Great dumplings! Would definitely return. We ordered the following: 1. Pork and Napa Dumplings (12 pieces) - So much flavour inside! 2. Pork and Celery Dumplings (12 pieces) - Good! 3. Steamed Pork Buns (8 pieces) - Very tasty! Although there were a few small pieces of bones. 4. Green Onion Pancake - Thin slices, lots of green onions. Good!
The dumplings were very scrumptious and juicy. The soup were very tasty and authentic.
Small mom & pop place, minimum decor. Ordered, chive pancakes, celery dumplings and beef shank spicy noodles. Chive pancakes were hot and crispy but minimum chive flavor. I enjoyed the celery dumplings, the outer wrap was thick but chewy, very fresh celery taste, enough celery which have a nice crunch with each bite. Beef shank was sliced thin and tender. Soup broth was very spicy, so spicy it covered up the soup flavor, maybe there was not enough soup flavor to taste, couldn't tell as my mouth was on fire. They're known for their fried meat buns, maybe I'll try when I'm in the neighborhood again. They had a very busy take out crowd, appears neighborhood preferred to take out instead of sitting in. Decent food at a decent price,
Authentic Northeastern Chinese food, run by family. There are only 5 tables for dine in. But food are pretty good. Would recommend the fried pancake with fried dough inside listed as "fried egg pancake and douch" and baked pancake and pork" on the appetizer section. They ran out of the lamb steam dumplings at 1pm.
This restaurant can get really busy for dine in as it’s really small inside with roughly 5 tables ? I love their dumplings/ pancakes/ wontons/ noodles and especially their shredded potatoes ! The only thing I don’t like is their green bean noodle which tasted kind of hard…also their cucumber is not my taste…. If you like Tianjin food, this place is a must try! Service isn’t the best but they are friendly. Con- washroom is in the basement but clean.
We decided to try Tianjin for an early breakfast and try the northern China style foods. Ordered fried meat buns, pork leek dumplings, fried dough, green onion pancake, jellied bean curd, crust of cooked rice and rice bean congee. The last 3 items we ordered were more of a regional dish. The jellied bean curd was my favourite of the 3. Since I like bean curd and it’s textures. Crust of cooked rice was not what I’d expected. I was expecting the layer of rice at the bottom of a pot when cooking rice. Which is crunchy and has a charred smell and flavour. Congee was the region’s style and consistency. There also not enough filling in the dumplings. My favourite dish was the fried meat buns. Some of the dishes requires acquiring a taste for. Next time when feeling adventurous I will come back and try other dishes to validate if I like this region’s food profiles.
I am not sure whether it is the original taste from Tianjin but I like it a lot. I also talked to the customers in the restaurant when I was eating and found out there are lots of customers originally from Tianjin like the restaurant as well. I enjoyed the pancake every time!
So their beef is good. The beef roll (though, strangely no sauce) was tasty and crisp. The beef in the soup noodle was also tender and delicious. However, their dumplings are not good. The wrapper is too thick and very gummy for the boiled ones. And the pan fried dumplings have very little filling, especially the beef dumpling. The flavours are good tho. I would go back for the beef roll, but nothing else.
I enjoyed our lunch and the staff was really good. I had the soup with wontons, very good. I will be going again.
The taste of hometown is delicious!
The boss is nice and the wife cooks delicious food. The taste is so authentic that I can feel the feeling of being in China. We saw this on Xiaohongshu and came a bit too late, 30 minutes before closing; despite this, he gave us his full hospitality and was very accommodating. The food was authentic and he was mindful enough to cut our food into three according to our numbers. The floors, walls, and furniture weren t exactly modern and new, but were very clean. However, I kid you not, this is how most Chinese restaurants back in China are, and actually contributed positively to the atmosphere.
Food is super authentic and the price is really reasonable. It s a small family-owned business, so the service and decor is a bit outdated but nevertheless food is amazing Food
The best restaurant in Tianjin!
I often visit, but today I found mosquitoes in the wontons, and I lost my appetite. I also found a wire before, and reminded the store owner that it is not easy to see them. Today I found mosquitoes that are really speechless. We need to pay attention to hygiene. Ah, otherwise the guests will run out
I went there to eat several times before, but I won t go there anymore. Dishonest businessman...
Very authentic Northern Chinese food! Not a fancy place, but you should try if if you re going for the true Chinese taste
The steamed buns are delicious I often go from Oakville to buy them to satisfy my cravings. Although there are not many varieties, they are all quite delicious. There are also frozen ones that you can buy at home and steam yourself. Recommended tofu noodle.
Very relaxed setting when not busy. Extremely friendly and considerate staff, and fast service. Our go-to favourite dish is the Jellied Bean Curd soup. Other favourites include fried meat buns and pork/fennel bun.
I bought two thin pancakes. The fruit was so salty and unpalatable.
Delicious, very delicious, especially delicious, Affordable and worth a visit.
Great buns, great chili oil
Very nice staff and high quality food with low price. Ordered steam pans, meat pies pancakes etc. Everything is good.
The best traditional Chinese breakfast (Northern China Style)
Pancake fruit Tofu bread is a perfect combination. It tastes very good and the service attitude is also very good. I got an extra bun when I bought it today. I will come here more often in the future.
The thinner it gets, the more expensive it becomes.
I sit down for 30 mins for nothing. Waste my time with a simple sorry.
I have been patronizing this hometown snack bar for more than ten years. If you are not familiar with northern food, you can try all kinds of pasta, steamed buns, pot stickers, and pies. They are all delicious
Awful pot stickers worst we ve ever had. Extremely thick outer dumpling skin with pitiful amount of filling inside, and the taste was disgusting. Costs are rising but this is cheating customers.
arrived at 6pm on Thursday, suprised its closed despite the closing time is 730pm
I almost has to go to emergency and report to th government
So thankful to have them here offering authentic tianjin food. The tianjin pancake is a must try.
The best breakfast restaurant in the north
Tianjin s local cuisine caters to people from all over the world.
Dont say you are from Tianjin, what do you do?
Its real delicious Tianjin food, and the price is also very compatible.
For those people who says other places are better : Tell me! Tell me where we can get better dumplings! I really want to know! Or should I just go back to China for better dumplings? Oh please, I do think they have the best dumplings in Toronto.
It s delicious and fits the Chinese stomach perfectly. I want to eat steamed buns and tofu in the morning.
Probably not coming back after today
The worst service Ive ever experienced at a restaurant in Toronto. When we entered, there was nobody to greet us - no waiters in sight. We called out loudly and finally someone appeared. When we asked questions about the menu, the waiter lady answered rudely and bluntly. The waiters also never come out unless to deliver food; the restaurant is literally empty except for the customers. Another customer came in while we were waiting and he stood there for maybe 10 minutes and asked Is anyone there? and the waiter still never appeared...what kind of customer service is this? To top it off, we found a piece of hair on the buns, utterly disgusting. Worst restaurant ever, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
One of the best spots to get authentic chinese breakfast food
A little bit salty
Very delicious! The food is served quickly! I will come again
Small but very authentic Chinese breakfast restaurant.
Super good will come here again!!!
Affordable prices and delicious food
Great food, the baozi fillings are pretty big and the food provides great value for what you are paying.
For breakfast, I ordered a Tianjin tofu brain + pork and leek buns and a tea egg. The taste is suitable for my Fujian stomach. The buns are thin and meaty, and the soup is very delicious. The only drawback is that the tea egg has been stored for I don t know how many days. Tasty, and served cold.
Good quality and low price, very similar to the domestic feeling!
A small family run breakfast restaurant. Its quite authentic tianjing food and super affordable. I liked everything we tried except the pancake. Parking: Free parking in the small commercial section, but since its so small, you may not find a parking if its busy
Tianjin people certification
Great for a quick snack. Must been there for 15 years at least
They have English menu and food is bussing fr fr
This is probably the best Northern Chinese breakfast in Toronto. Price is so cheap that you hardly can find compatible ones in Toronto. Although the place is very small, you will expect to wait to be seated generally.
Delicious
small space, need to wait little longer, but it worth to wait.
Love their chilli oil.... Dumplings ....full of meat and flavour..... Food : 5/5
Lovely ladies who bring you home made delights. Will be back to try more menu items.
This steamed stuffed bun is a completely frozen pre-made dish. I ordered a spicy beef noodle. The noodles came with two drops of red oil floating on the clear soup. All in all, it s the best of the best.
As a Tianjin person, this is the most disgusting pancake fruit I have ever tasted. It feels like there are no eggs in it and I can t swallow it at all.
It s great. If you want to eat northern steamed buns, you can come here
I call. They hang up...... Not happy
Great dumplings and quick bites such as Jingbing and soy milk. Cash only.
Tofu brain is great
Went in the afternoon and the dough were still uncooked inside and there was raw flour, The buns and Pancake taste not really delicious.
very pog
The food its very much like mom home-cooked style but sometimes I do crave those food (and doesnt live with Mama anymore). I would give it three stars for the food, but I give it an extra star for the service of the staff and the decent price.
best in tianjin style
Shell of its former self. Used to serve excellent home-cooked food. Now everything tastes microwaved.
I like it, I will drive here every once in a while to satisfy my cravings
I really like their crepe! They have so many different options for breakfast, and you probably can t find anything like this for the price that they charge here at this restaurant. Will definitely revisit again in the future.
good Tianjin taste.
The pot stickers cost 7 yuan for 5 pieces each. The meat was so little that they were all covered in dough. It was too thick to swallow. The buns looked like leftovers. It took a long time to make just this little thing. Ubereat drivers have to wait for half a day for the merchant to finish. One star is too much. Is it worth the money if it doesn t provide cutlery or jealousy?
Perfect impeccable yyds
The tofu puffs taste good, the buns have thick skin and small fillings, and they taste just average. The pancakes are mediocre and taste a bit salty. You cant swipe cards, you can only use cash or EMT, which is not convenient. The sanitary conditions are really hard to describe, it really feels like a domestic stall.
Dog food! I don t think this store is good enough! I bought 2 cents of tofu and it was a small amount, so I only gave it a piece of chili oil. You can t save money on your guests, do you understand?
Needed more spice or taste, a bit brand taste
Not too many options. Taste good.
My boyfriend, who is from Tianjin, highly praised the pancakes! Infinitely close to the country! The tofu is delicious and the sesame sauce on top is super fragrant The buns - the skin is a bit dry. The cabbage, pork and cabbage fillings I ordered taste average. It feels like the soy milk is made by a soy milk machine, not the soy milk in the supermarket. And finally - the pie is simply seasoned. Not bad The store only accepts cash or Emt The store is a bit small, and the environment is like a domestic fly restaurant
Cute little resturant with authentic Chinese food. Brings me back to when I was growing up in China. The prices are quite fair. I will definitely return.
The three delicacies buns have a unique aroma. I also tried the beef biscuits, tofu puffs, and crispy rice dumplings, all of which were pretty good. After the other bun restaurant nearby closed, this is officially my favorite now. I like their seafood&meat bun, along with jellied bean curd. Another good thing about this place is that it opens relatively early (~8:30), so would be a good spot for breakfast, in case you are tired of McDonalds or Tims.
Super awesome Tianjin breakfast! And the price is good too!
I found the feeling of eating breakfast in China, which is what I like to eat
I ve never been to Tianjing, but it feels very authentic! !
Takeaway is quick
Dont order steamed buns, they are heated in the microwave and pre-made dishes are not steamed, they will cool very quickly.
Best Bao in Toronto
Authentic Northern Chinese food. Very tasty with good price.
Good price, small portion but its because the price is proportional too. $34 , dinner for 4! Delicious, fast service. Take out only. Frozen Bao and dumplings available
I bought fifteen more steamed buns today and ate them all in one day. Everything except fennel and sauerkraut is delicious. Especially worth recommending is the free chili oil, which is very delicious. Dumplings are average, wontons are good. The pancakes are average, but the tofu curd is good. The boss is very honest and conscientious.
The xiaolongbao was cold early in the morning, and the cashiers face was also cold. I missed the old front desk guy.
I have to give it a good review, just for the taste of my hometown.
The food is disappointing. The dumplings are really not as good as the quick-frozen dumplings in the supermarket. The skin is very thick and there is very little filling. The buns don t feel freshly made and not very fresh.
The taste is a bit worse than before
The steamed buns and tofu are very good.
My go-to breakfast restaurant, well done!
The green onion pancake is a must try. Food was delicious and price is right.
I was really deceived. I ordered Tianjin three delicacies, a big bag of pork and sauerkraut, and meat buns. They were all dryer than the other, as if they were leftovers from yesterday. Might as well go to Baozi Forest. Its a pity that I cant give half a star
Nice Place.
Cash only. Average food. No service.
The most authentic Tianjin food (breakfast) shop in Toronto is currently run by Tianjin people. The shop is small and shabby, but the taste is very good. After all, the environment of local breakfast shops in Tianjin is also very shabby. I really hope that Toronto can have more authentic Tianjin people open more breakfast shops, it s really needed! !
The pancakes, fruit and steamed buns were okay, the tofu buns were just so-so, and there was no water to drink.
tasty
Very tasty. Familiar taste
As a Tianjin native, I think it s normal.
Recommendation: Three delicacies Xiao Long Bao, Tofu Pudding Not recommended: pancake fruit
Authentic
nice stuff.
His food is so delicious! ! ! !
The taste is very good ~ I like theirs very much
Great food at a good price. Hidden gem
Disappointing. This place is at the end of my street, so Ive been thinking about going for awhile now. Unfortunately, the best I can describe the food is No Name quality. Fried dumplings had some taste, but the chewiness and dryness gave off an overly frozen factor. Barely any filling inside (<50%). Dry and tasteless meat. Shrimp dumpling had a single shrimp stuck beside the regular portion (if you wanna call it that) of pork. Theres a place closer to Brimley & Sheppard that is honestly waaaay better. Dont waste your time or money here.
Pancake Fruit, Tofu Pudding, Crispy Rice Dish Beef and onion buns
Who do you look down on? Whats going on with this scallion pancake? Who are you kidding?
Great restaurant, has a big discount right now
I have been coming to Toronto for 3 years and I finally found the breakfast that is most like Tianjin. It is so friendly and I will eat it often in the future.
I don t know how people are giving this place 5 stars. The tofu soup was decent, but meat buns and wrapped fried dough were so average, not even as good as T&T. And they made us wait almost half an hour for the food (forgot our order?). There s much better places around for Tianjin food
Fried egg pancake and crispy is a must try item!! It tastes so good and the price is affordable! Very authentic Chinese cuisine!
Order was really slow. Should order ahead.
Packaged takeaway. Very average, even a bit unpalatable. The steamed buns and tofu puffs at other nearby breakfast restaurants are better than this one. The pancakes were thin and tasteless, not recommended.
Been dining at this place for 8+ years. The food used to be decent. I think the owner might change hand once because the quality changed, but it was still bearable. Just visited there again today, the price hikes, which I could understand because they need to stay profitable during covid. But at least maintain the quality! Food was disappointing. I won t go back there ever again.
As a Tianjin person, the taste is very authentic.
Authentic and delicious, quick service
Very good, authentic Chinese food. Cash only but the prices were reasonable.
Buns arent juicy at all, waitress bad service and the environment is dirty
I have been in Toronto for a few months and this is my favorite breakfast shop. The store is small, but it has the feel of a domestic breakfast shop, and the boss is very nice. Especially the breakfast is amazing, it tastes almost the same as the one I had in Beijing~ Thumbs up!
Best dumplings in town.
The fried dough sticks and steamed buns are all good and not expensive. It s just that the space is relatively small, and sometimes there are more people. What should I do if I just stand? The place is small? ! Sometimes when they are almost finished eating, I look at them with embarrassment!
Delicious food!
better dumplings than other places I ever had.
It is my favorite tradition north China breakfast restaurant. It is take me back to my hometown Beijing. It is called tianjing but actually Tianjing is only 150km from Beijing. So We have pretty much same food. I always take my friends come to this place for breakfast and enjoy the hometown taste. My favorite food is douhua . In northern China, douhua is often eaten with soy sauce, thus resulting in a savory flavor. Northern Chinese often refer to douhua as doufunao ( ; dòufun o; tofu brains, often shortened to ; dòun o). Local Beijing people usually eat doufunao for breakfast together with eggs or youtiao (fried dough sticks). Doufunao can be found at breakfast stands along the streets in the morning. Other times it is hard to find outside of a restaurant. The second food I like is youtiao. Youtiao, also known as Chinese cruller,Chinese fried churros, Chinese oil stick,Chinese doughnut, is a long golden-brown deep-fried strip of dough commonly eaten in China and (by a variety of other names) in other East and Southeast Asian cuisines. Conventionally, youtiao are lightly salted and made so they can be torn lengthwise in two.Youtiao are normally eaten at breakfast as an accompaniment for rice congee, soy milk or regular milk blended with sugar.
This is one of my favorite steamed buns in Toronto. Compared with all domestic bun shops, it is not inferior.
The pancake fruit is very good!
Because its right next to my home, I go there often. Basically all the dishes are good, except for some that may not be ordered often and are a little bit off. For example, I ordered this pork belly twice, half and half cold, but the taste was not very good, and the others were good. Taste: Environment: Service: The male boss is good, but there is a waitress who has no expression every time and doesnt take the initiative to say hello. Price:
This may be the most authentic Tianjin or Beijing breakfast shop in Toronto. . The tofu puffs and pancakes are must-orders, and the haggis soup is also great. . The only drawback is that they don t accept cards, so it s a bit troublesome.
No parking. No card payment. The buns are also very salty.
If you want nice northern China dim sum, here is the place to go
Attitude is surprisingly bad
do not go. worst service ever.
Great dumplings
good dumplings
Nice food.
Rare to eat, tastes good
Great onion cake and soya milk
Pancakes, fruit, tofu puffs and crispy rice dishes are all good, and the mutton soup is good enough to satisfy cravings. It s worth a visit for Tianjin people.
As someone who has lived in Tianjin for nearly 20 years, I must say something. This is the most authentic pancake Ive found in Toronto. Pancake fruit, tofu puffs, etc. are still very nostalgic to me. If you are also a Tianjin native, I recommend you come here to miss the taste of your hometown. If you have never been to Tianjin, you can also go here to taste it. But not quote me on this. Although it is worth a try, it is far from the local flavor in Tianjin. If you try it, you won t forget that delicious taste. The only flaw in this restaurant may be that the store is too small to accommodate many diners eating at the same time, and I remember that there is no WiFi link here, and there are relatively few drinks. Apart from soy milk and some soft drinks, there is nothing else. . This is also a fly in the ointment.
tasty
Bad food, mediocre service.
Very good breakfast. Everything is fresh. Tofu brain tastes very good. The pancakes and fritters are both pretty good. The price is not very expensive either. Because it s really not much to lay early. Recommend everyone to try here. They serve traditional Chinese breakfast. It is hard to find this type of place in Toronto. I recommend tofu soup, steamed buns, and jianbing. Although, it is a small restaurant, but it is worth trying it.
Owned and operated my small traditional Tianjin family. Great food, great service. Highly recommend!
service is really bad, i told the owner to hire more people and he refused. Food is good for the money though
Food was good
Very delicious and authentic northern breakfast
Came for an early breakfast and the place may look pretty sketchy and small but food was pretty good. The guy was good at the service. Would definitely come back sometime.
Its great. Its suitable for northerners to eat. I dont know if it suits the taste of southerners.
Environmental sanitation needs to be improved
Tofu brain! Super delicious
Fantastic dumplings. Two thumbs up.
Its so delicious, every time I go there I have the illusion that Im in China.
