Serving great indian taste
Today i visited Kerala Nook late at night around 3 am and had a very disappointing experience. We ordered Appam and Kappa Biriyani. While the Kappa Biriyani was decent, the Appam was the worst I’ve had in Scarborough — a real letdown. We requested to replace the Appam with Porotta, but the service was incredibly slow. This visit was deeply disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for good service or authentic Appam.
Tried the daily special: kandhari chicken, parotta, mutton kothu parotta, and beef roast. The kandhari chicken was decent but lacked seasoning and proper marination. The mutton kothu parotta was just okay, but the beef roast with parotta was a standout!
I ordered the chilly beef with chicken noodles and chicken fried rice, hoping for a tasty, hearty meal. Instead, I got a plate of pure regret. The entire dish was drenched in oil, to the point where every bite felt more like a sip of grease than actual food. The flavors were overwhelmingly saucy but lacked any real depth – just a jumble of soy and salt that clung to every strand of noodle. The fried rice was a sad sidekick – overly greasy and clumped together in a way that made me question if it had been reheated a few times before it reached me. The entire experience was disappointing and not recommended.
Kerala Nook Indian Cuisine offers great service and a warm, welcoming environment. The staff is attentive and the ambiance is cozy, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic Indian Malayali flavors!
So we ordered food through Uber eats. The $18 (price as per uber eats) chicken mandi was a total rip off. Totally disappointed with the quantity. The box just has a chicken leg and handful of rice. The $15 biryani had more quantity than the mandi. It did taste awful too. I highly recommend this to be removed off the menu. We also ordered Chicken biriyani and Kozhikodan beef biryani. The chicken biriyani taste great but the beef biriyani was not so good as the chicken biriyani.
Head down if you want to try a unique style of chilly chicken, if you are lucky and they put enough chicken pieces, your taste buds will be rushed with a wave of ketchup. If you are lucky that is, I on the other hand had the good fortune to have this beautiful chilly capsicum with just a dash of chicken. Just brilliant! 10/10 would recommend if you are in the mood to waste some money.
The food is kill 💥 We ordered the mutton pepper roast and the beef pepper roast with parota. Being a non Malayali made me want to try more after tasting these. The issue with this place was the order issuance being always done only at the entry desk which creates issues if any extras need to be ordered , but apart from that a great experience. Whoever reads these please be rest assured for ur tastebuds to a treat and dive in.
I’m updating my review after some time Today i had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. I ordered pazhampori and chicken roast, but the pazhampori was poorly made(dough came out at first bite), and the chicken roast tasted like it was cooked a week ago. When I calmly addressed my concerns with the front staff, the response was surprisingly rude (cooked today morning)after discussions from inside , implying that I must have made a mistake as a customer. (Bruhh I've eaten chicken daily and can easily tell what's fresh versus old). the tea I ordered tasted like plain water. After a lengthy discussion, I was finally given a refund for just pazhamporie and chicken roast, but overall, it was not a pleasant experience. I won’t be returning to this restaurant. I later ordered the same dishes from a different place, and it made my day so much better!
Tried beef putt mix and kanthari chicken porotta....below average....
Recommended: Kerala porortta and beef, tea and snacks. Biryani is okay! Food
Worst mandi the chicken was dry and over priced never recommend the mandi from this shop.
Worst chicken Manthi ever tried and really expensive too
Kerala Nook truly stands out as an exceptional culinary destination, offering an authentic taste of Kerala. The biryani here surpasses most other places I ve tried rich in flavor and cooked to perfection. Special dishes like Kappa Biryani, Porotta with Beef, and their wide variety of beverages, including Mint Lime, Chaya (tea), and Coffee, are simply outstanding. What sets Kerala Nook apart is its convenient late-night hours, making it a savior for midnight cravings. However, there s room for improvement in their choice of serving ware, as transitioning from styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery to more sustainable alternatives would enhance the overall dining experience. While the food quality is consistently excellent, the temperature inside could be more warmer during winter for optimal enjoyment. Kerala Nook remains a must-visit spot for anyone craving authentic Kerala flavors. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options to choose as well! Masala dosa is spicy and tasty!
Wish the food tastes as good as it looks :(
Ordered Kanthari chicken porotta, chicken manthi, and mutton manthi- All tasted so bad. Kanthariii chicken was dry, tasteless and bad(reheated too many times-discoloured, spoiled); Chicken mathi- a small quarter chicken also very dry & tasteless. Mutton manthi was manthi rice with mutton curry- not the actual mandhiii. Do not recommend this place. Was a frequent visitor before, but never going back. Last time, I got a spoiled chicken biryani.
I will recommend everyone to try this Kerala restaurant. The food are great and the best part is they are open till 5am Food
Food was not worth for the price....not about quantity...its about quality...we ordered Chicken biryani, Mandi...biriyani was nice but mandi was average....rice was not good...and chicken masala was not good....extra spicy....overall it was okay...and customer service was unsatisfactory.
none of the foods had salt and the service is really slow , getting a glass of water was also something difficult there
The food is so tasty. Wonderful Service. Staffs are so nice especially Najna Chechi, always so pleasant.
Great customer service. One of the tastiest Biriyani I ve had. Najna Chechi a wonderful host whenever I visited. Would recommend to my friends and family
Visited Kerala Nook in Scarborough late at night and ordered appam, chicken pepper roast, and kappa biryani. The appam was a complete waste probably the worst appam in Scarborough. When we raised our concern, the staff dismissed it, saying no one else had complained before. While the rest of the food was okay, the poor attitude and terrible appam made the visit a regret.
Food is tasty, there mutton biriyani is my favourite
One of the Best beef roast in town. A bit oily though
Biriyani tasted okay but portion was quite small.
The place had roaches, there were a lot of flies. We order a Chicken Briyani, Kappa and Meen curry which was pathetic, the fish had a change of color and the smell was also different we couldnt finish it, the chicken in the biryani was just not great too.
This Malayali restaurant tucked away in Scarborough came highly recommended by friends and family and if youre a seafood lover, its easy to see why. The meen pozhichathu (fish wrapped in banana leaf) and shrimp roast were standouts, especially when paired with their flaky, perfectly cooked parotta. These dishes are rich, flavorful, and authentic, showcasing the restaurants strength in seafood preparation. However, when it comes to chicken, Kerala Nook falls short. We tried the chilli chicken, and its safe to say it s not their strong suit. The flavors were lacking, and it just didn t have the same magic as their seafood offerings. The cozy atmosphere and the fact that they stay open late make it a great spot to unwind after a long night. Whether you re looking for a place to hang out or craving authentic Malayali food, this spot hits the mark for seafood lovers. But if youre there, stick with what they do best skip the chicken and dive into their seafood dishes.
Worst food ever!! I have ordered the masala dosa and it was cold, even the chutneys and sambar too. It seemed like the frozen food that they heated. We have ordered some other items which were below average according to the price. The atmosphere was also not clean as we spotted cockroaches. In total, it was really bad experience in terms of food quality and the ambience.
I had high expectations when I placed my order on October 19, 2024, as I had a great cuisine from here a month ago. Unfortunately, the butter chicken and naan I ordered were disappointing. The chicken tasted like it was almost rotten, and it seemed like they tried to cover it up with strong flavors. And the meal made me sick the next day.
Went to Kerala Nook as it was open late night. The service provided was worst. The front desk staff was busy using phone and took wrong order. As we went to ask about it the staff started to blame us for the wrong order. Provided the worst food!!!! Never going again!! Save your money and time!
Here are a few reasons why you should visit this restaurant : * Good service. * Courteous staff. * Value for money * Light on the pocket * Quick orders * Easy access from the road While you are here, please try some of these : * Parotta * Beef curry * Pazhampori * Egg Puffs * Boost But this place can certainly improve when it comes to the following aspects : * Cleanliness * Seating * Can be maintained better
One of the best Pazampuris I had in Canada
I ordered Porotta and Chicken Kondattam yesterday around 11:30 pm, the porotta which I received was burned and felt like rubber while eating. I went back to the store and requested them to replace it and they gave me the replacement. And guess what the replacement porotta was not burned but was very stretchy and felt more like rubber than the previous one. I didnt have the energy to go back and complain then. The first time is a mistake and it can happen to anyone but if its repeated the second time, that talks a lot about the quality of the restaurant. Highly disappointed and wouldnt be coming back there anytime soon.
When i did the dine in the quantity of the mandhi was decent, the same thing when i did take out then the quantity was really bad. I dont understand why the need of this quantity difference . If you guys are charging the same for both then you are suppose to provide the same quantity to the customer. Now it feels like you guys are cheating the customer.
Food is alright.
Egg curry
Never order anything from here. Will regret .mutton biriyani is the only one you can eat.rest all curries and roast is trash
Worst food ever not recommended
Best food in Toronto
Always the best spot to go at night. I think this is the only restaurant in Toronto-scarbrough thats open till 05:30am. Food quality is really good and the service is amazing. Polite and respectful employees.
This shop is located right side of the southbound Midland Ave., just a few buildings north of the Lawrence Ave E. intersection. Even though the out side looks a usual takeout place, they have eatin option. Interestingly this place is open the whole night (it closes every morning at 5:00AM) and reopens mid afternoon (3:00PM). They have both veg and non-veg options and are tasty. They give good portions for the money you spend. This is a value for your money place compared to other mallu food places in Toronto. They could do very good business if they improve the inside ambience to a regular dine in style shops. Parking: Enough parking spots available on the front of this restaurant.
Such a scam, getting beef biriyani for $19. There is no meat and less rice. Worst restaurant ever seen. I don t recommend anyone to this place.
The food was bad and the place was unhygienic.
I have tried the duck roast and appam from this store. The duck roast curry was very bad, the gravy was like an egg roast only.
Good food and good service
I visited kfc today and had beef fry, alappi fish curry with porotta . It was really delicious . And their customer service was excellent, Evalin and Ardhra.
Great bdf
This place has a difference from all other Kerala restaurants in Toronto and GTA.Great food.Biriyani is a must try item here
Ordered Kerala porotta with Beef and Fish Nirvana. Generous portions and excellent taste, price range was fine too. Definitely visiting again
Yesterday, I ordered chilly garlic noodles and chicken tikka masala. Chicken tikka was good but noodles were tasteless no sauces at all. Looks like gave me boiled noodles. I paid $13.99 for boiled noodles. Really upset with their food service. A year ago, they were on top in the taste and flavors but now they messed up everything.
Tea is awesome
Bought some Beef roast and it was a disaster. Its my second experience with Kerala Nook. Using the same gravy for everything doesnt make it special and the audacity to charge $16 for it....Unbelievable. Spend your money elsewhere. Not approved !
The food is good, especially their paalkappa is delicious.
To be honest they dont have expertise in making dosas dosas were not crispy at all and non of thier chutneys sambar were matching with south indian style culinary. So overall not worth it.
Bought a biriyani and a chicken 65 last night and the price is little higher compared to other restaurants, chicken 65 is full of soy sauce and tastes gross, and the yogurt that I got with the biriyani was old and tastes horrible.
ordered mutton curry. the mutton had the texture of chewing gum. I wasnt expecting much based off the reviews, but this went below expectations Ordered spicy and its not very spicy at all maybe medium? would be acceptable if cheap, but this bowl of mutton was nearly 17 dollars. if you want cheap good food at midland and lawrence to go either of the two shawarma shops in the plaza. the cashier seemed nice enough tho
Just dropped by from the emergency room to have some food but after tasting the Idyappam Mutton Mix and tea I had to go back to the emergency room again. I don t even know if it s mutton. It got me sick and I m still nauseated. It s not even cheap food they are serving where they are cutting corners, they charged me a whole $15.99+tax before even serving the food. Also how can you make the tea worse? It s just 3 ingredients! Please don t spoil the name of Kerala! Just change the name or please close the restaurant ASAP!
Tried chicken roast ,one of the worst Kerala restaurant. Taste is not good. Soo disappointed .
I ordered a masala dosa and the potato in the masala were spoiled, right away We called the girl and she took it away and offered to provide another dish but they charged the extra 2$ for the dish which is unfair. I already mentioned my concern to the service lady and couldn t provide a satisfying solution.
They have the worst food. Many of my friends fell sick after eating their beef.
ordered kappa and beef curry. the food i ordered was from keralakitchen.but these people created keralkitchen fake skip account and the order was from kerala nuke.guys if you see kerala kitchen and in bracket (midland avenue).please dont order it.these guys are doing unethical buisness
I visited the place with my friends...it was great dinner.I loved chicken biriyani a lot. It is very delicious and my friends loved Kerala porotta...which was as same as I are at my native place. Thank you Kerala Nook for a delicious food and ambience
Their beef dry fry is lit best Kerala restaurant in Toronto
Nalla experience ayirunu, good food and service
The biriyani was suuuuuuuper, my kids loved it too.Thank you
Superb porota and beef roast, good ambience too loved it
Good restaurant and adipwolli beef fry in town
The masala dosa was not at all tasty. The potato filling inside the dosa had no salt, and even the sambar was watery. The chutneys seemed to have been served straight from the freezer as they were very cold. I also ordered the chicken cutlet, but it wasnt worth it. I was very disappointed with the food. However, the lime juice was pretty good but not worth the price.
Very tasty and high quality food So affordable and pure Kerala flavored foods
Delicious food and good service.
I have tried many biriyanis after coming to Canada, for the 1st time I felt same good taste. I went there with an average expectation seeing the reviews of restaurant but the food changed my perspective it was damn good. Food
Food was so delicious but too much crowded due to lack of space. Must try their masala tea.
Ordered Chicken and mutton biriyani, food was good.
Last night vist. But they had mostly everthing.
The chicken pepper roast was pathetic, their beef dry fry, banana fritters and porotta was worth the money.
If you eat from Kerala Nook, you ll be a bathroom nuke
Ordered the fish curry meals, got just 2 curries and rice, cant even call it a meal. Should include more curries. Also the Aval milk had very little aval in it. Ended up paying $57, service not worth it.
Talking about the good the side, I tried Kerala poratta and beef roast. It was superb! I visited the store at 1:30AM. I went there with an average expectation of a late night restaurant but the food changed my perspective. Poratta and beef roast : 4.5/5 Boost : 4/5 Egg Puffs : 2/5
Kappa biriyani is a must try!
I have tried many biriyanis after coming to Canada, for the 1st time I felt same taste. Other menu items are ok compared to other restaurants.
I recently visited this restaurant and had a mixed experience. The beef roast and porotta were good and definitely the highlights of the meal. The chicken dishes, though, were just okay not particularly memorable. Unfortunately, the shrimp we ordered tasted off, like it wasnt fresh. On a brighter note, the Mysore masala dosa was nice and definitely worth trying. I really hope they step up their game and bring back the consistently good quality food they re capable of.
The food is no longer that great. Too much oil and the food doesn t taste good. It just taste oil.
Good
Worst Kerala food that I ever had in this country. No hygiene. Never going back.
Great food paired with exceptional customer service.
Worst fried rice and chicken curry ever pls don t try this restaurant. Parotta was good.
Extremely ashamed of this people! The owner is a scammer with no values . I ordered rice combo meal for two people, including delivery we paid $ 43.81. What we got was rice , one spoon of cabbage thoran , watery sambar with no veggies and a spoon of pickle . Surprise!! No mango curry. They shouldn t have taken the order if they had run out of the curry. The other sides that came with order was of very poor quality. The only reason we ordered from this place was because I was craving for mango curry. There are plenty of places offering tasty vegetarian meals with good prices (almost half price of this) with much lower delivery fee. I feel ashamed of the owner of this restaurant for having no ethics. They simply want to cheat the customers by providing poor quality food. I believe that this restaurant will close soon, the owner would become homeless or they should go to jail for scamming customers.
I am a DoorDash driver it s unexceptable that this restaurant doesn t follow any rules and regulations.I given the customer name for pick up and I waited 15 minutes because I see little busy. After 15 minutes I asked for my order then they tell me to wait another 10 minutes or cancel the order and go.They giving all the orders coming after me including delivery orders but not mine.Poor customer service and management had to be top of their work.Poor management is the issue to this result.Never ever accept any order to this restaurant you will wait longer time.I waited 30 minutes and cancel the order with no pay it s only a 5$ order.
The food was delicious they open until midnight that s a benefit
Good biryani.
Worst Cleanliness. How can a restaurant operate and serve food like this ?. Washroom was a hell. Took family over there and was really unpleasant, I was going through the reviews everyone points the same. The store looks busy, do they don t care for cleaning?, how can they serve food in unclean conditions, people eating out there gonna come once I guess. The food was ok. But maintain the cleaning can give you guys a little better. Not an opposing review but, Cleanliness matters. Oh my god, waiting time was above 30 minutes .
Biriyaniyill arenkilum carrot iduo, worst one
Chicken biryani used to be tasty, not today
I loved it personally especially the chaya and they really serve in a big glass like back home in kerala. If your hometown is here then nevermind. Kootukare poli sanm.. vannolu kazhicholu istepett pokkolu. For entertaintment you can watch TV also Shubam
Briyani was so good the taste was heavenly
The taste of food was delicious
A bit cramped. But good good
Good food
Old review : I tried their Chicken Biryani, Appam, and Beef Dry Fry. Chicken Biryani was average , but the chicken was overcooked. Appam and Beef Dry Fry was good. New review: All food went to absolute garbage. Overcooked, over spicy and stale. Never coming back again.
Terrible
I ordered takeout from Kerala Nook restaurant before closing time and unfortunately, I was disappointed with their service. The quality and quality of the beef roast was not up to the standards, the pieces were hard and lacked flavour. As a customer, I value transparency and consistency, and this discrepancy between what was promised and what was delivered was disheartening. I hope this feedback can be used to improve the customer experience in the future.
Ordered porotta and chilly chicken. My hands were red even after washing my hands. I think they are adding too much food colour. And porotta was very thick, felt full after having one.
Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience at Kerala Nook Indian Restaurant. The atmosphere was unhygienic, which greatly affected my dining experience. Additionally, the customer service was quite rude, further adding to my dissatisfaction. I hope the management addresses these issues promptly to improve the overall dining experience for future customers.
Water tastes good. Filtered water. Great. Tea is all-saw good. Satisfied. Thanks. avil milk is good but avil is less. Tv is good but resolution is not good. Tea is perfect.
Nice ambience, nice service, tea, Horlick, avil milk is also good. Nice puffs with sauce. Movie was also good.
Nalla nadan food
Comparing other Kerala restaurants which fake people by using social media ,this place is totally worth for a try ,good food, also good service
I ordered Thalassery dum biriyani in Kerala nook . It tastes so bad. Its old food. The worst biriyani ever in Scarborough. When we complained the staff about this they respond so bad and rude to us. Please dont do this to other customers.
We ordered dum biriyani here its so bad. And staff responded so rudly. Please improve your food items and customer service.
Our recent dining experience at the restaurant left much to be desired, especially when it came to the thalashery chicken dum biriyani we ordered. The dish fell short of our expectations in terms of taste, texture, and overall quality. The rice was overcooked and lacked flavor, while the chicken was dry and tough. It was a disappointing meal overall, and we were left unsatisfied with our choice and we reported the issue with the staff and chef, and they were mean to us. And for your well-being I am reminding you the fact that customer satisfaction should be prioritized and its not the right way to treat the customers.
I had chicken biriyani from kerala Nook last night. The biriyani was soo good. Ill come back to scarborough just for the biriyani.
I just ordered dum biryani from Kerala Nook, and it was delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked with flavorful spices. The chicken was tender with the rich flavors of the dish. Overall, a satisfying and tasty experience worth trying again!
I just had ellum kappayum from Kerala Nook it was fantastic every bite was enjoyable and the customer service was awesome
Open late, good food and good quantity. Boost and filter coffee is definitely the best. Except few delays as the place is typically packed. Limited seating and atmosphere is not the best. Especially restrooms were in worse condition.
Delicious food
I bought beef curry from here, and unfortunately half of the container was filled with oil. Ive never seen this much oil in a curry since i came to this country! Highly disappointed and dissatisfied!
Our order consisted of kappa biriyani and thalasheri dum biriyani. However, we were disappointed with the quality of the food. expectations, leaving us feeling it was a waste of money.
Very expensive compared to other kerala restaurants. Portion is similar to all. Quality and taste is good. But still not worth the amount.
Very bad food...oredered kappa biriyani...just small pieces of 5 beef approx. Common fpr $15 seriously.
Good food . Soft porotta and beef yummy
Had kuttu chicken roti and mysore masala dosa with chai everything was ameejiiinggg
Slow service
The food was really good but the service disappointed me. I got an experience of not getting food 2 times in different days and the reason was they forgot about that. Also the staff was not friendly and felt disrespectful.
I tried Masala dosa, mixed fried rice and Kappa biriani Masala dosa and mixed fried was the best
please stop selling angamaly mango curry.the curry is full of water.. im changing my 5 star rating to 1 star
Worst kerala food in Toronto. Bought masala fish, appam, manga fish curry and banana fry. Had to return manga fish curry because the gravy was tasting like water.
This is one of the best spots around here to taste authentic kerala cuisine. Moreover great service and reasonable charges!!
Went with low expectations but turned out to be great. The beef and chicken tasted homely and great. Kind staff and very welcoming ambience
The brown receptionist is so rude and sceptical- Should fire people like that! These clearly shows they hate that job! If they dont like that job, why do even stay there! There are many people who would love this job! Shame to kerala people!
Thank you for providing such a wonderful dining experience! The food was excellent, the service top-notch, and the ambiance delightful. I truly enjoyed my time at your restaurant and look forward to returning soon.
Had a wonderful experience over here. The staff were extremely friendly and the food here had an authentic touch. 5 Stars. Will return!!!
Kerala Nook serves incredibly tasty food with fresh ingredients. The flavors are fantastic, and the staffs are friendly. A must-try for anyone who enjoys delicious and authentic Kerala cuisine.
I would give negative score if Google allows me. The resturatant dont even deserve one star rating. We ordered chicken pepper fry and got chicken that got killed by cornflour and chiilichicken masala tossed with bell pepper and a drizzle of black pepper. To your query they will give a reply this is pepper chicken roast which looks like chillichicken. Surprisingly the chicken from pepper chicken and so called chicken dum biriyani tastes the same.
Asked for dum biriyani clearly and got chicken and mutton curry covered in ghee rice. Had to request for a pappadam and the way they gave can be seen in photo. Don t know in which world the pepper chicken is made with chilly powder, capsicum and fried chicken marinated in cornflour. (The same chicken found in chicken biriyani). Sharjah shake made with cavendish banana, milk and so much liquid chocolate was the worst among the food. Ask them the recipe first and order if someone has to go there. If possible teach them some recipes and tell them there is place in india named kerala famous for variety of cuisine, if they meant the same kerala in their name Kerala Nook
Feels like Kerala, nammade swantham kada......chaya is like anthass..... Raathri erangi oru chaya kudikaan patiya sthalam...... Food : 5/5
