The sweet and sour chicken balls were the best I ever had hands down, the sweet and sour sauce, the batter and three freshness. The Shanghai noodles hit too. Would definitely recommend
I ordered some food from here and there was nothing good about it. They forgot a part of my order, and the food was horrid. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
I have ordered from this restaurant few times. It's not the same all the time. Sometimes good and sometimes not at all. I find there food very oily and salty. Also there is no vegetables in there fried rice It's so plain. How can you sell food with no vegetables. I will never ordered again
I have ordered from this place a few times and the consistency is never the same. Sometimes good, sometimes not. The food I received last night is the reason I will never go there again. I ordered 2 shrimp wonton soup and there was ZERO flavor, it tasted like water.. I had to add some of my own seasonings to get it down. I called to let them know this and he offered to make me a new one but I politely declined. I drove 18 minutes to get there and another 18 back.. This is at almost 8pm at night. NOBODY wants to leave there house again after that.. He didn't offer another solution ( even though I've been there a few times). Then to my surprise, I found a hair in my soup and at that point I didn't even call back. My total order was $53 dollars!!! The egg rolls were expensive so I was expecting it to be a good size but it was tiny, same situation for the steam bun that was ordered. Anyways, that is unfortunately the last time I will be ordering from there.
Ordered chilli chicken and fried rice takeout. The food was really flavorful and came in big portions. Definitely going to continue ordering from here.
Heard a microwave door open and buttons being pressed. The owner gives off doesnt care and don't want to be there vibe. Food was $16 for fried rice and fried chicken. Portions are less than what it used to be. Wasn't gonna write this review until I spent most of my afternoon feeling nauseous and now I'm in the toilet writing this. AVOID
Food arrived reasonably warm. Not really "BOGO" once prices are seen. Sweet and sour pork with fried rice; fried chicken with fried rice ( rice substituted for egg rolls) hostess actually called and asked what I wanted instead of rice 😬; crabmeat wontons; ALL "BOGO" on skip 😬 fried wantons was SERIOUSLY fried a wee bit crunchy; fried chicken juicy tasty they chopped up the damn bones and threw it in there as well 😑. Rice a tad greasy but good. Specks of eggs no veg in rice. Sweet and sour pork not dry and flavorful. Egg rolls are greasy and barely filled with yumminess
I wanted to support a new local restaurant, but I guess it was a mistake. This is supposed to be sweet and sour chicken. Big chunks of clearly frozen dry chicken not even covered in sauce, huge chunks of vegetables and pineapple also barely any sauce. Very disappointed.
Best food and service
We love the fried chicken on rice. Best ever
I always get the wings, fried rice, and spring rolls they know my regular order
Amazing fried chicken and bbq chicken + rice everytime. Good prices too
19.99 for a chicken wing meal fried rice combo came with 3 wings rice and vegetables rip off
Found hair in my food, called the restaurant and the man said he was not the manager and couldnt do anything about it
This food was so disappointing. Zero flavour.
Tried the general tao s chicken and it was delicious and in good quantity for a reasonable price. Would definitely try some different dishes again.
I dont care what these reviews say honestly the food was so good. We ordered quite a bit of food not only was everything there but everyone one in the family loves it. #YUM
Good food, dim sums were really good. Parking available. No dine in. Parking: Located at a small strip plaza, with couple of parking spots. Usually not busy so youll find enough lots. Food : 4/5 |
House of China is a small, hole-in-the-wall take-out Chinese Restaurant which also does its own delivery (much cheaper prices plus discount when ordering direct rather than via delivery apps eg uber, skip, door dash etc.) Owned and operated by 2 talented Chefs, this hardworking Brother/Sister team will wow you with their culinary skills, attention to detail and excellent Customer service. In fact, you will find it hard to believe that every hat is worn by only two people. The only assistance are drivers, but Ive had several late night orders delivered by one of the owners so they also deliver. (Its very impressive how hard they work to keep their Business afloat.) Our 5 Favourite menu items are 1. Har gow (shrimp). Very delicate, nicely seasoned, piping hot and nice presentation. (Not doughy and bland like their competitors Har gow) Its delicious- they take pride in their food and have attention to detail. 2.Custard buns. These are extremely soft. They are light and fluffy like a cloud and soft like a babys cheeks with mouth watering light yellow custard that has a smooth delicious taste. 3. Créme Brûlée (Perfect) 4. BEEF and Vegetables - very tender - with several locally sourced vegetables. A great healthy choice! 5. Sweet and sour Chicken with fresh sweet and sour sauce. Made with fresh - never frozen, juicy chicken - with pineapple.
This is the only place in the entire part of Scarborough that you could actually get real authentic real price real reasonable real And I mean real Chinese food the best of the best and it Beat all the rest..
Ordered for delivery and they canceled 30 mins after placing the order they cancel it. Never ordering from her again
I got more what I expected here in a positive way Good foods and friendly owner. Food
I like the fried rice Its awesome
All the good reviews are probably friends and family of the owner. This place is gross.
I swear when this place use to be called Joe and Lin, this was THE SPOT for chicken and fried rice. Ever since there new owners took over it hasn t tasted the same, it s missing some TLC. I hope they get better
Very bad quality food...made up of expired ingredients....poor customer service.... treats Ubers drivers very bad in front of customer.....please boycott the restaurant
Very good Chinese food. The food tasted fresh and flavourful.
Decided to give this restaurant a try through Skip. VERY disappointing. The rice was edible and the chicken balls cooked, but I was surprised they were even cooked through. When I opened my chicken chow mein the noodles werent even cooked. Like the sauce was just poured on top and they expected it to cook in that. 100% dont recommend. Save your money.
Had to wait 30 minutes for the restaurant to cook very small portions. Another 26 minutes for delivery. Chicken balls huge as size, because of batter. Inside chicken meat the size of an index nail. Chicken wings very small and meat was pink on them. Was charged for a big soup, when in fact was given a small soup. 5 spring rolls were $5.99 for very little food. Chop suey was free, cold and watery. Total order was $51.00 Restaurant is stingy with low quality food and asking big prices. Was refunded $30.00 by Skip. Pass off this joint. Waste of time, money, taste, quality and food expectations. Staff answering the phone was polite. Only good thing mentioning about House of China. Will I order again!? You bet I wont, even if given free!...
The House of China is my favourite restaurant. Friendly service, fast, and the food as improved with the new management.
The food an delivery was excellent..Everyone should enjoy everything on the menu..Delicious !
I bought a soup from here and the the soup tasted like water and there was dirt on the container, please dont buy any soup from this place also the smoothies are very watered down.
My stomach hurts every time i eat the food.
The service was friendly but the food was over cooked if not burnt. Not that I was looking for authentic Chinese food, but this is far from authentic Chinese takeout as well. I grew up in a family that owns these type of restaurants and this is far from what I grew up knowing.
Try their signature fried chicken on fried rice and it is the best thing you will ever need. Ask for the wings and the honey garlic sauce as it is the best in town even better than the pub wings.
I love this place, the food is absolutely delicious and taste very yummy everytime, the smell from my chili chicken order being prepared got my taste buds already watering. Ive been visiting day after day since my first visit, trust me, you wont be disappointed.
Love the dumplings!
Rude
Was actually surprisingly quite good. It is mainly take out but it is clean and the fried rice in the fried chicken combo were fresh. Supporting local
Just a pick up spot. So no real atmosphere to judge. The 10% cash discount is only for in person and over the phone. Does not apply to online orders. So watch out! Food : 4/5
Tried this place for the first time today. Ordered dinner for two A and enjoyed the meal. Prompt service as well.
Tried there food for the first time. I had their General Tao Chicken and an order of there Chicken wings. It is to die for. Ask for a side of Honey Garlic sauce so you can have two different tastes. A great interesting fusion of Caribbean and Chinese flavours into one. New restaurant on the block go try it out as it is a family run restaurant.
Great, delicious food and speedy service. Perfect spot for chinese takeout during these tough times.
I ordered their curry chicken with roti and enjoyed the meal. Looking forward to ordering from them again soon!
Just tried this restaurant for the first time. The delivery service was on time. We enjoyed the food, which was hot and and very tasty. Will definitely order from here again.
Prices were good, food was good, delivery was fast, staff was friendly. Will for sure be calling them again.
A delicious mix between Carribbean and Chineese! If you go there order combo 1, delicious.
An overall excellent experience. The delivered order was correct, hot and delicious. Price was reasonable and portions were very generous. This is our first experience ordering here and we will definitely order again. If you havent then you must try this!
Unfriendly. Excessive soy sauce on our chowmein; excessive sugar in the pepper sauce and our fried rice. Wasted money spent. Do not go to this place.
We ordered chicken wonton soup , Har gow and steamed chicken dumplings. All were excellent , especially the dumplings were fresh and home made
Ive been eating here since back in the early 2000s when it was called Joe & Lynns. Since House of China has become a thing, the food quality has only gone upwards. Their lemon chicken is pretty good, staff are friendly, and their prices are very very good. Id rate them a easy 4.5 / 5
Ok the flavour is amazing. Very little sauce though. I wish there was more of it. As for portions, very generous. Wait is a little too much for me. 15-18 minutes. Polite gentle man.
Food was kinda bland. Not my cup of tea when it comes to Chinese food. Really nice employees though.
Fast Freshly Made Food , Delicious Taste The kids absolutely loved the sweet n sour chicken , I loved the Chili Chicken was flavourful . The man had told me it was a homemade sauce !! Thank you I will be back
