I am a student and very happy to experience this restaurant with new owner and keeping good quality with student affordable price, specially goat curry and samosa and French toast. Amazing how everything comes with drinks so double saving.
This is a must visit place for Hongkong cuisine. I tried the Guilin soft pork rib. It was delicious and the portion is good. They provide warm atmosphere and have friendly staffs. I will try more dishes soon.
I ordered Indian goat curry. It was delicious and was eye catching. It was full of spices and flavour. It was hot and so good in taste. Thank you for this! I will check more items and will reorder this in the near future for sure!
really lovely hk diner! i left feeling really full & the folks serving food here are very nice. i recommend if you’re looking to have a cozy meal
First time ordering here and I really wanted to like it but was disappointed. We ordered a luncheon meat sandwich but between two slices of bread, there was only 1 thin slice of meat - the picture says it all. In addition, they missed another item in my order; however, I was able to get a refund from Uber since the restaurant closed relatively early and I couldn't contact the restaurant directly. The taste of the food is just okay... nothing mind blowing but the milk tea was good and I liked that a drink came with each meal we ordered. The restaurant was empty - even at dinner time around 6pm. Service wise, the ladies working there were friendly but I just can't overlook the misstep with the food.
We got here around 2pm on a Saturday and were seated immediately. There was a steady stream of people coming in the whole time we were there, but there were always tables available. The service was a bit slow as there were only two waitresses helping out with all the tables. This is a no frills eatery. We wanted to go with a bit of variety so we ordered things that were pretty different. The Club Sandwich came with a lot of ingredients and they definitely didn’t skim out on the portions. The Baked Pork Chop over Rice was also a winner in our book. The flavor was spot on. The Saturday special was the Malaysian Chicken Curry with Spaghetti so we decided to get that. Mistake. It was a bit of a letdown as the curry was fairly watery and a little bit on the bland side. Get the Hong Kong Milk Tea. It’s legit!
The food was below average. Satay Beef Vermicelli Soup (3/5): The satay sauce did not taste like the usual satay beef flavor. Instead, it had an overpowering sha cha sauce taste. Both the beef and the sauce were insufficient. It felt like the ingredients were just thrown together without any harmony. Pickled Vegetable and Pork Vermicelli Soup (3/5): The dish had a porky smell. Milk Tea (1/5): The milk tea lacked tea flavor. Lemon Tea(4/5): The lemon tea was the only decent item. It had enough tea flavor. Additionally, the seating was uncomfortable as the sofa chairs were too low.
Nostalgic & unique HK-styled design, with some movie posters hanging around. Price is reasonable. I had the afternoon tea set, beef brisket with rice noodles and milk tea (added $1 for extra large). I would recommend the milk tea, as it tastes quite authentic. They close at 4pm so do get there early. It’s a spacious restaurant that reminds me of the good old days of my city, Hong Kong.🙂 Will definitely come again to enjoy a relaxing afternoon!
Solid food.
Yum!
The boss has changed, not the Hong Kong people. The wild food no longer has the taste of Hong Kong. The frozen lemon tea is the most unpleasant thing I have ever drunk. It tastes like water + lemon. It is not difficult to eat, but it is no longer a tea restaurant
Under new ownership... Food is not as good as previous owner. I expected same or better but was disappointed. A few original staff but may have issues communicating because there is a language barrier to over come to get your order correct... Food is far but I think its more English style rather than Chinese....
My go to breakfast spot. Very affordable and delicious.
Have you ever tried the soup base of satay beef that is still clear soup? The second time I had afternoon tea (the first time I had afternoon tea, I felt it was unpalatable. The taste was normal. Encore first) I was very disappointed with the Satay Beef Rice Noodles this time. The noodles were so bad that I couldn t even take a picture, but after I finished eating, I felt that it would be better to read a bad review, so the soup base after I finished eating turned into a clear soup. Satay for satay, beef for beef (light color without satay at all) rice noodles for rice noodles, 3 different things separately... The satay is less juicy (already called juicy) Beef tasteless, dry and old The rice noodles are all tasteless and have a little salty taste. The other toast was dry and frozen, and the butter couldn t even melt... Finally...talk about service Although Hong Kong shop assistants are very nice and polite, But the noodle itself has been waiting for 15 minutes to be served first. Waiting for the utensils for another 5 minutes A rice noodle with water... Summary$11.99 You can have other better meal options
5+++ stars on Service. I was ordering through UberEat but forget a meal. I then add an extra order but the driver was showing an attitude and refused to pick my extra item. Here s the best part: The manager hear about my situation and decide to deliver the food directly to me while knowing I live like 5km+ away from the restaurant They really value their customers and would accommodate for customers. Really appreciate the service and food is still hot when he arrived. Had a good time and will order it again next time!
Very good food is great and service and unbelievable
Just tried their Satay Beef, the beef was obviously overdone. It didnt taste like beef or meat at all, more accurately, no taste. The photo has been posted. Look at the beef at the right, and it turned white.
The staffs service is OK, ordering is quick, the food is good, and the price is moderate.
The service staff in the restaurant are very nice and polite. The food is fast and the price is cheap. I recommend it to everyone
Used to come all the time, but pretty sure theres been a change in management. Food is not that great anymore. Macaroni soup tasted like chicken bouillon cube, congee was undercooked where the rice was not even fully soft. Baked pork chop rice had some glimmer of hope, fried rice base, but tomato base was basically ketchup sauce, no fresh tomatoes to brighten up the sauce or make it better. Quite low effort if you ask me. Wife said her tea felt like it wasnt even filtered that well either. Sadly I probably wont be coming back even though weve been so many times before.
Pineapple bun at HK garden tastes good
Good service attitude! Only sometimes the response to guests orders or requests is slow!
A cute HK diner with so much value in their menu. Easily spend $10 with a full meal and drink and be stuffed and happy. They also have special deals from 2-3pm I believe. Spend $20 for 2 people with tax and tip already. Nowhere in Toronto can you find something special like this!
Nostalgia all resolved in one stop
Ordered toast egg ham and sausage and server was so good she realized I don t prefer ham and sausage so she replaced with egg. Very nice way to bring your customers back by just small understanding.
Great place ..I came here for the first time on Saturday. We ordered Malaysian Chicken curry, noodle soup (beef) and noodle soup (fish balls and beef balls).. very tasty for all food..it came with drink too. The price is affordable. We will come back for sure.
My most favored Hong Kong stye restaurant with a cheap lunch set includes a h.k. style tea with excellent food and service. Staff are very couteous and friendly too.
This is the second time I ve eaten here, but I feel it s much different than the last time, so I couldn t help but write a review Indoor environment: It s nice to have music, but the lights are too dim, and the whole floor seems to be lackluster. Food: We ordered pickled cabbage rice and satay beef noodles. The pickled cabbage was okay, but the beef had no flavor and seemed so stale. The noodles were as clear as clear soup and there was no satay sauce. After eating the soup, I still feel nothing... Drinks: Neither hot tea nor hot milk tea tastes like tea. Price: For the two of us, the price is about $11 per person. The food is about the same price as the restaurant. It may be more expensive, but the price/performance ratio is not nearly as good. All in all, if there is no accident, I will not come again... If the lighting or food quality is not improved, in this environment with so many restaurants in Toronto, it will be eliminated soon... I hope the boss will do a good job in it , think about it when you see it. over
The cafe is somewhat outdated, but the food is ok
Food is below average. I ordered white sauce chicken rice, they put frozen carrots, beans, corn (3 color beans) in the sauce. Also the sauce is tasteless. I would say it is not something I imagined before I ordered. There are a lots hk style restaurant better than this one.
The breakfast is far below average. If you like Hong Kong style food , its not a good choice.
Good
Typical HK style restaurant. Reasonable price and decent food and services
Wild food is hard to eat... The curry beef brisket rice is not delicious even if it is a star. It is difficult to eat it. I cook it myself.
Very cozy location with very reasonable lunch time specials.
Its an okay ....food is great
Foods are very delicious!
All in all the food was poor! Satay beef is served with satay sauce and beef (cooked separately). The beef is dry and woody. The medium soup has a strong MSG feel. The milk tea was okay and acceptable.
The beef brisket was dry and woody. The curry was watery. The rice had no rice taste. The MSG soup was medium. One of the staff had a bad attitude. I don t recommend it.
Traditional Hong Kong style food. It is not meet our expectations. The location is in Scarborough, but the pricing is higher than others located in Markham or Richmond Hill. Overall taste and proportion is normal.
The Best HK Cafe Food in Toronto!
good food, cozy atmosphere.
Very good Hong Kong style breakfast!
Great baked rice, great service. Friendly staff, Highly recommended.
Delicious HK style cafe, the noodle soup has a flavourful broth with tender and soft pieces of meat. The service was very fast!
Authentic taste and great value
Its greeeeeatt
Reasonably priced, tasty HK cafe in Scarborough. We came around noon on a Saturday and it wasnt very busy - seated immediately. Unfortunately we picked one of the tables close to the door and realized why everyone was avoiding these tables - whenever the door opens a crack, it is COLD! We arent the type to move seats once were settled so we just crossed our fingers that minimal people would come in during our lunch. The menu isnt as extensive as some HK cafes, missing some notable favorites like Hainanese chicken, but we did manage to find something we liked. We ordered the beef brisket noodles ($11.99) and daily special Malaysian curry chicken ($11.50). We both added $1.50 to make our beverages cold. Both dishes were good, but nothing special. The beef brisket noodles were a great portion but I didnt love the texture of the noodles, which moreso resembled ramen noodles. I wish they gave an option as to what type / thickness of noodles we wanted, as Im sure they have tons of options in the back. The curry was also decent, they provided a huge portion of rice. Overall Id recommend this place. Our total was less than $30 before tip.
Yummy!
Quick service and good price. Will come again Parking: Lots of parking available Food : 5/5 |
Worst HK food ever I have tried in Toronto area. It looks cheap in the menu but it is totally not worth it. There was only a few beef slices, with bare amount of gravy to go with. The dish was tasteless, however, with an overly salted soup that you can t even consume. The $5.5 noodles menu was misleading too, it means it has a base price of 5.5 with plain noodles, for any toppings you add you pay extra bucks. Shouldn t be too naive to be wowed like what a bargain, there is definitely no free lunch in this world. But at the end the bill was no cheaper than other great HK restaurants we could have in Scarborough, Markham and Richmond hill area, I simply don t see any reason this place is worth 4.2 stars. 2 stars is the maximum for real.
Delicious
Authentic Hong Kong style
Great breakfast menu. Reasonable prices. Ordered the chicken macaroni, egg & ham sandwich, and cold milk tea. Recommend for brunches.
Authentic feel, authentic food. Among my favorites of the many cha chaan teng I go to in the GTA!!!
Tastes good
The milk tea is good, but the cup is a bit thin. Full of Hong Kong style tea dishes
We arrived early for brunch, and there seems to be a few local customers. Food is ok, just your standard HK style restaurant. The interior is a bit dated, but still comfortable enough. So you can already guess that the price is affordable. Ill return if Im in the neighborhood, but not a restaurant Ill drive across town for. Parking: The plaza is pretty empty, finding a parking space will not be a problem
Great meal Kid-friendliness: Nice waitress! Food : 5/5 |
Very pretty place. Food is very tasty.
Food was great - came on a timely manner.
Used to come here all the time and food was very inexpensive. Quality has always been above average. Unfortunately, not anymore with the new owner. Despite the environment had improved a little with renovations, food quality had definitely come down quite a bit and price up a lot
My most favored Hong Kong stye restaurant with a cheap lunch set includes a h.k. style tea with excellent food and service. Staff are very couteous and friendly too.
Came here based on positive reviews, but unfortunately it was biased as they offer free drinks for those that give a 5 star. Half of the items we ordered were not available. We placed a larger order and a dish was missing. Didn t like the the food. Quality was subpar and everything tasted like re-used oil.
Good good good service reasonable price
Cozy spot for HK breakfast!
bad service and food quality after change of boss and chef. Too salty for the soup and price increased a lot
very poor quality of food. one of the worst cha charn tang i have ever tried in TO. we ordered the very basic cha charn tang basic: baked tomato pork chop rice and steak w/black pepper sauce in sizzling plate. food is very salty and only saltiness i could ever taste and no other flavor in either tomato sauce or black pepper sauce. the 4.2 stars in these google reviews r obviously a scam.
Great food! I come here in the morning after work and it s great!
Very good traditional hk food
Been coming here with my parents for a long time! Management has changed, but the foods still as good, if not better than before. Everyones also very nice, always a pleasure to talk to. Interior upgrade is also a nice touch!
I have been to many different Hong Kong cafe stores but this one is probably the worst one yet. Tomato soup was very salty, and the satay chicken rice was one of the most bland dishes I had. Popcorn chicken was also disappointing and no flavor (or sauce). The usual ice lemon tea and Hong Kong milk tea was ok, but Ive had better at other places. Overall food wasnt very flavorful, wont be coming back. The 5 star reviews are probably from them telling you to rate them 5 stars for a free dish/drink.
Food tasteless, hk milk tea somewhat okay
The waitress with a wig on her head is so fake! I saw her fake smile to her colleagues, and then she turned around and glared at her colleagues, rolled her eyes and pouted. The fake smile makes people feel uncomfortable. I actually saw that she put her hands in the food after taking the food from the window for the customers! Its so unhygienic! I went there twice and I wont go there again!
new breakfast menu
Nice place
A very good Hong Kong-style tea restaurant. I like coming here for breakfast on Sunday mornings. It s economical and has a Hong Kong-style atmosphere.
Ver good taste
Original HK breakfast good.
Changed menu and now has many choices to pick. One of my favorites Hong Kong style restaurant.
French Toast and Pinapple Bun were great.
Cute, cozy HK based restaurant in Toronto. Friendly staff and decent priced Its great that the place offers daily specials throughout the week and presentations of food were A1.
Worth a try
Highly recommend.
Great affordable place
Fast, easy to order. Food is as expected. Staff friendly.
Very good meals and true HK taste!
Very good and delicious
tasty!
Delicious, delicious, great service
Service was friendly and super fast, I was disappointed that the satay beef was so tough, that I couldnt eat it. I will come back to try other items tho. 3.5 stars. Food : 3/5
The food here is delicious and there are many choices.
Amazing
nice
I like the nearest canteen very much.
Great Hong Kong Food
Staff are attentive and enthusiastic
Great food, reasonable price!
Amazing prices (11.99 - for a 3 course meal for lunch) & good tasting!
Great food! We ordered baked chicken with tomato sauce on spaghetti, and baked beef steak with gravy sauce on spaghetti. Both comes with a soup and a drink. Delicious and great value!
Ha, my friend s restaurant, I always say come here every time we make an appointment! I particularly like their company sandwiches ~ I order them almost every time! The waiters are also very chatty~
Small obscure location in Scarborough. Classic HK cafe with breakfast, teatime and dinner sets. Going for breakfast, the meals are relatively cheap with inclusions of toast, a sausage as well as eggs (choice of how you want it cooked). I ordered the satay beef noodles and it was quite bland. The sausage and eggs were also bland. The tea as well as Yin Yang drinks were pretty decent. Its not a bad spot if youre looking to get a lot of food for its low price; but there are better HK spots in the GTA.
Sha Niu cant play!
I think there a change of management, and menu, only tried once not sure if its still good as commented below. Old review before new management took over Good price, sincere, good portion, authentic HK style. Free morning newspapers. Closes at 4pm and Sundays Parking: Lots
Good price and meal combos
Lemon tea and milk tea did not taste good. And the satays beef soup noodle is under average. I don t think this restaurant deserves four stars on Google Maps.
Delicious Hong Kong style cafe food. Has great combos.
Great cheap food, you can get a drink, dish and soup for under $15
This used to be my favorite spot for authentic HK Cafe meals. Since the start of the year, new management has taken over. Our most recent experience dining here under new management, we found the food we ordered was not up to the usual standard. I ordered minced beef rice, and my husband ordered baked chicken rice. The minced beef over rice dish was depressing. It was served lukewarm, the sauce was gloopy, and it tasted of tomato sauce/ketchup rather than the more authentic version that uses a savory brown sauce. The fried egg on top was cooked through when I expected it to be runny. The baked chicken rice was equally disappointing. The usual expectation of baked rice is seared juicy chicken thigh steak smothered with a tomatoe-y sauce. However, we received cubed chicken breast pieces, which were dry and lacked flavor. The redeeming quality of the baked rice was that it was served piping hot. Im not sure why the new owner needed to mess with recipes that were foolproof. I hope my experience was a one-off and that it was an unusual experience. Needless to say, it will take some time for my confidence to return to try again.
First time here and i loved it. Service professional, food exceptional, and the experience was sensational. I recommend the french toast with condensed milk! Thank you :)
Ordered the brisket soup. There was almost no meat.. all I got was beef trimmings, which I ended up feeding to my dogs. My chow meim had a bad taste to it. Will not order again.
mid price Hong Kong style tea restaurant
Food is excellent . prices are very reasonable
The satay beef noodle was great, though the egg and ham could be better. The fried chicken with gravy was tasty. The white soup with corn was good too. There are so much food on the menu that we want to try. We will definitely come again. Also, the price is reasonable.
Honestly a traumatizing experience LOL worst HK cafe I ve ever been to. I can t even say it s good for the price because McD or instant noodles would be better. Service was fast and great though!!
Changed ownership, but so far so good.
Food was very mediocre. Food came fast and servers were polite but didnt give us menu until we asked and missed our drinks.
Satay beef was tasty. Could improve with the eggs and sausage. But overall good quality!
Staffs are Very friendly and food is delicious
Wonderful ambions
Very good very good pricing and big portion. Daily special (either comes w rice or spaghetti),big portion and comes w soup and drink. My favourite food item is the noodle and congee combo. Tasty and its a very good deal, again the portion is not small. I believe this restaurant only take cash only though.
First time at this restaurant, everything is just ok. Nothing special and the food was just edible. It was for a quick lunch, hit and run place!
As a big guy like me, I didn t know that the chef in the tea restaurant was so good at knife skills. Lemons are so expensive. ! What happened with Buriantiaochang? Pan-frying does not resemble deep-frying, nor does it resemble frying.
Taking my son who flew over from Texas to taste his long-lost Hong Kong-style breakfast. I think the overall level is okay and the service is very good. Its a pity that I couldnt order a cup of milk tea. I will definitely try it next time I go.
Friendly server, quick service. Food was just okay, a bit bland.
Turn left hand, cup of milk tea ! Not Hong Kong style milk tea, no tea fragrance and no creamy milk!
Did not go there for a long time and the crew of server was mostly changed from the previous visit (Heard about the incident of changing the owner but not sure since not much change in the decorations of the place). The waitresses today were not unfriendly and pretty rude for some reason: directly grabbing plates or bowls that seems to have been finished from our table and did not even ask if we had done; no communication completely when taking our food up to the table (just grabbed stuffs from the kitchen, and then put them on one side of our table and ran away so quickly ..). The food was also somewhat awful: the milk tea that came up with the meal tasted like milk instead of milk tea , we only tasted milk or cream, they used to have very good milk tea. The sausage and bacon for the breakfast looked dried (they did not even give us fork or knife to eat, and we have to eat them using spoons, such poor customer service again!). The noodles were ok but the beefs on it were not too good (the corn beefs on the corned beef macaroni looks like to pieces of strongly burned meat floating on the soup.) Lastly, the price per dish was also increased strongly. Overall, both of the quantities of the food and service were way worse than the previous visits and might not go again for a few months.
The whole meal is very wasteful
For the takeaway I ordered, I can only say that others, including the curry chicken rice they made themselves, were stirred together and eaten, but this place just find some potatoes and eat it with the rice.
First time there but compared to other HK style cafes, I found it a little underwhelming for a 4 star place. Food was okay but small servings given the price. Milk tea was really good. Service was terrible - had to call them 3x to order and they kept deferring to another server who didnt come. Then when looking to pay, it happened 3x again, even when I tried to stand beside the pay station. Hope it gets better but they need to get better for sure.
HK Garden is a small restaurant Ive frequented since its early days, open only from 7 AM to 4 PM. Their authentic Hong Kong-style dishes are consistently delicious. My must-try is the beef brisket rice, paired with their signature milk tea/coffee mix. Its a nostalgic taste of Hong Kong and the prices are fairly priced
Get A3
It used to be my favorite restaurant. I almost went there everyday. Since they changed owner, everything changed. They raised prices multiple times. The service is bad. No greetings. Nobody went to you after you sat down. Wait, wait, wait long enough, when you call them they were slow to respond. But literally there was only a few tables and it was not busy at all. I dont go there anymore.
I ordered this set which cost me $12.5!!! The taste is not as good as other cha chaan teng. The luncheon meat and bacon taste like boiled meat, the pan-fried egg is totally overcooked. The milk tea taste plain. Service was good but the food really not satisfying. Highly disappointed! Food
Very bad. No one walks you to your seat. The wait time for meals was too long.
They ve made a lot of changes regarding the food and decor. Taste of the sauces and soups are way better than before. Happy to see someone is still insisting on making good food instead of just branding nowadays.
Parking: Super easy to find parking, even on Saturdays Recommended dishes
Good food at a good price, now they even open on Sunday as well
Taste is below average. Tried lunch and afternoon tea.
Beef Brisket soup is 7.2. Peanut Butter bread is nice and crispy some may say the peanut butter is too much and others may beg to differ. Baked pork chop also may be to ketchupy or may not have enough ketchup depends on the palette. The service is good and fast. The prices are really good and parking is good. Closing statement: Pretty Good!
My lips got inflammation after using their napkins
Traditional HK brunch café. Everything we ordered today is tasty. Price is fairly low given the large serving size and complimentary soup and coffee/tea. Would go there again.
The food is Hong Kong style and the atmosphere is more nostalgic
Their chicken fillet was bloody inside They took my partially eaten fillet and just refried it. Ewwww Food : 1/5
Used to be my favourite place since high school(15+yrs), but sad to say after the new management, taste and quality has been going down hill, dont think well go back again for while. Good luck and hope you do better in future.
Great food good service nice people very authentic The boss is kind-hearted, the food tastes great, and the service is so good that I wonder if I really deserve to be treated like this QAQ
Delicious food and drinks, quick service, good price, and nice interior design.
Decent price and good food. Recommend!
Amazing HK cafe in the area. I really like their baked rice
Good food!
enjoy
Good HK style milk tea. Good customer service.
nice service
Great service! Super fast and delicious food. Will return often.
I like their HK Tea!
Great!
Good food and service
Good test good service Food
Very good atmosphere also a free drink when you leave a review. Great food
Affordable prices, great products, first-class service
A friendly neighborhood, HK cafe. Always a go to spot for us.
A hidden gem! This place is the perfect spot for some comfort HK style food. The portions are amazing and the value is exceptional. Service was also great, and most importantly food was delicious. We tried the beef curry on rice along with congee. Both dishes were amazing. The decor and interior is a bit run down, but don t be worried. The food and the great prices make up for it! Definitely worth a visit.
Pretty good Hong Kong style restaurant
First time visiting this resturant. It was quite busy. We were seated right by the entrance. Cold air kept rushing in when the door was opened. Ordered a curry beef brisket & tendon rice plus other dishes. The food came very fast. To my surprise, it was very good. The waiter was very polite , friendly tending our needs. To my surprise, the other waiters also provided such high quality friendly service to our table. They all shared the duty. To summarize, the food and the service were excellent. No wonder the resturant was packed even pasted lunch time. Highly recommend.
