We are devoted to bringing the best authentic Cantonese food delicacies to Crown Jewel Fine Dining Restaurant and embarked on a journey to share our beloved Cantonese flavours with our friends in Canada.
Decent food, good portion and good value. It has some special dim sum that are not available at other dim sum restaurants. Worth to try and definitely will come back again
A good spot for dining as a family or group. Varied menu with vegetarian and dim sum options. Food quality was good, service was okay. It was not too busy. Also good for takeaway.
My fam dined here on a weekday evening after visiting Scarborough Grace Hospital nearby. The parking lot was quite empty and the resto was even emptier. We ordered a combo set and made a couple of dish substitutions. The fish belly and tofu stone pot was very good. The crispy chicken excellent. Bak choy w/ assorted shrooms was good as well. The sweet n' sour pork was just ok imo. Enough crispiness but meat to fat ratio was off in each piece. Also the pineapple presentation was pretty but I'd rather they leave that off the plate and give us more sns pork with the remaining dish real estate. Stir fried beef w/ gai lan in satay sauce was mid. The gai lan was cooked well. The beef was on the tougher side and the satay sauce they used wasn't actually satay. It was too oily and the amount of actual satay used was negligible. This dish is a strong pass. Our combo meal was originally supposed to come w/ char siu but we subbed it out for one of the above mentioned dishes. After seeing a plate of it arrive at another table I felt regretful that we did not order it. It looked good! There was a strange odor permeating throughout the resto when we dined there. I can't identify the exact smell but it resembled cleaning fluid.
Popular place for dimsum - great tasting and quick service. You might need to wait a bit to get seated though during peak times.
There are a lot of food selection, and the Pekking Duck was very good at this restaurant. The service did not leave me any impression.
Came here for dim sum and unfortunately the food was really lacking. The deep fried taro puffs used too much ammonia powder and it gave it a very strong acidic taste and burned the back of my throat and up my nose. The baked cha siu Bao was slightly undercooked near the centre so the dough was gooey. The other dim sums were ok. We told the staff about the issues and they cancelled those dishes. Credit given for their service to correct the issue.
Good dimsum - standard dishes are all solid but I would skip the soup dumplings (skin is too thick and they stick to each other in the basket and end up breaking). The BBQ pork buns are a unique offering compared to other dimsum spots in the city. Service is friendly and there are lots of regulars here. 20% discount if you order before 11am. If you come for dinner, I recommend the Maggi sauce lobster.
I have to say that what made my experience at this restaurant so memorable today was the customer service. NEVER in all the years of dining with my family in Toronto have I ever experienced such unforgettable service!! I have had such a bad experience at many of the Chinese restaurants we've been to that I often expect service to be mediocre if not semi at par. Through the years I've been conditioned to just accept that good food, good prices in Chinese restaurants normally come with passable service. This time was an entirely different feel. So different and so positive that I mentioned it on several occasions to my aunt who is born and raised in HK. She confidently said that since I was so impressed, she was sure our family would return in the near future. As for the food, I enjoyed it very much but felt their sucking pig dish to be far too fatty for my liking. I enjoyed how they stir fried our sugar peas and I honestly enjoyed the Peking duck best. I would say that the lobster also disappoint. Overall this has been a wonderful experience and I look forward to dining here again soon. This restaurant has renewed my faith the service in Chinese restaurants
No service. Poor menu. Most active in asking for tips
Good dim sum. Well priced!
It has the characteristics and flavor of my hometown (Hong Kong )
Good food with nice portions. The only concern was that the red dessert was cold instead of hot.
Too bad to eat
Tasty, noisy
Do not recommend. Servers were good, hence the 2 star. Manager with glasses was terrible. Left our billfold half hanging at the opposite corner of our table at the same time came toward us wanting to grab money. We were sitting at one side of the table, he put it at the other side. We were not able to reach it at all. Clearly he didnt know what he was doing because he was busy chatting loudly nonstop with table acrossed from us. Dim sum was meh, only siu mai was done right. Overall most not done right, tasteless, but at the same time lots of msg. Maybe use a bit of salt and soy sauce instead of over using msg please? Their dim sum is probably made in house because it cant be that bad coming from central kitchens. Its not even worth to waste my time on describing how bad they are one by one... Sad to see this once was best cantonese food location becomes so terrible now.
Not fresh, Shrimp rolls are over-fried, and the shrimp dumplings have a sour, foul smell! Not fresh, Shrimp rolls are over-fried, and the shrimp dumplings have a sour, foul smell!
So far so good
Over all are good, except one Mamagress so cool, slow response, or hearing issue, need others server to help.
Great service !
zThis restaurant is located in a Chinese community and shopping mall. It offers a 20% discount if you check out before 11am. It is quite crowded. If you make a reservation by phone, you basically dont have to wait for a table. The service is pretty good! This restaurant is located in a Chinese community and shopping mall. Excellent dishes. Attentive service. What more can you want.
Had a reservation for dim sum on a Saturday. People were coming in from the street and sitting down at tables without waiting for a number and the staff just served them. Watched our table taken 5 or 6 times this way. Left after an hour in frustration. Place is totally chaotic, rude customers. Avoid at all costs.
Best dim sum & dinner in Scarborough. It is my family goes to Chinese restaurant at least once a week.
i was mistaken by the name of the restaurant thinking it was the same as the one located at Victoria park and Mcnicoll. it was but a total look a like but the food quality, service and manager manners to patrons complaints show disregard. We will for sure not be returning to give them another chance for insults
Good food with good price. Fantastic!
Came here for dim sum, the BBQ duck with rice noodle in soup is very good and meet our expectations. But the pan fried lotus roots cake was like minced pork cake without any lotus roots. Also the deep fried spring roll with shrimp likes normal spring roll , without shrimp. Very disappointed. The waitress was very helpful.
Below average food with way too many flies eating with us
Vegetarian options: Theres a few sections of vegetarian food. They tasted good. Parking: Staff are friendly and service is great. Reasonable price.
Assistant manager asked for more tip. I ve never seen anyone so bold and asked for more gratuity. We didn t enjoy the food. The ladies were great but not the older guy. He was loud and obnoxious.
Food and services are good. Highly recommended.
Peking duck was very good. Food was overall good. I didnt pay for it but I hear its affordable for a whole table.
Waited 30 minutes for food and nothing came. Table beside us was a regular customer. Came 20 minutes after us and had a full table of food within 10 minutes. Horrible service. Would not reccomend.
Their roast duck, sweet sour pork, and vinaigrette pork all tasty.
Very good quality-price ratio.
When I called at 4 oclock in the afternoon, I had nothing to say. When I went to order at 6 oclock, I had nothing to say. I reluctantly ordered another food, but for more than 30 minutes, no food came. After complaining, the manager gave me a silly lie, saying that the kitchen printer could not print the order, but it was a pity that other Taiwanese lobsters were not the same. In fact, restaurants are more than just food quality and service. Integrity is so important.
If you like strong flavors, you will like it.
Its old school restaurant where most ppl are senior or retirement come here. Cant see any young fellow here. Has one dim sum (see attached photo ) that was sour which was bad even before putting in your mouth. It was obviously cancelled without any doubt by the manager. The positive note is morning dim sum order before 11am (Mon to Fri ) then you have 20% off
Good price, food is good.
Typical dim sum place but tasty. Service pretty good. Ordered hao gao, siu mai, seafood chow mein, deep fried tofu, shrimp paste on pepper, cheung fun (shrimp and beef), deep fried football, deep fried spring roll-like in tofu skin. Ate so fast. No pics this time.
This Hong Kong-style dim sum is because my friend said it was delicious, so I made an appointment with me. It only takes 40 minutes to drive from Toronto. As far as Hong Kong dim sum restaurants in Greater Toronto are concerned, this restaurant is really beautiful. My friend said it is so delicious. Of course, everyone The taste is different, but based on my own evaluation of food, I will not drive another 40 minutes to go to that restaurant!
The food is OK and acceptable in general. Price is reasonable.
A fantastic Chinese restaurant with ample room and dividers that make an open space feel ready for multiple parties. The food is what one would expect from a Chinese banquet style restaurant! Parking: This area has a massive parking lot for the multiple restaurants in the strip and the very large Asian food mart nearby
Have dimsum and dinner at this restaurant. Both food and service are reasonable for the prices. Will come again.
After making a reservation, we still had to wait for half an hour with our children in our arms. The manager refused to give us a larger table. The waiter who placed the order vaguely said that one order of Shrimp King would be free of charge. The manager also signed the order and still had to pay when paying the order. It wasn t that delicious this time either. Something like that ¯\_( )_/¯ Won t come again
Only ok. The tables are super tight together, were in each others conversations, pretty awkward. Dim sum choices are standard. Outstanding is the thousand layer cake. Tried their satay beef noodles so you dont have to - why do they put brunoised pineapples in it?? The rice noodles are also very choppy, not long strands. Theres a 10% can discount and they do not automatically add on service charge.
Waiters are helpful
Excellent dim sum at optimal price
Best canto food in town
First time visiting this restaurant for lunch Recomended by friends we went with. They gave us large table for the 6 of us. For lunch time, it was busy and noisy. We ordered a bunch of dim sum from the menu. The portions were good and it tasted like any typical dim sum. The staff was vey friendly and helpful with the menu.
Check your bill carefully (line by line). They have a cashier who deliberately miscalculated our bill.
Poor service. When we still eating. The manager said please hury . Some one will come half an hours later.
We were seated immediately, but waited about an hour for food.. we asked multiple times /reminded them of our order, while seeing many other tables receive their orders, of the same dishes we ordered. Very disappointed with the service. In total we spent 2.5 hours there because of the initial wait for the food, because they did not punch it in to their system and provide the receipt. The food was decent, har gaow and rice roll were good.
Yummy dim sum & fast service.
The service attitude of this restaurant is very poor. We originally booked dinner for 18 people on Sunday at 5.00pm, but 2 people canceled at the last minute. However, the minister with short hair was unhappy and unfr iendly. He said that we didn,t notify and they put the wrong table. The desserts didnt arrive and they asked us to pay the bill! We never go there again! Service is very important!
Food is ok, overshadowed by the terrible service. Most noticeably the hosts dressed in suits are very pushy, almost combative.
Restaurant opens at 9:00am and offer dim sum at 20% off before 11:00am.( Cash only ) Good quality dim sum and you can tell lots of repeat customers since people greet each others. A big supermarket right next door so you can shop grocery and enjoy dim sum at the same time.
The atmosphere is very good
Food was good. A typical Chinese , Cantonese restaurant.
Food is pretty good but the service is terrible. The managers and waiters ignore you. We came during CNY so If you re not prepared with with red envelopes, prepare to wait . And wait and wait. They pick who they want for the next table.
The dim sum is generally nothing particularly delicious and the service is average.
The dim sim was great. The service was slow. Atmosphere was fair as you could not talk to anyone far from you.
The food here is very good for dim sum... Tasty and good size. We went early at 10:15am and didnt wait long to be seated. If you order before 11:00am, theres a 20% discount. Parking was good at that time as the plaza parking wasnt full. Washroom was clean except the counter with two sinks was covered in water... Messy customers? Parking: Plaza parking
Good foods and excellent customer services. Highly recommend.
Okay Chinese restaurant, nothing special or bad about this restaurant. Food was either average at best or below average but probably because I have a higher standard for food
Came here for dimsum with my parents and I truly enjoyed it. One of the things they are known for is the bbq pork buns. If you go early in the morning the prices are cheaper. I enjoyed the dumplings and the corn congee. Definitely a hidden gem in Scarborough. The place is typical inside, nothing too fancy and the staff was helpful!
Typical Cantonese banquet restaurant. The food is quite good compared to other similar Canto places. It wasnt that busy when we went. A lot of empty tables. Maybe this type of restaurant mostly appeals to an older demographic? Anyways, the food was good but on the expensive side.
Not enough servers to help in the restaurant. Food is good and fresh. Recommended. Definitely will go again
Excellent dim sum. Service can be bettr.
Great food. However the plates are too big for dim sum. It would require a large group of people if you want to try multiple plates of dim sum.
The take out 4 dishes combo is pretty nice, the price is not too high compared to other restaurants and they are yummy!
I have had dinner and afternoon tea twice recently. The food and the price are both reasonable It is worth praising the service of several Qitai ladies. They will help and support again
Morning tea is 20% off before 11 oclock, the taste is good and the price is good.
Food is good but little pricey.
Prices for large, medium and small before 11 oclock, cash 20% off.
Always like their dim sum and dinner. This was my take-out dim sum during the pandemic. Usually need to wait for a table on weekends. The price is reasonable compare to the quality of food. Parking is usually not a problem in this plaza especially they are at the corner unit.
Decent Cantonese restaurant
The service was very good, the plates were changed four times during one dinner, and the food was all good.
BEST PLACE TO GO TO EVER. FOOD IS AMAZING AND STAFF ARE SO KIND.
I love this place. I recommend it and its literally the best and only restaurant you should be going too. The staff workers are really kind, and I got my seats pretty quick. Crown Jewel Fine Dining is the best restaurant!! Vegetarian options: Healthy and vegan options. You can choose any dish and your probably going to love it. Parking: big parking lot Kid-friendliness: They allow everyone in the restaurant no matter age or race. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessibility, they have those ramps that allow disabled people to get inside quick and easy.
! (delicious) very well-prepared food and very quick service! You can get a seat at 11am on Saturday with no problem!
Incredibly Average For The Price... Dont Expect Great Service Or Food.
Fairly OK
Good food with reasonable price
Food wasnt that great Congee taste so bad.. had a spoon and gave up
Old fashion
1. The food takes longer to serve (more than 20 minutes) 2. They missed one of my order (already waited 1 hour) 3. Waitress count every penny in front of me to ask for more tips. Food : 3/5
Quality of food , excellent of service
Can go everywhere.
Food and service is very good. Very spacious inside. I strongly recommend their lamb pot. Definitely will pay them a visit when I feel hungry in the area. Kid-friendliness: Of course.
Traditional dim sum experience, always delivering on consistent quality. I recommend getting the Har Gow (shrimp dumpling) and beef tendon in house sauce. The BBQ pork with rice offers great value, meat is tender and juicy with a good mix of fat to meat ratio. Chiu Chow dumplings peanuts are crunchy. Their egg tart is made with puff pastry. Their deep fried items look alright as they seem to be cooked with fresh oil.
Food was good and service was great. Really enjoyed having dimsum there.
Didnt disappoint, authentic Chinese food was tasty, service was good. Plenty of parking.
We ordered takeout for four people and waited for 25 minutes. Then the person at the counter said it was too busy and we had to wait another 25 minutes. I asked if I wanted more. In fact, I didnt place an order. I didnt want to buy it, so I said no. I asked someone to drive over and didnt have it. It was too much.
I have to say that Im pleasantly surprised by the above par food quality tonight at the Crown Jewel. Overall, all the dishes are yummy while the BBQ duck stands out from the rest. Even the complimentary desserts of red bean soup and Chinese pastry at the end round out the meal nicely.
Great service and food in the community!
Traditional noise Asian environment but with fairly good food.
Decent dining place for the value
One of the hottest dim sum places, especially before 11am where you can get 20% off on dim sum orders submitted before 11am. There can be a long wait, so make reservations if you plan to get this discount, though the crowds die down after. The food is good, especially the crown jewel pork bao s. Food
Reasonable price for dim sum. Services were fast and the servers were polite and courtesy. Distance between tables were a little bit cramped but acceptable.
Ordered a dinner set for 6. Food as decent. They asked for cash only, but charged tax. Why say cash only if you charge tax. Food
Best sweet and sour pork Ive ever tried. Served inside a hallowed out pineapple, with fresh cut pineapples. Rest of the dishes were also very good. Tried their morning breakfast Dim Sum and they were equally as good.
Great service there but need to make reservations ahead of time. Food was decent but the Jello not good for dessert. Everything else was okay. They gave 10% percent discount.
The Service is good. The food is good. Price is reasonable. There are lots of small flyers, which made us not comfortable.
OVERALL DIMSUM HERE IS QUITE GOOD, HOWEVER, EVENTHOUGH WE WERE THERE DURING PEAK HOURS, SOME OF THE FRIED DISHES CAME OUT COLD, AND/OR STALE. WE ORDERED PRETTY MUCH 1/3 OF THE MENU I THINK LOL MUST TRY THEIR CROWN JEWEL BBQ PORK BUNS!
Average food .price is ok
Dim sum is a good taste. Waitress are working hard to serve you.
Roast duck is delicious. Service is good.
Very cost effective, especially during morning tea time. The pumpkin, chestnut and polenta are delicious, and the snacks are also available, with plenty of portions. One amazing thing is that they have a Hong Kong tradition of using a basin of hot water to scald the tableware.
So many customers come here for dinner, its delicious and delicious food
My family and I have been coming here for a really long time. We have had dim sum to dinners here, and I have to say the food and staff are generally very good and friendly to us.
Good service, good dim sum,
Good Cantonese food with very attentive staff. The fruit flies were quite annoying.
All my colleagues enjoyed the food, but I think it was okay as I have some food restrictions. Overall, I feel certain dishes were a bit small for the price. The service was great! Since it was quite busy on a Sunday night, so it can get very noisy.
Friendly staff
The decline in food quality and service has left me reconsidering whether Ill return to Crown Jewel in the future. I hope they take this feedback to heart and work towards improving their offerings and customer experience.
Delicious dim sums and great customer service.
Reasonable price order before 11:00am 20% off on dim sum! Cash only, not bad! Food
Good food. Nice service. Decor just dated
Excellent dim sum. Everything was fresh and delicious. Terrific service. Highly recommended!
Place is bit old but decent food quality.
A very bad experience. If you want to be unhappy, you can come to this restaurant. The food is very average and you can only eat for an hour. Except for one of the waiters, all of them are arrogant as if they owe them money. The family went to this restaurant for breakfast in the morning. As soon as they came in and sat down to order something, they were told that they would be leaving in an hour. After eating in so many restaurants, this one was like this. The tea was out and no one came to refill it. I came here for a long time as if I owed her money. The most unbearable thing was because my daughter felt uncomfortable and vomited a little on the ground. Then she came over and scolded her fiercely, saying, Why did you vomit on the ground? If you dont wipe it up, why should I? That kind of look, the fact is that I used table paper to clean the table, and the people on the ground wanted to wait for them to come and ask him to get paper towels or cloth to clean it up, but they couldnt find them and wanted to wait, so they collected a My stomach was angry. I am also a waiter. I noticed it and brought me some tissues. I cleaned it up and helped me clean it up. When she came over, there was nothing but she said why did you vomit on the floor? Please clean it up quickly. Why don t you? Damn it, I looked at people sideways, it was a very unpleasant experience. With this kind of service attitude, the waiter had the nerve to ask for a tip. If you want to cause trouble for yourself, you can come to this store.
Another HK dim sum place, offering cash discounts if you come early before 11am. A lot of Chinese senior customers , interior decorating is aged, plenty seatings though. Foods quality here is above average.
Food was very good, very tasty, dishes came out hot.
Very authentic and good quality dishes..
Good service & good food.
I thoroughly enjoyed the exquisite flavors at Crown Jewel Fine Dining Chinese Cuisine. The foods impeccable quality left a lasting impression, offering a delightful culinary experience. However, its worth noting that the washrooms could use some attention as they were notably smelly and not as clean as one might expect. Despite this, the exceptional food certainly makes it a noteworthy dining destination.
