I liked it all from the ambience, quality, and taste to service. I truly enjoyed my meal here in peace. I am glad I had someone recommend it.
Be careful when you eat at this restaurant at I spoke to the manager about it and he said “oh let me check with the chef.” From where I was sitting I could see and hear ( happened around 5pm in Sunday night when there wasn’t too many customers) what the chef said and he even point to the floor 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 the same chef also touch the food with dead bug and wasn’t going to change his gloves to touch other food. I ran up and asked him to change his gloves. There wasn’t even an apology from the manager, he only came back to ask if I want the same order again.
Now open for Lunch again! This is THE best all-you-can-eat sushi joint in the city, both for the freshness of the fish and especially for the amazing selection of outstanding cooked food that accompanies the sushi offering. This is the O.G. location of Matsuda, and my return is because covid has caused AYCE lunch to be a thing of the past at my former go-to Don Mills location, but it is back at the Middlefield & Steeles location! Renovated, peaceful, and very cute, with attentive service and dynamite food, you really cant do better anywhere in the city. Lunchtime means a much better price, but no sashimi, and a smaller menu selection - it's not cheap, but it features outstanding food and great value for your dollar. Standouts are freshly-made nigiri and handrolls, great maki, plus the must-have delicious yakitori-type skewers in beef, chicken, and pork, great teriyaki chicken, neon-green seaweed salad, killer tempura, fantastic fried chicken wings with a hint of 5-spice, and the star of the show "golden shrimp" which are big, fresh, bouncy shrimp battered and tossed in a kewpie mayo and tobiko glaze that are out of this world. To be honest, I would happily pay for this all-you-can-eat lunch if there was no sushi at all, and all I could eat was skewers, wings, and unlimited golden shrimp. Yes, they are that good. Add to that the wide array of ramen and udon noodle bowls, torched salmon and surf clam nigiri, crab rangoon, enoki beef rolls, takoyaki, tonkatsu, gyoza, and grab a fun crispy sushi pizza or japanese hash brown, plus their cute little shot-glass desserts, especially the lychee 'pudding', mango 'yogurt', fried banana and green tea ice cream, just for fun. If you can't find a bunch of items that you love here, then you just don't like great food. I've been coming since 2010, and the food is great, with an easy order-on-your-phone-system, in a really cute atmosphere that is calm and peaceful, not crowded and hustle bustle. Give it a shot, you will thank me.
This is an a la carte style all you can eat Japanese cuisine restaurant. The place is neat and tidy. The décor is very unique. The service is very good and friendly. The food is very delicious. The chefs put their hearts to their crafts. There is a lot of choices in their dinner menu. Excellent!
This was the first Matsuda I went to many years ago. I was drawn here because of the ginger milk on their menu, but it was always out of stock the first few times I visited, so I gave up on this location for quite a number of years. Once restaurants started opening up again for dine-in after the COVID shutdowns, I tried the teppanyaki-specializing Matsuda on Don Mills and the BBQ-specializing Matsuda on Sheppard, neither of which had the ginger milk on their menu. So, I decided to return to this location. Much to my satisfaction, ginger milk was finally available, and it did not disappoint! It turns out their entire menu has improved significantly since my initial visits all those years ago. Their grilled selection and sashimi selection suit my palate wonderfully. I particularly enjoy their attentiveness and good customer service. We made one water request once, and they have since remembered every time we visit. Thank you! Update (October 18, 2024): They improved the cook on their edamame and the avocado maki. The beans and the rice were a bit overcooked the last time we ate here. This time, both were perfect! I hope they keep this consistency.
A nice place to have a casual AYCE dinner with friends or family. Food was great albeit orders were sometimes forgotten so you’d have to reorder the same thing again. Large selection. Wonderfully decorated interior ceiling.
I came here to celebrate my birthday. Food was excellent. Service was quick. You get 2 hr dining limit. Price is cheaper during the week Monday to Thursday $40.99 per adult. We ordered alot and enjoyed all the food. They recently renovated the restaurant and now have some new menu item. Spicy salmon tacos were a hit. Kimchi hot pot soup was very good as well. Herbed salmon sashimi was also amazing. Our favorite dishes were served like sirloin steak, salmon sashimi, baked mussels, sirloin rolls, Mango rose maki, and volcano roll. We love coming here because it's close to home and lots of parking. The Don Mills location has a tiny parking lot. Highly recommend getting a reservation if you're larger group. The place was packed for Tuesday night.
I went to dinner here after they renovated with new ceiling lights and added new items on their menu. Dinner was wonderful. At this all-you-can-eat, I ordered amaebi and ika sashimi. My family and I were full and satisfied when we finished our meal.

Everything about this is good, from the aesthetics to the food but what I don t like about this is how slow the food comes. Make sure you eat before you come and not on an empty stomach like I did because you will be waiting for your orders for a VERY long time. I have no idea whether it s because the food just takes a long time or if they are purposely doing this but they need to improve their service skills.
My family and I have been here a couple of times, all being wonderful experiences in both service and food quality. For an AYCE, the food is of amazing quality, their salmon sashimi and sushi are my personal favourites because of how buttery and tasty it is! Staff is great with their service, serving food immediately and making sure we are comfortable by asking us if we needed anything else for our table. Big thank you to Yunnis for serving us tonight! Your service is extraordinary and made our night great. :)

Its quite delicious because I went there at noon, so there werent many people and there was no queue. Its recommended to order small amounts and multiple times. Although its AYCE, once you order, the food will be served very quickly. You cant even finish it. Theres no mention here that ordering more will help. Please keep the frequency of serving. Some barbecues are not tasty when they are cold. The grilled beef tongue is quite delicious. It is thickly cut. I remember it deeply.

I ve been going to Matsuda for years, and its always been a great experience. The atmosphere is relaxing and the dining room is very spacious. The staff are always friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome whenever we return. The fish is fresh, they have a large variety of rolls that are a good bite size and not too large. I highly recommend the roses maki.

Been coming to matsuda since 2012. My first sushi experience. I ve been to many sushi places and I always come back and frequent this location. Over the years it s been some ups and downs here but really glad it s changed for the better. A few years ago, the food quality was kind of inconsistent, I think because they were opening up a few locations and were dealing with that. The customer service was also a little hit or miss. But both has gotten way better. Food has been consistently good and service is excellent. Shout out to Victor and Jenny for always checking up and being friendly, that was greatly missing before.
I ve come here with my husband for the last 12 years when we were dating. The food is amazing, always consistently good, and the staff are so kind, especially Victor and Jenny. Over the year we ve brought family and friends here and it s our favourite place to get AYCE. We used to live in the area but now drive 30 min just to come here to enjoy some great food. Always happy when I eat at Matsuda Steeles. Highly recommend.

Too expensive especially for the tip which is mandatory be careful, for all the time where is no adding water service to my dinner. Not suggest coming to here for dinner . You can spend 70 bucks per person to other restaurants for saving money.

I visited Matsuda Japanese Cuisine for their AYCE sushi. From the outside, the restaurant doesn t stand out much, with dated designs and signage that blends into the plaza. However, inside was a different story spacious and beautifully decorated with floating red fish and traditional Japanese touches like chopstick sets at each table. The ordering system was easy with their QR code setup. Although they advertised an AYCE BBQ option, only the sushi option was available during our weekend lunch visit. The variety was decent, though no sashimi was offered, likely due to the time of day. I enjoyed the Spicy Salmon Maki Roll and Volcano Maki, and from the grilled section, the Korean Galbi and Sirloin Rolls were flavourful with delicious sauces. Desserts like Mango Yogurt and Lychee Yogurt were also nice finishes to the meal. Unfortunately, the food quality was inconsistent. Some sushi pieces had hardened rice, mussels had cracked shells, and some Galbi pieces were tough. The tempura was heavy on batter, and several fried items were too greasy. The Matsuda Golden Shrimp was the worst, with greasy shrimp drowned in creamy sauce. On the positive side, the washroom was very clean, and the staff were diligent in clearing dishes. Overall, while the food quality wasn t exceptional, the AYCE experience and variety were enjoyable. I d consider returning if I m in the area.

More than 170 items (inuding desserts) available to order during the 2 hours buffet session, and they arrive quite fast as well~ BEST PART.. UNLIKE ALL BUFFET RESTAURANTS, THEY LITERALLY COME PER PIECE IF YOU ORDERED JUST ONE (no need for fear anymoreee of big portions!!). Raw beef tataki and their grilled prawn skewers are amazing . Would strongly recommend their B&B Yoghurt dessert (ITS BUBBLE TEAA FLAVORED O.O!!)

Updating my review from a year ago. Today is Sept 17, 2024: still my favourite sushi place. Brought some family to try it for the first time. The food was delicious and filling, as always. Our server was very kind, helpful, and patient. It was a really nice touch to bring us some dessert with a Happy Anniversary! message, a heart-shaped fries banana, and red bean ice cream which apparently had a special meaning that I didnt know before today. I would never expect these little touches when any restaurant is very busy, but the choice to make our visit special when you have some time is what wins me over. This was an above-and-beyond kind of experience that we appreciate! Thank you! _______ This is my favourite sushi place. We have come here for several years. Quick and friendly service. This is the most consistent ayce Japanese restaurant in Toronto. You can always expect the same quality of food and flavours. At the end of the day, its an ayce place, so dont expect it to blow you away.
