Wood-beamed ceilings & pendant lights adorn this Korean eatery that serves BBQ meat & veggie wraps.
This time we went to a little Korean restaurant called "Makkal Chon", you can find BBQ meat, veggie wraps and so many more food. I taste a rib soup and some fish cake pieces with vegetables, noodles, rice (I guess it was boiled with calamar) and of course a laor of cokes. It was a good stop, i was starving, the meal wss hot and tasty for freezing days. The service is good, kind and fast. The place needs to be more visible and maybe I could suggest a traditional atmosphere inside, people loves that kind of experience.
sooooo good the crispiest fattest seafood pancake ive ever had highly recommend getting it!!! their eggplant side dish is also SO good they were super nice and gave us refills even tho we didn't order 1 serving for each of us there (it was enough food tho) would def come back. its also super close to activate so would recommend coming here before/after 😂
Food was delicious. Not sure if is short staff, only one lady running around serving customers so we had to ask a couple times for items. Pork bone soup with less spicy is pretty spicy already, so keep that in mind if you can't eat spicy. It came with purple rice. The combo A with veggie wrap meat was very good, and came with different kinds of vegetables. Bibimba was good love the side dishes! A lot more variety than other stores and bigger portions.
The seafood pancake is a must-have item. Very crispy outside, soft inside. The amount of chives and green onion is good, enough to have a taste but won't overpower the entire dish like you are eating mouthful of it. It will be better if there is a bit more seafood. The pork bone soup ........ soup is a bit spicier than normal. The pork bone is very tender. There are no perilla seeds. Overall, ok. The spicy bbq pork rice is quite spicy. My friend drank a couple of cold water. I can bear it, but I definitely can feel the heat. Side dish is ok. I will go back, even just for the pancake.
Highly highly recommend! The server was super sweet and fast, the food was delicious and good portion for the price. My heart is with the side dishes though, it was just so much better than other restaurant that i tried
Came here to try their cold noodles, but sadly they didnt have any at the time. Got Udon and Bibimbap instead and was glad with the food, would definitely come back!
Haven’t been here in awhile, and noticed their portion got a tad bit smaller and price went up which is understandable. Food tasted great, we ordered the combos since we’re sharing as a group, the bossam is also pretty good. The star of the show would be the side dishes in my opinion - really love them as they tasted homemade and fresh! Friendly services as well though we find some small fruit flies flying around at some point, so cleanliness is a bit questionable😅
Cozy little restaurant in a small plaza. Their side dishes are the best out of all the Korean restaurants I have been to. And I’ve been to quite a few. I love their vegetable wraps, especially spicy squid & pork. Their seafood pancake is also exceptional. They are usually quite busy during the weekend so there can be a bit of a wait!
Best Korean Restaurant in the city!!!
Update 3: I was kind of sad to learn they now limit the side dish refills to how many dishes you order. Its usually only once. Its disappointing to see since we used to get multiple refills here and still do at other restaurants. It ruins the whole dining experience and Ive seen the disappointment of people who are denied no refills. The food is still worth the visit if youre craving Korean, but the increased prices and the denial of side dish refills makes this less withheld worthwhile. This was my favourite Korean place and that makes me sad. Update 2: Prices have gone up, but still worthwhile going there. Food is still good, but some items are really expensive that it makes me think twice about some of the items. Only one wait staff that does everything. Was less busy the last few times I was there. Times are tough for everyone it seems. Update: Im super happy to see them still operating during the pandemic. Food is great and takeout service is efficient, safe, and exceptional. Free parking out front in the small lot. I wish them the best and that they survive the pandemic. One of my faves for Korean. Original: Great little place with great food. Prices are reasonable. Often busy and place is small, so expect to wait. Decor is simple and a little dated.
Tofu soup is delicious
Excellent food. Good service.
disappointed when customers were asked to wait outside despite available tables. I also noticed some couples occupied a table for six, and there was no sign indicating a need to wait outside or for seating assistance. Clearer communication and better seating management would improve the experience.
Everything was good but plate was little bit broken please dont serve at broken plate
Cute little Korean restaurant tucked away in a smallish plaza. We got the squid on rice and the lettuce wraps! It was delicious.
A hidden Gem! Went here and had some delicious food. Great service and clean and friendly atmosphere. Will come back!
Lovedddd this place. The food was amazing, and the staff were so friendly and sweet! <3 Best Korean restaurant in Toronto!! Will definitely come back with friends!!
This an other gem on Lawrence. The food is excellent, fresh and the service is friendly.
Portions are great, side dishes are excellent and the service is fast. Vegetarian options: You can usually replace any meat with tofu Food : 5/5 |
Best Korean food I have had. Food is fast, consistent and reasonably priced. Sides are amazing. I have been roughly 10 times this year and never had a bad experience.
Very nice atmosphere. We didnt notice that we stayed past closing time on a weeknight and the staff and owner did not pressure us at all to leave. Very accommodating.
This is a small restaurant, considering there was one server, the service was fast. Food was nicely presented and tested very good.
Small place with nice n tasty Korean food, service as U would expect, really good!, got in while on my time off (split work), results were delivered fantastically!
The restaurant staff are so rude, the food took 45 mints to prepare not worth it and they don t even ask you for anything to help
We had more than satisfied for everything what we ordered. And the server was so kind.
Great korean dishes, the combos are the best value since you get plenty of food and soup included. The pancake (panjeon) is my favorite since its thick and crispy, with lots of vegetables and seafood bits. So far, I couldnt find any other Korean restaurant that serves their panjeon in such size and thickness. The staff are awesome, from the kitchen to the front, they service dishes quickly considering the place is always busy during lunch time on Sundays. Front staff always helpful in answering questions and being attentive. One of our to go Korean spot. Parking: Limited number of parking spots, so you may be out of luck.
They might have a smaller menu comapred to other korean resturants but their food is great especially the side dishes.
Love everything there! The price is reasonable, the food is delicious and the staff is friendly.
Sorry really has to say something about this restaurant. No small dishes refill, no one cares about even giving us cold water. Food is definitely not cheap. Literally zero service
Love the food here every time I come. Ssambab is always on point
Need a bigger place...
The food was really good, the place was cute, small and cozy with amazing service. We tried spicy pork rib it came with side dish and rice with the pork bone soup. Overall the food was wow Food
The shop opens at noon. When we went, there were already 3 to 4 people waiting outside for the shop to open. Once inside we ordered pork bone soup. The soup is well seasoned and hot, perfect for a chilly day. If you like your soup spicy, Id recommend asking for more spice.
good Korean restaurant.
If youre craving Korean food and are in the area, this place is decent. They have a variety of traditional Korean fare. We ordered the spicy tofu soup and the chicken cutlet. The chicken cutlet meal tasted pretty good. Not the crispiest Katsu Ive had but it was seasoned and the Katsu sauce was good. The tofu soup was not as spicy as I would like and could use slightly more umami. The side dishes were all delicious. (Note that you only get one refill.) I think I want to go back and try some other dishes as the food experience didnt seem to be on par with the other reviews. Having tried many of the Korean restaurants around Toronto, North York, Scarborough and Markham my experience could just be a matter of personal preference. Try it if youre craving Korean food and are in the area. Definately ask for more spice if that is your preference.
Average atmosphere like any old dinner.. food was okay. Pork bone soup was nice, but it lacked meat.
The boiled flat flounder was always too big, so I had to wait too long, and even though I waited for a long time, the inside came out uncooked. Ive been going for a long time, but these days. Its not going well.
Lowkey Korean spot in Scarborough, but the food never disappoints when I go. I usually get the Wrap Combo for 2 but this time we ordered the short ribs and pork bone soup.
Great value for money. Food is tasty, which you can t say for everyone that presents aesthetically pleasing dishes.
Enjoyed the sumptuous food that was picked up for takeout. It was freshly prepared and tasty. Food
Love the dishes ordered~ the waitress was very polite. ***Only recommendation was to come a little bit later for lunch. We were there at 12pm and the door weren t open until 12:15pm. Food : 5/5
Good food, friendly service
I love this place so much. I Uber eats from here wayyyyy toooo often. Best kimchi stew
Best Kimchi stew I have ever had!
Wonderful service here and a great variety of all traditional Korean dishes can be found here. Gamjatang comes with three chunks of pork bones with meat - very generous. The place gets filled up quickly and you know its authentic when the ajumeoni and oppas all come here. Reasonably priced for the amount of food you get and quality . Everything comes out piping hot. Good spot for large groups as well but can expect a wait as it gets busy.
Beautiful aesthetic, rapid service and delicious food! Nothing to complain about The side dishes were very different than most Korean restaurants and absolutely scrumptious! Definitely coming back!
Love the food andfast service. We came around 5pm, luckily there is no queue.
Quaint/small Korean family restaurant. When this place gets busy, its not unusual to wait half an hour for seats. The wait is well worth it due to the quality. It is one of the finer Korean joints. Firstly due to the intensity of flavours, they dont skimp with seasonings. Secondly the volume of food, you wont be disappointed. Pork bone soup was extremely tender and fall off the bone. Kimchi tofu soup was intense and flavourful. Price point is higher than most Korean joints but well worth it due to quality of ingredients. Congrats to the owner for running such a great place. The only recommendation is to hire another bus-boy or server to clean tables to increase turnover.
I had spicy beef bulgogi and my partner had kimchi fried rice, the food was absolutely delicious. my beef was so good that I was inspired to learn how to make it, although I ll have to return for the real thing
Pretty decent spot for Korean food. Would be coming back again if around the area.
You cant go wrong with kimchi stew or pork bone soup
Nice small Korean restaurant
Genuine Korean dining. If you really wanna experience the real Korean food culture, visit here!
Always up for trying new places for Korean Stew!! Cozy atmosphere tried the delicious soybean paste stew, and soft tofu stew with meat and seafood both were amazing! The mini sides were different from other places but absolutely delicious
cozy ambience , and almost like home cooked food meals! Been going here for how many years and it s still the same quality in taste and service. Really love their pork bone soup. The portion is good sized and really yummy, best pork bone soup I ve had!
The feels is a traditional korean place. The food and service is great. I love their side dishesss. Pork bone soup is reallly good, mustve been better if i didnt ask for mild. Grilled pork was bomb .
Great Korean restaurant in my own neighborhood, authentic good value, delicious, good service .And popular.
Hidden Gem at the corner of warden and lawrence east in Scarborough. Delicious Korean food everytime I go. Ordered the wraps combo for two - comes with a selection of side dishes, soybean paste stew, rice, assortment of lettuce/greens and choice of two mains (this time we had bulgogi and teriyaki chicken). Food comes out piping hot, wraps come with a tasty soy bean paste adding an excellent layer of complexity to the flavour in every bite. Service is prompt, pleasant and efficient. Highly recommend!
Pork bone soup and bibimbap here are surprisingly good. I love their side dishes as well. Great customer services. Highly recommend!
Server has a bad attitude, don t even want to give tips, but food is very tasty. Recommend to take out instead of dine in.
My partner and I decided to have dinner when we were in Scarborough running some errands, and Korean is one of our favorite cuisines so we decided to give this place a try. We were lucky to be there early because when we walked in there were only people seated at one other table, but by the time we ordered and our food arrived the place was already packed. We can see why too, because what came out of the kitchen was amazing. Each smell made us increasingly excited for our meal. We both ordered the Bibimbap, and it was the hottest stone bowl either of us have ever gotten at a restaurant. Our very last bites were still hot, and I m not a very quick eater! Everything was absolutely delicious. The egg was perfectly sunny side up with glistening yolk. The bean sprouts were chunky and added such a great texture. Oh and the condiment tray with kimchi, green beans, eggplant, glass noodles ugh everything was sooo good and we plan to return to try as many things on the menu as we can. I am definitely getting the bulgogi next time, although it ll be hard to not get the Bibimbap again! We also discussed returning on a cold day for some stew. The service was also impeccable. It seems small and possibly family run, and I adore supporting those businesses! I definitely recommend this little restaurant. It is very unassuming and you d probably miss it if you blinked while driving by, and I have found over the years that my favorite places to eat look just like that. The very best food comes from small kitchens and big hearts in opinion! Parking: In a small strip mall with what looks like a few spots for each business. Kid-friendliness: There were plenty of children dining at the same time as we were!
Overpriced, very small portions. Did not have any appetizer options. Left the restaurant still quite hungry.
Love this place! Good is delicious and great service. Limited space so come early!
food was good but the waitress/food server lady was very RUDE when i skip the TIP..Hey its not compulsary to give a tip..
Nice small Korea restaurant located in the east side of mid-town area. All the food look, smell and taste are top and prices are bit high but the quality is good!
Food was okay. A little stingy on the side dish plate that s normally freely given at other restaurants. If I come by myself and order one dish, I get one plate of the side dish. If I come as a group and order multiple dishes, we get to share 1 and they charge us for extra. Unlikely to come back.
Service was a bit slow as only 1 person serving but she was friendly and very attentive. Food was bomb, no complaints, and their eggplant punchun is without a doubt the best Ive ever had, didnt realize eggplant could taste so good. Would definitely recommend and would be back again.
Apologies for the pics, these were screen grabs from the vid I took when we were dining. Price: $$ Food: Portions: Price to Food + Portions: Dining Experience: Delicious meals all around, A+ for price and quality! Big servings with extra side dishes (like in most korean restaurants), affordable meals and budget friendly. Definitely get the pork bone soup as its sooo good, the chicken cutlet is good too and an easy pick if youre dining with kids. The wrap combo is okay too, you get rice and lettuce wraps together in the meal. Expect wait times as the store is very busy and they only had one person serving foods and taking orders.
No need to go to Korean Town.
One of the best gamjatangs in Toronto
Really quite yummy and homey. Classic and affordable Korean food :)
The food was amazing. They only had one server on a Sunday afternoon but, the service didnt suffer. Will go again.
Bibimbap with tofu substitution (not listed in the menu) but they serve an option. The stone bowl was hot enough to make the burnt rice. Their side dishes are the best!! They pay attention to small details - serve without the fish cakes as a side dish (as vegetarian). The staff are always good and friendly. Veggie Sensai gives thumbs up
Took my mom here and ordered the dolsot bibimbap (my mom had the vegetarian version which had tofu instead of beef). The ingredients were very fresh, tasty, the portion size was very filling and the hot sauce wasnt so spicy (which is to my liking!). A quaint little spot in Scarborough, and pricing was reasonable. I loved it and will definitely come back! Vegetarian options: You can have the bibimbap with tofu if you dont want it with beef!
One of my favourite Korean restaurants. I am not a huge fan of Korean BBQ do it your own, so this restaurant is perfect for me. The side dishes change depending on the day, but they always taste so good and are fresh. I believe they are family run which is so nice, the food tastes great, portions are lovely too, overall, my favourite place to go.
Everything was great from the food to the service!! I ordered the veggie wrap with pork and got so much (see pic); I had left overs for the next day! The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because it wasnt wheelchair accessible. Parking: There is free parking (lot) in front of the restaurant Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible
The soups were excellent. The seafood pancake was filled with lots of veggies, thick, but still crunchy. The kids loved the glass noodles and bulgogi, and the rice which had some purple in it and was chewy and just right. The veggie wrap with bulgogi beef was ok- didn t quite hit the spot. Overall, service was really quick.
Ill start off by saying the food was actually good. And i would have loved to go back. But my god, the two servers there are less servers and more goons. They have to be the most obnoxious and unhelpful servers I have ever faced. Ordered wraps combo, got everything but the wraps for the longest time. Started waving at one of the server who openly ignored us for 10 minutes until we finally called him out to which he loudly and angrily replied wait. After a horrible overall experience with no forks after asking twice and getting water after asking for the 3rd time, I went to pay the bill. While one waiter put in the amount in the pos, other person glared at me like he wanted a fight. I asked if there is a problem, he replied you are. After that I tried to pay the bill and leave before it escalated any further.
Small joint, super delicious food, friendly service. Very authentic Korean restaurant
Love the food here. Legit korean food within the Scarborough area. It can get really busy so you may have to wait a bit on weekends. But worth it.
I went and got their combo - it included soft tofu seafood soup and 2 meats with sides dishes. We got beef bulgogi and fried mackerel. I loved how they gave us various leaves to wrap the meats with. The soup was amazing too. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend this place. The staff were amazing as well!
Amazing Korean food located in an inconspicuous plaza in Scarborough. Had the bbq combo for two and the seafood pancake (which can be ordered by itself despite showing up as part of the liquor combo section). Seafood pancake was gigantic and thick with seafood - so good! Bbq was plentiful and tasty too plus came with some tofu stew. Would come back again for sure!
Its delicious and the dishes are special. The place is small but very clean.
They served the best Korean food available in Toronto!
The plaza parking is horrible the owner of that plaza never build roads.. park on your own risk and horrible potholes all around the parking lot
Nice korean restaurant, little bit pricey but a good portion, food good and tasty, place clean, service good. I try the spicy tofu soup, they have three different types of meat to pick, I try the beef one, highly recommend besides of the pork bone soup.
Food is okay. This is your average korean restaurant. Felt full right away. Ambience feels homey. They have ample parking.
Pork Bone soup is 4/5.Side dishes - 2/5. Rude server/cashier. She doesn t pay attention. I asked her nicely to repeat my take out orders and she looked at me with a cranky face then walked away. Poor customer service.
This place had good tasting food.
Worth Trying A decent locals korean joint with quality offerings with a wide menu. Beef Bulgogi - Pretty solid, loads of meat and a pretty good portion I have to say. Comes with rice and some sides, but I dont think the sides are that special. Please follow @trebzheng for more Toronto and travel eats :) Takes AMEX
Decided to try a random Korean restaurant in Scarborough. The parking area was very rough with many pot holes. The restaurant was definitely a hole in the wall in this small plaza. The food was delicious, but the service could be better.
Upon entering we noticed every table had not be cleared. It was also very noisy as the place is small. Guess it was a good sign that they had so many customers but unappetizing at the same time to see partially-eaten food and used dishes and cutlery left on all the tables. The lone server tried to quickly clear off and clean a table for us. The cloth used to clean the table was grey and was likely white a long time ago. The server took our order quickly and was pleasant but it took about 20 minutes for the food to come out. In the meantime, we saw 4 other people milling around the back kitchen area. The kitchen btw needs a deep clean. The banchan was homemade and very tasty: zuchini was fantastic and eggplant was delicious too. The grilled beef short rib was ok but expensive at $33.99 for what we got. Mushrooms on rice was fine. Would not rule out returning to try the pork bone soup that I saw the table next to us order but only if I was in the area.
Amazing food every single time I go! My grandparents aren t ones to try new food often but, I convinced them to try Makkal Chon and they really liked the food! A staple for comfort food.
AMAZING food BUT they need to hire another server. The service was pretty bad but I don t blame the waitress because it was only her there! Serving a very busy restaurant! She was doing everything by herself.
Delicious food , cute family restaurant..
One of the best Korean food restaurants in Toronto. The side dish is my favourite at all
Quite good Korean food in a cozy, homey establishment. The mains didn t exceed anything that I ve had before in Koreatown, but the banchan were very high quality.
force over size customer to pay 15% tips? 0 star.
This is the definition of a loving home cooked meal. The appetizer dish was so delicious, the food was hot and fresh, and it just tasted like it was made with so much love! It was quite busy and there was only 1 server at the time, but I didnt mind the wait. Would definitely come here again for some authentic Korean food :)
Great little korean spot, side dishes were great, food was great, definitely a repeat customer.
Food was amazing but service was too slow. The server lady was very very lovely but it took a while for us to get a pork bone soup, a hot stone bowl and a soup when there are only 3 tables in total. Clearly it s not her fault but that s the longest wait I ve had in a Korean restaurant. I will definitely go back and maybe I will do take out because I just can t for that long
Really good food here. The side dishes are soooo good, I ve been there 3 times and I love all my meals here. I was too hungry and forgot to take pictures each time . If you are in the area looking for good food, this is the spot!! They have the lettuce wrap here with meat combo.. definitely come here with friends and order that next time:)
The most authentic Korean you can get in lower as Scarborough
Tipping culture is getting out of hand. I am not responsible for the employee s wage. Tipping isn t a requirement. The employees shouldn t be lashing out on the public if they aren t getting paid right, they should be lashing out on their employers/big business. With that being said Jinju, an employee there, called me out and asked why didn t you tip? It was very awkward, and I told her there was no reason. And rudely, she said, you re tipping for no reason then? Okay. After that, I felt bad so I offered to tip, and she said no and walked off. Not that employees have to go out of their way to please customers, but there wasn t anything exceptional about the service that warranted that kind of response. I don t think Jinju should get fired, maybe she had a bad day. But I cannot let this awful behaviour slide.
Amazing Korean restaurant to satisfy any Korean food cravings. Its tucked away in a small plaza with similar vibes to north York, side dishes were delicious and service was great. I ordered the pork cutlet and the portion was way bigger than expected. Sauces were also really tasted, would highly recommend ths restaurant.
Everything was tasty with lots of flavour. Free side items were excellent as well. If I had one complaint it would be regarding the Spicy pork. A little too one note, dont recommend it. Perhaps a bit more rice with all dishes as well.
The place is small but selections pretty good. Bulgogi is delicious and spicy pork bone soup. The wraps are good too even their eel - little sweet be warned. I also tried sizzling beef ribs but it wasnt marinated properly as it wasnt that good. They served this with appetizer included. Price is competitive and liking the location by Lawrence and Warden in Scarborough. One of the best Korean restaurants out there.
Only one server so she was really busy and some tables were not cleaned up for a while. Ordered mixed seafood and tofu soup, dol sot bim bi bap, and pork cutlet. The mixed seafood tofu has one tiny shrimp, tiny mussel and some random protein. Came in a some stone bowl. Not worth the $16.99 price. Dol sot bim bi bap is ok and not worth the $17.99 price. The pork cutlet is good but also pricey at $17.99. This place used to be affordable and has good food. Somehow the quality went down. Well not be returning.
Decent food, but only 1 server working on a Saturday night. Very slow service.
Update: still great! Best Korean food east of Yonge! Food : 5/5
Side dishes and the stew were both very delicious. Very nice to have on a cold day.
Amazing food. The best Korean food Ive had, excellent side dishes included. Great small place often packed or lined up out the door in high demand times.
Hidden gem located in southern Scarborough. Has a nice wooden interior design but the food is what makes it even better. Had the mackerel vegetable wrap as well as the teriyaki vegetable wrap which were both great. Kimchi fried rice was also amazing. Would definitely recommend if you re looking for a nice Korean spot in Scarborough!
Probably the best pork bone soup in the city.
Delicious Korean food, a bit overpriced tho
Traditional Korean style restaurant and amazing seafood pancake!
tasty pork!
Quaint setting, providing a great place to share a meal with family. Pork bone soup is my go to. Loads of flavour. Always smiling and friendly staff. As if you were having a home cooked meal. A local gem. Must try.
Closest to genuine and authentic Korean food
Wonderful, authentic and good portioned food for dine in and take out. Staff are friendly, but they are short staffed so service is slow. Would really recommend that they open before noon so orders can be taken before the lunch rush.
Food are good but the waitress who working today is so bad . The lady and the men are so rude . No respect to costumers. Never come back again.
I have been coming here for years. The wait might be a bit long, but it is really delicious. In southern Scarborough there arent too many good Korean restaurants, but this is my go too.
Cant say enough good things about Makkal Chon Weve been going here for a few years now since moving to the east end and this is one of the best and few (if not only) authetic Korean restaurants around! They always serve lots of delicious side dishes and always have great friendly service. We absolutely love their pork bone soup family size and their SEAFOOD PANCAKE!! Seafood pancake is massive and can definitely be meal on its own if you so choose (we always have leftovers) Pork bone soup is arguably better than owls! its super flavourful and piping hot when you eat in restaurant. If you takeaway, make sure you reboil to make it super hot and delicious. They also serve purple rice which is a nice touch. Restaurant itself is quite small, and turnover can be slow. no reservations. so either get there early (before 6pm) or be ready to wait!
The wait can be a little long but it is absolutely worth it.
Just ordered pork bone soup from this place via Uber eats and it was delicious. I have tried other Korean places but this is by far the best pork bone soup I have eaten. Also, I wanted to ask where do you buy your green chilies from and what is called? Lol. I have been looking for hot chilies for a while now and the hotness level is always disappointing.
A surprise find thanks to Google. Had a great dinner, my daughter love the Samm and Mackerel. Best pan Chan, especially the kimchi.
One of the greatest Korean food I have tried in GTA. They offer the best sides as well, great varieties, fresh, and tasty. Bul-go-gi and grilled pork are both good. Have tried their pork soup before and it was the best I have tried in GTA. A small place but definitely offering excellent food!
The wait was long and to add insult to injury the server served the ones who came after us. After seeing that the server served the ones after us, we followed up on our orders. The server raised her voice and said ours was coming. The server was frowning all the time and looked really miserable. She lacks patience, compassion and empathy. I understand that she could have been stressed since she was the only server but she could have at least acknowledged our presence and be apologetic for the long wait. When the food came, it was good but it wasn t worth the aggravation. Good service and compassion and empathy would have made a lot of difference. Customers should never have experienced what we experienced. One will pay good tip for good service. But with this server, she won t be worth a single cent. If this is a family business, she has just ruined its image. I hope other customers will not experience what we just experienced.
I ordered beef bone soup, barbecue, and potato pork soup. I liked them all. They were delicious. I ate them too quickly and didn t have time to take pictures. The side dishes were also very good. I will definitely eat there again.
aways a safe bet.
Kimchi stew is very delicious! I asked for it to be spicy, and they made it really delicious! All the side dishes are so delicious!
Very busy place. Fully pack and we have to wait. Anyway, food was good and my favorite Jjamppong is not on their menu. So we ended ordering wrap veg with grilled porkchop.
Always excellent side dishes
Great Korean homestyle cooking! The flavours were excellent. Everything was super tasty.
People are friendly. Food is soooooooooo tasty!
One of my personal all time favorite spots. Theyre appetizers are the best and the pork bone soup is my favorite.
Poor service
Well........
What a hidden gem! I don t come out east often but was in the area and dropped in for lunch without much expectation. All the food we ordered were really nice, like from back home. The menu options were really nice with a few you don t find often in typical Korean restaurants here in T.O. Plus the server was really friendly and sensible. Sorry, no pictures. It s all cleaned out. Definitely coming back when I m out this way.
Food was delicious and fresh. There isnt too much seating inside so we had to wait about 15 minutes to get a table. Food was worth the wait though.
Amazing food!
Have been coming here since they opened. When we lived in scarborough, I was here at least once a week. Best pork bone soup in the GTA!
Quaint local place, adds a good Korean option in the neighborhood. Good lunch menu, friendly staff. Food was great, quick service. Clean restaurant, plenty of parking.
Food was pretty good! Ive been many times in the past. Im glad to see they have gone back to proper dining ware and not all disposable dishes. Ill be going back soon, Ive missed their food!
Their gamjatang (pork bone soup) is legit superb. This Korean resto is small but unforgettable.
Yummy food. Better go earlier than dinner time as they get full quickly and seats are limited
I wish you would hire more people. I feel so bad for the server shes doing things on her own.
A very good Korean restaurant. The food is of high quality. Although the store is small, the taste is as good as many famous Korean restaurants. It is worth recommending.
Did a bulgogi in hot pot takeout for two people. Bulgogi and glass noodles were amazing, couldn t get enough of the broth. The only complaint is that got only one set of side dishes, despite paying for two orders.
The pork bone soup here really lacked flavour. It was bland and didn t have the flavour you would expect from pork bone soup. Not sure if this is a different style than the ones in Korea Town. The meat was fall off the bone though. The lettuce wrap was decent. Nothing particularly good or bad about it. I wouldn t return here on my own but wouldn t object if a group of friends wanted to go.
Probably the best Korean restaurant in Toronto. Ive tried Yonge and Finch Korean restaurants and Bloor Street Koreatown Korean restaurants. Eaten Korean all over except Korea. Must try. Used to be a nice chill place now always busy.
Food was delicious. The server was friendly and was willing to answer all our questions about the menu options. Parking: Lots available in the lot. Only three spots in front of the Indian grocery store is unusable.
Very good food. It s too bad the service was so slow. I think there was only one server working and the chef in the back.
Good
Very prompt and friendly service by the gentleman who was serving and cashing out customers. Absolutely delicious bibimbap and pork bone broth both served hot. The side dishes served were delicious as well and my favorites of them were the eggplant and the rice cakes, and you can ask for refills. They also serve tea. Absolutely delighted to discover this quaint space serving delicious food. Not too busy on a weekday for dinner. Weekends may be busy
Awesome service and great food!
Excellent customer service! On a very busy weekend evening, they promptly took my order and patiently explained their menu to me. This was my first time ordering. And when I called them again, because I had got completely turnaround and lost - they told me how to find them. :) We got the full serving of garlic and soy chicken on the bone with a side order of fries. It was delicious! Streaming hot. Generous serving. The sauce was sticky and hot and with just the right amount of kick. The sampling of tteokbokki was a fun surprise. And they also threw in a can of coke for free. Will definitely return. Thank you for a great experience. The food lived up to the hype!
Its a small restaurant with great food
The tofu soup is amazing. Definitely will come again.
Great food. Very flavourful !
The best restaurant weve ever been.
Korean family restaurant vibe, we got a table on weekend afternoon without waiting. Quite busy on weekend, but only 1 staff to serve on the floor, be prepared to wait after order. Large portion of side dishes. Ginseng chicken soup 4/5 The soup is the best part of the dish, very delicious. Chinese dates, garlic and ginseng in the soup. Sticky rice inside the whole chicken. But I only give 4 stars because lack of ginseng flavour. Pork bone soup 3.5/5 Taste good, strong and rich flavour but no msg to dry up your mouth afterward. Slightly spicy. The pork so tender even soak in the hot soup for a long time. Worth-trying and is definitely taste good, but would love to have less spice to taste meat flavour, just my personal preference.
Used to be really good. Now.. eh.. its just ok.
