REMELY’S is an establishment that offers authentic Filipino Cuisine with high standards of quality and freshness. A restaurant that provides not only great food, but also a helping of genuine Filipino hospitality. Located in Scarborough, Ontario on Sheppard Avenue East, just East of McCowan Road, we offer authentic classic filipino dishes such as Adobo, Sinigang, Lumpia, Halo Halo, and many more.
Wow. Rather disappointing. Cost me over 30 bucks for a medium container of beef kare-kare that was not up to standard and arroz caldo. I usually don't post reviews but for the amount of monies I paid for these two items, i was expecting more so you have to do better than just ok guys. Also, your food has gotten unbelievably expensive! Won't be coming back anytime soon, that's for sure.
Im not Filipino and ate this food in many parts in the Philippines. I gotta say, Remely's know how to bring the best taste in every type. Food well made to satisfy. Great job !. If you're in Toronto and love Filipino food, that's the place to be.
I'll start this review by saying that my wife and I have been to Remely's many times. My wife in particular has been going to this restaurant almost her whole life! I do echo other reviewers when they say the service is lacking - there is little line etiquette and staff should be more attentive to customers. The food however has always been unquestionably good and reasonably priced. However, this review is for their catering, which we ordered for our wedding. Our catering experience was very smooth. The catering manager took the time to sit down with us at a table and go over our order and requirements in detail. She answered all of our questions about ingredients and addressed our concerns about dietary restrictions. They checked in with us the day before our event to make sure we were ready to pick up our order. The food itself was hot, fresh, and delicious. It was authentically home style pinoy cooking. The food was a huge hit at our wedding and everyone went home with leftovers (as is tradition). We are still munching on calderetta and pancit! We were happy to support a great local business for our wedding, and they did not disappoint.
Remely’s Restaurant is more than just a restaurant; it’s a nostalgic experience for anyone familiar with Filipino cuisine and a delightful discovery for those new to it. Whether you’re craving traditional dishes or looking to explore new flavors, this bistro offers a genuine taste of the Philippines.
The staff here is incredibly friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious. It’s my first time trying Filipino cuisine,so I appreciated their patience in explaining the menu items to me. There's a wide variety of options available, ranging from meals to snacks to drinks. While there's plenty of seating, it can get quite busy at times, so seating may be limited occasionally. The washroom facilities are well-maintained, which is always a plus. Conveniently, there's free parking right in front of the restaurant, although the plaza can get quite crowded depending on the time of day. I'll definitely be returning for more of their delectable dishes and desserts.
Hands down the best arroz caldo I've tried in the GTA. The price is reasonable with tokwa't baby as combo. Very authentic. Their pork bbq is also a must try. Food is amazing. Unfortunately, service is always lacking. There are always plenty of employees but they seem to be slow in taking orders thus creating line ups. Everytime I come here there is a designated cashier, and 3 employees who can take orders. So I don't understand why it's taking long for customers to be served.
This is authentic Filipino Restaurant. One of the older Pinoy resto in Toronto. Price is reasonable. Food is great and tasty. Serving is good. Staff are nice. Place is clean and organized. Seems that they renovated the interior. It is kinda upgraded. Location is ok. Lots of parking. It's closer to 401 and Markham road. Lots of other restaurants in the plaza too.
Remelys has been around for a long time, from their small spot at Gateforth and Sheppard to their current location. Wide selection of dishes and deserts. Prices may vary, depending on what dish you choose. Can get busy, specially weekends, and very difficult to find a place to sit. Otherwise a great place to dine, definite place to check out.
Pls be careful their is a molds on their dessert food also so expensive
Good food
One of the Best Filipino restaurant in Scarborough.
Ordered bopis and menudo combo with rice. It was okay. Very expensive. Place is too small and service was ok.
HOLY PRICES
Love the bopis & turon !
Love this place. Food tastes so good. Just like back home
Came here at around 11 45am June 19 2024, there was only 1 person in front of the line before me. I waited 25 mins and the staff behind the counter just kept walking back and forth. I drove all the way here to satisfy my craving. Unfortunately, service was so bad. Considering it was lunch time, they should have people ready to serve the line up. I decided to walk out and go somewhere else. Hey if you dont want the business then ill take it somewhere else. Never coming back here.
Great place..I only wish they had higher seats The portion sizes are small too..... Food : 5/5
Whoever cooked the Laing tonight failed. It tasted HORRIBLE. It was too watery, you cant taste the coconut milk. Dont offer this on the menu if the chef cant cook it. I wasted $12 for this small tub. Made my Saturday night bad
Authentic Filipino food. Chicken inasal is by far the best tasting in Toronto. Halo-halo is unpretentious (no mini umbrellas and all) but definitely the best. Staff are friendly and can t fault them for sometimes being unable to attend to you right away during weekend and after working hours. Visit during lean hours and you will get Royal treatment. My non-Filipino co-worker love their mami, lumpia shanghai and halo-halo.
Absolutely loved this place
customer service was great, food was okay, not enough dining seats during lunch rush hour
Small portions of dishes and overpriced.
Ordered a platter for take out...the place was packed and only two cashiers on....it was chaos...when we got home found out our order was incomplete. When I tried calling, NO ANSWER!! Ive been trying for 10 minutes straight. Never ordering from here again...DISORGANIZED!
Love the food but getting too expensive.
The portions are very small and very expensive. Desserts are not fresh.
Just chicken adobo was not so great. Except that eat in. Good quantity and great taste. If not anything have halo halo and sanghai lumpia(chicken rolls ) Kid-friendliness: Very easy going staff with kids.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! We went here for a lot of order and we called beforehand just in case it takes time. They advised half an hour and when we arrived (it was already 30 mins) then we were asked to wait for one of the order for another 20 more mins. (Ofc it took more than another 30 mins) It took us more than an hour to just get all of our orders. Lack of communication. The food is good so applying 2 stars here. You should give a time frame, even thou we understand that you re busy but if we ve called before hand and get a time frame from the worker, we expect it to be ready. Yeah 5-10 mins is different but it was an hour for one thing. Holy moly! Do call an hour before you pick up cus you d be standing still waiting forever if you re in a hurry or hungry!
Over priced for mediocre pinoy food. Servings are small.
I ve kind of known this Filipino restaurant since I was new (1996) in Toronto but never go there due to distance and I thought this is just any other Filipino restaurants in Toronto that are not good enough. We were in their vicinity yesterday and thought of trying. I was surprised to see that their establishment looks nice and good ambiance not a typical of a Filipino restaurant in Toronto that looks and smells poorly. Foods are good and reasonable too unlike most if not ALL Filipino restaurants in Toronto foods are so bad and costly! puro amateurs! Kung sino ang hindi masarap sila pa ang mahal! Hayyy! It s so good to find this Pinoy restaurant. We ll definitely become a suki!
Great food !
Best halo halo in Toronto! The staff are super friendly too
The food is good, kinda pricy tho. The serving size could definitely be improved.
Good food and service. Nice and cozy place, but the Interior needs to be updated.
GREEDY!!! My husband and I drove all the way from Yonge and Steeles to this restaurant because I was always satisfied in the past. I understand that things have gone up but you also have to remember that people work hard for their money. We have to treat each other fairly. You have increased your price but at least give us a reasonable amount of serving as well. Our server was Gem and she DISGUSTS ME ARE YOU ONE OF THE OWNERS? WHETHER YOU ARE OR NOT, TRY TO SATISFY YOUR CUSTOMERS! YOUR BUSINESS CONTINUES TO EXIST BECAUSE OF US !!!
I haven t been here for 2 years , the service is bad food is ok , atmosphere , seats are partly worn out , they should update the inside Cheap plastic spoon and fork The server looks tired and reluctantly wants your business , they need to improve how they deal with people I was wearing work clothes and seems they think I cannot afford to pay for my food They were cleaning and spraying glass cleaner on the windows while you are beside them eating They should do this before opening the store , don t know if I am coming back I will update my reviews to higher ratings if they improve on my complaints They should get staffs that are cheerful respectful and willing to serve customers professionally I asked for spices , they did not even say sure , I will get some They just looked at me and went inside without letting me know that she is getting one for me, though she came back after about 3 minutes This attitude really turned me off Too bad I want to support restaurants in the neighborhood Again I will emphasize the service is bad !
Bloodied dbest
My family has ordered trays of food from here for many years. The food is delicious. We especially love the roast beef and beef calderereta.
I always get their Shanghai lumpia for parties and theyre always an absolute hit. Such a good value and convenient to pick up - remember to call 24h ahead to give them notice!
Great staff and value for money
Yummy foods and good service. Parking: Near to everyone Food : 5/5 |
Food is very good Ambiance is clean Staff are Filipinos, accommodating and are easy to communicate with A must try Filipino Restaurant Food : 5/5 |
Filipino take out and dine in food experience, turo-turo aka cafeteria style. The place is clean, well lit and the food, fresh. Though we ordered a combination plate with two items plus rice, you can also preorder trays of food; they also cater. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures but I will do this next time. Parking: This restaurant shares a big, free parking spaces for customers with other restaurants and stores nearby. It can get busy in the evening but there is always available parking.
Happy 26th Anniversary! We got a free pancit when we walked in today ! Food here is Always delicious and fresh! Keep it up!
Feels like home
Staff very polite and attentive!
Great if you are looking for large trays of food for parties or gatherings. Oder in advance and pick a time to pick up your food fresh.
Never again will order food in this restaurant during holidays. We ordered our food about a week before Christmas eve and we schedule to pick it up at a certain time but we ended up standing on a line for 3 hours to get our food. The food wasnt that great. It was salty and seems like it was pre heated. It was not like this before they used to be great.
December 24, 2021 Does anyone know what is happening at Remely s? Apparently there are almost 50 people inside the store when there should only be a maximum of 20 people. Waiting outside in a lineup for an hour now to pick up pre ordered food we ordered 2 weeks ago. Called their phone number and unable to get through to someone. Order was to be ready for pick up at 4:30 pm and and have been waiting for almost 3 hours! Update: Finally picked up our order 3 hours late. Offered no discount. Offered no apology. Offered no compensation. Offered no updates while their customers were standing out in the lineup in the cold. Did not acknowledge untimeliness. Therefore a BIG FAT FAIL on Customer Service! So Christmas Dinner at home with family supposedly for 5:00 is now for 7:30pm.
please improve your Palabok and Chicken BBQ I dont think the price matches the taste. Thanks
Consistently good
Most of the food are yummy.
Has been serving consistent good Filipino foods
the beef is salty, not tasty...
Got the Turon freshly cooked. The plantain was not as ripe as Ive had it before. We also got the grilled bangus fish. Very good.
Filipino restaurant we go to for 25 years dating back from their old place on Sheppard, east of Markham. Now, with a bigger place and more Filipino food varieties and Pinoy drinks.
This place is always superb. As straight up recommended top places to go for Filipino food. If youre ever in the area for authentic Filipino Food, definitely worth the trip, even if you love across the city.
Three stars because of the very disappointing (and expensive) egg pie. Everything else is good just AVOID the egg pie. Id give it another chance if they dropped the price to, at least, $15 (from $27)
Food is ok but I bought bread its old .
Food wise this place is great but the service has gone down over the years. The woman serving even with a mask on you can tell her face was just brutally rude and tone confirmed the attitude. Customer service impacts the business even if the food is good there are alternative options if not served properly. Bella s Lechon and Seafood city has remained the Filipino hospitality every time I went. If this continues will no longer visit after over a decade of patronage.
Over priced, there are better locations in the area I would rather go to that taste better as well.
Good service
Consistent, friendly, good food
Ordered food 2 weeks in advance for a family gathering..we told them that we will be picking up pur order between 10:30 n 11:00 am. As soon as we arrive we aprached the cashier to pick up our order..we waited for 45 minutes to get our order. No apologires offered nor explanation for the delay!!! Very disapointed..looks like late delivery is the NORM..
Great Philippines food and treat place. Service was excellent and will be back for sure.
Order through the phone and pick up in store. Said will be done in 25 mins. Then I arrived at store told me it s not ready, I have to wait another 20mins for my order. No apology and no one gave me any excuse. Not recommend and never come back!
We always do pre- order but it always ends up like a walk in because you still have to wait for like 20 mins to get your order. Yeah right! PILIPINO TIME. WERE HERE IN CANADA.
Do not order from Door Dash! I placed an order, got charged for my meal, my driver arrived at the restaurant to pick up my food and the restaurant told me driver to leave as they were not fulfilling Door Dash orders Today. They didnt cancel my order and theyre not answering the phone from Door Dash customer service
Good food. Great service
A bit expensive than other Pinoy food restaurants but its worth it. Better taste. Try it.
Chicken lumpiang Shanghai was amazing! Chicken Adobo was a little lacking in flavor but still pretty good.
Very nice Filipino restaurant!!!
My brother-in-law and sister bought pinakbet and dinuguan. The squash from the pinakbet was still hard as a rock and it was too greasy! Almost broke my tooth! I have a video of it!
Halo-halo... the best!
Staff was friendly. Food is good. Portions could be better but I get it.
Its really delicious, its just that its so expensive compared to other Filipino restaurants.
Expensive
Just ok, but I definitely recommend their halo-halo.
Food always taste good..
Great Filipino classics and snacks!
Place is nice and comfy but one of the waitstaff is unpolite to deal with upon ordering food.
Best spring rolls in Scarborough...
Stuffs were friendly. Customer service is great!
Great food, staff is always super nice
You cant get anymore Filipino than that dish
Place is clean and served variety of Filipino food and desserts. Must try the halo-halo if you have a sweet tooth.
Stopped in for an early lunch/breakfast and had a combo with Longanisa, bbq pork skewer and Pancit noddles. Also had a side order of Arroz Caldo & Palabok noodle dish. Everything was amazing including the friendly service. If you havent tried fipino food before this is a great restaurant to try out. Highly recommended place to have a nice inexpensive quick meal in the newly renovated dining area. Looking forward to eat her again the next time Im in Scarborough.
Ive been going to this location for over 2 years now, I call 20 - 30 min in advance for a dine in order. Im always advised 10-15 min to prepare food. I arrive exactly 20 min after I place my order and it is still never ready. I work 5 min away and have a short lunch break. I always never get to eat because by the time theyre done my break has exactly 5 min left for me to rush through my meal. STOP TELLING CUSTOMERS THAT THEIR FOOD WILL BE READY IN 15 MIN IF YOU YOUR GOING YO TAKE 40 MIN TO MAKE A MEAL. I even give the restaurant plenty of time to get my meal together! I time everything from when I call 30 min before my lunch break starts to the travel time to get to your establishment. If your business can not prepare food in time dont advised customers that the food will be ready in 10 - 15 min! Also I didnt even get fresh rice they microwaved it on front of me!
But very expensive just bought 2 items and already $40
Food is good but very pricey for the portions you get. Their food is no better than Jesse Jr or D Barkadz or any other ones there is. Also, they have less options than others. Scarborough has many Filipino food joints and this by far has the MOST TERRIBLE SERVICE. During my visit, 2 out 3 food servers are rude and unwilling to help! I wish there were an option for negative stars and or a nametag at least!! Steer clear of this overpriced joint, they just reminded me exactly why I NEVER come here, never again! Thank you for ruining my day.
Ok food
Organized and one of the best pinoy stores for take out food. Delicious assorted pinoy food and delicacies that would definitely satisfy, truly a tummys delight
I visited Remelys for the first time after going to FV Foods for the last 10 years. We got Pinakbet, Pusit, Adobo, Lumpia, Turon and Halo-Halo (we were so excited, we got so much) and everything was perfect! It tasted and felt like amazing comfort food from home. Im so glad we found Remelys and glad that its on the north side of Scarborough so we dont have to travel so far. Cant wait until COVID is over, well have to stay for lunch one day.
Clean..good food...pleasant employees
Place is always busy. Love the halk halo
Delicious food. I love their palabok and spring rolls.
Quality of their products are good, amount of serving are a bit smaller than other Filipino stores around....
Awesome glazed ham very friendly and helpfull
Food is a bit expensive but tastes good. I love the bbq and leche flan. Leche flan is smooth and not to sweet.
Bought 2 desserts, bopis and dinuguan. Dinuguan has so much fat and bopis is very salty. I have to say also price is very EXPENSIVE .... cost me $30 for 4 small portions items. Damnnnnn never coming back. Btw the dessert was ube rice pudding and Maha Blanca...very sweet for my taste ...nothing special.
My order was scheduled for pick-up at 4pm, since i was in the area, i decided to drop by at 2:20pm, i called multiple times but they ignored their phone calls, and asked if i could just take my order earlier. The helpful cashier told me i should be able to get my order at 3pm. I waited long enough and unfortunately at 3:30 i was told that since my pick up time was at 4pm i had to wait. Well, if i m not mistaken- the owner s wife, accommodated someone s order whose pick-up time was at 4pm and that customer came later than me. If she knows you she will accommodate you first regardless of your pick-up time!. I complained due to the unfair and unprofessional treatment and response. They handed me over a cold roast beef and told me to heat it up. If my son wasn t with me I would have returned it back and gave them a lecture. I know customer service as my family owns a business. They were very disorganized and alot of customers complained about the long wait for the orders they made days before. They lack quality and man power! it shows poor management! This restaurant can not manage to meet the orders during the holidays in a timely manner. with the price they set on every menu, it s not worth it! I heard a customer said - this is my first and last with Remely s they are so disorganized! I can attest to that because it also happened to me! Sadly i spent alot of dollars to this restaurant but never again!
Consistently good food
Dear Remelys, Today (Dec. 31st) I ordered the all day breakfast - tapsilog and tocilog for takeout. It smelled really good in the car but when I got home and ate it the rice tasted really bad. It was low quality rice that smelled AND tasted old/like bodega or old rice that has been placed in storage. The meager amount of garlic in the fried rice did not mask the poor quality of the taste. For the price, I would not recommend these dishes to others unless it is switched to higher quality rice. I could not eat the dish unfortunately and had to eat the meat and egg with my own rice at home.
Not bad
We only come here for the lumpia
Wish they had more veggie dishes and more cakes available for same day pick up.. fresh lumpia here is yummy.
Karekare is ok, bbq stick was good but cold and turon was yum!
I always crave their Palabok and delicious desserts!
Really good food but its too expensive, I have found other Filipino places with reasonable prices and exceptional food. I would love to come back, but maybe they can possibly lower their prices.
I remember their halo halo to be better than todays. It had too many beans!
Awesome
foods / selections are really expensive ..like not exxagerating but its way expensive and the quality is not even that high..I live like 2 mins away from here (Markham and Sheppard) but I will never come back here and would rather drive somewhere else (Filipino resto/ store) .. most of their crew here dont even smile at you and look you in the eyes when they talk..tried their tapsilog one time and the suppose garlic rice dont even taste garlic nor u can taste the garlic on it and the tapa is super hard and dry like it lools it has been there for long time or the other day .... over all, their pricing is not reasonable..alot of people I know also say the same things and they also stopped going to this place...
Great local spot for Filipino dishes, homely.
One of the best Filipino restaurant in Scarborough.
we came into this place today at around 3:00pm to try their ALL-DAY BREAKFAST, but was told that they are sold out... so why advertise All-Day when you are not able to fulfill that obligation?
Food is alright, but their customer service is awful. They were very rude to us and were rolling their eyes, then implied my mom couldnt afford it. Yeah, the food is overpriced and not worth it. But the staff? Even worse.
Love this place. I must confess that I have not tried there hot foods and so therefore my rating is based solely on the Shanghai and plantain pastry. You can get the Shanghai in pork or pork and shrimp. The pastry is very light and one bite takes you to the next level. The pastry remains me af petebana from my country. Its ripe plantains wrapped in pastry dough and baked. My mouth is watering just talking about these goodies. Must, must try.
Good but expensive
Nice place, a lot of variety, clean restaurant, friendly staffs and good food.
Good but over pricd
Still the best Turon and Halo Halo in the city.
The tables and chairs are awful. Our food was warm when we ordered it but it turned cold quickly because of the AC blowing cold air in our food. Also, a bit pricey. Overall the food is not bad at all.
40+ minutes for tapsilog. Needed to settle for regular rice because staff just keep saying it s coming . My wife stood there like a statue for a order you said would be ready in 10 minutes.
I love this little eatery/cafeteria and Catering co. I come with my kids for a casual lunch or dinner and they love it too. Catering is also very good and reasonable for how much food there is! Pick up only, I believe. Food is delicious and the staff always friendly and smiling. Highly recommend - if you are craving a quick Filipino meal, you wont be disappointed... well if you go too late there may be less choices because they will almost be sold out I guarantee.
Been going to this place for a quick grab of food to go and rarely i complain of theyre food portions though i admit they are way too pricey for an average filipino food restaurants in the city. Today, i bought 2 chicken arrozcaldo at $7.99 each and very disappointed upon serving it to my kids! It barely has pieces of chicken! It may have about 3 or 4 small portions of chicken in each bowl and 1/2 portion of an egg! This is not my first time buying the arrozcaldo that is why i can really tell a big difference! Also bought 6 pork BBQ skewers which is the best so far i have tasted that is why i still buy it at $3 each. I recommend the place but i hope they can improve their servings and offer more fair pricing!!!
Summer or spring, winter or fall, Remelys Halo-halo is available to satisfy ones craving for it!
Excellent food!! But quite expensive. Like the in-store ambience.
Food is overpriced. Small serving. Uncomfortable place to dine in. Very cramped. The only thing I like is their turon
Its typical like fast food self service Filipino restaurant. Space is neat & but small though. Food is yummy. Bring cash
Best place for Filipino food
Efficient. Breki menu reasonable. Good selections. Today its their 21st Anniversary. Complimentary ube cake and pancit. Both good!
Deliciously good
A grand selection of Filipino food for the public to feast on. They have an all-day-breakfast as well garlic fried rice yum highly recommend
Best tasting, lots of variety, reasonably priced Filipino restaurant. A definite must try.
Good filipino cuisine fare for eat-in and takeouts
Great place for some Filipino food. Homey and yummy. Even have some baked goods.
Nice food but a bit pricey..
