I rarely leave reviews, but this experience left me speechless. We visited this restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie after hearing great things about the food, and I can say the food truly lived up to the hype. The dishes were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. From the appetizers to the mains, every bite was a delight, and it was evident that the kitchen knows how to cook. However, that’s where the positive side of our experience ends. The customer service was, without a doubt, the worst I’ve encountered in a long time. There was a significant lack of professionalism from the staff, but I do want to mention one Asian girl who seemed to be doing her absolute best to make things right. She was running around, trying to keep everything together, but she was clearly overwhelmed. It was evident that she was understaffed and struggling to manage the chaos, and unfortunately, the other servers weren’t stepping up to help. I want to emphasize that the food was excellent, and I truly hope this restaurant addresses its serious issues with service. The young woman working there deserves recognition for trying her hardest in an impossible situation. If not for her, I would have walked out before even tasting the food.

Excellent quality of the food for sure. But food is expensive for one person. Hopefully you can make it affordable for everyone. Overall experience was great. Nice staff and its service. Will recommend for sure for frequent travellers to enjoy wonderful Indian cuisine here at Taj.
I loved this place! I must say this is one of the finest restaurants that serves Halal food and quality of food, atmosphere and service are just spot on. This was beyond my expectations. Shivani helped us to order the food, her customer service is really appreciative. We had some allergy issues and they took care of that so promptly. I really didn’t get this type of service even in many renowned restaurants in GTA. We have ordered chicken biriyani, lamb karahi, chicken tandoori sizzler and naan. Taste wise all of these items were very tasty.
We just crossed the border and after checking at the hotel we wanted dinner and decided to check out The Taj, we found a menu in the hotel lobby. The food was good, I liked it very much. We split as dish of veggie tothu. My wife liked it also but she can't handle hot spice well. So remember to ask for it with the spice level you like. The food took a little bit to come out, so our host (Pooja) bought us some kind of very thin bread/crackers and some mango chutney two nibble on. So if you're in the mood for some Indian food this place is well worth checking out and recommend.
Probably the best Indian restaurant not only in Sault Ste. Marie but also in Toronto (atleast the ones I have eaten). The atmosphere is extremely cozy and the servers were super nice. I recommend trying their appetisers such as prawn 65. The dosa was also great. The samber tasted amazing and so comforting. Definitely recommend if you’re visiting in town.
I would give this place 5 stars for decoration and food presentation, other than that it would get 2 stars for food taste. And it's pricey! Portion sizes are good to share. I've had Indian food so many times and this restaurant unfortunately lacks in the flavour. The butter naan bread was the only yummy thing!
**Restaurant Review: TAJ** I recently dined at TAJ with a group of 10 people, having made a reservation in advance. Despite our booking, we had to wait for an hour, and during this time, the management did not bother to provide water or take our orders. The entire experience was disappointing. After waiting for two hours, we were served only the starters. These were not impressive, as all the gravies were overly sweet, and every dish, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, looked and tasted the same. To add to our frustration, we were served the wrong dishes. We continued to wait, but after three hours, our main courses still hadn't arrived. Frustrated and hungry, we decided to leave without ever receiving our meals. I understand that any restaurant can have an off day, but the manager's indifference was unacceptable. He showed no concern for his customers and instead blamed his staff without reason. The manager's lack of attention to both time and food quality was evident. This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience I've had in Sault Ste. Marie, and I cannot recommend TAJ to anyone.
Had a wonderful meal and our server Kiran was very pleasant and attentive!
Me and my friend had a great first time here! Food and Service was excellent. I think her name was kiera. Very accomodating with food allergies. If your gluten free like me your very limited in what you can have but almost everything on their menu they can make gluten free. Im definitely coming back :)
Excellent meal and A1 service
The buttermilk chicken & rice are my favorite. :D The service is very friendly, its so clean and classy when you walk in. A wonderful place for fine dining or takeout! Thankyou staff for a delightful experience. :)
Horrible horrible place, avoid at all costs!!! We visited this restaurant earlier this month during our trip to Sault Ste Marie. The service was terrible, we waited for 20 min to be seated. We ordered meat tandoori platter, chicken Hakka fried rice and chilli chicken. Apart from getting our order wrong, the food was stale, tasteless and insipid. Its the worst food Ive ever eaten. Dont go by the good reviews, save your money and time and dont visit this restaurant.
Amazing Indian food in Sault Ste Marie!!!
Such a wonderful experience Delicious food Especially Chicken Biryani and Butter chicken Staff was really welcoming and generous Food : 5/5 |
Best in town Soo far Mango lassi is amazing & flavours of Dosa makes me feel like home Plus the serving staff is really nice and welcoming Food : 5/5
Food, staff & manager are always amazing!
Very bad customer service. The server is so rude. Also, the food is average.
The food is delicious, not rich in spices like other Indian restaurants. The view is beautiful, the atmosphere is cozy. The only small minus point is that after ordering, the food takes a long time to be brought out :)
Amazing Authentic Sri Lankan & Indian Cuisine! We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! Our group of 21 was accommodated without any hassle, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food was authentic and absolutely delicious we tried almost everything on the menu, and it s hands down the best South Asian cuisine we ve had, even better than many restaurants in the GTA. They also brew their own beer, which is just as impressive as the food definitely 5 stars! Plus, the owner made us feel right at home, and they even surprised us with a complementary cake for one of our group members who was celebrating a birthday. Highly recommend this place for anyone in Sault Ste. Marie or visiting the area!
A random stop for Indian food on a trans-Canada road trip turned out to be an amazing surprise. The kindness of the host was beyond expectations then followed by a taste above any of our previous experiences of Indian cuisine.
I highly recommend this restaurant. I had amazing experience at The Taj Indian cuisine. Food was absolutely delicious especially Sri Lankan koththu. The Manager/ Owner was so kind and friendly. We are from Toronto and give 5 Food
Worst restaurant, calling from last 2 hours, didn t pick up the call and when we showed up they said sorry we are reserved.
Very bad experience. Never picking up the call. We were calling from last 1 hour nd when we were there she will be like aww we were fully booked. Even she can inform on the call as well. Wasting of time.
If u wanna taste perfect crispy dosas(masala dosa and set dosa) with awesome chutney combination this is where u should go...wonderful place, great ambience and great customer service especially Pooja...Thanks to her
I ordered the set dosa, and it was absolutely delicious! The texture and flavor were spot on, just like back home. The service was also excellent friendly staff and quick service. Highly recommend this place for authentic South Indian food!.
It was my first time coming to Taj Indian Cuisine. Tried some south Indian dishes and the food was really good.
It was a good Indian restaurant with a reasonable price in SSM. Alert! They serve big portion of food. So, order wisely. Curry was normal and tandoori chicken was overcooked and burnt a lot.
The food was delicious and the server did very well with such a large group. The food came out as it was prepared, nice and hot! I would definitely recommend thus restaurant!
Friendly and helpful servers. Food was extremely flavourful and plentiful. We really enjoyed our meals and our server went far to help us when we visited.
Absolutely delicious food!! I love this place!
An absolute delightful culinary experience here. We had Chilli Gobi, Palak Paneer with Garlic Nan & Onion Kulcha. Each dish had an authentic taste & was very delicious. We loved the ambience too. Absolutely beautiful setup & decor. We had amazing courteous service from our server Kiran too. Would definitely visit again when we come back to this area!
The place has a great atmosphere, and Pooja went above and beyond to take care of us, even during the busy hours. The food was delicious and served just a few minutes after we ordered. Highly recommend!
Stopped for dinner on a Sunday night and had the Lamb Korma, Lamb Curry, Samosa and Mixed Pickled veggies. Not only was the food delicious, our waitress Kiran was very sweet and attentive. 10/10 will stop again.
Bad reception management. Sad to see this kind of incompetency.
Mismanaged front staff, wont visit again.
My experience at The Taj Indian Cuisine Ltd. was extremely disappointing and left me questioning both the professionalism of the staff and the management s role in it. We initially called to place a takeout order and requested rotis, only to have the staff discourage us by saying the rotis were really very bad. After pressing for clarification, we found out they were simply out of stock and had been instructed to mislead customers rather than being honest. Feeling confused by the menu, we asked if we could dine in instead, and the staff assured us that we were welcome anytime. However, after traveling several kilometers to the restaurant, we arrived to be told that the place was fully booked, despite it being completely empty. This conflicting information and apparent dishonesty made the whole experience frustrating. It s hard to tell if the staff is unprofessional or if they re simply following misguided instructions from management, but either way, it s not a place I d recommend.
Very delayed services, not enough staff to serve and cold food .
I recently ordered takeout from this Restaurant, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. I got the paneer butter masala and naan, but the food fell far below expectations. The naan had an unpleasant smell, making it inedible. The paneer butter masala was more like a watery soup than the rich, creamy dish I was hoping for. It didnt resemble paneer butter masala at all. In the end, I had to throw everything away. This was by far the worst experience Ive had. Save your money and look elsewhere!
Nice ambience and good food. We tried vegetarian biriani, onion bhajia and some Indian sweats. All was good & tasty. Service was quite fast, and staff is very friendly. Puja who attended us did a marvelous job, and made it sure all went well with food and service. If you are in town, do not miss to visit Taj. Food
We loved this place! The food was amazing, service and atmosphere were great!
You can rarely find such amazing service!! Special mention to Shivani Patel for her extra efforts and getting things on time and she went beyond her duty to serve our orders. Would definitely come again!!
Beautiful restaurant with delicious food. Pooja was very nice and served me an amazing Chana Masala
Amazing Experience at The Taj I recently visited The Taj and was blown away by the entire experience. The updated menu is fantastic, and the food was absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable clean, fast, and classy. Everything about the dining experience was top-notch. A special shoutout to Pooja, who is without a doubt one of the best servers I ve ever encountered. She is incredibly kind, respectful, and attentive, always checking in to make sure everything was perfect. It s safe to say that without Pooja, the restaurant just wouldn t feel complete. Her warmth and professionalism truly elevate the experience. Highly recommend dining here!
The Taj Indian Cuisine offers an exceptional dining experience. The food was outstanding, with every dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The owner, personally ensured each guest was well taken care of, showing true passion for the restaurant. The staff provided excellent service attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
Worst food I ever eat. Not tasty at all. Mixed veg I eat was the worse vegetable I ever eat. When we order the the food it takes food ever to come to the table. Only the nan was good. Lamb korma, mixed vegetables or BBQ plate nothing worth the cost we pay. Really expensive.
quantity not good according to price and same goes for taste
Dal & paneer butter masala was good but these pathetic naan(which also came complimentry) has ruined the dinner. Got it packed to eat it in marathon. Now stuck with alternate option. Vegetarian options: Avoid naan. They are bakery style naan
Sapna did nice and clean job. Awesome paneer kadai and all breads are soft crispy . After 800 km drive, we got delicious food.
I liked the food so much and i was served by Miss kiran my experience was really good its like 100 out of 10
Good selection of veg and nonveg options.
Beautifully lit, clean restaurant. Fresh and delicious food. Kind staff. What more could you want?
Absolutely great restaurent for indian cuisine. Naans and kadhai paneer tasted fresh with perfect spice level as requested.
They refused to take order at 9:23pm saying kitchen is closed. Google says they re open till 10pm. Food : 1/5
The food was awfull. The staff and manager are idiots. All the food was tasteless so we told them to add salt so they were arguing and told us that why are you here if you cant afford us. Pathetic staff.. bloody idots
Very rude and disrespectful behaviour from staff and even manager too. Food was tasting pathetic no body should ever come here for their meals. Senseless customer service and if you tell them about any changes in food they will ask you to leave. Not at all welcoming place.
Worst food and even the manager and staff are rude .
I recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. First, the Dahi Vada was quite bland and lacked flavor. When we politely asked the server if they could add some salt or make any adjustments, we were met with rudeness and unprofessionalism. The server argued with us instead of addressing our concerns calmly. To make matters worse, the manager s final comment was dismissive, suggesting that if we couldnt afford the food, we should leave, even though we hadnt requested anything for free. Additionally, the dining area was plagued with MOSQUITOES , which significantly detracted from the overall atmosphere. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and makes improvements for future guests.
Solid spot for Indian. Went with a group and while the service was a bit slow and some parts of the meal came out at different times overall a good meal. Flavors were great and portions very good. The garlic naan was delicious.
If it was in my hands, I would rate this place a negative 1. Food was just horrible! We ordered a chicken biryani that was literally rice and chicken gravy mixed with fibrous chewy chicken. The biriyani lacked any seasoning, not even the humble salt. The chicken malai kabab was another disaster! Chicken pieces were humongous with no marination/ taste. Not to mention the exorbitant pricing. The server mentioned that their food was made in a professional manner, only the professionalism didnt reflect either in taste or service! I feel terrible writing such a review, but it was a horrible experience!
Excellent Indian Cuisine
Dosa was really good, chilly fish smells very nice Vegetarian options: Dalvada, Fafda and papaya sambhara Food : 4/5 |
Poor Service, Bland Food, and Rude Management Service: Upon arrival, there was no welcoming greeting from the staff, which felt unwelcoming and unprofessional. Food Quality: The dishes we ordered were bland and lacked salt. Despite our feedback, no effort was made to address this issue. Staff Interaction: When we raised our concerns, the server responded dismissively, stating, we are also human beings, and walked away without offering any solution. Management Response: Requesting to speak with the manager was equally unproductive. He mentioned that they were short-staffed and suggested we use the salt provided on the table. His comment implying that we were complaining because he said that WE COULDNT AFFORD THE MEAL WAS INAPPROPRIATE AND OFFENSIVE . Moreover, his aggressive demeanor made us feel uncomfortable, as if he was preparing for a confrontation rather than resolving the issue. Lack of Apology and Accusation: Neither the server nor the manager offered an apology. Instead, they continued to argue that we didnt understand the foods taste and even accused us of not intending to pay for our meal, which was untrue and insulting. Overall recommendation This experience left us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. A simple acknowledgment of our concerns and an apology would have been appreciated, but we received neither. Its unfortunate that the staff and management were more focused on defending themselves rather than ensuring customer satisfaction. Given the poor service, lack of taste in the food, and the managements inappropriate behavior, we cannot recommend The Taj Indian Cuisine Ltd. WE HOPE THEY TAKE THIS FEEDBACK SERIOUSLY AND IMPROVE THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FOOD QUALITY. I want to clarify that our review was based on a genuine experience at your restaurant on 27/07/2024. My intention was not to harm your business, but to share honest feedback about the service and food quality we received. If there is any doubt about the authenticity of my visit, I respectfully request that you review the security camera footage from that day, which should corroborate my presence and the issues mentioned in my review. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This was the response from the The Taj Indian Cuisine Ltd. blaming us that we are fake reviews. Response from the owner ( 2 days ago ) Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience at Taj Indian Cuisine, Using fake reviews to mislead community, Ten of you consumed all the food and returned two dishes saying no sault, As we explained, sault taste depends on a person and table sault available for that, *However, no one paid for consumed food* looking forward to welcoming you back soon!
Really top-notch Indian cuisine, and a casual but refined atmosphere. Ill go here again.
Another absolutely amazing place I love Indian cuisine so a good restaurant goes recognized for me. The food was very delicious and awesome prices for the proportions. The atmosphere here is exquisitely wonderful and it is honestly such a vibe it makes me feel like I m not actually in Sault Ste. Marie and I m actually in India. Customer service was excellent my niece tripped and they gave her a free drink to cheer her up as she was crying, and very quick to help and kind in general. If you haven t gone here or don t go here but you live in Sault Ste. Marie you are seriously missing out and should definetly check it out. Vegetarian options: Lots of actually delicious vegetarian foods they have a whole section of the menu for vegetarian options. Parking: Nice and easy spots to park aswell with lots of parking spaces. Kid-friendliness: They are very kind towards children and understanding.
I always stop by when I pass through SSM. I was quite disappointed this time however. I ordered the butter chicken and there were only 3 pieces of chicken, plus the sauce had no flavour. A stark decline in quality since my last visit. The garlic naan is still the best around though
Delicious food. Portion size was decent. Rotis and naans were huge.
Staff is less and even the cost is soo much high
The manager(Walter) lacks proper customer service skills, displays a negative attitude, and the food quality was also worst.
Food quality was the poorest and talking about guest service I would give them 0. The person who was attending the guest(Walter) don t even know how to talk with customers and he don t deserve to attend customer. My experience here was bad because the guy directly said Mental person when I asked him how long will it take to get my order**
We got take out food for around 10 of our friends. When we reached to get the food the guy named Walter was very rude to one of my friend saying and stating something like he (my friend) is mental just for asking how long will it take for the food to be prepared. Moreover, the food was not worth the money as it was all watery in the gravy, and did not taste good.
The food way tasteless ... And the person who was taking order. (Walter) dont even know how to treat customers..he is so mannerless and have no sense to talk with customer.
Nice place , good food.
The best Indian food I have ever tried is here. Most favorite Palak Paneer Curry with THE GARLIC NAAN is my go to food. Good Vegetarian Options you are gonna get is here with the finger licking food relish the food with cherishing environment. Food
This is a must visit place. The food is so good and I would like to appreciate the efforts of the people over there, who treat the customers so well. People are courteous and so kind. Not only good food, Taj has good staff too.
We feel like being in home country whenever we come to your restaurant...Good atmosphere and customer service. Thanks Vegetarian options: More sort of options to taste...Brand new varieties are offered.
Authentic food, clean and accessible bathrooms, and good staff
Very good
We live in the metro-detroit area- where there is a plethora of indain cuisine restaurants, We had the butter chicken and chicken biryani and it was comprable to the indian wed have back home! This is the best indian food weve had while in canada. The garlic naan is very robust and we definately recommend!
We have ordered pick up and dined in a few times. The food has great flavor and is well cooked. Everything was delicious and came in great portion sizes. We did wait a while to be served and receive our food. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Vegetarian options: There are plenty of rich, flavored vegetarian options. Great list of menu items.
Food was very delicious- especially the Chicken noodles. The food is halal which is great. Definitely recommend!
What an good idea to stop by an Monday afternoon and having a good food with relishing vibe. My most Favourite all the time favourite food Fried Rice and of course My all time Favourite Mango Lassi and dessert and Garlic Naan. All time go to place.
I recently dined at Taj and I wholeheartedly enjoyed the food there, and was also impressed by the good customer service provided by their staff. I ate variety of dishes amongst which I personally loved the veggie appetizers and also the most renowned Butter chicken. Therefore, i would highly recommend my fellow indian friends to go visit taj and have a flavourful experience.
I recently dined at Taj Indian cuisine, and it was an exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was inviting and elegantly designed, setting the perfect backdrop for a delightful meal. The staff was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu and offering great recommendations. We started with the appetizer platter, which was a vibrant mix of flavors and textures. The samosas were crispy and filled with a perfectly spiced potato mixture, while the pakoras were light and flavorful. For the main course, the chicken tikka masala was the standout, with tender pieces of chicken in a rich, creamy sauce that had just the right amount of spice. The naan was freshly baked and complemented the dishes perfectly. The highlight of the meal was the dessert mango lassi and gulab jamun. The mango lassi was refreshing and the gulab jamun was warm, sweet, and indulgent.
The food is highly overpriced and the taste is substandard. DO NOT try the Hakka food at this place at all. We will not be going back and would suggest trying other options for Indian food.
Good food but every item is oily. They need to cut down on oil use. Vegetarian options: Many options. Food : 4/5 |
Cosy and warm inside. Friendly service. The only Indian restaurant Ive found that serves gluten-free dosas. Gluten-free choices well listed in their menu. My wife had the Taj Madras Chicken Curry, and described the sauce as the best Indian-style sauce she has ever tasted. Highly recommended. Dietary restrictions: Many gluten-free choices for celiacs
There is one of the staff name Shivani was an excellent.
The Food Here Is Really Worth Your Money You Guys Must Visit Once and the staff specially shivani is also very friendly with customers overall it was a wonderful experience
Lamb was fabulous, chicken MalAi could use some colour and flavour, excellent naans.
Amazing food, large portions made for great leftovers! Great service from waitress Pooja! Kid friendly with children s menu! Would definitely recommend!
The workers were very accommodating and respectful! The food was full of flavor. Atmosphere was calm yet colorful! 10/10 would eat again.
The food and service was amazing. This was my 3rd time to this place. We hope we have this in Toronto. Love it.. sooooo testy food no matter what you order.
So the ambiance is really good and spacious. Rest rooms were clean and well maintained. The presentation is also good. But the food was really not up to the mark and hence the zero star on food. So if you are an Indian and looking for good Indian food, this is not a place for you. But if you are Canadian/ any other foreign national who wanna taste Indian food with mild flavors and spices, this place is for you. Felt like all the dishes we ordered, which lacked flavors and tasted the same. We ordered Chettinad chicken curry, chicken biryani, and chicken Kothu. All had the same taste, and all had only chicken breasts pieces and without any flavors. So it is better to spicify the spice level you want.
Siddi is at home, Aure na ayeo. Bki dekhleo
I can guarantee you that this is the worst indian food restaurant not just in town but in whole ontario. Yaah, If you want to look at fancy indian stuff it looks good to eyes, but taste 00/100. No flavour no quality no recipe. If you are Indian, its not for u. Total disappointment. Food
The worst Indian restaurant I have been to . As soon as we entered the restaurant it didn t give us a welcoming vibe and then we ordered the food that was way too expensive and the was tasteless. The dal was not so good and the rotis were completely uncooked. Would not recommend if you are looking for something Indian.
The Taj Indian Cusion name it self is enough to give your taste buds to the cravings. While shifting in Sault Ste. Marie form India I was just wondering wether am I able to get the good Indian taste or not. Of course being a foodie my first and last choice would be a good food. I got it in The Taj Indian Cuisine. Hospitality is just amazing while talking about food is just an another level I have tried their Palak Paneer, Paneer Butter Masala , Chana Masala , Garlic Naan , and Dosa. If there would be 10 star I would love to give it and gonna try again and again. Oops I just forgot to mention the most favourite Mango Lassi which is very very healthy after your meal.
I recently dined at this fantastic Indian restaurant and had an exceptional experience. The highlight of my meal was the Taj Deluxe Biryani, which was incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. The spices were well-balanced, making every bite a delight. The Kadhai Chicken was another standout dish, rich in taste with a wonderful blend of spices and a deliciously thick gravy. The service was commendable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Their hospitality added to the overall pleasant dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy authentic and delicious Indian cuisine. Ill definitely be returning soon.
Hakka noodles was amazing must try
Food and service was great! Vegetarian options: Lots of variety available Food : 5/5 |
Tried north indian food and it was average. I heard good reviews about the place but wasnt impressed. Good ambience and seating though but food and service was average.
Great service, very quick to make food. A little on the pricey side but is definitely worth the money you are spending. Server was friendly
Best place to hang out. Tried their chicken tikka masala. No doubt , It was really amazing. Would highly recommend.
Service is outstanding but ordered Aloo prantha . Hardly saw any Aloo in it
Great restaurant with a great owner! Food is delicious and the Lassi was spectacular! The best place to order curry in Sault Ste Marie! Will definitely return.
Great food and atmosphere Service was awesome Food
The worst food that i ever tried
The service and food was not very good. We asked for spicy food but we received food that was more on the sweeter side. The naan felt like they were stale and dry. The service was so so and servers didn t seem to be very happy working there. A lot needs to be improved.
Fantastic food, great service. My new favourite restaurant in SSM!
0 star for food and price, these guys are destroying the name of indian foods, i ordered paneer butter masala, and mix veg, i cant define what mess i get. Panner masala tastes kadhi pakoda, mix veg tastes sambar, Complimentary Butter Naan are more harder than Papad. For samosa plates. they served frozen samosa with only sweet sauce. But only Hats off for their tea, that was only good.
Food was bland and super sweet. 5 stars for atmosphere and service but food was not good We ordered 2 curries and I understand that curries are sweet but Manchurian was hell too sweet to eat that . Food
Best Indian restaurant in town. Owner and staff are very friendly and welcoming. We unknowingly came in close to their closing however they served us anyways. Pooja was an excellent server and the food was delicious.
They charged 18$ for manchurian with 8 pieace wow. Test was awful
Ordered Dosa got hair in my food - also very bad food. The waitress served us provided excellent service, but Mr. Walter (the manager) was very rude ! Day by day getting worst
Frozen stuff, staff was busy in talking , nobody cares that they have customer waiting
Had some samosas, lovely butter chicken, kadai veg with naan and rice topped off with mango lassi and a Marsala tea. Great service and we will be back. Thanks!
Really nice spot good food nice spot
The food was very good and worth of the price. Service was good enough.
Good food and good service. Although a bit less quantity in terms of price but still good in taste and ambience. Food
A fantastic Indian option right on one of the main roads when passing through Sault Ste Marie. The menu had a little bit of everything. Our group ordered and shared a fair bit and everyone was very happy with the quality. Our server was attentive and helped out with suggestions. He also brought us a complimentary dessert when we were done. I would recommend this place for sure.
We had a lovely dinner! Delicious curries and dosa, gracious waitress and yummy mango lassis!
Delicious food, very nice server Pooja
Good interior design with lights and asthenic pictures. Food good too, but offering mostly indian and very little hakka. Not a good choice if you want hakka but plenty of indian food
We just had our dinner. We came from Toronto. We never had this type of indian food ever! Food was totally lack of taste & flavour. We have ordered chicken tikka sizzler. Chicken was not fully cooked & 0% tikka flavour. We also ordered chicken biriyani. Most worst biriyani we had ever. Also the waiter the girl wearing chura has lots of attitude. She don t have manners how to talk to customer. She wasn t responding us whenever we were asking something. Also there was no drinking water no napkins provided. When we asked the girl she doesn t respond. Really we are very disappointed.
LOVED this place. Amazing food, very delicious and with tons of gluten free options (including the Dosa, which Ive not found anywhere else). The service was fantastic, we kept getting little treats just to try the flavors and were made to feel very at home and appreciated. I will definitely be back anytime Im in the Soo. Best way to describe the food would be very meh. One of the dishes wasnt salted at all. I didnt ask for one, but restaurant didnt offer a refund for it. Service was meh as well. Servers were not enthusiastic and felt like they didnt want to be there Price was expensive, but I guess there arent many Indian restaurants in the area so this place has good reviews Decorations are interesting, but everythjng about the place from the name to the deco to the menu feels gimicky. I think the problem is that they are trying to be everything for everyone and dont do a good job at any of it Not the worst experience but leaves lot more to be desired
Half cooked chicken and daal. Food takes forever to come. Even they dont give you spoon with food, its just fork and knife they give with indian food. So one star. I don t recommend this restaurant
I have to give 1 stars because there is no option of 0 or -1 stars otherwise I have given that as I have wasted my money 2 times they have given the worst food and taste was terrible. I have ordered noodles and so called taj special rolls full of oil and tasted awful. Servers don t even have time to attend the guests and funny part is they gave food first and then cutlery to guests.. forgot to take the pictures I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone
The food was really good and the customer service was amazing.
Worst place to go. Had throw all the rotis all of them were uncooked. Ordered daal tadka gave sambhar. If possible would have give minus starts
The worst experience i have ever had bought food there and on the name of fresh food they gave frozen food, i will suggest to never go there don t put ur money garbage by spending there
Amazing hospitality and service. Food was served promptly and hot. Everything tasted amazing. Flavours were authentic and traditional. We were treated as if family. Vegetarian options: Ample choices available for vegetarians ranging from South Indian to North Indian and Hakka. Dietary restrictions: Catered to our dietary preferences/ restrictions with care.
Authentic Indian taste best in town
Kasuni helped us make our selections from the menu. The food was fabulous, one of the best tasting Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala with rice and naan we have ever had. A pleasant surprise served with a smile. We would definitely come again.
Great food and great service. Pooja looked after us and made sure we always had everything we needed.
What a lovely experience, could not have been treated better. We were warmly welcomed, the restaurant is inviting and tranquil. The owner was so helpful, explaining the dishes and the spices, gave us excellent suggestions. All of us tried something different and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. A great dining experience, looking forward to doing it again!
My daughter wanted to go for her birthday. The food was refreshingly different from your typical restaurant it was delicious filling and well prepared. Service was excellent and prices were reasonable. We will definitely be back to enjoy the menu again. Vegetarian options: They have many vegetarian options available on their menu
I was craving for an Indian authentic food after a long drive from Toronto. After comparing the reviews, I decided to give it a try at this restaurant. I ordered Masala dosa and Paneer Tikka Sizzler. All side dishes that came with the Masala dosa were great and they were fresh. Cook forgot to add salt to the Masala. Same with the Paneer Tikka Sizzler. I hope to try it again another time at this restaurant to see if they have improved based on my feedback.
Everything was good. The girl at reception was very polite. Food was tasty too.
Everything was so good, thanks Buja for the great service !!
Well I couldnt even order. The guy who answered the phone I was like do u have daal he was like yes, how much is it? He said 18 bucks I was dang daal and this expensive? Same price as no veg. He said there are a lot more restaurants near this area may be u can find cheaper lol and hung up on me. I just laughed and call another restaurant of course.
Really good food
I tried their paneer butter masala and butter chicken both tasted like exactly the same. The naan was pretty decent. I feel like, it didnt gave me the taste according to the ambience and costumer services.
Worst food and service Had to wait for 1.5 hr for food and got undercooked chicken, soggy bread(looked like frozen bread from walmart) Only one server for closing time . And that manager is yelling at her. I hope that Sukhdev restaurant open soon and soo get to experience the real Indian cuisine otherwise this place have no clue what they are doing
Tried the biryani at Taj India Cuisine - absolute flavor explosion! The mix of spices and tender meat made it the best biryani Ive ever had. A must-try for biryani lovers Vegetarian options: There are lots many options for vegetarian in their menu like paneer butter masala ,palak paneer, aloo gobi, eggplant curry ,masala dhosa nd lot more Parking: They have a huge parking so you can easily park your car outside the restaurant Kid-friendliness: They are very Co operative with kids too they even have kid meal in their menu should visit once
I had a great experience of food in the restaurant.I loved the ambience the atmosphere and the friendliest staff made my visit the perfect one.One of the employee whose name was Pooja was so kind and polite while taking the order suggesting the food as per our taste and serving the food on time.I will surely recommend my friends to visit Taj.Thank you

My recent visit to Tan Indian Cuisine was fantastic. The ambiance was inviting, the service was impeccable, and the food was exquisite.
The experience was amazing. The food was really good. The service was spot on by Pooja. She knows what a customer needs and suggest accordingly. Over all love it. Must visit. Food
Good service and wonderful foods. Textures nailed so well. Vegetarian options: They have several vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: They have gluten friendly options Wheelchair accessibility: Wide doors
Great experience. Awesome food and service. We asked for heat and they delivered. I recommend getting their dessert platter. Lots of varieties of interesting goodies.
I had a wonderful experience at Taj. The food was amazing! The restaurant has a pleasant and soothing ambience with comfortable seating. Staffs are attentive, great menu choices and really decent food with affordable prices. Definitely hope to go back.
Pooja at Taj Indian Cuisine provided exceptional service. Had a great experience of Indian food after a long time. We ordered one Masala Dosa which was great. Poojas professionalism truly stood out, making our visit memorable. Highly recommend her service!
Amazing atmosphere, exceptional service and a truly wonderful dining experience I would happily recommend.
Excellent customer service and highly recommend . Especially the girl named Pooja helped us
One of the best place to have Indian Cuisine in Sault Ste Marie, Canada. Been here several times and it never disappoints . Staffs are very helpful especially Pooja. Highly recommended...
The food was really great. Pooja was an amazing server. Definately coming back!
Really good food and service our server Booja was on the ball great help in making us with the menu.
Excellent food and service. Beautiful and clean restaurant. Wonderful evening for my family!
Cheap quality food and expensive
Fantastic vegetarian and meat options! Clean, comfy, and excellent staff Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options available Food : 5/5 |
Placed an order over the phone. I was told that my order will be ready in 20-25. Went there after 25 minutes. Waited there for another 30 minutes. The order was still not ready and I was told that he can cancel the order after I waited for an hour. Cancelled the order. Owner is so disrespectful and has no respect for time. Won t recommend anyone going here.
Naan ( breads ), roti s were frozen, better to buy from walmart. Daal makhani, chicken tikka and butter chicken did not taste fresh either. The taste was disgusting and appeared to be very old. The food had an unpleasant odor as well. Moreover, owner s behaviour towards their customers was not respectful. I definitely do not recommend this restaurant. I wish I could give them 0 star rating.
So i had a really bad experience, it was my birthday and i went to taj, my friend already told me that when they went last time they had bad experience as well, but still i took them there, we order naan and roti both, we found hair in the naan, and then roti was so hard , a normal person would not be able to eat it, and salad was so bitter too, then we asked for manager , employee told us that he is available but he did not want to talk to us. We ended up leaving and paying 120$ for the food we even did not eat. Worst experience ever, not going back there at all . Would not recomded to any body.
We went to taj today, everything we ordered was so bad in taste. Nothing was freshly cooked , seemed frozen, asked for manager , he did not come to talk to us which was not respectful and nice at all. Would not go there back at all. Manager should learn some management skills .
We had a good dining experience at Taj.. service and the food was excellent.
Fantastic food. Good prices. Wonderful service.
i get takeout quite frequently because their food is really good. however, some of the people working there are beyond rude. last night i ordered food & was waiting inside for the order to finish, 5 ish minutes later another gentleman came in.the difference in treatment was bizarre & when both of the orders did come out, she gave him his first & i had to wait longer because he payed cash. normally this isn t a big deal but what got me was when she gave him his order she stared directly at me smirking, like she knew what she was doing & kept staring at me the whole time. i don t know what i did to be treated this way & this isn t something only i am noticing as my boyfriend has too. this has also happened multiple other times too, in terms of being treated like nothing. love the food but probably won t be going back, as i shouldnt be feeling the way i do after a brief interaction over takeout.
Food was amazing and very friendly staff. Will definitely be going back.
It seems more of a South Indian food.
Great sense of humor and hospitality by Mr. Walter. Thank you for your generosity.
Very delicious food but very small portions of the curries in my opinion. Not very spicy despite me requesting for it to be spicy.
Great gluten free and dairy free food. They were able to make sure my food was safe for me to eat. I was very pleased with how my food tasted. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free (celiac) and dairy free friendly
Great food and service
Awful place to visit. Real bad service. The wait was loooong for no reason. I went with a group and the front desk agent never bothered to reply for a reservation query. I am.waving goodbye to this place. Disappointed!
Food came fast , food was good enough though lacking in flavour for the type of food we ordered. Could have been because it was delivered so we weren t able to give our preferences.
Extremely slow service and average food.
Everything was great, the food tasted amazing and the waitress checked in to see how we were doing and if we needed anything else. Full five stars and i will be coming back in the future. Vegetarian options: Lots of these
Vegetarian options: Worst customer service. Bu Food
Worst experience, food is not hot, served the food after 1 hour. Wanted to give zero rating but app doesnt allowed it
It was my first time visiting this place. Our food were good except the fish Malabar I ordered. It was nothing like Kerala style. I didn t get any coconut milk taste from it as it was mentioned in the menu. Overall experience was great.
Do not go with lot of expectations. Since we ran out of options and time, we booked table here. Wait time was higher since they had a huge group party and all staff were busy. Food quantity is less and communication is misleading, tried both vegetarian and Chicken dishes and would not recommend any
Walter is an amazing host who really makes one feel specisl during their time at the Taj. An excellent restauarant all around.
Worst place .terrible service.
Worst service ever I have in any of Indian restaurants in my life . owner worst management. Worst service . Don t know how to talk to Coustmer . I am regretting to even chosen this restaurant . Guys don t go if you don t want to waste your money and time . Not recommend at all . Zero ratting
always the best food, service and taste of all of the dishes . Must try the sizzelers.
Yesterday my friends birthday we went for dinners with friends and family one of my friend work at taj her name is simran she suggests us so many dishes. We love the food qnd service The manager is very polite qnd helpful. I highly recommend this place for dinner and lunch.
The food was so good, and prepared very well, within the time they told me that it would be ready for pick up Vegetarian options: There was a very good selection Parking: Spots were lined, parking lot was in good repair, very easy to navigate
An unexpected pleasure and uniquely tasty experience. From the glowing red neon signage to the pounded copper dinnerware, the experience was a celebration of the senses. Generous servings and beautifully, lovingly prepared dishes.
Great food and lovey service. Radha made our last experience very memorable with little hearts on mango lassi! Highly recommended !
My wife and I had dinner tonight for our anniversary. Staff was pleasant. Food was very good. Highly recommend giving it a try.
had to wait a long time for the food and coffee found out when ready to pay that the charge 2.49 for each coffee was not told that and it did not say it anywhere food was 20.00 and coffee was10.00 will never go there again (the place only had a few people in it so its not like there busy
I couldnt accurately comment on Service and atmosphere, but I had no issue ordering the food and when I picked it up the atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice BUT there were no diners and it was dinner time on a Thursday night. It went downhill from there: the chicken 65 appetizer was so dry - it was like chicken that was a few days old dry - no flavour. The naan bread was not like I have seen before - it was like if flour naan bread had a baby with some roti. Very dry too. Finally, the Chicken Tikka Masala - at first it tasted great because it was hot and there was flavour, but as I kept eating, I realized the chicken was as dry as the chicken 65 appetizer. The gravy was border line at best - I have never had Indian gravy from a jar, but I cant help but think my dish tonight may have started there. I love Indian food and culture and was really looking forward to eating some great curry. Not tonight.
The food and ambulance are wonderful.
Staff (AMAN) was very friendly and helpful! The kadahi chicken was awesome (which I prefer) the garlic naan was cooked perfectly, light and airy.
Reviews here from non-Indians seem to be good but Id recommend you to read the reviews by Indians (try guessing with their names) which are mostly not rating this restaurant well. TBH, its understandable because this restaurant is really nowhere an authentic Indian cuisine restaurant. The staff/management here is actually nice and warm, and the ambience is quite good. But keep in mind that they are from Sri Lanka. In spite of their best intent, they are not getting the food right. Moreover, they mostly have North Indian items in the menu which I honestly feel they shouldnt try selling given how different food in North India is than food in South India (which is closer to Sri Lanka).. Recipes and cooking style varies from region to region, chef to chef. But it appears that this restaurant is merely trying to cash in on popularity of Indian cuisine without real knowledge of it. The food here lacks basic flavours.
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is the best Indian Ive had on this side of the Atlantic. You can tell they make everything in house! What really made the dining experience stand out to me was the service. In addition to all the normal trademarks of a good server, he just radiated kindness--it felt like we were part of the family. 1000/10 would recommend Vegetarian options: Plenty! Wheelchair accessibility: Hands down the best accessable bathroom Ive ever seen.
Ordered chicken biryani . It tasted like pulav.
Courteous staff, fresh mango lassi and lemonade, well cooked chicken appetizers and chef special madras curry. Keep it up. Sapna is an excellent host.
Great food ! And very friendly staff !
Great place, great food, a tiny bit slow but well worth the wait. Take your time and enjoy. This is not a fast food place, the good things in life take a little longer.
