Delicious food here. We went before 5 to avoid the crowd. It’s not a fancy place but the food is really tasty and the portion is huge. Since we were there before five we could order from the afternoon snack menu. We did order the beef flat noodles from that menu. We ordered the Hainanese chicken and Cantonese chow main from the dinner menu. We have half a Hainanese chicken and it is HUGE. It tastes really good. No yellow sautéed rice comes with it but it’s ok. The snack size beef flat noodles is tasty but we should have ordered the dinner size because it’s a really much bigger portion. It’s still a good decision because we were only able to finish 2/3 of our food. The Cantonese chow neon has a lot of ingredients. The servers are really pleasant and friendly. For sure we will return - good food, reasonable price, big portion, friendly staff 5 stars!
Another Hong Kong style cafe in Scarborough area. The restaurant is not new. Decoration is just basic. There is a lineup during weekends. They offer great varieties of the menu covering all kind of cooking from baking, fried, steam, soup for rice noodles, spaghetti, and many more. You will definitely find something you like. The food quality is really great. Even the soup in the combo is really good and delicious. They deserve 4-star on food as they are serving hot and in good portion. I say it values for money. Service is efficient as they are busy throughout the day. If you are not looking for luxury dining, you will not disappoint their food at a reasonable price.
We typically go to a different HK cafe from a very well known & established chain. But this time my family decided to give this place a try which was very closed to where we were staying. Surprisingly we all were very satisfied & pleased with the quality & quantity of food we got served. We tried many of their breakfast combo deals, very reasonable & good value. Food were very tasty. We were a large group so we were able to try many items, from HK egg sandwiches, soup noodles, fried Chicken / eggs / toast, warm pineapple bun w/ butter, congee, rice noodles, soy sauce chow main noodles, beef brisket w/ instant ramen to spam egg sandwiches. Everyone were happy with their food. We were there early morning & the place slowly got very busy as the time passed but our service maintained efficient. Keep in mind this a causal HK style cafe, not a fancy restaurant, if they meet these key points…clean, food tasty, efficient service, & good value is a bonus, then they have done a good job! Pine Cafe has done that for us today. We’ll definitely be back if we’re in the area again and will recommend others to try this place.
Decent HK cafe franchise restaurant, that has a similar menu to the North York and East Markham locations. Food tastes good at reasonable prices. This location is less busy than their other ones. Some dishes include soup and/or drink. Located in a plaza with a chinese supermarket, and other restaurants, Shoppers, and Tim Hortons. Easy to find parking here.
Great local HK Cafe along Steeles Ave east that's serving up traditional hk style food. They've got menus for different times of the day; breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. We came here for their all day breakfast set meal which includes entree, sandwich and a hot drink. Prices are very reasonable. Service is robust. I'll be back!
Lined up during weekend lunch. Very busy place. Food were great, portion are huge and price is very affordable. However the place is not very clean, too many people. Highly recommend their Japanese styled chicken rice and Hainan chicken. Don’t recommend their 漏奶華.
The HK Milk tea here is very good. I've had many many different milk tea, but this one here is definitely special. Very creamy aftertaste which I've never tasted before. Worth a visit. Also, satay beef vermicelli 沙爹牛肉米粉 had lots of satay taste. Very very good. So far, this cafe has the best 沙爹牛肉米粉.
Unlike its sister shop at North York, the setting of which has more room for the customers. We are comfortable to be seated and feel free to chat without any disturbances even at its busy hours. As we observe, the staff are also more customer-oriented. they will actively greet and respond to their requests quickly. Meanwhile, we order a dish of Hainanese Chicken Rice, a set of Full Day Meal B,and a of plate of French Toast Bites. They are all delicious with attractive appearance and filled up all of our stomach. Besides,it is worth to comment that its tea, coffee and Borscht soup are very good. Overall speaking, we are highly satisfied at its food, its prices and its service.
Only accepts cash, not card. Employees werent very friendly.
Its not a good experience eating in here. Waitress asked us to wait even theres table is available, it takes us couple minutes to stand until one of waitresses approach us for the table near the entrance. She immediately took our order, however we found out the other customers got served with food even after us to sit down. We asked for our breakfast 3 times and finally we finished our meal. I am not planning to go back except you havent any option to eat.
Waited more than an hour for takeaway. Very bad aervice front the waitress as well.
Too Salty. Terrible food
Staff here is pretty rude. No where it says cash only. When I asked she legit looked at me like what did you expect. I would not recommend this restaurant. Food took a while which defeats the purpose of HK restaurant. While I was waiting for my take out, saw them yelling at ppl coming in that sat themselves. Kinda surprised they are opening a second location with this type of service.
The Pineapple Bun With Butter was not made of butter. It was made of oleo or margarine. This is misleading description and this is illicit.
Restaurant is very warm inside, to the point that its uncomfortable to sit in there to eat. Staff are very dismissive and ignore you even when you make full eye contact with them. Food is nothing to rave about
Food was excellent. Friendly staff as well.
I came to a friends house and searched for places to eat nearby. After coming to Duocun for so many years, I rarely eat in the tea restaurants where Guangzhou people eat. It doesnt taste good to my palate, and I cant get used to eating too many sweets. This is the first time I come to this restaurant to eat. I ordered the sirloin steak set 7 minutes rare, which is not my favorite taste. But there was a free soup, so I chose borscht, and there were also drinks If I chose milk tea with ice, I had to add $1. Yuan This fried snack is still French fries It is a classic and suits my taste the most~deliciousY(^_^)YY(^_^)Y^_^YDoes this mean I have changed my habit? I ve got an appetite for China Parking: The parking space is quite easy to find. If you go at a time when everyone else is going, it will be difficult to find the parking space. However, under normal circumstances, there should be enough parking spaces. Just a personal suggestion. Time. It s best not to step on the meal
The holiday breakfast is very crowded and the waiting time for a table is about ten minutes.
The waitress with glasses was rude
HK style cafe, busy during lunch hour, however efficient service, order all day breakfast meal, taste good, like their HK milk tea, affordable price
Service is extremely slow. Other location is much faster. From ordering to getting the food is more than 45 minutes
The services was terrible. There was no signage indicating the payment method is cash only. The staff were extremely rude especially the one senior staff in the restaurant. What a disgrace to Hong Kong style restaurant. Have to remind the restaurant this is a restaurant in Canada not in Hong Kong, with such service it is not acceptable especially with tipping.
We ordered three breakfasts, but only two arrived. When we asked the server, a short-haired lady, about the missing order, she impatiently told us to wait and didnt check with the kitchen. After 10 minutes, there was still no sign of the missing breakfast, even though other tables received all their orders. When we checked again, we were told that my order had been mistakenly given to another table. After waiting 25 minutes since placing our order, we cancelled the missing breakfast. Despite all this, we were charged the total price for the drink that was supposed to come with the meal. The overall experience was disappointing due to the poor customer service and the servers impatience.
The best borscht I ve had in Toronto
Worst hongkong cafe experience ever! Took 10 mins just to get the menu, and another 10 mins to place the order! 20 mins waiting for a simple noodle dish. The waitress saw ur hand holding up and IGNORE IT! MANY TIMES! Don t come to this place unless you don t care about time at all!
The staff and employee were very rude to my family and I. One of the employee rudely told me to move out the way when I was waiting for my food. But the wait time was also just as bad as service if not worse. I saw our food just sitting on a table but nobody packaged it up. We went to three other places then came back but the food still wasnt ready. In conclusion, I do not recommend this place.
This is my favourite HK cafe to have breakfast or lunch! The HK milk tea is delicious, and the breakfast combos are reasonably priced and yummy!
Yesterday s Hainanese chicken rice was disappointing! It was different from what I had eaten before. No wonder the kitchen boss came out yesterday to look at my dish of Hainanese chicken rice and looked at me. I felt strange! I looked at him, looked at each other, and followed him out of the door pretending to be innocent.
The restaurant doesnt turn AC on during the hottest days of summer, everyone including the servers are on the verge of having a heat stroke. Fried rice and noodles are way too oily, sweet and sour pork is so sweet and drenched in syrup. Well never return to this place
When i ask for a glass of water, I did not ask them to do immediately. But after awhile (at least 5 mins) they still didn t give me. So i ask again, and the waitress told me she was busy and ask me to wait again. I said okay, and after 5 more minutes, the water still not coming, but that waitress was chatting with other customer. That s what she said she was busy. I asked another staffi again, and the staff heard that i asked, she yelled i am still busy . So when would she be free? Should be when i left.
Service attitude is super bad
Ordered Haianese Chicken, Fried Rice Noodle with Beef and Sliced Beef Spaghetti with black pepper sauce. Would NOT come here again for those dishes. All of the dishes didn t have any flavour and wasn t seasoned enough. Too oily. Service, was even worse than the food. No love for customers shown in the way they also cook their food. Asked for bowls and forks and spoon, waitress forgot everything. The dishes themselves didn t come with any utensils either.
Super bad service. Can I give negative mark? I don t know the so-called service. The waiter pretended to be deaf and dumb, and he was slanderous. It is recommended not to patronize
Good price for their dishes as they hugh. They taste good too.
Food is delicious, French toast bites are amazing.
I rarely leave comments, especially negative ones. But my experience with the store this Friday was so bad that my friend suggested that I share it online. I have not been to that store once or twice, but from this experience, I realized that the service attitude there is terrible. After ordering, a customer came to the isolation counter. He must have applied Yunnan Baiyao ointment, which smelled very strong. I have no reason to ask guests, I can only change my position. I asked the waiter to change the channel. Maybe the waiter was too tired, so he said, You like it. So I sat at a corner table with my husband and kids. Because the waiter twenty readily agreed and had a nonchalant attitude, of course Jane could sit in a comfortable seat and had a four-year-old child. Who would have thought that as soon as we sat down, a super mean waiter came over and asked us to change tables after ordering. It was the first time we learned that we could not change seats after ordering, and I was really speechless. Although the products in this store are good, I don t think we will patronize them again. It really affects our mood.
The food was good. It is a good place for quick bite.
Don t come here. I waited over 45 mins for our food. We ordered the baked rice dish which I understood takes longer. But we also ordered the daily set which had a noodle soup and an egg + ham sandwich, which didn t come out until after the baked dish. We politely asked at the 30 mins mark to check, as we knew it was impossible for the daily set to take so long. But before I could finish my sentence, the waitress walked away told me to just wait. I ve lived in HK for 20 years, and I am well acquainted for rude service at HK style restaurants, so it s not a matter of not being used to this type of mannerism. The table next to me waited only 10-15 mins for their stir fried dishes. As a Hong Konger, I m not expecting fine dining. But it s unacceptable for 45 mins to wait for food at a HK style restaurant. It completely defeats the essence of the quick and efficient service of HK style restaurants. Fellow HKers DO NOT come here.
The price is reasonable and the food is delicious
No need to go, children are not welcome, service is very poor
Horrible horrible customer service. Not helpful and rude is not even enough of a word to describe them. Their attitudes are distasteful and they physically push you aside without a word. Would never come back, and don t recommend. Food? It s just average.
Came here for a quick dinner. They make an amazing curry here.
-pan fried chicken steak is so crispy and is mind blowing with a side of soya sauce on the rice along with extra ginger and onion -fried udon flavouring is fantastic (varies day by day, can be oily or less flavourful sometimes) Food
Worst of the worst. Worst service in the world!
Went back to Pine House Cafe for Sunday lunch Creamy spinach sauce over fish and fried rice did not disappoint. Yum! Seafood chow mein did disappoint. There wasnt enough seafood to justify the price
Place is ok if not busy. The soup special with the omelette is great value Tea is served piping hot n good. Atmosphere
The food itself is not bad, with average taste. However, they ONLY accept cash. And there is NO sign for CASH ONLY inside and outside the restaurant. Unfortunately, we are notified when we pay the bill, and they do not accept e-transfer as well. So we had to go outside to ATM even though it was a huge storm at the moment. we will not go next time.
The food is pretty average compared to a lot of other HK style restaurants around; nothing crazy but not bad either. I had the grilled pork neck rice and it was good, my friends had soup noodles and fried noodles which were decent. Service is also as youd expect and pretty standard, with the atmosphere being the same. Overall very middle of the pack imo, but it was completely full during lunch time with a line waiting to be seated so keep that in mind.
Satay beef noodles mixed with beans, plus meat and omelette, all together for breakfast, thats all, nothing outstanding.
Standard Hong Kong style tea restaurant
Sister restaurant of Matsuda! Service is great. Food is delicious too, if you want typical HK afternoon meal combos. Lunch special starts at 1430, entree plus soup and drink. Price is fair as well.
This is one of my favorite Hong Kong style tea cafes. So much to choose from and they are all very tasty. Very reasonable price as well!!
Great food and service! Had the satay beef noodles and it was heaven! Our go to HK cafe!
There are many people in a small space, and the tables are arranged too densely, making it difficult to move around. The product is acceptable and the price is cheap. Curry and Hainanese chicken rice are the best.
Please consider allocating enough staff, boss, so that we can have seven days off so that the people like me can have good food to eat every day. The thought of you having Monday off gives us a headache.
Very friendly staff although I was only ordered the afternoon tea special, pork chop noodle, which was $9 plus tax, food are delicious and there are a lot of parking in that location, their Hong Kong style milk tea was excellent. Will go back again!
Good place for afternoon tea.
Food was EXTREMELY OILY!! Ordered 2 of their stir-fried dishes and both are so oily to the point that you will see all the oil collected in the bottom of the dish like a sauce. Disgusting! My stomach was hurt after I ate their food. They also dont take debit or credit. Cash only. Really? The one on Finch and Leslie is way better.
We are long time customers at Pine house. Sadly we notice it is going down hill with cutting corners and portion sizes. Ordered the ginger scallion fried pork chop rice. They carefully placed the bigger whole piece covering the second one thats half its size. Literally looks like they cut the pork chop at the bottom. Leaving the nice piece on top. They also charge for takeout boxes, so feel free to bring your own Tupperware to pack leftovers. Seems to be the norm there now.
Delicious brunch, reasonable prices, good coffee and Hong Kong milk tea.
Many times he would have his usual meal, which consisted of a drink, a bowl of beef rice and satay, and a piece of egg custard. The food in both restaurants is OK, but its so lonely and cold. Several sandwiches were packed in white paper bags smaller than two. I wont even give him a plastic bag.
It tastes bad. They only accept cash. The service attitude is terrible. The Hainanese chicken and pork chop are really not good.
Great little Hong Kong style Cafe. Ordered the chicken steak with egg and scallion oil, as well as curry chicken. Chicken steak was good, however, the curry left a lot to be desired. Chicken was bland tasting, and the potatoes were undercooked. 3.5 stars
Great place, very family friendly
Traditional HK style cafe. If youre into hustle and bustle with fast efficient service, this is the place. If you want quiet dining with catered service look else where. The food is executed well in the standard of HK style eatery.
Their French toast is a must try!! It was crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Their Satay beef noodle was good too. Would come back here for afternoon tea.
Great spot for lunch! I believe its under new management and perhaps a new chef. People are friendly and food is delicious. Great prices for what you get.
The 11 oz sizzling sirloin steak with vegetables combo comes with sphagetti/rice, a teriyaki/onion/black pepper/alfredo gravy, a dinner bun, a soup, and a cup of tea/coffee, for an excellent price of $25. The steak was on a hot iron plate.
I ordered pork chop rice, eel fried rice, and pork chop. The store gave me 2 servings of soup, but the store only gave me one serving of soy milk, without changing the money. The service was up and down, very unstable
So satisfied , I haven t returned to Canada for 3 months . Every time I go to Matsuya to eat baked pork chop rice, because the C P value is too high, I can t help myself if I don t eat it . But today I saw someone calling it Hainanese chicken. My mouth watered when I saw it, so I ordered more spinach, cream, dragon and fish baked rice. The Hainanese chicken has crispy skin and tender meat, the fried rice is dry, and the baked rice is super large, so you can eat it without drying it. There is plenty of borscht + catering with the meal. The key point is that the service attitude of the sisters today is very good. 5 stars
Yummy food
Delicious for breakfast, lunch and dinner
Price is very reasonable for the amount of food that you get. Very typical Hong Kong style.
Waitress really nice ,food is good restroom is clean not bad
They only accept cash, but there s no sign on the wall. The waiter s attitude is very bad. The taste is very bad. All the meat was stale, the medium-rare steak was unbiting, and the lemon tea was tart. Since it was a very unpleasant experience, i didn t give tip after I go out for cash for 15mins. The boss yelled at me at the front desk when I didnt leave a tip at the checkout. Is that the attitude a restaurant should have?
Staffs are very rude to their customers and coworkers. Been there a few times, have seen them giving bare attitudes to customers and criticizing own team member in front of everyone. These ladies clearly don t know how to give respect to others.
Rude customer service and I don t like a tall lady wear glasses, no respect at all and push you pay the bill without checking if I received all the dishes, won t go there any more feel Ike cheap food price so they will give you cheap service and cheap attitude. Waitress just laughing in the front of customers with no control.
Great spot for Hong Kong Cafe style dishes. Great value as well. Excellent spot.
Good food.
Very poor service
So good! Their HK style borscht is so good!!! Unfortunately no free drinks with meal. Only soup.
Enjoyed our lunch here, ordered with Satay Beef with Vermicelli and preserved vegetables and shredded pork with Vermicelli, plus smooth scrambled eggs and ham sandwich. This all-day breakfast came with tea or coffee. The price and food portion is acceptable, but it could be improving. Due to inflation, the overall menu prices have been raised, and they still have a lot of customers. I guess there is something else that makes customers feel like to be here. But this is not my best nearby restaurant.
Nothing stands out here.. the food was ok. We particularly dislike their soup related dish. Their soup base tends to be sweet instead of salty, which is weird when you combine it with beef stew etc. Not coming back.
Great food. Best beef brisket I have had in a while. Dont be turn off by their cafeteria-style deco, their food is better than many full price restaurants.
The food is pretty decent but the restaurant is hit and miss on family friendliness. The pros: 1) the washroom is very clean and easy to access. Just one door into a single room washroom. The door can stay open so you and your child don t need to touch anything after washing your hands. 2) they automatically provide sharing bowls The cons: 1) the sharing bowls they provide are Y shaped and tip easily. Especially given the very heavy and large fork the provide for children. 2) no high chairs or booster seats 3) no kids menu 4) their fries have a peanut flavour. Not sure if it is fried in peanut oil or there was cross contamination with peanut butter French toast. Worrisome for children with nut allergies. Kid-friendliness: See main review
The attitude of the waiter was very bad! Very bad! I accidentally poured a drink on the table, so I asked the waiter to bring me a rag to clean it up. The waiter ignored me and pretended not to hear me. (I swear, my attitude was very good, because it was our own accident, and I spoke Mandarin throughout the process. Communicate with the waiter, including ordering) This is not the point! The key point is that after waiter A pretended not to hear, he told another waiter B: They knocked down the drink, so don t pay attention to him! (Speaking in Cantonese) During this period, a waiter C came to serve the food, and I said it politely again. Sorry, I spilled my drink. Please. Although I speak Mandarin, I can also understand Cantonese! In the end, after we paid the bill, they didnt come to clean it up!
Ordered a baked portuguese beef brisket rice for take out and it was really good. I wished there were a bit more beef but the sauce was delicious. 15 dollars for the meal and its super filling. The meal also came with a soup.
Waitresses show on skills and capabilities in assigning tables to customers. Very often, waitresses take no follow-up actions when some customers just sit wherever they want to sit in sheer ignorance of the advice of the waitresses. However the waitresses could assign one table to different customers (who are complete strangers to one another, but are very cooperative and move to the table based on the directives given by the waitresses) to sit in a packed manner. They treat those cooperative customers like idiots. What they do know is talk about their private matters on a high-pitched voice without considering whether the customers like it or not.
The food is also of a good standard. The baked pork chop with rice is juicy enough, and every meal comes with tomato sauce. The highlight is that the portion is very large, and most girls cannot eat it all. The price/performance ratio is very high.
Food is ok, portion is ok, service not nice you can say is rude. Better bring your own take out box if you plan to bring home the leftover because will charge you 25 cents.
The food is ok and price is reasonable
Good to be back from pandemic. Good food good price as before
Its getting worse. The food tastes bad also with the service.
Food was good and cheap, but when time to pay, they let us know it was cash only but i didn t carry any cash on me since they usually accept card. Disappointing because they should have let us know ahead of time.
Your typical HK cafe. Servers were very friendly and efficient. My food came out very quickly, and it was yummy, definitely satisfied my cravings! Mind you, when they get busy, they are very much on a go go go kind of situation, so dont be offended if theyre rushing away trying to turn the tables around asap. This cafe is located right at Steeles and Middlefield, lots of parking spaces available. This plaza does get very busy, so might need to drive around a bit to find a spot. This place is CASH only!!! There was no signage of this anywhere and I was not aware of this until the end of my meal...awkward! Good thing I had cash in my car and they let me go get it. There is an ATM right next door apparently, but just bring cash with you!
Food is pretty good. Service from some of the wait staff need some work. It was packed when we got there. Its not a big place, so youre very tightly seated together. If youre looking for a quick bite, then its fine. But if you want to sit and talk, Id go elsewhere.
Good food and reasonably priced.
Had the pork chop casserole. Busy place for lunch. Might want to arrive early.
Excellent egg sandwich and noodle bowl, can t find any other place better then this.
Great experience! Food portions are large and prices are reasonable.
Love their Korean stone bowl rice.
very yummy food and good service
Good value and delicious dishes.
found a steel wire on my noodle
their spaghetti is a must try
Poor service Servers are very rude and impatient. They don t even bother to speak full sentences after finding out we don t speak Cantonese. Also food is OK, not worth to come again.
Breakfast specials are good (good bang for the buck), but service seriously can lack. Hong Kong HK Milk Tea is decent as well. Cash only too. Its nice they have a location in Newmarket to go to as well when Im up that way. Fav breakfast / brunch dishes remain the breakfast combo. (ie. in this case it is: bacon, eggs, toast + a bowl of soup noodle + tea or coffee. The beef satay noodle soup (with macaroni) is decent; opting for the pickled vegetable and pork noodle soup (with rice noodle / mai fun) is a good option too.
First time trying this place. Well lit, clean interior and spacious enough for a HK cafe. The food menu was well rounded with selections. The waitresses are above average of what I expected from an HK cafe. The food was served quite quickly and was delicious. Everything we ordered was delicious and generous portions for the price. Im not sure why there are so many low ratings. This place deserves 4+ stars. Would highly recommend!
I came here for Sunday brunch with my family. The cafe was cleaned and organized. It wasn t crowded when we arrived around 1:30pm. There were plenty of tables available. They did a good job keeping social distance between tables. Their menu offered a great selection of Hong Kong style all day combo and set lunch. The food was tasty and fresh. The portion was reasonable and the price was affordable. Will come back more often! It was so nice to enjoy Hong Kong style food at this cafe on Canada Day holiday. The cafe was quite busy during lunch time but we were lucky to get a table without waiting too long. The food quality was consistent. The service was efficient and everything came quickly. This is a good place to go for a quick meal.
Food tastes good, service is meh. Not sure it is the milk tea, food or utensil. Everyone has diarrhea afterward. Not impressed.
Their prices have gone up substantially after reopening, okay to try it once in a while.
I have tried this restaurant on a few occasions and each time I m honestly very disappointed. I ve tried this place pre-pandemic and they very weren t good back then. I thought that they might ve changed after a couple of years so I gave them another chance, but I was wrong. The service is awful and the waitress is always rushing you even when the restaurant isn t busy. The food is mediocre, there s nothing wowing about it. I ve also read some reviews that said the waitress is rude if you don t speak Cantonese, but I just want to clarify that they re still rude even if you do speak Cantonese. In the end, there are plenty of other Hong Kong styled cafes that serves much better food and provide much better service. Don t waste your time here.
Ok tea and coffee
Best curry beef
If you are going to order from this place, please make sure you have cash! General service/attitude towards people not having cash is poor -- looking at you like how do you not have cash?, meanwhile Im looking at them and wondering how they managed to get through 2 years of pandemic without offering some contactless payment option -- but they did. Food is okay and portions are pretty good but nothing that really stands out about them and the poor service (for me) does them in. If youre looking for Asian/HK style food options nearby, I would head 5 min SW to Alton Tower Circle instead.
Hong Kong style cafes, I always come here for lunch, all set lunch are very delicious and good portions, and they come with soup of the day, and tea or coffe, highly recommend
Delicious Hong Kong style cuisine. Update: Today my family of 3 are havng breakfast here and we ordered something different with we usually ordering. They taste good :)
Clean, places . Waitress are very friendly. Food tasted ok. Come quickly . Price from $7 to $15 dishes with rice. Will come again.
I was expecting a sauce not something that looked like throw up. I got a different plate to put my food on since I didnt feel comfortable eating the sauce. It was supposed to be onion sauce with pork chop with butter toast with egg. The servers were also rude when I asked to remake it.
OMG.....I am stuffed! See you for breakfast soon
The food is alright. I go there because of the pricing.
Looks like it is a popular place on a Sunday noon time. Menu have many selections to choose from. Food were served hot and the portion is generous. I did have a not so clean fork given to me and the service was lagging because it was very busy at the time.
Food is ok. Price is reasonable. Service is good. Recommended.
A decent restaurant of providing Hongkong style meals. Pricing is okay and foods are not bad. One problem there is too noisy, not from the customers but from the servers themselves.
Typical Chinese style western food restaurant. Great for cheap quick meal and decent portion. Food is pretty standard but still pretty good.
They demand a fixed tip beware
This restaurant is a typlical HK style / . To be fair, the food itself was kinda ok. We ordered 2 afternoon tea sets: fried fish and fries + hot milk tea, and french toast with peanut butter + iced milk tea/coffee. We approved the taste, but after this meal I had mild diarrhea for 2 days. My mom was fine though. So I guess it depends on what you ordered. However, theres 2 reasons why Ill never come back here again: 1. The servers were EXTREMELY LOUD. By loud I mean literally screaming right next to our ears, screaming across the whole floor, and screaming from inside the kitchen. Im very used to servers chatting in the restaurants. For some reasons, its very common in HK restaurants. I dont like it but as long as theyre in moderation and not too loud to interrupt our conversation, I can live with that. But when were at Pine House Cafe, the servers were talking loud the whole time. A full hour of non-stop talking, yelling, screaming and laughing. Also they like to slam cabinet doors. My ears literally hurt after each slam. The noise was horrible. I could barely chat with my mom. We both agreed it was the worst weve ever encountered, not only in North America, but also including our years in HK. 2. Theres some sort of questionable smell in the restaurant. Id describe it as a mixed of old urine and fermented food. However, when I used their restroom I didnt smell anything bad. Why the seating area has urine smell but restroom has not. Its a million dollar question. For me a 40+ yr old person who were born and raised in HK, lived in Mong Kok and Sham Shui Po many years growing up, Im very used to all kinds of low-end eateries, cafes and restaurants. That being said, this restaurant still managed to surprise me even with my already low standard. So, if you ever wanna try Pine House Cafe, please order take out.
Amazing good, great price, friendly staff! I would highly recommend this to anyone who s looking for authentic Hong Kong cafe style food! Can t wait to come back and try their lunch and dinner menu.
Typical hk style cafe with a relatively small menu. Average prices of about 8-14 dollars. I got the classic stir fried rice noodles with beef and it looks great. The beef was quite bland though but the noodles are generously seasoned with salt and msg.
The place is a little small, but the food and service were good.
A traditional Hong Kong-style tea restaurant that serves both Chinese and Western breakfast, lunch and dinner at reasonable prices. The borscht in this restaurant is a must-try.
Been coming here since they open. Typical HK Style Cafe food with decent tea. Can get very busy at breakfast time. Quality does fluctuate but still one of my go-to places when I crave HK comfort food.
The first time I went there, I found hair on the rice. The second time I went there, there were plastic pieces inside the rice, and the attitude was very bad.
Ate here to help a local business. No one was eating at the patio but I figured I give them a try. Ordered the black pepper striploin - medium well. Came out raw/rare. It was unedible. I never waste food but I couldnt eat it. You had no customers and yet you rushed it out. Look at my past reviews and they are mainly 5s. I want to support local small restaurants during these hard times but I wont be back to yours ever.
Updated: I really like the Xingzhou fried rice, meat sauce spaghetti, pork neck meat and egg rice, black pepper shredded beef fillet fried spaghetti, the borscht and medium soup are very good, but the frozen milk tea is a bit strange and needs to be improved. 2 years ago: Decent hk style cafe. Bring back the cream soup please! Its the best I ever had in any hk style cafe.
Great for Lunch and Dinner
Can
Cash only. Pretty comfy setting. Reasonably priced afternoon tea sets.
Good pandemic measure and vaccination passport must sold before dining. Foods were great and good selection.
I was there for tea. Food is good
Hong Kong style food , and taste good!!
Generous portions for a reasonable price. One of my go to HK-style cafes. The baked pork chop, Portuguese chicken, and satay noodles are all good
Quick and affordable Chinese café. Free wifi and service is fast.
They are all under improvement and there are no special distance spaces/facilities. It may be busy during afternoon tea time, and the kitchen s meal delivery efficiency cannot keep up! The dry-fried beef river is good, although there is a lot of oil and water! It is also more economical and affordable. The place can be kept clean, so it is more popular.
Good food
Good food, clean. But as all other canto brunch...the staff are kinda rude
Good price and good quality food. Service is ok and environment is average Tea restaurant setting. I like their afternoon tea. Beef fried noodles, butter pineapple bun are my favourites.
Delicious food at fair prices. Good service and comfortable seating for a casual family dinner.
Who charges 25 cents for toasting bread and not letting the consumer know ? Overall, this ruined the experience and I never knew toasting bread would cost extra until I came here. Ive heard take out containers costing extra but never this lol.
If you are to go to a place for HK Milk Tea, Pine House Cafe is not the place. My relative had a horrible experience with the staff regarding her recent visit. She wanted to order a cup of HK Milk Tea, a staple in many HK cafes. Unfortunately, this milk tea was not up to par. The tea leaves were not steeped properly, leaving a horrible bitter aftertaste that evaporated milk cannot mask. When my relative tried to bring up the issue, the waitress told my relative to throw out her own cup before they can make her another one with the worst attitude you can imagine. Definitely will stick to Marathon Tea when I go for my Milk Tea fix.
Ordered Salt Fish and Chicken Fried Rice and the texture was sticky like there were marshmallows in it. Called to address this many times and nobody picks up. Also milk tea was sour tasting.
Used to love this. However, Chicken portion decreased half of the size dramatically in 2 weeks. Horrible customer services.
I think this is the best HK style cafe in Toronto.
Food is so so . Dont take credit or debit but only CASH
The food is mediocre and stingy. I ordered a beef spaghetti but its more like onions and spaghetti with a sprinkle of beef dust. Its cash only even though theres no signage indicating so. Shell keep asking: do you have the money until she grabs it from you and leave without thanking you for the business. How rude.
Good portions and okay service, parking varies depending on how the plaza is busy.
My favorite thing to eat is satay beef rice noodles. And they will give you a copy of Sing Tao Daily.
We had come to this plaza with the intention of going to a different restaurant for lunch but my friend, whos been here many times, suggested I try this place. Im always open to trying new places so why not? We got there just in time to get the last table. It was busy! After looking over the menus, we ordered Pork Ribs with Bitter Melon and Black Bean sauce, served over white rice, and Rice Noodles with Beef and Bean Sprouts. Both dishes included a bowl of soup and a warm beverage. Almost every dish on the menu was under ten dollars so it was a very good value. The soups arrived first - a Chinese herbal broth and Russian borscht. Huh? Russian borscht? In a Chinese restaurant? Whatever. They were good. I tasted both but had the borscht and enjoyed it! The other dishes showed up shortly after and they both looked good! They tasted good, too! The servings were very generous, enough to take home for dinner. Unfortunately, while eating the leftovers for dinner, I encountered a problem, a potentially very big problem! I was chewing and felt something tough. At first I thought it may have been a piece of dried noodle but when I spat it out, it was a piece of stainless steel scouring pad! I could have swallowed it! Needles to say, I lost my appetite. As much as I enjoyed the food from this place, this experience has turned me off from giving them another shot. Sorry.
Great HK style cafe. Restaurant is clean and food are generally tasty. Highly recommended the on their lunch menu, it is one of the best Ive had in the GTA. Breakfast pricing is reasonable and filling.
Great Hong Kong style cafe. Alway come here for breakfast and lunch. Foods are always excellent, restaurant is tidy, service is good, prices are great.
Good place to eat and serve is nice. Open early as 7.30 am
good taste and service
Good food, nice staff, reasonable prices and nothing fancy but great cafe environment reminds of caffe food in Hongkong...
Food, price, service are just meh
Regular HK style cafe that serve tasty food with ok price
Big portions, milk tea is very good, and ingredients are plenty and quality
