Ive been eating here for I dont know how many years. Their attitude towards old customers is to tip them because they dont have coins. If they lose 20 cents (maybe only 1.5 cents), they start a fight with the customers and shout very loudly, Not enough! I really took the rubbish out of the rubbish. Ps. More than once! If the change is short, the change that should be given is usually one or two yuan less.

I never knew this was a HK cafe based on the name. I finally tried it and it is a whole in the wall kind of restaurant. Price is low, menu is very limited and small. Portion is kind of small too but then, I mean for the price they charged, cant really complain. Place is not big but the wait time for a table is not bad at all. Service is your typical Chinese service.. Just dont expect much :) Parking is free but can be hectic and limited with the drivers drivng to come in and out from the plaza, especially with the supermarket nearby and Mcdonalds. Be careful of bad drivers. Very easily accessible through transit.

Grew up coming here so its been a staple in my life! This type of Cantonese/HK style diner is a dying breed, sadly. The newer ones are too gimmicky at a higher price point but without being substantially better in flavour. May Wah is no frills and still serves the best Iced Lemon Tea in the city! Variety of baked rice dishes, fried noodles/rice, Afternoon Tea specials and All-Day Breakfast items. Consistent throughout the years. Highly recommend their Deep Fried Chicken Wings w/ Western Style Fried Rice (has bacon, sausage, ham) or just their regular Deep Fried Wings, Baked Ox-Tongue w/ Cream Sauce, Fried Beef w/ Flat Rice Noodles, Beef Brisket w/ soup noodles or rice, and Cantonese Chow Mein. French Toast aint too shabby either. Solid spot for a quick and simple meal. Does all the classic dishes right!

Hole in the wall HK style diner in my native plaza. The interior brings back nostalgia from the days of the 90s and early 2000s Chinese restaurants, but it is a little run down and could use some upgrades. Service was typical from a classic cha chan tang , I spoke with the waitresses/aunties in Cantonese, but I do believe they speak some English as well. And typical in the sense that they were straight to the point, and quick. They would refill my tea glass when it was empty. But enough jibber jabber, lets talk about the food. Theres variety, and a lot of Hong Kong classics. I had the curry chicken, which came with rice, milk tea, and a Chinese soup, or tong! The curry chicken wasn t anything special, but man, did it come out fast. As soon as I placed my order, and went to the washroom, the chicken curry was ready for me to demolish. It came with sautéed peppers, and some yummy golden potatoes. And can we talk about the milk tea! It was so good! I ve had milk tea in Hong Kong before, and this decadent drink was right up that alley. The tong wasn t anything special, but the food was overall super comforting, as if someone s uncle or auntie cooked it for you. I got some chicken wings to go for my sister (8 for 13$), and although the wait for these were a little longer, it was well worth it. The wings were fragrant, well-sized, and not at all oily. From the chicken wing tax that I usually take, I bit into a crispy exterior into a juicy and tender chicken interior. Mmmmmm. The wing was well seasoned, and is definitely worth getting. They mainly take cash I believe, but you should clear that up with the aunties at the register.

We tried a few of the afternoon tea sets here this afternoon. The food and drinks tasted good and met our expectations. The price was good too.

Delicious and affordable. Their fried chicken wings and their curry are must-try dishes. The service is just average, but the food is great, along with generous portions and delicious soup and milk tea.

The place has a very cozy atmosphere and casual. The staff was very friendly and the food came fast. The eggs and toast were hot and the noodles were great. Weekly special curry chicken and rice is delicious. They deep fry the chicken and then smoother with curry sauce. Special also comes with a tea and hot cream soup.

The prices have gone up, but while the quality remains solid it lacks the variety and (for lack of a better word) fanciness of other diners at similar price points.

Food are meh , they ONLY accept cash and there is no sign warning you before you go in.

Update: Prices has increased since my last review but thats probably COVID related. Service is still great. A 10+ year customer. Lots of different weekly specials. Inexpensive lunch options. Very casual. Good bang for your buck despite the price increase recently.

No wifi, and the cashier only accepts cash, no debit or credit card. The soup is so sweet that it is likely from pre packaged.

The breakfast is delicious. My favorite breakfast meal No. 1 (a diced fried double egg toast before the meat is served), and the smooth frozen milk tea. Real Hong Kong flavor

The cream soup is really the only thing I can compliment about this establishment. I had ordered pork chops with tomato souce on rice and both the pork chop was lukewarm and the rice almost cold as if the was pre-cooked and then microwaved when ordered. The wait staff, bless their hearts, were at least very polite and accommodating. Especially the taller one with short hair. Unfortunately, I doubt I will ever take my family here again.

The price is very affordable. Although there are not many choices, they all taste good.

Ordered the omelette with toast. Pretty greasy the omelette was a thin piece of egg half folded over mushroom, peas and carrot. For 5.50 I d go to McDonald s in the same plaza. Everything was under cooked. At least the coffee was ok. If you want cheap food come here. I wouldn t expect quality though.

Its a traditional HK style tea restaurant. They have breakfast, all day breakfast, lunch special, selected chow mein, chicken or beef with veggies and steam rice or spaghetti. You can order in set or single dishes. They are very economical. If you eat alone or with a few friends and want to enjoy some HK style food. It can be a good place to go.

Nice place to have a quick Hong Kong Cafe style meal. Prices are ok and the food is good. Dont expect good service unless youre a regular. The place is usually pretty busy during regular meal times but the wait is usually pretty short.

POOR SERVICE ATTITUDE, poor service attitude, unwilling to answer even more questions, and said you can eat elsewhere , bad review, bad review! Super bad! Friends around me said that the attitude of this tea restaurant is very bad and they will never come again!

If you want to show someone a true Hong Kong-style cha chaan teng in Toronto, take them to D&R Wings (May Wah). Meals are relatively inexpensive and filling. Delicious cream-style soup, baked spaghetti, and HK-style breakfasts. Though, sometimes I wish they added more tomato sauce to my baked pork chop on rice or more black pepper sauce. Popular with local Canto families and Canto students during lunch. Its been in Bamburgh Gardens for years (and I used to eat here before the wait staff wore uniforms) and will probably be there forever.

Love this place. Its kind of a hole in the wall that hasnt been updated in 20 years, but the food is cheap, fast, and tastes great. Dollar for dollar, best fried wings in town for the price. HK style cafe with all the usual favs. A total hidden gem that youd likely never go into if you were just walking by.

Their HK food is decent, for a price thats just a little higher than what its worth. On our visit, some of the staff didnt have great attitude. We saw that the other tables that came later got their drinks faster than we did, so we told them to check-up on it, but then I heard in the back a woman is saying Yell all they want we work on our own speed in Cantonese. Another staff was also saying Fine, you can have it when putting the food on the table. They didnt have these attitudes on other customers though, just us. Maybe they favour customers that come frequently, and I understand that, but from the looks of it we wont be one of them.

Found a piece of plastic in my food once. But I come here everyonce in a while when Im tired of pho and other foods that this plaza has to offer.

This HK style cafe had been here for decades,some old staffs,food quality is only so so or below par.Only a good place to have a quick breakfast and go.. nothing to write home about.

The milk tea here is one of the best around. I always come here for the afternoon tea special chicken wings and fries, its less than $10 and comes with a drink, better deal than McDonalds.

Have been a loyal customer for over a decade. I like the taste and combo choices - I feel theyre more authentic for a HK style tea restaurant; but every time theres a small jump in minimum they jack up their prices way more to the point that I have cut my visit from several times a week to no more than once per week. Its now much less value for money and Ive mostly stopped ordering from the lunch or dinner menu and only order from the all day breakfast menu. The food is never very fresh and there are a couple of waitresses who are outright rude (youll figure out who and avoid ordering thru them). Its cash only youre not provided a receipt - make sure the bill is correct based on the menu prices.
