Amazing place everything is made from scratch and with love. They have great Christmas gifts from baskets to gift cards and boxed cookies or even their panettone. They have beautifully hand painted traditional marzipan. You can truly see the time it took to paint each fruit with such realism. Definitely a must try!!! The owners are amazing and this place deserves so much more recognition

I won t be ordering from here from any apps anymore. They refused the order to my delivery person and the order had to be cancelled after one hour of it being placed. Weird issue to have, weirder for it to take a full hour before being resolved. That being said, the food is great, and the in person service is ok. Definitely stop by in person if you can, I d recommend pretty much everything from the hot food table to the pastries and bread. I regularly get the chicken parm sandwich which is some of the best I ve had in Toronto.

The food was delicious, and the bread tasted fresh. I was a bit bummed that I couldn t get eggplants in my sandwich, but the rest of the meal was great. The service was quick and efficient, which was a nice touch.

No prices for hot foods and the servers also don t know the prices. I was shocked to pay 7.99 for three medium sized stuffed shells. The hot foods are very over priced and not as tasty at all as they used to be. Please put out a menu so people can see before ordering.

One of my favorite places

Best Panettone I have ever tried, but it is a bit pricey but you get what you paid for, my wife can not stop saying WOW with the traditional Milanese panettone with almond glaze. The girls behind the counter are all very lovely and beautiful. Great place:)

Francescas bakery is a great local Italian Bakery that has a great hot table selection. The staff here is also amazing Aline and Rawaida especially make every visit a pleasant one. Amazing customer service.

Great hot table selection and lots of fantastic cakes and pastries. I had the Sicilian pizza and the meat arancini which were both delicious. Also got an almond croissant and some other pastries which were all great.

A Scarborough institution. Amazing baked goods, phenomenal lunch options (sandwiches, soups, pizzas, etc), catering for all occasions, a selection of hard to find imported products, and just lovely staff. Lucky to work down the street. Always pop in when I can.

Ordered couple of times here, their pistachio cake and it was delicious. We also tried their bombolini, it was good as well! I just wish they have more variety in terms authentic Italian pastries available , but that is asking for too much! I have been to Italy in two separate trips and went around the peninsula, including Sicily, I love the pastries in Sicily, Campania and Puglia regions the most compared to other regions and I was hoping to see some here.

Great place to go. Great food and deserts. The service from the staff is amazing. They are friendly and helpful.

November 2024 Grabbed a veal sandwich to go at 10:15 am so it was still pretty fresh. It tasted like it sat there the whole day. 1/5 veal soggy and tasted like it left overes from previous day. It was not seasoned properly also 5/5 bread crispy crust and fluffy on the inside 4/5 mushroom very good 5/5 grilled pepper excellent. There was 5 staff in the service area and stood there for four minutes when noone acknowledge me and there was no other customers in line or the area. Repeat maybe there are so many choice around the corner at the scarborough town center or mnay chinese food court less then five minutes drive. June 2024 Solid lasagna and veal sandwiches. I can drop by the weekend since they close at 4 pm and usually sell out way before that on weekdays. I try and aim for 11 am or just before the rush. That way the veal and pasta has not been sitting and cooking for hours on the hot table to make it tough, chewy and less tasty. Another reason why i go early is parking is tough.

Really enjoy their cappicinos....only authentic cappicino one can find in Scarborough. I like their pizza and pasta too. Highly recommend. Sometimes their is no seating or only a chair near the shelf table infront of the door...they are very popular now and likely need to expand to have sufficient seating.

Highly recommend Francesca for catering. They did an excellent job for our retirement party and everything was delicious. We ordered chicken cutlets, lasagna, pizza and cake from them. The order was ready on time and everyone really enjoyed the food. Dietary restrictions: We needed gluten and dairy free for one of our guests and the meal was perfect.

Gooooooood homemade style Italian food!

Awesome place for cakes, pastries or hot food. I usually order cakes for my familys birthday from there. Sometimes I go there on a Sunday for lunch or just for a coffee and pastry. I really enjoy their rice balls (arancini). Got a veal sandwich last time and was very happy. Still exploring all their different offerings. If you are on the fence, give this place a try, you wont regret it!

Excellent cake! This is the second wedding cake I try that was done at Francesca bakery and I highly recommend. The cake texture is light, no fake colouring, the cream and layers are the oerfect sweetness and thickness. Had the mango cake and also the pistachio cake. Doesnt disappoint, highly recommend.

I ordered an eggless Italian cake for a birthday celebration, and it was a hit with everyone. The taste was exceptional, with just the right level of sweetness. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The place is always bustling with customers and why not. I have tried their cakes, cookies, tarts and pastries. I love their preparations. Highly recommended

Went there 5 years ago and was disappointed. Went back today to give it another chance and was more disappointed. The veal was dry as dust,and tasted frozen.Zero flavour in the breading and the meat. Will not be going back again. At least the diet coke was good.

Simply Delicious!

I had a very stressful task ahead of me, find a sfoglia cake my father would approve of. He is one tough critic when it comes to his sfoglia cakes. When he saw the cake he was already pleasantly surprised because it looked beautiful, then he was even more surprised when it was still crispy inside and tasted wonderful 10/10. One thing that this bakery does which all don t do, sfoglia is made same day instead of the day before allowing for this wonderful Texture. Thank you for making his birthday even better.

Francesca Italian Bakery is the place to be for almost everything when it comes to food. All the Foods are Delicious Hot & Cold. Coffee & Desserts the Best of all the Best. Owner & Son very friendly. Fantastic Italian bakery / deli on top side of Toronto. Been here for veal sandwich and pizza. Both were delicious. Used up my remaining daily calories on a napoleon, Awesome! There are other options for food at the counter. Plus ready made cakes, desserts and fresh bread. Parking: Parking lot can get busy. If arriving during busy time, park on the street nearby. Kid-friendliness: Not a huge place. There is some seating to dine in.

Stopped in for lunch. I was excited to try a focaccia sandwich however they were out! I went with a different sandwich instead. All the filling was good but the bread was a bit stale. I love a hard Italian bun, but this one just tasted old I was disappointed and was looking forward to this lunch all day. I will have to try their other dishes there as they have an amazing looking hot table I didn t get the chance to try. Maybe I went too late in the day for lunch (even tho it was 12:30). Their desserts looked amazing, like from a TV show. They were delicious. They have many Italian grocery options. I will try again to see if it was a one time miss.

My only problem with this place is that they care less to make enough Pistachio and Nutella croissants to serve their customers. How does it make any sense for them to prepare such tiny batch to get sold out at 10 am if business hours are till 4pm.

Update your opening days especially on long weekends, shows its open when its not. People drive from far to find out that your website shows open when its NOT

Omg!!!! The mini cakes were soooo good!!! Everything is sooo good in this store. During holidays they make special cakes or dessert and they are always amazing!! They have gelato ice cream - out of this world!!! If you havent tried this place- you are really missing out!!! Reasonably priced too!

Best cannolis in the city!

Food selection is OK, not too many fresh sandwich/ vegetarian options. Roast chicken was blend and didn t come with bread or rice. It is not a meal. Almond croissant was amazing. Service was good but atmosphere is below average.

Update (August 20, 2024): Please make sure you check your receipt. The cashier added (accidentally??) two items that I didnt buy on my receipt. I was overcharged $10.04. I originally bought only two items. It seems suspicious to make that mistake over a small purchase. I hurried back into the store and got my money back as cash. Just be careful folks. Im dropping the rating to three stars because this is suspicious. Original review: Great cakes and baked goods. Staff is friendly and accommodating! Parking: Parking is limited. It can be a long wait to get one.

Usually when we have birthday parties we have more than half left over and end up throwing it away. With this cake from Francesca we only had 1 slice left after guests ate it. My brother took half home and he rarely eats cake. Goes to show how delicious this cake was. We requested an egg free cake as my son has a severe allergy to it. We were very stressed out trying to find the right place and we are soooo so happy that we were able to get this cake here. It was moist, flavourful and best of all eggless. The picture of the firetruck was outstanding and nailed my and my husbands vision I love that we asked more than 3 times Assurance that the cake was eggless and the staff was soo beyond polite and reassured us that they sanitize and do their best to have no contact with egg I will definitely be purchasing my kids birthday cakes from here going forward and highly reccomend. 5 out of 5 Update: ordered my daughters 5th birthday cake picture attached. Was so delicious and decorated exactly as requested. Not one slice left after the event..all guests complimented it. 3rd eggless cake. Made exactly per request. No slices left at end of the party. 4th birthday cake ordered was probably the best one we have had yet. Picture attached Impressed yet again with the thomas the train cake. No slices left

Great pastries and helpful staff. So its a busy place. Try to get there before 11am to get the best selection. The pastries are really good. Theres so much to choose from. Also, great sandwiches, veal and pasta. I recommend the lasagna. Its my favorite! Also great coffees to choose from.

Was looking for the best Nutella Croissants online, and one of the suggested places was Francesca. This is/was a top-tier Nutella Croissant. The amount of Nutella they pipe into the cavity of the croissants is excellent. Their is no clean way to eat this croissant. You will get it on your face. I will definitely get more than 2 next time Im in the area. Food in hot bar also looks amazing. Parking: Small free parking lot right infront of the store.

Food

Generally I like this place but my last 2 experiences here have been horrible in terms of the service. The service normally isnt great here but the food makes up for it. This time however, I asked the girl at the counter about one of the hot deli sandwiches and asked if there was meat in it and she said yes. I then asked if there was mushrooms and told her my fiancee is allergic to mushrooms, she quickly said there was no mushrooms. Once I got it, I opened it up and there was no meat AND there were mushrooms in it! I asked her about it and she told me she misunderstood me and walked away. I was so fed up I tossed the sandwich in the trash and left. This behaviour was negligent and my fiancee is allergic to mushrooms, thankfully I opened it up before, but their refusal to compensate was a huge lack of accountability. I know this place has good food and my bad review on service probably wont get attention but had my fiancee eaten that sandwich, she would have ended up in the hospital. Had they compensated me at least in refunding the sandwich, I wouldnt leave a bad review but the service being as horrible as it is there has led me to this post.

Great option if youre in the area. The parking lot is a little small but people are usually in and out getting quick meals or party orders. Limited seating inside so be prepared. The ready made foods are amazing and plentiful. They have gelato, hot foods, baked goods, all good!

A hidden Scarborough gem

This is the best Italian bakery. I love everything I try there and Im picky. The rumballs are amazing, the sandwiches are so fresh and they cater their food for parties. I keep going back for more. Service is also good!

Such a neighborhood gem.

My girlfriend ordered a pizza here and asked if there was any meat as she is vegetarian and they responded with the pizza having no meat. When she later tried the pizza turns out there were bits of salami in the pizza. Think twice before ordering from here.

I visited this bakery after seeing so many great reviews, the pizza looked amazing so I asked if there was any meat since Im vegetarian. The worker said no and even confirmed this with another worker. I ate the pizza and realized there are tiny pieces of meat under the cheese and other toppings...I humbly ask the workers to stay informed on the ingredients in their products to prevent situations like this from happening again.

If youre used to agincourt bakery just skip this place. The Nutella croissant I ordered was hard and effectively hollow with no interior webbing. The Rossa foccacia has olives baked into it. They seem to love baking olives into everything here. And they sell an empanda. Bold of an Italian hot table place to sell empanda. Everything I had was truly average to below average. Nothing wowed me. I would stick to the veal, cold cuts, fresh bread, cakes and whatever special pastry they are making got that week. I wont be back but you should still give it a try once.

Pay a visit to my Mother at the home on Sunday mornings and always pick her up Cannolis! Today went to Francesca Bakery as I was in Scarborough and she loved them!!! My mother has Dementia and doesnt remember me, but she remembers she loves ricotta cannolis!!!

Best Italian Bakery in the city. Staff could be a little friendlier at times.

I make the drive from Newmarket every sunday morning. The food here is out of this world, buns and bread are baked fresh daily. The arancini are better than I had in Sicily and the lasagna is unbelievably delicious. As for the staff at Francescas in my 3 years of coming here I have never seen a more amazing crew of employees. No matter how busy they get on a Saturday or Sunday morning the service has always been 100%. They really do pride themselves on being so well organized and making sure each customer is attended to in such a timely manner. I recommend Francescas to everyone, nothing but the best for my friends and family!

Authentic Italian deli and lunch spot in the east end. They have a hot food section for that quick pick me up veal sandwich lunch; a cake, pastries, and dessert section including gelato, and a good coffee bar. Anything pistachio is good, as are almond cookies, the cannolis, and neapolitans. Liberal use of almond flour and powder in their cookies make them moist and tasty. Has a loyal following for lunch. Small plaza so parking can be a pain but youll find a spot eventually as people go in and go out quickly. FYI that washrooms are in the basement.

Recently, ordered my son s second birthday cake in vanilla and chocolate flavoured in Baby shark theme. The cake was very good and amazingly done. All our friends loved it. The best ones I have tasted in recent times. Very well done. 100/10! Thanks a lot for making our special day even more special.

If youre looking for hot or cold food that is Italian and delicious, then this is the spot. All staff are helpful and nice. Its a little pricey but worth it. Love it@

Its a great place, a nice enviroment

Disappointing. I saw this place on google maps with a ton of good reviews & also saw that they sell lasagna as well as Nutella bombolone. I wanted to give it a try. I got there around 2:30 PM. Unfortunately they were all sold out & werent making anymore. Half their pastry display was sold out & it seemed like they were packing up to leave. All the hot foods were lifted out and they were cleaning the area as if they were done for the day. Mind you, they close at 4:00 PM. I drove to Lamannas Bakery instead. Another good spot is Novello Desserts.

Great hot table and pastries... Ive had quite a few rice balls and other foods from here and they dont disappoint,prices are a little higher than other bakeries,but worth the extra cost..

I ve been here a few times over the past year and left happy with my purchases every time. Their ricotta chocolate chip danish is my favourite pastry to get on a weekend morning: buttery and flakey, rich with ricotta that s speckled with semisweet mini chocolate chips. Their other butter pastries are excellent but be sure to get there early for the filled croissants! I count myself lucky if they have pistachio or nocciola croissants available. If you re looking for cold sweets, they serve crema caffè throughout the year and gelato in the summer. They also have pints of gelato available for purchase to take home.

Amazing food with even more amazing cakes!!! They did my daughters 2nd birthday cake which was mermaid themed. They absolutely smashed it. Definitely recommend

Local Italian gem in Scarborough bakery, cafe, deli, and grocer with fresh hot-table items. Their tortellini was very fresh and flavourful. The mango mousse cake was okay. My dad s a big fan of their veal sandwich. Love the variety of fresh food and baked goods!

The desserts are fresh & attractive. The place is very clean & positive vibes are all over the place. Make sure to bring your appetite and come here! You will truly be lost with what you want to eat cause the variety is unique! And the cherry on top is the cheerful happy smiles and positive energy of this place! Hands down some of the best traditional Italian pastries in Toronto. Do not miss out on their Zeppole, Tiramisu, Cannoli and ESPECIALLY not their Napoleon. I cant say enough good things about the Napoleon, incredibly creamy, buttery and flaky (best Ive ever had, 11/10).

Amazing danishes!

The food here is pretty good if you re looking for something quick to grab. It is not always the freshest if you re going closer to when they re closing. I d recommend going when they open for lunch. The service is alright, but it does get hectic when a ton of people walk in at the same time. I have had some problems in the past with the employees serving other people who had gotten in line after me first. The place is usually pretty clean and open to eat in or take out.
