The food at the restaurant was good and the server Jerin, was exceptionally kind, friendly.

I always wanted to try. i never had time to go in. I ubered. I placed an order which was 1 hour max to be delivered. 45 min into the wait , delerious feom hunger, they cancelled my order saying there were troubles in the store...horrible experience never orderi g anything from there.

This Restaurant used to be good, but their quality and service have dropped drastically after becoming popular. I ordered their special Podichoru through Uber Eats, and it was extremely disappointing just plain rice with one or two curries and barely any meat. This seems to be a pattern with their Uber orders. Definitely not worth the price. Avoid ordering through delivery platforms they cheat!

Best kerala restaurant in my opinion

Amazing food

The food was absolutely delicious, and the service provided by our server, Nibin, was outstanding.

Such a cute place with great food. A special shoutout to Anusha, who was incredibly patient and sweet with us throughout our visit. Highly recommend this spot for a relaxing and enjoyable meal!

It s a good spot for Kerala food we had kappa with beef good quantity for two people to eat service is good Most importantly hope they maintain the standard of food If they do then people will be crashing in at the door An update as I visited the restaurant today as I heard about kalyana biriyani it s definitely a must have if you have not tried. The service is very good, the manager is very attentive and he makes sure the customers are comfortable. But I find the washroom is in a mess and it smelled bad too. I hope the management will look into it!!!

I had a good experience with John s Kerala Cuisine. The Kerala fish curry and Malabar parotta were standouts, perfectly spiced and prepared with care. The cozy ambiance enhances the dining experience, but what truly made it special was the outstanding service. **Ashwin**, our server, was attentive and went above and beyond to make our meal enjoyable. Highly recommended for both the food and exceptional hospitality!

Over the food quality, Service and taste is Good . I have been taking the tiffin service for past 2 weeks and just wanted to quote few suggestions , please avoid the repetitive side dishes for the lunch - Kerala meals (Toran and Mezhukkperatty).Dinner menu is all good.The price has been slightly increased now it was 225 initially and it was worth for that price , however now the price has increased to 275 and I dont think it would be worth that price. Kindly revisit the pricing.Thank you.

Its the second time im getting the same bad experience. Their food was good and that was the only reason going back again. Service getting bad day by day. There was a foul smell inside the restaurant of some cleaning detergent which is unbearable. Also the staff taking orders have no idea what is available in the store- they will give you a menu card and once you order they gonna say that nothing is available. Second time experiencing the same. No more trying. I still believe their food is good- BUT YOU ARE LUCKY IF YOU GET THE DISH YOU ORDERED.

Very poor service. At least make sure the waiters know what they have in their restaurant. Three times the server came and asked to change the dishes we selected even though they only had 3-4 items left, from the menu.

Had delicious beef roast / mutton stew after ages at their Brampton outlet, reasonably priced the quality of meat was good, parottas flaky and overall good food

There is a reason this place has been around for nearly three decades. The mango fish and beef roast are among the best Indian cuisine I ve had in Toronto. Cannot recommend enough.

Im having the same unpleasant experience for the second time. The only reason I went back was because of the delicious cuisine. The quality of the service is declining each day. The eatery had an awful, intolerable stench of cleaning detergent. Additionally, the employees taking orders are not aware about what is available in the store; they will provide you a menu card and then inform you that there is nothing available. This is the second time Ive gone through the same problem.

I really loved the food we recieved at Mr. Johns Kerala Kitchen, it was super affordable and delicious. We got the unlimited lunch dish ( unlimited rice and veggies) as well as their chicken biriyani. Both dishes were really well made. Our server Ashwin was super polite and helpful and made our first experience at this restaurant really great! Would recommend this restaurant!

A very nice ambiance and polite staff. Customer service was quite good. I tried Kalyana biriyani and kizhi parotta. The Kalyana biriyani was nice, but the kuzhi parotta was a failure. The kizhi parotta is not worth the money. Parking: Right in front of the restaurant.

I had Kerala Special Meals from Mr Johns Real Kerala Kitchen, and it was an amazing experience. Ending the meal with the payasam was the perfect touch, sweet, creamy, and delicately spiced. Altogether, it was a satisfying meal that filled both my mind and stomach with authentic Kerala flavors.

We had a really bad experience at Mr. Johns. We ordered chicken roast and parotta, but the chicken roast came out as chicken curry. The staff explained that this is how they serve the chicken roast. Additionally, we experienced food poisoning from the meal.

We had their kayana biriyani, kappa chammandi and fish pollichath. Fish pollichath is a must try dish. Go for their pomfret fish.

Mutton Biryani nñ Beef Roast Curry 5 s Coconut Chicken Lemon Pepper Chicken Green Chili Chicken would be good except they use dry bland breast meat, rather than juicy seasoned dark meat. All three were lacking in salt as well. Also their Masala Chai is weak & watery. Price is average $17 per dish The owner genuinely cares if youve enjoyed your meal. And I would recommend to friends. Just be very clear that you prefer dark meat & more salt.

Unsanitary with cockroaches running around: We had ordered takeout from here twice prior and the food was really good. We decided to dine in for the first time and it was an absolutely terrible experience. It started off good until we saw a cockroach running on the seats. We were really perturbed to even remember to take a picture/video. We had told the waiter who had discussed it with the owner and their response was appalling and careless. One waiter said that it is just running on the side, so you can either sit here but if you are uncomfortable you can move your seat. Another waiter said we spray the place down once a week. The most disturbing response was from the owner. He said that they had just sprayed down the place the night before so it is normal for one or two to come running out. If that is normal, then how many are hiding in there? It was disgusting that they take it so casually with no sense of remorse. After my experience, I decided to look at other review to see if anyone has recently experienced the same thing, as this is not common from an establishment that has been around for a long time. Turns out the same thing happened a year ago and their reponse was, they will fix it and do better next time. Clearly, they have not done anything to change this. We will not be going back as having a clean/sanitary food environment is more important than the quality of the food.

Not a good experience. Prices are comparable but they are stingy when it comes to portions served. The washroom needs better maintenance.

We have ordered from Johns multiple times and the food never disappointed - both quantity and quality!

I had to wait 40 min for an order that was promised to be packed in 20 minutes. I came into store to pick up in 25 minutes, the front staff kept on saying 5 minutes till next 15 minutes. I will never come back until they improve the quality of customer service.

Best south Indian restaurant in Scarborough.

I had a delightful experience at Mr. Johns! The porotta and beef curry was incredible the porotta was perfectly layered and flaky, and the beef curry was rich, spicy, and full of flavor. The combination was a treat for the taste buds, and I can confidently say it was some of the best Ive had in a long time. To top it off, I ordered a cup of tea, which was perfectly brewed and complemented the meal wonderfully. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic flavors and a satisfying meal experience!

They served the food without cooking it well.... they did not follow instructions. I take out chicken roast and its was cold and uncooked chicken was there in gravy as they put raw chicken in gravy.

My friends visited this place last week and it was the second time they were visiting this place and thanked me coz the food is really full of flavours. Service is also good the only thing that bothered them was the manager visiting the table every now n then. Twice during their visits to the restaurant he questioned them whether they were malayalees or not, I dont find that appropriate. I mean why ask all that? Visited twice and both times they were questioned!!!

Good Kerala food.

Delicious food! We had the fish in banana leaf, vegetable pulav and the varstharacha chicken. The fish in banan leaf was the standout, and the pulav was defenitely a must have. The kalyana biriyani is amazing

Went here for the Onam Sadya. Food was decent however the service left much to be desired. Couldnt find the person who had initially served us, so asked another girl who worked there for additional pappadams 3 times and never got them and that was literally the only thing we asked for after we were served initially.

The kalyana biriyani was so good both in taste and portion. That s the only reason I gave atleast 2 stars and definitely that deserves appreciation. However the overall experience and customer service was horrible. When we reached we were asked to wait for 5 min and even after 15 min (there were minimum 3-4 free tables), they didn t allocate a seat for us and they took people who came after us which is still fine. We ordered a hot and sour soup & the server on shift was hesitant to take order and informed us it will take 20-25 min which was ok for us. Then he came after 10 min to take remaining order. We ordered 2 kalyana biriyani and a tea(which I have asked to serve at end). We got soup and it was literally soya sauce. We informed the server as we couldn t drink it (it was too salty and a weird taste) and he responded he will ask kitchen and come back. He never came back and after that, he didn t face us, just ignored our table. Also when we finished and called them to ask for tea, they bought us bill. The guy who bought bill was decent and when we mentioned these concerns, he took off tea (which was not served) and soup. And also apologized. I just added tip for him which I am not sure will reach him. There is a high urgency to improve their customer service. And train staff to address customer complaints. Though the kalyana biriyani was good, overall experience left us so disappointed and there were multiple hairs in their menu(pic attached) which is not a good sign for a restaurant.

I tried porotta one time from their Brampton location. It was not up to the standards. Felt like they just heated up frozen porottas and served it up.

We enjoyed delicious flavours of a Mutton Varrathiyatu and Pepper chicken for lunch this afternoon. The mutton flavors were very authentic and meat was very tender. had both the dishes with Karela Parotta. We were reminded of Kerela cuisine from our Dubai days! Good service too

We are regular customers here but very upset with todays food especially kerala porotta that we ordered was frozen and was not at all upto the expectations, we could hv bought some frozen porotta from a grocery store and made it ourselfs..!! Our server Nibin did amazing job.

This place serves the best Kerala food. What I liked the most is service by Manu Thankachan. He was very friendly and attentive. Always checking on us if everything is ok. Enjoyed everything from starting to end - food, ambiance and especially service by Manu.

Their Kalyani biriyani was awsome. But recently i bought their Sharjah Shake as i have seen their reel in instagram. It costs $10.The drink i got doesnt even deserve to be charged 5 bucks as its just a juice of raw banana with milk. When you are charging 10 bucks please make sure to learn what is Sharjah Shake. Do not ruin your name just by one bad item as i have to accept that their kalyana biriyani was the best in town. Please kindly rectify and serve the exact sharjah shake or change its name to Raw Banana Juice with hell of sugar. Thanks

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after multiple bad experiences at this restaurant, I felt it was necessary. First off, the service was awful. Our server had no idea about the dishes on the menu and couldn t answer basic questions. To make matters worse, almost every item we wanted to order was unavailable, which seems to be a recurring issue here. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing, to say the least. The dishes were poorly prepared and lacked flavor. This isn t the first time we ve had such a bad experience here either it s clear the restaurant hasn t made any improvements since our last visit.

We had an amazing meal at Mr. Johns Restaurant in Scarborough! The beef kizhi porotta and kizhi biriyani were packed with flavor, and the fish pollichath was cooked to perfection. The kallappam was a soft and tasty complement to the dishes. To finish, their Ney payasam was the perfect sweet treat rich and satisfying. The food was authentic, and the service was attentive, making for a great dining experience. Definitely worth a visit for South Indian cuisine lovers!
