blue rare steak. It was still good, but if unable to do Chicago blue I prefer rare. So she, nor the chef knew what Chicago blue was obviously or she (as all servers do) would have come back to me saying they are unable to do Chicago blue as they cannot get the grill hot enough. This was disappointing having not being given the open for my second preference and them just guessing what I asked for... Place is nice, cozy, staff is friendly (I let my server know in future to tell people if they are not able to do Chicago blue steak), she replied that she will let the cook know not what she needs to do haha. Anyways, nice food, however definitely overpriced.

Cant fault this place, great service, and a great cook in the back. I had the dinner special, which was a 10oz, bone in pork chop, with veggies, and mashed potatoe, this was the best pork chop i have ever had. Also they have a great beer selection, if thats your thing, including some good local brews. The pricing is also very good.

Call it a date night or whatever youd like. It was an experience Id be happy to do again.

Service was great...cream sauce on chicken and pasta was horribly bland...extremely disappointed. A person with authority should have come out to our table to speak to us!!!

Extremly nice bar / lounge and dining room. Went back for a 2nd time in less than a month after service was not great the 1st time. Food was just OK but waited an hour 15 minutes for meal. No comped appetizer or drink(s).

Hadnt eaten all day and thought wed give Johnnys a try. Glad we did! I ordered the special, salmon filet covered in a dill sauce w/ capers - OMG Good!!! Fresh garden salad, fresh rolls with just the right crunch. Worth it people.

This was an amazing experience. The prime rib, ravioli, and the snapper were all so good. My friends and I were happy this was our decision for the last night in town.

Visited this restaurant because of its extreme convenience (in the same building as our hotel) but also because it got good reviews and the menu looked tasty. Ordered takeout here tonight, paid an extra $4 to upgrade fries to onion rings, got home and it was cold fries in the box. Burger was good, pasta was good but the sauce was very acidic and needed salt and parm cheese. Salad came already dressed so it was soggy. Maybe the experience is better in house, but itll be a pass for me next time.

My Wife and I are on a socially distanced road trip around Northern Ontario and arrived in the Soo last night, We were tired and not sure where we could find a good meal. We are staying nearby and saw Johnnys Chophouse, looked interesting so we gave it a try, so happy we did. The Waiter that served us also greeted us at the door, we left our information for Covid tracking which although being a bit of a pain, is neccesary and made us feel safer, he did a great job and made us feel welcomed. The food was more than we expected, My wife splurged on a grilled prime rib and I got the Chicken Piccata with a side of Spaghetti Aglio e Olio, both were delicious, and let me say this, as an Italian and a Chef I will say best Chicken Piccata and Spaghetti Aglio e Olio I have had in a restaurant. I highly recommend if you are in the area.

Excellent meals at a very reasonable price. I had the half rack of rib special and I could hardly finish it. Server was awesome, he definitely made the evening.

Awful almost $100 and i have had better steak diners at Chucks Roadhouse for $25.

Very good service but the steak was poor. The New York strip was not a good cut and it was charred with no notice that that is how it was going to be cooked.

Have yet to have a bad meal from this restaurant :) Ive had steak, seafood and chicken on separate occasions. Food is always so fresh. And to top it off the service is always fantastic.

Stop here everytime I cross into Canada. Great Caesar and excellent steak and the real bonus is that they remember your name and treat you like family. Highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I had a late dinner here last night and the server, Barb was wonderful! She never stopped smiling, was attentive and answered all of our tourist questions with great details. We were the last guests and she never made us feel like we were an inconvenience. The service was a brilliant 10/10 and she made our evening. We had wings and a burger and both were incredible! Restaurant is new and very well cleaned. Live music was perfect volume and a lovely addition to dinner.

This was our first time at Johnnys Chophouse. I ordered a New York Strip steak, appetizer of bruchetta and a small beer. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The food came quickly and was delicious. My only complaints are that the steak was a tad salty and the beer was a bit pricey.

I went Saturday September 14 and was seated at 6:37 . My wife and I sat there until 6:57 without being acknowledged once . 3 different servers walked around us and never said anything to us so we just got up and left .

Our experience was horrible. Our salad was soaked in dressing, my lamb was swimming in grease, and the steak dinner was SUPER salty. The service was ok. I would never go back and spend my hard earned money there. Extremely disappointing birthday dinner.

This place has fantastic food and service. The sizes of the meals were large and the drinks were some of the best that Ive had in a long time! Highly would recommend this place for holding Christmas parties or other events as they have a separate dining room that is intimate and private.

I had a wonderful experience here. The staff was very welcoming and served us at the bar in a very timely manner. We were informed upon arrival that they had the full menu available at the bar seating, and that there were three different specials that day, all of which sounded delicious. the whole place was very clean and had a relaxing feeling. All of the food ordered was brought out quicker than I had expected, and was very good. I had the cajun chicken which had a great consistency and flavor, and was not dried out in the slightest. I also very much enjoyed the mushroom risotto which had quite large mushroom slices in it making it even better in my opinion since it was something I had not seen done before.

Food and our waiter Roy was amazing !!! He was always checking in and making sure our experience was good !! And it was ! He was an awesome waiter !! I will definitely be going back !! Looking forward to the next time !!

Garbage. Ordered baked potato. Did not have. Ordered French onionn soup did not have. Ordered steak. Not good. Save your money. No water offered at table. Just not worth it .Extremely disappointed .Will never eat here again .

We were staying at the hotel while on vacation. Not many restaurants around so opted for Johnnys. Did not enjoy the food! Cheese slices on my French onion soup - really? Broth in soup was weak. And cheap ham in my salad - not worth the $16.

Had the Pickerel special at 9:30 PM after driving from Dryden ON....1035 kms. Christine and Joan were amazing staff. Caesar and Beers were great also. Much appreciated!

Our experience at this restaurant was downright fantastic. The staff are personable and very friendly. Our waiter Roy was excellent, he saw to our every want, he was very funny and engaging. The restaurant manager Carrie followed up with us after our meal to make sure everything was correct on our bill and to see how our experience was first hand. I will definitely be returning, and I would reccomend this restaurant to anyone. The food was spectacular, our steaks were perfectly cooked, the risotto was creamy and flavorful, and the Caesars we had with the meal were some of the best Ive had. 10/10 Excellent experience.

To be completely honest, we came in with low expectations knowing the restaurant was attached to the Quality Inn. Well.....we pleasantly surprised by the welcome, service and quality of food. Some had burgers and others had the Porchetta Chop. Everything was fresh and nicely prepared. Roy is top notch! Thanks so much for a great experience. We ll be sure to tell our friends passing through!
