Good Taste Casserole Rice offers delicious Chinese food in Scarborough and Unionville. Come try our tasty and traditional clay pot rice and rice roll dishes! Available through in-store and online ordering.
This is a family run restaurant that consists of the husband/wife/ grandma and daughter. I came last night for dinner with my parents and we ordered the original casserole with preserved meat, one with sticky rice and the other with normal rice and also a chicken casserole. All meals come with soup and veggies on the side which are not salted. You have to salt those yourself. The food and portion were good. The crispyness at the bottom of the casserole which is the most important came out really crispy! I will definitely come back however service can be better.
We went to Good Taste Casserole Rice on a Saturday, we were seven and we all ordered a rice casserole. They took longer to be served than most dishes in general. They came with a soup and a side of vegetables. I like that we get to add our own salt and soy sauce ourselves. We all loved the crispy rice stuck on the casseroles, as shown on one of the pictures. We don’t get to eat that with our instant rice cookers anymore, unlike when my parents used to cook our rice in a pot on the stove. Overall fresh, good and reasonably priced Chinese comfort food.
Went here because of a recommendation from a friend of a friend. Ordered three different rices to try. Also the braised beef rice rolls and dried shrimp rice rolls. The beef rice rolls were not all that tasty to our surprise. The shrimp rice rolls were way too salty! The rice casserole came and you have to add your own soy sauce. We had the salty egg meat and it was ok. Always love the crunch rice at the bottom. We also had the eel one with the dried meat. Was ok. Nothing wow. The most disappointing part was the soup you get with the casserole. It was like water. I think people like this place because they leave it up to you to add the soy sauce. I think this is a mistake. The chef should add it. Most people don’t know how much to add. We ordered a special soup also and it came and the they said we have to add the salt. Soup was meh. If you want rice casserole this isn’t the best.
Good food for good prices! We got the Four Treasures Rice, the Assorted Preserved Meat & Chicken Feet on Rice, and the House Special Roll. Decent dishes with good prices - the portions were big for their price! The bok choy was basic and alongside the soup which was just bland. The meat in each rice dish was marinated well and tasty, however overall it’s quite bland without additional soy sauce. It’s great however with soy sauce! Same goes the House Special Roll, which was definitely good and unique, not my taste or textures though (it’s soft and crunchy). The soy sauce is a must when eating (otherwise it’d be bland)! The service was okay, and at times slow. The atmosphere was uncomfortably quiet. Overall, I’d come here again for the prices & portions. Good place to hit if you’re not trying to spend much and don’t like too intense flavours.
There were a lot of clay pot rice options but ended up settling for the four treasures pot for 13.99. It had a bit of everything (duck, BBQ pork, eel, preserved meat) and it comes with a dish of veggie and soup. The soup was pretty bland but the clay pot rice was pretty good. It had the hardened rice on side of the pot which was easy to scoop out and the portion size was good for one person. Would come back again to try the other pots.
We visited this place as it appears to be bigger and brighter than the Kennedy/HWY7 branch, however I prefer the other location as the rice is tastier and service is better. The clay rice here was mushy. I ordered 2 pots and both the same.
Claypot rice. With the many varieties of toppings, I chose the classic preserved meats and eel. The eel was tender and delicious. Good size portions. Comes with an apple soup that's somewhat flavorless and some Chinese greens. Since they are made to order, it does take about 15 minutes for your order to come.
I visited Good Taste Casserole Rice with my family for a quick lunch, and we had an overall good time. The food may be too ethnic for the general public, but it provides great value and a unique dining experience. From the outside, the restaurant has clear glass walls and a red signage with large Chinese characters. Inside, it is quite spacious with heavily padded seats that make for a comfortable experience. The menu has consistent pricing with good descriptions in English and photos to help decide what to order. All of their rice casseroles come with the soup of the day and a plate of vegetables. The warm and mild soup was a nice start, and the vegetables made the meal feel complete. Note that the rice casseroles take over 15 minutes to be served as they are cooked to order, but the semi-burned rice at the bottom of the casserole adds a delightful crunch that makes the waiting worthwhile. Here are dishes we tried: #53 Special Rice Noodle Roll: This dish was a winner. The large rice noodle rolls were filled with crunchy toppings like peanuts, yam, and carrots. The seasoned soy sauce drizzled over the top added a wonderful flavour. #1 Preserved Meat & BBQ Eel with Rice: Their signature dish. This medium-sized bowl of rice came with fragrant, well-seasoned toppings like slices of sausages and meat, which paired perfectly with the rice. #3 Assorted Preserved Pork Rib, Sausage, Fish & Duck with Rice: My casserole included salted fish, duck meat, and pork rib pieces. The distinct flavour of the fish really whetted my appetite. The restaurant was quiet during our visit, and although the servers were busy, it was not hard to get their attention. Their English was functional, just enough to get by. The gender-free washroom was spacious and clean, though the door was a bit tricky to figure out. Despite the rice casseroles leaning heavily on the rice with sparse meat, the overall value is very good, with spot-on seasoning. If you don't enjoy rice or are unfamiliar with the raw smell of meat, you might want to look elsewhere. However, their signature rice casserole is unique and worth trying. I also recommend their changfen (rice noodle rolls) for those unsure about the casseroles. Overall, I had a great time and would not mind coming back to try their other dishes next time I'm in the area.
Good value for dishes. Nice soup come with the rice. The rice was decent with enough ingredients to fill you for dinner. The rice rolls are delicious also. Nice neighborhood business
Rude employer
The claypot rice is decent and the service attitude is good. It s worth coming back next time.
Worst customer service. Called in to place a takeout order. The lady said 20mins. I got there in 30mins, the place was like half empty. The lady at the cashier took my money, then walked to the back kitchen. She came back and said, oh they forgot to make your order. She looked at me like its so normal, and I should just wait. I asked for my money back and left. Never going back
Solid portion size and acceptable price, comes with soup, some Bok Choy and a decent sized bowl. Also comes with a good amount of meat.
It was my favourite restaurant. I even saved their phone number to order food. Until today see what I found in my food
There is no octopus in the octopus chicken rice, just a few pieces of chicken. I asked the clerk and the clerk explained that it had shrunk and evaporated.
No line up when we got there. Staffs are friendly and we ordered different type of rice to try them out. Each rice comes with vegetable and a bowl of soup. The soup is very water down and no taste at all. Rice is ok but I find it a little too hard and lastly the vegetable is way over cooked. Overall, I would give a 2 stars as I have had better else where.
Quick eat but nature of how it s cooked takes time, a great idea is to call ahead and have them start what you want Hard to find cost effective eats like this in this day and age!
I decided to get take out HK style clay pot rice for dinner. They have so many choices here and you can even DIY and select your own toppings. We got the Preserved Meat with Rice and the Octopus & Minced Pork on Rice. I preferred the latter. Food was a bit on the oily side but so nostalgic and brings back memories when I eat this dish. The best part is that the food was still hot when I got home and there was even the crispy burnt rice at the bottom of the take out container which was a nice surprise.
I was very disappointed recently. The last time I bought three claypot rice, I bought two extra soy sauces. It turned out that two of the soy sauces were bad and the rice tasted unpalatable after being poured out. I also threw away the rice because I I didn t complain because I live quite far away. I just asked her to give me new soy sauce next time. I also reported that the soy sauce was broken last time. Yesterday I bought three claypot rice. Buy three soy sauce and let me know. One of them was packaged separately, and that one belonged to my friend. When I got home, I found that my two rice dishes had five soy sauces. Then my friend told me that she didn t have any soy sauce. How can I eat claypot rice without soy sauce? The woman who called the store said she would refund me 0.25 for soy sauce next time. I paused for a long time before saying, How can I eat without soy sauce? And I bought extra soy sauce. Then she actually said, Then what do you want? You didnt say the soy sauce should be separated. With such an attitude, I immediately hung up the phone. I was speechless when she said this. I already asked that the soy sauce be packaged separately, so it should be put there, right? Then why did your soda chopsticks fall apart? Isnt this common sense? Hang up the phone on her immediately.
Big portions, love how crispy the edges are. Dietary restrictions: No nuts Parking: Lots of parking
Although soup is free but taste like water
Delicious rice! Milk tea taste bad.
Big selection of casserole rice. The ingredients are very tasty. Only thing is the soup is too bland.
It s been almost half a year since I moved to Scarborough and I ve ordered meals from many nearby restaurants. Either the food is not delicious, the rice is rough and hard to swallow, or the price is expensive and the portions of meat and dishes are very small. It can be said that I have not ordered them before. Ive been to a takeaway that I was satisfied with. Today, I ordered an octopus chicken rice from this store for the first time through uber eats. It was so surprising. The rice was smooth, delicate and caramelized. I felt that the store bought good rice. The octopus-flavored chicken tasted good and the portion was very generous. , and also sent a box of fresh vegetables separately. Oh my god, there are too many vegetables. When I cooked by myself, I didn t cook so many vegetables. Except for the soup that was sent, it was not that thick. Everything else was too much. Well, I can feel that the store owner is a generous and dedicated business person. I have a good impression of this store and give it a 5-star rating! I hope the soup can be made better! Will try other flavors tomorrow.
Great casserole rice done just right! Tastes great!
We both got the three treasures casserole dish!! It came out fresh piping hot and with a soup! The soup was pretty bland and the casserole had a way higher ratio of rice than meat. Overall, not the best place or my to go for stone pot casserole
the best Chinese food I have tasted in Toronto.
Very nice place to sit down and enjoy a meal. Love the food and well cook. Forsure coming back here again.
Homestyle chinese food, super friendly staff, super clean.
Pretty good plaza, when it gets busy though the parking lot is a nightmare
After finishing shopping at the supermarket, I came across this restaurant and decided to give it a try. It wasnt mealtime, so there was seating available. The hostess was welcoming and efficient. When I opened the menu, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the clay pot rice was priced between 12-17 $. In this era of soaring prices, it was truly a bargain. I ordered the Four Treasures Rice and after a ten-minute wait, a steaming hot clay pot rice arrived, generously portioned with plenty of meat. It also came with a complimentary soup and a side of vegetables. The flavor took me back to the taste of the old streets of Guangzhou. It was absolutely fantastic.
Vegetarian options: Food
Food is tasty. Decent price.
Very hot, fresh and yummy! Vegetarian options: Mixed veggies and rice in claypot Food : 5/5 |
Dont waste your money to get their soup, it tastes just like water regardless the combo one or paid. Questioning to the server but in the end, she asked us to add salt coz thats the way it is... She questioning back to us where no other customers have made the same comments as I do... Excuse me, are you kidding me?? She sounded like ive never had soup before. What a joke!! She even declared the paid one has made for 6 hours long. So let me tell you whats wrong with your soup then. You put way little ingredients so if you invest $ to put more ingredients, it would never taste like that.
Very good clay pot rice dishes, each dish comes with a bowl of soup & a tiny plate of vegetables.
Awesome little restaurant!
Great portion of claypot rice with variety of toppings. Love their rice roll selections as well. The price is very affordable.
I ordered beef and shrimp rice noodles they make it silky and smooth the price is reasonable
The casserole rice is small portion and the taste not gd as well. I don t recommend to go there if Ure really like eating casserole rice.
The quality of the food is mediocre. The claypot rice seems to be cooked right out of the pot, but there is no aroma. This may be because the rice quality is mediocre . In addition, it is only just cooked , so the rice is burnt and fragrant , and they only provide ordinary soy sauce . Rice rolls are very ordinary . There is basically no service at all. The menu is not served and the water is not poured before you are asked whether you have received your order . There was no one in the room. The grandma wanted to sit next to the wooden stool on the isolation table. Because the old man had back pain and couldnt sit on the soft cushions, she wanted to wait for him to pass . Although the store is not very bright and clean, the hygiene is normal. But I heard the lady at the quarantine station say there is Mickey in the toilet . In this store , after paying, I finally got the warmest reminder from the clerk: the bill does not include tip (emphasize your tone and eyes)! . Forget it, a few mosquitoes will give you something to say, I just want to leave quickly. Trying food around, I didn t expect too much, but I saw that the Google ratings did not reflect the reality at all , please think twice when dining , you deserve better choices in Toronto , not a good quote.
Four Treasures Rice (The rice is averagely burnt. The cured meat is average. The side dishes are quite fresh. The soup is average. Five-fingered peach old chicken
Poor experience junk shop
Such comforting food ! The casseroles ranges from $8.99-$12.99 and it INCLUDES soup and a side of veggies. The rice casserole was abundant with toppings. Great place to eat, with great prices ! What I got: Eel and Pork Ribs Casserole Beef Brisket and Pork Ribs Casserole
Good food, except to crowded and service is really bad, except when checkout, server will say thank you, mthey want tips from customer
Food was okay only. Service was a 1 star. Went with party of 8 and it was apparent when we entered that they were not happy serving a large party. Also be forewarned that they speak very limited English. Worse part is that they accused me of under tipping them. Gave 150 for 130 lunch, and I guess she did not understand when I told her to keep the change for their tip. Weirdly, she later brought back 10 in change. I tried to explain that I had left 20 for the tip but they seemed utterly confused and started to complain among themselves that I undertipped them.
Great taste and portions! For my octopus and minced pork rice, it comes with vegetables and a soup for 11.99, which i find very reasonable. I was full halfway through and had to take the other half home. The steamed rice rolls are really good too! This place can take a bit longer when theres alot of people, but its definitely a very solid restaurant value-wise.
Long wait for pickup
Reasonable pricing and delicious rice dishes, my favourite is the crispy part at the bottom!
Highly recommend. Go check it out
The casserole rice were okay in taste and portion for the price that comes with a side veggie and soup of the day. But we paid an extra $5 each for the stewed soup and all 4 varieties were bland with big pieces of pork soup bone which took up a lot of space. Even the soup of the day was bland without any taste. Can t really understand why they charge $6 - $7 each! The Yu veggie was really long and my dad wasn t able to chew through! Even I had difficulty chowing it down. It also didn t have any oyster sauce or soy sauce for taste. The bottle of soy sauce on the table actually didnt taste salty at all, even though we soaked the rice brown! Curry beef rice didn t have much curry taste and the preserved meat had all the taste. One server splashed dirty water over out food and on my hand when she was clearing a table by our side, and had the gut to blame the water in the basin, not herself! Even though we called to reserve a table for 6, we had to sit tightly and they wouldn t let us move to another bigger table, claiming that it was reserved. But until we left, no big party of 6 or more came. For this price, just go for the rice if you want and don t expect much service. The two stars are for the rice only.
Great place, prices, and atmosphere. Perfect lunch spot.
Very delicious
This is a small but very cleanly maintained restaurant serving Cantonese casserole. Menu is very limited, which is good for me who has difficulty to choose.:;) The staff is very friendly and fast , seated me down immediately. All casseroles come with a soup and small vegetables, and the rice is well prepared with crispy bottom, which is exactly how it supposed to be.
Mandatory tipping, will never come again
The casserole rice was very good, came with (bland) soup and small dish of vegetable. We also order some small dishes while we waited for the rice.
We had the four treasures and spare ribs with black bean sauce casserole rice. Very yummy and rice is surprisingly al denté.
Pretty good and very affordable. I would go back again.
The claypot rice tastes average, the rice rolls are average, but the soup is terrible, and the service is average. Its quite dangerous to give you a cup of 100-degree hot water as soon as you sit down.
delicious
Great value for what you paid, you can exchange the soup for an additional serving of vegetables.
Food was good, portions could be a bit larger. Atmosphere is bare bones but that is typical of Chinese canteens.
This restaurant offers a good variety of clay pot rice options, which is done well with the nice crispy bits at the bottom. The portions of toppings were decent compared to some other places. Each clay pot meal comes with soup and a side of vegetables. The soup was really bland (completely tasteless), but at least you know they dont put in any MSG. We also ordered a side of rice noodle rolls, which I personally thought was done well (not too thick or sticky, with a good amount of filling). If youve never had clay pot rice before, keep in mind that there is a wait given that it takes time to cook. This is standard for places that offer it. Also, takeout is often just not the same, especially in the case of the crispy bits in the clay pot, though Im sure takeout meals are passable! The restaurant itself is very no frills and simple, but fairly clean and seating is comfortable.
Amazing very traditional way of cooking Cantonese rice. My grandparents love it as well. Will definitely come back. Price is unbeatable. $11-13 for a pot of rice with soup and veggie. Love it!!
The food is not delicious and the service is poor. They only accept cash to avoid tax, but they have to collect customer tax and tipping is mandatory. It s terrible. Don t come here.
I come here every week. Authentic carrossel rice, good price, fast service, and VERY CLEAN. I wish they have more options for the daily soup. Come after 2pm if you don t want to wait.
Awful service, terrible attitude, bad food . Bye
Service was terrible and rushed; the staff were rude and uncaring. Rice dishes were elevated to barely passable only once soy sauce was added. Shamed for tipping a small amount. My wife and I went last night and were seated by staff at a small table next to sofa seating in the middle of the restaurant, clearly an afterthought to squeeze more customers into the restaurant. Every item was literally DROPPED at the table with an audible thud or clatter. While browsing the menu, the staff dropped off the utensils and napkins... on top of my wifes hand, then quickly walked off without taking notice, only to hurriedly return to rush us into giving our orders. Staff reached in front of my wife and me to drop cups on the table before pouring hot water in the cups and onto the table. The apple soup was devoid of any flavour and met expectations in name only as it was a soup that had apple (slice) in it (plus a minuscule serving of pork ribs and snow fungus). When rice dishes were served, the staff removed the pot lids in an unsafe manner and the steam that had condensed into hot water was spilled across the table and then subsequently spilled directly from the lid onto my wifes arm. The staff gave a quick, cold, and insincere apology, then quickly walked off and returned with rice paddles for the rice, with another quick sorry without checking to make sure my wife was okay or unharmed. My wifes Preserved Meat & Preserved Duck w/ Rice was mostly bad cuts of meat and duck bones on rice, and even with the soy sauce on the table, my wife found it unappetizing and gave up with more than half uneaten; my Minced Pork & Salted Egg on Rice was mostly fat, and soy sauce made it passable, but I also lost my appetite. Small sides of vegetables were too oily, but passable. When asking for the bill and a takeout box, only the bill was brought to the table. Restaurant only took debit at the back counter, so I took the bill in hand and followed the staff to the counter. I gave an 8% tip out of reluctance despite mostly everything being terrible and not wanting to tip at all. Staff then shamed me for the tip amount and I had to ask a further two times before I was given a takeout box.
Great spot for a variety of clay pot rice. HK style. Authentic flavor. Every rice comes with soup and vegetables. Good value for the price paid. The HK style milk tea was a bit plain, could have used less water and more cream. The restaurant is very clean and spacious.
Add a salty egg, and it tastes good with the rice.
Mediocre food service, rude waitress and she was talking very loud and shouting at customers from across the hall, its our first and definitely last time
Food is good, online ordering system is good, takeout packaging is good, but somehow the ladies there always have attitudes.
Recommendation: Hometown Style Rice Noodle (amazing taste with soy sauce), shrimp & scallops & pork ribs on rice Tips for people first time to go: If you don t like crispy and a little bit hard rice, don t scrape the bowl right away.
customer will give the tip if there have good service. do not force the customer to tip and then suffer very bad service.
There is no problem except that the claypot rice is slow to serve. If you want to eat fast food, it is not suitable.
Other choice was closed decided to give this a shot, good was okay but very bland
A truly authentic Hong Kong experience, rude service, lukewarm water with no refills, soup (water with 3 random things in it), and 35 minutes wait and then they forgot one item and didnt even apologize for forgetting it. The actual rice casserole was good and a pretty cheap price, but it did take 35 minutes (a bit long even for rice casserole. So food was nice but not special. I wouldnt plan to go back or crave the food ever, but it did taste solid for a cheap price so I wouldnt mind eating if friends wanted to.
Better than average casserole rice (typically meats and such cooked on top of rice in a covered pot) at a reasonable price. My favourite is the minced pork and salted egg. Also good is the preserved meat. Also offers beef brisket plus something else on rice that its sister location at Kennedy and Hwy 7 does not. Crunchy rice at the bottom of the pot is always tasty, edible, and relatively easy to scrape off. Dont break your teeth. Ive had 8 pots so far. Each pot comes with a small plate of vegetables and a little soup (not much to the soup, but theres no extra cost).
Tried this restaurant as the pork and abalone rice bowl was very average. I will say it was served hot! The pork ribs was cut into small and tiny pieces with very little meat. The soup didn t have much flavour. You can tell it s a local family business which is great and if anything wanted to give it higher rating. May try again and order a different kind of bowl.
The food was served very slowly and the order was missed. There was a young waiter who smashed the food on the table.
Excellent authentic clay pot rice
If you do pick-up, check to see if you got everything you ordered before you leave. I ordered some dishes and one hour later when I got home, one was missing.
I ended up eating bugs, so disgusting...
Teochew Food
Rude staff
Hot pot rice casserole is some serious comfort food. And this restaurant does it right. The service is friendly and very helpful. The rice comes piping hot and it is flavour packed. My party tried many of their classic casserole dishes and the rice rolls. The rice rolls were fresh and delicious . The complementary soup is a home made and enjoyable. I like that you add your own salt . A nice touch. I will return here again and again for sure . Happy Eats everyone
Taste good
Not as good as the Scarborough location. The daily soup taste like water with no flavour at all
I don t know if it s authentic or not, but it s delicious! I ve fallen in love with claypot rice ever since! I really like their bacon and pork ribs. It has both cured flavor and the saltiness of the pork ribs, and the portion is quite generous. I have experienced both dine-in and take-out. Surprisingly, the take-out tastes very good, the packaging is very good, and the food is still hot when I get it back. Theres nothing to say about the price. Its only 12 dollars and comes with soup and vegetarian dishes. In the past summer, it also came with iced lemon tea. Don t expect too much from the service. A package of 12 dollars does not require a bicycle. Super tasty traditional southern Chinese food Love the preserved meat with crispy rice at the buttom of the pot. Big portion and very affordable price. $12 you can get a combo (rice, vegetable, beverage or soup). A must try place!!
Rice cooked to perfection and toppings were fresh and tasty. Highly recommend tryjng this restaurant.
The expansion of Good Taste Casserole House out of Markham and into Scarborough has made it easier for me to tuck into the comforting dish. And their expanding menu keeps the hunger growls at bay while the 20-minutes elapse. Their BBQ pork rice noodle roll ($4.70) was a great appetizer to share, soft and silky with large slices of pork- even though it wasnt the most evenly spread out across the roll. Im perplexed how some restaurants continue to keep prices low with soaring input costs. Good Taste offers their preserved meat and chicken with rice for $11.99, which is only a dollar more than 5 years prior. They havent skimped on ingredients - if anything theres more protein topping the rice - and it still comes with a side of boiled yu-choy and a pot of soup where the hunk of pork, fruit, and white fungus remains. The execution continues to satisfy: the rice a balanced moisture so that its fluffy but still dry enough so a golden crunchy crust develops on the bottom. While Im normally not a huge fan of the greasiness of preserved meat, its the perfect topping in this dish and keeps the rice from getting soggy. In fact, it actually tasted better than the chicken, which was over marinated causing the texture to be too springy (or song in Cantonese) for my taste.
I don t like the eels, but the ribs are tender, juicy and flavourful. The veggie that comes with the rice is not seasoned, and the soup is not my cup of tea. The rice roll is ok, should have more fillings.
The rice is delicious! Served with salted egg, it is forever divine! The food is also very light! Tremella and pear soup is also delicious! The Hong Kong-style hot milk tea is also delicious (not too sweet at all)! The waiter kept his head down and looked at the computer and was not very attentive. He couldnt see us for a long time, so he tipped less than 10%...
I loveeee this place. It s always my go to when I m around the area for cheap eats. My favourite is the mushroom chicken rice casserole.
Delicious ! This clay pot rice is large enough and tastes good. The important thing is that the rice rolls are better than the rice rolls I had before! Frozen lemon tea is also good
My go to spot for crispy clay pot rice (eel & pork rib) and got a super silky rice noodle roll
The eel is really good but the preserved meat & rice could be chewy if youre not used to that style. Would come again.
Good quality and low price. The slider chicken and eel rice is very good. It s a good choice if you want a simple meal
The rice bowl here is good.
Highly recommended and reasonably priced.
Love this spot for authentic casserole rice! Theres a sufficient amount of toppings and the crispy rice at the bottom is perfect. Also comes with a side dish of choy sum/veggies and either a drink or soup. Service is average, and the prices are not too bad. Would come again!
The most delicious one among the three. I have been here many times!
Best location for casseroles rice
Decent flavour with good price
Good service and general food quality.
It was not an very impressive experience. After waited for my order for twelve something minutes, the rice in the middle of the claypot was still not fully cooked. It was still hard to eat. Only those rice on the outter side is soft enough to eat. The portion of the meat and rice was okay. The soup was good and not too greasy.
When picking up the meal, the middle-aged waitress at the front desk had a very bad attitude! (The young lady in the past had a very good attitude.) When I took it home, I saw that the rice rolls that I paid extra for had no eggs. I called the waiter and the waiter impatiently asked me to ask the platform for a refund! excuse me, we can pay in a single store under the official website. Which platform do you want me to go to to get a refund...
Great value for clay pot rice, it also comes with a soup and veggies all for $12.99! It satisfied my craving but I wish there was more to it. The rice lacked flavour and I wanted more of that crispy crust which the rice didn t really have. #1 preserved meats & eel rice : 3.5/5 #39 spare ribs & chicken feet rice: 3.5/5 Overall the value for what you get really gives them 4/5.
Food had a good taste
Each casserole rice comes with soup and a serving of vegetables. The soup was very bland and tasted watered down, but the veggies are a nice touch and the rice was delicious! Good portion size as well. Service was so-so. Free parking with lots of spots available.
Tasty selection of classic rice and meat in clay pots. Dining room was brought and clean. Service isnt that great, but youre coming here for the reasonably priced food.
Excellent food, service and price. However weve noticed the water they bring you has cleanser smell/taste. Would recommend to not drink it.
good
Good Taste Casserole is really good! This second location is clean, spacious and well-setup in the busy Bamburgh Plaza. It had no weekend lunch lineup when we visited. Their specialty is the casserole rice as you couldve guessed. This HK style claypot rice bowl comes piping hot with your choice of toppings. I ordered a triumvirate of Chinese Sausages & BBQ Eel in the Claypot Rice. With a dash of soy sauce, this salty, savoury & sweet profile is one that Ive enjoyed as a kid. Rice was perfectly cooked with crispy rice padding the bottom of the bowl. This also came with a generous plate of Chinese broccoli in Hoisin sauce, and a refreshing light chicken soup. This was a hearty meal with nutritious value. I can see why its a classic dish for many on chilly days. My wife preferred to order noodles that are on the new items menu. It was her usual order of Beef Brisket Noodles. She seemed satisfied but compared to my meal, the noodle broth was light on flavour & rather bland. The rice noodles were ordinary, and could use the table condiments for extra salt & sauce. Better yet, just stick with the plethora of claypot rice options. I used to frequent Bamburgh Plaza and wish I still did, just to be able to dine here more regularly. For families, a bowl of claypot rice from Good Taste Casserole is a nice way to start the weekend.
Affordable delicious claypot rice and rice roll. Daily soup is mediocre.
Its raining slightly today, so I went to eat the claypot rice at Nuanlili. It is said that this Zhiwei claypot rice restaurant, which has been open for more than three years, is cooked to perfection. The soy sauce tastes just right, and its very cost-effective. It only costs 12.99, including pear soup and small rice noodles. Green vegetables; I also tried the sausage made from self-grinded rice milk. It tasted smooth and tough, and the rice aroma was still rich...
Many options for Pot rice, but almost nothing else.
The claypot rice is excellent and full of flavor! The rice rolls are the best I have ever tasted. The waiters are enthusiastic, especially the sister with the ponytail, who is very nice.
Impressed with the way they do the casserole rice for takeout. Hot and tasty. This is a welcome addition to Scarborough as an outpost of the original Unionville location.
the clay pot rice tasted really good for a reasonable price Parking: just outside the restaurant Food : 4/5 |
Very good stone pot rice location and it was pretty fast considering how long it usually takes to make stone pot rice. The food was good for the price and fast service
The waiting time for food was quite long, and the soup was not tasty.
Serving too slowly
Great spot for bou zai fan, Chinese clay pot rice served sizzling hot and with a side of soup. Everything is kept traditional here, and the casseroles are delicious. The ginseng soup is also very flavourful. I recommend anything with the traditional Chinese lap cheung sausage, but the ginger chicken was equally as delicious.
Definitely warms you up on a cold day
Super delicious~!
Great place to waste time Waited 10 minutes with no menu or water. 35 minutes later I had to check if my order was placed, it wasn t Funny thing is , it was not even busy, many customers left because no one was coming to take their orders. Why bother running a restaurant when you re providing nothing
Comes with complimentary soup and veg. Great value. So yum!
Great clay pot rice place. Hardy and filling for a reasonable price. Vegetarian options: There are options available in the menu Parking: Near a plaza. Lots of parking
Love coming to this place because of the decent value and tasty clay pot rice. The most difficult part of every visit is trying to decide which combo of ingredients we want to try because of the vast amount of options!
Bring me back to old town.
Great hot stone rice dine-in or takeout. Even with 15m drive home, soup and rice were still hot. Rice and toppings were delicious and spot on. Even has authentic crispy rice bottom.
Yummy, good portion, comes with soup, veggie and a drink, recommend!
Wow, they really listened to what the public wanted and they went ahead and opened a bigger location, with tons of booth and seats YES! Bonus also for the short wait time for the food and also less wait time for a table when dine in was safe. Prices may have went up a little bit but where else it didnt ? They also offer noodles if rice is not your thing. Will try to convince my parents to come for a visit when it is safe as they only want CONGEE QUEEN. If the sweet soy sauce is missing, dont hesitate to ask and dont make the mistake like me of thinking the hoisin sauce bottle was the soy sauce since it was the only bottle on the table that looked like soy sauce :P The only thing that hesitates of me giving them 5 stars is the soup *yes, i know you can order pop but who needs all this sugar* The soup is the worse soup ever. It is so tasteless that it tastes like water and no, adding in salt doesnt enhance the taste. I heard the lady before talking about how she makes her soup and she has no idea why the soup turns out like that.. someone please give her a crash course on how to make good Chinese soups. Service as expected from Chinese places, they take your order, serve you and do not ask whether everything is ok or you need anything extra. Typical fast and efficient :)
Really good. So good we ordered twice in one week. The rice casseroles are tasty. The rice casseroles are surprisingly very good. Despite being takeout, the restaurant manages to recreate the crunchy, crispy clay pot rice experience with their takeout containers. Something to keep in mind is that the rice casseroles are the same except for the toppings, and thats how I would describe it. The ingredient choices sit only on the top surface layer of the rice casseroles. They are not mixed into the casserole. I recommend anything with BBQ Eel. Or anything else really. All the choices weve had have been tasty and delicious. This might be also why each of their rice casseroles came with a small container of boiled leafy Chinese greens, container of house soup, and soya drink. The Chinese greens are boiled with a little bit of oil and salt for flavouring. The house soup comes with a piece of apple, and a couple pieces of other Chinese ingredients. Also comes with extra soy sauce in mini containers. The greens, soup, and soya milk are alright. Theyre nice extras. The rice rolls are pretty good. I imagine they would be better fresh from the kitchen as opposed to takeout style. Beef Brisket (Beef Stew on the receipt) is tasty. Smooth, chewy yet soft. Like the rice casserole, the meat is only on the surface. Its mostly lettuce. Despite this, we ordered it again. The takeout packaging is very clever to prevent spillage, and to emulate the clay pot experience as much as possible. Even the soya milk is contained within their own special plastic bag to be stackable. Cant comment on the service because Ive never tried it in person. Available on food apps. Would order directly from the restaurant but I suspect youll have difficulties communicating unless you speak Chinese. In any case, I would recommend trying the rice casseroles and the beef brisket.
Great ingredients (thumb up) and nice website (thumb up)!
Good food! Very good customer service, must good back again!
The taste is authentic, the price is reasonable, the lemon tea is delicious, and the service is not bad.
Good price and food
One of my order should with Canada Dry, they gave me soup??? No cleaning for the vegetables??? The greens still have dirt on each of them which can be see clearly!!!
Food is delicious
Best bang for your buck. If youre hungry and you know it, come in here.! About ten dollars will get you a lot of rice and a drink. The rice is well made and very flavorful. Only reasons why its 3 out of 5 is the service was kinda.... well, being my first time here, I had to guess the process to order and take it upon myself to grab a menu. It was confusing. Anyways, more importantly, second reason is the soy sauce that goes with the rice. I would prefer something thicker and tastier. The one offered seemed a bit watered down. I dont think its a very good tasting soy sauce compared to others Ive had.
Its amazing
Good for value.
Great taste. This is one of the best casserole rice I had in Toronto. Highly recommended.
Favourite place for comfort food, reminds me of my childhood. Love the rice texture and crunchy bits, very homestyle cuisine!
Testy food. My favorite too
There are surprises and disappointments The surprise is chicken Disappointment is bacon The chicken is fresh enough, tender and smooth, and the chicken oil is very fragrant. It penetrates into the rice, there is a surprise! The cured meat is not fresh enough, which makes the cured meat a bit moldy, disappointing...
We went together with 7 people Ordered different dishes and all came out good and the rice is just cooked right without burning. Its so yummy. I would definitely go back and invite friends to eat there together.
Food is fresh. The casserole rice is amazing. Service from owner is awesome. Great food Great people.
The rice rolls are amazing and there s so many options of clay pot rice!
Tasty and good portio!
The environment is very good. I ordered a cheese roll and traditional cured rice. The claypot rice comes with a regular soup. I heard that it is different every day. That day it was Tremella and Snow Pear Pork Ribs Soup. I liked it very much. It is good quality and cheap. Then, the reason for deducting stars is that there is only one waiter in the store and he is busy all the time. It looks very hard.
Best hot stone rice in town!! Take-out is gd too!! Price is friendly and good amount.
The first Cantonese style food restaurant that I liked. There curry beef with rice was delicious
Rubbish, the store cooked two meals for an hour
This clay pot rice is so authentic, with a variety of styles and flavors that are just right for Cantonese tastes. The rice rolls are also thin and crisp The lady who makes the milk tea is pretty and nice.
Food is way too salty. Threw out half. One star because they give you free lemon tea but also threw out half. 0 stars if I could
The food in this restaurant is very tasty. The quantity and quality are both great. The server is polite and friendly. I would come back to this place to eat. I highly recommend it!!
