Amazing frozen dumplings here. The lady is so nice
The best jianbing, buns, and tofu soup I’ve had in Canada. Tastes very close to authentic northern Chinese breakfast. Buns were freshly made and steamed - it’s so delicious and totally worth the wait!
I had the 猪肉包子 (Pork Meat Bun)牛肉大饼 (Braised Beef Wrap)and 凉皮 (cold wheat noodles). The cold what noodles black vinegar with garlic and the slightest hot oil is probably the best I've had in a very very long time. The Meat Buns are so good as they honestly taste so homemade. They don't taste as savoury as the buns you get from places that mass produce them and they're not suppose too. The bun isn't perfectly fluffy and even has a slight chewiness. However, this is exactly how Tianjin meat buns are. So nostalgic of my time in Northern China 😭. Price is very reasonable as they don't skimp on meat. Ironically, the cold noodles (Carb) was what I was missing the most. The only thing that was meh was the braised beef wrap. It's a bit too salty for me. However, I know everyone has their family recipe and I'm use to it being slightly sweeter. However, they do it a bit differently by adding romaine lettuce which adds another layer of crunch and freshness. 4.5/5
I'm always on the look out for Northern Chinese cuisine coz my mom grew up in Northern China. I brought her to 源源 today and she's really excited to see all the familiar dishes on the menu. We ordered 熏肉烧饼,肉夹馍,炸糕,熏鸡架,豆腐脑,凉皮。炸糕 and 熏鸡架 are my mom's favorite. The portion is good and the taste is authentic (at least my mom approved). This food court has only a few restaurants and might look a bit run down. But the seating area is spacious, bright and airy. We feel safe dining in or waiting for takeout here.
They have one of the best cold noodle dish I have ever had !! Really declious onion pancake (different from what we normally get from other places). Only complain is that I don’t feel they are very clean. The lady at the front and another lady at the back kept coughing (no mask on) while making food :(
As we know, the most famous Chinese steamed stuffed buns is “Tanjin Goubuli”. Goubuli is the most delicious buns I have ever eaten in my life. I ate Goubuli in autumn at 2014. It is impossible to taste a traditional Chinese food out of it’s original region, While you could try some things similar in Toronto. The flavor maybe not as good as the best one-Goubuli , but it can easy away your homesick sentiment. Closing to the northern flavor of China. Come on, try to taste the steamed stuffed buns in the restaurant. In my opinion it’s better than other Tianjin flavor buns. I order the pure pork buns every time. For another important thing, the price is acceptable too.
Wonderful family-run business (Northern China - Tianjin food) hidden in a little plaza. Very friendly servers. They speak Mandarin and English. Saw someone order clams, they looked pretty great. Hot and sour soup was 👌
I ordered the Ge Da (geda) soup, spicy chicken and jellyfish with corriander, and egg-and-chive pie. I’ve included photos. The soup’s broth was delicious; the soup included little dumplings (like German Spaetzle), dried shrimp and cabbage. The chicken dish was one of the best things I’ve eaten this year. The seemingly “shredded” chicken was perfect, and I love corriander. The jellyfish fulfilled its role of providing a subtle, contrasting texture to the generous amount of corriander. The sauce was your typical Northern Chinese chili oil sauce but not too spicy. The egg-and-chive pie’s texture was on-point—crispy, piping hot and delicious, with a generous amount of chives. Service was speedy. Hey, despite it being clean and all, don’t come here for the ambience. But the food is good. I’ll be back. —- Ok, it’s now a month later and I’ve been back during their slow time, just after the lunch rush. I was the only one in the restaurant and I witnessed them doing an intensive cleaning of the entire place. It looked like a routine thing they were doing, so rest assured hygiene and cleanliness are looked after despite the dated décor. Now, for the food. Northern Chinese food was an acquired taste for me. It’s very different. I love spicy food and the fish in spicy soup did not disappoint. I’ve had this elsewhere and this is the best version of it I’ve ever had! Fragrant, spicy and generous. I also had the Napa cabbage with dried shrimp sauce. The dried shrimp paired surprisingly well with the cabbage, and it was a perfect, non-spicy counterpoint to the spiciness of the soup.
Canada s tax exemption will begin on December 14, 2024. This store will still collect taxes, and they will still accept cash. Everyone avoid lightning
Today is the beginning of the tax-free month, but they still charge taxes. This kind of service is really fraudulent, and you really need to report it to the tax bureau.
The buns are freshly made and you have to wait 20 minutes. It tastes good. You can try other things. The price is fair and affordable.
Been a returning customer for decades now. By far one of the most authentic Tianjin food you can get in North America.
Delicious and affordable
I used to eat pancakes and steamed buns at their place all the time. I used to call to order and then pick them up. After ordering this time, I was waiting there for the meal, only to find that they took the money and grabbed the various dish codes with my hands. , didn t wash hands, didn t wear gloves, it feels so disgusting, I will never buy from him again.
The price is cheap and the buns are delicious
Healed my homesick
Definitely the best Northern Chinese breakfast in the GTA! Savoury crepe, you tiao, and beef roll is all so so delicious and fresh. The only downside is that service has gone down over the years. Theyve hired a new lady who is really rude - I asked her if she had hot sauce and she yelled back, Whats hot sauce?! I dont know what you mean! then looked to other customers exasperated. I then tried clarifying in English then asked if she had chili oil. She said, I dont understand, are you ordering any food?! even though my family had just ordered food from her. Still worth a try because the food is so good but a shame that service has only dipped.
Why don t you cook stir-fries? I really want to eat the Bazhen tofu and lotus root clips from before
always good dumplings
I love the food there. But the waiting time can be really long - I had to wait for almost 40 mins to get the buns ready.
Yuan Yuan has moved again. They are no longer doing stir fried dishes- just their dim sum and quick street eats. You can now find them inside the food court of the plaza on the northwest corner of Sheppard and Glen Watford
Very delicious! VERYYYY GOOD!!
The clear tofu soup is watery and has no condiments. Pancake fruit is really unpalatable... Restaurants are only open for takeout after the lockdown is lifted
The hand that had just finished grabbing the money was grabbing fried dough sticks and pancakes. Even rural women understand the truth, but she doesnt understand it, or she doesnt realize it at all. Are you really speechless, and do you even want her to wash her hands after going to the toilet?
Frequent here for no-nonsense, authentic home cooking. Havent found a better dumpling/bao/northern chinese breakfast place yet. Fair prices. The shuijianbao (essentially a bao cooked like a gyoza) is pretty good!
Real-name five-star praise! I drove all the way from Ottawa to pack cold noodles, Tianjin fried cakes and tofu nao, and also ate pancakes and fruit and Chinese toon scrambled eggs. They are all very delicious! The boss is very nice! You can t go wrong with her food! Highly recommended, I will definitely come back next time I come to Toronto!
The steamed buns are not bad and suitable for northerners taste. Especially the bean buns
Try once and you will not forget! Try twice and you will go again! Pay food court prices for restaurant tastes! Must-order fried pork and pot stickers! Made to order, fresh and delicious!
The restaurant was closed and the time was not changed. It was a waste of time.
It s delicious and reasonably priced. I recommend the sesame sesame pancakes, fried cakes and pancakes. The previous picture reminds everyone that they are now on break until early May and don t run out of money.
Pancakes are crispy + egg yyds! 6 yuan, so full
Unsanitary and poor quality, avoid this place at all costs
Xinjin Gate No. 1
great food for many years
Unstable taste
Very delicious
Delectable northern Chinese steamed buns, dumplings, wraps and simple snacks served out of a Scarborough food court stall. Ordered the large 6 chive dumpling, sesame paste Chinese turnover and steamed vegetable and pork buns for $18. The order was freshly made, so it took over 20 mins, but I think the wait was worth. Food was tasty, service was average due to longer weekend wait time. Food court atmosphere was alright. Vegetarian options: They serve vegetarian buns and dumplings. There are also no meat snacks on the menu. Parking: Plenty of parking free spaces within the plaza Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrances and parking spots.
Regular customers started eating from the food street in Richmond Hil. Although we have moved far away now, our family will buy it when we go there. Today, because the smoked chicken rack is very bitter (oversmoked), I called them and gave them a very bad attitude. I really don t have to make up a chicken rack! I wont go that far and ask you to pay for a chicken rack. I just want to talk nicely, wont I? !
Great food Opens too late for a breakfast kinda of food tho. Vegetarian options: Vegan food available
Slow, very slow. The people in front waited longer than me.
I was very sad to see it closed before. I changed my address once with this restaurant. I was so happy to see it was open again, so I immediately ran to buy some pancakes and fruits to eat! ! Yuanyuan is open again, so happy! It feels like life affected by the new coronavirus is slowly recovering!
Best of the best
Every so often when I crave for northern Chinese home-cooked meal I come here. Ive been going there for more than 14 years. I love their tofu pudding soup and green onion egg Crepe W/ Fried Dough, it tastes very authentic and the price is very reasonable. They are family-owned and everyone there is very nice and genuine.
Im so happy that Yuanyuan has reopened. The new store is in the food court of Dynasty Center. Its a pity that there are no stir-fried dishes and you cant eat Bazhen Tofu, but the crispy tofu pancakes are still as delicious as ever!
The fresh pancakes are so delicious! The whole car smells good I want to try the crispy ones next time!
tasty
This restaurant is no longer an independent restaurant, but a small store in the food court. The conditions at the food court were average, which compromised the dining experience. But I know we can t blame them, we can only blame the epidemic.
Super authentic and delicious! The price is affordable and the food feels like home.
Really great food!!!!! I am so happy to find this traditional tianjin restaurant highly recommend!
Nice authentic Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei style food, especially the tofu curd and pancake fruit !
Good food and good price
Initially, it was hard to find this spot, its not at where the map shows. I gave them call, luckily, someone picked uo the call and they are located inside the food court. I ordered the crepe (Jian Bing Bo Cui), and soft tofu soup(Doufu Nao), and the pork baozi. The crepe is yummy, the soup is a little bit salty, the baozi is great comes with soup inside.
Tofu curd, roast chicken, pancakes, steamed buns, rice dumplings, and fried dough sticks are all delicious! ! ! Still cheap! !
I almost tried all the menus on the wall, and there was not a single one that was too bad. It was so delicious and so cheap.
Liangpi is super delicious The amount of pancake fruit is too big, delicious and cheap
Good luck keeping the store open!
The pancakes and fruits are really delicious, and the tofu curd is also my favorite northern flavor. They are basically delicious big bowls, but the kelp shreds are not flattering, like a puddle of mud. The steamed buns and pancakes are so delicious that one person cant even finish one portion, so they have to be packed away in the end.
That aunt holds the fried dough sticks directly with her hands, cant she use a tong? I just received cash and didn t wash my hands or wear gloves! .... Yuanyuan is becoming more and more careless, even in front of me, but I don t know what s going on behind the scenes? ! There was almost no one there on Saturday afternoon, and business was not what it used to be. Its all for a reason.
Good, like always
Excellent green bean pancake. Smooth batter and crispy dough. Tastes like when I use to get it in Beijing. Cold noodle skin salad was so nicely seasoned. Both items were reasonably priced. Should definitely return to try more of the menu.
The bacon tastes just right, it s this kind of carb explosion feeling
This pancake pancake is so delicious! Very, very authentic, one tube full. The tofu pudding is very hit n miss.
So delicious! Authentic pancakes , tofu puffs. Highly recommend the fried buns!
To no avail...the buns are freshly made and the meat filling is good, but the skin is too chewy and not very soft. The braised rice dumplings are too salty...
Taste of hometown
One of my favourite breakfast spot. Offers great selections of tasty foods at very reasonable prices.
First time at Yuan Yuan, absolutely delicious. Order my favourite Chinese dish, General Tao. Legitimately the best General Tao Ive ever had. Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!
OK Chinese food
The mixed jellyfish is delicious! ! It tastes super homely! It just has a very domestic flavor! Absolutely amazing! ! Crispy rice and mixed jellyfish are delicious! !
Me and and buddy drove from Montreal to have this best pork bun and chinese pancakes. We ordered like 7dishes and its only 55dollars. Everything is perfect now we are enjoying the food in the car! Love it OMG I WISH WE LIVE HERE!!
My girlfriend wanted to eat at Yuanyuan Restaurant today, but she regretted it after ordering it. After being under lockdown for so long, I have been ordering takeaways a lot. I have done some odd jobs in restaurants before, so I know a little bit about restaurants. But this store really changed my perspective. Now that we can only do takeout, your minimum takeout box should be a little more complete. Whether it is dry or watery, it is the cheapest foam lunch box, and everything will be spilled when you take it home. You can say that we didnt take them properly on the way back, but look at which restaurant outside doesnt use a few plastic lunch boxes. They can be fastened tightly without spilling. How about you dry up the cold dish a little bit and order it like a bowl of soup, with part of the foam lunch box in the tofu? Really want some food?
Must-try steamed buns and smoked sauce
Cheap and affordable, but the quality of the dishes is inconsistent.
I have been searching around Toronto for some delicious Chinese crepes (Jian bing guo zi). I am happy to say that YuanYuan s Chinese crepe does not disappoint! The crepe is delicious and authentic. The red and black sauce in the crepe tasted just like my childhood. The restaurant only has the traditional kind (fried dough or fried cracker). Really really wish the restaurant had more options to add pickled veggie, meat flood, or seaweed. We also ordered a hot and sour soup (packed with ingredients) and 8 juicy baos. The baos were extremely fresh, steaming hot, juicy, and delicious. We ate the entire order very quickly. Prices were fantastic!! The cheapest Chinese crepe I have ever ordered (3.99) - it s typically $8 in downtown Toronto. Prices for all dishes were very reasonable and affordable. Highly recommend!!
Takeaways are often tasteless lately
Small place, but have good foods, reasonable price,, just some time have to wait a little longer time, good to try it
Based on the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. Mediocre food and rude service. The texture of the crepes was good and has potential, but pretty bland otherwise.
Blow up the source!
Down to earth restaurant, alway the best place to go
Go to place for authentic northern Chinese food. Reasonable prices and generous portions. Highly recommend!
economy. Food is ok.
This is a cheap and good Chinese restaurant. A variety of meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available all day long. There are rice porridge, steamed buns, pancakes, soup noodles, fried noodles, and a wide variety of Chinese stir-fry dishes. Here you are sure to find your favorite Chinese cooking style food. And there is no tipping here, which is an extra surprise. Its just a pity that you cant pay with credit card. This is a cheap and good Chinese restaurant. Provide all kinds of food suitable for breakfast, lunch and dinner all day. There are porridge, steamed buns, pancakes, soup noodles, fried noodles, as well as a variety of rich Chinese fry. You will find your favorite Chinese cooking food here. And its an extra surprise that theres no tip here. I just cant pay by credit card. Its a bit regrettable.
Cheap and delicious
We enjoyed our meals. Nice service.
This place is amazing! We ordered takeout for an office lunch and the meat buns were all we could talk about when they weren t being stuffed in our faces. The prices are the best in the city if you want to stock up on authentic Northern Chinese food! We ll be back for more soon!
Specially authentic Tianjin taste, super cheap price
Various kinds of pasta are of good quality and low price. It s a restaurant that you have to go to every once in a while. But are there no chefs working during the epidemic? For the first time in my life, I ate shredded pork with Beijing sauce without any sauce; hot and sour soup with lots of vermicelli; and fishy and old liver noodles.
The buns are delicious The taste of China!
Eating endless amounts of pancakes, fruits and tofu is one of the motivations to support me in fighting the epidemic. There are 4 or 5 groups of people waiting in line in the restaurant. There are two sets of puzzles on the table . The landlady was very busy. I packed my bag and ran home to greet everyone upstairs and downstairs to come and eat. Unfortunately, the fruit was weak and the pancakes were tasteless, but the tofu noodles were better than me.
Egg yolk chicken rolls, meat buns, leek boxes, pancakes and fruit, cold skin, fried pancakes, Zuo Zong chicken, braised pork ribs, braised noodles, shredded potatoes, tofu brains, crispy rice noodles Fried Noodles Gaba Choi
It would be better if the pancakes were bigger, hahaha
The buns are very good!
Cheap, large quantity, and tastes good
Delicious, really good, good quality and cheap, the tofu curd and pancake fruit are really delicious
The shredded pork in Beijing sauce is not authentic. I have never seen the shredded pork in Beijing sauce with a very thin soup. It should be a dish that absorbs the juice. Ive done nothing better than this. I lost it after one bite. Fried pork buns, the skin is really thick. The pot sticker skin is also thick but okay, the pot sticker skin would be delicious if it were thinner. The pancake fruit is really ordinary, spicy pancake. I was tricked into eating it by the so-called check-in delicacies on the Internet. The price may not be expensive, but it looks like this.
This place offers Northern Chinese Tianjin style comfort food that everybody loves, including Chinese savory crepe and steam buns of all flavors. They are probably not the most delicious in town but are the best for the moneys worth.
I bought it yesterday. It s my first time to try it. It tastes good, and the lady at the front desk is very considerate and has a very good attitude.
Screct place to go. Really great traditional Chinese food!
It can be considered to be of high quality and low price. The pancakes and fruits taste very good. The other dishes are also standard northern style.
The pancakes and fruit are considered the most authentic and delicious in Toronto, the tofu curd is also good, and the fried cakes, roasted chicken, steamed buns and pies are also available. The crispy rice dish is average. All in all, I highly recommend it, and the price is very cheap and affordable.
Traditional food, delicious dumplings
one of my fav go to restaurants. I drive all the way from mississauga just to order their dishes. recommend items under their snack menu.
Cheap, big portion, and tasty, regular customer for 7 years now
Best North China style food. Best Chinese leaven flour food like baozi, fried cake etc. Price is also quite reasonable. Steamed buns, pancakes, and sesame pancakes are all classic and affordable.
Hometown dishes, good prices and plentiful portions.
I would ve given No Star if possible!! Just went there with a friend of mine, we both had high expectations because we went to the old location very frequently whenever we are in Scarborough. This time all the food tasted totally different; doesn t taste very authentically like Northern Chinese cuisine at all. The best part is, we ordered a kidney and liver dish, and would like to add some spiciness to it, the server said it s an extra $0.75, ok that s fine. But when the dish came, it s just some chilli sauce drizzled on it, no garlic, no dried chilli peppers, not authentic at all!!! The worst part is, the kidney were not prepared and cooked properly. We can smell a strong urine smell before putting it into our mouths. We asked if they can take it back, the owner said no, that s the way it is, the kidney supposed to smell like that!! Wow, ok, so we ended up paying for a urine smell dish that we didn t touch at all!! We ll never go back to that restaurant ever again!!
Surprised by how good the food was; my wife and I stopped by after running an errand and tried the frog legs and szechuan beef, and we were pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the food was. The ambiance was lacking, but the meal more than made up for it!
Great price that you can eat a lot without paying much. Very traditional Tianjin food.
Good food at very reasonable prices. I wont recommend their corn congee though.
One of my favourites for Chinese north style brunch!
Yuanyuan Restaurant is home-cooked food in the north. The taste is authentic, the price is reasonable, delicious and not expensive. It is a restaurant for the common people serving the taste of the common people. Here you can eat snacks such as pancakes, tofu puffs, sausages, fried dough sticks, millet porridge, hot and sour noodles, etc., which are very satisfying to satisfy your cravings. Pot-wrapped pork, fried tripe, fried meat with green onions, and stewed fish in pastry are famous dishes that many people love to eat. There are also authentic fried pancakes, which made me feel like I was back in Beijing and Tianjin. People who have just come from China may not think much of this restaurant, but if you have lived here for 7-8 years, you will still feel like you are home after eating this kind of food. If you are from the north, I recommend you try it.
good
The fried dough sticks, tofu puffs and dumplings here are worth trying
Excellent food good service
Good quality and cheap, the potato shreds are good
The tofu is average, the pancakes and fruit are good, and the cold skin is also good. I also ordered roasted chicken, shredded pork with green pepper and stir-fried mutton with green onions; the roast chicken was okay, but the stir-fried lamb with green onions was not recommended.
The fat sausage is delicious!
This place has great food and all for an even better price. I come here alot whenever Im craving Chinese food. The only flaw is that it isnt located closer to my home
You must order the pancakes and xiaolongbao, especially suitable for breakfast.
Northern pasta is pretty good, and stir-fry dishes are more average.
Food quite oily. Parking easy. Price reasonable. Air conditioning not enough.
The pancakes and fruit are good, the tofu curd is good, the pot pork is good, and the cold skin is just average.
Feel at home in Tianjin
Good foods
Really good Northern Chinese cuisine
The waiter has a bad attitude.
Really authentic Tianjin food! Not the best decor wise, but food is awesome. Not pricy, and there usually isnt too much of a wait.
Not authentic. The worst jianbjngguozi I had in Toronto.
Great find by someone dear. Featuring authentic Tianjin food fresh from the authentic and street food roots. Incredible value for impeccable quality of food. A meal for two will usually run you less than $15 unless youre really looking to break the bank. The egg pancake, buns, and tofu soup are our main go tos. Service isnt their strength, though its never been an issue, but the quality and price more than make up for those.
Jianbing bocui is the best
Good service . The waitess always very nice. I love the foor there !
Good food, fast service at a reasonable price.
High quality bbq
Tofu Nao Zan
Amazing food, very decent price
Authentic and delicious food at amazing prices. We tend to come halfway across town sometimes just for the food.
The pancakes are thin and crispy, and the Tianjin steamed buns are a must-have!
Delicious and inexpensive
They moved! They used to be at shappard and Midlands. One of my favorite northern Chinese food place, so glad I found them again!!
Good food
Food was ok, good representation of Tianjin cuisine
Delicious food, and great prices. Highly recommended.
Simple Northern Chinese food but great taste - feels right at home!
Very good.
