Loved the Malaysian food we had. We tried 1) milo - which was not the authentic but still was good 2) Nasi goreng with chicken- which was really really good! 3) Malaysian style chilli chicken - was super juicy and nice 4) roti cannai chicken - was amazing too. The curry was really tasty. However, the rotis weren't authentic ones but just normal frozen onion parotas which was a bummer with everything being nice. Overall, loved the food!
The food is amazing. We love the Curry and Indonesian Fried Rice, among the other food we ordered. You can check the pictures of all the good food.
Friendly staff. Great Satay chicken. But... Fried milk shrimp is not fresh, its muscle has become mushy. It could be they are using Argentinian Red Shrimp which tends to be mushy. Fry noodle flavor is fine but the oil is too old. Too many burned wok residue left in the noodle and fish cake. I went because of great reviews and friend recommendations. I hope this is just a one time QC issue. Please use fresher materials given the price point.
What a wonderful restaurant!!! I really enjoy Malaysian cuisine and there are very few Malaysian/Indonesian restaurants operating within the GTA and none close to where I live in the city of Brampton. Travelling to North York to come to Gourmet Malaysia Restaurant was well worth the trip. The food was absolutely amazing. Each dish had its own unique flavours. My taste buds were in heaven. The staff and manager were a delight and not only did they help us choose our dishes but they also took some time to explain the background or history of certain dishes. If you have never tried Malaysian cuisine, I suggest you come to this restaurant and give it a mouthful. You won't regret it and you can thank me later.
Delicious authentic Malaysian dishes (my Malaysian friend says so) but prices are a bit high IMO. Interior decor of the main dining room is dated and needs some updates. Staff was pleasant and service was adequate. I'd recommend this restaurant.
This old school South East Asian restaurant is old school and legit. The food is great, the price is very reasonable. The live crab was $88 and the cold milk tea was $7 each… apart from these pricier items, everything else was very reasonable The food was really good. The milk-tea is unique, and worth the $7 The Roti and curry was outstanding yummy. The Laksa could have a bit more flavour but very yummy and big in portions. Bean Sprout Peanut Chicken was very yummy, perfectly cooked, juicy and tendor, The crab.. couldn’t really taste the crab.. flavour from the tomatoe sauce was overwhelming. Would recommend stir fried rice (lol, even though we didn’t old fried rice). The Wok Hey seems legit!
Food we ordered were disappointing, not the tasty Malaysian food we are familiar with. They were mostly salty, especially the kangkong belachan (vegetable dish). The beef rendang was decent but lack flavour. The Penang Kway Teow tasted more like a HK style noodle. The Nasi Goreng was probably the best of what we ordered. Nasi Lemak was average. The food was not spicy. Service was alright. The ambience gives the old school Chinese restaurant vibe.
The servers are extremely rude! The way we were spoken to from the moment we entered was pretty sad, especially by two servers whom I didn’t get their names. Service was so bad that I didn’t want to tip, but afraid I’d get yelled at. Food was mediocre, maybe we didn’t enjoy the food as much because of the way we were treated. However, the chicken satay did taste good, but we spent almost $100 for 2 with tips, which I found to be quite expensive.
It has variety of Southeast Asian foods, such as Malaysian, Singapore, Thai and Indonesian. We ordered Malaysian Char Kway Teow, Malaysian Prawn Mee, Singapore Laksa, Malaysian Chicken Satay, Thai Mango Salad. The foods taste good. The service is fast. The staff are nice and friendly.
Went with a party of 8, they did not inform us that gratuity is included in the bill, we all paid gratuity on top of the existing gratuity. Food was decent, nothing special
Amazing food, location, service and price. I will definitely come back. We had a large party and they were easily able to accommodate us
The service is indeed very poor. I am eating by myself while serving plates. It is very tiring to call a waiter. This only shows that the management is chaotic and there are no requirements. Could such a store be better in an invisible place? The food was very salty and lacked flavor, a bit like the taste of that place. Hope it can be taken seriously.
Probably should use fresh oil to fry the egg ..but then I understand its a business....
Yesterday, I suddenly felt that I hadnt eaten Malaysian curry for a long time. I had the urge to eat it, and happened to pass by this restaurant, and ended up walking in. First time going. During non-peak hours on weekdays, there are many empty parking spaces. Judging from the decoration, it should be a long-established restaurant. It is mainly a large table with card seats and tables for 4 people, but there should be no tables for two people. There is only one passenger. The greeting was nice and I was given a seat. It was clean and comfortable. A pot of water, cutlery and menu were given. There are many dishes on the menu, but there is no special separation of curries, so they probably dont recommend them particularly. There arent many dish rice dishes, but there is curry beef brisket rice. I asked for it not to be too spicy, but the waiter said it was already cooked and the spiciness could not be adjusted. The meal came quickly, the presentation was simple and nice, and the portion was suitable for me. Its delicious and authentic. It not only has the taste of curry, but also the taste of other spices, which fully stimulates the taste. The curry sauce is quite spicy and makes my scalp a little itchy and hot. The beef brisket is soft enough and easy to bite. Its a bit salty and appears darker, probably because it has been warmed in the pot for a long time. It would be better if more coconut milk and sugar could be added (personal taste). After enjoying it, I paid the bill including tax and tip, which was 18 yuan.
The service was terrible. They served all the wrong orders. The food was very very average.
It was an okay visit for us. Everything was just okay. We had the noodle with seafood and for starter we had shrimp. Ill give it a try another time with another item
I ve been eating these dishes for more than 20 years. It never disappoints . Kid-friendliness: Lots of options that are customisable. Food : 5/5 |
Aside from the noodles everything was great and freshly cooked
Mee goreng is not mamak mee goreng nor Indian mee goreng..i really dont know what it is, its sweet and a bit sour. Maybe a new creation. Roti canai looks like those bought from supermarket.
Follow @bredgyeats for more food reviews and posts! I dont need encouragement to consume more carbs, but noodles are the perfect medium to carry the addictive, smoky wok hei flavour that I cant replicate at home. The Singapore chow mein uses egg noodles that are cooked to a masterful al dente texture, littered with a diverse range of toppings that have also absorbed the wok hei flavour like shrimp, fish cakes, egg and onion. And then, marinated in a fragrant coconut milk marinade, the tender pieces of chicken pair wonderfully with the creamy peanut sauce. The sauce is so addicting, you wouldnt be able to guess they even served any after Im done with it. Service was good, and seating was spacious and comfy inside the booth.
We returned to enjoy Roti with curry beef, whole steamed fresh Tilapia fish (delicious, great texture) with ginger & green onions, Fried hor fun (rice noodles) with seafood, Chinese broccoli in belacan sauce, served by cute Yummy robot . Quick friendly service, delicious food, Thank you! ********************* A friend recommended this restaurant for great food. We enjoyed Crispy Butter Shrimp (cream shrimp), Hainanese Chicken with rice ( ), Kang Kung (Water Spinach) with Belacan sauce ( ); Roti with curry beef brisket (Indonesian shortbread). Good size portions (partly eaten before photos taken), all delicious at reasonable cost. Will definitely return for more good food. Quick friendly service, thank you!
The greatest laksa, char kuei teow, chili chicken wings and mango salad! Highly recommend!
Amazing food
Portion sized and quality have gone down. This was a restaurant where we could eat heartily as a family and feel content. Now it does not feel worth the bill.
Their take on Malaysian, Indonesian and Thai fusion tasted authentic and very delicious. Service has more room for improvement. Otherwise will definitely go back!
Food was okay. A bit bland for my liking but the kids loved it especially the robots.
Their menu features a lot of chicken, beef, and seafood dishes. They are all traditional Malaysian and Singaporean dishes packed with flavours like curry and coconut milk. When we were reading the menu, we had a hard time choosing what to order since everything looks delicious. We ordered a Hainan chicken rice, a Singaporean style seafood and chicken laksa, a jello iced beverage, and a roti served with sugar (which is a Southeast Asian dessert). Their dishes were all flavourful and served with a filling portion. Having travelled to Malaysia and Singapore, it is safe to say that this restaurant is full of authenticity and definitely worth a try. Their food reminds me of those I had in Southeast Asia. The meal was $20-ish per head tax included. There are only a few parking spots in front of the restaurant. One might need to take some time to find an empty one during peak dining hours.
Yummy Malaysian restaurant located in Scarborough. Always go there for the laksa and fried noodle (char kway teow). Always a great place to go if you re craving Malaysian food.
Good food, I come here with my family once every couple of months. Never had to wait for a line.
As a Malaysian the food is not really authentic. The food is very dominant in the chinese taste rather than the Southeast Asian. The Char Kuey Teow is one of the not authentic. It almost taste just like Chinese style. Other food we tried is the Curry Laksa is which alright but not the best. The Curry laksa is slightly better. Prices are a bit alright. Slightly a bit pricey. Most people wouldnt really be able to tell the difference unless theyve eaten Southeast Asian food in the country itself.
Very good food, staff and service was on par. You must try
Delightful people. Pricey; but delicious! My Aunt was raving about this place and she was right. Owner Fiona was helpful in suggesting Menu items that could be customized to your palate and spice level. We opted for take-out. Five stars for the food and the time it took to be prepared. Obvious love, care, heart, and soul has been poured into the business and it shows. Living in the US, authenticity can be difficult to find, but certainly not in the Toronto area. You have a concentration of cuisines, cultures, ethnicities, diversities, and backgrounds seemingly coexisting into a giant melting pot on literally every street corner and intersection. It is beautiful to see. We enjoyed the following (only managed to get two pictures - one of the Mee Goreng and one of the Beef Satay prior to eating): - Mee Goreng (with Shrimp, Squid, and Fishcake) - Indonesian Beef Fried Rice (the contrast of flavor in this dish was most notable). - Beef and Chicken Satay (the most tender and succulent skewers I have ever had along with a solid peanut sauce). - Beef Rendang (Perfectly spicy- not too dry and not too saucy). - Roti Canai (Flaky layers of goodness that ideally accompanied the dishes we had ordered). The variety of dishes was excellent! I would most likely dine-in next time only because the food was lukewarm by the time we got home to enjoy it all as a Family. There were six of us and plenty of leftovers. The spiciness and aromatics - combined with a rich depth of flavor really followed through for me and will be the reason I choose to dine here again whenever we are in town visiting Family.
Food is great but was kind of salty , they can improve the interior was not appealing.
Adhered to my allergies! Best spot for Malaysian food. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: There were seed and egg allergies in the group, everyone made it out safely.
Quite easily the best Malaysian food in Toronto - that could be because Toronto doesnt have too many Malay/Indo places....but regardless, the food here is excellent. The char kway teow had loads of wok hei - a must order if you dine-in. As far as I know, they dont allow char kway teow takeout because of how quickly it congeals into a block of not eaten right away. So truly relish it when you dine in. The beef redang with some roti is also a killer combo. The roti is so buttery, it folds right into the rendang flavor which also has a bit of fat. It ends up being a rich, extremely spiced morsel of food. Im glad the best Malay is in Scarbs. Come on in and tuck in at what is an institution in Scarborough. P.S. every restaurant prior to Gourmet Malaysia at its location often failed quite quickly - disappearing in a few months. Gourmet Malaysia has stood the test of time for well over a decade now at its location.
Was recommended to come here, the food and people are amazing.
Probably the best Malaysian food in the GTA. They do an amazing job of making sure the food tastes authentic
Mama Mee Goreng is excellent.
Food is really good, rarely have I ever tasted such good dishes around here. Should try!! yummy yummy in my tummy
If you re craving for Malaysian, Singaporean, Indonesian food this is the place to be
This is one of the best Malaysian restaurants I have been to. This includes restaurants in cities such as New York and Los Angeles. Excellent food. I highly recommend it. Everything we ordered was great.
Really needed some authentic malaysian food! And for that this place did not disappoint. Went for dinner- I ve heard this place is an oldie but goodie. The ambiance was vast- but honestly could use some work. We ordered chicken satay for an appetizer. It did not disappoint- my four year old really enjoyed it. For our meals we did Nasi Lemak with chicken curry and Chicken Satay with noodles. The anchovies with the Nasi Lemak were good- but I would have liked it just a little bit more spicy. The Chicken Satay noodles was the star of my night. The perfect mix of saucy and noodles. The chicken was so juicy! There s a cute little Robot that will come and serve your food- my kids really had a blast with watching them. Our bill was like 60$. Dietary restrictions: Halal food!
I had ordered seafood soup. It was plain hot water mixed with canned soup concentrate that you can easily find in an Asian grocery store. 4 pieces of shrimp. Rest was all tomatoes and canned bamboo shoots look alike. It costed me 15 $ for a small order of soup. Next time I feel like having soup, I will buy the packaged soup concentrate and mix in hot water myself. Never returning back. Extremely disappointed
Ordered char kuay teow and Nasi lemak. Presentation and service were great, our order was delivered by a robot. Taste of food is good but slight improvements could be made to the char kuey teow to add some wok hei to it and the sambal was a bit bland in the nasi lemak. Ill visit again to try other dishes and for an occasional treat. Teh Tarik was good
Dont miss the vegetarian tofu skins.. we love it everytime.. Try veg mee goreng its super yummy.. all veg options are tasty. i ordered chicken sambal but it was not that great. Vegetarian options: Veg options are yummy.. try mee goreng and tofu skins both are super delicious
Just an average to good restaurant. We traveled from Downtown to eat Malaysian but was not impressed as we expected.
Worst experience upon payment. The staff already put the tip upon payment without your approval
Tasty Malaysian food!
I recently tried Gourmet Malaysia in Toronto, and it was a delightful experience! This restaurant offers a blend of Malaysian and Indonesian cuisine that is definitely worth trying. First up, I had the Belacan Fried Rice. The rice was perfectly cooked with flavors that were well-balanced. It wasnt too spicy but had a nice hint of spice that made it very enjoyable. Next, I tried the Char Kway Teow. While it was good, I felt it could have had a bit more flavor. Nonetheless, it was still a satisfying dish. Lastly, I sampled the Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce. This dish was fantastic! The flavors were spot on, and the broccoli was cooked to perfection. Overall, Gourmet Malaysia impressed me with its authentic flavors and quality dishes. If youre in Toronto and looking for a place to enjoy Malaysian and Indonesian cuisine, I highly recommend Gourmet Malaysia. It s a great spot to experience the rich and diverse flavors of Southeast Asia. Dietary restrictions: Halal
I went to this area for groceries and felt hungry, so I stopped by this restaurant. I ordered some food and quickly finished my lunch. When I called the waitress over to pay, I added a $2 tip. However, when she saw the tip, her face became angry, and she loudly criticized me in her native language to her colleagues. I felt embarrassed and left. BTW food was good
Food is always delicious. Their Roti and Hainan chicken is the best!
One of the few Malay/Indonesian go to spot in Toronto. Drove 30kms to try their food and it was all worth it. This place is now in one of our favorite places to eat on TO.
Good place for Malaysian food. Finished the lunch with teh tarik which couldve a stronger tea taste Recommended dishes Beef Rendang, Indonesian Fried Rice
Very busy place for a wednesday afternoon! Extensive menu and so many vegetarian options. The roti canai (veg and chicken), chicken satay and banana leaf nasi lemak were great.
Loved the Japanese robot!
Food is pretty tasty but a bit oily. The price is kinda high and the portion is a bit small. There are cheaper places.
Great place to get authentic Malaysian food.
Got the satay chicken with rice and Ipoh hor fun and both were not good. The hor fun was noodles with chicken and bean sprouts in a salty MSG soup. Nothing tasted like Malaysian food at all. Service was inattentive even on a fairly quiet lunch weekend. My table had curry on it when I sat down. Would not come back unfortunately, even though I really wanted to like this place.
The food has gone downhill over the years. I guess changes in chefs etc. Most of the flavours are pretty weak. Service is decent.
It was a very tasty and different option. It was my first Malaysian experience and the food tasted phenomenal. Had a few different things that most folks may not enjoy but its worth asking for suggestions from staff. Service was alright, had to wave and get attention from staff as after we ordered, they never came back. Overall friendly staff but were not always available. Price was very expensive when you compare to most Chinese/ hakka restaurants but it is definitely an experience. Halal food confirmed by asking staff, nowhere listed. No pork on menu so no fear of cross contamination. Parking: Very limited parking in front, had to park at the back, which is a grocery store parking lot (all attached in one plaza) but not friendly walk from large lot to restaurant
Loved the mango chicken, fried banana with ice-cream, roti with chicken curry. My kid loved the robot servers. They even send a robot without food to our table and my little one was super happy. It was my husbands birthday so the robot came with the dessert singing happy birthday . Kid-friendliness: My 4 yr old loved the robot serving us food.
I called to confirm Halal and I didn t not a response that gives me confidence. Person who picked up says boss knows supplier and says it s halal . I know in past they served pork too. Can anyone confirm the meat and chicken suppliers?
^Traditional Malayan and Southeast Asian food at reasonable prices
The food taste is getting worse day by day.
VERY YUMMY FOOD!!!!!!! We come for dinner every time we have a special occasion!!!!!!! Everyone who works here are really friendly & really nice!!!!!!!
Delicious food, attentive service, clean facilities, a lot of seating! Do yourself a favour and treat your family to a meal from Gourmet Malaysia. The food is consistent, affordable, and they even have a cute robot to help serve the food. 10/10
Food always delicious! Loved the laksa, pineapple fried rice, stir fried rice noodles.
Nicely located at Sheppard & Brimley with ample parking. Restaurant atmosphere is deeply asian with oriental accents. Staff are friendly & good service attitude. Food tasted okay. There are many to choose from in the menu. Food : 4/5
Spend $70 for dinner..what a waste of money. Thought its Malaysian. Nothing from the menu said its authentic Malaysian. Food was bland, tasteless and was served with a side of a few flies. Stay away or go to Captain boils across the street. Not approved !
Its a good Singaporean Malaysian restaurant! Food is good. Service is good.
First talk about food: we started with chicken and beef satay followed by roti and beef curry. Then we got singapore laska, and buttered crisp shrimps with rice. For dessert we had durian fried rice ball with ice cream and kuih seri. The service: I loved it. They use robots to serve its so cute. The bot thanks you says bye after delivering the food. So cute. We did take teh Tarik- both hot and cold. The buttered shrimps were the best.(forgot the pic). Its halal. Should visit again.
So good
The best south east Asia food in GTA
Excellent no frills Malaysian food option. Sizeable portion sizes, great value. Vegetarian options: Unclear what the veg chicken is, plenty of veggies and tofu Food : 5/5 |
tastes very good
Tried their curry, it was alright. The fish ball noodle was great! Price point was reasonable. I can t wait to come back to try more different dishes. Their food was slightly on the salty side, probably has fair amount of msg in them too, I can kinda feel it.
Great Malaysian food
It is a really nice restaurant with tasty food. Can enjoy food with family.
Super authentic Malaysian food, with great attention to detail. Definitely a 100% recommend for anyone looking to try Malay cuisine. Had a great conversation with their super friendly staff. Their fish cakes are made in house, and so are most of their sauces using fresh ingredients. I brought two non-Malaysian friends for their first time and they loved it. Make sure that you do your research on popular Malay dishes, as there is a huge menu which might intimidate if youre not familiar with the food! Like most Malaysian restaurants, tons of nuts here and not suitable for folks with nut allergies.
Authentic Malaysian food. The satay and fried noodles are good especially.
Nasi lamak rice dish is the best
Wonderfully quiet at lunch time on a Thursday. Was served by a curt, no-nonsense lady who told us what we needed to know and hightailed it out of there as soon as she could at the end of our conversations. Have experienced this at other Asian (South, East, Southeast, etc.) establishments so was used to it but still felt a lil cold yknow? Incredible food; texture and flavour were superb chicken satay, Nyonya prawns (reminiscent of South Indian or Sri Lankan curry), and chili garlic salt deep-fried squid. Squid was too salty for my older companion to enjoy and even for my higher sodium tolerance I was struggling a bit. But the calamari texture was ELITE so I naturally finished the whole plate. If possible, ask to reduce the salt amount! I know its in the name but the rest of the flavour is great just less salt pls. My friend ADORED the Nyonya prawns. I did too but she was ecstatic even when eating the leftovers at home. Theyre that great! She is super interested in Malaysian fare now. Unfortunately, none of the meat or veggie dishes come with rice. You can get coconut, white, or jasmine rice (I think?) for $3 a bowl. Overall, super pleased with the food quality and the prices are decent. I am excited to return with more friends and family!
food is so so,not too many people inside, price is in the high side with respect to food quality. beware of number 212, its not the same as the lasa we have in Singapore or Malay. Currt is the best in here.
Great service. Just ok food. The stir fry noodles signature are good. The hainanese chicken is not even close to being good texture and flavor wise. The stir fry vegetables are very good. The nyonya shrimp tasted amazing. The durian ball ice cream is amazing. Overall, a mixed bag with lots of positives still.
Cant get enough of this place. Yummy is the man and yummy is the taste.
Amazing food alot of things to choose not bad prices
Nice place for authentic Malaysian food!
Food was great. Do try Chendol
The food and drinks were mostly good! Everything we got tasted quite authentic, I especially enjoyed the Hainanese fried chicken rice. The Hokkien mee could have been better if the noodle used were the thicker type, but the sauce was great.
Restroom n lobby closet wide open cluster
Noodles were salty. Mango chicken was good.
Great tasting food friendly staff
The food is really good portions are relatively big too. But the service is really poor. I went on a Saturday afternoon- there wasn t much of a crowd but they took so long to take down my order . I was also talking to them regarding my order but my server was not paying attention and she was answering the phone ! Vegetarian options: They have many vegetarian options. There is a section on the menu specifically for vegetarians
Not bad to try the food for 1st time but not worth coming back. Cutlery and plastic glass was dirty. Server did not get the order properly and missed the appetizer. Food
Authentic Malaysian cooking.
The food was ok, but nothing special. Service was very slow but friendly.
A great location to dine in with a large family! Their service is amazing, food is halal and tastes so good! Their beef satay is the best!
Good. yummy food.
Great service and atmosphere. Hainanese chicken and rice was delicious and portion size was good. Food was served quickly on cute serving robots. Chicken was boneless and tender, served with rice and a side of salad and soup. Staff were very kind!
The food was delicious!
Pretty sure the curries are microwaved. How did the nasi lemak with chicken come out in less than 5 minutes of ordering!? All the cheap pieces of meats. Would not come back. DONT TIP! It is already included in your bill. Dont make my mistake.
The food is ok but the service is slow. Hard to get someone for help Parking: Limited parking lot Food : 4/5 |
What a great lunch we had at Gourmet Malaysia Restaurant. Well definitely be back! Got the mutton curry, panang noodles with seafood, crispy shrimp, and chicken satay (best Ive ever had)! Staff were very helpful choosing dishes for my MIL who cant handle spicy food. They have a yummy robot to help serve dishes which was amusing to watch and they were hosting an esport tournament wo it was a pretty entertaining visit overall!
Fries and spring rolls were so good! Fresh and tasty.
I would normally say a bit about the food, the service and the atmosphere but in this scenario just go there. Great place for AUTHENTIC Malaysian cuisine PERIOD.
The food was hit and miss. I had both take out and dine in few times and the curry beef was pretty good but the fried rice and noodles had very little seafood in it. The coconut rice was ok. I wont say is bad but is not my top choice of food. Vegetarian options: Full vegetarian menu
Great service and food
I heard about the restaurant. Had dinner with my family. Staff is very caring. Our order was on the table right before iftar time that was soup we ordered. It was very delicious and fresh. Slowly they brought every item one by one. Beef was very tasty and fresh. Noodles, prawns and chicken chilli was delicious. Specially steamed rice cooked with coconut oil were so good. Chicken pieces were not enough in the dish. Will recommend to add more chicken. Other than that Staff is very helpful and caring. Will recommend to visit this restaurant. Keep it up excellent job.
NEVER COME HERE Such HORRIBLE food We have never eaten!!! Just we threw our money.....
Vegetarian options: Our choices of vegetarian food did not taste great. Food
Food is tasty. Service ok fair price. I ordered small size soup but it can serve 6 bowls. So far this is the most authentic Malaysianb food to me. Still seeking! Will be back for sure . Sambal is my favorite dish here
Food was ok. Our tablecloth was dirty which soured the experience.
Excellent food. As someone who is quite familiar with Malaysian food, this is as authentic as it gets. Outstanding rendang, delicious and very spicy laksa, to name a few. Its a bit on the pricey side but worth it every once in a while.
Crispy fried sambal fish, best satay ever in the city and amazing nasi goreng and roti cannai
Loved the food!
Friendly staff, service and food was good.
Owners and staff are incredibly nice and hospitable. Food is great, nothing too filling but always leaving you wanting more. Service bots are cute! I also really enjoy the gaming events that happen here once a month + every Tuesday.
Loveee yo eat here with family & friends Indonesian & Malaysian food mix
Been going here for almost twenty years from when it was still in the food court till now. Food is amazing, service and atmosphere is standard asian experience
Gourmet Malaysian Restaurant is an unpretentious place that serves up really tasty Malaysian dishes. We started with the Appetizer Platter and really enjoyed it. We especially liked the Chicken and Beef Satay Skewers and the Mango Salad. We also got Roti and it was some of the best we ve had in a long time. It was packed with flaky and had layers of flavor. We also got the Pineapple Seafood Nasi Goreng which I honestly didn t think would work, but somehow the flavors were well balanced. We really had a good experience and would come back again!
Vegetarian options: They have a good selection of vegetarian dishes and gave us the option to exclude eggs Food
Reasonable price, good Malaysian food, and they have robots to serve food to the tables. Also able to get some Malaysian goodies e.g dodol, cookies, crackers. Servers are friendly.
Had a 6-hr transit, decided to step out of the airport and come here (for the love of food right??). Had Nasi Lemak and Teh Tarek. No regrets, worth it! Will come again. Love the ayam curry. Reminds me of Roti Jala curry. No surprise they dont accept AMEX. Nebermind we can help use Visa. Just keep cooking dont close down.
The food was amazing and very friendly service love it
Fast service for a.decent price. Staff is friendly and very accommodating. Robot waiter is cute
Singapore Laksa is a must try!
Fantastic
The hot and sour soup is perfect, the stingray was delicious as well
It s always best experience to go to this restaurant
Food and service was good, we were there for dinner on a weeknight and it was not as busy. Lots of parking available during our visit.
I have not tasted anything in the menu that isnt great. The best value for money in Scarborough.
Interesting variety of food: Malay, Indonesian, Thai, Chinese. A lot of variety. Anchovies and eggplants are outstanding. Food
Great price for the portion of food! Really enjoyed my lunar new year here with friends.
Foods are great there
Food is really good and tasty, but the service was very slow. It was busy... very best and there shohave been more staff. The atmosphere needs improvement Again, the food was very tasty Food : 4/5
Came here with the family and ordered several dishes. Got the Singapore laksa, banana leaf stingray, roti with beef curry, prosperity salad and penang char kwei teow. All the dishes tasted really good. I was surprised to how much meat was on the stingray. The prosperity salad was fun where everyone part takes in the mixing of the salad for some prosperity. The service was also really good.
Was okay
This Christmas, my family and I opted to enjoy our festive lunch at a restaurant. Although some of our usual selections met our expectations, the nasi lemak we ordered turned out to be disappointing; it was essentially just plain rice with chicken curry. The service experience was unique, with robots handling our orders, and we found ourselves having to retrieve our dishes each time. Surprisingly, we were billed for table service, despite the semi-automated nature of our dining experience. The server who took our order appeared visibly displeased, giving the overall impression that she was not thrilled to be at work.
We enjoyed this restaurant for dinner and everything seemed very fine. The atmosphere wasn t that great as it was a little rundown, but the service and staff were nice and welcoming. The food was also great and we enjoyed skewers and some other dishes. It is a little pricier but it can be worth it if you get the right food and get the right table. There are also robots bringing your food which makes this restaurant a mix of the past (atmosphere) and the future (robots). Overall, I would come back, but the atmosphere needs to be improved a little bit.
Terrible service!
Great food. Fast takeout. The Satay, Tom yam soup, chili chicken Malaysian style, crispy butter prawn are to die for.
Not bad food, fast service and good price point.
Good
staff are friendly, food is ok, maybe just me, but I still think its worth to try
We ordered house special chilli beef, chilli chicken Malaysian style and rendang beef total of which came to over $60. The taste of the dishes was very good. The chilli chicken and chilli beef had more peppers and onions than meat. The quantity of the dishes was VERY little. The containers were very shallow and the amount in them was so little. It was so disappointing to spend so much and get so little. Will not be buying from here again.
Great but very economical food .Good size of portion. We were four people and cost less then $60 . Watching robot serving food is fun to watch . Owner greets and meet people personally. Very friendly. Food
This store doesnt live up to its name. Maybe he s not a chef from Star Country 0r Horse Country! I cant say much.
The food was good, but the staffs there was not at all friendly. They dont even look straight to the face and serving is mostly done by a robot. Moreover, when we paid the bill one staff was angry to us and asked Why you didnt tip, next time when you come here you should tip,or else we will be serving you next time.I was so surprised that tipping is extremely personal choice, the service was bad, the staffs were rude and they expect tip?. We paid the money for the food and the tip should be for the service and friendly behavior of the staff. However, the food was nice, we might come again for more food.
The food is very good
Highly authentic, but little off on the flavor
Its not the fanciest restaurant, but for the quality of food you get and the service from the staff. It was definitely worth the visit and I would definitely come by again. I think they may have forgotten my dessert though. I will probably go back and grab more food. Thank you! Vegetarian options: Theres a whole section in the menu! Take a look in the photos I posted. Dietary restrictions: They will adjust if there are seafoods you cant have, like squid. Parking: There is parking in-front of the restaurant which is shared with the other units in that strip.
The food here is awful but the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Not a place for vegetarians.
Fun spot with great food! They got a little store here with snacks, server robots and while we were eating some brothers from the local church pulled up and started serenading us with Christmas carols - they probably dont work for the restaurant and it is likely they dont pull up all the time but it was fun. I felt like I was at a Haidilao. The food was also very yummy, I loved the Roti with the curry and the portions were nice. If you are looking for some Malaysian food come through!
Love the food
