2301 Brimley Rd #133, Scarborough, ON M1S 3L6, Canada
They have a discount card that reduces the total cost, however it's for specific items only. Ordered the chicken and fried tofu with fried fish. Food is alright.
I come here frequently for the $10 breakfast special that includes a bowl of congee and rice noodle rolls. The food is authentic Hong Kong style experience and really great value. You know it’s good when the customers are mostly older Chinese people. Service is decent but a bit slow especially when it’s busy, which isn’t really the restaurants fault. It’s a food court, atmosphere is what you’d expect.
Price of food still highest in the food court and elsewhere too. Taste standards have lowered as well. However, their sister restaurant-Canton noodles serves fresh and crispy Fried dough and cheaper than that other shop Happy Congee. The Plain rice rolls for $5.00 is a bit on the high side, not to mention other meat-filled rolls.
Here for the first time. Lots of parking outside of the mall. The food is okay a little too salty, price is reasonable as shown in the pictures. Customer service is not so great the staff was talking so fast feels like in a rush.
Delicious food, reasonable prices, large portions with generous meat and veggies. These two dishes (#8 & #59 I think) came to total of $25. Fresh crunchy vegetables, good texture on rice noodles, great "wok hei", not too salty. Fast and friendly service.
July 18 order jumbo won ton without noodle. Only ok if you compare them to Big trio won in the same plaza but across the parking lot. They specialize only in won ton so Big trio is much better. Value 10/10 Taste 6.5/ 10 they had a decent sized shrip in each won ton but the ground pork was not a velvety as I expected. Seasoning was a light also $ 9.25 but not a repeat order . ------------ New owners for a few months. But still ok. I don't expect a lot of customer service or positive interaction but food is ok. Ordered salted pepper pork chop with rice. Second dish was spicy satay beef chow mein. Prices went up but they still accept the old vip card on some items. But most items for Canton kitchen
Edit Jun 2022 This time we ordered via Fantuan (pickup). Same good experience. We especially LOVE the 鹹魚肉餅飯. Look at that big piece of salted fish!! It's rare to see. Other restaurants usually just mixes some minced salted fish in the pork. Unfortunately 腸粉 is way too hard/chewy, especially when it cools down a bit. 2021 I visited this place for takeout coz my mom had a sudden crave for 油條 and 粽. Price is good, food is tasty, but the wait time is ridiculously long. Almost 30 minutes.
They offer a great variety on their take out menu. You can order dinner set or a la carte. I ordered their 4 main courses dinner set with rice. Each dish was made to order. The food quality was fresh and tasty. The portion & price was reasonable. There was a short queue while I was there around dinner time. If you order there, you will need to wait 15-20mins. This was a good place to get affordable and tasty take out food. We came here again for lunch boxes during lunch time. The food was always fresh and the quality was consistent. Recent Visit: I came here to buy some take out for dinner. I ordered the 3 main courses dinner set with rice. I heard they changed to a new owner recently, but that did not affect their quality. The food was still good and the portion was very generous. The price was really affordable for Chinese food.
I ate the steel wire in my first bite
Today, I ordered beef & tomato on rice and it was very disappointed as 4/5 portion was soggy rice. Hardly any beef & tomato. I noticed every since management change over this place is no longer the same. Sadly, I wont be coming back any time soon.
I ate the pork ribs. I won t come here again. Please avoid this restaurant s pork ribs.
This place serves the usual quick & easy fast food so do not expect taylor made dishes like that in the big restaurants. I ordered Teng Zai congee which usually comes with some seafood and fried peanuts. I hardly found any trace of seafood other than a few tasteless shrimps and a lot of shredded fried pig skins. They put ground beef in the congee which was a surprise. The peanuts is something I picked up and threw away as they were stale and tasted horrible. Mustve been in storage since Christmas. I also tried its egg/beef rice, pretty tasty except the rice was little tough. I still will come here and try other dishes though, as for someone who came here to visit, this is already a luxury compared with what we have back home. It was the first time I had Tingzi porridge with beef. Unfortunately, there was too little seafood, too much pork skin, and the peanuts had gone bad. Their beef rice with smooth egg is quite satisfactory, but the rice used is too hard. I will continue to patronize this place to try other fast food dishes. After all, for me, a Texas red neck, the food here is of the highest quality compared to Texas. :-)
I visited Canton Kitchen on the evening of July 8, 2024, and my experience was disappointing and frustrating. There are a couple of issues I feel compelled to mention: 1. VIP Discount Cards Misleading: I was excited to use my VIP discount card for my first purchase, only to be informed at the counter that the card cannot be used for first-time purchases. This crucial detail was not mentioned anywhere before purchasing the card. It felt like a bait-and-switch tactic, which was totally unacceptable. 2, Food Safety Concern: I purchased two cups of soy beverage from the fridge, expecting it to be chilled. To my surprise, the beverage was just a bit lower than room temperature. This is a clear violation of food safety standards, as such drinks need to be kept at a specific temperature to ensure they are safe for consumption. 3. Beverage quality: The soy beverage did not taste like soybeans; it just tasted like sweetened water with a milky color. Overall, these issues significantly detracted from my experience, and I urge the management takes steps to address these concerns promptly.
Good place for Chinese takeout. Now prices gone way up with quality slightly declining, and longer waits Kid-friendliness: It is. With space for them to run around
The food comes out quickly, the price is fair, and the taste is good. For me, a Northeastern person, the food is a bit bland. There are several large stoves side by side and you can see the cooking process. The chefs occasionally sing karaoke while cooking. I am often too lazy to cook and buy a few and The food comes home and the whole family is full and happy.
Mediocre ingredients and small portions. Won t be returning.
it was a disappointing experience here. The order took 45 mins during a steady flow of traffic, only for 1/2 items to incorrect upon getting home. Prices are standard, food was alright-too fatty and salty compared to other chinese food courts. Overall, it wasnt bad, but I rather go to another one in the future, and dont see myself frequenting here anymore.
Fried Shrimp w/Egg no egg , shrimp swim in the water
Ordered delivery through Fantuan. I would say more than half of the chicken is bloody, and they said it s a normal situation of cooking chicken in Cantonese cuisine.
What the hell? The noodles are thick, the meat is tasteless, there is no taste at all and you are calling it a signature dish?
Very rude staff. Have a to wait forever to get the food. Staff treats you as they give free food. Ignore this place. Not hygiene at all
The service attitude is very bad
Good food good service
Poor attitude, unskilled waiters, increased prices, reduced portions, and there was hair in the dishes! ! !
Always order take outs from here, then just realized I never leave a review. We ordered the lobster combo. And changed the lobster to The lobster is good, lots of meat. The sweet and sour pork is crispy. Chicken is good. Fb:Mandy IG: torontogroupbuy IG & YouTube: Mandilicous Tiktok & Fb: Missmandilicous for food & lifestyle posts in GTA
Awesome takeout at reasonable prices. Usually get the eggplant with pork neck and hand pulled salt baked chicken combo deal which is like $25. Other dishes are good as well, lots of options.
Right fight
The boss quickly asked what the service attitude of the forty-year-old woman wearing a black mask and long hair tied up at the front desk at the rice roll stall was? How rude! It greatly affects the business quality of your store! He even rolled his eyes at the guests, looking like he was going to die! It affects the guest s mood so much! ! It was always good to eat here before, but now it s so disgusting! This female front desk is really embarrassing to your boss!
Ordered a combo and a recommended items. It took totally 21 minutes, (while there is no lineup, and the couples of small orders are done), I am the only one customer wait. If the order to make shengjian bao is tasty, I will be OK. But, the bao is chewy, and the meat filling is dry( not recommended). The congee and the fry dough is just average.
Forgot that my parents warned me it was new owners and didn t taste as good. I ordered the usual Singapore noodles. It was dry/hard/powdery. The beef rice noodle had strong burnt smell/taste but I didn t see the beef burnt. That means it was possibly being cooked on a wok that wasn t cleaned :( Thrown out
It s not as delicious as before, it s getting worse and worse It s completely different
The worst customer service I ve ever encountered. To the owner: No where in the food industry can survive for long without proper customer service skills. You are losing out, despite your food is quite average. This is the busiest store in the food court, they are not appreciating the business then we would support the other stores instead.
I cant help but feel unhappy. The most basic quality of a restaurant is honesty. There is an old cashier at the front desk who tries to trick customers into overcharging them. You are not helping the boss make money but helping him pour rice. It is easy to drive away customers but hard to save customers. , seek blessings from yourself.
The chicken is not fresh. The meat is dark and smells bad. Foods are heavily seasoned to cover their in-freshness. Won t go again.
Ordered the sweet and sour pork for Mother s Day dinner. Wanted their sauce separate and they charged us an additional 20 cents for the container. No other places do. Paid $12 to get this amount of food, which was VERY embarrassing bringing to a dinner table. The sauce was also MEH. Didn t even taste great. Don t recommend.
Ordered Fried rice noodles with beef take it has no tease at all and with only a few pieces of beef you see in the picture. This isn t the fist time that take out has little to no meat. Order sweet and sour pork last time only to find there was only 3 pork. They have new staffs working, I believe they maybe have changed owner. It s sad to see my favourite place to order fried rice noodle with order has gone this bad. The cashier lady is also rude and gives you dirty look if you take/ask them for hot sauce. Especially when you have to fill the hot sauce your self and they expect you to bag it yourself when your done filling the hot sauce cup.
Used to be good. After that, the staff were completely different so I guess they changed owners. Ordered steamed fish and other food from them. When food was ready, we found the fish wasn t fully cooked, still raw. I brought the fish back and they re-did it and after that it s the same. I got mad and said we don t want it. Then, the boss gave me back the money. I will not go to this restaurant again and I will never recommend this restaurant to anybody.
Standard chinese plaza food court. Food from the businesses inside the food court are great. Food came out fast and fresh. Portions are great & good quality for the price. Can t go wrong for a quick meal or takeouts. Great selections of dishes amongst the businesses, plus you can get groceries from bestco in thr same plaza/shopping centre. Parking: Lots of parking spots although you may need to drive around or be patience
Food taste, portions, and price is average considering this is a food court stall. The 1 star is for poor customer service.
There was a pretty big crowd around this stall so I thought it was the best out of all others in the food court, but it was average. I later read the reviews and others felt the same - apparently the owner changed The cantonese fried noodles were pretty good (not that crispy though since it s takeout) but the general tao chicken tastes like sweet and sour pork so you re better off just getting that instead
Takeout is very slow, so be careful when ordering (^ ^ ) You can wait ten minutes when the time is up
This place is a rip off, when you order their dishes it doesnt come with rice and they give such a small portion but charge $15. I feel like I can get better food from the ready made section at Bestco. Dont go here, its not worth it.
Cheap and delicious food
Went back after a while and realized all the staff were different. The cashier lady acted really rude and was nothing like the old cashiers. After ordering, I got the food in just 5 minutes, only to find raw pink pork, a strand of curly black hair in the dry white rice, and no utensils or napkins. So disappointing, especially considering this used to be my favorite place to order cheap, delicious Chinese food. I will not be returning and do not recommend ordering from here.
Best take out place. Prices are reasonable.
Used to be popular but the current cashier is extremely rude and ignores you eventhough youre trying to get their attention. Better to go next door since they offer similar dishes and will treat you with respect.
Good food and good prices! Now with good delivery with Hungry Panda!
Super busy stall in the food court of Chartwell and for good reason. The food has good wok hei and prepared well. It can be difficult to get through to them via phone but if you walk in to order its usually prepared fast anyways.
Very Good place. Excell3nt service
Canton Kitchen is a classic spot across the Scarborough region for quick and easy Cantonese eats. You can find your favourite fried rice, noodles, and dinner options at reasonable prices! The quality is solid considering it is a food court spot compared to their restaurant competitors. There is always a line at the Chartwell Mall location (whether ordering in-person or calling ahead), so be prepared to wait a bit during the weekends, but the taste is worth the wait. Service is always fast and efficient, so dont expect them to be in a mood to socialize. Your stomach will thank you later!
Great value. But service is slow cuz they re alwsys so busy.
I think this takeout restaurant is the most popular in the food court. They are always busy and there s always a line up. Tip: make sure to preorder by phone or it will take a while.
No longer recommended after change of owner.
New ownership, disorganized. Rating based on food given price. Maybe the service and hygiene issues are one offs as they startup. HYGIENE: 2/10 staff not wearing mask (both in the kitchen cooking/prepping) + saw the cook pick meat up with his hands SERVICE: Ordered at 12:25pm, told 10 min for pick up. Got my 2 simple noodle soups at 12:58pm. FOOD: Previously really enjoyed the Guilin noodle soup but this version I personally dislike. The beef brisket taste is better by far. If I go back I d get that. DRINK: comes with a free drink. Soya milk, or go two shops down to pickup milk tea.
Didn t know this place was take over by a new owner, I ordered the same meal that I usually ordered, however I was told that this meal was not in the menu, I kept telling the employee I also have this order before, so the employee placed the order for me. I also made another order for my husband, this one also different from previously, it included rice and vegetable in a large container and the shedded chicken in a small container , but I just got a small box of rice in a small container without any vegetables. All I can say is new people new style. The taste of food was quite good, but not as good as previously.
Used to be really good but not anymore. I used to come here all the time and became close with the owner. Now that the owner is gone, so did the food quality and standard My Canto chow mein became canto chow mein soup. And its not just that Even the HK milk tea is just bad. They wont even give me extra milk Wont be returning
The service attitude is extremely bad. I used to go there many years ago, but when I went there today, I didnt expect the service attitude to be so bad. I ordered a meal and saw that she said there was milk tea, so I also asked for a milk tea. I just wanted to ask how far it is. There was nothing cold, so he asked me to go to the side to get some clay pot rice, asked several questions in the same way, and then didnt care about anything. I will never go there again with this kind of attitude.
Change of ownership. Quality and portion went down
I bought a box of Chinese beef tenderloin here yesterday. Later, I discovered that the beef tenderloin smelled bad. And the beef is quite unpalatable.... Its so bad to have such a business...
Some photos showing Canton Kitchen (unit 133) image. Its a new owner now, the old owner has moved to Wood side square, called Blooming Garden.
The shrimp intestines are so hard to eat, and the beef balls in the Jidi porridge are neither fish nor fowl.
Cheap, large quantity and delicious, Thai spicy and sour chicken feet are delicious
Their food is really good and their price is reasonable. Strongly recommend!
Come to eat next time! just amazing beautiful !so nice restaurant
Great food but unfortunately very poor customer service. I went in today to do a walk in take out order. When I got home, I realized one of the items were missing. I immediately call them to advise them of my order number and missing item. They denied it and would not offer a replacement. The item is worth less than $2. Due to covid, it s a hassle to go back to get it, if it was offered. However, there was nothing offered and they were flat out rude. It s the principle that matters. I was charged for something that I did not receive. Their poor customer service and rude attitude is appalling. Customers beware. Check to make sure you receive what you are charged for and brace for rudeness.
Delicious food, fast service, reasonable price, convenience location, if you want grab something quick for Chinese food during the day this the place recommended
Cheap, plentiful, rich choices, and fast delivery. Love the Hokkien fried rice and spaghetti with meat sauce.
Eye witnessed kitchen staff did not wash hands after using toilet. Will never go back again. If I could give lower rating, I would. This is outrageous, I crossed path as the kitchen staff walked out of the stall and I paid special attention to check if he would wash carefully, to my horror, he walked right out and I followed him to checked where he worked. He simply did not care even in public eyes. Extremely disappointing. Will advise all my friends to avoid this place.
Great price and quality! Very tasty for food court fast food! Super friendly customer service as well. Highly recommended!
The new restaurant I go to frequently lately, it s delicious
The food is okay. The stall is busy, but the wait after you order isn t long. Multi person meals don t come with a drink, but single meals do. It s a bit frustrating that the multi person meals are not mix and match. Rather they are pre-set combos. Also, the English takeout menu only has 4 meals listed per group size but there are actually 12 more combo options on the walls written in Chinese.
I ve been going here for several years now and enjoy the dish I buy but have never tried anything else. The beef with black bean sauce is good. They sometimes don t give a lot of meat but overall I like it.
A Cantonese fast food take-out joint in the Food Court of Chartwell Centre, made to order fresh rice rolls and piping hot congee to instantly warm you up, good quality and economical for lunch or snack.
Basically every time I want to eat rice rolls, this is the place to go.
There is a surprise in Ji Shui! (Burdock Soup) Delicious!
The rice rolls are small in quantity but not slippery. Yinji is much better.
great authentic Canton taste not stingy with portion/cutlery friendly cashier highly recommended
I have been coming here often and they are consistently doing well. This is a convenient takeout spot for hot/fresh food with authentic cantonese flavour. They offer reasonable prices with ample portions of food.
Good taste and clean
tasty! My favorites are garlic bone, Prince Chicken and black pepper beef ribs!
My favourite food court Canton restaurant.
You can never go wrong with the price tag, food quality and quantities it has. A congee combo is only 7.75 ( tax included) which include 1. Congee 2. Rice noodle roll OR 1. Congee 2. A sandwich 3. A hot drink. . Quality is fair for this price for sure.
Good foods and looks like the most busiest place around the food court.
Not worse
Too slow, rice rolls won t taste good
It was Good place!! Taste and price Good. Combo 7
A food stall in food court serving stir fry dishes. Price is right. Food is delicious.
Good place to eat, food is good @ a reasonable price. Strongly recommended.
High end glamorous dining? No. Decently tasty and solid quality for the price? Yes! I have the discount card which brings the cost down to a nearly unbeatable level. Located in the food court of a small plaza, when standing at the counter you can see the entire kitchen and the skill of the cook working at the wok. Phoning in your order is a good idea at dinner time whether picking up or sitting at the food court. The steamed half chicken and the stir fry beans, plus the steamed rice and self-serve tea, is good for two. So the rating is based in large part on the value of the dining. By the way, if you are unfamiliar with Chinese style steamed half chicken, then you should know that it is served cold here. Do not be alarmed by the colour of the meat or that areas around bone may be reddish. The chicken is cooked to a very specific level to keep it moist and tender while safe to eat. The skin should be eaten with the meat for your full enjoyment of the dish. The chicken is pre-chopped for your dining convenience so watch for little bone fragments. These are not criticisms of the dish, just FYIs for those trying it for the first time. Enjoy! Update March 2019: Hmmm, the place I know as Canton Kitchen still has a store front operating but right next to it is Canton Noodle so dont know what is going on with the location identification here in Maps. Nevertheless, CK continues to serve up tasty food in good portions representing great value for your dollar. The half chicken alone costs just about $6 with the discount card. And you can opt for the soya version if you find that more appealing. (And, yes, a whole rotisserie chicken is arguably an even better deal at Costco.)
Food for everyone piece range
Lunch is great value, each portion is fried individually~
Here is busy during lunch and dinner time.
Good traditional Chinese favours. Good portions and reminds me of my moms cooking. Great mid-day meal!!
Too busy. Staff rude. Ordering has no system. Waited for 40 mins during lunch time. NVR come back again.
The cashier was really rude I waited 20 mins for my food and she said is coming but never checked. Then finally realized she missed my order. I was fuming and wanted my money back. She had the nerve to yell at me. If I were the owner she would have been fired a long time ago. I understand these fast food chain does not have great service but yelling back at a customer is the worst service you can have. I took my money and grab my food elsewhere. Never coming back here again
Solid dishes, but the wait might be long come meal times... Lots of people take out from them!
The salty fish chicken fried rice here is good. Its better than the other Canton Kitchen locations and even Congee Queen. Only 4.75 at lunch time. A lot of selection of lunch special for 4.50. It comes with a soya drink or a soup. I will return.
Authentic Cantonese style foods, both presentation and taste are really good, the lotus root and pork with snow peas are so fresh, 10/10 would recommend.
Very good cheap chinese cantonese style fast food.
