As a person who was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. This place is authentic Scot chippy shop. They have a decent quality fish. Now what me usually order is something me miss in Scotland and UK in general which is black pudding and haggis. In the past they used a banger variant good but could be rough around the mouth which is naturally for any fried sausage, recently they change to haggis and black pudding rounds, honestly the taste and experience change so much. They have one me fave fizzy drink IRN Bru .Amazing Friendly Staff for any one to enjoy. You want authentic Scottish you found the place.

Early 70s atmosphere in the restaurant with the ceiling showing water damage spots is quite eerie. But once the food came out the eerie feeling went away. Enjoyed the seafood platter with halibut. Server/chef was very knowledgeable of the dish and was able to explain dishes very well. Will definitely do takeout next time.

The most wonderful service I ve ever had at any restaurant. The lady at the front remembered my full order after one visit and that s not all. They were very nice, gave great suggestions and made me feel looked after. The food was also amazing and the halibut is delicious. The atmosphere is amazing I highly recommend giving it a try.

I was really looking forward to fish and chips. I bought 2 fish and 1 chips. It was 33.40. it was terrible and my aunt said it was rotten. Lesson learned, not to go back.

I ordered a 4 haddock chips and 2 gravy through uber. Normally your food is on point, but my fish was absolutely dry and the chips were too hard. What happened?

Cozy local restaurant serving generous portions of deliciously battered fish and chunky, pub-style chips for eat-in and takeout. My go-to order is the Haddock & Chips Platter, which pairs a beautiful fried haddock filet with a few battered shrimps and scallops. Add on a side of delicious brown gravy, maybe some onion rings, and youre all set. The shop has several booths and tables for dining in, but also serves up orders super quick - usually ten minutes or less - for takeaway. My Place Fish & Chips happens to be conveniently located for a stop along my commute, but I wouldnt hesitate to go out of my way for a fish dinner here.

Good customer service. Fast and attentive staff, but they were speaking another language right in front of me, to each other, which made me feel uncomfortable. Place was busy and kinda noisy too. Food was not good, sorry. I can eat better food from the frozen foods in the grocery store. Overall, average experience.

This place used to be a lot better. I ordered two portions of halibut today, and they only gave me ONE small packet of tartar sauce to share between two people, and wanted to charge money to get more packs of tartar sauce. If I only bought one fish and chips, would they only squeeze out half a pack of sauce for me? Considering it was over $45 for that, they are just being greedy to not include tartar sauce with an order of fish and chips. Dont waste your time here, if they cant even include sauce with a meal you paid for, theyre not worth your time or money. Youve lost a loyal customer over cheaping out a couple cents for sauce that should be included.

Started going here about 10 years ago. Its the only place Ill eat fish and chips. Chips are fresh-cut in house and delicious. Fish is not fishy, has great flavour, amazing batter, not too greasy, very crispy. Family enjoys the halibut, haddock, scallops, and shrimp. Onion rings are also great. Portions are good. A single fries is quite large, many only need a half fries. We usually share a single fries between 2 people and its lots. Love this place. Highly recommend. Amazing fish and chips. Its super rare to find a place with great fish and great chips, usually one suffers, but here both are phenomenal.

The perfect mid-week treat, and it was $10!!! Still the best fish and homemade chips in town - shocked they werent very busy at lunchtime. Dont forget to support our local mom and pop small businesses! Theyre what make a neighborhood a community!

The fish here is always light and the batter is crispy. The tartar sauce and gravy are also good. The older waitress is very nice and will come to check on you and sometimes make conversation.

Best fish & chips in the area. I had tried the place next door called Halibut House but My Place is exceedingly better. Not only is it cheaper, but portions are bigger. I felt that the fish was cooked perfectly while my experience at Halibut House was met with soggy fries and overcooked fish. I would totally recommend the halibut & chips at My Place, its a must-go.

Ordered halibut and chips. Delicious and flakey fish with just the right amount of batter. The fries are vile though, obviously frozen and tastes like theyre expired when they cool down.

We ordered 2 haddock and chips, pickles beets and 1 irn bru. We are very impressed with the fish, such a large piece and fish was very thick and batter crispy. Chips fresh and tasty just like we remember them from Scotland. The whole meal was fresh and delicious! I was a little concerned about the Irn Bru cost of $4.50, thought it was for a can, but it was a large 500ml bottle. That was a very pleasant surprise! We will definitely try again! Update This time our fish was so small and thin. I was in shock. The black pudding was large. Unfortunately they forgot to include malt vinegar and tarter sauce. Our saturday treat was very disappointing. I hope this is not a permanent change.

This place used to be good. Used to be a great deal. Now you re paying for a tiny piece of fish and an entire plate of fries. So essentially you re paying an outrageous amount for French fries.

This is my favorite fish and chips place. It has a really nice local, family-owned vibe. Food is simple, not too greasy. Good crispy batter that isnt too thick.

Got the lunch special, grouper and fries. Fish was nice and soft, bit more batter than I would prefer but it didnt deter from the meal too much. I use lemon and malt vinegar on top of the fish to give it some flavour. Fries were okay, not too bad not too good, you go here for the fish anyway. Really nice price nowadays for what you order. Would recommend for lunch if in the area

This was my first time trying My place Fish and Chips and I must say I am really impressed. I got the Haddock and chips with a side onion rings. The piece of fish was fresh and not overly oily ( big portion). The chips were very tasty ( the meal came with more fries just not shown in this picture) overall, I am very happy with the quality, quantity, and experience at My place. The owner and cook were pleasant :) I will certainly be back !

Honestly, the cheapest and best value for fish and chips in town, with their grouper and chips for under 9 bucks! Super friendly staff, and a very old-fashionef quaint feel to the restaurant. This is a family business that has been around for over 20 years - so its really nice to show them some support too. The gravy is really nice here and goes well with the chips, but I wouldnt recommend the calamari rings - youre better off with the Costco versions. Other than that, its a nice place!!

Happened to stumble on this place by accident because the place we initially wanted to go to was closed, and GLAD we came here. Food is EXCELLENT. Serving size for the haddock platter is excellent. The customer service is also friendly and kind. New fave fish and chips place. The batter is tempura style so even though you eat so much, it feels light.

I first gave this place 5 stars but they were so disorganized today Good Friday. They just leave their customer try to figure out their system. Today I called in and was told 30 min. I got there and waded through the customers trying to place their order. I worked my way to the front and tried to pick up my order only to be told cash only. Apparently their debit terminal was out ( nudge nudge wink wink). I m thinking this is how they added the tax to their profits. I don t really care about that because that s between them and CRA but they should have told me on the phone Their fish and chips were good as usual but they really need a plan for next good friday

Tried My Place for the first time based on many positive reviews and was a good experience overall. Ordered the haddock and it was a large piece, very crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, fresh and not greasy. The fish could use a little more seasoning. Service was excellent. Among the typical fish & chip shops, this was one of the best ones I ve tried so far. However nothing can still beat the Olde York Fish & Chips in Toronto. I ll be back as the location is convenient, food quality is good and service is excellent.

The service is ALWAYS SLOW when I get here, I call ahead, the woman tells me 15 minutes, and when I get there and pay I gotta wait 15 min for my meal so dont bother calling this place for call ahead pick up. The food is excellent, but these guys need to hire more people due to the extreme waiting times, theyre always understaffed. 4 people, all together, during a dinner rush is insane. If you plan on ordering go in to order, which will take a long time, sit in your car for a half an hour and then go in to pick up

My cousin recommended this place and my husband and I loved it! We ordered the Halibut Platter (includes Shrimp, Scallop and Chips) and the Haddock Combo (includes Chips and choice of Coleslaw or Small Salad). The batter was perfectly crispy and coated the fish/seafood nicely. It wasn t soggy or falling off the seafood at all. Chips had some crunch to it but still nice and fluffy on the inside. Coleslaw was great as well and complimented the meal. Service is good. I feel like the lady serving us might have been new or very shy. But we were still very satisfied with everything. Overall my husband and I loved this spot and even said it was the best fish and chips we ve had! Absolutely would recommend this place!

I ordered a halibut and chips.....the women who is the owner said some thing to her daughter in her language then I seen here daughter reach into a special container witch must be the spoiled fish.....she proceeded to dip the spoiled fish in the batter and fry it in the same oil and they know its was no good....so as I open my food I can smell bad fish I said to the owner why did you guys give me bad fish she tried to put the blame on her daughter gave me my money back dont not eat here if you are black

DO NOT COME!! My family and I ordered a Family Pack which for some reason was a different price then take out. The waitstaff then confused us by saying coleslaw was included if you eat in the family pack. Expecting a family size pack coleslaw we received a single sized portion of a gross mayo version on coleslaw to split between all of us. We got confused and waitstaff just shrugged shoulders and didnt really care. Fish and chips were pretty gross as well because it was fried in rancid oil and so bland. Tartar sauce was also their own mayo mix concoction so gross. Waitstaff so rude and unprofessional. DO NOT COME! I DID IT SO YOU DONT HAVE TO!! SAVE YOUR $$$

The batter here is all popped out, exploded, with deep crevasses that trap the grease. It is not English style batter, thin, crisp, and smooth. It is puffed up with cornstarch and baking powder like a shrimp batter. It traps the oil and cant be blotted, rough. The fish was so thin they must have cut it on a meat slicer. Fries were ok, but bland, pale, and flavourless, (under done). Not what we call dirty fries, hand cut, with a little peel still on them, golden and crispy, no! But the fish, this was one greasy sonofabitch! I better get my cholesterol checked. Wont be back. But you may like a good sit down of deep fried batter and grease with no inkling of what good English Style Fish n Chips are like. So have at er. Aye maties. Enjoy yer special. Reminds me of Hwy 400 Sun Fish on a Bun $2.95 long weekend. Arrrrr Billy!

Ambience is really cute. 80s kind of feel with orange booths and green table cloths. We ordered the mushy peas as a side and were sadly disappointed. Just canned peas basically, not even mushy. But we will definitely be back. Loved the food and highly recommend. Yum

Amazing food in an old fashioned restaurant. While visiting the area, my wifes brother brought us here. Reminds me of a restaurant my dad owned in the 70s. The fish and chips were the best Ive had and the fried shrimp were AMAZING (best Ive had since my dad passed away, 20 years ago). I never would have found it in a sea of restaurants and mini-malls! EAT HERE, you will not go wrong!

My family swears by this family fish and chips spot! I really enjoyed the halibut and the French fries. Halibut was fresh and lightly battered, I like more batter but this was not too greasy and tasted fantastic. The French fries were thicker than Im used to but nice and crispy so I cleared my plate which I dont always do with fries. The gravy was good, could recommend to be a darker and thicker gravy. We all enjoyed it thank you!

The food is actually good but I m appalled at the fact that they want customers to pay extra for coleslaw and tartar sauce! Those are staple items with fish and chips and should be automatically included with every order. Never ordering from this place again.

It s not halal, I asked them And they use animal fat in the oil. They don t cook only in vegetable oil and they use animal fat. Not good for Muslims.

The Halibut and Fries was great. The portion size was good and the batter was excellent. The price was a little steep and bordered on removing whatever value there is in the meal. The meal is comparable to similar restaurants. I have to add that the fresh tartar sauce would change everything. The packaged sauce is disappointing. I recommend My Place for some decent takeout. I will go again.

Ordered halibut fish and chips I understand there are issues since the pandemic but this fish was gross and the chips tasted off I phoned to complain and they basically said the price for halibut has gone up so much theyre giving some other fish but saying its halibut thats the last time Im going there and they never even offered a refund

We asked the restaurant to cater a family dinner for 50 people today. The owners were very accommodating and everyone raved about the haddock and fries dinner, including the coleslaw. The haddock was a big piece with a light thin batter; not oily at all! My Place definitely knows how to make fish and chips and we will order again and recommend to friends and family.

By far... best place. They dont over fry. They dont make their fish soggy.. the fries are like Harveys fries thick and not too salty. They are very fast. And friendly. So many loyal people go there. Its at Victoria Park and Sheppard . Chinese own it. And they are super sweet. Great team work

Went to My Place to get Halibut... Halibut was on the menu... I paid for Halibut. When I got home, it was certainly not Halibut. Looks like they might be selling cod instead. Beware of this place. You do NOT get what you pay for. Found other reviews complaining of this very thing, so it was not a one-time mistake. Shame.

Very disappointed at the SMALL portion size and HIGH price for a take-out dinner of Halibut & Chips. This used to be our go-to location for British fish and chips but it is simply too expensive for the amount of fish you receive now. Restaurant also has a really run-down vibe to it. Will not be returning.

My top choice for fish n chips in Scarborough. No other places compare in Scarborough. I always get good consistent food and service here. I wouldnt bother going anywhere for fish n chips nowadays because of all my horrible experiences at other fish n chips places, especially B & B fish n chips on Queen street. The fries here are so crispy and delicious. The batter used on the fish is light and flaky and just awesome. Every time I have a lousy fish n chips in Toronto/Ontario/Earth I cant wait to go back to My Place for a proper halibut and chips.

This location is a Gem literally feels and taste like grandmas kitchen it is nice to take a break from fast food and go to a Diner like this. Recently I had turned vegetarian/pescatarian and was looking for a meal that I can get while being out or just not feeling like cooking I PROMISE YOU, YOU HAVE TO TRY THEIR HALIBUT SANDWICH IT LITERALLY TASTE LIKE A MCDONALDS CHICKEN NUGGET BURGER LOL BUT IS MADE WITH ALL FISH ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. The customer service is amazing and this place is worth every penny thank me later! I know you would enjoy it if you tried it!

Quaint little restaurant with tasty food. The service was good, and I would likely order from here again. However, we found it odd that the Halibut platter which includes one piece of halibut, chips, 2 scallops, and 4 shrimp (we also ended up with 2 clam strips each as well) did not come with a coleslaw, but the next menu item down which was just Halibut and chips did come with a coleslaw. Not the biggest issue, but whats fish n chips without coleslaw?? Overall, a good meal.

Ordered through uber eats and asked for extra tartar sauce for the halibut. Boy did they deliver! Huge portions and great quality for the halibut chips coleslaw and gravy. You can tell they use fresh oil for frying from the taste and color of the batter. Its my go to for fish and chips now. Thanks guys and great job!!

We ordered two family size meals. The halibut and fries. It was pretty good. Whole family liked it. Tasted a bit greasy but thats totally how is supposed to be. Fries were nice and thick but also crunchy. Calamari wasnt really good though, wouldnt recommend it. Stick to the fish and chips

Absolutely disgusting people that work there. I ordered a halibut and fries and went home to eat it and it was completely dry I found hair in my food too. I called the store to let them know because it wasn t edible and I said I would bring it back to them and they said no worries just come in for the refund. I went back in for the refund a few days later and they they gave my half the money back and told me I am never allowed back into there restaurant.again. Horrible service if I could put negative five star I definitely would.

As a person from Aberdeen, Scotland. Been hard to find me self a shop where they have black pudding and haggis. They have meat pies not authentic to real meat pie but still good. As well their chips and fish are damn good battered fried properly. While they did have trouble me understanding Scottish accent they still took me order.

The halibut and chips here are really yum! I like the fact that you can as for a few chips if youre one of those people that can never finish the chips (that would be me). Their kids fish and chips is my 4yr olds go to.

Good tasty food, sadly you dont exactly get what you are paying for when it comes to the amount given. Though to be far it is freshly made to order to a degree the blood pudding is imported tasting doesnt taste fresh at all nor does the haggis.

The fish and chips from here are great,large portions of lightly batterd fish,halibut or my preference, haddock, and the French fries our cut and processed in house,so no frozen ones,I highly recommend this place when the desire for great fish and chips hit you,I have been to this place 4 times now in the last month and a half, once again highly recommended, the best that I have had in a while. ......
