3rd and last time. Got sick again from eating here.

Today I went to have dinner. Since today in Toronto it starts the tax free from the Federal Government. But, in this restaurant they changed the tax by service charge of 13%. When, they never charge it before. So bad that they do that.

They dont open on time!!

I ordered beef chili it was the worst one I ever ate in any chinese restaurant. It wasnt cooked, no salt. Really bad taste. I needed to cook it myself. I ordered the food around 9:23pm on Nov 28

I ordered lemon chicken, they gave me Bombay chicken. I wasnt aware until I took the food home. I called and they said I can drive back to get lemon chicken. Why should I have to drive back to correct their mistake!? Traffic in the area is horrible. They did not offer to deliver the correct food or refund the ~$16. Thats bad service, it was THEIR mistake. Unacceptable service. I will never return and will let others know to stop going as well.

This resturant doesn t want the uber delivery guy to use there washroom.

They sell halal while they either don t have or don t want to show the certificate. The person was taking the order was rude and just ignored to answer by saying I m not the owner and I don t have a certificate to show.

Excellent Chinese food

There was a different price if you are eating in as apposed to take out .. was never told this and the lady behind the counter demanded I pay the difference in a very nasty manner .. disgusting customer service will never go back there and never recommend anyone to go there .. lost a customer

Today by 6:08pm I had a Worst ever over-the-phone order experience. The lady who attended the call was extremely rude to the question. She was unable to understand what my questian was, and on top, she kept on behaving aggressively in a sharp high pitch. Every time I try to make her understand but she told me to talk to DoorDash not her as she cant help each on top she hung the phone on me.

Food was good but i m rating it only 2 stars as we got food poisoning for almost 1 week back in May. Me & my husband had really bad food poisoning. I was in the hospital for a few deys due to having a fever while pregnant. I reported them to the Toronto Public health & they admitted to them what was given to us was left out at room temperature.

hi guys , today i went an ordered a chili chicken fried rice and paid $19 and in return they gave me cold and stolen chicken which was very badly tasting and also smelling badly. and when i asked the waiter about it they said this chicken was fried at 1pm in the afternoon and refried it again at 10pm which turned out to be a disaster. please guys dont go there and waste your money , instead eat at other outlets which are present, they have much better options which some quality food .YEs THIS IS SURELY HAKKA NO.1 IN BAD Category.

I just went there and bought $17 manchurians and they just provided raw cauliflower which didn t tastes good at all.Just tasting like you are eating raw cauliflower in gravy.Never had this bad experience.

I m giving 1 star only due to the lady that took our order at the counter. Very rude very arrogant does not respond to any questions calmly. Worst ever person I ve met at a restaurant. We asked a question as simple as will the gravy be spicy? She responded saying you should know what your ordered I don t know, and when asked if she can check with the chef, she responded saying I cannot.

First and last time. Staff are rude. Food is not that great. At least not the Bombay lunch special.

This place is literally so bad, the women who took the order is so rude. The food is burnt and taste not good either. When I talk to the women even tho that s their problem, they never say sorry or anything that makes customers feel better. Don t come here.

Had takeout. Got their individual combo (chili fish with fried rice). Fish was fresh and the taste was really nice. For the price I paid $17 tax in it was worth it

Great staff and tasty food!

I am not sure if the service is just bad in general or if it is because we are Black and the only Black people who walked into the establishment. My son and I visited today and we waited to be seated. We finally got seated and got the menu. We watched the waitress serve everyone, including the Uber Eats carriers. Then she wandered around behind the counter, ignoring us. She watched every other table (just 3 other groups) eating and ignored us. After 15 minutes of waiting, we walked out. She didnt even notice. I am never going back there. I will not recommend.

One of the better comfort food/junk food spot in the area. Only two complaints I have is no fortune cookies, and they are a little pricey. The dipping that come with pakoras are to die for but never enough and they charge 3 dollars for extra. Chilli chicken with grave is heavenly and taste like white meat/chicken breast to me. A lot of breading tho. I have a silently above average spice tolerance. Their extra spicy is never spicy enough for me. Keep in mind they have a 30 percent discount from 2pm to 5 pm on Ubereat. Their food stays pretty solid when you reheat with microwave except the fried appetizers. They get soggy, and depressing unless you reheat them with a pan or the oven. Air-fryer would probably be good too. Their portion size are pretty good but nothing to write home about considering their price.

This is not a matter of taste. This place is straight up garbage. Woman at the front has the worst customer service Ive ever seen, and I dont even care about customer service. This food was hot but tasted like literally nothing. It was so bland that I thought I had COVID because I couldnt taste anything on the plate. It tasted like 1:30 seconds in a microwave. Zero flavour anywhere on the plate from the noodles to the chicken. do not ever go here. at least the restaurant was clean. and empty.

We just did take-out and came home to feed the family. The worst Hakka experience so far. Steam rice and noodles exteremly dry and not cooked properly. Size of the portions are too small for price. We hardly saw a few piece of meat (chicken and shrimp) in our noodles. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I will call tomorrow, hopefully they can give pur money back!

When the service is terrible at any restaurant the whole experience is terrible. The Chinese woman that works the counter,takes orders and serves the dining area has a real attitude. She got our order wrong and reluctantly she took it back and corrected the food but she looked like she wanted to tear me a new one the whole time. We ate quickly and left. **Be aware** there is a 10% gratuity already added to the bill of any dine-in orders when you are deciding to leave any extra tip... we certainly did not leave a tip for the service, shes lucky it was included in the bill or she wouldnt have gotten anything otherwise. The food is great and fresh [atleast what we had that day].... we had the Singapore rice noodles , Guyanese style chicken dinner and curry spring rolls I wont go back for dine in or take out, not worth the hassle when theres better eateries near by ;)

Terrible customer service. Their service is so bad it acts as border line abuse. Please don t slam the phone down on people who speak English if you don t understand, simply hire some who understands English and can take English orders.

Friendly staff, good food!

I placed an order for take out. The chinese lady on phone was not getting the order correctly. I had to make sure that i am getting my vegetarian order correctly and not getting chicken instead. She got so upset and rude when i asked for dine-in. Could have refused politely. Absolutely no manners. Every staff member is angry and impatient. They don t know how to value customers.

They made it spicy eventhough i gave instruction in uber eats to make it mild. And when i called them the stupid lady was not even listening to me and told me to call uber. You prepared the food stupid, not uber, learn english first to understand what customer is saying. It was for my boys and they couldnt eat it. Such a waste!

Since when are Singapore noodles manchurian?? Why not advertise your Singapore noodles as spicy on the doordash app? These were not edible and I was very hungry. Inaccurate detailing on your menu is unprofessional, especially for the amount we paid. Ridiculous. Do not eat here, they only care about money.

One of the staff there are horrendous. Had one woman ignore my presence after taking my order, so i had to reorder to with someone else. Made it to go so i waited and they once again acted like they forgot about me even though i was sitting immediately in front of their register. Besides being treated like an after-thought, the lunch special container is two thirds steamed rice. No plum sauce for the spring roll. The chef can cook cuz everything tasted great, but the way that place is managed is a joke. Its a shame really. I love hakka and recently moved to the area but i will never go back. All the poor reviews are true.

Ordered from Uber Eats. Item was made and arrived much earlier than noted, which was great, and we got a 30% off deal for ordering mid-day. We had the appetizer spicy shrimp (mmmm) which is a big portion of breaded and deep fried shrimp with spicy red, green peppers and onions. I ordered spicy, which adds a little kick for spice-lovers, but extra-spicy will be my choice next time. Also got an order of chicken balls, which were plentiful and yummy. Big portions, quick service.

Great food and good service Usually do take out, but have dined in once or twice. Orders are and have always been accurate. Food is always good. Customer service is very to the point / cold. Worst Restaurant experience.. The lady taking order believes that she is working for TVA as in Loki Series .. The first Impression while entering , she is annoyed of the fact that we are there to eat and give our money for their food .. We order a Veg and a non Veg dish and as we eat Hakka Chinese regularly and we like the food spicy(chili hot ) ....She said 50 cents more if spicy is needed and we said that is ok please make it extra spicy ... Then the food came it was not spicy nor tasty ...While she came with the bill, I said the food was not spicy at all as I had asked for it and she pointed out that spices are in the table (some hot sauce ,Soya sauce ,Chili Vinegar ) you can make your own ..I said if that was the case why would I request you to make it Spicy ..she was annoyed and walked away !! I am not sure if she is the owner but if there is a real owner who cares , eating out these days is very expensive and with this kind of an experience will pull you down soon ..I rarely write reviews but this kind of restaurant experience will make your write a review ..

Chicken pakora too much dough not tasted well

The Chinese Lady who took the order is extremely rude and arrogant. The previous bad reviews provided are actually true. The oil used for Chicken pakoras is very bad quality. No taste at all. I would absolutely not recommend this place for dine in. Note: the previous owners were really good. But with the change of ownership. All has fallen apart. Sorry for myself for going through such a bad experience.

Food tastes all the same, the lady at the cash is really rude, she ll make you wait in line until it s your turn then go to serve some tables, 0/0 would not recommended, the only saving grace of this place is the decent price for their lunch menu.

I tried ordering on the phone for pick up just so I don t have to wait long when I arrived and I asked about how big does this specific dish comes at. This lady just said that I have to come to the restaurant and check the menu instead and she did not give me a chance to just say something. I was waiting for her to finish whatever she was gonna say cuz I did not want interrupt her but when she finished, I tried to just order something else but she just hung up. I have been ordering on the phone for take outs before and this is the first time this happened. I just found it rude because I ve been ordering the same thing before and I wanted to try a different dish that I didn t know about so I wanted to ask a little bit about it but she didn t give me the chance. So ye.

BE CAREFUL! A tip of 15% will already be included in your total when you get your bill (you have no choice). If you pay by debit or credit card, the machine will prompt you for a tip amount (which is another tip). You will think your total does not include the 15% tip if you havent read your bill. READ YOUR BILL. If using the machine, select NO TIP and pay. The food was good but Im giving this review 1 star. I believe that including the tip on a receipt and then asking for another tip when using the machine is a practice meant to increase revenues by 15%. Its intentionally deceptive. You decide.

I had bad experience with this place. I ordered food for the first time and there was a lady at the reception and sho took our order. We clearly told her the order and she replied the same. But when we open food and noticed that they gave us wrong order. We asked noodles but they have rice. After that I called at the restaurant and tell them The issue. Then she pick the call and said they did not make any mistake. I told them this is yours mistake to mistook order and place it. But she was completely rude and keep cutting off. Then I told her that, why not you accept your mistake then she said ok this is their fault and next time they will fix it. Well, this is not the good expression.

Bad food, take out

I was a regular customer until i ordered something and they messed it up. Brought it back and then they wanted to get angry, and started yelling. I started to let them hear my voice too because im spending my money. I requested a refund and they said no. They eventually updated the order and said i wouldnt be able to switch orders again even when it was their mistake. That is fine because that is the last time they will ever get my money, plenty more restaurants to attend to. Someone will report them soon

Food quality has dropped tremendously bad but their price went up like rocket. Even outside they advertise one price but when you go inside it s different price for lunch special. Cant find any positive things to share here. I dont mind to pay high price but there should be good service and quality of the food. Atleast we can expect that

Fried rice was really good but soup and noodles was below average.

Ordered lunch specials: chilli chicken with egg fried rice, shrimp with lobster sauce with egg fried rice. Both very salty. Couldn t have more than 2 pieces for chilli chicken because it was WAY TOO SALTY. Server offered to remake the food. But somehow after they remade the food, the chilli chicken got MORE SALTY. I had a bite and ended up leaving right after. When I complained, the lady was saying maybe I am not familiar with this type of food but I have tried numerous hakka places nearby for chilli chicken. Even my partner had a bite and couldnt eat after. Our mouth was so stingy and dry from salts afterwards. We chugged so much water on the way home. Still paid for the food but couldnt have any definitely do not recommend.

I went to the restaurant for a pick up when I was there, the person who was taking order was very rude, even after that I ordered my food and I asked for an extra steam rice, I got charged for it but they never gave me the rice, my food was not cooked properly and was full of salt, my soup as well full of salt and no taste. I called after coming home and saw the horrible food, the lady who answered the phone, completely ignored me over the phone and not even apologize for their service. I wasted my time and money, the food went straight to the garbage bin. Very bad customer service and very bad food, never ordering anything from there.

Had been for lunch for the first time to this restaurant with family. Good place for families, its halal. Food was delicious. Service was also very good. Andy was serving us, he showed up a couple of times in between to check whether everything was okay. There is good parking. The reason I give 3 stars is because there seems to be a 13% service charge after the HST has been added. And still we are not sure whether to pay tips or not. However I did pay about 10% tips that ended up as paying about 23% extra after Hst has been added. I hope the management can clarify this. There are some good dinner deals.

DELICIOUS FOOD AND AMAZING SERVICE! Thats a hard combination to find in Toronto! We went here last night as my friend broke his fast for Ramadan. We got there 10:30 and we ordered a lot of food and they close at 11pm. They were so nice to let us stay and eat another 10 or 15 mins as they all were tired and been there since morning! They didnt rush us and were soo accomodating! Great people, great service, and delicious food. GO TRY IT AND GET THE BOMBAY CHICKEN ON FRIED RICE! Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options and a lot of them too. Parking: Lots of free parking Kid-friendliness: They have nice booths for kids also to enjoy and its comfortable

I ordered first time there and seems like they serve Stale food. The Soup & Chicken pakora I ordered wasnt fresh it was like they made it two days ago. Also, Chicken Chili Gravy had no gravy at all. I wonder that I never ordered dry one. Better try another location to save your money! They would take your phone orders rudely. I didnt like customer service there either. The negative reviews are true about this Location. They wont take your phone number/name for your order, so be prepare to repeat your whole order again when you reach there to pick up! I don t usually write negative reviews, but this restaurant deserves 0 stars. The picture shows their chilli deep fried squid. As you can see it is plain. When we called to ask about this, apparently the spice is in the dough Believe me, this place has poor customer service, bland food, small portions and absolutely no flavour. We also ordered a soup which tasted like it was spoiled and chilli chicken which was soggy.

This location looks nice until you are seated and the male server comes to serve you with his terrible attitude. A customer had told him that he got his order wrong politely and the server proceeded to get upset and ending up throwing his plate of food onto counter near cashier like a child. No customer especially someone who explained nicely about an issue should be put in a position where they feel uneasy or unsafe to eat in a restaurant. Super rude. I used to enjoy eating here. Because it s ok and affordable food. But after my last experience, I just had I have to leave a one star review. I had simple questions about a couple different dishes as I was interested in trying something new. But absolutely the rudest customer service I ve ever experienced in my life. Should probably think about that moving forward if you want to retain customers.

Exactly the same as the Keel St location which is extremely popular. The décor on Ellesmere is a bit fresher and newer and the server was excellent. There were 4 of us for lunch. We had spring rolls, hot and sour soup, Singapore noodles with beef, lemon chicken, spicy pepper shrimp and mango salad. These are my favorite dishes at this franchise but the menu is extensive. There is sure to be something for every palate.

Stay away!! Major attitude and zero consideration to gain customers. Save your appetite for another Hakka around. Whoever owns this place (wont be surprised if the worker are owners) should learn how to manage a business ethics. Being rude is not the way to go. Dissappointment considering its a good location.

Not impressed

Ive always gone to the location in Brampton on 2 Melanie Dr which was excellent in taste and value. I recently attended this location and was sad to learn that the pricing is different. I got the Beef and Green Beans and had to pay extra for the rice. This location charges 13% to dine in which is disappointing. Also the portion was smaller than what I am used to. Dont know if this is same across all locations. The Brampton location also included a drink and vegetable rolls which this place did not.

They get your order wrong and when you call in to get it fixed they try to blame it on you, like Id mess up to only order I ever get from you since its the only one you can make right. If you keep going just make sure to check your orders before you leave.

This place is a go to for takeaway. We ordered a Manchurian chicken and some steamed veg. As usual, food was hot, flavorful, and price was predictable. Ordered over the phone, but as always order was correct, and the tag on the bad listed the items. Food is good for the price but why is there an automatic 13% service charge on top of the tax? It seems like a huge scam bc you re asked to pay a tip again on that. Service charge, assuming it s tip, should be based on service provided and up to the client to decide if the service is worthy and how much - usually it would be a decent tip if not forced. Also service charge is standard for groups of eight, not for one or two people. This is so wrong and disappointing.

Walked into a half full restaurant and very friendly staff. 3 take-out drivers in front of me and 2 others waiting. Thought I found a great place. The szechaun beef had no taste, general Tao was not cooked and the vegetarian Masala noodles had more than 1 long black hairs. I understand mistakes happen in the food industry, but this was a lot. Despite the name, this place is NOT a Hakka restaurant. I ordered Hakka dishes and there was no spice whatsoever. They were all tasteless and lacked flavour. I was so disappointed. If you want regular Chinese food, then this place is fine, but if you want Hakka, I suggest you try somewhere else. The service was cold and unfriendly too, which I could have excused had the food been up to scratch. For those of you coming here because Lin Gardens has now closed, beware and learn from my mistake. You have been warned.

Bad food,has to be the worst hakka no 1 location.

They re food is amazing I recommend the chicken pakora, they re chicken is from al Mahdi halal meat and is hand slaughtered.

I ordered Hakka Chicken Masala and Chef decided to do a short cut. He put some Masala in container and then some dry chicken on top. It appeared two separate items dumped over each other on container instead of making the dish on a stove. Also chicken had a bitter taste which possibly means that flour used in preparing the chicken was expired.

Ordered Pad Thai from the lunch menu. Very bland pad thai, no peanut sauce or anything offered with it. The Tofu added tastes like cardboard. Disappointed in this location as Ive been to other Hakka No 1 and they have good food. Needless to say, will not be returning to this restaurant again.

The customer service is worst especially the waitress who treats the customers very badly. The restaurant should hire some friendly people to retain their brand.

Very rude behaviour and not so good food

I went there today (parkway ml location)and ordered today s special. The asian lady at the reception bungled up twice. I ordered spicy garlic fish and rice, at first she gave me chicken hakka noodles then she gave a chilly chicken- when I returned home to eat my lunch I realized what she did. It was too late. The food doesn t taste good at all, too salty. They charge $2 extra if you ask for extra spicy. The lady is very rude. I noticed she acts differently with people of colour, I called her out. I won t go back again. Also, it took a very long time to prepare my order which went to garbage anyways.

Staff is excellent, food is so juicy, fresh and hot and the service is amazing! The food is served in no time and it sure is worth it! 5 stars!!!

Order 4 different dishes, came home to find 2 identical dishes in my order. Asked for pepper sauce, waitress gave me 3 packets for 4 entres and no plum sauce for my spring rolls. Horrible customer service, go to another location!!!

Most bad costumer service by name sounds like rina. Firstly she game me wrong order second she said if you don t want to eat garbage it but its yours .

Food is good. Customer service needs to be improved. Dont be angry. Tipping is not mandatory if Im taking out food.

You re better off eating soggy shoelaces as noodles and dry cardboard in place of any meat. The most disgustingly bland, stale, and cold mix of food that has ever touched my lips. When we called them to tell them how bad it was they told us to bring it back, so we did.. only for them to throw out the food in front of us. Then offered to give it back and went into the garbage to get it. It s actually hilarious but please save your money.

I ordered online the lady couldnt find my order and was rude for no reason I showed them the order confirmation and proof of payment email etc still she said I dont know asked for a refund of my money she said to get out!

The lady seemed to get mad because I asked why when paying with credit card is more expensive. When i got home, I realized my take out food wasnt the one I ordered. Pretty bad service and bad attitude.

Food is great, the service ... when it first open was excellent, price was good....since it became busy the service has declined the prices went up they charge for everything. Some of the female servers is a bit rude. I call in to place my order, was told to hold on at least 10 mins while I hear her taking orders with someone in person....never came back on the phone... The customer service sucks really bad only with the female order takers and servers.

This restaurant has the worst customer service! The food is good but the customer service is TERRIBLE! If you decide to dine in know that they automatically charge you a 13% service fee...whether you want to tip them or not....there is a sign posted at the front so beware!

Bad costumer service the lady @ the is very grumpy, I dont recommend this place!!! I order two meal to go & I ask if if can have a vinegar she said they dont give it away I can just eat at the table & have it lool

Best food ever

Got the lunch special, chili chicken on steam rice. It was very mid, was neither displeased or satisfied, won t be coming back. Only reason I m giving 2 stars and not 1 is because the portion sizes for the price is not bad. Lunch special includes a free drink and a spring roll, so it s a bang for your buck, but not appetizing.

They use to have amazing staff until this new lady came who is extremely rude. I also think they changed their cook or started using cheap quality ingredients because the food quality is not the same as it use to be. On top of everything they started charging extra for a tiny bowl of rice and they also sneakily add gratuity/tip onto your bill and then ask for more without us even knowing. This was my go to place before but now they have ruined it by lacking in quality, hiring rude employees and charging extra. I don t recommend this place anymore. They really need to bring back everything they once had!

Prices and good are amazing

$120 skip order. 12 meals. Crispy beef a wee bit dry but . Man dat corn soup chonks of chicken and a nice kick each bite. I wanted butt bleeding but it wasnt. Heavy handed ginger flava chicken. Stir fried rice moist chonks of chicken and veg in every bite. No sauce or sauce packets provided for dry rice . Veg stir fry big beautiful pieces of broccoli shrooms carrots. The crispy veggie rolls will cover your lips in wonderful greasy goodness. I dont usually write reviews cause I just cant be bothered but I thought Id share my thoughts about this place this time around. I usually come here for the daily specials cause I think its a bang for you buck, you get a meat, steam rice, 1 spring roll and bottled water. The food is great, always taste amazing, cant complain about the price. The service though...could use some help. Theres a lady in there that just isnt very friendly, her demeanor isnt great, she doesnt seem approachable. To be honest, if the food wasnt at a reasonable price, I probably wouldnt come back. Food is great though!

Went here with my family to have dinner. There was 5 of us. Food presentation was nice and tasted great. Guyanese style chow mein and fry rice was very nice and the corn and crab soup was delicious. Price wise was not bad it was very reasonable. Parking: Typical mall parking

Food is decent not the best Hakka joint in the city and definitely not the worst. But, I hate the fact that these business add a mandatory 10-20% service charge on the bill without any notification. On top of that youre also prompted and expected to tip. This tipping culture is getting out of hand and will make me not return just because of this.

Ive been ordering from Hakka No. 1 for over a year now and they have some of the best food and customer service. They have been very accommodating to special requests/instructions and have made good, twice over, if theres any issues. Would recommend the Manchow Soup. Delicious.

My Go-to place for most of my Hakka cravings! Wonderful taste and quantity, good enough for two people. I have tried most of the things for their menu! Value for money! Thought customer service could improve. Great place to chill with family and friends! Definitely a recommendation!

Great food abd good service. Hakka special noodles very delicious. Chilli chicken was delicious. Chicken pakoras a hit. Generous portion of the delicious hot and sour soup. Only wish they would not use canned mushrooms in the soup.

Man what can I say. First time eating their fried rice and it really blew my expectations away with the flavour. 100/10 recommend going here for Hakka cuisine.

The food I ordered had burned through the styrofoam container. When I contacted them, they totally dismissed me. I asked to speak to the owner and they said that he was not there and hung up on me. I called back later and left a message but nothing came of it. I thought that would give them another chance an ordered again asking to make sure that the food was wrapped in aluminum foil or in a container if I could handle the heat after explaining what happened. The woman said that but I should then order the dinner which was in a different container. I told her that I just wanted to order the lunch and rot burned styrofoam on food is very dangerous for ones health when ingested. She was extremely rude and hung up on me saying that she was too busy and not to order.
