789 Warden Ave. Unit 2, Scarborough, ON M1L 4C2, Canada
Basic spot featuring Indian-inspired Chinese fare, including spicy seafood entrees & Hakka noodles.
Let's keep it 💯! You're coming here for the food - and if that's the case don't worry about the overall rating. While the service is ok and the environment is average - the food is still great 🔥 We had the: ✅ house special fried rice ✅ chilli chicken ✅ crispy ginger beef Everything was good as core hakka food needs. The beef was a bit chewy on some pieces, but overall flavourful. The prices are affordable and the food was good so you should definitely give it a try, enjoy!
Hakka legend was the best place for me to have veg ball manchurian until today. I would always recommend this place to everybody but today it was huge disappointment. As always, we made a regular order of manchurian on uber eats and we just got extremely burnt , bitter, inedible manchurian. Posting a picture to see. I am not able to process that whoever packed it must have seen how much burnt it is. How could you pack it???? Giving one star for today only. All these time I have had before : it was 5 star. I would not have complained if it was little bit overcooked but it was very bitter to taste
This is one of my most go to place for Indio-Chinese style cuisine. Really great service and food is super in terms of taste and value for money. The quality and quantity is also something that’s come along with reasonable pricing. Loved the place, food and atmosphere here. Great for family gatherings and dinner nights. Easily accessible locations across Greater Toronto Area.
I love the food but lately I don't know why I'm being charged a mandatory 20-25% tip. We were just 2 people. I understand if it was a large party and they wanted to charge mandatory gratuity. I believe tipping should be a choice. I generally always tip when I like the service but being forced to do it is not pleasant. On top of that when I was handed the card machine, it also prompted me to add a tip on what was already included. I love the food and hate to say this but I won't be going there anymore simply because of this mandatory tip.
Ordered vegi balls (gravy) with paneer noodles along with other things. Found hair embedded in one of the vegi balls. Pathetic. I am really disappointed. Never gonna order from here.
Hakka Legend is the best Hakka restaurant in Toronto. Their fish pakora, chili chicken, and vegetable fried rice are absolutely delicious. It's a fantastic place for both dine-in and delivery, with wonderful staff providing excellent service.
This small and cozy hakka style Indo-Chinese restaurant serves authentic and delicious cuisine. Their large portions, a wide variety in food manu, reasonable prices, and excellent and quick service are added advantage. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has ample seating arrangement. They also have ample parking spaces.
2023 October 3.5★ The food itself can be a hit or miss depending on what is ordered. $14.95 Lollipop Chicken 8 pieces Not bad. $13.95 Fish Pakora Pretty decent. Not the best out there, but was good. $16.95 Spicy Deep Fried Mixed Seafood (Dry) This was a little underwhelming. It wasn't as expected. The seafood was more or less a mix bag of stuff you'd find in the freezer isle. It was also too salty. $13.95 Guyanese Chicken on Egg Fried Rice This was pretty good. The rice was flavorful and the chicken was tender. $13.95 House Special noodles The noodles were decent as well. Not overly salty and yet has a Hakka style flavor. Free parking.
One of the most unexpected experience at this location today. We have been going to this location for over a decade and always enjoyed the food and customer service. Today was after about five years that we got the chance to be in that area and decided to have supper there. Ordered vegetable fried rice, Manchurian chicken and chicken corn soup. The rice was mushy. What took us aback was that they were charging more than what the general tax would have been in the name of GRATUITY. Means generally there is a sales tax for 13% but since 14 December 2024 there should be no sales taxes on food and groceries till 14 February 2025 by law. So this location charged about 17% of my total bill and added it as Gratuity. Why on earth am I forced to pay 16-17% extra of my food price? And then there was option for tip too. The tip option, ok I understand, but WHY FORCED GRATUITY?!?? Upon asking the counter, the guy said that it is done in all restaurants. It was clearly a lie as we dine out quite often. We did not argue any further as we did not want to any stress. But I would advise everyone dining at this location to check their bill carefully as the total charges are more than what you would order because of added gratuity price which I think is unethical and illegal. I am never going to this location again.
Made a larger order of over 10 lunch items. Called them to modify the rice for one of the orders from egg fried rice to vegetable fried rice, they couldn t do it. Did not provide utensils or even plum sauce for the spring rolls. I wouldn t support them again.
Was mine and my sisters go-to place for Hakka because the food hit close to home. Went there yesterday. Usual business owners/servers weren t there. My sister couldn t remember the one dish we had ordered the last time. Our server was great, helped us through and even asked the kitchen about the dish. We ordered a Chop-Suey and a rice dish. The chop-suey firstly had very little sauce but we didn t bother sending it back. However after a few more spoons, we could literally see lumps of starch that we literally gooey and non-edible ! The manager - Mr. Dominic - came to our table. First he calmly asked us if he can replace it to which we agreed ! Then he continued talking and saying, we cannot make special requests and will make it the typical way. My sister then requested him to change the dish to a fried rice/ butter garlic fried rice to which he said in a very mean way - we cannot do anymore of your ways of making the dish and can give you only a regular fried rice. Nothing more. The attitude on this manager is truly pathetic. We told him we don t want anything more. And what makes is worse is he starting shouting in Mandarin near his table and we could understand because he kept saying - butter garlic fried rice out loud all the time. NEVER coming back ! Used to recommend this place to friends and family. No more ! You re in a customer service business. At least try and keep your regular customers happy !
2 customers and still very very long wait.
Food tastes exceptional but more oily
Didn t like the fact that tip is mandatory and without letting the customer know. Food is ok but on the lower end compared to other Hakka spots.
The bald guy who usually takes orders is very blunt and non customer friendly. He informs even single customers or even to a couple about different rates for dine in and take out. Forces you to pay extra if you want to dine in there. Charges extra than menu rates for dine in. Not able to explain why the difference is there. I assume its a gratuity but generally its charged for bigger groups and not to small group. He doesnt provide tomato ketchup. Talks with zero gratitude. Hovers around.
The Food tasted like left overs, not fresh at all and I kept on burping very bad smell all day which never happened to me before.
Great food , great service
The place could use an update The place is busy and the food is not bad. However the servers are not very friendly and at time very rude. I would not recommend this Eating establishment. Food : 3/5
Omg! Best halal place for fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, honey garlic chicken, noodles, soup, mango salad, u name it!!
Best Hakka food and excellent service
I love this place!
Great food at reasonable prices. My regular lunch place. Treat yourself to the chicken Singapore noodles (my favorite). They have great, affordable lunch specials too!!
Food options available even for without onion and garlic. Good place for Chinese food. Food
Love the food here, however it s always the worst dine-in experience. As soon as you choose to sit down here, they make you feel like you should inhale your food as fast as possible and leave. They re always hovering and the tall bald man is always watching you while you eat. It s just so uncomfortable. It s a shame cause the food is so good! Also they put a gratuity automatically to your bill even if it s just two people. Their response is that customers are cheap but it just makes it look like they re the ones who are cheap. I recommend doing take out.
Vegetarian options: Excellent paneer Food
Food- Nothing special. Service- Rude lazy staff. Price- rip off. Go to Burrito Boyz or Spring & FreshRolls instead... Way better. Parking: Theres a parking lot in the same plaza. Kid-friendliness: Family restaurant.
This place was the place we use to enjoy our food. Yesterday we went there and ordered veggie balls, Bombay paneer and veggie soup. The lady who took the order served us non veggie soup. Luckily we found its not veggie. I even not aware what kind of meat and non veg was there in that soup. Then, she stated that It was her mistake. After mentioning multiple times veggie while placing our order she served us non veg. We were about to eat. She spoiled our supper time. We left the food as such and decided not to eat as trust issue or if veggie balls are veggie????? we went to counter she asked us to pay even we did not eat because of her mistake. No values, no ettiquettes, no morale. Such a ridiculous place it is. The bill was $45. Can you believe, we paid for her mistake. And we were in dilemma if we eat the non vegggg. Decided not to go to this place ever. Who serve non veg even placing veggie order. Ridiculous
Never order from this place
I wish i was able to give 0 stars for service. The lady working there around 3 pm is so rude. I made a phone call order for takeaway because i was working. And i asked her politely can i sit here see said NO it felt so embarrassing to ask. The fun fact is lady was eating lollipop when handing over my food to me. I ve been to hakka legend Scarborough so many times, in fact it s my always go to place. Definitely not coming back here!!
The charge gratuity automatically I always give a tip which I was just about too and saw it was already added which is fine but state it somewhere when we are paying so we are not fooled into paying a tip twice Ive been to this place before and never noticed it until today so that means last time they got a nice big tip
Very Disappointed. I ordered Manchurian Veg. Fried Rice for takeout. Instead I got veg. Fried rice without Manchurian.bad service.
At least have courtesy to provide a fork or spoon
Best onion rings ever! Vegetarian options: Onion rings have onion on it. Food : 5/5 |
Just happened to stumble upon the location. Nice environment. Great service... intention was not to have a meal so cant say much for food but the order picked up was sumptuous and tasty. Vegetarian options: Some choice in house
Have been coming here for a year now and the quality has deteriorated heavily. The Bombay chicken used to be good and now it s half burnt every time. On top of that you don t even get a lot of meat in the serving, I find half of it is just small pieces of fried batter.
I ordered through Uber eats on Thursday last week and got food poisoning from their chilli beef. The beef tasted and smelled bad and the gravy was slimy. It was terrible and just a spoon of it was enough to make me unwell. We also ordered chilli chicken which was disappointing. The schezwan fried rice was the only dish that tasted good. Please get better chefs and improve the quality of your food.
food is good but these guys are so lazy and they never listen. worst ever pick up system in the world. legit ordered 2 fries rice and prawn, chilli chicken and chili beef. they gave us an extra fried rice instead of the chilli chicken. idk if they drunk during closing or not but it definitely pissed me off
Food is mediocre. Cheap oil and meat is hard. On top of it they are charging automatic gratituity.
Why is service charges added on bill withouta notice anywhere on the menu card? We ended up paying extra service charges/tip as we trusted the billing was fair.. but it was not.
Food and customer service is consistently good at Warden location.
Very bad quality of food and nonprofessional staff
Been to many places in canada for Chinese food (Indo-Chinese). This is the first place where I loved it. Also, taste is almost the same as the one you eat in India. Although they charge gratuity on the bill they want. No specific percentage. I been there twice and charged different % of gratuity. Update: This place charges gratuity on every dine in order. Service is not extravagant to have by default gratuity. I have stopped going to this place given that better options available. Also, management has one level up attitude.
Very bad food fried rice waste of money Ordered through Uber eats stones in the rice not cooked shrimps 30% waste
Really popular and really good Hakka
Excellent taste combined with friendly service! Definitely worth a visit if you like your dish with a little fire - awesome and deliciously hot! Good clean dining area and great location in Scarborough.
Really disappointed with the service here. I ordered the lunch special with Uber since 2:05 and I didn t receive it until 3:20. The sweet and sour chicken, veggie roll and fried rice were completely cold! No sauces in the bag (soy or hot sauces etc.) Will not order again.
I recently dined at this Hakka Legend. Noticed an additional 15% gratuity. This is little upsetting, because they already increased rates in all the items. Now on top if you add tip then you are end up paying 15%+(10 or 15 or 20 etc) % extra. This is highly disappointing. I will think twice before dine-in next time in Hakka.
Food not flavourful, over priced.
Food in comparison with there ellesmere location is very average Need to work a lot Keep it up guys Food : 3/5
Good
I recently dined at this Hakka Legend and had a highly disappointing experience. The food was mediocre at best. To make matters worse, they automatically charged a gratuity on the bill, which is not mentioned anywhere on the menu. When I proceeded to pay, the payment terminal still prompted me to add a tip. Upon questioning the manager, I was told they impose the automatic gratuity because, in his words, customers are cheap. When I pointed out that this practice is unethical, he dismissively said, Its your money and you can choose to eat elsewhere. Additionally, the bathroom was filthy. The urinal was leaking and emitted a horrible smell, making the entire experience even more unpleasant. This attitude and lack of cleanliness are unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. I will not be returning and suggest others avoid this place as well. There are much better options with more transparent and respectful service.
Good place. Calamari was terrible. Besides that everything else was good.
The food is good always.
It s been one of my favourite place to eat it since I first went there in 2013. Since then I have been regular and still continue to love their food!
I had made 16 orders at 1 time for pick up and I was surprised none of the box had a label of what the food is! I basically had to open up all boxes and guess yes guess what s inside to give to my people!! Very bad experience and so inconvenience !!
Food is below average. Service is worst.
I asked for one dish and they brought me 2 and made me pay double the price. Not nice , I think they just look at you as $ sign here not a customer. When I told the manager he said she doesn t speak good English next time tell me. I think they need to improve their system. Up selling people by confusing them is not ethical and right, especially in the food business.
Very good indo Chinese style food. Must try schezwan chicken . Although we went late the people received us nicely and made tasty food.
We have visited this place many times since 2021 and have easily spent more than $1000 but will not be going back anymore. They always change their timings. We have driven from Etobicoke to Scarborough based on Google Maps timing and they closed early because there werent enough guests. When we dined in last time, they decided to close early and started cleaning while we were eating our food, and all we could smell was mop water. They were rushing us out and took our plates as soon as we finished and gave us a bill with mandatory 15% gratuity for dine in even for 2 people. When we asked the server why there was a mandatory gratuity, he argued that this is common practice and then showed me that it was written on the menu in extremely small font in the corner. He then said that Sir, I also go out to eat, and many restaurants do this. You dont even see mandatory tips at high end restaurants in Toronto for two people. We will not be going back.
This place used to be good, but has completely gone down hill since covid, the food has gotten awful and sometimes even comes out uncooked, Ill give them a chance time to time only to remember why i stopped going in the first place, and a couple days ago was the last straw. Ordered their lunch special and was given uncooked noodles burried under the cooked noodle. I dont write reviews but i legitmately felt like i needed to here. Want a decent experience? dine in and hope they take their time because your dining in. Dont take out food, its bad.
Good food . Veg balls and panneer gravys are very good.
worst service ever and there was gratuity for 2 people????
All Im going to say here is everything we ate here and we go very often was AMAZINGGGGG never disappointed with anything here service is great staff is friendly prices are great ...thank you
Mango chicken with veg fried rice is fire
Great food, even better service. Very friendly and helpful! Wide variety of dishes! Our food was delicious. Was a little busy. Lots of families with children, but it was still a pleasant experience!
Its been awhile since Ive been back but today was different this was the best Ive ever tasted from them not to say that previous experiences were not good but today they tasted really good. I will be back soon
Everything was awful and just look at the colour of the bottle.
One of my best Hakka place to enjoy Hakka style food.
We were group of 4. Food was okay. We ordered chicken Manchurian fried rice. When we received the order it was plain. When we asked the server, he mentioned that the sauce is Manchurian. I did not experience this in any other Chinese restaurant. Also, when we received our bill, there was direct charge for 5% gratuity.
This restaurant is great to enjoy flavourful Hakka Chinese food. The taste is authentic, portions are big and the service is excellent. This is one of 3 locations and has not disappointed once. A variety of lunch specials, each one delicious. Notable dishes are - Chilli Chicken, Mango Chicken, Szechuan chicken, Hakka Noodles , Hot & Sour soup, fried rice to name a few !! Vegetarian options: The menu has a wide selection of vegetarian dishes
Best location in my opinion.
Great atmosphere with nice service, menu and food they can do a lot better.
Was my first time at Hakka Legend! Ordered egg fried rice and chilli beef. Portion was good and quickly served. Chilli beef tasted good. Egg fried rice didnt have much of egg and taste was okay. So, overall 3 star for food. One extra star for the service. When I asked for boxes for my left over the waitress was very kind and even packed my food. Other staff were nice and courteous too.
Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts! My quintessential hakka meal involves some classic chili chicken, which are battered and deep fried so that can absorb that fragrant chilli sauce. With a side of white rice and a veggie spring roll, this make for a satisfying meal. The batter soaks up the sweet and savory sauce nicely, and rice is cooked well.
The quality and quantity both are compromised and they raise the prices. No one talk properly at the restaurant. Never coming again.
A very nice place to have some great asian cuisines. I really liked the place and its atmosphere. Food are great and service is quite quick. Food
DO NOT EAT THIS LOCATION. ORDERED CHILI PANEER AND ALL OF THE PANEER HAD MOLD AND WAS GONE BAD. I CALLED THE RESTAURANT AND THEY DID NOTHING. AVOID THIS PLACE
Food is meh, service is meh, and they automatically charge 18% gratuity on the bill. Even worse when you pay, they don t tell you gratuity is included so you may end up double tipping (like us).
Great service affordable food
WORST FOOD EVER !! We ordered Noodles and Manchurian, they were over cooked and tasteless, wasted 40$
I ordered Noodles and vegetable Manchurian and a pack of spring rolls . The noodles were pretty much tasteless , just soy sauce . The vegetable Manchurian was kind of sweet and it is supposed to be mild spicy and spring rolls were the worst. Very little filing and deeply fried . Not authentic food like it should be
Food tastes good. Won t disappoint.
I bought lollipop chicken 16.94 including tax. It s a 100% scam . They are scamming people. It was 30% bone , 50% crispy crust and 20% meat. It looks big size but please don t be fool because everything is crust only. You get nothing for the price
I ordered orange chicken which was Fuego . Absolutely recommend and the Manchurian Soup.
1 star for worst customer service. By short haired waitress. Im giving 1 star because there was no option to give 0. 1) when I asked one of the waiters the estimated time for food, one of them replied 7 mins and then they both started laughing on us. 2)Worst customer service! The short haired waitress (or who knows if she was the owner) was arrogant and sounded really angry when we asked questions while ordering stuff. I asked her difference between manchurian sauce and schezwan sauce and for some reason I could not undertand it and asked her politely if she could explain a little and she was super offended and said i have already told u that before 3) there was hardly any chicken in hakka chowmein. Literally 1 outta 7 bites had chicken in it, rest were just noodles. 4) when I complained about less chicken the short haired waitress got offended and with raised eyebrows and angry face told me that all restaurants serve the same quantity. Never gonna go back to this branch!
im actually upset i have no choice but to put one star..it doesnt even deserve that...what happened to this place?..it used to be good...i just wasted 34 dollars on TERRIBLE quality food...whoever makes it now should be ashamed to serve that..disgusting and i DO NOT recommend
My brother and I ordered food from here one time and he asked them if they sell Hakka traditional sweet noodles. He said the chef is not here that can make it but he said he could, horrible he doesn t know about Hakka sweet noodles. Just say you don t have it. The chilli chicken was ok still have not been to a place where the chilli chicken is great.
Just so you have an idea, we come here all the way from downtown Toronto. This place is really good and the prices are even better! It s totally recommended and you should try it once!
Very nice place to dine In and food is very tasty. We usually go to this restaurant to Dine. The only issue is if you are going near to the closing time, they start mopping right there even if the customer are still eating and the chemical smell really irritates.
Must try Bombay Chicken
The food is just average and service is below average. Agreed with other reviewers that percent of gratitude charges are not in sync with the service. There are many Hakka Chinese restaurants around and this one is not on the A-list.
We love this place. Amazing service, taste and affordable.
The Meat here has a NASTY SOUR SMELL , LIKE CHEESY FEET . BARF ! Something skethy about management and staff and how defensive they get at the sound of dissatisfaction. Cant imagine anyone jn the right mind eating here .. HONEST REVIEW FREDERICKS IS WHERE ITS AT ... BIG REGRET HERE NEVER AGAIN .
The service is really bad and the staff is extremely rude. The hot and sour soup smelled and wheni brought it up nicely to the server he said that this is how our soup is and we can order something else and when we were ordering something else he said be careful because i am not going to keep taking it back. I never mentioned changing the soup or taking it back. I was just giving them feedback and they didnt even let me complete. Very bad servoce.
First time dining in this restaurant in years. Food portions are at least 35% smaller. The quality of food is 50% worse and the service is about the same. There server literally tried to clear our plates while we were still eating at least 3 times. My mother had to have an awkward exchange for her to get the memo. This Hakka chain had a great reputation at one point, I dont know what happened.
Picked up takeout from this location and the food was fantastic. Quantity and taste were both great. The Markham and Ellesmere location tends to be hit or miss, but each time we ve been to this location, it has been fantastic.
Food was ok. I like Chinese food and their food was quite good but after coming home we had some stomach pain. I guess it didn t suit us. But I saw many people are enjoying their food, so it s a good place for Chinese food I believe.
The people here dont know how to talk. Very rude staff
It s yummy better than Frederic.
First review: Tried their Thai Rice and Mongolian Chicken. They were okay but not spicy even though we asked for extra spicy. Tasted little salty. Quantity was good and restaurant seating arrangement was great for parties. Staffs were friendly. We would again come back to try their other items. 3/5 Second review: We tried chilli chicken on wok fried noodles. We didn t like it and would not recommend this item. The bombay spicy chicken was good though. Quantity was good. Wasn t that spicey. 3/5 Third review: Triend the manchurian noodles. A bit oily, wasn t too spicey but tasted okay. Also tried the Chilli Chicken dry and it was good, but not too spicey. Overall not bad. 4/5 Fourth review: We tried the General Tao chicken (4/5) and the Singaporean Fried Rice woth Chicken and Shrimp (4/5). Quantity and quality were pretty good. But not spicy enough even though we asked for it. But overall it was great. (4/5) Be mindful of the 10% gratuity charge they add in the end.
Pretty decent spot
WARNING Food Is Not Fresh Here . Meat Always have Nasty Sour Smell / Taste. Customer Service is Very Bad if you report any issues. Was previously Shut Down by food Inspection Agency now reopen again .
Brilliant delicious and amazing portions and wonderful service, will return Again and Again
Have been coming here over 8 years. Consistently the only thing that is very good is their lunch specials. I get the bombay chicken on egg fried rice. Service here is terrible. If you arent coming for the lunch special, pick a different spot.
I liked everything, food, atmosphere and service and even tea. But one main disadvantage is the water, not filtered and in a plastic decanter and plastic glasses. In general, I recommend!
Its typical hakka cuisine & taste was fine too.
Hi, I am a food lover, and I went to many restaurant all over the world. Tonight I went with my family Hakka legend restaurant the waiters was so rude they didn t take my order properly. They messed up with order and when they find out it s their fault they attacked my bills $16 service charges! Because they said they are promoting their mistake which I order beef sizzling, but they mistakenly gave us chicken sizzling. And I went to this restaurant before but this time so clever . I don t recommend anyone to go there anymore.. thank you. Awful experience front of my family.
Food overall was good but soup could be a lot better,The customer service on other hand was very great,Would visit again.
If your dog is hungry bring him here
At first glance this restaurant looks very appealing and clean. Went here with some friends our food arrived quick. The food was mid, you get what you pay for. The customer service we received was one of the worst customer service I ve gotten in the last 3 years. The waiter was extremely standoffish as he was more irritated serving us or attending to our needs. Staff can be seen arguing or yelling at each-other in their language. Usually I don t ask for much at a restaurant but the staff here just wants your money they don t care about anything else. We had to flag down our servers multiple times to ask for napkins, water, the bill etc. no one once checked up on us to see how we are doing. Once we got our bill I noticed the server hiding the receipt only to find out he had charged us wrong! Will not be coming here again..
I bought Manchow soup and spicy pepper chicken. In the website it says spicy and hakka made. There was nothing hakka about these dishes and they tasted terrible and extremely price-y from other places that actually tastes better and hakka. Please dont make false advertising. I will not recommend and I will never order from here again. I wasted 50 bucks!
Food was okay, but their quality dropped our time. But the service was very poor, attitude towards customer was pathetic. They wont let us keep menu. Food
The chicken was still cold. The customer service is very poor here. They really made me feel uncomfortable not going back!!! They are not considerate of seniors and children always watching.
I got food poisoning after eating from here. Would not recommend. Food was super greasy and lacked flavor too.
Solid spot for Hakka cuisine. I compared their Bombay Chicken, Chilli Chicken, and General Too Chicken, and the Bombay takes the cake. You might want to get this with a fried rice dish though, as its a dry type of chicken, so there is nothing to absorb if on steamed rice. Fair prices here too. And 10% discount for cash payment.
Worst customer service ever. Staff dont have manners to talk with the customer. Cant have table of your choice even if its available.
Poor customer service and worst food.
Worst customer service ever in whole canada ! I would consider not to give 1 star !! People are so worst there ! Have no sense what they are talking about! Customer is garbage for them ! Food is disgusting and no taste at all !! Service is pathetic and so does food !
The food is tasty, ONLY negative, please mark down if your dishes are Dry or Wet....and make Gravy available on the side as an option.
Worst service ever. The food was disgusting and they dont know how to respect customers. Id rather starve than eat anything from here
Liked the food and customer service.
The food was good but the best one I would recommend is the chicken Bombay!, this was was excellent
dead bee on plate
i came to eat with my friends and there was a bee on our plate
I ve been to most places and I ve never had to PAY A 15% GRATUITY TIP that s absurd like what??? I ve been to other Hakkas and I ve never had to pay this fee before.
found a bee on my plate, service fee is too expensive for that food.
first of all we weren t even notified of a gratuity fee which is 15% and we ordered literally two items both under 15 AND OUR TOTAL CAME OUT TO ALMOST $40! that is absolutely outrageous i will never be coming back here again and on top of that there was a bee found in my friends plate.
such a good place for flavourful indian kinda chinese hakka completely worth the price and very polite staff, kudos guys!
Asked for just chicken noodles...they gave beef and shrimp...need to garbage food..waste of money
This is a Hakka place, we tried diff lunch specials. Bombay chicken is good option. Quick service.
Its not a bad Hakka place, the only thing that was bad was the chicken pakoras. Not only were they overcooked but they were also filled with too much Besan, which made it taste weird. But everything else was pretty good. I dont recommend getting the chicken pakoras if you come here though.
New fam favourite!
My first time having Hakka food was here! The food is pretty greasy but the flavour and spice is there. Portions were average, but considering how heavy it was, size was not bad. We got 4 dishes for 4 people, and had leftovers. Servers were very fast and didnt really pay us much attention. A good place to dine casually with family and friends! Washrooms are downstairs near the entrance.
I like their chili chicken and hakka nodle. The staff is respectful.
Ordered Hakka Noodles and Red Curry Chicken lunch special, both were great! Service was prompt. However, the staff isnt very friendly. If you can see past that, food is worth it.
Good food. Bit expensive compared to others
Good consistency and taste. Service is quick and on point. Portions are a little small compared to other places for the price.
Charles and Megan are the STARS here. Fanstastic customer service. Food was delicious and fresh. Can recommend to anyone looking for authentic hakka food. Price is very reasonable and tons of parking available.
Another scam filler in Scarbourogh area. Very poor quality and wonder why they serve such tasteless food. Basically burnt and reused oil smell. Not recommended at all, good for people who doesn t know the taste of Hakka,
There food prices increase food quality and taste is not the same and on top of that they include gratuity, my question is when anyone going to restaurants for dine in it s upto them what they want to pay maybe more or less you can t force.
Bad food quality and bad service
Great tasting, authentic Asian meals! Affordable prices.
Food is always great, funny stuff will recommend food thats popular.
Love this place great quality
The quality of the food was very bad. We ordered Veg Hakka noodles, Veg Manchurian dry balls and Manchurian Fried rice. Veg hakka noodles was too much oily. Manchurian dry balls were very deep fried. It was more like burnt one. Veg fried rice was not properly cooked and it was very oily too. We were not satisfied with the food and at the time of payment, they added 15% gratuity which is not fair for 4 person for dine in. I strongly recommend not to visit this restaurant. Look for some other Hakka restaurants.
I ordered bombay style dry appetizer and on very first bite i got the egg shell and that was freaking large peice of egg shell they 19$ this is what they made and noodles no taste at all Worst hakka place Please guys think before you order its expensive and definitely not worth it
The owner or manager try to force people his food. He said his food is good thats not true its not authentic like before. I go there since 1997 when used to own other people or name. It was very good. His menu expensive and mixed not Asian. Probably they dont have professional cook. Its you tube cooking. He stand near table to finish it quickly. Just you are hungry need food go there looking for eat and quality time dont go. Kid-friendliness: Washroom in the basement and dirty. I had fried rice, wonton, chicken, beef , soups Paid 125$.
I regularly, almost daily order the same meal and ask for it extra saucy. I Oder it through Uber Eats. Today the food taste was off and soft and chewy. Seems old or yesterday food. Very disappointing and it wasn t saucy at all.
Ordered delivery of black bean fish, shrimp curry, chili chicken, amongst other items. Food was heavily battered, and fish and meat did not seem fresh. Flavour was not bad, but I certainly do not recommend this place.
I ordered veggie hakka noodles through skip the dishes. I received the package - no cutlery, no sauces, I specifically chose veggie noodles because I don t eat any kind of meat/non veg. The moment I opened the box of noodles, it was the worst - meaty smell. I couldn t even have that box in my room. I couldn t eat a single bite. I complained to Skip The Dishes. They didn t care. Their customer service is terrible too. They couldn t get me a replacement food box from Hakka legend. And I am shocked how can Hakka Legend cooked veggie noodles in the meat wok. I wasted my $22. Vegetarian options: Worst place for vegetarian people
Ive been eating at this restaurant for over 6 years. Their food used to be soo amazing but Ive noticed a major dip in quality and taste this past year. Not sure if its a change in management or the chef but its not the same. The Bombay chicken is not the same. The food tastes stale overly salty. Its disappointing really, especially when you take into consideration the prices per dish. :(
I have ordered food many times over the years from this location. I ordered the dry chili calamari, the Manchurian noodles, the chili chicken, the deep-fried white meat chicken, and the spring rolls were our go-to. I no longer eat animal products, so I havent been back. I do miss the dry chili calamari. It was spicy, not rubbery, but it could be a little more tender, and it was tasty. My husband liked the deep-fried white chicken breast, but I never did, I found it tasteless and dry. The dry chili chicken was a favorite as it was spicy and flavourful but was also a little dry. The Manchurian noodles dish was a huge portion and full of spice, flavour, and heat. But my absolute favorite was the spicy eggplant. Loaded with perfectly cooked, tender eggplant with a nice heat and spice to it. Its really, really good!
I was went last week and I will ask manager can you please show me a halal certificate. He is very rude with me . The staff service is very rudely like a boss. He selling wine and he say we have halal food. Its amazing.
I am a big fan of their bombay chicken dry. The flavours and texture are just wow. However, the fried rice usually has a burnt taste which might not be for everyone. Also the fried rice was a bit too oily. The chicken soup was soothing in chilly weather. The place is a bit small and very crowded but the service is fast. The staffs are professional. The place is also clean.
I have been coming to Hakka Legend for the last 3 years and only had one complaint, which was the manager was super rude. I never complained because I loved the food so much and always kept going back but the guy (maybe the manager) with the glasses is extremely rude. The same guy. My order was extremely OILY and I complained to which he simply denied and I told him to throw away my food. Below is the photo of LITERALLY ONE VEGGIE BALL squished onto a tissue paper and I feel very sick after eating it. NEVER GOING BACK AND YOU SHOULD NEVER COME HERE.
I ordered Uber eats and it was such a disappointment!!! The deep fried calamari was stale and old food was not fresh don t order here!
Great staff and service. Food is good as well. A must go. Also, it is Halal.
the food i ordered was good but the server and the service can definitely be improved Parking: easy to get parking
Had a lovely lunch. Lots of meat and vegetarian option. We opted for spicy and the dishes did not disappoint!
Imagine buying food and then being told to leave. Never again.
Food is good as always. They have maintained their prices.
My favourite dish - Green Curry Beef, will come back again. Affordable price and good service!!
The food was amazing, however I was very disappointed to see that they tipped themselves on the receipt without telling us after I already tipped them. They should to inform customers of automatic gratuity.
Worst customer service ever. We used to go there all the time but tonight when I visited there with my mom and ordered Fried Hakka Paneer rice and Manchurian vegetable balls, fried rice were so burnt that you could smell and taste the burnt ones, machurian were so hard like a rock. We complained to the server, not sure if he was the owner of the place. He brought it back and ask me to show where is the burnt one, and after explaining he brought another one which were also burnt, we never touched it. Server was basically yelling at us for ordering the fried rice and said it comes without egg and will taste like this. He asked us to leave and told us to never come back there. Never apologized for this thing and instead showing such a bad attitude. This was the worst customer service that I experienced in Canada. Guys if you wanna get humiliated and waste your money, only then go to this place.
Great food
Worst Hakka ever. I work nearby this restaurant so thought of giving it a try. We ordered Hakka chicken noodles, which is an absolute joke. We asked it spicy but they gave us bland, oily, fat noodles and not even salted properly. Noodles were literally cooked in nasty used oil, which I can literally smell and feel in my throat after coming home.
DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE. Tipping culture going crazy in Toronto. Two people ordered two dishes and was charged gratuity? Service was ok, food very average 6/10, very plain and 0 presentation. I don t know why I paid $2.50 for a tiny bowl of rice and am forced to pay gratuity.
Good food
Very bad experience food is not at all fresh and they just throwed deep fried chicken and telling its a Bombay chicken without any sauces tossed and chicken is so hard. If we ask for a reason why it is like that even they didnt regret to say sorry for the food what they served and the price they charged just for fried rice and chicken 35 plus which is worthless to visit.
This restaurant is way overpriced. But heres the kicker, the food is really good! I order and close my eyes when I go to pay. String beans and fried rice is 35$. The string beans are not the same portion for every order. So ask yourself how bad do you want it and consider how many ppl need to eat from that portion before ordering. The service is friendly but not consistent.
Good food but the cashier was very rude
Good food but the quantities are smaller than other Hakka restaurants. Dietary restrictions: Halal Food : 4/5 |
I ordered lunch special Shrimp ma po tofu for take out. It was like a soup with a big portion of rice, a little bit spicy, but flavorful. The portion was good for lunch and dinner, so around $6 per meal! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have an affordable and delcious meal.
The waitress are extremely kind and understanding and if you ask them for opinions they give you the best recommended one. Price wise is reasonable and they are not the type of franchised restaurant that would not want returning customers.
A Well-Rounded Dining Experience at Haka Legend Asian Cuisine Rating: I recently had the pleasure of dining at Haka Legend Asian Cuisine, and my overall experience was quite positive. The restaurants atmosphere struck a delightful balance between modern aesthetics and a cozy ambiance. The warm lighting and tasteful decor created a welcoming environment that added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. The standout feature for me was the attentive and friendly service. The staff at Haka Legend were prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable about the menu. Their recommendations and willingness to accommodate special requests significantly enhanced the dining experience. Now, turning to the food, while it was generally good, I found some dishes lacked a bit of the bold flavors I expected from Asian cuisine. The variety on the menu was impressive, but a few dishes could benefit from a more robust seasoning to truly stand out. In terms of specific dishes, the **Chilli Chicken** was a highlight with its spicy kick and flavorful blend of ingredients. However, the **Mandarin Chicken** fell slightly short of expectations, lacking the depth of taste I anticipated. Despite these minor culinary nuances, the overall experience at Haka Legend Asian Cuisine was positive. The inviting atmosphere and exceptional service played a crucial role in elevating the dining experience. I would recommend Haka Legend to those seeking a pleasant environment and attentive service, with the hope that the culinary offerings continue to evolve for an even more satisfying experience in the future. Hence, I rate it 4 out of 5 stars. Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating Parking: Lots of parking in both parking lots. Free Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly
Quick service nice and hot meals. Staff are very friendly. The reception guy is so welcoming. Of course food always tastes delicious
Had a worst exeperience with food. The food was half burnt. The customer service is extremely poor. The manager at the counter is so egoistic that when ai made the complaint about the food he started yelling. The worst restaurant in Scarborough. Ratings in minus for this restaurant as well as the guy on the counter who seems to be a manager doesn t even know how to deal with the customers. Pathetic food with egoistic and yelling attitude. This place is a crap No refund and no replacement of food as well. Wastage of time, money, better to go to another restaurant.
Best pakoras around. Chili chicken needs work though. Will probably try other dishes
Nice food
Good food, quick service and plenty of available parking. Edit: ordered takeout and the young guy at the counter was extremely rude/arrogant in his demeanour.
Best hakka Chinese halal food. Be it the appetizers or soup or main course every meal is delicious and worth the money. Whenever in that area I do visit this place . My personal favorites are chicken Manchurian soup, hot and sour soup, lollipop chicken, calamari, Manchurian noodles, chilli chicken, schezwan noodles.
A decent place for Indian-Chinese. Big portions at a good rate.
Great
Not a good place to dine in. Will never visit this place.
Excellent Hakka food! One of Scarboroughs best places for Sino-Indian cuisine
Honestly disappointed with the staff and half cooked/raw thai soup, it was taste less just like colored warm water. The owner/manager has no interest and patience in listening customers complain but forcing customers to accept as is. I was surprised when the owner/manager said we dont know how thai soup tastes like. Over all disappointment and I wouldnt recommend this place.
Rather then playing on the phone listen to order carefully and have some courtesy to speak with customer. 1 star is gift from google.
