The prices are good. Update: The size of the kingfish fry is really disappointing. I even doubt it s actually kingfish it tastes more like tuna. Food : 4/5

I recently visited Kerala Kafe with high expectations, but unfortunately, the customer service left me a bit disappointed. While the ambiance was lovely and the food was authentic, the staff seemed inattentive and not very welcoming. While the food was great, the lack of proper service dampened the experience. I hope they can improve their service to match the quality of their dishes.

If you re looking for an authentic Kerala meal, Kerala Cafe is the place to be. I tried their Pothochoru (Kerala-style packed lunch) and was thoroughly impressed. The meal, served in a traditional banana leaf, was a perfect mix of flavors with tender rice, spicy Sambar, tangy Pickles, and a variety of vegetables. The balance of spices was just right, and the inclusion of Pappadam added a nice crunch. The warm, cozy ambiance and friendly service only made the experience better. For anyone craving a traditional, homestyle Kerala meal, Kerala Cafe is highly recommended!

I had the pleasure of enjoying the delicious Appam and Mutton Stew, and it was an absolute delight! The appams were perfectly soft and had a slightly crispy edge, making them an excellent base for the creamy, flavorful mutton stew. The stew itself was rich with coconut milk and spices, and the mutton was cooked to perfection tender and succulent. To top it off, the service by Agina was exceptional. She was attentive, polite, and made sure everything was perfect. Overall, this was a delightful dining experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic South Indian flavors.

Bad experience...not worth it

I recently visited this restaurant and had a very disappointing experience. Our waitress, who was wearing glasses, was rude and unhelpful. We had to ask multiple times for our order to be corrected, and when she finally did after a long wait, it was clear she wasn t happy to do so. To make matters worse, two people in our group received their food only after everyone else was finished eating. The customer service was extremely poor, which ruined what could have been a decent meal. I hope the management seriously looks into improving their service.

Food was amazing. I had Mix kizhi porota which had 3 porota with chicken and beef layers. The food tasted very authentic and the girl who served us was also very kind and prompt. The food was worth the 50 minutes drive. Loved it and will be back for more.

I recently visited Kerala kafe and it was an absolute treat! The highlight of my meal was the biriyani it was nothing short of perfection. Ordered a bunch of times with Uber Eats and the food was good. This is one of the very few spots where you can get really good Parotta via delivery (Noticed many Kerala restaurants have quality differences in parotta when it comes to ordering as opposed to dine in) snacks are average though

We stopped here on our way to our usual spot, just for a bit of diversity. Place is overpriced for what you get. Food was cold and took a long time to come. It was average at best. At least it looked relatively presentable. Not sure where all these five stars came from but they are either inflated reviews or friends. Maybe it was an off night but I doubt I ll be finding out.

I ordered Grandma s pothichoru and weekend special mutton biriyani yesterday. Pothichoru was good but Mutton biriyani was too spicy. It was hardly edible due to its pungency. The quantity of biriyani was also not satisfactory.

The food here is okay, but the attitude of the staff is really disappointing. They dont seem to care about what customers are asking for and hardly pay attention to requests. It was frustrating to deal with such poor service. Good food is important, but so is good customer service, and unfortunately, this place lacks that.

I had onam sadhaya and it was one of the best I ve ever had. The servers provided exceptional service with a smile throughout our meal. I had the pleasure of dining and live catering from Gayathri + Umesh and the Kerala Kafe team recently and Im very pleased with everything they delivered. From food to service, everything was excellent, and they maintained professionalism and a positive attitude throughout our event. I would highly recommend their live stations for parrotta and kallappam, as it was a crowd favourite. I will definitely become a regular at their restaurant!

To be honest it s the worst Indian restaurant. The staffs were very impolite. They are behaving like they own Scarborough. Moreover they were cleaning and serving the food even without using gloves . The beef was spoiled and we could smell unpleasant odours. I don t know why they didn t notice this. when I asked about this they accepted that it is spoiled and offered me a biriyani , which they guarantees as fresh lol . Please don t waste your money. I bought it monday and posted the review in the morning if you have any doubts i can show my payment history , because you people never provided a bill. I don t know why the owner is hiding the truth and blaming me . Now I know from where the staffs got such a behaviour.

Very slow service we waited 45 minutes to get the food

I tried the paalappam and mutton stew, and it was amazing! The paalappam was soft and fluffy with a nice coconut flavor, and the mutton stew was rich and tasty with tender meat. They went perfectly together. If you want a delicious meal, definitely try the paalappam and mutton stew.

Good place for Kerala food. Very reasonable price. Egg puffs and palam poori were good with authentic taste. Bought a pothi soru with fish curry. No complains. But the dishes are less. Aviyal, fish curry, one fish fry, beetroot and pickle. And one container yogurt curry.But my friend recommended me to this store mentioning in pothi soru there is lot of side dishes. Might be my parcel missed fee items I don t know. But the taste was very good and quantity is sufficient (not very much enough for 2 adults, but can manage). Definitely worth visiting. The only reason for less star is banana leaf size. A small piece of banana leaf at the bottom, below that is the regular brown paper and aluminum foil. A single banana leaf May cost you 1$. In bulk less than 1$. Why wrapping in aluminum foil when we know it s not good for health? Please avoid using aluminum foil. Use banana leaf and wrap in paper which is more than sufficient. Hope management hear us.

Finally found a place for nice kerala porotta. Porotta and beef fry was really good, also tried chicken biriyani which was average. Also good to mention that the rates are reasonable and good service.

A Scarborough gem. Went on a whim after a visit to the Scarborough hospital just a short walk away. Was greeted by a smile and an extremely friendly staff. Best Indian restaurant I have been to in my life . Now I go out of my way to make the trip here and drive here from far. Authentic Indian food cooked by masters.

Update 3 June : Dined in - appam and egg curry were good. Porotta wasnt fresh. Very little seating available. ----------- Food has been hit and miss. Biryani is generally consistent but porotta is occasionally fresh. Recent order porotta was rubbery and definitely old/cold heated. It definitely wasnt freshly made and soggy with oil. Cant take desi practices out no matter where we open shop.

It was an amazing experience here at Kerala Kafe, I took my parents and friend to try it out and we really loved the experience, service, atmosphere and the friendly Mallu experience!! Vegetarian options: I got a really filling portion of healthy authentic vegetarian food and it s great!!

Yesterday I ordered Kappa Biryani for 20 people for a party. The food was delicious and tasty. Price was affordable and the food was served in good quantity. I really like this restaurant and their food. I do recommend it to others.

Ive ordered the Sunday seafood sadhya from this restaurant before, but this time was incredibly disappointing. The food lacked flavor and didnt live up to the standards of a true seafood sadhya. I spent $20 on top of Uber charges, solely based on the foods taste. I wont be ordering from here again and strongly advise others to avoid it. I give you below 1*

I gave them a call and requested a takeout order for one beef kizhi porotta, two chicken biryani, and two mutton biryani. The order taker mentioned that the Mutton Biryani would require 20 minutes. After 30 minutes, I headed over to pick up the order. For some reason, the girl behind the counter was overjoyed that there were only two orders of chicken biryani available; the other orders were still pending. How they have received thousands of positive reviews is beyond me. In addition, my purchase of four chicken biryani was not as good as all these evaluations said. It was tasteless, and for some reason, the biryani made everyone thirsty.
