Finally able to try this hard to find dish “味菜牛柳絲” (Shredded Beef Tenderloin w/Pickled Green) in Canada. It’s a very rare and hard to find dish, even in Hong Kong. I’m so glad this restaurant has this dish in their menu. I’ll be back soon and try more!!!
I liked the beef brisket noodle very much, but the waitress’s service and attitude was horrible. It seems like they dislike mandarin, and they don’t like to be asked not to add onion or garlic. The waitress was impatient and rude throughout the process. Every time she delivered food, she simply just put it on your table and went away. I said thank you every time, but didn’t got any response from her. Plus they don’t have any paper menu, nor do they write everything on the wall. You have to carefully hear what drink they have before ordering
Food was delicious but attitude was rude - we ordered pickled cabbage noodle and beef noodle which cost us around 26 bucks in total. Both are great food and cost effective. But the attitude of the waitress was horrible and impatient. I spoke mandarin and needed my husband to translate to her in Cantonese. She was very impatient listening to me speaking Mandarin. Also, I requested no green onions and no garlic, she stopped writing what I ordered to the paper and put down both of her hands and started to frown like she was so upset and gave up. I’m not sure what she was upset about because it’s a normal request to a restaurant. Her attitude was just very confusing to me. Then my husband who speaks Cantonese talked to her, she seemed to be more comfortable but still not very friendly. I felt so offended by her attitude. I will never come back again just to get treated this way. Also, note that the whole menu was in Chinese on the wall and only a few dishes have English subtitles. So if you only speak English it would be difficult to understand the menu.
Hk Cafe that's a new find for me. Local, simple and nothing fancy. Prices are very reasonable. Only thing is the servers don't speak English. All day congee, breakfast combos and 2:30-6pm snack specials.
This place is Quaint...not an artificial quaint- ness ...it's just the way it is....an early HK morning cafe .... I come here just to unwind.. and have my early morning Hong Kong Milk tea ...❤️... Reminiscing of how life in HK bustling streets would be .....
Nothing fancy about this budget friendly restaurant that offers a Hong Kong cafe style menu plus. Service was quick prices were great as well as the portions. Food actually tasted good considering how fast it was served.
Red Tea House is a HK Style Cha Chan Teng and have been in business for many many years. It's one of my go-to place whenever I am in the Scarbrough area. It's nothing fancy, it's like a mama-papa shop hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant but that's the type of style and vibe I am seeking when I am here. Sometimes, when it's packed, you have to share a table, which is typical and I don't mind it. The staff are friendly and courteous, they are all aunties so give them time to serve you and don't be aggressive or impatient with them. This is a chill place where it seems most customers know each other and with the staff. The food are good portion, relatively cheaper price than others. You can order their all-day breakfast, all-day combo, lunch specials, afternoon tea specials or dinner dishes, so many kinds. NOTE: If you don't read Chinese, it maybe a challenge as they don't really have a menu as they wrote all their food items around all the walls in the restaurant. My favourite item here is its beef brisket soup noodles. Many other places will heat up the beef brisket in clear broth and just add whatever sauce you want whether it's curry sauce, special Chinese style but the meat just never submerged in the sauce when they are not dip into the sauce. Instead, at this Red Tea House, they marinated the beef brisket in their secret sauce for many hours, so you can smell and taste the difference. The beef brisket are tender, juicy and they have a good cut with some tendon attached to the meat. Beef Brisket soup noodles + a cold lemon iced tea for only $7.99 CDN + tax (that's super great deal in our inflation era right now). And you can order cold beverage that comes with the combo with no extra charge. This is not a place that stands out, but the food does its job and it's a good place for a casual meal. I highly recommend it.
Low price compared with other Hong Kong style restaurant. Their afternoon tea special goes till 6pm. Reasonably good quality (not wow). Milk tea is alright as well. Cash only.
Compared with other Hong Kong style restaurants around the area, this place has great prices Their afternoon tea special goes till 6pm. Reasonably good quality, but food wise, quality has gone down. Their Hong Kong milk tea is not as great as before either Use to be to my preference.
Good value for money, come here when you are not busy, the stir-fried dishes are very surprising The pot is full of gas and tastes good The price is super affordable lamb belly pot, the beef belly is so strong, it s worth it
Great value for money.
It s a traditional Hong Kong style Chai Restaurant vast array of delicious food can choose Milk Tea is so yummy can relieve the homesickness of Hong Kong people Usually I don t drink soup in Hong Kong, but this bowl of soup is really delicious
Prices are good. Decent environment
This traditional Hong Kong-style food stall tea restaurant has a more Hong Kong-style flavor than many well-known chain restaurants. If you don t want to eat or decorate, this hidden restaurant is worth trying. Their black tea is very well blended. I went to buy three takeaways tonight, including two baked fried chicken chops with tomato sauce and one baked mandarin duck rice (fried fish fillet in white sauce + fried pork chop with tomato sauce), all of which are based on fried rice. After trying it, all the flavors of Hong Kong baked rice came back, it was very delicious.
Nothing has changed, the stir-fry is still good, the wok-flavored milk tea and coffee are just as good, and the food is great.
Just go, thanks me later
Nice food in Hong Kong style. Owner has changed.
Always clean and the taste never disappoints!
I never went. I just looked for directions. Google should stop asking me to review places that I ve never been.
Food 4/5 Service 4/5 Vibe 4/5 Even though i rated this place 4/5 for most items, im still giving it 5/5. Not that the food is bad, but for its price and value per dish, i dont think u can find anything cheaper than this in a Hong Kong Cafe style restaurant. Almost all order comes with a drink, and the best part is, cold drinks are free! Usually they change you $1-1.5 for cold drinks, but not this place. Food is decent, regular hong kong style cafe. NOTHING LIKE WOW, but like its good enough for me to want to come back Service, normal asian style. If your expecting high quality service, look away. Its more like the regular cha chan ting fast simple easy and straight to the point kinda vibe. I actually prefer that, so i dont mind it at all. Overall, 4/5, but will i come back, 100%!
Food is good with big portion and inexpensive. Almost all food comes with free hot/cold drinks.
Cheap price, quality OK. Old Hong Kong cafe style.
The food here is absolutely delicious and very affordable! Even though they only accept cash, it s definitely worth a visit.
You pay what you get
This restaurant serves delicious Hong Kong style cafe comfort food. While the service and atmosphere are average and typical for similar establishments, the taste of the food is what I came for and I would come back to try other dishes.
very good price and good portion
I had the soup noodle with lamb brisket which came in a big bowl. The lamb was tasty. Dinner was affordable and tasty. On the other day, I had eggplant with pork on rice; it was tasty.
It is small restaurant, however food is good and price is right.
Old style restaurant
Eating at this restaurant was certainly a great pleasure. The service here was off this planet, and the food tasted immaculate. Not only did it have great flavour and taste, but it really raised my standards to above the moon. If I could come here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I guarantee you, I would.
Delicious food and very friendly staff. Good portions. Restaurant is very organized and clean. Prices are fair.
food and price are not bad, slow service; food and price are pretty good, service is a little slow.
It s okay
I have been eating their for 20 years, which I think is the best in town.
Been here a few times. I love the food here, love the vibe here. But I would not come back again. Our order was $13, they charged us $19 + tips. I was in rush and didnt notice until later. Also theyre extremely unorganized and got all orders mixed up and shuffled among all customers. None of the customers got their drinks right, and theres even a few extra drinks were made. How is that possible?
Just have a $9 lunch with bean meat rice. It includes a soup and a drink. Super good deal. There are 3 other dishes that are $9 as well. Perfect lunch in this high interest environment.
Great place with a huge selection of Chinese food! It s a no frills kind of place with handwritten menus posted all around the restaurant. They serve breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner etc! Their prices for afternoon are incredibly affordable and I like how their combos all include a drink!! Portion sizes are reasonable according to the price that you pay. Food is tasty. Staff are friendly. We got a beef sizzling plate and tofu hot pot and it was so authentic and tasty. The baked chicken rice w portugese sauce and sweet and sour chicken was just okay. Next time I ll come back and try their items for afternoon tea :)
A great place to have simple yet delicious meals at super affordable prices too
Great food, price, portions & service my go to spot for a delicious meal whether lunch or dinner. Most meals also come with a drink & the hk milk tea is a must (both hot & cold) are amazing
Solid hk cafe that has been around for many years. Their menu items are super well priced & most come with soup of the day + a drink
Good variety of Chinese food choices with fast service. But I find it pricey and payment would only be either cash or Etransfer.
An old Hong Kong style Cha Can Ting, nothing fancy. Came for breakfast, ordered beef/egg vermicelli and coffee/tea mixed drink. Beef was chewy, vermicelli soup was pretty bland, added salt to savor, Drink was mediocre at best, price was reasonable though. Recommend to try their lunch and dinner menu. Watching Cantonese news made me feel like back in the old days in Hong Kong. Fun place.
A no frill small restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are many choices on their menu, including Hong Kong style breakfast and lunch. Besides single serving dinner plates, there are also set dinners. The tasty food is very reasonably priced.
Good place for a quick Chinese food bite. Reasonable price. Beef brisket noodle is very tasty and tender. Still good....and inexpensive
Super delicious and very cost-effective!
The food has room for improvement, the store is quite old, but the service is very good
Typical Hong Kong style tea restaurant. Cheap price, below average service, OK food, nothing fancy
Authentic, traditional flavor.
Delicious foods
I went to Black Tea Street for dinner last week. I felt it was cheap and good. The food tasted better than before and the dishes were big. The waiters were also very kind. I will go there again next time
My friends used to say that this Hong Kong-style tea restaurant was a renovation workers canteen. Recently, I passed by with my friends. I just wanted to fill my stomach, but I was overjoyed! The fried rice with salted fish and chicken nuggets is of good quality and fragrant. The beef brisket noodle soup is very Mong Kok. Food stall Four people can drink Hong Kong-style tea and go away without letting 48 mosquitoes fall downstairs! Happy to come back
Old school Chinese restaurant with menu on the walls. Decor is dated but it is very clean. Had the pan fried beef ho fun, with HK tea and complimentary pork bone carrot soup. It was excellent and at a relatively inexpensive price. Would go back again.
An amazing place to experience some authentic HK food at its best with reasonable prices and amazing staff to go along with it. Can t wait to get back
The price is reasonable and the food is OK! There is no extra charge for frozen drinks with meals, extra points!
Great place for simple and quick meal. Wide variety of HK/ Cantonese style dishes, taste were generally good yet room for improvement on temperature when serving. Reasonable price, good portion. HK style milk tea is the highlight.
Good food with affordable price. Will be back again.
Food, services and price are reasonable and good. The environment is clean and simple. Just they charge $0.5 for a cup for take out drink if you eat in.
Yummy food, reasonable price. Quick service
A good HK style cafe experience. Theyve got an extensive menu covering everything from eggs and macaroni to baked rice to stir fry and even have set dinner menus. Theyre very popular for takeaway so make sure to call ahead if youre looking to pick up food. The sit down experience is pretty standard with good flavour and decent prices. Their milk tea is surprisingly good so make sure to give that a try. All-in-all, a comfy neighborhood spot that Ill definitely come back to
Price is fair
Have been going there for lunch and afternoon tea for years. A good old Hong Kong style café/restaurant, so dont expect anything fancy.
Very good price with HK style fast food and dishes. Cant ask for more. The milk tea is good.
Good price. Lot of food choices.
Only after eating did I realize how many stars should I rate?
A lowkey spot. Typically get takeout from here but decided to dine in today - during peak hours (lunch time) be prepared to possibly share a table with others since it gets SO busy and it s a small restaurant The guilin rice noodles is pretty popular here and I get it every time - rich in flavour and generous with toppings. You can pair it with either minced pork/beef brisket/lamb/pork knuckle (pictured) The fried pork chop with rice is also worth considering! So flavourful and not too spicy or salty - literally just right All dishes come with a drink and soup
The food is delicious, the attitude is bad, and the seats are too crowded.
Insufficient consistency on the Malaysia curry. The food is pretty good, rmb to bring cash to check out,
The attitude of the cashier at the front desk is very bad. There are no ingredients or tableware for the takeout.
Cheap and quick
Food is really good
Fast meal
It is an old fashioned Hong Kong style restaurant with very reasonable prices Parking: Plaza parking Food : 4/5 |
It feels like an old school restaurant, so interesting, the emphasis is on convenience and not difficult to eat! I will go back and try other foods! But the service attitude is good and I feel good about it. I would strongly recommend everyone to give it a try and see if I get a high score~ Overall its okay
Perfect place if you want good food
Good food, good price, friendly servers .
Got Lamb Belly
This is a small restaurant. Food quality is ok. But price wise, it is great. Normally when you have regular stuff it will be around $16 or $17, But for them it will only cost around $11 for the same dishes. I will recommend if you are around the area and is looking for food which is ok and cost less
Like doing a lot of neighborhood business.
Good price, lots of selection. Lunch served combo dish set with soup, main course, cold or hot drink of your choice.
Good value for money Lots of variety Food
Inexpensive food and big portion.
place is just horrible. stay away
The food quality improved, the waitress are friendly but the atmosphere need to be improve. Great value
Typical Chinese version of a greasey spoon. Affordable prices for everyone with a large selection of items to choose from. Had the instant noodles with chicken, club sandwich, and lemon ice tea. All very good. Judging by the number of people there, they have tons of regulars. Kid-friendliness: Typical cha tan ten typic of restaurant. Kids and families welcome.
Twenty years ago, I helped every day, but after more than ten years of absence, it was still the same. This persistence is not easy.
Love their beef brisket noodle soup and great service!
Delicious Chinese food. Super cheap also. My favourite is curry lamb brisket with a coffee/milk tea mix. Lol i can imagine it s hard for non-asians to eat and order there. But the restaurants with barely any English are always some of the best
Old school hongkong Cafe , really good
Enjoyed the food, it was very tasty....the staff was very helpful and friendly.
HK style coffee shop with quick snacks. Cheap place for milk tea.
If you have no requirements in life and have no taste, you might as well give it a try. You can still try the soul milk tea in a tea restaurant if you don t have any expectations. After all, it s much lighter than Tim Horton s.
The feel of an old port restaurant. Reasonable price
Today after the epidemic, it is cost-effective, not crowded, and the greetings are natural! The dry-fried beef river at afternoon tea time is full of color and aroma, the portion is moderate, the sprouts are very good, not salty and not greasy The only thing I can criticize is that the decoration is for the common people and they don t care about taste! But the bathroom is also clean and tidy! Better than expected
Yesterday, Sunday, we arrived at 4:30 pm and ordered afternoon tea, which consisted of minced egg custard + sweet and sour pork rice, as well as frozen and hot milk tea. The price and portion are reasonable, and the sweet and sour pork is of a good quality Like it The boss (like a chef) is so friendly, There were 6 or 7 guests at that time The downfall is: the staff used strong bleach to mop the floor There is room for improvement! Come on
Food is ok. Portion is a bit small. But value is good because price is much lower than other HK style restaurants in the area.
OG Cantonese quick lunch place with daily specials. Service is what you expect, food is good. Prices obviously went up a little more compared to before. Overall good place to go to if craving for canto food with daily or weekly specials.
So far we enjoy the food and it s cheap and cheerful! Many of the dishes usually come with a drink and soup.
Food is excellent
Foods are okay, pricing is reasonable and the place is clean. Good for daily needs in the neighborhood.
good value for money
I can t tell if there s something wrong with dry-fried Beef River.
Classic HK style cafe
Great price. Great food. Say no more.
Good value!
Amazing price, good food but place can use a good cleaning.
Horrible quality
Price right, food taste not bad. Store with free Wi-Fi.
Haoye Nijia
Nothing is good in this place; poor service, poor food, bad restaurant and expensive! Please do not come here
Good food. .
Environment is not good at all, but it has a large menu. Parking: Open parking lot. Kid-friendliness: Purely fast food for working class, not for kids. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair friendly at all.
You get what you pay for , cooked wrong food and asked customer still want to eat it or not .
Parking: Ample parking right in front Kid-friendliness: Family meal available
Popular prices, reasonable charges, no extra charge for frozen drinks
Scarborough classic. Affordable and great tasting. Drinks are lacking, but they dont upcharge for cold drinks.
Came here for a quick service lunch. They are very efficient. The combos are reasonably priced too. Shown is the Malaysian Curry Mutton and its a big portion with a drink and the house daily soup
Dietary restrictions:
Hong kong style restaurant. Price good. Authentic taste of Hong Kong.
Lamb belly rice noodle, a big bowl with plenty of lamb belly, very juicy, and delicious.... On Sunday lunch, there are many people and they are courteous...
Always delicious and fresh ! Great value and lots of food .
So yummy, love the simple comfort food Vegetarian options: Menu is huge with lots of options Dietary restrictions: Super accommodating Parking: Parking lot all around building Kid-friendliness: Fish and chips!!! Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs
Love this spot so much. Authentic and worth price. Price is inexpensive. Food is tasty. Love the iced lemon tea.
Very good overall. Ill be back again
Mice running around last time food is good been there for 15 years Bit mice is a problem
Its an old shop, its good, it tastes good, and its close to my home. Wei Wuxian was lying at the door. No one was there. Pay attention.
I bought a coffee she gave me a tea!
Reasonable price but everage food.
Tasty Chinese combo meals, amazing great deals. You must try it.
Food was delicious though its a bit too greasy. Showing here is just an afternoon tea portion. Poor service, the server was rude and she just didnt bother serving us or any other customers. Booo......
Reasonable price for food
value for money
Food quality has gone up since I was here last (breakfast menu), satay beef, pickled cabbage and pork soup noodles were quite tasty. HK milk tea (yit nlai chyah) was decent thankfully. Portions are a bit small but given the price not really a quibble. Ill be back for more :)
The chee cheong fun is good, and the mandarin duck is also quite authentic. I heard it was pretty cheap, but it s actually the normal price.
Good food, quality and quantity is very good for the price.
Value for money, affordable
The price is reasonable and service is soso. The food is good.
Cheap, not bad Cantonese style fast food
Good price
Chinese style small tea house. With congee, noodle, rice , breadfast I have ordered a pork chop in white bread . The side of the bread are turning hard n yellowish dried with crack. The cook seems not happy as I requested an exchange. It s the same to my husband. He had ordered a toss n the bread are no good. The waitress bring a spread over drinks to us which we have to be careful not having the drinks to wet our pants since the cups are wet . Quality are too bad.
The grade is like a food court, but with seats and served by waitress. Not a bad choice if you need to eat alone.
Fortunately, many elderly people and their parents-in-law eat together at the Black Tea Street, which can give the 50-year-old adults from Hong Kong and Macao a sense of nostalgia. At that time, they were satisfied with a pair of short trousers, a pair of slippers, a newspaper, breakfast and a cup of mandarin duck. , if there is a pineapple oil bun, it s 0K?
Prices are great and the food is decent... until I found a cockroach in my milk tea after finishing it. Did not see it initially as it was covered by the lid of my take-out cup.
Place is okay. I only come here with my parents because I can t read a single thing on their menu LOL. Menu is a typical HK-cafe style, plastered on posters all over the wall. I usually order the Steak here with fries and it s okay. I hardly use their sauce / gravy, and use ketchup. Sometimes you have to call the server for items SEVERAL times but eh... They don t have many workers so I guess they forget. Chinese soup is served before the meal, along with either HK tea or coffee with the steak combo . Note: not every item has this option!
This is a very Hong Kong stylized cafe, casual, and quick and dirty, so dont expect good service. Its mostly meant for regulars, and people who want a quick meal or take out. Everything on the menu is in Chinese, so for those who arent familiar with the menu and cant read Chinese youll have to ask for an English menu. Food isnt spectacular but the price is good and the portions are big, and everything almost comes with a drink and soup.
very good experience
Amazing
The other customers told me that it has been there for like 30yrs. Strange that I always drive along Kennedy and never knew its existence.maybe only 2 1/2 star.
Good place for quick and affordable Chinese take out
Great for afternoon Tea
Friendly and domestic feel!
A small eatery with good food at very reasonable prices, even amidst sky-high prices elsewhere during this COVID time
Beautiful environment, fresh air! No mosquitoes.
Hong Kong style restaurant, very good price
