This cozy spot has a warm, inviting atmosphere, with a minimalist decor that adds to its charm. The service was attentive and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. As for the food, the katsu was absolutely perfect. I tried the classic pork katsu, which was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a golden, light panko crust. It was served with a savory katsu sauce that complemented the flavors without overpowering them. The rice was fluffy, and the shredded cabbage added a fresh, crunchy contrast to the richness of the katsu.
A really charming interior, with many cute lights. The food was super flavourful and the meat/seafood juicy. I got the red carbonara udon and it packs a spicy kick!
I went here with my friends yesterday, and we had a great time. The atmosphere is nice and the workers are friendly. And obviously, the food was great, especially the Carbonara Katsu which my friend got. Now, Katsuya usually never disappoints with their portions, but I noticed that in my Brick Cheese Katsu, my portion was significantly smaller than when I ordered the same thing back in March. It still tasted good, but I didn't get a single cheese pull and was a bit disappointed considering I paid $22 for it ($26 w/tax + $2 tip, so $28 total). I normally get this same dish every time (because I am obsessed) and this has been the only time the portion was this small. Also, me and my friends tried the cheese balls and we don't recommend that. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience, but I don't think it was worth the price this time. Hoping for a better portion size in the future!
Good katsuya meals which is their specialty, especially the Red Carbonana Katsu. Their miso soup and shrimp tempura with Tartar sauce (both not available anywhere else) are simply great. Just tried their new Crabmeat croquettes (3pcs) for $7.50 Great Japanese management service with a smile. Another new dish, Carbonara udon was also great. The sauce is so rich of shrimps, clams, and cuttlefish. There is still a 10% cash payment promotion.
First time at Katsuya, place’s vibe is 5⭐️, staff are nice, service is fast❣️, serving size is good for the price and food tastes good! Cravings satisfied! Suggestion: tofu + green onions + seaweed for the miso soup ☺️
I have always loved going to Katsuya. They always have everything prepared fresh and perfect. I'd recommend dining in instead of UberEats as the food is fried and would crispier if eaten in-restaurant. We ordered the carbonara cheese katsu, curry chicken katsu, and crab meat croquettes. My favourite dish though is the red carbonara cheese katsu, which I would definitely recommend.
I’m really sorry to give a bad review but feel I have to for this place. I had heard about this place and other reviews said it was good. I am not sure if I just had a bad experience but thought to let people know. I came into the restaurant and it was fairly empty. I got a seat with my family and we started to look at the menu. The table had a QR code, but the QR code didn’t work in order to see the menu. They handed us old takeout menus that were dog eared. It was all consistent. The menu I received items crossed out to the menu. The other family members received had everything included when we asked about one item they told us it was available at this location for the the red carbonara Katsu, the onion Katsu and the cheese Katsu service was quick in fact a little too quick. My onion Katsu was nothing like what the photo showed. I had 1/3 of the plate filled with cabbage, and the cat who cutlet sitting on top of the cabbage, and Surrounded were swimming in. The whole entire plate was a very runny liquid. What I think was onion soup The soup was cold. Pork was warm. Overall everything was soggy was not a good experience. We also tried the red carbonara the sauce was creamy however it had odd random pieces of shrimp and pieces of bacon in it, which was very odd the other dish which was most puzzling was the silver and gold , brick cheese Katsu. This was the worst that she had a very off taste.. we noticed that one piece had a pink colour and we realized that the pork was red bleeding on the cheese when we asked about this the server said that’s the normal reaction with the cheese to the meat. We felt funny about it ate another piece. It tasted really off put the food down and try to enjoy what we could however, by the end of the meal I was sick to my stomach and in the bathroom - the air conditioning was also not working it was extremely hot in the restaurant And it makes me wonder if the food was either going bad or wasn’t cooked properly like I said I don’t give a bad but if food is going to make me sick, I have to share that with others. Since we showed the server, the food was pink. They should have taken it back and cooked another meal, but they didn’t for my onion Katsu. I don’t understand why it was swimming in a liquid onion water that was very offputting. I was thoroughly disappointed and I really don’t think I will come back again. This is not the first time I’ve had Katsu, I’ve tried other places that were much better so disappointed.
It’s my first time trying traditional Japanese cuisine, Katsuya. The food was very well cooked and tasted delicious. Quantity is more than enough and very satisfying.

We were in the area and stopped in. We ordered the original katsu and the Japanese katsu. Both were crispy and delicious. The service was great and friendly. Prices were good also!

I ve tried the location in Stc but it was the first time at this location. The server recommended something on the menu and I was absolutely glad I tried his recommendation. The food was top notch, fresh and filling. The service was great and my food didn t take long. Really enjoyed my meal and will be back.

Long time no see Katsuya. Love Japanese curry from time to time. If you like chili I strongly recommend the garlic chili pork katsu. The pork goes well with the chili.

I recently visited Katsura and had an amazing experience! The Japanese katsu was fantastic the pork was perfectly crispy and full of flavor. The miso soup was also delicious and complemented the meal wonderfully. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving authentic Japanese cuisine.

Never have I tasted such incredible katsu. The mouth feel and crunchiness was impeccable. The atmosphere and vibe is as the youths of today would say, lit. If you are about to exit the world of the living and enter the shadow realm, please visit Katsuya for your last taste of chicken katsu.

The place is great if you want Katsuya. It does seem to be limited in its menu compared to the other locations. But its got the staples. Id suggest the Katsuya Udon.

The food looked very good when it came out, but it wasnt as hot as I thought would be, I expected a deep fryed pork being hot when I try to eat it, and the pork tasted plain for me, but the creamy udon was really good, very recommend trying.
Dined in. Portions have shrunk and prices raised. Theyre using Chinese rice instead of Japanese or Korean rice. Chinese rice are more loose whereas Korean/Japanese are stickier. Not sure if only this location that is using the Chinese rice or all locations.

They really cutting the cost on food, used to have side dishes, now no more, and feels like their cheese is cheese wiz as the meat was not even hot but the cheese was runny, used to be good, shame
Dark environments, they just opened half of all the light, and the staff there all chatting with each others and on their phones in the counter.
The qualities really gone down. It used to be so good. The rice literally clumped together which didn t taste fresh. I understand that the price went up due to inflation but somehow I feel that the portion went smaller. Also, they used to have miso soup with kelp inside but they served us plain bonito soup. 15% tips with party over 6 people btw.
2nd time here, the 1st visit was in the Yorkdale branch. We ordered udon carbonara and red carbonate pork loin! All were very good.

Been here a few times for both take out and dine in Food was pretty good for the most part but I did notice that the rice was a bit overcooked and some of it was hard/dry compare to normal fluffy white rice, also would be better if the carbonara sauce wasnt so watery would be better if its thicker
Always ordered from Uber eats. Food is always good. HOWEVER, whenever Im adding for example an extra curry sauce on my order, the staff at this location misses to include this a couple of times and is very frustrating. Katsuya staff at Scarborough, please get it together.
